Dr Turocy's manner was always gentle and friendly, but we really appreciated that she was also very clear in all her communication, and laid things out in a very simple and factual way. She dealt with the ups and downs in our emotions throughout the process, including whenever we got stressed or anxious. We also live abroad, and despite the time difference and the added complications of our health system here, she went above and beyond to stay in touch with us and communicate with my doctors here. Although our first transfer didn't end up resulting in a health pregnancy, we still could not be happier that we chose Dr Turocy for this process, and have every faith in continuing to have her as our doctor.
Columbia is in an excellent location in the city. The clinic was always incredibly clean, with friendly staff. Overall, things were run very efficiently. In the few months I was there, there was the odd day when appointments would be running behind, but generally the regular monitoring appointments were quick and speedy. One thing that really stood out to me was that every nurse there was excellent at administering blood tests – quick and almost completely painless every time.
How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Dr Turocy was kind, caring and informative throughout our treatment. She was always available to speak to us on video calls, and was very quick to respond to emails whenever we had questions. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Don't be afraid to reach out directly to Dr Turocy, as she will always get back to you over email and is always happy to answer questions. On the flip side, her team is fantastic, so if you're concerned about anything, you can always get in touch with Lauren and Sakari as well.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
We came to Columbia after a terrible previous experience at another fertility clinic in the city. The difference in care was immediate – we were introduced to the whole team, including nurse and medication coordinators, and finance, so from day one we knew who to contact if there were any problems. Dr Turocy was always available at short notice to get on a video call with us and answer any questions we had. Communication was excellent from everyone throughout the process. I also hugely appreciated the care from all the nurses and other members of staff who were there. After so many visits for bloodwork and scans, they made the effort to learn my name and what I looked like, so it always felt like a personal experience when I went in there.
Describe the protocols Jenna Turocy used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
Dr Turocy worked with us around all our very specific requirements, including the need for us to freeze my husband's sperm, and our desire for genetic testing, as well as the complications around booking flights into New York. Nothing was too much trouble, and she was able to find solutions to every problem we had. She also didn't make us feel as though even trivial issues were a nuisance to her. At our previous clinic my first retrieval only resulted in 10 eggs and 1 healthy embryo, whereas my retrieval at Columbia resulted in 28 eggs and 8 healthy embryos. How closely I was monitored by Dr Turocy in terms of how long she kept me on the medication before retrieval clearly made a big difference to the results.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Sakari Joseph)
I predominantly spoke to Sakari for the duration of my treatment at Columbia. She was absolutely fantastic – always prompt to reply over email and provided very clear, detailed instructions at every step. She went above and beyond to organise additional visits for me with other nurses if she wasn't available herself.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Jenna Turocy at Columbia University.
We were self-pay patients, and appreciated that Columbia offer a discounted bundle rate for self pay. This made a huge difference compared to our previous clinic, who charged for each monitoring appointment and blood test. Having all tests and appointments included in the bundle rate meant we didn't have to worry whenever extra tests were ordered.

[Dr. Jenna Turocy] is caring, compassionate and delicate...am 51 today but once I read her publications and accomplishments I knew she will help me in this process...took the time to reply to my questions. Once the first transfer failed she took the whole work in her hands on the second transfer
[Columbia University] is very clean. They have various nurses for blood work and more. The waiting time is short...nurses ready for help from medication, to blood work and mote...will follow with the results the same day...spent about $55000 for this process...quality of services and my baby worth the price I paid
How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Dr Turocy is a fertility doctor at Columbia. I have a positive Ivf procedure at 51. The first time I met her after 2 failed Ivf in Spain, I knew I found my helper. She is caring, compassionate and delicate. She will not only check on me after a positive pregnancy but walked with me at 7:30 am in the morning to give me some advices to fight the morning sickness. I truly recommend her as your next fertility doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Please ask Dr Turocy to follow all the steps of the procedure
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
The first I met Dr Turocy in February 2023, I knew she will help me to have my miracle baby. I am 51 today but once I read her publications and accomplishments I knew she will help me in this process. She took the time to reply to my questions. Once the first transfer failed she took the whole work in her hands on the second transfer. Even when I have a positive pregnancy she was there from phone calls to e-mails. She went over the challenge to her the heart beat of my baby before I graduated from the clinic. I don’t have the words to express the joy I felt when I heard this heart beat 4 times. I truly recommend Dr Turocy for fertility procedure. It’s a very exhausting process an a patient need to work with a caring doctor like Dr. Turocy.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Joseph Sakari)
Every time I need help on medication, she will make a quick to the Dr for clarification. Dr Turocy will call right the way. Every time I went for bloodwork or scan . She will follow with the results the same day.

