What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
My one piece of advice would be to trust the team. Dr Scotchie, Dr Murray, the nursing team, and the embryologists are all very passionate about what they do and it is reflected in the way they do their work. Ask questions if you have them and you will receive a helpful response quickly.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
Both providers, Dr Scotchie and Dr Murray, are very personable and spent the needed time talking through the process and answering our questions. We didn't feel rushed during the appointments or consult. The nursing team was also super helpful and answered my ridiculous amount of questions very quickly.
Describe the protocols Jessica Scotchie used in your cycles at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
We had an antagonist protocol. The trigger was Lupron due to PCOS to help prevent OHSS. As we talked through the protocol, my previous labs with high testosterone and PCOS was the rationale behind it. The Follistim dosage was adjusted one time during the cycle. We were also recommended to do a FET instead of fresh to help reduce the risk of OHSS. Overall, 20 eggs were retrieved and 18 of them were mature.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine. (Assigned nurse: Linda)
Our primary nurse was great! She was a clear communicator and answered all of my questions thoroughly. She had vacation right before stims started and over the first few days but had reached our prior to leaving to make sure we had everything we needed, reassured us the other nurses knew our treatment plan, and when she was back.
Describe your experience with Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
Overall, I have nothing but positive things to say about TRM. We have had a fantastic experience so far. We have not yet completed the FET so I can't speak to that portion. The initial consultation, history, testing, communication and stim process has been seamless. The only bummer was not being able to have my husband there during recovery for egg retrieval due to Covid restrictions. However, I would rather that be the case than to have something happens that puts the cycle at risk.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
We used the first responders discount and paid $12,000 for the cycle (plus the FET). This included all of the monitoring visits
Describe Jessica Scotchie's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
TRM recommends one embryo transfer over multiple embryo transfer. That is also our preference so we didn't have a lengthy discussion regarding the topic.
She [Dr. Jessica Scotchie] sat down with me and we went over all of my paperwork from my previous doctors. She asked a lot of questions and was in no hurry to end our meeting. She told me exactly what my next step needed to be and has been great about keeping me informed on next steps...Her bedside manner isn't off the charts, but she's still a nice lady.
Due to Covid, they [Tennessee Reproductive Medicine] are low staffed which means they haven't been as fast to communicate, which is understandable. They are apologetic and are very helpful...the clinic as a whole is very nice and follows up with me. It has been a very good experience so far
How was your experience with Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
She has been great making sure I get all the testing I need done. We had one IUI done and since it didn't work we are moving forward with IVF. I have only spoken to her twice, but the clinic as a whole is very nice and follows up with me. It has been a very good experience so far. We first tried the Nashville Fertility Clinic and were definitely treated like just another number there.

My gynecologist already had me do multiple rounds of clomid and 2 IUI's so Scotchie found it was best to move on. She was open to more IUI's but after one of those I was ready to move on to IVF.

I haven't gotten to use them very much yet because we're still in early stages, but so far they have been fabulous. Super nice and supportive and answer any questions I have.

One reason I'm going to this clinic is that they offer a Guarantee IVF Program which I am trying to get into. So far, the costs have been like most other fertility places I've heard of.
Describe Jessica Scotchie's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. Scotchie is extremely compassionate. She addresses your concerns in a way that makes you feel validated and heard. She is very thorough when discussing plan of care options taking time to explain everything to where you can understand why...She will always educate you and show compassion on every level...Trust her. Ask all the questions, no matter what they are.
The [Tennessee Reproductive Medicine - Chattanooga] clinic is very busy, especially during a stim cycle with the lab draws and ultrasounds. They run like a well oiled machine during that time, however, for some patients they can feel rushed through. My advice as a patient would be to speak up if you have questions. Do not feel intimidated by the busy schedule. They are always willing to listen and explain things, I say this from experience. The atmosphere for a one on one appointment is much different. There is no rushing and all questions and concerns are addressed.
How was your experience with Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
When I had my initial consultation with Dr. Scotchie it was via telehealth; even though we were unable to meet in person she made me feel so comfortable. Ever since that appointment she has continued to make me feel as though I am her only patient. Her & her partner Dr. Murray are a dream team and operate in unison to help provide the best care to all of their patients.
I had a rare complication from egg retrieval that no one could have predicted. I had contacted her answering service multiple times after hours, she was quick to call me back answer all my questions and help me find answers. When I ended up in the ER because of this specific complication, she was operating on the same day at the same hospital. She made it a point to come give me a hug and check on me. I truly am thankful for her kindness and willingness to help in any situation that she is able.

