How was your experience with Jewel Amui-Bellon at Women for Women Medical Associates?
I switched clinics and came to Dr. Amui because I’m a high risk patient and my previous doctor was scared and nervous and that energy was being transferred to me. I wanted a doctor who could be honest and upfront and set a course of treatment for me that was safe and still respecting my wishes. Dr. Amui provided me with that atmosphere. She’s not all doom and gloom. She looks for the silver lining and provides hope. I truly feel like I’m apart of my care and treatment plan. I’ve not had a successful full pregnancy yet - but I have been pregnant which is a first in over then years. I’m confident we will get there and I will have a healthy pregnancy.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Jewel Amui-Bellon at Women for Women Medical Associates?
If you are in a rush probably not the best place for u. She schedules appointments but gives each patient the time they need and deserve. That can sometimes push appointment times out a bit. I will say she’s an early bird so I’m always the first patient of the day. She’s also super accommodating to out of state patients. There are tons of us who travel hours just to be treated by Dr. Amui.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Jewel Amui-Bellon at Women for Women Medical Associates?
In Dr. Amui’s clinic you feel like part of the family. You are never ever rushed. All of your answers and concerns are always addressed. And the staff is amazing, nurturing, caring and prayerful.
Describe the protocols Jewel Amui-Bellon used in your cycles at Women for Women Medical Associates and their degree of success.
Dr. Amui is a pro opponent of 3 day fresh transfers. She only uses HCG as triggers (so no Lupron). She indicated to me there’s been research that shows Lupron ineffective with fresh transfers. She’s also explained that embryos desire an environment closest to its natural state (the womb). So she prefers 3 day transfer so u don’t lose healthy viable embryos for unexplained reasons. This is much more significant for older woman who are already starting with a low number of eggs and embryos to begin with. Dr. Amui monitors you very closely. I’ve never been over stimulated (ohss). My stinking days have ranged from 7-10 days using Gonal-F, Menopur and Cetrotide. My first cycle I produced 7 eggs and 6 fertilized and made it to viable embryos. My second cycle I produced 14 eggs 8 matured and fertilized. Each time I did 3 day fresh transfers where we transferred 4 embryos. All non tested of course. My first transfer amounted in a chemical and my second transfer was a fail. I’m gearing up for my third transfer once the clinics open back up and I can get my insurance to cover... fingers crossed - my last two cycles have been out of pocket. I just also say Dr. Amui’s clinic offers a huge discount to self pay patients. All in it was about 10k a cycle minus the meds.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Women for Women Medical Associates.
Dr. Amui has an ultrasound tech, phlebotomist, CNA and front desk staff. They are all equally wonderful! Never forgets a name. Answers any and all questions. Kid u knot I’ve told Ms. Valentina she’s the ONLY person who’s ever done ultrasounds on me that didn’t hurt. I have fibroids and feel everything and never once with her!!
Describe your experience with Women for Women Medical Associates.
The clinic is small, intimate and beautiful clinic. Super clean!! Two exam rooms total - but Dr. Amui has her office she meets with patients in and the nurses have a office where they go over medication administration. It’s a little tricky to get to with GPS but the clinic staff is awesome with guiding you to them. Oddly enough they sit right in front of huge RMA of NJ where u truly feel like just a number and not a person. Her office is the complete opposite of that atmosphere.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Jewel Amui-Bellon at Women for Women Medical Associates.
Dr. Amui fees for out of pocket 3600 and then Delaware Valley where she performs the retrieval and transfer was another 6k out of pocket.
Describe Jewel Amui-Bellon's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Women for Women Medical Associates.
I explained this in my previous post. Dr. Amui feels passionate about fresh transfers. Which means they are untested. She uses the guidelines for age and untested to determine how many to transfer. For me it’s always been multiple transfer due to age. What she doesn’t transfer she freezes at day 3. I’m gearing up for my first FET using my frozen 3 day embryos.