It is very pricey for middle class family. I spent about $55000 for this process compared to $9000 in Spain. The quality of services and my baby worth the price I paid

Dr. Turocy always made me feel like a priority. She knew my case backward and forwards. I came to her from a prior clinic, and even before arriving at Columbia, she had read my complete file and was incredibly thorough. In addition, Dr. Turocy always made herself available - whenever I had questions (which was often) I was able to email her directly, and she was always responsive no matter how big or small the question was...
I was assigned a nurse [at Columbia University], and she emailed my blood results/next steps very promptly the afternoon that I had received my blood drawn. She always made herself available, answered all of my questions, and would make sure to confirm with Dr. Turocy if there was anything she was not 100% certain of. I appreciated her empathy throughout the entire process...You schedule your own bloodwork/ultrasound appointments on their patient portal...I was able to schedule them on my own time...
How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
I came to Dr. Turocy after a grueling fertility journey - I had been to two other clinics, had undergone multiple frozen transfers, IUIs, had two miscarriages, and had multiple hysteroscopies. I came to Dr. Turocy feeling pretty helpless about my journey. She was incredibly empathetic, and she was extremely thorough and clear in explaining her ideas for next steps. Dr. Turocy suggested ideas that had not been previously brought up from the many doctors/consults I had, and she was also always willing to hear my perspective on the course of treatment. I was used to not seeing my doctors so frequently at my scans, but Dr. Turocy was unique in that if she was able to be at a scan, she made sure to be there (and when she wasn't, they were not major scans). After two and a half years of infertility, I found a doctor who exceeded my expectations - in terms of her intellect, thinking outside the box, her clarity on treatment, and most importantly, her empathy and bedside manner.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Don't be afraid to ask questions about your treatment if you don't understand something - she welcomes questions and is always happy to explain something that may be unclear.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
From my first consultation with Dr. Turocy, through all of the appointments and scans, Dr. Turocy always made me feel like a priority. She knew my case backward and forwards. I came to her from a prior clinic, and even before arriving at Columbia, she had read my complete file and was incredibly thorough. In addition, Dr. Turocy always made herself available - whenever I had questions (which was often) I was able to email her directly, and she was always responsive no matter how big or small the question was.
Describe the protocols Jenna Turocy used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
Dr. Turocy started my treatment by conducting a diagnostic hysteroscopy - I had previous hysteroscopies previously (a uterine septum removed, after a D&C), so Dr. Turocy started with that so she could get a comprehensive look at my uterus. After doing multiple medicated frozen transfers, Dr. Turocy decided to do a natural frozen transfer (meaning, my body would ovulate on its own instead of simulating ovulation). Since I have PCOS and irregular periods, I started with letrozole to grow follicles, then moved onto injectables when the letrozole was not so effective. In addition, she placed me on metormin and lovenox (and progesterone suppositories). Lastly, a couple of days before the transfer, she did a new minor procedure (like a pap smear) called a PRP where she injected my hemoglobin (taken from a blood draw) and injected it into my uterus to stimulate additional blood flow to the area.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Sakari joseph )
I had been used to clinics where I either communicated with different nurses each visit, or had non-responsive nurses. When I came to Columbia, that all changed. I was assigned a nurse, and she emailed my blood results/next steps very promptly the afternoon that I had received my blood drawn. She always made herself available, answered all of my questions, and would make sure to confirm with Dr. Turocy if there was anything she was not 100% certain of. I appreciated her empathy throughout the entire process.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
Some strengths of the clinic: 1. You schedule your own bloodwork/ultrasound appointments on their patient portal - this saved me so much time waiting on hold with reception (compared to other clinics), and I was able to schedule them on my own time. 2. The wait time was far shorter than the prior two clinics I had been to - I never found myself waiting a long time to be seen by a nurse/doctor. The phlebotomist and nursing teams were incredibly efficient. 3. I liked that my blood results came through email instead of phone - as a working person, it was often difficult to answer phone calls at the office especially when I was receiving such important news. Having it come through email made it much easier - of course, if I preferred a phone call, the office definitely could have accommodated that.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jenna Turocy at Columbia University.
Thankfully, my insurance covered IVF, so I payed a $50 co-pay for each appointment, and there were some copays with medications, and with the hysteroscopy that I had done.
Describe Jenna Turocy's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
Given my age and the quality of my embryos, Dr. Turocy encouraged a single embryo transfer.

