We felt supported by [Dr. Joshua Stewart]...provided an extremely thorough and articulate assessment and diagnostic plan for us...male factor infertility...medication course he prescribed yielded excellent results for the egg retrieval...he had recommended a fresh transfer for the first transfer.
We had an amazing experience at Weill Cornell's fertility clinic. This applies to the Brooklyn location for consultations and monitoring (bloodwork/ultrasounds), and the primary upper east side location for monitoring and procedures (IUI and IVF)...cannot say enough good things about Dr. Stewarts nursing team - Annie and Molly Spilka
How was your experience with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
My partner and I could not have imagined a better doctor than Joshua Stewart for our fertility treatments. We felt supported by him and his staff from the very first consultation where he provided an extremely thorough and articulate assessment and diagnostic plan for us. Over the next year, we found that he and his staff provided the smoothest experience we could imagine during our 5+ IUIs and one round of IVF.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
No particular piece of advice comes to mind besides that I would recommend Dr. Joshua Stewart to anyone who is thinking of beginning a fertility journey.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Stewart had a kind and informative approach during our initial consultations and consequent visits. He listens to all concerns and provides thorough and articulate responses.
Describe the protocols Joshua Stewart used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
Diagnostic tests for my partner and I quickly revealed that my partner has male factor infertility. Dr. Stewart recommended a urologist who diagnosed my partner with a varicocele. With this information, Dr. Stewart recommended several more courses of non-medicated IUIs given that the infertility was moderate and my age was <35. While these IUIs did not result in a positive pregnancy test, we agreed that they were the best approach for us given his assessment and do not regret them at all. Dr. Stewart then recommended IVF with 5-day embryo transfer. The medication course he prescribed yielded excellent results for the egg retrieval. We ended up testing all embryos genetically, even though he had recommended a fresh transfer for the first transfer. We felt comfortable making our own decision here since we felt informed/supported by Dr. Stewart and his staff.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Weill Cornell Medical College. (Assigned nurse: Annie and Molly )
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Stewarts nursing team - Annie and Molly Spilka. I am so thankful for them. They are incredibly organized and the best communicators among the health providers I have worked with. I really felt like I was in good hands with them, and that I could call or ask to any question, no matter how silly it seemed. I would recommend working with this team to absolutely everyone.
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
We had an amazing experience at Weill Cornell's fertility clinic. This applies to the Brooklyn location for consultations and monitoring (bloodwork/ultrasounds), and the primary upper east side location for monitoring and procedures (IUI and IVF). The primary location is very busy, so of course there is naturally more wait time - but in general, this is a very well run clinic with excellent physicians, staff and facilities.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College.
All our monitoring and treatments were covered by copays through insurance - with the exception of the genetic testing associated with IVF, which is almost never covered by insurance based on my understanding. The testing cost ~5k
Dr Stewart's office was a breath of fresh air...was sympathetic to our experiences... hysteroscopy...very successful retrieval cycle and ended up with 6 healthy embryos...2 transfers naturally (no meds), and both failed...decided to do a medicated transfer.now 23 weeks pregnant...was always warm and clearly rooting for their patients.
[At Weill Cornell Medical College] Monitoring and appointments at both clinics were always prompt and efficient. Uptown, the team was always friendly and warm, despite the volume, which I came to see as a positive — they're incredibly experienced, and they have a lot of doctors helping a lot of women and couples
How was your experience with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
After 2 miscarriages, I got in touch with WCM in June 2022. I got pregnant spontaneously in September and ended up having a miscarriage that very poorly handed miscarriage in the fall (I was told there was no heartbeat, cried and left, then was called and told that actually maybe it's just a bit early, can you come back next week? I think you'll still miscarry but I don't want you to take the pills unless we know for sure...it was drawn out for 3 weeks.)
After that 3rd miscarriage, I was ready for a change, and Dr Stewart's office was a breath of fresh air. He met me and my husband in January and was sympathetic to our experiences thus far, describing himself as a perfectionist and positive but also a realist, which permeated out entire experience with him and his practice. He was action-oriented throughout. I ended up having to have a hysteroscopy due to lingering tissue from the recent miscarriage, and he understood how frustrating the setback was but handled it efficiently, performed it himself, and got us on our way.
We had a very successful retrieval cycle and ended up with 6 healthy embryos, which was a huge relief and very exciting. We did 2 transfers naturally (no meds), and both failed, which was stressful and a bit demoralizing. When the first failed, Dr Stewart to called to explain that the first transfer is a bit of a 50/50, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, so let's try again with the same approach.
When the second one failed, we decided to do a medicated transfer. Because it was a scheduled cycle, Dr Stewart actually performed the transfer himself (the previous ones had been done by the doctor who happened to be in the OR that day), and that one worked — I'm now 23 weeks pregnant. I imagine had we had fewer embryos, he would have been more aggressive about medications sooner, but I'm content with the approach, as I'd somewhat easily gotten pregnant 3x before, and with tested embryos we felt like it should work, and he was trying to spare me from all the drugs and progesterone shots, if I didn't need them.
All in all, I'm delighted with Dr Stewart and his whole team, and I'm SO glad I made the switch when I did. I can't recommend him enough and felt supported and confident throughout the whole process, even with the failed transfers.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Good luck, you're in the best hands!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr Stewart's office in Brooklyn is mellow, airy, personal and lovely — not the factory feel as some clinics, even the uptown WMC (many more docs there, so it makes sense, just a different vibe!). In Brooklyn, I saw the same nursing team and got calls from the same people throughout my treatment, and everyone including Dr Stewart was always warm and clearly rooting for their patients.
Describe the protocols Joshua Stewart used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
I did a classic stim cycle for my egg retrieval — Follistim, Letro pill, Menopur, Cetrotide and a trigger.
For the natural FET, I did nothing but Ovidrel. Having gotten pregnant before, we figured the issue was with the egg quality, and with tested embryos, it felt like natural could work.
After 2 failed natural transfers, we moved to frozen FET, for which I took birth control pills, then Lupron injections, then estrogen patches, then intramuscular progesterone, which continued until I was 10 weeks pregnant.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Weill Cornell Medical College. (Assigned nurse: Molly Spilka)
Honestly, they were all warm and supportive and informed and great — Molly, Annie, Makeyla & Liz on the nursing team, as well as Steffan on the admin side.
