Dr. G [Gianfortoni] was incredibly thorough. He ran all of the labs, and testing first. He was also blunt. Sometimes, it could hurt my feelings. He told me he would give us a $200 credit if I lost 40lbs. To be fair, I was and am still overweight.... Dr. G, which is what he liked to be called, knew me and my husband by name. He personally called me one day to ask if I could switch my appointment because another client needed to have their eggs removed NOW. HE called me!
Dr. G owned this Clinic [LifeSource Fertility Center]. 100% recommend this practice. Everyone at the clinic was helpful, knowledgeable and loved doing what they did. I never felt like a number. I felt like a human being. These folks weren't in it for the money, they were in it for making babies. The first time i called to tell them I started my period, June cried with me on the phone.... The nurses were amazing! They held your hand when you cried. They were the compassion that Dr. G needed to balance out his team!! They were awesome.
How was your experience with Joseph Gianfortoni at LifeSource Fertility Center?
Dr. G was incredibly thorough. He ran all of the labs, and testing first. He was also blunt. Sometimes, it could hurt my feelings. He told me he would give us a $200 credit if I lost 40lbs. To be fair, I was and am still overweight. It just stings a little when someone reminds you of that. He wasn't mean in his way of saying this to me, he was very matter of fact about it. It wasn't personal to him, he was just telling me that he'd give us a credit if I lost weight. He was incredibly good at his job. He could preform an HSG X-Ray and it not even hurt. I was so nervous and scared, everyone's heard horror stories of how awful these are. I didn't feel a thing! He met with me for every single appointment. He told me what to expect, what not to expect. We had clear goals, and set clear boundaries of how far we could go in our fertility treatment. He didn't try to push IVF or IUI. We made decisions together.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Joseph Gianfortoni at LifeSource Fertility Center?
Do not take what he says personally, in a negative manner. He is a very blunt man. He isn't going to beat around the bush. He will tell you if your eggs are crap, you are overweight, etc. He is telling you this because these things affect having babies, not to be mean to you. He isn't trying to hurt your feelings. He is telling you what is standing between you and your baby.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Joseph Gianfortoni at LifeSource Fertility Center?
Dr. G, which is what he liked to be called, knew me and my husband by name. He personally called me one day to ask if I could switch my appointment because another client needed to have their eggs removed NOW. HE called me! When doing my FSG x-ray he brought me samples of medication so that I didn't have to purchase it.
Describe the protocols Joseph Gianfortoni used in your cycles at LifeSource Fertility Center and their degree of success.
First treatment - Ferema with trigger shot, plus Metformin & Prenatal vitamins-- upped Femera dosing during treatment, wasn't working 2nd treatment - Ferema with 1x trigger shots, spread out over 2 weeks, plus Metformin & Prenatal vitamins, and a uterine lining meds 3rd treatment - Ferema with 2x trigger shots, spread out over 2 weeks, plus Metformin & Prenatal vitamins. Uterine lining was perfect, no need for those. Femera worked and I made one egg on all 3x cycles. 1st cycle we missed the egg. 2nd cycle, my lining wasn't responding well. 3rd cycle was perfect, Baby J was born 9 months later

As my treatment progressed from treating my pain and endometriosis to IUI to ICSI IVF, I got to know him [Dr. Gianfortoni] better and see how caring he was. He understood my personal background and story and tailored my treatment accordingly as opposed to a "one-size fits all" approach. He truly cares for his patients. He took the time to explain everything to me in detail. He even came in on the weekends for my appointments when he was not the "on call" doctor for that particular weekend.
Everyone that I interacted with at this clinic [Lifesource Fertility Center] was knowledgable and helped to make a difficult process as easy as possible. It was a small clinic that helped to make keep the experience personal and tailored. I didnt feel like I would get lost in the shuffle or that I was just another number to them. I was excited to have my miracle baby a few days prior to Dr. G's retirement so that I could bring him to meet the team that made him possible!
How was your experience with Joseph Gianfortoni at LifeSource Fertility Center?
Dr. G has a very clinical and blunt nature when you first meet him. He tells it like it is, even if that is not what you want to hear. As I got to know him better through my treatment, it became evident how caring and invested he was in his patients and the miracles he was attempting to perform for them. He would make sure to personally call back to answer my questions, even if it was when he finished up working for the night at 9 or 10PM. When my treatment called for weekend visits, he made exceptions to come in for them even when it was his weekend off.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Joseph Gianfortoni at LifeSource Fertility Center?
Unfortunately Dr. G has retired since my treatment with him. However, if anyone does happen to have the opportunity to consult with him, I would let them know to not write him off immediately due to his up front matter of fact attitude. He tells it like it is up front, but he is compassionate, works with you, and definitely knows what he is doing.

Describe the protocols Joseph Gianfortoni used in your cycles at LifeSource Fertility Center and their degree of success.
Due to my history of endometriosis and scar tissue, Dr. G was able to do IUI once, and then fast track us to IVF. He considered my history and my insurance coverage to come up with the treatment plan that he thought would be most effective and if possible limit cost (while not affecting potentially outcome). We decided to go with ICSI IVF.

[Dr. Gianfortoni] is a straight shooter and honest. He has the patients best interest at heart and was genuinely as upset at each failed cycle as we were. Yet his [honesty] gave us what we needed to make the hard decisions rather than waste our money. He also worked directly with the clinic on our behalf.
Dr and staff [at LifeSource Fertility Center] were very individualized in their treatment. Upfront and honest candor and always made us feel welcome and cared for even at difficult times. [The nursing staff] treated each patient like an individual. Very compassionate. Efficient with their time and the doctor.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Joseph Gianfortoni at LifeSource Fertility Center?
He has a dry sense of humor. If you don't like honestly and someone who is upfront about your chances, risk factors, or overall health see someone else.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Joseph Gianfortoni at LifeSource Fertility Center?
Dr and staff were very individualized in their treatment. Upfront and honest candor and always made us feel welcome and cared for even at difficult times. Never over optimistic but willing to accept a challenge and work with us. Dr really looked at our history and health to explain our options but left the final decisions up to us.

Steroid added to cycle for transfers to reduce inflammation and aid implantation. We had issues with transfers so we did several mock ones and used Valium.