For us Dr. Turocy wanted us to try naturally. We learned that I have PCOS which was the only cause of us/me not getting pregnant. So after both me and my husband were checked out. We were all set to start me on medication when she discovered I was pregnant! Unbelievable after months/a year of trying. I miscarriage my 1st pregnancy so she watched me very carefully during the 1st 10 weeks. Regular check-ups and ultrasounds. I felt very well taken care of...
Everyone [at Columbia University] was amazing and cheerful and very knowledgeable. Always sent me my text results day of and would give detail explanations. When I had to give blood they were very careful and quick...Close to the subway and bus. In a very nice building. They are almost always on time so you won’t be waiting forever...
How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Both my husband and I were extremely nervous about starting this process. But Dr. Turocy really made us at ease. She was amazing! Lucky I/we got pregnant extremely early in the process 😀. Dr. Turocy hardly needed to do anything with me except be there for me while my baby grew. I got the chance to have very early ultrasounds and we were able to hear the heartbeat at 6 weeks! An unbelievable experience! I almost didn’t want to change doctors. I wish she could be my OB as well. She asked for me to stay in contact and I have! I am so grateful to her and when my husband and I are ready to have another baby we will be back!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Ask her questions! I promise she’ll take the time to answer you even the ones you feel are dumb. Don’t be afraid to email her she’ll answer you!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
After each check up she would sit down in a chair in the room and candidly answer every question me or my husband asked her. If I sent her an email she would respond the same day. And she remembered things about me. Small details I had offhandedly told her.

I had a great experience with Dr. Turocy...very low AMH for my age...retrieve 10 eggs, and had 7 viable embryos...very being diligent in looking at all my results daily, and adjusting my medication accordingly. She was really easy to communicate with via email or phone. Always responded within 24 hours.
[Columbia University is] Clean, nice office, good staff. Its definitely a busy clinic, but I like that you can book everything online, and that you can communicate via email. They have a lot of people there to help. overall, good experience...Sakari was great, super easy to communicate with and really knowledgeable. So nice!
How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
I had a great experience with Dr. Turocy! First, the results. I have very low AMH for my age, and between everything you read and are told, did not have high expectations for my first round of retrieval's. That was not the case here! I was able to retrieve 10 eggs, and had 7 viable embryos! That is pretty incredible given the expectations that went into this- and I thank Dr. Turocy for very being diligent in looking at all my results daily, and adjusting my medication accordingly. She was really easy to communicate with via email or phone. Always responded within 24 hours. The nurse, Sakari, was also great and really responsive as well. I also got spontaneously pregnant right before we were going to do a transfer- and she was amazing at still seeing me for my first 10 weeks, since it was taking sometime for me to find an OBGYN. When I had any minor thing happen during the early stages of pregnancy, she was willing to see me immediately and put me at ease. For this I am also incredibly grateful! As with many clinics, you definitely are not the only patient, and for most of my appointments, I wasnt with Dr. Turocy, BUT she always followed up after with results. Once I was Pregnant, she was there for all! Overall - she is great. Very approachable, easy to work with, and really supportive. Would recommend!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?