Initial testing after consulting - HSG, labs, baseline ultrasound, Laparoscopic excision of endometriosis
After excision surgery - 3 months of letrozole then pursue IUI. We chose to only complete 1 IUI then we moved to IVF.
Egg retrieval - menopur, gonal F, start cetrotide on day 6, lupron & HCG trigger. I am unsure of all the doses. The only dose that changed during stims was the gonal F. I had to increase it 3 times.

Linda is Compassionate and helpful. If she does not know the answer to a question she seeks help. She is good at keeping me informed of changes in our plan when needed.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
We were able to file most things through insurance for labs, testing, office visits. We paid the difference in what insurance did not cover. The costs not covered were IUI & IVF. My specific insurance plan, at the time, alloted 10,000 to be spent in one lifetime. We were able to use that for IUI and egg retrieval. In order to start IVF our quote was estimated at 15,000 without stim medications (This is not including the HSG, Laparoscopic surgery, or baseline ultrasound and labs. We spent roughly 7,000 on those test before starting any infertility treatments). The stim medications were to be paid out of pocket to get the best pricing. We spent approximately 6,000 on medications for my egg retrieval.
Describe Jessica Scotchie's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
The first things Dr. Scotchie asks me when I see her are about my job, my family, and how I am doing emotionally as I deal with infertility. ... She is realistic and includes facts and statistics in the information she provides. I also found that she really does allow me to make choices for myself, and doesn't push me to try elective or experimental tests and treatments.
This clinic [Tennessee Reproductive Medicine] is in-network for patients with Progyny insurance, which was a huge bonus for me. I feel that they are very organized and as efficient as possible, given the number of patients they see. I had to wait several weeks for an initial consultation, but that gave me confidence that this was a good clinic to see since it is clearly busy.
How was your experience with Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Scotchie has completely changed our outlook on our situation. I leave every appointment feeling encouraged and hopeful, with a complete understanding of the protocol, goals, and expectations for my treatment cycle. I also found that she really does allow me to make choices for myself, and doesn't push me to try elective or experimental tests and treatments.

The first things Dr. Scotchie asks me when I see her are about my job, my family, and how I am doing emotionally as I deal with infertility. She spent a great deal of time just getting to know my husband and me before we discussed anything medical. She also made it very clear that it's important to her that we receive the best care and have a chance at becoming parents to a biological child. At the end of our first consultation, she thanked us for giving her the chance to help her.
Describe the protocols Jessica Scotchie used in your cycles at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
My diagnostic testing showed no clear indicators for my recurrent miscarriage diagnosis. The only issue I was having was infrequent ovulation, and she prescribed letrozole and progesterone for timed intercourse. She was realistic with the timeline, and we will be on this protocol for 6 months before considering IVF. She took into account that I have a limited time left on my current infertility insurance before I have to switch, and she is making sure we get treatment that will fit that timeline so it's covered. We are just starting the timed intercourse protocol, but she was hopeful that we'd have success based on her past patients with similar medical histories.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
The nursing staff is extremely kind. They are always positive and answer any questions I have. They can take a bit of time to get things done, but that is absolutely worth it to me.

This clinic accepts Progyny insurance (the only clinic within a 120-mile radius for me), so I have not paid a dime so far.
Describe Jessica Scotchie's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. Scotchie generally will not transfer multiple embryos due to the risks associated with multiples. I am thankful for this low-risk approach.
She [Dr. Jessica Scotchie] didn't let us leave until our questions were answered and never made us feel rushed. We've never been clueless about our treatments at any point, which helps ease anxiety. We never felt like we were put on a one-size-fits all treatment plan. She really cares about your wants and needs...She didn't have a strong preference [in regards to ESET Approach]...I look forward to working with her again!
The only thing I don't like is that they [the Tennessee Reproductive Medicine clinic] work off of voicemail. Unless your nurse or billing dept. gave you their direct extension, you have to leave them a voicemail and wait for someone to call you back. They are pretty good about calling back that day...Our primary nurse, Linda, has been spectacular. She has been so patient with me when I come to her with a list of questions and concerns.

I look forward to working with her again!

Come in with a list of questions - it will be easier on you so you don't forget to ask something.

