How was your experience with Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
Very cold, impatient doctor that seems to be desensitized to her work. Her blunt cold responses, harping on my age then ultimately convincing the other female doctor to but don’t surgery made me cry, want to give up and mist definitely feel like tons of gas traveling and paying money to her was wasted. If you are over 35 go somewhere else where they won’t make you feel like a grandma trying to conceive. Her last words to me were so cold and uncaring it felt like when you see the mean doc on tv come out and say “sorry she’s going to die soon” and walk off. Simply cold!! Thank goodness others encouraged me to seek a second opinion and I did and got the surgery done with none of the toxic ness Dr. K. Doody served!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
If you are older- go somewhere else
If you are struggling with fibroids- go somewhere else
If you are liking for gentle compassion and understanding go somewhere else!
When she gave me her dooms day news of having “consulted” with the doctor I had just paid to not do my surgery and I got another opinion who couldn’t understand why she would say or do that I learned that there are compassionate Doctors out there who care and will handle with care.
Keep searching there is better out there!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
Every session felt rushed despite us driving two hours to see her. Her demeanor was cold and lacking compassion which I now know from others is not a uncommon thing. I had to rush and interject to get cold textbook answers to my questions sometimes leading to tears over her blunt responses
Describe the protocols Kathleen Doody used in your cycles at CARE Fertility Texas and their degree of success.
I was advised to find a specialist in open Myomectomy and she was in network so we went with it. Did lots of testing which came in handy later ugh other specialists. She says her eyesight is not good to do the surgeries and longer so the other female doctor under her was to do it. Right before having my surgery my last visit with her she coldly told me that her clinic would not be doing the surgery due to not having enough tissue to work with and an enlarged uterus and I just needed to take it out. No doctors following her ever stated that at all!

All of the staff were pretty cordial or darn right nice. Doesn’t match the service you will later get from the doctor.
Describe your experience with CARE Fertility Texas.
It was Covid time so we had to wait outside so I can’t say much. Bathrooms were relatively clean and equipment felt/looked clean so it felt sanitized. Every now and then I would encounter a grumpy don’t care what you are saying front person or nurse but they were very nice and accommodating and patient for the most part

I don’t truly remember as my boyfriend often paid, I just know it felt like tons of money and more test including more money. Lord of money wasted

Just felt like we wasted a lot of money and constant traveling to be blind sighted at the last minute, surgery and date paid for only for this doctor to go convince the others that I just needed a hysterectomy and not corrective to raise my chances. Can you imagine how hard that was finally reaching surgery time to be told no and her why in the coldest fashion. I have told everyone I can’t imagine how she would make someone feel who has never had kids! It’s a way to say everything correctly
She had a rushed bedside manner, and at times felt like she needed to quickly make a presence in my appointment and then move on. However, during the initial consultation, she spent more time listening and trying to understand our infertility journey. She also recommended testing that no other doctor or specialist I had seen before had recommended, which was nice to be able to dig deeper into testing.
They are cutting edge on research and new connections of things that might cause infertility and are willing to test for those things. However, their primary recommendation for treatment is either IUI or IVF, not looking for a holistic root cause approach if their initial testing showed unexplained infertility. Another benefit of this clinic is they are always doing some type of IVF trial or other test trials/study, so if you qualify that can help greatly reduce the cost to treatments and different blood tests.
How was your experience with Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
She can be rushed at times with her appointments, especially any visit after the initial consultation. And she cussed a little bit around us, which was slightly uncomfortable because my husband and I told her we both work at a church and my husband is a pastor, so it caught us off guard a bit. But overall we appreciated how she was open to testing for new things that were cutting edge of research, and she seems very knowledgeable and I trust her to suggest the best path for us to take.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
Ask as many questions as you can think of during the initial consultation, and try to not move on from her office until you get all of your questions answered, even if she wants to move onto an exam. Because once you leave her office, you don’t go back during the consult appt, she will be wrapping up the appt after an exam.