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr Stewart's BK office is a lovely, quiet satellite of the WCM complex at 1305 York on the UES. I visited the BK office on weekdays and occasionally had to go to 1305 York for weekend bloodwork/monitoring. The BK office would have 0-2 other patients there, while 1305 York, naturally, has much higher foot traffic and a bit more of an assembly line feel (which I've heard is common amongst all the fertility clinics). Monitoring and appointments at both clinics were always prompt and efficient.
Uptown, the team was always friendly and warm, despite the volume, which I came to see as a positive — they're incredibly experienced, and they have a lot of doctors helping a lot of women and couples!
For new patients, I would just recommend that you vibe well with your doctor. I loved our first RE initially — she was direct and clear about the IVF process, but wasn't so clear and confident when it came to managing the spontaneous pregnancy and miscarriage, and she didn't seem to appreciate the emotions that are wrapped up in that experience, which made me not want to experience IVF under her care.
From the start, Dr. Stewart was warm and had great bedside manner, so even when we had the failed transfers, I felt comfortable and knew we had a good game plan. Simply put, I had full trust in his care. (I should add that the other doctors I met throughout the process for monitoring, retrieval and transfers were all very friendly and warm.)
Describe the costs associated with your care under Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Part of why we pursued IVF was because we fortunately had great insurance coverage for it. We paid copays for visits, meds and all procedures (which were more than your classic $25 copay). The only thing not covered that we had to pay for fully out-of-pocket was genetic testing, which was ~$4k. There were also a few times when I needed to refill medication sooner than insurance would cover it again, so we paid OOP for that.
Describe Joshua Stewart's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
I had had a LEEP procedure when I was 20, so from the start, Dr Stewart was always a proponent of a single embryo transfer for me.
Dr. Stewart had the best bedside manner...Empathetic, patient, and kind...extremely knowledgeable...recommendation, we transferred one fresh day 5 embryo...he felt the likelihood would be high that it was genetically normal at my age...all prenatal genetic testing has come back normal
Weill Cornell is a huge research institution...monitoring and procedures taking place 7 days a week...downside is that your own doctor does not perform all of your procedures (like retrievals and transfers)...entire team at...office is incredible
How was your experience with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Stewart was the best doctor I've ever had, making my fertility treatment the best medical experience I've ever had (which is crazy, given how intensive and stressful fertility treatment can be). He is extremely knowledgeable and, most importantly, always shared every aspect of his thinking with us. Fertility treatment is an art and a science and he always brought us up to speed with the latest research, as well as providing his opinion and perspective on what he felt was the best course of action for us. He also took into account our preferences and mental health in devising our plan. On top of that, he has incredible bedside manner. I saw him almost every time I went for monitoring during my cycles and he was always kind, patient, and brought a great sense of humor to the daily slog of treatment. He was also very competent in testing procedures such as saline sonos, HSGs—invasive tests that I was nervous about, but were all quick and virtually painless under his care. We felt able to put all our trust in him.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Feel confident putting your trust in Dr. Stewart. My husband and I are big over-researchers and so much of the struggle of infertility for us has been doubting the course of action, doing our own research, being overwhelmed by information. Once we were in Dr. Stewart's care and realized how incredible he and his clinic are, we made an active effort to put our trust in our medical team. This lessened the mental load on us, gave us the confidence to full heartedly pursue treatment, and we knew we weren't alone on our journey anymore.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Stewart had the best bedside manner of any medical professional I've ever encountered. Empathetic, patient, and kind, he always treated both my husband and I like true partners on the fertility journey. He explained all of his thinking, every aspect of our treatment plans, and also acknowledged the extreme mental and emotional load of going through fertility treatment. Not to mention, he and his staff were exceptionally great at the "customer service" side of things. I rarely had any wait time when I went to the Brooklyn location, everyone knew me by name, and he always had every aspect of my history clear in his mind when he saw me.
Describe the protocols Joshua Stewart used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
We first started with four monitored medicated cycles (letrozole) with timed intercourse at home. These were not successful, but we were not quite ready to move to IVF yet at that point.
Afterward, we began IVF. I had minimal side effects from stims (I believe I was on a lower dose of meds) and generally felt good the two weeks before retrieval. We did one retrieval, which went well. On Dr. Stewart's recommendation, we transferred one fresh day 5 embryo (the best graded one), while freezing and PGT testing the other embryos. We were a little nervous about a fresh transfer, which he recommended we try because he felt the likelihood would be high that it was genetically normal at my age. We are so happy we followed his recommendation because that transfer has worked so far and all prenatal genetic testing has come back normal, as he suspected!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Weill Cornell Medical College. (Assigned nurse: Molly)
The entire team at Dr. Stewart's office is incredible. Makela oversaw everything in-clinic, from blood draws to setting up ultrasounds, and was kind, funny, and extremely efficient. She made sometimes near-daily monitoring a total breeze and even a pleasure. Molly was my primary nurse who called me with instructions and results and I cannot say enough about the empathy and care she showed. I felt she truly cared about each of her patients and was rooting for us at every turn. When she finally called with good news to share, it felt like she was as happy as we were! She also answered my many questions, none too small, and was both patient and extremely knowledgeable. Prescriptions were always sent out immediately and I never had any medication snafus, despite how complex everything was.
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
Weill Cornell is a huge research institution, but each doctor at the Center for Reproductive Medicine runs their own office like a little mini clinic. We liked that it gave us the best of both worlds: a more bespoke and patient-centric experience day-to-day in Brooklyn, but the resources, research, and lab of a prominent institution. Being part of the larger system also meant many benefits of scale, like monitoring and procedures taking place 7 days a week. The downside is that your own doctor does not perform all of your procedures (like retrievals and transfers), though I found the doctors who did do my procedures to be very competent as well. Also, weekend monitoring takes place at the main UES location, which gets very crowded, has long wait times, and is generally less pleasant than the Brooklyn office. Procedures happen at the main hospital campus on the UES.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College.
This would depend on insurance coverage. We were lucky to have insurance coverage for most of our care, except a few procedures (PGT testing, for instance).
Describe Joshua Stewart's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
He recommended we only transfer one embryo at our age.
Dr. Stewart was so incredibly warm and sensitive while I was visibly nervous and emotional during our first visit, while also being very honest about what could be potential challenges. He was, however, also very encouraging and made what is a very overwhelming process seem achievable. He was firmly in our corner from day 1...While I was thrilled to successfully become pregnant, I was truly sad that I had to move on from him as my regular doctor! He's just a lovely person.