For our IUI's, I took letrazole on cycle days 4-10, tested for a positive ovulation day, and began progesterone the day after the procedure; and then took a pregnancy test 2 weeks later.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine. (Assigned nurse: Linda Miller)
Our primary nurse, Linda, has been spectacular. She has been so patient with me when I come to her with a list of questions and concerns. I really wanted someone who would explain to me why things are done, rather than "here, this is what you need to do for the next two weeks," because understanding the reasoning brings me comfort; and she does that. During COVID, treatments were pushed back a few weeks, and she stayed in contact with me to give me updates without me having to reach out to her. Seriously, when I say they make me feel appreciated and comfortable, I mean it.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
Our IVF (associated labs, anesthesia, transfer, retrieval, freezing, preimplantation genetic testing) was $12k with a law enforcement discount. Meds related to IV are $5k-6k. Our two IUI's were $700 each. Random labs (like vitamin D, estrogen, semen analysis, etc.) needed prior to diagnosis ended up costed a few hundred dollars, after insurance (insurance did help with diagnosing infertility, but nothing after that). Endometrial biopsy prior to transfer will be $100 if insurance doesn't assist with that. Follow up visits are $188 each.
Describe Jessica Scotchie's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
She didn't have a strong preference. She did explain how multiple embryo transfers have higher success rate (must one not take, there's still another that may. They do have a great success rate of single transfers, which is another reason I chose them.
What specific things went wrong at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
Lost appointments
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
The only issue we've ever had was being double charged for a semen analysis, but that was quickly taken care of and refunded.
Dr. Scotchie was always willing to listen to issues at appointments but definitely follows the patients lead as far as what treatments to proceed with once she made her suggestions. She always laid out the pros and cons and was aware of the not only financial but emotional choices involved with treatment...I was originally placed on 2.5 mg of Letrozole to induce ovulation since I have PCOS. I was regularly ovulating, but was not having success with the one follicle. I voiced my concerns and she agreed to let me go up to 5.0 mg Letrozole which produced 2 follicles but I have still not become pregnant yet. She suggests moving on to IUI if not successful with timed intercourse.
The doctors at TRM are great, but I was on average taken back about 10 minutes after my appointment time which can be difficult when you have to take off work to make appointments. However, the nurses and appointment schedulers are good at returning voicemails (you always leave a message) in a timely matter and are reassuring when you have issues...The online portal has been down which has made communicating test results take much longer. Originally I would receive them via portal from Dr. Scotchie but now the nurses are calling which takes about a week to get progesterone test results back. However, the nurses are very friendly and kind on the phone and in office.

We are lucky to have insurance handle a portion of our treatment. Ovulation inductions cycles have cost us about $100 which include medication, ultrasound, and progesterone blood draw. Initial consultation was not covered and it was $300.
My numbers were stellar. ... I could tell something was wrong with me on the pill ... I told the doctor [Dr. Scotchie] Then I got on the table and - my numbers were terrible. She said birth control would have nothing to do with it, it was suddenly my age, egg counts plummet at my age... so basically it’s all my fault. ... Feeling like I was being fed a line I did a consult with the top doctor in the country and he said of course birth control is suppressive, everyone knows that, he doesn’t give it to patients over 30 and is careful with it in patients under 30. Such a frustrating experience. I switched clinics.
We had a terrible experience here [at TN Repro Med]. They didn’t listen to us. They told us they would send us numbers for x and sent us numbers for y. The man’s collection is frankly horrifyingly embarrassing but no one gives you any guidance or assurance it’s just - go do this. Awful. We would be told we could do x y z by the clinic director then would get on the phone with the nurse she would have no idea. We would be told we could do multiple retrieval’s by the doctor then the clinic director would send us numbers for something else with zero indication the doctor had said anything about our request. We felt like we were dictating our treatment plan not vice versa. Our nurse never came to meet us until the very end (she was “busy.”) If this was a dentist - fine. But this is the most sensitive work. The clinic didn’t treat us with compassion or care at all, we felt
How was your experience with Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
The doctor seemed like she knew what she was talking about but as the treatment progressed our opinion changed. Something that began as not a terribly big deal, let’s just try it, insurance covers it turned into handw down the most frustrating experience of my life. Just shoot people straight and let them mourn it, don’t create false hope.

My numbers were stellar. I was put on birth control to make sure my menstrual cycle aligned with the clinic’s. (So their schedule matters more than the patient’s results). I could tell something was wrong with me on the pill, I couldn’t breathe well, I was a mess. I told the doctor I thought stress must be getting to me and she said no, that wouldn’t affect your numbers. Then I got on the table and - my numbers were terrible. She said birth control would have nothing to do with it, it was suddenly my age, egg counts plummet at my age... so basically it’s all my fault. (I was 39 and 7 months when I had good numbers and 39 and 8 months when my numbers were terrible). So patronizing. And made up stuff on the fly (eg my egg count dropped because I got old, not because of the pill (and I was 1 month older between the two tests - HA).