Describe your experience with the nursing staff at CARE Fertility Texas.
Most of them were kind and friendly, but I only interacted with 2-3 of them, and I can’t remember their names. However, one person who worked for another doctor at this clinic, but helped out with one of my procedures, was very curt and forceful, and seemed mad during my whole appt.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at CARE Fertility Texas.
They failed to inform me of a major requirement/disqualifying factor in one of the IVF trials (Hashimotos disqualified me), and I didn’t find out that I wouldn’t qualify until 3 days before my cycle was supposed to start. This was heartbreaking and could have been communicated a lot sooner rather than getting my hopes up.
On one-on-one meetings with Dr. Kathy she is very compassionate and answers all your questions. She is very knowledgeable and takes her time with patients. When you are going through patients, the clinic is very busy and you are shuffled around to different rooms and different nurses quite a bit.... Laparoscopic surgery to investigate a final blockage. Clomid IUI based on irregular cycles, but unexplained fertility. We did 3 rounds of Clomid/IUI.
The cutting edge treatments and being on the forefront of clinical research would be a strength of this clinic [CARE Fertility]. The large number of patients making you sometimes feel like a number would be a negative....The nurses are all exceptionally kind people. Even though you may see a different nurse during times of a cycle based on the day you’re at the clinic, they all get to know you over time and are quite friendly. This puts you at ease. Some of the nurses seem disorganized at times, but I think that is a result of the large patient load.
How was your experience with Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
When speaking with Dr. Kathy you can tell she is an incredibly intelligent and knowledgeable doctor. She is also someone that has the rare gift of being able to explain complicated medical procedures or terms in a manner that a layperson can understand. She is always up to date on the latest technologies and procedures. She always always had a hopeful message with her delivery and was accessible to me for appointments and consultations when I wanted to discuss a test result or a change in treatment.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
Be organized and ask questions. The clinic is very busy and you have to be your own advocate. Also be patient and remain hopeful.

Testing and laparoscopy were covered by my insurance. We paid out of pocket approximately $1000 including medication for each IUI cycle.

We have not started an IVF cycle, but we were told that due to our age, only one embryo would be transferred.

Dr. Doody is very friendly and knowledgeable. She is a leader in the field and is up to date on the latest trends and information regarding assisted reproduction. My criticism is she has so many patients and when we would see her it was apparent that she had only reviewed our file five minutes before we arrived....We have done three IUI treatments including taking Clomid. We were set to try IVF but the corona virus pandemic stopped our planned treatment.

We signed some consent forms as part of an IVF clinical study. They lost them and we had to sign them again.
Out of the almost year and a half I have been in treatment, I have seen my doctor [Dr. Kathleen Doody] a total of 4 times. This also includes when I had surgery to remove a cyst from my ovary...She was very clinical in her approach. She would try to explain things to us...unsure of where we stood or what our next step was when we left...we did 3 cycles back to back, the exact same way each time...None of them worked...said we needed IVF. We signed up for a trial and got the call a few months later for screening. I missed qualifying by .01%, which the nurse felt the need to tell me.
[CARE Fertility] is very nice and has everything on site for most of the testing. They even have a surgery center in the same building that is very convenient...offer welcome packages on your first visit...A few times I had to call and ask for results in order to obtain them...We signed up for a trial and got the call a few months later for screening. I missed qualifying by .01%, which the nurse felt the need to tell me.
How was your experience with Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
She was very clinical in her approach. She would try to explain things to us, but we didn’t understand a lot of what she explained and were very unsure of where we stood or what our next step was when we left. We also rarely saw her, and mostly dealt with clinic staff.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
Write down all your questions, ask very pointed and direct questions and make sure you get a direct answer.

Out of the almost year and a half I have been in treatment, I have seen my doctor a total of 4 times. This also includes when I had surgery to remove a cyst from my ovary. Everything was very clinical and in a step by step order.
Describe the protocols Kathleen Doody used in your cycles at CARE Fertility Texas and their degree of success.
We did testing for the first 3 months. All the blood work, HSG, Hysteroscopy, semen analysis, the works. It was discovered I had a cyst on an ovary and it had to be removed. We had it removed and she said we could try naturally for a few months, as it was large and could have been disrupting something in my uterus. She said to call when we were ready for IUI. When we began doing IUI, we did 3 cycles back to back, the exact same way each time. 5 days of clomid. Call when you get a positive ovulation test and go in the same day for insemination. None of them worked. After the 3rd one, she said the chances of it working were slim to none at this point and said we needed IVF. We signed up for a trial and got the call a few months later for screening. I missed qualifying by .01%, which the nurse felt the need to tell me. My husband had a DNA analysis of his sperm, which was normal. So basically I’ve been told now I need to just call them when I’m ready for IVF, which we can’t afford and have no insurance coverage for.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at CARE Fertility Texas.
Most of the nursing staff was caring and understanding. They explained things to me and answered my questions when I didn’t understand something.