Dr. Stewart's office [Weill Cornell Medical College] in Brooklyn is quiet, super modern and clean, and the office staff is so warm and personable. They are very organized and set a very friendly, professional but personal tone...I constantly tell my husband how much I feel spoiled by Dr. Stewart's team as they set the bar so high with their quality of care
How was your experience with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
I saw Dr. Stewart for most of my monitoring appointments on weekdays at the Brooklyn office. I really appreciated the continuity of seeing him with regularity for these appointments, as we were able to establish a personal rapport. I was always met with warmth, compassion and humor. I never felt rushed during any appointments, even when I came with a list of questions - no question was too small or silly, and he always took the time to explain everything in a clear and complete manner. He (and his team) came to know that my husband and I wanted ALL details and data on everything, and was happy to go through all of our results in details as was possible. He really makes you feel like you're on all on a team working together to reach the same goal. While I was thrilled to successfully become pregnant, I was truly sad that I had to move on from him as my regular doctor! He's just a lovely person.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Don't be afraid to ask any and all questions and bring up any concerns or worries, no matter how big or small. While you will see him regularly in the Brooklyn office, any other monitoring appointments on weekends or holidays are in Manhattan and almost always with other docs, so I really tried to take advantage of the time I had with Dr. Stewart during those visits. He will always take the time to listen and answer any questions.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
When starting our path to IVF, Dr. Stewart was the first and only doctor I met with. I was incredibly nervous after experiencing two miscarriages and was quickly approaching 40 years old. Firstly, Dr. Stewart was so incredibly warm and sensitive while I was visibly nervous and emotional during our first visit, while also being very honest about what could be potential challenges. He was, however, also very encouraging and made what is a very overwhelming process seem achievable. He was firmly in our corner from day 1.
Describe the protocols Joshua Stewart used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
My first cycle we did the standard antagonist protocol, and although we added ganirelex 5 or so days in, I still almost ovulated and we had to do my retrieval a day or two earlier than we hoped. We still retrieved 12 eggs, but only 6 were mature and I ended up with only 1 blast which was abnormal. He then switched me to a microdose lupron protocol for my next 2 cycles, which were both hugely more successful - 2nd retrieval 19 eggs, 6 blasts and 2 normal, and 3rd retrieval 25 eggs, 7 blasts and 1 normal. He definitely found the protocol that worked best for me!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Weill Cornell Medical College. (Assigned nurse: Molly )
I worked with both Molly and Annie as my primary nurse practitioners. I cannot sing their praises more. Molly is an angel straight from heaven - she was a cheerleader, a wealth of knowledge, and on a couple of occasions an empathetic ear during a very challenging/emotional/hormonal time. Annie as well - just so warm, knowledgeable and responsive. It was such a comfort to know they were only a phone call or email away, always responding promptly and answering any questions big or small. I constantly tell my husband how much I feel spoiled by Dr. Stewart's team as they set the bar so high with their quality of care - while I like my OB, his team just does not compare.
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Stewart's office in Brooklyn is quiet, super modern and clean, and the office staff is so warm and personable. They are very organized and set a very friendly, professional but personal tone. The UES office is a more hectic and less personal, which is to be expected.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College.
All cost was out of pocket, which was ~$25k per retrieval cycle, and about $6k for the transfer.
Describe Joshua Stewart's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Stewart felt strongly about transferring 1 embryo only, as we were testing, and the risks of transferring multiples outweighed any benefit. I completely trusted and agreed with him.
Dr. Stewart was kind and humorous, making an intimidating egg freezing process more approachable...patient with my questions and educated me on my anatomy and fertility in layman's terms...quick to respond on the same day follow-up questions...kept me motivated and informed on my progress...explained how my scans were performing and what to possibly expected, and has a gentle bedside manner (ultrasounds aren’t comfortable with all the bloating!).
The Brooklyn location [at Weill Cornell Medical College] is way more personal and high touch compared to the Upper East Side...recently renovated so it’s super clean, modern/new equipment, and generally feels more calm...highly recommend this location for a small clinic experience, backed by the resources of large institution. The Upper East Side location is a trek, but it’s where weekend monitoring and retrievals happen...
How was your experience with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Stewart managed my care through two egg freezing cycles. I had researched a few providers from large healthcare networks in NYC. We met in-person and he was clear, direct, and patient in walking me through the statistics, procedure/process (including initial blood work and ultrasound) and timing considerations. He was quick to respond on the same day follow-up questions, and I knew he was the best-fit provider for me.
Over the course of my egg freezing cycles, he kept me motivated and informed on my progress. Daily monitoring was simple/quick, explained how my scans were performing and what to possibly expected, and has a gentle bedside manner (ultrasounds aren’t comfortable with all the bloating!).
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Don’t be afraid to ask any and all questions, and be direct in sharing your family planning goals/timing so you can plan the best course of treatment together
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Stewart was kind and humorous, making an intimidating egg freezing process more approachable. He was patient with my questions and educated me on my anatomy and fertility in layman's terms.
Describe the protocols Joshua Stewart used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
Round 1 egg freezing: was suggested to use an estrogen patch, but my ovulation had been inconsistent. Once period started, it was a 11 day process from injections to extraction. Used Menopur and Follistim for the first few days and added Ganirelix for the back half, rounded it out with Lupron trigger.
Round 2 egg freezing: used ovulation tracking strips and was able to apply estrogen patch before start of treatment. Similar protocol and timeline as above. We discussed and agreed on goal to improve outcomes, so Dr. Stewart started me on higher doses of Menopur and Follistim at the start of first few days and possibly extending the trigger shot.
Fertility is truly an art and a science. I was able to put my trust in Dr. Stewart’s expertise, and am grateful for the results!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Weill Cornell Medical College. (Assigned nurse: Molly Spika)
Molly was my NP for both cycles. While we communicated only via email and phone, she is an absolute gem and fantastic professional. Molly is highly detailed oriented, timely with her daily phone calls, patient to repeat/explain protocols, alleviate concerns/anxiety I’d been feeling, quick follow-ups with my pharmacies when I had issues with pre-auths, and was truly empathic and cheered me on the whole way.
Mikaela was the NP responsible for my daily monitoring. Despite early mornings, she always was so cheerful and quick with bloodwork.