What specific things went wrong at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Scotchie is great, my overall experience has been a positive one. The day we found out that we were going to miscarry Dr. Scotchie was very honest but delicate when informing us. She called me at the end of her very busy day, around 6:30-7pm that evening to check on me and see if I had any questions. That is just one example of her patient care...is very good at communicating in an understandable and clear way but it is a TON of information and can be overwhelming.
The cost [at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine] is consistent with the going rates in our area and comparable with research done online, IVF online calculator, etc...The location is easy to find, clean, and well organized. The scheduling is done in a way that there is not much time spent waiting I. The waiting room. The most I’ve ever had to wait was maybe 20mins but that was rare...All of the nurses have been excellent. They are prompt returning phone calls, calling with lab results, and answering questions via the online portal. I will be assigned a nurse during my IVF cycle, I just haven’t reached that step yet.

Be prepared to receive much information. Dr. Scotchie is very good at communicating in an understandable and clear way but it is a TON of information and can be overwhelming.

Dr. Scotchie adddesses all of my concerns and questions in a very informative yet understandable manner. She has never made me feel silly or like I’ve asked a stupid question (although I’m sure a fair share of them would fall under those categories). She takes her time with me and makes me feel comfortable and at ease.

I have PCOS and was referred to Dr. Scotchie by my OBGYN. Dr. Scotchie surgically removed some ovarian cysts in March 2015. I was then prescribed Letrozole to help me ovulate. I got pregnant in June of 2015 and gave birth to my healthy son February 2016.
I am now 40 years old and trying to conceive again. This go round has not been as successful as above. We started the same treatment as above in May 2017. I got pregnant in February 2018 but unfortunately this resulted in a miscarriage.
My husband and I are currently undergoing the necessary steps to start IVF.

I have not reached this stage in my journey as of yet.
Dr. Scotchie has great scientific knowledge as well as an excellent bedside manner. Prior to being referred to her, we were dealing with an OB who was not very sensitive. Dr. Scotchie makes me feel heard and presents information in a way that is easy to understand.... We have had all of our testing done and I have unexplained recurrent pregnancy loss. We tried clomid for several cycles to find out if we could increase my follicle count and have a chance at a better egg that way. Unfortunately those cycles were not effective and I did not get pregnant. We are planning to move to IVF with PGS testing.
Every employee I've met has been friendly and sensitive. The facility [Tennessee Reproductive Medicine] is clean and well run. It is getting busier and busier, but once you have your first appointment they make sure they can fit you in for testing etc....I have had several nurses and they have all been great. They are all very sensitive about my miscarriages. They are all very competent and organized.... The monitoring was about $300 per cycle.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
So far the costs have mostly been testing and miscarriage treatment related. I spent probably $3,000 OOP on testing and miscarriage related procedures last year. This year we did several clomid cycles. The clomid is very affordable. The monitoring was about $300 per cycle. We are planning to do IVF in a few months and the costs do seem high compared to other clinics (about $22k total for one round with PGS testing) but at the same time the clinic has good success scores.
Describe Jessica Scotchie's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. Scotchie prefers the eSET method and has explained that this reduces the risk of multiples, and that multiples create a higher likelihood of complications.
Dr. Scotchie demonstrates compassion, thorough patient care, and an agreed upon action plan that made me feel at ease and comfortable. She left no detail overlooked when I was in her care. She personally called and left me a voicemail when I notified her office of my miscarriage. During my only full term pregnancy she saw me every week my first trimester and I can't say just how much that eased my fears and anxieties after repeated loss.
The staff [at TN Reproductive Med] is welcoming, there's never more than a couple patients waiting at the same time, and the wait times are usually minimal! TRM makes their patients feel valued and truly cared for! Scheduling an appointment is easy!... Dr. Scotchie prescribed me progesterone as an extra measure due to my two miscarriages. I had another miscarriage after my daughter was born, and started seeing Dr. Scotchie. I let her know I watched my cycles closely and noticed I may have luteal phase defect. Because of this, she suggested a small dose of femara (2.5mg?) to speed up my ovulation times. I also took progesterone every cycle. I got pregnant after 3 cycles and started lovenox shots. Unfortunately and very sadly, I also lost this baby after I stopped seeing Dr. Scotchie (because I was past the 9 week mark).

Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
Mine is different because it's not the typical infertility treatment. I thought my care was affordable.
She [Dr. Jessica Scotchie] listens, she shows kindness, compassion, and is truly empathic to how I feel about my treatment. When I had my surgery to remove my tubes that were so badly damaged, she not only cared to ask how I felt physically but emotionally. She comforted me and made me feel validated in my emotions about my situation.... Dr. Scotchie took the time to find the real reason behind my infertility and not only that but she fixed an issue that had caused me years of pain and suffering. The staff at her office is so kind and understanding. We travel 4 hours one way to see them because of how we are treated and respected.
We have only completed the diagnostic and treatment [at TN Repro Med] to repair me so that IVF would even be possible.... The only trouble I had was understanding the fee chart. But I attribute this to the fact this isn't something I deal with daily. That being said, Angie from their office, called me and spent at least an hour on the phone going through all my questions and explained things until I understood.... Our costs will be between $26,000 to $39,000. This includes medicines, genetic testing, transfers of all quality embryos until exhausted, and storage costs.

