Dr. Nichols was very thorough and very understanding of our situation and very knowledgeable about where we needed to go from hereHe took the time and effort to go over all of our options and explain the pros and cons of each option and why we could do one procedure versus the other... Dr. Nichols took a lot of time to go over how we needed to be tested and what the test results meant and what our options were as far as IVF
I really like this clinic [PREG] and everybody was friendly from the billing people to the nurses to the doctors and they really took the time via email and or in person or on the phone to communicate with us about our options... Right now the only thing I had to pay for was my ultrasound which was $280... The nursing staff took my blood and was very very nice. She was very friendly and communicated with me about everything she was doing

If we move forward with IVF, eSET is recommended for us. I think it's a good idea personally, I would rather not have twins due to the risks....Dr. Nichols was thorough and explained things easily. He [Dr. Nichols] set my expectations and didn't sugar coat anything... He really reassured me and didn't give me false hope. That's what I always look for when dealing with a doctor. He was patient and kind and made me feel comfortable. I have stage 4 endometriosis and have been dealing with this disease for almost 20 years.... That he is really caring and didn't make you feel like just another patient. He made me feel at home and important
Everything was great. Very clean environment. Everyone [PREG] was approachable and very attentive. They made me feel relaxed and honestly like I was family. Not at anytime did the make me feel out of place. Prior to my visit I was skeptical and nervous and felt like they were all about money but I didn't get that vibe when I walked through the doors.... He [Dr. John Nichols] is a very upfront doctor. He doesn't sugarcoat anything so you don't get your hopes up but he does give you all the oporions available. He will give you the percentage of whatever procedure you decide to have. Bring IVF, IUI, or donor egg.
The strengths [for Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology group] are in the nurses. The weakness is in the front. These ladies could show a little more compassion instead of just checking you out... The donor we picked the first time was a carrier of CF that was not listed on her profile that I felt should have been

Dr. Nichols explained everything in a clear and straight forward manner. He was realistic about the outcomes and did not give us false hope. Our IVF course went well and we understood each step along the way.... We did a fresh cycle IVF with progesterone in oil shots, but when i started To have a reaction we switched to crinone. Switched the trigger injection when it looked like I was going to overstimulate and that worked well. I transferred 5 day embryos (2) and 1 took.
They [the staff at Piedmont Reproductive Group] know me and my husband by name and when I would call I would get a person and not a recording to leave a message.... Every nurse we had was compassionate and really loved their job.... They are great about answering questions via email or phone call even after hours... I believe IVF was around 10-12k

[Dr. John Nichols] was upfront with all of the information I needed to know. He did not try and sugar coat anything or make things sound better than they were. He was knowledgeable and answered all of my questions and my husband’s questions. I could not imaging going anywhere else...I felt like Dr. Nichols took the time to understand our stage of infertility. He also said that every step of the was would be our decision.
One weakness [of Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group] would be the time it takes to get in. I think I end up waiting a month to be seen as a new patient. After the way I’ve been able to get doctors appointments whenever I need them. The staff is always able to get me in. The atmosphere is also very welcoming and calming...Everybody was so kind and compassionate when I was in the office or called. I never felt like I was rushed during a procedure or consult

He was very understanding and showed companion. Dr. Nichols always explained any questions and or concerns that my spouse and I had. Dr. Nichols is a amazing doctor and I would recommend anyone I know to see him for fertility help... I took fertility drugs cycle day 3-9 and did the ovadril shot day before iui.... The nurses were always very kind and all around great
The over all clinic [PREG-Spartanburg] was great but the front desk clerks could use some work. The lady at the front desk once did not let the nurse know that I was there and I waited over an hour before she even knew I was there. When the nurse finally seen me out there she was like you have never been late before and I let her know I was 10 minutes early like always I'm not sure why she didn't lethink her know I was there other than that everyone else is great