Weekend monitoring is at their Upper East Side campus, where I interacted with a variety of nurses. Everyone was extremely professional, but it is more of an in/out v. personal experience
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
The Brooklyn location is way more personal and high touch compared to the Upper East Side. The clinic was recently renovated so it’s super clean, modern/new equipment, and generally feels more calm. In time of COVID, there would only be 1-2 patients I’d run into and everyone remained wearing masks. I never waited more than 5 minutes for monitoring, and despite sometimes running 15 minutes late for appointments, the team always fit me in ASAP with no problems or attitudes. Highly recommend this location for a small clinic experience, backed by the resources of large institution.
The Upper East Side location is a trek, but it’s where weekend monitoring and retrievals happen. Monitoring for my first cycle (July), I waited for 30 minutes until and I was seen; for my second cycle (October), I waited for 1+ hours. While the nurses were kind and friendly, I found the doctors completing my ultrasounds to be rather cold, rushed, and barely communicated with me on progress.
The billing and pre-auth departments can be annoying to get in touch with given a complicated phone tree. Once however you speak with the experts, they are direct and informative in addressing questions
Describe the costs associated with your care under Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Weill provides a pricing chart with the initial consultation. My insurance helped covered costs for treatment (once I met deductible) and medication, so out of pocket I probably paid $5K?
Dr. Stewart led with compassion that we were going through something hard, but also positivity and information...my first transfer failed, Dr. Stewart called personally to deliver the news, told me to take the weekend and then we would set an appointment to game plan next steps the following week
[Weill Cornell Medical College] Brooklyn office was incredible. Wait times were very low in comparison to the main Upper East Side location...every doctor that I saw within the practice was great...made me feel like I was in good hands and taken care of...Molly and the nursing staff were incredible
How was your experience with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
After my first doctor relocated from the clinic, I was nervous to start with someone new. However, immediately upon meeting with Dr. Stewart, my husband and I knew that were in good hands. Dr. Stewart led with compassion that we were going through something hard, but also positivity and information. Dr. Stewart was always very clear with facts and expectations.
I saw Dr. Stewart for every one of my monitoring appointments (unless over the weekend when all satellite offices go to the Upper East Side) and I left every appointment with a clear understanding of the process, where I was, and next steps. When my first transfer failed, Dr. Stewart called personally to deliver the news, told me to take the weekend and then we would set an appointment to game plan next steps the following week. Having communicated with many doctors through portals, it was nice to have that direct contact and the understanding that this was hard.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
If you want a doctor where you do not feel like a number, Dr. Stewart is one of the best. You will have a lot of direct contact with him during monitoring appointments and opportunities to ask questions and get a better understanding of what you are/will be going through.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Stewart, Molly and the rest of the office and nursing team were so warm throughout the entire process. There was always someone available to answer a question. Dr. Stewart routinely said that he would be mine and my husband's biggest cheerleader when were struggling or doubting the process, and that remained true. He was consistently positive, but also realistic, and made a very difficult process much better.
Molly and her team were always available to support and truly became a lifeline during the process. Knowing they were there and rooting for us was a huge help during the process.
Describe the protocols Joshua Stewart used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
I started with 3 IUIs for insurance purposes. Dr. Stewart remained positive about them but was clear that he ultimately felt that IVF would be the more successful route as I am DOR with only one ovary. After the 3 failed IUIs, I moved on to 2 rounds of IVF. I responded well to the meds the first round, so we kept the protocol pretty similar. Estrogen patching, Gonal-F, Menopur, Cetrotide (with Clomid added the 2nd round). I retrieved a small amount of eggs both time (due to DOR/1 ovary) but they were all mature in both rounds. I did a fresh transfer from the 1st egg retrieval (untested embryo), which did not stick. I did a second transfer from the 2nd egg retrieval (PGT tested) with a fully medicated transfer and it stuck!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Weill Cornell Medical College. (Assigned nurse: Molly)
Molly and the nursing staff were incredible. They were not only warm and compassionate, but also extremely knowledgeable. If you see Dr. Stewart, know that you are in amazing hands with the nursing staff!
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
The Brooklyn office was incredible. Wait times were very low in comparison to the main Upper East Side location. However, every doctor that I saw within the practice was great. Even though they were not my doctors, they made me feel like I was in good hands and taken care of.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College.
My egg retrievals and transfers were covered by insurance (after completing 3 IUIs). However, ICSI, which is the main fertilization technique used by Weill Cornell, is not covered through insurance, nor is PGT testing, freezing/thawing.
Describe Joshua Stewart's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Stewart and the full team go out of their way to approach each patient with kindness and compassion while educating you on exactly what is happening, next steps and possible outcomes. I never felt rushed for time at appointments...Not only is he an amazing compassionate doctor but a great human who deeply cares about his work, makes every patient feel like they're the most important and leads a great team of nurses and staff who are just as lovely to work with...
They [nurses at Weill Cornell Medical College] were completely accessible to me, positive and felt like my own personal cheerleaders. I looked forward to receiving their calls after my monitoring appointments and asked them so many questions but never felt rushed or that I was an inconvenience. When I started the egg retrieval process, I was overwhelmed by the meds and dosing the first day but they took so much extra time to walk me through everything multiple times and really calmed my nerves...
How was your experience with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
I truly cannot articulate how appreciative I am to have been in Dr. Stewart's care. Not only is he an amazing compassionate doctor but a great human who deeply cares about his work, makes every patient feel like they're the most important and leads a great team of nurses and staff who are just as lovely to work with. I never felt like just another patient or doubted that he wanted the same outcome for me and my husband as much as I did. I always felt heard by Dr. Stewart and feel really lucky to have been able to see him. I just wish he could be my OB for the remainder of my pregnancy! I
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
You will learn so much throughout this process - Dr. Stewart is super helpful in educating and going slow with his patients to ensure they understand. I asked so many questions and never felt rushed or embarrassed about what I didn't know about my own anatomy.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Stewart and the full team go out of their way to approach each patient with kindness and compassion while educating you on exactly what is happening, next steps and possible outcomes. I never felt rushed for time at appointments and always felt Dr. Stewart or his amazing nursing team (Molly & Annie) were completely accessible to me should I have any questions when not in the office. The team goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable and at ease, I actually enjoyed going to appointments and seeing the team so frequently!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Weill Cornell Medical College. (Assigned nurse: Molly & Annie)
I couldn't be more thankful for the attentive care of both Molly & Annie throughout my months of treatment with Dr. Stewart. They were completely accessible to me, positive and felt like my own personal cheerleaders. I looked forward to receiving their calls after my monitoring appointments and asked them so many questions but never felt rushed or that I was an inconvenience. When I started the egg retrieval process, I was overwhelmed by the meds and dosing the first day but they took so much extra time to walk me through everything multiple times and really calmed my nerves. Having them as a support throughout this process made me feel like I was in the best hands possible and I am truly grateful.
