[Dr. John Frattarelli] recommended transferring 2 of the untested embryos which resulted in both implanting but resulted in a vanishing twin. He educated us as to why that may have occured. The other embryo resulted in having trisomy 13 and severe abnormalities resulting in a loss after 18 weeks. My 2nd transfer was with 1 tested embryo but miscarried after 6 weeks. I was pleased with his approach but saddened that it didn’t succeed
[Advanced Reproductive Medicine and Gynecology of Hawaii is a] Very great clinic where everything throughout the process (ultrasounds, blood work, retrieval and transfer) was handled at which makes it more convenient. Environment is very nice and clean. Very great clinic where everything throughout the process (ultrasounds, blood work, retrieval and transfer) was handled at which makes it more convenient. Environment is very nice and clean. Parking is also validated

IVF retrieval was covered by my insurance. Th transfer was at a reasonable cost and included majority of the medications. Reasonable cost for the embryo cyropreservation and genetic screening as well

Not much empathy when transfers failed or lining wasn’t getting thick enough. Sometimes I felt like he was trying to redirect me to other options, ie surrogacy. ... Dr. Fratteralli is very educated about the ivf process. However sometimes I felt just like a number because all my embryo transferred have failed thus far. ... So far 4 embryo transferred with 1 bfp that resulted in miscarriage. Getting ready for my next cycle.

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. If you’re still unclear, his support staff will help you.

Did ivf transfer with my own embryos that failed in 2015. Currently doing ivf with donor eggs with the Assured Refund Plan. So far 4 embryo transferred with 1 bfp that resulted in miscarriage. Getting ready for my next cycle.

Staff is very efficient and organized. They also have several offices throughout the state of Hawai’i. They respond via email or phone call. The only “weakness” would be their main clinic is on Oahu, so outer islanders still have to pay for travel expenses. But the clinic will try and accommodate your schedule.

Dr. John was by far the best one. He was very warm, easy to talk to, and honest from the start. We trusted him implicitly with our care. His professionalism and bed side manner are top notch. I would highly recommend him to anyone dealing with fertility issues.
They [Fertility Institute of Hawaii] are very busy so the appointments are short and to the point. If you feel like you need to be coddled a lot, this may not be the clinic for you. Everyone who works there are is very nice. I did not have a problem with any one there. It was nice to have follow up appointments on Maui.... [nurse] Aisling always took the time to call us and check up on us even after I was released to my OBGYN....

We used an egg donor because Dr. Frattarelli knew that we would not be able to conceive with our own eggs due to previous failed cycles. We used 7 donor eggs, 5 fertilized, 4 became blastocysts and we transferred 1. Our son was born in September 2016.

Even though she was super busy, Aisling always took the time to call us and check up on us even after I was released to my OBGYN. She even sent my son a gift when he was born.

He [Dr. John Frattarelli] isn’t warm or have good bedside manner. I did a consult only and knew from that first visit that I would not continue treatment from him. With this type of situation you want someone who is understanding and warm from the very start...He has his staff do all the work up and so he doesn’t spend time to get to know you as a person

Every [Fertility Institute of Hawaii] stuff is so nice and work as a professional. I’ve never had any problems with my appointment and all the treatment. It just only one thing that Dr. John is super busy so you might have to wait for a while. But that means he is popular so I didn’t mind to wait...My coordinator Aki was sweetest and considerate person I’ve ever met. My coordinator Aki was sweetest and considerate person I’ve ever met. Since day 1 she stands by my side, give me all the explanation I need, be there for me. Since I’m single I have a friend who help me to being sperm donor, I did all the treatment by myself. But I never felt uncomfortable or worried or nervous. It’s because of Aki, she talks to me, email me all the time, she responds right away. Even on the surgery day, I couldn’t get Uber somehow my account wasn’t working, I was so upset almost crying and called Aki. She was really professional she got me a cab in 10mins, told me it’s ok to be late for my appointment. She is always so kind, being just like my sister or mom(I mean she is much younger than that!) . Without her I wouldn’t go through this experience. Definitely second time, if she wasn’t there I wouldn’t have done that. I’m appreciate how she is, and be there for me. I actually miss her so much. Thank you so much for being excellent coordinator for me. Because of you, I had an awesome experience that I’d never forget.

He wanted me to have safe and effective treatment and had aggressive and less aggressive routes for me choose. He also took all my questions, and I had a lot. I mean a lot. He also did my surgery to help disconnect a blocked tube that could not be saved. He said this would help conceive and keep an embryo safe instead of possibly being washed out by fluid. I trusted him and am glad I did the surgery although I have yet to conceive but I feel better knowing it’s taken care of.

He is a great doctor and very knowledgeable.
Describe the protocols John Frattarelli used in your cycles at Fertility Institute of Hawaii and their degree of success.
I did consultation with him at his office. First we tried timed intercourse using an app for fertility. Afterwards I was tested for Tubal blockage and that result was that my right tube is blocked. With that information I scheduled and underwent a surgery to look at my tubes and only one was blocked that was a repairable tubal blockage and that result was that my right tube is blocked. With that information I scheduled and underwent a surgery to look at my tubes and only one was blocked that was not repairable, so it was severed and now I only have one presumably working tube. Subsequently after the surgery, I stopped getting my periods which was concerning, but Dr. Frattarellis said that was most likely my PCOS that was affecting my cycles. That resulted in my need to take ovulation prescriptions for each IUI. So far, I have not conceived.

The office workers and staff treated us like a human. We had an extremely good fertility nurse that took care of us. The front desk and the flambologist were very nice. We still go back there and visit. Dr. John was more robotic than family oriented. I heard they got a lot better.

It's a one time shop. You can get everything done there. Bloodwork, ultrasounds, egg retrieval, the lab.It was convenient, time saving, and easy. We also got all labs and reports done there and fast results. A plus= free parking!!