My IUI’s were $1000 each cycle. We spent close to $600 on initial testing. My surgery for cyst removal was $1,300 after insurance.
What specific things went wrong at CARE Fertility Texas?
Failed to call with results
Failed to order appropriate test
Describe the specific things that went wrong at CARE Fertility Texas.
It was difficult when waiting for results. A few times I had to call and ask for results in order to obtain them. We also experienced a nurse not letting us know the dr had ordered more testing until a few months after it was ordered.
She [Dr. Kathleen Doody] wanted me to use Clomid and IUI. Her rationale is that I am not ovulating and that clomid makes you ovulate but makes it hard for sperm to make it to the egg. She said that she takes care of that by doing an IUI at the same time. She wanted to me to take clomid with a trigger shot and then use IUI in my first cycle. She also said that I needed to remain on birth control when I wasn’t in a treatment cycle...
I spent about $1,000 just on testing [at CARE Fertility]...They don’t communicate results in the most compassionate way. They just tell you matter of fact, and don’t really explain what results mean if you don’t ask the right questions. When I got my HSG and scoping done, they never actually told me what they found or saw, they just said that it was time to go to IUI...They [the nurses] were very informative and treated me like a person the whole time. They understood where I was emotionally and didn’t rush or pressure me in anyway
How was your experience with Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
She was very detailed about the information of my PCOS diagnosis and how she wanted to treat me. My main complaint is that she is unwilling to take small steps in order to help me get pregnant, she wanted to jump straight to expensive treatments because it’s how they operate there. From what I understood, her way is more successful more often, but financial is extremely expensive.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
Ask more questions and don’t leave before they are answered.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?

Describe the specific things that went wrong at CARE Fertility Texas.
They simply didn’t actually communicate results when I had tests done. They didn’t give me any info other than what treatment they wanted to pursue.
when beginning the IVF process, my husband and I were under the understanding we were doing Effortless IVF because it’s all we had talked about with her [Dr. Kathleen Doody]. Side note: she’s a huge proponent of Effortless. It wasn’t until we saw the financial consultant at the end of our appointment that we learned we were not good candidates for it. It was frustrating that she did not inform us of this when we were in consult with her. My husband does not think she has a warm bedside manner, and this bothers him. I prefer my doctors to be direct, so I appreciate her candidness. She is very straightforward when she is communicating. She seems to really know what she’s doing, which is why I stayed with her.
It seems they [nurses at CARE Fertility] aren’t very good at updating charts so everyone knows what is happening...Communication is lacking sometimes...day of egg retrieval, I was told to start Estrace day 1 of my cycle. At my first appointment to begin FET cycle, the nurse did not know I had started taking it and was confused that I had. She then did not inform the doctor that I was taking it. The doctor thought my estradiol levels were too high and wanted to cancel my cycle. After I informed her I was taking the Estrace, we proceeded with cycle.
How was your experience with Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
My biggest issue with Dr. Doody is that I don’t feel like communication is always clear. For example, when beginning the IVF process, my husband and I were under the understanding we were doing Effortless IVF because it’s all we had talked about with her. Side note: she’s a huge proponent of Effortless. It wasn’t until we saw the financial consultant at the end of our appointment that we learned we were not good candidates for it. Be proactive in your communication-don’t wait for her to tell you something
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
I always feel very rushed when I’m with the doctor.
Describe the protocols Kathleen Doody used in your cycles at CARE Fertility Texas and their degree of success.
Before seeing Dr. Doody, I had 7 unsuccessful IUIs at another clinic. She decided we needed to live straight to IVF, which I appreciated because I was over IUIs. I have an endometrioma on each ovary, but there has been no intervention for these. The plan was for a fresh transfer. I started with 20 units of Lupron for 8 days. Then 10 units of Lupron, 2 vials of Menopur, and 75 units of Gonal-f for 9 days. I started my period in the middle of this so we decided to do a FET but planned to proceed with retrieval. Retrieval resulted in 3 eggs, one fertilized, and one frozen.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at CARE Fertility Texas.
The nurses have been great. They take their time and listen to my concerns. They were especially great on the day of egg retrieval. My only complaint is lack of communication. For example, post-op nurse told me to start Estrace on first day of my cycle. I went in for first appointment to prepare for FET and that nurse didn’t know I was on the medication and was confused about why I had already started. Doctor called later that day to cancel my FET cycle because my estradiol levels were too high. She didn’t know I had already started the medication either. It seems they aren’t very good at updating charts so everyone knows what is happening.
Describe your experience with CARE Fertility Texas.
The clinic is clean and in a convenient location. They have an in house lab, so there’s no need for them to send your bloodwork somewhere for results. Egg retrieval is also done in the same office. The front staff is courteous. There isn’t a ton of privacy. The consult “rooms” are cubicles, so you can see and hear financial discussions and other conversations (exam rooms are very private). For pre-op, you’re separated by the other person by a thin curtain so you hear each other’s medical history.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas.
My insurance covered all of the testing we needed prior to IVF. IVF cycle was around $9,000, excluding medications. Effortless IVF is much more cost effective, but I did not meet criteria for that.
Describe Kathleen Doody's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CARE Fertility Texas.
For me, she recommended single embryo transfer. She believes the risks to multiple outweigh any potential benefit.