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
I loved the Brooklyn location of the clinic, which I went to M-F. On weekends I was able to go to the UES location or out in the Hamptons. I felt it was pretty easy to get an appointment to fit with my full time work schedule and busy life schedule on weekends. The Brooklyn & Hamptons locations were both newer, smaller and super efficient and UES is a bit larger with a higher volume of patients / offices / doctors.
He [Dr. Stewart] has a very caring manner, and he is very personable and thoughtful in explaining the process, the potential outcomes as well as the risks. He is very knowledgeable, and he was very careful to keep a balance between the needed medications and the desired outcome. This journey is a an emotional one and we really felt supported along the way...IUI with clomid & ovidrel. IVF cycles with Menopur, Gonal-F, Cetrotide for stimulation, HCG and Lupron for trigger...
[Weill Cornell Medical College] Very organized, there was hardly ever waiting time. Their Upper East office is open on both Sundays & Saturdays. How was your experience with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr Stewart was amazing during this journey. He has a very caring manner, and he is very personable and thoughtful in explaining the process, the potential outcomes as well as the risks. He is very knowledgeable, and he was very careful to keep a balance between the needed medications and the desired outcome. This journey is a an emotional one and we really felt supported along the way. I would strongly recommend him.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Ask all the questions you want, no question is stupid and Dr Stewart will clarify anything you need.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr Stewart is an amazing doctor, he has been so caring along this emotional journey. He always explained the process in a caring and thoughtful manner while also sharing the right details.
Describe the protocols Joshua Stewart used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
IUI with clomid & ovidrel.
IVF cycles with Menopur, Gonal-F, Cetrotide for stimulation, HCG and Lupron for trigger (HCG intramuscular - the Dr does not recommend subcutanous).
Genetic testing embryos due to our age there was a high risk of abnormalities.
IVF transfer of 1 embryo (if the embryos are tested and normal it is not recommended to transfer 2 embryos as it is a high risk pregnancy)
Progesterone until week 8
Describe your experience with your nurse at Weill Cornell Medical College. (Assigned nurse: Molly & Annie - Dr Stewart’s nursing team)
Both Molly & Annie were great - always responsive, very knowledgeable and caring as they were sharing sometimes not so good news. They are both very organized, I knew exactly when I will receive a callback with results.
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
Very organized, there was hardly ever waiting time.
Their Upper East office is open on both Sundays & Saturdays.
Make sure you know from your nurses your appointment time because it is hard to get somebody on the phone during the weekend.
The doctors and nurses that did the IUI & the egg retrieval/transfer were all great, very nice and with a calming attitude, as it was my first time going through anesthesia.
A weakness is the billing process, which I assume is like this everywhere - the preauthorization process took time and was delayed.
[Dr. Stewart] made sure to explain my condition and my options to me in layman’s terms without being at all condescending...I will speak here to those with POI specifically. I knew that the odds of conceiving a child with my own eggs were slim. I decided to plug away at it for a year under [his] supervision, notwithstanding these odds...In Dec 2021, I received a positive pregnancy test, and as I’m writing this (June 2022), I am in my third trimester of pregnancy.
I was seen only at the Brooklyn location [of Weill Cornell Medical College]. The waiting room was clean, spacious, never crowded. I rarely had to wait more than 5 min before being seen. It is an efficiently run operation, which was very much appreciated given the frequency of blood and ultrasound monitoring I underwent...Molly was fabulous. She always called me the same day with results, and every question or concern I expressed was met with respect, patience, and sensitivity
How was your experience with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Stewart is just as he is described by all the glowing reviews here—kind, respectful, present, compassionate, professional, etc—but what struck me most was his level of expertise. I had full confidence that he was on top of all the relevant research on my condition and that he could put this knowledge into practice. With some infertility conditions (like my own, primary ovarian insufficiency), the best one can hope for is luck. But as they say, luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. If there is an opportunity, Dr. Stewart will spot it, and he is as prepared as anyone could be to make the most of it. You couldn’t be in more capable hands.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
I will speak here to those with POI specifically. I knew that the odds of conceiving a child with my own eggs were slim. I decided to plug away at it for a year under Dr. Stewart’s supervision, notwithstanding these odds. My decision was not so much in the hope of success, but so that I could know I gave it a good try and perhaps find some peace in that down the road. I would advise anyone with POI to do the same. Go in with reasonable expectations. Conceiving a child with your own eggs is for most of us unlikely, but you can rest assured that you are not wasting your time with Dr. Stewart. He is as knowledgeable and skilled as they come, and he will optimize any chances you have.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Stewart takes his time with each patient. He made sure to explain my condition and my options to me in layman’s terms without being at all condescending or uninformative, and he kept me fully informed of where things stood throughout the process. This involved, e.g., real-time ultrasound results during each visit and same-day calls regarding my blood results.
Describe the protocols Joshua Stewart used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
I was diagnosed with POI in May 2021. Beginning in July 2021, I underwent regular blood and ultrasound monitoring for guidance with timed intercourse. I was also prescribed estrogen patches to suppress my high FSH levels. The process eventually led to one cycle (in Nov 2021) that began with relatively low FSH levels. Dr. Stewart pounced on the opportunity and prescribed what turned out to be a successful round of Clomid. I was sent home with an Ovidrel trigger shot and instructions for timed intercourse. In Dec 2021, I received a positive pregnancy test, and as I’m writing this (June 2022), I am in my third trimester of pregnancy.

Dr. Stewart's treatment protocol closely monitored my estrogen levels so as to mitigate the risks of IVF that may have been tied to my cancer history. He also took the time to consult with my oncologist before devising his treatment plan...He was methodical and thorough in assessing my situation, and explained each result and prognosis in an accessible way. He presented me with a recommendation that factored in my concerns and was honest about the outcomes that I could realistically expect...
the nursing team [at Weill Cornell Medical College] was always kind, courteous and patient, and were responsive to patient questions and needs...While the main clinic location located at Weil Cornell on the Upper East Side can feel a bit impersonal and like a fertility factory given the high volume of patients being seen at any given time, the Brooklyn clinic location had the complete opposite feel...Each provider was attentive and professional.