You will be cared for on a level I feel is not too commonly found among many doctors. I feel like I matter as a person.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
I had seen another doctor for treatment closer to home. He did not listen to me. I felt like I was begging for him to please treat me. Dr. Scotchie listened to me!! She and her staff treated my concerns about my fertility as if they were valid. Both my prior fertility doctor and obgyn, misdiagnosed my perforated fallopian tubes as cysts. Dr. Scotchie took the time to find the real reason behind my infertility and not only that but she fixed an issue that had caused me years of pain and suffering. Describe Jessica Scotchie's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
I appreciate that they support single transfer for the health of me and to promote a chance at live birth.
We loved doctor Scotchie. She was smart, informative, compassionate, and honest. She knows what she's doing and has an incredibly sweet personality. She encouraged us to try IUI and IVF. When our IUIs were unsuccessful, she gave us time, space, and information to decide when and if we wanted to pressure IVF. ... Dr. Scotchie really advocates for eSET but looks at the patients individually.
TRM is great at everything. The nurses are wonderful. The office staff is great. ... We did the money back guarantee IVF so it was more expensive because it included up to 3 egg retrievals and as many transfers as needed to have a successful pregnancy or your money back. ... Our IVF nurse was amazing, the other nurses are great as well, and the office and billing people are wonderful.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Scotchie was amazing. I remember on a particularly hard day I called the office and she was able to do a phone consultation with me. There are so many emotions that go with infertility and she understands that there are hard days. She didn't just listen, but gave compassionate advice.
Describe the protocols Jessica Scotchie used in your cycles at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
I seemed like a healthy 25 year old when I first met Jessica. I had been trying for nine months, but other than that I was healthy. She recommended IUI since IVF was not covered by our insurance. After three failed attempts we took a break. When we came back I was ready to try IVF. She offered me the option to do a money back guarantee program if we were healthy enough to qualify. I passed every fertility diagnostic test with flying colors. After we did an egg retrieval and a failed fresh transfer, she scheduled a frozen transfer. We were successful with our last embryo.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine. (Assigned nurse: Rachel)
I love everyone at TRM. Our IVF nurse was amazing, the other nurses are great as well, and the office and billing people are wonderful. When you finish treatment successfully you "graduate" to your OBs office. It was a bittersweet day for us because they felt like family.
Describe your experience with Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
TRM is great at everything. The nurses are wonderful. The office staff is great. Dr. Murray and Dr. Scotchie are the best and really care about their patients. They really have no weaknesses. I wish we could have stayed their throughout pregnancy and had them deliver our son.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
We had zero insurance coverage. Each IUI was around $1000 and our IVF was around $30,000 including medication. We did the money back guarantee IVF so it was more expensive because it included up to 3 egg retrievals and as many transfers as needed to have a successful pregnancy or your money back.
Describe Jessica Scotchie's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. Scotchie really advocates for eSET but looks at the patients individually. Ultimately the decision was up to us and since she did not perform our transfers we discussed and decided with our other doctor to transfer 2 embryos each time.
Dr. Scotchie has a great bedside manner. I knew that when I went in for my monitoring ultrasounds she was probably in a rush- but she was good at making sure she answered questions and explaining to me what I saw. I would have liked to have had more interactions with her but I understand this is a common issue at a busy fertility clinic.... We chose to start with Femara for 3 months before doing further diagnostics (ie. checking my tubes and sperm analysis).
The clinic [Tennessee Reproductive Medicine] was beautiful- always bright and clean. The receptionists were always sweet and welcoming. The biggest downside for me was the cost- which is an obvious and unavoidable one. I wish that they had more options for payment plans or taking care credit or been able to advise us on other options for handling the costs.... The nurses were really great at communicating with me about next steps and all.

Make sure you remember your questions when you have your time with Dr. Scotchie- sometimes I would leave and remember that I'd wished I had asked something. She was very flexible with my treatment and starting conservative which I appreciated. Utilize the patient portal- I found it was a great way to communicate with my nurses since I work during the day and had a hard time always answering their phone calls.