Very knowledgeable. He [Dr. John Nichols] told us facts so we never went into anything not knowing what to expect. He gave us multiple option and left it totally up to us. There was no pressure. He was always available for questions and would get back to us promptly...He took the time to go over all the information and treatment plans. He was straight forward but kind
[Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group] Front desk was always friendly. Easy to make appointments and seen quickly. We visited Asheville and Greenville offices and it was the same at both. The Greenville office has the surgical suite and all the staff talked through everything that was going on...They were also knowledgeable and very kind. They explained everything they did throughout the procedures

Dr Nichols and his staff treated my partner and I with respect and dignity throughout the IVF process. Although it didn’t end as we hoped, we would try again... is a straight shooter - very open and honest but also personable and friendly. He walked us through the risks and chances of each procedure and worked with us to develop a plan based on our needs and preferences...I only had one embryo to transfer after testing so this [Eset] wasn’t an issue for me.
Overall I felt that the clinic [Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group] was amazing. The nurses, phlebotomists, doctors and the whole crew were professional, organized and invested in their mission. He [Dr. Nichols] always made sure we understood each step of the process and explained in detail what we should expect throughout the experience. He kept our stress level down and our nerves at ease, which is a pertinent part throughout the journey.... Preg has always communicated well with reminders for appointments, do’s and dont’s with medications, and answering any questions we had throughout the process.
The whole team at Preg was great and make us feel so welcome and cared for....They were excellent and always made us feel welcome and help us understand the process.... Preg has always communicated well with reminders for appointments, do’s and dont’s with medications, and answering any questions we had throughout the process. My husband’s recommendation is to give away sweat bands for when the men’s come to give their samples!

Care was not individualized [with Dr. John Nichols], I felt as if every woman does not have the same level of care and same circumstances so their care should not be grouped together. IVF cycles were done in groups meaning if 10 women were undergoing a cycle of IVF, they all would start on a scheduled day of the month.... [Piedmont Reproductive Endo Grou- Columbia has a] Clean facility, friendly staff but at times your appointment appears to be rushed. In my opinion the office was more inviting before the merger but overall the staff was good. There are some areas of opportunity especially in the area of personalized care so you dont feel as if your time and money was not valued

