She [Dr. Jessica Salas Mann] is constantly rushing, seems overwhelmed by patients, no control over her team, and was cavalier with embryos because we could “make more”. While in for the appt to confirm my baby no longer had a heartbeat she quickly switched from “I’m so sorry” to well what did you do? And proceeded to question me on where I had been or what I did to cause it. Very insensitive and just appalling behavior from a doctor.
Everything that could go wrong did at this clinic [Institute for Reproductive Medicine & Science at Saint Barnabas]. There are two compassionate people working here and that’s Keri a nurse, and Meg an ultrasound tech...their restrictive schedule of only doing procedures on a Wednesday impacted results...Approximately $50,000 spent between out of pocket and insurance for one retrieval, two FETs, two D&Cs, and one hysteroscopy.

While she was nice and seemed understanding from our initial consult. It became clear that was a facade. She is constantly rushing, seems overwhelmed by patients, no control over her team, and was cavalier with embryos because we could “make more”. Be better. Listen to your patients, like truly listen. It’s clear you don’t and are quite dismissive.

Dr. Mann and her staff life you in on the first diagnostic cycle and then are dismissive, rude, and not responsive. She mentioned a finding in my pathology after a hysteroscopy then forgot to review in my post op appt.

Starting out we did a saline sonogram which lead to a D&C to remove tissue from an unexplained miscarriage of a natural pregnancy. She stated multiple times that there was just so much tissue but didn’t investigate why that could have been.
Egg retrieval followed after multiple delays and waits from their contracted embryo screening company. Medication times were not given for the medicines. Also their restrictive schedule of only doing procedures on a Wednesday impacted results.
7 eggs retrieved, 6 fertilized, 4 made it to Blast. Genetic testing left 3 normal embryos.
Moved into a frozen FET, that failed. Performed another saline sono that I requested and it showed a possible polyp. A hysteroscopy was performed and showed evidence of Adenomyosis.
The next FET followed an Adeno protocol. This was successful but ended in a miscarriage.

Denise was horrible and I’m shocked she still has a job. She did not communicate crucial pieces like medication times, poor or no response to email. Concerns raised to her, and then Dr. Mann about this only made her vindictive. Her phone call updates stopped. Simple requests like medication times or a highlight in the portal message were ignored. This caused a delay in an FET. Results for embryos making it to Blast were delayed by days and came at the end of the 11th day as opposed to the promised 7th day update. During that time calls and messages were ignored. The absolute last straw was when she ignored an email where we requested our embryo gender for transfer and she didn’t respond (on par for her) and then never asked or discussed the embryo selection prior and on the day of Dr. Mann said “I see you didn’t want to know the gender and wanted us to pick.” She was caught off guard when I clarified what we wanted but it was too late to do anything. Dr. Mann then tried to say this was the better one but later it was revealed they had the same grading. So this was Denise being vindictive.

Go somewhere else. They have poor communication, unresponsive, short hours, and restrictive procedure days. So that severely impacts cycles and results. They boast the large staff of doctors at all locations but refuse to do what’s best for the patient to keep the billables in house.