How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Dr. Turocy and I had an initial consultation over video, then I saw her again when I went to the clinic for a transvaginal ultrasound and labs. I saw her the second time because I had a very upsetting experience at the clinic and she happened to be present that day. From the initial consultation I thought she was nice enough, but her talk with me at the clinic left something to be desired. She kept telling me they weren't going to "force me" to undergo any procedures, which I thought was so odd I asked her why she kept using that term. I felt as though I were a problem she was trying to deal with.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Good luck.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
I had a poor experience at the clinic due to seeming disorganization and Dr. Turocy gave a very general response to my concerns. It didn't seem like she didn't care but I also didn't feel very much human connection.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Lauren)
I've only committed with the care coordinator via email and it was fine. The staff at the clinic were so disorganized. I wasn't told what procedures I'd be undergoing, I was scolded for urinating before a urine test I didn't know I was going to have, a different staff member told me to go to an exam room while I was in the middle of walking to the chair to have blood taken by the phlebotomist who had just called me, and the doctor who saw me to perform the ultrasound thought I had been there before. Very unprofessional and distressing.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
Please see my description of the staff. I don't know if it was a bad day but the coordination at this site was extremely poor and I haven't fully processed it yet. In fact, I am behind at least one cycle after this. (The whole experience took place on my fortieth birthday, to top it all off.)

I was not charged as everything was covered by insurance. I only had diagnostic testing.

Dr Jenna Turocy was the best Doctor I ever had. She treated me like family and explained the whole process thoroughly to my husband and me. I never had to wait for my results , she always called me or emailed as soon as results came in. She was very hands on and always took the extra step. I came to her with so many fertility issues and she got me pregnant on the first IVF transfer. At the end of my treatment I truly felt like she genuinely was just as happy as me. I have been to other fertility doctors and she truly set the standard for being the best !!!
Columbia is the best clinic and I felt like the whole staff was cheering me on...Everybody is so supportive, nice and friendly. The facility is always clean. i never have to wait long bc they move so fast. I normally hate giving blood but when they do it I can't feel a thing. They walk you through everything And are very hands on...[nurse] Sakari Joseph was a great communicator, always gave good instructions and always was available. She was always so pleasant and courteous. She is a great asset to Columbia.
How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Dr Turocy is 1 of a kind, she is compassionate, personable, and transparent. She was always 1 step ahead of everything, planned my medications and procedures perfectly. She doesn’t treat you like a patient she treats you like family. I always felt like top priority because her communication was impeccable. She makes miracles happen, she is worth every visit !
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Dr Jenna Turocy was the best Doctor I ever had. She treated me like family and explained the whole process thoroughly to my husband and me. I never had to wait for my results , she always called me or emailed as soon as results came in. She was very hands on and always took the extra step. I came to her with so many fertility issues and she got me pregnant on the first IVF transfer. At the end of my treatment I truly felt like she genuinely was just as happy as me. I have been to other fertility doctors and she truly set the standard for being the best !!!!! I would also like to add that her staff was incredible.

How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Jenna is an incredibly smart, expert, compassionate fertility doctor. We were transferred to her from another doctor in the practice midway through our treatment but she treated us with utmost care and leaned in quickly. It was a huge step up in accessibility and communication from our previous doctor at the practice. She was very practical with her advice and it truly felt like we were in this together as a team, not always a doctor-patient relationship. We now have a healthy 9 month old thanks to her support and medical advice. She walked us through the options when necessary, gave us what she thought was her preferred path but left us to make the final choices.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Trust her and be as open as possible with her about all thoughts, questions or concerns.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
She is a practical doctor. She was very clear and humane in her communications with us. She understood our preferences for medication and was willing to hear our opinion before providing medical advice. She is brilliant, but very down to earth.

Dr. Turocy is highly knowledgeable in her field. She explains information and next steps clearly, and doesn't mind repeating herself (will do so without prompting, actually, which was very reassuring and helpful). Warm and informative, Dr. Turocy had the right touch for us...had a patient, confident, and warm approach. She did not rush us and answered all questions. Her clear explanations of possible diagnoses and treatments were very helpful after suffering two previous early-term losses.
The entire [Columbia University] staff (which is a sizeable one -- makes the process run smoothly and quickly) was warm and caring. I did not have one negative interaction with anyone...They communicate in a timely manner which is very reassuring when you're waiting on results. I was very happy and relieved to know that such a high-quality clinic took my insurance.