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
He [Dr. John Nichols] was the first to explain my fertility problems and actually telling and showing me the reason he came to that conclusion...I wish he was a little more straight forward with information and on treatment plan(s), but he does answer all of our questions....
we purposefully made our consultation [at PREG] on my day 3 cycle day so we could also get labs done. However, after our consult, we were informed they could not complete the labs because the person who does them left early and we were instructed to wait until my next cycle to complete the labs in our home state...We also noticed the paperwork the person left unattended at the window was confidential paperwork that was being processed...Confidentiality and patient center mentality needs to be addressed.
How was your experience with John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
Dr. Nichols is my third fertility doctor I have seen over a 10 year span. He was the first to explain my fertility problems and actually telling and showing me the reason he came to that conclusion. I don't know if I couldn't wrap my brain around the fact I was infertile with the two prior doctors and I had come to accept it or it truly was just never explained to me. I wish he was a little more straight forward with information and on treatment plan(s), but he does answer all of our questions.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
Be prepared to be asked if someone else sent you said lab results or documents, etc. It's frustrating when you find out that they received results days before and thought someone else may have contacted you but didn't.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
During our consultation, the facility prioritized a staff birthday over our appointment, making us 25 minutes late to be seen. We are traveling from out of state to be seen at this facility. In addition we purposefully made our consultation on my day 3 cycle day so we could also get labs done. However, after our consult, we were informed they could not complete the labs because the person who does them left early and we were instructed to wait until my next cycle to complete the labs in our home state. Also, during this visit the person who manages the front check-in area did not consistently attend the front desk, we had to repeatedly ring their bell for assistances with questions we had as we completed insurance and other forms. We also noticed the paperwork the person left unattended at the window was confidential paperwork that was being processed. I was frustrated when I left there. We are continuing to seek treatment through this facility but are on edge doing so. We decided to continue and hopes it was a bad day because equally we don't want to believe we were wrong and invested so much time and energy into deciding on our next steps to be wrong as soon as we walked into an office. I have been more assertive with the staff there when I call and if they even seem like they are going to say the words "next cycle" I tell them, "...no they are not pushing this out..." We have had numerous email and phone exchanges with our IVF nurse and financial advisor and after the first couple exchanges we have come to a common ground and I am pleased with the results. My husband and I are scheduled to go back to the facility next week for orientation and to be honest I am feeling a little uneasy and fear disappointment with their disposition.
Describe the protocols John Nichols used in your cycles at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group and their degree of success.
We have orientation scheduled for next week. I started my period over the weekend, called Monday to report and started Birth Control the same day. I was informed I will be on birth control for two weeks, stop, and in a couple days later will begin my stim shots. It is estimated I will take shots 10-12 days before egg retrieval. Then hopefully we have embryos that made it to blast to transplant in 5 days. When I asked about the rationale for the birth control I was told it's like a holding place and give us two weeks to get everything in order like payment and meds ordered. I still wonder why we couldn't have started that last cycle, especially when I was informed you can stay on birth control for up to 40 days.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group. (Assigned nurse: Mikayla Carver)
It was a rough start. At first we heard over and over if so and so contacted us with the results of x. We would contact them and they would ask the same question. Now I feel my husband and I have established a good communication exchange with our nurse and it is going much better.
Describe your experience with Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group.
The physical clinic and equipment seems standard from what I have experienced with other clinics that offer these type of services. With that being said, my husband and I have only been there once. As far as services it is taking a bit to get things moving in the right directions. It seems like the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing and it created some uneasiness with us. Confidentiality and patient center mentality needs to be addressed.
Describe the costs associated with your care under John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group.
We qualified for some tier with a shared risk company. We are paying $25,000 for three IVFs (without genetic testing) within 12 months contract. If no live birth occurs after three IVFs or after 12 months, maybe 18 months if the doctor is generous (per the financial advisor) then we are expected a small refund. I believe it's $6000. We are requesting the contract have verbiage for COVID-19 risks. That is when we were told how generous the doctors are and to expect the contract to be 18 months... The financial advisor was going to speak with Dr. Nichols regarding our request but we have not heard back.
What specific things went wrong at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
  • Lost paperwork
  • Failed to call with results
  • Lost results
  • Provided conflicting information
  • Canceled a cycle due to clinic error
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group.