The office staff was always to nice! Dr. Scotchie was always so sweet and encouraging. The nurses were great at getting back to me both on the online portal and via phone calls. When I went in for a blood draw one time the nurse remembered something we had talked about the last time she drew my blood. They were just always so welcoming and sweet.
Describe the protocols Jessica Scotchie used in your cycles at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
I was diagnosed with PCOS by a previous doctor. When I started at TRM I had done a few unscusseful rounds of unmonitored clomid with my obgyn. Funds were limited for me at the time. We chose to start with Femara for 3 months before doing further diagnostics (ie. checking my tubes and sperm analysis). All 3 cycles were unsuccessful and then we had to relocate out of state. I would have loved to continue my treatment at TRM but the move made that impossible.

After a laparoscopy (performed by Dr. Scotchie) which determined that my previously diagnosed unexplained infertility was actually stage II endometriosis, she presented us with a couple of options moving forward. She allows her patients to choose how aggressive they would like their treatment to be.
They [Tennessee Reproductive Medicine] do a lot of communication through an online patient portal, which I love. It's easy and fast. I'm able to see any test results or have my questions answered within a day...TRM does a great job of making the patients feel comfortable. The staff is very friendly. In general, they do a good job of maintaining privacy. The sign in sheet is completely confidential, you would never know who had come and gone that day.
How was your experience with Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Scotchie is very kind. Upon our first meeting with her, we immediately felt comfortable and knew we were in good hands. She really takes the time to listen and get to know her patients. After briefly discussing our 2 year struggle with infertility, she was able to determine that I likely had endometriosis. My previous doctor never suggested that it was possible. After a laparoscopy, which we were able to schedule quickly and easily, endometriosis was confirmed (and removed). We are so impressed by her insight and attention to detail.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
There is nothing to be worried or embarrassed about with Dr. Scotchie. She is easy to talk to and really makes an effort to show her patients how invested she is in their success.

She allows her patients to choose how aggressive they would like their treatment to be. We decided to try on our own for a couple of months before moving on to an IUI, which she thought was great given our ages and other fertility factors.
She prescribed me 5mg of Letrozole to increase our chances slightly. She advised against Clomid as the extra estrogen could cause my endometriosis to grow back quicker.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
Initial fertility work up was around $800, largely covered by insurance.
My baseline ultrasound, pre-surgery monitoring was billed for $600, also covered by insurance.
I've not yet received a bill for my laparoscopy procedure, but the clinic did not charge for my pre-op or post-op visit.
Dr. Scotchie is both professional and personal. I always felt like I was receiving the best possible care and medical plan, but also the highest level of compassion.... What I do remember is that Dr. Scotchie was always willing to put a lot of time in to a specific treatment plan tailored for us. We endured a very complicated miscarriage with our first round of IVF, fresh transfer, that resulted in about 9 months of treatments and a diagnosis of trophoblastic disease. Dr. Scotchie was amazing through the entire journey. Afterwards, we realized my lining had been damaged and would not longer grow thick enough to sustain a pregnancy.
IUI was about $3,500 [at Tennessee Reproductive Med] I believe. We did the IVF refund guarantee program, with ICSI, and paid about $28,000, I believe. That would have been for 3 fresh IVF attempts, and all frozen transfers from those retrievals, until a live birth. We only made it thru 1 fresh retrieval with a transfer, and 1 frozen transfer. The clinic went over and above for us by allowing us to do a second fresh retrieval so that we could do embryo testing. They effectively cancelled the guarantee contract and let those fees cover the retrieval. That was a huge goodwill gesture for us and was greatly appreciated.
How was your experience with Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Scotchie was truly a blessing for me. We left our first clinic because they fell short in providing what I expected as a level of care and compassion. Dr. Scotchie exceeded my expectations in both medical care and personal compassion.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
Always take an active role in your medical care. Ask questions, challenge the status quo. Trust Dr. Scotchie.

We tried many different options during our years of treatment. I don't remember specifics. Part of enduring such a long journey is letting go of the past and focusing on the present. Dr. Scotchie reached out across the country to her peers to try to identify a treatment plan that we could try. We tried everything that she could come up with, but unfortunately nothing worked. After a grieving process (which we always felt Dr. Scotchie to be supportive of us taking time between cycles), we decided to pursue conceiving via a gestational surrogate. Dr. Scotchie has been amazing during this process. Our GS was experienced, plus works at an OBGYN office. Dr. Scotchie was supportive of trying an unmedicated cycle, which ended up being successful. She has always been willing to evaluate each situation for its own merit and make an informed timely decision.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
We had an overall great experience with nurses at this clinic. The IVF nurse being the only real exception to that. She is a bit scattered and often unprepared. The other nurses are excellent.