Describe the protocols Jenna Turocy used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
My treatment was based on male infertility and strong ovarian reserve and egg count. After getting off of birth control, I did one round of IVF with Gonal F pen (dosage was 150 units per evening), Menopur (dosage was 2 powder vials per evening), Cetrotide (dosage was 1 kit per evening once we start this medication), and Leuprolide: ( 40 units once). Dr. Turocy was then able to retrieve 25 eggs which ultimately made 3 embryos after genetic testing. During the transfer, I took estridol 2mg twice a day and the 1ml of progesterone starting around the transfer date once in the evening (twice on the first day). Also before the transfer date, I received 2 rounds of PRP. Then 10 days after my treatment, I received a positive pregnancy test and now I am 9 weeks pregnant and I will stop progesterone treatment this Sunday.

Dr. Turocy took the time to explain things thoroughly and answered any questions I had. She is approachable, has great bedside manner, and was a source of stability amid an at times ambiguous process. There's a lot to understand especially in the beginning testing phase, and Dr. Turocy assured me of my results and that when she assessed it was a good time to start meant she had confidence that I had a good chance at a positive outcome. She also was very clear in setting expectations on how outcomes could go which I appreciate so that I wasn't disappointed given there are lots of variables that can impact the course of treatment.
Everyone was very friendly, helpful and professional at this clinic [Columbia University]. I would definitely go back! I felt cared for and like the clinic actually cared about me personally even while being so busy. This is very important to me in a medical environment...The nursing staff was very kind, efficient, and clear on daily dose instructions once we got started. I would just say that at times it felt like the communications were scattered (timing and who they were coming from varied) and sometimes required a bit higher touch than the standard emails that are sent for day of instructions especially when first starting treatment.
How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Dr. Turocy is extremely knowledgeable and does a great job explaining the whole process. While I felt like there was a lot to learn and the information comes at you fast especially once you start treatment, Dr. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Feel free to ask as many questions as you need to feel comfortable throughout the process. Dr. Turocy is so knowledgeable and does a really nice job explaining the different aspects of the treatment cycle. There are many moving parts once you get started between the pharmacy, medications, nurses, monitoring appointments, etc. so it's nice having Dr. Turocy as a point of contact through it all.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Dr. Turocy took the time to get to know me during my initial consultation and made me feel like she truly was listening to my current situation and shared her expertise with me to help me make my decisions regarding treatment, timing of it all, etc. She was always available via phone or email throughout my process and eased any uncertainty I had by answering my questions promptly and thoroughly. I never felt like she was rushing our conversations to move onto the next patient or task.
Describe the protocols Jenna Turocy used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
There are a few things looking back that I would keep an eye on if I were to do another cycle. One is the dosage amount - it can vary and for me I ended up using less (as prescribed by the nurse) than what was requested by the medication coordinator, however, my pharmacy asked me to adjust the amounts needed so they knew what to send me. All in all, they ended up sending me a little too much based on what the medication coordinator had requested, which I ultimately was charged for. Not a huge deal because it's difficult to get the perfect amount down in the first 1-2 days but would be something I'd watch in the future. Overall, the treatment strategy used by Dr. Turocy was the right one because I had a successful outcome and I felt confident in her rationale. I had an minor reaction to one of the medications which I was made aware of that potential ahead of time in the instructional video, where they also stated this was common.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Sakari Joseph)
The nursing staff was very kind, efficient, and clear on daily dose instructions once we got started. I would just say that at times it felt like the communications were scattered (timing and who they were coming from varied) and sometimes required a bit higher touch than the standard emails that are sent for day of instructions especially when first starting treatment. I had a situation where we were debating the start date and it would've been nice if the first day of testing was a bit more prescribed rather than leaving to me to decide when to come in. Once I got the hang of the daily cadence (and it could just be the nature of this process), it was fine but was something to adjust to in the beginning.