How was your experience with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Before beginning treatment with Dr. Stewart, I had consultations with other providers. From my first contact with Dr. Stewart, I had complete confidence that he understood my family building goals and also my areas of concern specific to my medical situation. He was methodical and thorough in assessing my situation, and explained each result and prognosis in an accessible way. He presented me with a recommendation that factored in my concerns and was honest about the outcomes that I could realistically expect. With each step of the process, I knew that I could rely on the fact that Dr. Stewart was taking time to keep updated on my progress. Dr. Stewart was optimistic and encouraging, and also provided me the information that I needed to be able to make informed decisions about my treatment plan. Dr. Stewart is kind, personable and effectively instilled confidence. I have left each interaction with Dr. Stewart feeling well cared for and knowing that he has my best interests at the forefront of all recommendations that he makes. My only regret is that I'm not able to continue care with Dr. Stewart through my pregnancy!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
My advice for prospective patients is to be open and communicative with Dr. Stewart regarding your goals and concerns. He is non-judgemental and treats his patients with respect.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Stewart clearly cares so much about all of his patients. His bedside manner and communication skills are excellent, and he took the time to understand my priorities and goals and offered treatments that had taken these into consideration. He clearly explained the pros and cons and what I should expect along the way. Dr. Stewart has a kind and easy going disposition, and made me feel like he was truly following along with my treatment progress and making needed adjustments along the way. He arrived to each appointment updated on my chart and was able to quickly and effectively answer any questions I had. Even though his practice is busy, I never felt rushed and left my appointment confident that he had paid full attention to my case. His team (from front desk staff to nursing staff) were always kind, welcoming and helpful.
Describe the protocols Joshua Stewart used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
I went to Dr. Stewart for help conceiving after years of ovarian suppression following a breast cancer diagnosis. Dr. Stewart's treatment protocol closely monitored my estrogen levels so as to mitigate the risks of IVF that may have been tied to my cancer history. He also took the time to consult with my oncologist before devising his treatment plan. I was able to retrieve more eggs than Dr. Stewart had initially predicted, and was also able to freeze more normal embryos than had been anticipated. Dr. Stewart was also supportive of my decision to have weekly acupuncture treatments throughout my retrieval and transfer cycles.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Weill Cornell Medical College. (Assigned nurse: Molly Spilka, NP)
My primary point of contact was with Molly Spilka. With each phone call to updated me on my treatment protocol, Molly provided clear instructions and made sure to include explanations for any medication changes that were being recommended. Molly was generous with her time when I asked her to explain different medications, what was happening with my body and what I could expect in terms of next steps as the process moved forward. Any questions or concerns that I raised were responded to promptly either by return phone call or email, and Molly helped me to make sure that I had the correct medication supply and worked to trouble shoot any problems with this. There were a few times that I spoke to other nurses or to the PA Celia Chen. Each provider was informative and clear. They validated any concerns that I had and offered me helpful advice. Like Dr. Stewart, the nursing team was always kind, courteous and patient, and were responsive to patient questions and needs.
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
While the main clinic location located at Weil Cornell on the Upper East Side can feel a bit impersonal and like a fertility factory given the high volume of patients being seen at any given time, the Brooklyn clinic location had the complete opposite feel! Apart from my procedures and a few monitoring appointments, all of my care was provided at the Brooklyn location. This clinic site is clean, quiet and inviting. The front desk staff is warm, friendly and efficient. Appointment times were honored and wait times were short. I had both egg retrieval and embryo transfer at the hospital, and the process was efficient and ran smoothly for each procedure. The nursing team post egg retrieval were excellent, and made sure to help me manage my symptoms before discharge. Each provider was attentive and professional.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College.
The egg retrieval costs were around 11K and the embryo transfer fees were around 5K. Some of my testing and lab work was covered by insurance, and Dr. Stewarts office also helped me to apply for a LiveStrong fertility grant.
Describe Joshua Stewart's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Stewart recommended that I transfer one embryo, and I felt well informed of his rationale for this.
I loved that Dr. Stewart saw me for every visit and made time to sit down and actually talk/answer any questions I had...was wonderful from the first visit. I was honestly not expecting someone so kind, patient and approachable. From the beginning, he took the time to explain every procedure, treatment, and next step with patience and kindness. I can tell that he genuinely cares about his patients and never worried that I would not get the care and/or answers I needed. I wish he could be my OB beyond fertility treatment!
The nurses (Sarah and Molly) [at Weill Cornell Medical College] always got back to me as soon as my test results were in and were great at communicating...The clinic itself is clean, spacious and beautiful. All of the staff members are kind and compassionate. Sherrell, at the front desk, was always so nice, easy to talk to and prompt in getting me and my husband scheduled for any procedures or appointments...Protocols
I started with ovulation monitoring due to secondary infertility (12 months TTC, with a 2 year old that was not difficult to conceive). This monitoring involved bloodwork and ultrasound around the time of ovulation to predict timing and schedule timed intercourse. Dr. Stewart saw a small calcification on my uterus that may have been a remnant from my first pregnancy. I went for a hysteroscopy (D&C) to have this area removed as it was possible it was preventing successful implantation. Dr. Stewart told me many times that this was not 100%, that this may not have been causing any issues with implantation but that it couldn't be ruled out as an issue. He made sure that I was in full agreement on proceeding with this as a next step. I actually pushed for this to be done. After this, I did one cycle of Letrozole with a trigger injection. This was to ensure ovulation was actually occurring and also time intercourse even more accurately.

Dr. Stewart called me several times throughout the process to review medications and next steps. I also saw him for the majority of my monitoring appointments, which very meaningful for me...I was initially intimidated by the egg freezing process - it is obviously a highly emotional decision. Dr. Stewart and his team simplified the process and gave me all of the information that I needed, allowing me to feel empowered by the decision I was making. I felt supported by Dr. Stewart; he is not only approachable, but also reachable.
When I did my egg freezing cycle, I was living in Brooklyn and working in Manhattan. I was so pleased that Cornell has locations in both places, making it super easy and convenient for me to get to various appointments throughout the process...From initial visit to the daily monitoring / calls with medication instructions, the nurses were super straightforward and clear...I felt very lucky to get to see my own doctor for the majority of my monitoring appointments. While the practice is busy, I always felt individually attended to and cared for.