We had our medical history recorders sent to Preg. The clinic said they sent them and Preg kept stating they didn't. Come to find out they had received them. That required several phone call and my husband making a physical visit to the clinic who was supposedly not sending the docs to make sure it would get done. My husband was given a semen analysis to have completed and the results sent to Preg and of course that required more phone calls and the same occurred for my blood work. The part that got me was when we did get the results and Preg reported on my husbands semen results but then on another call later they stated they still hadn't received it. We had to inform them they had because someone told us the results from Preg! As I reported in prior comments, we were delayed right off the bat, pushing out to the next cycle due to a staff member leaving early that day when we specifically selected that date to make our physical appointment in order to complete labs. Remember we are also from out of town and traveling to this clinic for treatment. We are also still unsure as to why we did not start birth control last cycle since they push us out already once and being birth control was a holding place which we can "hold" up to 40 days... Luckily I have short cycles (third cycle since the beginning of March), otherwise this could have been a 6-7 month ordeal, especially if we left it up to Preg to track down documents or results.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Nichols is always straight to the point and pretty blunt. He says it how it is, which is good to get all the information and stats up front...strongly suggested skipping the IUI step and going straight to IVF but completely left it up to us to make that decision...We were diagnosed with unexplained infertility so for us we started with the Femara and ovidrel (trigger shot) with timed intercourse and did that for 4-5 cycles...
The [PREG] office does have everything right there to do all of the testing, exams, and blood work which makes it very convenient and they are always quick to fill us in when we need an appointment...we thought we would have more one on one and support through each step since we are trying for our first baby and all new to this...
How was your experience with John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
Dr. Nichols is always straight to the point and pretty blunt. He says it how it is, which is good to get all the information and stats up front. I did imagine a situation where the Dr. would be a little more compassionate and encouraging, not that Dr. Nichols is discouraging by any means.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
Be ready to get your information and chances of pregnancy upfront and very bluntly. He is always respectful, and I always trust what tells us. He is very knowledgeable. The journey of infertility is emotional and frustrating and I’m more on the sensitive side so someone who can be told anything bluntly probably won’t even notice the way he communicates to his patients.
Describe the protocols John Nichols used in your cycles at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group and their degree of success.
We were diagnosed with unexplained infertility so for us we started with the Femara and ovidrel (trigger shot) with timed intercourse and did that for 4-5 cycles. We increased the dosage of the Femara each month and now instead of the timed intercourse we have done 2cycles of IUI. Dr. Nichols strongly suggested skipping the IUI step and going straight to IVF but completely left it up to us to make that decision. We decided for financial reasons to try the IUI. IVF is so, so expensive and our insurance does not cover it all. We are hopeful for success with IUI.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group.
I’m not sure if it’s standard at all offices but the only way to get a hold of the nurses is to leave a voicemail on their secure line. I trust everything is kept confidential and never worry about that, it is just frustrating to not be able to just talk to someone and have to listen to the longest “answer machine” message on their line. Again this may be standard but it’s certainly not what I expected. I guess I expected to have more one on one with either a doctor or nurse or someone at their office. It is also very hard for me to answer my phone at work and even get away for a phone call so the long wait to leave a message and constant phone tag definitely isn’t convenient. I usually see one nurse consistently who does my ultrasound check ups, unfortunately can’t remember her name, but she is very sweet and helpful and much nicer than the other nurses. Unfortunately though I think the voicemail line goes to the nurses at the Asheville location (I could be wrong) so I feel like there are many nurses involved in my care that I haven’t ever met.
Describe your experience with Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group.
I obviously had no idea what to expect and this was all new to us but we definitely expected more compassion. We’ve gotten used to their front desk staff so it no longer bothers us but it’s not the most welcoming walking into that office. I’m sure they are busy but it’s hard to all of a sudden be that vulnerable and open about our personal infertility journey. Also we thought we would have more one on one and support through each step since we are trying for our first baby and all new to this. The office does have everything right there to do all of the testing, exams, and blood work which makes it very convenient and they are always quick to fill us in when we need an appointment. They definitely have the knowledge and even though we haven’t gotten pregnant yet, I’m confident they are doing everything they can to make that happen for us.
Describe the costs associated with your care under John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group.
We did self pay for the first four months of our services with “treatment” since our insurance didn’t cover. I’m thankful for the self pay discount but wish we were told sooner that’s what was happening. We spent quite a bit of money out of pocket until our insurance changed at the beginning of the year and it fortunately covers more. I think the self pay amount for our ultrasounds were $190 each month. Ovidrel (trigger shot) is around 80-100 dollars each month. The Femara cost about 10 dollars or less each month. These costs are based on our insurance and pharmacy coverages and may be much less, or more, for others. We were told the IUI would be around $500 self pay and fortunately our new insurance covers most of it and I think we are paying around 200/month for IUI, which includes the procedure and our Femara and Ovidrel. Also, we are very thankful they gave us the information to Mandells pharmacy which allows us to get our Ovidrel for much less than through our retail pharmacy. Definitely worth looking into!