I would say fairly minor - but it would have been nice if the medication coordinator was a bit clearer in telling me to watch if my dosage amount changes and if it does, that I'd need to instruct my pharmacy to adjust the amount they send me. I caught this disparity a day or 2 late and the pharmacy sent me the original amount well in advance of me actually starting so I paid for more than I needed. The other thing that could've been better was when I was starting the treatment cycle, the nurse coordinator introduced some ambiguity on when I could start rather than explicitly providing my options and what she'd recommend, which made things confusing and a little stressful. I'd still go back to this clinic just a few areas that I'd like to see improved in the future.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
From the very beginning it felt like Dr. Turocy had looked over our records in detail and really got to know us as a couple and as hopeful parents. She would always check on me (pre and post procedures), either with a direct phone call or a caring email. She would always ask us about things in our lives that we had mentioned to her which made us feel very seen and valued by her and her team....
Columbia Fertility Clinic was a breath of fresh air. Every appointment was quick and efficient. My only hope is that they had earlier bloodwork/monitoring appointments (appointments start at 7am)...My nurse, care coordinator, and the entire nursing staff at Columbia were amazing to work with. They were all professional, efficient, and kind...Monitoring appointments were definitely an efficient, well oiled machine...
How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Dr. Turocy has been a godsent to me and my husband. Her approach to our care has been thorough and consistent. During our egg retrieval cycle and our 2 following transfer cycles we have felt like she was there with us every step of the way. My first transfer cycle (fresh) was successful but unfortunately Dr. Turocy had to deliver the news at our 6 week ultrasound that our pregnancy was ectopic. This was devastating but I am convinced that she made this difficult situation so much easier for us. For our 2nd transfer cycle (frozen) she was there for us again and kept us grounded and hopeful, but clear on the possible outcomes and how we could move forward. We both love her so much that we hoped that we could have her during the duration of our pregnancy as our OB! For any future transfer cycles we will definitely be going back to Dr. Turocy because we completely trust her with our fertility care.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Feel free to ask her any questions that you may have because she is incredibly open to answering them all and helping couples navigate this complicated process.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?

She would always ask us about things in our lives that we had mentioned to her which made us feel very seen and valued by her and her team.
Describe the protocols Jenna Turocy used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
For my egg retrieval I used the following: Gonal F at a 225 units every evening and Menopur 2 powder vials every evening. Eventually I added in Cetrotide mid-cycle. Dr. Turocy eventually increased my Gonal F to 300 units every evening based on my response. This protocol led to me producing/retrieving 20 egg, 16 of which was fertilized and 8 which became blastocysts (3 Day5 and 5 Day6).
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Sakari Joseph)
My nurse, care coordinator, and the entire nursing staff at Columbia were amazing to work with. They were all professional, efficient, and kind.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
Columbia Fertility Clinic was a breath of fresh air. Every appointment was quick and efficient. My only hope is that they had earlier bloodwork/monitoring appointments (appointments start at 7am), but of course that's a personal preference since I had to go in late to work on my appointment days.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Columbia University.
Monitoring appointments were definitely an efficient, well oiled machine. As stated previously, my only hope would be that they would allow even earlier appointments so those with earlier work schedules could be seen earlier.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jenna Turocy at Columbia University.
My insurance fully covers 3 rounds of IVF and unlimited IUIs. I only was responsible for medication copays.
Describe Jenna Turocy's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
Dr. Turocy encouraged us to transfer 1 embryo, which aligned with our insurance requirements.

Dr. Turocy was so helpful throughout the consultation, monitoring, and retrieval process. During my first cycle, she helped me quell fears of the procedure as well as walked me through any concerns I may have with fertility. She came in for some of my monitoring appointments and made me feel comfortable with progress...great at answering them truthfully but also emphatic in her approach to care...She told me right after my retrieval how many eggs were retrieved and then told me the day after how many were frozen...
Nursing staff [at Columbia University] was great - friendly during the monitoring and fast/efficient at getting me observed and then out to the rest of my day...Clean, nice clinic that works as a well-oiled machine for monitoring. Really easy to schedule appointments and does a great job in maintaining patient privacy with encrypted emails. Wish the clinic's waiting room had a bit more space because it gets busy pretty often. After-hours line is helpful in triaging critical questions to the nurses/doctors...

During my first cycle, she helped me quell fears of the procedure as well as walked me through any concerns I may have with fertility. She came in for some of my monitoring appointments and made me feel comfortable with progress. After the first retrieval, we had a helpful conversation on whether I should shoot for a second one and with her guidance I continued with another cycle. All in all, got exactly the results I wanted due to her help.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Ask the tough questions - Dr. Turocy is great at answering them truthfully but also emphatic in her approach to care.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Jenna was extremely helpful in setting goals for my egg freezing catered to where I was in my life stage. She was always caring about following up with me with any questions and helped me work through any concerns (and mistakes!) on my end.
Describe the protocols Jenna Turocy used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
We started with a consultation where Jenna had a 1:1 call with me walking through they 'why' of egg freezing and the 'how' of the injections and procedure. After a little bit of blood work, we decided to move forward with the procedure. Was sent instructions on how to do the injections and then went for morning monitoring every other day to eventually every day. Trigger and retrieval process was standard. She told me right after my retrieval how many eggs were retrieved and then told me the day after how many were frozen.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Sakari Joseph)
Nursing staff was great - friendly during the monitoring and fast/efficient at getting me observed and then out to the rest of my day. During the retrieval the nurses were very kind to both myself and my chaperone both times.