The doctor thought my estradiol levels were too high and wanted to cancel my cycle. After I informed her I was taking the Estrace, we proceeded with cycle.
Dr. Doody bedside manner was rather cold. I tried my best to have grace for her but my husband was not impressed...spoke very quickly with what seemed to be in compassion. She’s very blunt so if you don’t care about warm and fuzzy you might like her...My tubes were blocked so the plan was to open them up and try that and if that didn’t work pursue IVF. Once in surgery one tube was opened and another was removed. After the surgery I was hoping to get pregnant naturally but nothing happened. I didn’t feel like pursuing IVF with Care Fertility so my husband and I took a 3 year break.
I transferred to another clinic and I need my lab results to be sent over and they [staff at CARE Fertility] were REALLY rude over the phone about using different method besides fax because theirs wasn’t working...The nursing staff was easy-going and kind. I think the reason we feel like it wasn’t the best experience is because when [Dr. Doody] explained what would happen in the surgery and then when I came out it was two different things. It just threw us off and we hadn’t developed enough of a relationship to trust her. So it felt weird. I just wish we understood more and didn’t feel like it was all about the money.

I transferred to another clinic and I need my lab results to be sent over and they were REALLY rude over the phone about using different method besides fax because theirs wasn’t working. Poor customer service is not my fav especially for something so sensitive. When families have to endure this journey the last thing they want to deal with is sassy people on the phone.
She [Dr Kathleen Doody] is a mom and she herself had to overcome some hurdles to conceive her son. I trusted her and she communicated clearly. When we lost our full term daughter at 38+5 weeks, she really shined as a care provider, and multiple times contacted me with out prompting to check on me and see how I was doing. She genuinely cared.
Dr. Doody [at CARE Fertility] always treated me like a person. She is intelligent, articulate, and has a good bed side manner...Nikki was very compassionate. She was there with me through so many of my failed cycles and then both of my successful cycles...Scheduling is easy and staff always contacts back promptly. The frequency of visits sucks, but so does infertility and it is just par for the course. They always do med training and are thorough with running tests.
How was your experience with Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
Dr. Kathy is thorough and educated me about my diagnosis. She guided me through my treatment plan and explained why each step was necessary and gave me "if I were you" guidance as to my options and treatment plan. I always felt comfortable with her and found her to be compassionate. She is a mom and she herself had to overcome some hurdles to conceive her son. I trusted her and she communicated clearly. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
I wasted my time with two other fertility doctors before Dr. Kathy. I saw them because of commercials on the radio I heard, or because a peer informed they had success with them. I never really felt comfortable with either of them, but I stayed because I was hopeful and because i was so new to the journey, i was uneducated. My one piece of advice is see Dr. Kathy first! You will feel comfortable and be in good hands.