he [Dr.Nichols] made sure to explain everything in terms my husband and I would understand. He also let us know how we proceed is completely up to us...He recommended taking a pill to help with ovulation, I believe it is called letrozole, while also doing a trigger shot... I did the scan it turned out I get false positives and I actually didn’t ovulate... The third round they decided to up my dosage of the letrozole to three pills instead of two.
They [PREG nurses] are very knowledgeable about your medical charts and personal history...[rough cost] With my insurance, the scans were about $85. The actual IUI was about $150. Bloodwork varies depending on what was being tested, around $50-$80...With a woman of my age, they only recommend doing a single embryo transfer.
How was your experience with John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
I love Dr. Nichols! My first consultation with him, he made sure to explain everything in terms my husband and I would understand. He also let us know how we proceed is completely up to us, which was nice compared to my previous doctor. My first cycle with him was unsuccessful. There was a lot of getting to know my body and how it responds. At that time we didn’t know I get false positives on ovulations tests. I was told to give myself the trigger shot and come in the next day. When we did my follicle scan it turned out I did not actually ovulate like the text told me. I was very emotional because it was the first time in about a year that I finally thought I ovulated. He came in and talked with my mother and I and said the office was not going to charge me for the scan because it was one of those situations that wasn’t fair to me. My mother and I were so gracious the compassion he showed that day. I left the office still upset but hopeful for the future. The next month we got a positive that I ovulated and went on with the IUI. The staff Dr. Nichols hires is excellent! The nurses have always been there to celebrate each successful ovulation! Unfortunately, the IUI did not work that time. The third cycle had to be canceled because I had 6 follicles. The nurse and Dr. Nichols were so compassionate when telling me they had to stop the cycle. The nurse came up and hugged me and let me cry on her shoulder. Dr. Nichols was there to explain why exactly we are stopping the cycle and the risks and positives with this cycle. The next cycle I ovulated and we did an IUI. Unfortunately, it was unsuccessful. At this point I sat down with my husband and mom to discuss moving forward with IVF. Dr. Nichols sat down with me and said that we can continue doing IUI’s but he believes It would be time to start talking about IVF. That’s exactly what we did and my husband and I left very hopeful about our future of having a family.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
You have to have patience and just trust in the process no matter how hard and stressful that may be.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
Dr. Nichols was my second doctor I went to concerning my fertility. The difference between him and his staff compared to my previous doctor is remarkable. Him and his staff really take the time to get to know their patients personally. They have the best bedside manner I have ever seen. They have really made me feel comfortable every time I go. When I enter the office, they know my name before I even walk up to the window. The nurses and doctor are always up-to-date on my health history and personal information as well. The staff is there to celebrate the good news with you by cheering and smiling. However, they are also there to lend you their shoulder to cry on when a cycle is unsuccessful or has to be canceled. My husband, mother, and myself can not recommend them enough to anyone struggling with fertility. With fertility treatments already being a stressful time in a persons life, they know how to try and eliminate that stress to the best of their ability. I am so happy I chose PREG and Dr. Nichols for my fertility journey!
Describe the protocols John Nichols used in your cycles at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group and their degree of success.
I went to another doctor before going to Dr. Nichols. She had me on metformin, clomid, and progesterone. I did this for several cycles. When I started with Dr. Nichols he recommended me going into IUI’s since I already did so many cycles with me since and timed intercourse. He decreased my metformin to two pills every night instead of three and took me off progesterone. He recommended taking a pill to help with ovulation, I believe it is called letrozole, while also doing a trigger shot. My first round I took an at home ovulation test and got a positive on the weekend. I called and they said to give myself the trigger shot and then to come in the next day to do the scan and IUI. When I did the scan it turned out I get false positives and I actually didn’t ovulate. I was very upset because so went in thinking we were going to do the IUI that day. Dr. Nichols was very compassionate and did not charge me for the scan because it was not fair to me and with it being my first cycle there, they were unsure about how my body responds to the medicine. The second round was successful in regards to me ovulating. I had two follicles, however one was 15mm and the other was around 24mm. They explained that with those sizes it was very unsure if it would be successful. After talking, we both decided to try the IUI. We did the IUI the next day. Unfortunately it was unsuccessful. The third round they decided to up my dosage of the letrozole to three pills instead of two. This was to try and get a good size follicle. When doing that, we got a lot of good size follicles, unfortunately way too many. I had six. Dr. Nichols canceled the cycle for my health risks and the babies I could have conceived if we went forward. The next cycle we decreased the amount of the pills back to two. It worked and I had two perfect size follicles. We did the IUI the next day but it was unsuccessful. Now we are on to IVF.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group. (Assigned nurse: Kristina Housworth)
They are AMAZING!!! They are very knowledgeable about your medical charts and personal history. They show so much compassion to you during the process. They cheer with you for good news and let you cry on their shoulder when it’s unsuccessful news. I wish all my doctors offices and dentist offices has nurses like there are at PREG. I never dread going because I know no matter the results, they will help me understand and get through whatever they are. They explain every aspect so I can understand what is being said. My husband, mom and I love the nurses at PREG!
Describe your experience with Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group.
The clinic is very good about answering my phone calls and returning them in a timely manner. They are always very organized and always on time. I never have to wait more than five minutes. Everyone is very friendly at the office from the receptionists all the way to the doctors.
Describe the costs associated with your care under John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group.
I don’t know specific costs, but I have give an estimation. With my insurance, the scans were about $85. The actual IUI was about $150. Bloodwork varies depending on what was being tested. I can’t remember exactly how much that was but around $50-$80. Consults with the doctor were $100-$150.
Describe John Nichols's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group.
I have not done the IVF process yet. However, from what he explained and the paperwork he gave me. With a woman of my age, they only recommend doing a single embryo transfer.