Describe Joshua Stewart's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
[Dr. Stewart is] Great at managing expectations and providing context while maintaining compassionate, trustworthy bedside manner...He was always upbeat, friendly and genuine...We did 2 rounds of timed intercourse with trigger shot (both failed) and then went to IVF with PGT-A and FET (which worked in one transfer round)...I appreciated this approach [eset] as I am afraid of twins and was otherwise healthy.

Dr Stewart is the best doctor I’ve ever come across, I wish I could continue my pregnancy journey with him until the end, but thanks to his expertise, I’m writing this review 9 weeks pregnant as I’ve just graduated from his clinic. He’s exceptionally warm, thorough, explains things in an easy to understand way, had time for all my questions and has a sense of humor to make you laugh along the way.
The [Weill Cornell Medical College] Brooklyn clinic feels intimate, personal and calm which made the entire experience less intimidating or daunting than I’d originally anticipated. You do have to go to the UES clinic on weekends and for egg retrieval/transfers which is a lot busier but everyone I met was equally as kind and warm...My dedicated nurse (Molly) who called me for my daily protocol update and to share results was an angel. I felt like she genuinely cared about our journey, was super supportive and answered all my emails with random questions quickly and thoroughly. Thank you Molly!

Dr Stewart and his entire team are the most wonderful medical team I’ve ever come across. From Stefan at the front office, Molly my nurse, all the nurses you meet for daily monitoring and Dr Stewart himself - they are all exceptionally kind and warm. Dr Stewart remembered the nuances of my situation at every meet, Molly was always available for my random questions and they guided me through every step of the process. The Brooklyn office is small and you’ll only ever see 1-2 other people at any one time in the waiting room so the care feels intimate and personal. I can’t thank them enough not only for the top notch medical care but the way I was looked after from start to finish.
Describe the protocols Joshua Stewart used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
Daily monitoring results were checked by Dr Stewart and my protocol for egg retrieval altered daily to work with my body. We did PGT testing given I’d had two prior miscarriages. We then had a 5 day frozen transfer.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Weill Cornell Medical College.
My SIS sounding appointment wasn’t made correctly and it wasn’t confirmed for the day/time I’d been told but it was no big deal.
Dr. Stewart was extremely kind and compassionate, and showed great knowledge throughout our fertility journey. He created a personalized plan and was extremely communicative throughout all cycles. Being the only doctor in his office created a very intimate environment and allowed me to get to know his nurses and staff, unlike the larger office uptown where we had to go for weekend visits which felt more like a factory. He was gentle and cautious when delivering bad news, and always had a next steps plan ready to be discussed if and when I was open to moving on. He was also excited and optimistic when delivering the good news, and it really felt as though he was extremely invested in our journey to create a family, and our success was his success. This created a trustworthiness that was very helpful throughout our journey.
I had a great experience at Well Cornell and ultimately was successful. I would recommend going to the Brooklyn office if possible as this location is more personalized and intimate than the main office uptown. That being said, all medical procedures were done at the hospital which was very clean and professional...[nurse] Mikaela was incredible. She was a bright light in such a long and difficult journey. She was always kind and gentle, and always left me feeling good and hopeful. It was very helpful having one primary nurse throughout the process as this was the person I saw the most when going through each cycle.

Dr. Stewart's practice and bedside manner was extremely personalized and it felt like he was really rooting for our success. He was realistically optimistic and always managed to stay positive and keep us hopeful, even when delivering negative news or results. Having a small staff at the Brooklyn location always made it seem like they knew me and my partner well, and were invested in our fertility journey. We could not have felt more comfortable and at ease knowing he was in charge of our care, especially given such a sensitive and emotional journey we were on together.

Because we did multiple cycles, Dr. Stewart adjusted and adapted our IVF plan based on previous results and how my body responded to the medications -- and each time we ended up with more eggs retrieved than the previous cycle. He also pushed to help me do a naturally timed transfer-- saving me from unnecessary medications and injections, which I was very grateful for...was very attentive, patient and ready to answer any and all questions from our very first consultation through my last appointment with him a month after my frozen embryo transfer. He was honest about our obstacles, but hopeful and optimistic throughout a long year with some ups and downs. We are so appreciative of Dr. Stewart and always felt like we were in the best hands in terms our IVF journey.
nurses [at Weill Cornell Medical College] were very helpful and informative. They were available by phone or email to answer questions about medications, side effects and appointments...I was very happy with Weill Cornell -- they have a team of excellent doctors and nurses. Each doctor I had for my retrievals and transfer made me feel comfortable and at ease. My only slight critique would be how busy the UES office got on the weekends --as it was the only location open for monitoring on Saturdays and Sundays.

We were lucky to have insurance cover a lot of the expenses associated with our care.
I have newly diagnosed PCOS, so treatment initially [with Dr. Joshua Stewart] was just natural cycle monitoring with bloodwork and ultrasound...Dr. Stewart always spends time with you during appointments, is patient, reassuring, optimistic, and genuinely just SO KIND. He takes his time to explain things, makes sure all your questions are answered, and I never felt rushed. In addition to him, all the other staff in the office are wonderful. From the front desk, the nurses, phlebotomists, etc.
Molly [nurse at Weill Cornell Medical College] was incredible. She was very detailed, helpful, warm, encouraging, and served as a great therapist in addition to being a great nurse! Helped me coordinate prescription issues, and always relayed information effectively. She also was so supportive when I would end up crying to her on the phone! Really found her to be wonderful...The Brooklyn office is not the "main" office, so the one downside is that for any procedures, you have to go to the main office in Manhattan. But that being said, the Brooklyn office is brand new, gorgeous, high tech, and the staff there are wonderful! It's primarily for monitoring appointments, bloodwork, and consultations.
How was your experience with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Stewart is warm, reassuring, and patient. He really takes his time with you and is very understanding of your concerns and anxieties. I trusted him wholeheartedly. I have newly diagnosed PCOS, so treatment initially was just natural cycle monitoring with bloodwork and ultrasound.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Weill Cornell Medical College. (Assigned nurse: Molly Spilka)
Molly was incredible. She was very detailed, helpful, warm, encouraging, and served as a great therapist in addition to being a great nurse! Helped me coordinate prescription issues, and always relayed information effectively. She also was so supportive when I would end up crying to her on the phone! Really found her to be wonderful.