How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Dr. Turocy is not only a brilliant, professional, and incredibly skilled doctor that took care of my recurrent pregnancy loss workup and pregnancy with absolute dedication, but she is also a very empathetic, patient, and caring human being that remembered small personal details and understood that we needed some extra - or at least different - attention based on our history. She always listened to my questions with attention and always replied, intending to let me fully understand the science behind her words. After shopping around between many different doctors, Dr. Turocy is the only one I felt fully comfortable with and understood by, and the only one that managed to figure out that chronic endometritis following my losses was hindering me from conceiving again. My husband and I can recommend her to every woman looking for the best in terms of scientific competencies and human attention.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Don't be afraid to ask 'stupid' questions or email her. She will answer, and you will not feel stupid.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Going through recurrent pregnancy loss and still trying to conceive has been one of the most difficult journeys I've ever been on. Dr. Turocy centered her care on me as a human being and the emotional aspect and support needed that is particular to people who have gone through multiple miscarriages - a level of empathy that cannot be learned and which I have not found in any other doctor. She was never in a rush - in person or via email - and I just felt like I could close my eyes and trust her 100%.
Describe the protocols Jenna Turocy used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
After reviewing my previous procedures and test results, Dr. Turocy recommended doing a hysteroscopy. Although I had previously tested negative for chronic endometritis, the targeted biopsies she did showed that indeed I did have it, and I was put on a 3-week regimen of antibiotics. We had planned a cycle of timed intercourse after that, but I got pregnant straight after finishing my treatment and was put on lovenox and vaginal progesterone during my pregnancy.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Columbia University.
Everyone at the clinic from the nurses to the care coordinator and phlebotomists were kind and understanding and always provided timely feedback on test results and next steps.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
I did not go through IVF so my time at Columbia was fairly brief, however, I only had positive experiences with all of the staff and the way the clinic is run. The only weakness was that after my initial consultation, everything would be treated as fertility treatment (not covered by my insurance) even though it was related to recurrent pregnancy loss. I switched to a more expensive insurance to have it covered, however, I wish there would be more flexibility from the billing department.

Dr. Turocy took more thorough examinations of me, so she was able to find the reasons causing my infertility and prescribe me the right medication...Dr. Turocy asked whether we would like to transfer two embryos at once...need to take baby aspirin to prevent blood clot issues...recommended we take the PRP treatment
[Columbia University] Sometimes the waiting time could be long, and the equipment seems slightly older than the clinic I previously went to...I could self-schedule my follow-up appointments, and the egg retrieval and embryo transfer went more smoothly than in my previous clinic.
How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Unlike my previous doctor, Dr. Turocy took more thorough examinations of me, so she was able to find the reasons causing my infertility and prescribe me the right medication. As a result, I finally got a positive pregnancy result after the fourth embryo transfer (the second time with Dr. Turocy).
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Feel free to ask Dr. Turocy questions when needed.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Dr. Turocy would answer my and my husband's questions patiently and in detail. Also, when we got the negative result from the first embryo transfer with Dr. Turocy, she showed total sympathy and encouraged us not to give up hope.
Describe the protocols Jenna Turocy used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
While I have done one egg retrieval and two embryo transfers at another clinic before Dr. Turocy, Dr. Turocy suggested we do another round of egg retrieval (considering my husband and I were hoping to have two kids, and we only had two embryos left), and do embryo transfers next. Given that I was able to get healthy embryos, Dr. Turocy then focused on my endometritis issue (i.e., the uterus environment). She prescribed me antibodies and performed another test to make sure it was healed before the embryo transfer. Although my third embryo transfer (the first with Dr. Turocy) failed, Dr. Turocy further found that I would need to take baby aspirin to prevent blood clot issues (which my previous doctor didn't notice). Also, after we asked what else we could do to further increase the success rate, Dr. Turocy recommended we take the PRP treatment. As a result, we finally got a positive pregnancy result in our fourth embryo transfer (the second with Dr. Turocy).
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Columbia University.
Sometimes the nursing staff may not be responsive as expected but it was relatively rare. In general, their instructions were clear and easy to follow.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
Sometimes the waiting time could be long, and the equipment seems slightly older than the clinic I previously went to. However, I like that I could self-schedule my follow-up appointments, and the egg retrieval and embryo transfer went more smoothly than in my previous clinic.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Columbia University.
Sometimes the waiting time was long, but most of the time it went efficiently and smoothly.
Describe Jenna Turocy's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
Dr. Turocy asked whether we would like to transfer two embryos at once to increase the suss rate, but the risks would be having twins if both embryos are successfully implemented, and pregnancy with twins at an advanced age like myself may be much riskier. As a result, we decided to go for one embryo at a time.