[Dr. John Nichols] He understood the struggles we've gone through to get here and the struggles we will face with our surrogate journey to get our baby here...I have one ovary with a diminished reserve, however, and he gave me a list of over counter medicines to help my ovary produce more. And it worked far better than I ever dreamed! When we did a new ultrasound my egg count had tripled
[staff of PREG] They are very informative and I love that they keep you updated, or just send words of encouragement, through email often. Everyone we have seen is knowledgeable and friendly, which makes you feel more at ease...Any questions that I have had have beeb answered quickly whether by phone or email. I am giving the benefit of the doubt regarding the coordinator and the slow responses with unanswered questions.
How was your experience with John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
Our prior fertility clinic was very misleading, insensitive, and didn't have our best interests at heart. Just one conversation with Dr. Nichols and our fears started to fade. He answered every question and then some, explaining everything so well. Our prior doctor gave no information about my diminished ovarian reserve, but the information and list of medications from Dr. Nichols now has my ovary producing more eggs than have ever shown on ultrasound in my life!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
Listen to the recommendations and advice he gives! He has the experience and knowledge that you expect, and he wants your treatment to be a success!

How was your experience with John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
I have enjoyed being a pt at PREG because the entire staff including Dr.Nickols are extremely nice. I do feel like we should be further along in the process since we have seen him for almost a year. However, I feel confident they are helping us in every way possible.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
Be patient because it’s not an over night process. Also it is very very expensive!

We did an ultrasound of my uterus and ovaries. We found a mass on my ovary that caused a blockage. I also had a very limited number of eggs on that same ovary. He decided that he needed to remove the mass and make sure it wasn’t anything serious. I under went a procedure to remove it. Thankfully it was benign. My husband and both have done multiple blood draws for lab work. His testosterone was low so they started him on clomid. They have also done two semen analysis. [Dr. John Nichols] was definitely more concerned of me as a percentage when it came to fertility issues, however, I did not take offense to it. I told him at the beginning that my husband and I wanted a baby, not a hand to hold...I was have very slow ovulation cycles and I have very low hormones. So I was given pills to help produce bigger follicles and trigger shots to help ovulate with timed inter course
[nurses of PREG] They are helpful, encouraging, detail oriented when it comes to plans and procedures, they talk about everything that’s going on during the procedures and are available all the time...The first day we went in we were greeted with the insurance coordinator who showed us how to get our insurance, let us know we had insurance and followed up with us the entire week
How was your experience with John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
I havnt gone the full route with IVF I feel that after that I can really gauge how my husband and I feel about him. He may not be the warmest person so he might not work for certain people. But he is very smart and has been doing this a very long time with great results. So I will always recommend him and the clinic, but also mention as such
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
To not feel discouraged or offended if he says negative things. Again he’s great at his job and wants to educate you the best way possible.