Describe Jessica Scotchie's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine.
Dr. Scotchie always recommended transfering 1 single embryo. During our first retrieval we did not have testing on embryos. We ended up deciding to transfer multiple embryos to my uterus during that first transfer (which ended in miscarriage). During the 1 frozen transfer we did to my uterus we transferred multiple embryos due to the state of things during unthawing. We transferred a single tested embryo to our GS.
If I'm concerned about something, she quickly finds a solution or explains to take away my concern. She also knows fertility treatments are expensive without insurance coverage! She works hard to keep costs to a minimum.
Dr Murray practices here with Dr. Scotchie. I really don't care for his style. He's very unemotional and unsympathetic.
How was your experience with Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
Jessica is very bright and lively and extremely intelligent. When I ask a question, she answers in incredible detail and can quote me statistics off the top of her head to help me understand how it all works. She is extremely compassionate with miscarriage patients and will give them a hug and tell them she's in it with them. She remembers me when she happens to see me in the hall getting a blood test and remembers my daughter's and husband's names. She is also very flexible. She will tell me what she thinks will work best, but if I want it done another way she will do it.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
She will let you follow the fertility path you want. So, at first I told her I wanted to go gently and she put me on just clomid with natural intercourse. When that didn't work, I told her I wanted more aggressive and she immediately recommended iui. She'll try to read what you want and give you the treatment you want. Ask lots of questions and then be clear about what you want because she's looking for you to tell her what you want.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
Jessica Scotchie takes time to sit and answer every single question I have, no matter how silly it might be. If I'm concerned about something, she quickly finds a solution or explains to take away my concern. She also knows fertility treatments are expensive without insurance coverage! She works hard to keep costs to a minimum. The nurses in the office are amazing. I cried when I miscarried and had to bring the embryo in for testing. The nurse took the time to sit down with me and tell me that this was not my only chance. That I would carry again and that in time this would get better.
Describe the protocols Jessica Scotchie used in your cycles at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
Jessica put me on Clomid with natural intercourse for awhile and when I didn't get results, she recommended iui with clomid only or clomid and trigger shot. She told me I had high chances of success and she was absolutely right. My first two iuis were successful, although the first resulted in miscarriage due to chromosomal abnormalities. My second iui I am now pregnant and waiting for first ultrasound. It's all looking good!

Kayla. She's young and does not have children yet, but she is so empathetic and loving. She even takes time for a little chit chat on the phone when calling with lab results and she gets excited over good hcg levels too!

Dr Murray practices here with Dr. Scotchie. I really don't care for his style. He's very unemotional and unsympathetic. When my hcg levels were initially low, Dr. Scotchie was out of the office and Dr Murray wanted me to stop progesterone supplements and let my period start before even doing another blood test to see if the levels were increasing. I pushed back and insisted on another test. Then Dr Scotchie called me the next day and said Dr. Murray had jumped the gun and she did not want me to stop progesterone, but instead "give this pregnancy every chance."
She [Dr. Scotchie] is the kindest Dr I have ever known... Then, when I didn't get the results I wanted, I went back and asked for something more aggressive. She suggested IUI. I asked about IVF, but she encouraged me away from it because she said my fertility problems didn't warrant that huge of an expenditure to get a positive result. She was absolutely right and saved us thousands of dollars.
I was always [treated by the staff at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine as] an individual. The receptionists, nurses and Dr Scotchie knew me and my family. They remembered who came with me before and knew my family member's names... I miscarried naturally and had to bring it in to Kayla. It was SO hard. I cried and she looked me in the eyes and told me that even though this was so hard, it would eventually get better and I WOULD get another chance.
How was your experience with Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
Dr Scotchie is very responsive. When I first came to her, I didn't want to do anything aggressive. She responded with a treatment plan that was gentle. I asked about IVF, but she encouraged me away from it because she said my fertility problems didn't warrant that huge of an expenditure to get a positive result. And extremely knowledgeable as well. Any question I had, she had a detailed answer and took as much time as I needed to talk it all out.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
Let Dr. Scotchie tell you what she thinks you should do to achieve results. She will let you drive if you want, but you may not know what will work the fastest. I wasted my first year with her because I didn't plain out ask her to run things.

Describe the protocols Jessica Scotchie used in your cycles at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
I had 6 cycles of Femara with natural intercourse along with prometrium and estradiol luteal support. I got pregnant once but miscarried within a week. After a 6 month break for my emotional well being, we went back for IUI. My first iui we did an HSG first. This revealed one distended tube and the other with a small block that was cleared with the dye. I then had 100mg Clomid, follicle ultrasound and IUI. It was successful, but my twins had chromosomal disorders and I miscarried at 8 weeks. The second IUI was 100mg Clomid, follicle ultrasound and then trigger shot because I was producing 4-6 mature follicles and we didn't want any more! IUI was successful and I'm currently 12 weeks with a healthy singleton.