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
The Brooklyn office is not the "main" office, so the one downside is that for any procedures, you have to go to the main office in Manhattan. But that being said, the Brooklyn office is brand new, gorgeous, high tech, and the staff there are wonderful! It's primarily for monitoring appointments, bloodwork, and consultations.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College.
I am lucky that the large majority of costs were covered by my insurance. But they give you very detailed billing documentation during your first appointment so nothing is a "surprise." They also give scripts of what to ask your insurance company, etc. Also have a dedicated billing number to call with any questions or concerns.
Dr. Stewart is a wonderful physician who uses his expertise to build a fertility plan for his patients designed specifically for them. He thoroughly discussed my diagnosis with me and was extremely empathetic and compassionate while delivering my care. During our last IUI cycle, he was able to work around the death of my uncle. He cares about you as a person and your quality of life...I was diagnosed with PCOS and did 4 IUIs. Once I was diagnosed with PCOS, I started Metformin. During the preparation for the first IUI, I happened to be ovulating on my own so no additional medications were taken for this IUI. My husband was also diagnosed with a varicocele and Dr. Stewart referred him to an excellent surgeon. For the last 3 IUIs, I took letrozole for ovulation and Ovidrel as the trigger injection. We were successful on our 4th IUI and are currently expecting twins.
The care from Dr. Stewart and his team [at Weill Cornell Medical College] is extremely personal. His care is exceptional from the moment you begin working with him...Sarah [nurrse] was fabulous. She was always available for any questions, and would promptly follow up same day post labs. She was compassionate and connected with me on a personal level. She works wonderfully with Dr. Stewart as they both connect with you to deliver your care plan.

The Weill Cornell clinic is exceptional. All the staff I encountered were kind and provided excellent care. Different NPs performed 3 of my IUIs and each one explained each part of the process and made sure I was comfortable the entire time.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College.
I was fortunate enough to have insurance coverage for my care with Dr. Stewart. I paid a $35 copay for each appointment and IUI and $30 for each trigger injection.
From our first consultation, Dr. Stewart wanted to get to know us as a couple and individually. He expressed the fertility journey can be tough and he would be here for us all along the way - after every blood test or result, he would call us....not just his nurses. He took extra steps to ensure we knew he was one call away for any questions or concerns. He’s the most attentive and engaged doctor I’ve ever had...We did have a chemical pregnancy / miscarriage and he was there for us emotionally as a doctor and helped us navigate what to do next. I cannot say better things about him as a doctor (and fertility support coach)!
Both nurses [at Weill Cornell Medical College] were warm and welcoming every time I saw them or heard from them...Brooklyn office is great particularly with COVID, you aren’t at a hospital with multiple floors and patient rooms - it’s just 1 floor and you can go in and out. All IUIs are done uptown but day to day appointments are in Brooklyn...We went with IUI from the beginning so it was only one strategy. After 3 attempts he still felt confident we would conceive given my results previously had continued to show growth in a positive way - 4th time, we conceived!
How was your experience with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Stewart is attentive and truly deeply cares about his patients. Throughout our fertility journey together it felt as if I was his only patient - that’s how much he connected with us and made the time (however long) to see or speak to us. Coming into fertility as a complete unknown to us, he explained absolutely everything in detail and made sure we felt clear and confident about each of the steps. He is welcoming and attentive when you first meet him and that did not change from the time I moved on once I got pregnant. We did have a chemical pregnancy / miscarriage and he was there for us emotionally as a doctor and helped us navigate what to do next. I cannot say better things about him as a doctor (and fertility support coach)!

No question is too dumb, ask whatever questions you have...as many times as you need to! He’s patient and will make things as clear as possible for you

How was your experience with Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Stewart listened to me and understood that I was eager but that I wanted to explore options before IVF. He ensured that we did not rush into treatments without all the data and information to make informed decisions.
He went above and beyond, calling to give me results when he could, meeting us in the office for a consult after hours, staying at the hospital so he could do an insemination for me. He really believes in a very high standard of care, but has a strong understanding of the science behind every decision.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Joshua Stewart at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Be open and honest about what is most important for you in the process, he will listen to what you want to do and help guide you based on his experience and expertise.

He [Dr. Joshua Stewart] takes the time to listen completely and thoroughly explains every aspect of care and treatment. He also values patients opinions and comments about their care...the best doctor I have ever worked with. He is very thorough, compassionate, and has a fantastic bedside manner. It was also great that he addresses every concern on the first visit, from the consultation to the full evaluation. You leave his office knowing exactly what is going on and what the plan is to proceed. I would 100% recommended him to anyone I know and have in fact already done so to several people.
All of Dr. Stewart’s staff [at Weill Cornell Medical College] are extremely friendly and helpful. My questions were always answered promptly...The clinic is very bright and welcoming from the moment you walk in the door. The reception staff greet you quickly and the wait is never long. Appointments are also easily scheduled at the front desk. It is truly a good experience from start to finish...As someone with PCOS who does not ovulate regularly, Dr. Stewart came up with a quick and easy plan that fit my needs and wants perfectly. Luckily for us, getting pregnant was as easy as some synthroid and metformin.

Dr. Stewart always took the time to answer all of our questions and would give us a game plan that we could understand and would put our minds at ease that there were other options available to us despite our having had two failed transfers prior to switching to him...When things were not going well or it was bad news, Dr. Stewart would always personally call and thoroughly explain things, as well as provide us with additional options so we would not lose hope. Dr. Stewart was phenomenal. My husband and I switched to Dr. Stewart after having a terrible experience at another clinic where the doctor was unresponsive and uninvolved in our treatment. Dr. Stewart is one of the most caring physicians I have ever come across. Infertility can be a very lonely and daunting process and throughout our time together he often was the one keeping hope alive for my husband and I. He always reached out to follow up and was always the one who called if there was bad news.
Describe the protocols Joshua Stewart used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
I had two failed frozen embryo transfers prior to seeing Dr. Stewart, both were medicated cycles. On my first cycle with Dr. Stewart, we tried an unmedicated cycle which was not successful. Dr. Stewart then suggested an ERA which showed that my implantation window was slightly off from the norm. The next cycle we did another frozen, unmedicated cycle, which unfortunately resulted in an ectopic pregnancy. Dr. Stewart then suggested we try another round of IVF with a fresh transfer, which was successful.