I was have very slow ovulation cycles and I have very low hormones. So I was given pills to help produce bigger follicles and trigger shots to help ovulate with timed inter course. Everything “worked” like it should have and hormones, follicle, ovulation all worked and improved, but still no pregnancy occurred. The Dr believes it may have something to do with egg quality, which can only be looked at through ivf

I think everything about the clinic was fantastic. They are all extremely helpful and ahead of everything. The first day we went in we were greeted with the insurance coordinator who showed us how to get our insurance, let us know we had insurance and followed up with us the entire week. It’s a smaller office so you see the same staff which is encouraging and they all know who you are and work together to help in any way.

[Dr. Nichols] was great about going through the process and answering questions...did a short workup, looking at the state of my uterus and taking a blood sample...he had us visit another doctor in the office to address the options based on my fiance having had a vasectomy...Because everything appears good on my end, Dr. Nichols was waiting to see the results of my fiance's appointment with the male infertility doctor in the office.
The office [PREG] itself is tucked away and a little hard to find, but once you make it into the office, it's self explanatory...there wasn't a long wait, the paperwork didn't take too long, the staff was friendly, our questions were answered, and we felt they honored our privacy...There was an office outpatient visit for a new patient (45 min) at $225...The nurse we worked with, Meagan, went about her job professionally, but still felt friendly.
How was your experience with John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
It's obvious that Dr. Nichols has had experience in this field. He explained what the process would probably look like for my fiance and myself. We then did a short workup, looking at the state of my uterus and taking a blood sample, and because everything looked good, he had us visit another doctor in the office to address the options based on my fiance having had a vasectomy 8 years ago. He was professional enough that I never felt uncomfortable or concerned, and plan to keep working with him as we move forward.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with John Nichols at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
Dr. Nichols was great about going through the process and answering questions, but it kind of felt like something he's done many times before. So, while he was very knowledgeable and polite, it felt routine and less personal.
Describe the protocols John Nichols used in your cycles at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group and their degree of success.
My fiance and I are just making it past the consult stage, so beyond my initials tests, we haven't worked on any treatments yet. Because everything appears good on my end, Dr. Nichols was waiting to see the results of my fiance's appointment with the male infertility doctor in the office. Our treatment strategy is currently waiting on what was discussed with the other doctor.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group.
The nurse we worked with, Meagan, went about her job professionally, but still felt friendly. She talked to us about herself and asked us questions outside of the visit, so our experience with her didn't feel overly clinical.

Dr. Nichols is very compassionate about infertility and understands the struggles that some of us have had to endure. He has listened to our concerns and has provided feedback that we could understand. ... My body is very sensitive but takes time to respond. He was very cautious withe the dose and closely monitored me, which I am extremely grateful for.
They [Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group] sent our very last embryo out before it should have gone to reprotech and the embryo got destroyed. They have since worked with reprotech to compensate but we are not completely satisfied, We have had to pay a lot out of pcoket and our dreams have been crushed. This grant will help us get a brother or sister for our only son

Tell him everything- be honest and if you have questions ASK! There were times I was hesitant on mentioning things that had occurred in my body and I am SO thankful I have. Our journey has taken us over a decade of struggles and heartaches and Dr. Nichols has been the light at the end of the tunnel.