There was one time when I saw Dr. Murray. I am sure he is a great Dr as well, but he is not as verbal with his compassion as Dr Scotchie. When my first IUI was successful, my HCG levels were low to begin with. He was the one in the office when my results came in and he told me there was no point and it was not a viable pregnancy. I was to stop my progesterone support and allow the pregnancy to terminate. This was a terrible thing to hear. I called back the next day and talked to Dr Scotchie. She told me not to stop, but to give the pregnancy every chance, which is what any woman going through fertility treatments wants to do. Unfortunately, Dr Murray was right that the low HCG indicated a problem. But I'm glad I continued for 8 weeks to carry the babies as long as possible and give them a chance.

I will say that she quoted a price for IUI and IVF and I did receive a price sheet that was much much higher with all the hidden fees and extras that were not included.

Dr. Scotchie is great to deal with. She is very compassionate and explains every step of the process along the way very well. She also is great at answering any questions we have no matter what they might be.... Letrozole was prescribed to cause ovulation. This took around 3 months before we were pregnant with our first child. It was prescribed again for around 9 months before becoming pregnant.
The clinic [TN Repro Med] looks very new and is nicer than most other doctors' office. Some procedures are covered by insurance and some aren't, so be sure to get a price sheet and quote up front so you aren't shocked by any bills.... We see different nurses each time, but they are all great to work with.... Office visits with ultrasounds to track ovulation are around $350 per visit. Letrozole is purchased from another pharmacy and is very inexpensive.

She [Dr. Jessica Scotchie] recommended surgery to check for endometriosis. I was given the option of letrozole only during a cycle, letrozole with IUI, or surgery. She recommended IUI with letrozole and to start progesterone two days after. After having my second miscarriage (first under her care), she recommended recurrent pregnancy loss labs. After 3 failed IUIs, she pushed for IVF. I was not quite ready for that so I decided to seek out a Reproductive immunologist.
Just like at most clinics, expect to wait [at TN Reproductive Med- Chattanooga] . I really love the staff they have. I always felt like they truly remembered me and knew me. The staff seems to really work well together. I do wish the prices were better compared to some clinics. I wish that I had been monitored more during my cycles.... Cost of semen analysis $150 Cost of IUI with letrozole $900
How was your experience with Jessica Scotchie at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine?
She is very friendly and does explain things well. I did not like that she wasn’t open to other treatment options I wanted to try. After IUIs with only letrozole, she wanted to move straight to IVF. I am planning on going back after a 1 year hiatus and I’m hoping she will be more open regarding the treatment I’m interested in (injectables and immune treatment).

I took 3 rounds of letrozole, followed by 3 rounds of letrozole with IUI [with Dr. Jessica Scotchie]. After the last failed attempt she recommended moving on to IVF...She's friendly and efficient, and she was patient in answering all my questions. I would have appreciated a slightly more personal approach, but she was always kind, supportive and direct. She did not speak to the emotional toll of managing infertility...She didn't rush me through my initial consultation. She set realistic expectations.
$500 per IU, $280 per ultrasound, $300 monitoring fee [at Tennessee Reproductive Medicine]...They're very responsive and easy to communicate with. Their limited hours on Friday's and weekends could be frustrating. Everyone was friendly, sincere, positive, and realistic...[nurses are] Very friendly and helpful...After I switched Doctors, communication between clinics was difficult. However, they resolved that within 1 treatment cycle.

My only issue is that she [Dr. Jessica Schotchie] doesn’t change the course of treatment, we just keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. We only have 5 embryos left and I do not want to waste them... I understand the need to attempt to protect a patients health but sometimes I wonder if we had transferred 2 would one have implanted while the other didn’t
the first round of donor egg IVF was around 20,000 [At TN Reproductive Med] as we used a split or half batch and received 12 eggs. We got 4 embryos from that round. No baby! This current round has been similar to date in cost because we used a known donor who declined reimbursement so we are around $25,000 with everything we will need

She [Dr. Scotchie] is excellent and very good at what she does...She was just so great in finding the reason for my repeated miscarriages. She outlined a clear plan and answered all of our questions over multiple appointments. She has even personally called me to speak about test results. I have never had that happen even from my pcp....There was a little bit of confusion about when my injections would start and it was a miscommunication. However, once I realized we were not on the same page I was able to immediately email my nurse and dr. Scotchie and get it clarified.

After 8 years of other doctors not explaining or helping us at all, it was such a relief to meet [Dr. Jessica Scotchie]. We learned more in our first visit with her than with any other doctor. We have just started our treatments but she has given us so much hope. She explains everything, makes sure she answers all your questions, & she truly cares...We had genetic testing, bloodwork, HSG, & we were about to start our first IUI & the pandemic hit. She is very thorough.