Dr. Turocy she took the time to fully get to know me...guided me on a treatment plan taking into account all that I had already been through..laid out the pros and cons...answered all of my questions promptly and thoughtfully...her attention to detail and making me feel like we were partners in the process
[Columbia University is a] Top notch medical facility, easy scheduling, clean rooms, efficient appointments, friendly and knowledgeable staff....a lot of patients on a daily basis but you manage to feel like an individual rather than a number...Sakari and the overall nursing staff were excellent
How was your experience with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
We found Dr. Turocy after a horrible experience at a different IVF clinic where we had felt like a “number”. This clinic prided itself on being a VC-backed “spa-like” experience and completely dropped the ball on being a trusted medical facility. They botched my medication doses, instructions were always conflicting, the nurses were a rotating door and never knew my case from visit to visit. It was unbelievably frustrating and my first transfer resulted in an ectopic pregnancy. My primary doctor quit the practice in the midst of all this and I was reassigned to a provider who knew nothing about my situation and was impossible to get a hold of. It was awful and traumatic to say the least. In contrast, from my very first visit with Dr. Turocy she took the time to fully get to know me, my background, my goals and listened to my concerns with intent and compassion. She guided me on a treatment plan taking into account all that I had already been through and made sure every decision was entirely my own. She always laid out the pros and cons and answered all of my questions promptly and thoughtfully. It was a night and day experience and her attention to detail and making me feel like we were partners in the process was exactly what I needed. I cannot recommend her enough, and I would encourage anyone going through the IVF journey to seek her care without hesitation!!! She was one of the best doctors I’ve ever worked with and I am so glad we found her and CUFC.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and be an active participant in the journey! Dr. Turocy is open and forthcoming and never makes you feel ashamed for wanting to be hands on and understand all of the nuances of treatment
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jenna Turocy at Columbia University?
Incredible dedication to detail, no question was “stupid”, Dr. Turocy was incredibly patient without me through the whole process and always took the time to either be there in person or follow up directly to make sure I felt comfortable and an active participant every step of the way. She always listened to my concerns and acted accordingly. I felt totally “seen” and in extremely competent hands.
Describe the protocols Jenna Turocy used in your cycles at Columbia University and their degree of success.
We relocated our frozen embryos from our other facility to CUFC, so I went through an FET with Dr. Turocy. Standard protocol of 2 weeks of estrace, 6 days of PIO injections and then a single euploid embryo transferred
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Sakari )
Sakari and the overall nursing staff were excellent. My visits were always on time, they always remembered me, followed up with clear instructions promptly and made the whole experience seamless

Dr. Turocy answered all my questions and made me feel calm in an overwhelming time. She went on vacation during my retrieval and still checked in on me, to make sure I was okay. I think she could sense how nervous I was. I felt heard as well which is very important...I felt like a human because I had a lot of questions and was very nervous about all the procedures. I felt like she calmly answered my questions and gave me all the information that I needed, which at times was overwhelming but also relaxed me to know step by step what was happening.
They [Columbia University nursing staff] were all so kind and excited about my journey. I am a “hard stick” and they were so nice to me...It was nice to go to an appointment at 7am.