We lost our daughter full-term due to a cord accident 3 days before her birth (btw, you need stillborn as an option on your outcome list, I was forced to pick "live-birth singleton.") after 4 ivf rounds (2 with Dr. Doody) and 3 fet's. She called me and supported me and went above and beyond to connect me with a support system. She is ethical and wonderful. She cares about the "whole person" not just your medical information.
Describe the protocols Kathleen Doody used in your cycles at CARE Fertility Texas and their degree of success.
I went through so many cycles i dont remember the specifics. I have been trying to have a baby for 5 years. I took Menopur, Progesterone in Oil, trigger shots of Ovidrel, Prednisone, i think Fermera. And many more. Dr, Kathy's clinic gives you a very clear calendar indicating each thing you are supposed to take and when and it is fairly easy to follow. If you get tripped up on the calendar, I always call and nurse helps me to answer my question.
Describe your experience with your nurse at CARE Fertility Texas. (Assigned nurse: Nikki)
Nikki was very compassionate. She was there with me through so many of my failed cycles and then both of my successful cycles. After my daughter was stillborn, I came to do my final FET and Nikki hugged me and comforted me as I cried about burying my baby. The staff genuinely care and are like family. They are always behind you rooting for your success.
Describe your experience with CARE Fertility Texas.
Scheduling is easy and staff always contacts back promptly. The frequency of visits sucks, but so does infertility and it is just par for the course. They always do med training and are thorough with running tests.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at CARE Fertility Texas.
Monitoring appts where just like scheduling any other appointment. It was very normal and you just scheduled it before you left each appointment.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas.
I spent $20,000 on a MaxCare plan where I have multiple cycles of IVF in a 365 day period. Medications were extra, all appts. covered. i had a surgery to remove fibroids and endometriosis, it was covered by insurance.
She [Dr. Kathleen Doody] and her team provided me with the care that I needed...She was caring and very compassionate for my first consultation, the second consultation i did not know what to except with my results but she explained every details. The last visit was gut wrenching because i didn’t have any mature follicles and the tech after giving her the results, she had to come and check for herself that there was none. I believe she was hoping to have at least one follicles that i can use.
The location [of CARE Fertility] is in a secluded environment, it makes it feel like you have reach your home because it’s private. The staff are very friendly and helpful ready to answer all questions. The place is clean, well maintained and kept... felt like I wasn’t fighting infertility alone but with the whole team. Everyone was compassionate and caring. I felt everyone was rooting for me to get at least get one egg to go with.

Truthfully, Dr Doody is not necessarily the warm and fuzzy type initially, so if that is the experience you require during your fertility journey she may not be the best fit. She communicates in a very medical or scientific way, but she is sharp as a tack. I appreciate her candidness and while she does show compassion for the process - it's just not over the top. My wife and I have full faith in her abilities.
Strengths: Easy to schedule appts, billing group easy enough for the most part, clean premises, easy parking, great staff [CARE Fertility], close to Dallas. Weaknesses: One individual in billing is not as sharp as the rest of the group... ... eSet is typical protocol for the practice, however given my age they transferred 2 embryos on each attempt. Indicated they would never transfer more than two. I am happy with their protocol.

Describe Kathleen Doody's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at CARE Fertility Texas.
eSet is typical protocol for the practice, however given my age they transferred 2 embryos on each attempt. Indicated they would never transfer more than two. I am happy with their protocol.
Dr. Kathy [Doody] will not do multiple embryo transfers unless you are over 35 and she deems it necessary. We didn’t get the choice...is great at what she does and is very professional. She bases her work on scientific evidence. She can be very direct at times but when it mattered she was very compassionate. She does care about your success...I was a part of an investigational drug so not everything was Dr. Kathy’s choice. I started out on birth control for ten days and then Lupron 10ml for the rest of the cycle. I was on 3 vials of menopur for 10 days before pulling the trigger. My dosage never changed because my blood work continued to show everything was progressing appropriately.
The clinical trial cost $2500 [at CARE Fertility]. The FET will be about the same...The clinic is great. You can tell they are very busy but they care. The front office ladies are sweet. The surgery team are also great. The only weakness would be the wait at times. It is understandable and they are apologetic about it...The office staff were warm and remembered who I was...My nurse coordinator was great! So were the other nurses I saw every visit to get blood drawn.

She was very frank like "ok your husband doesn't produce sperm so here is how we're going to make a baby with a donor." I am very emotional and it was nice to have a dr just be matter of fact about things... Dr. Doody will listen to you and then come up with a plan of action!
They [the nursing staff] were very on top of things! I hardly waited for blood drawings or even to get back to my room.
How was your experience with Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
Dr. Doody is a great infertility dr! Some don't like her bedside manner but she was great with me. She is very straight forward about the situation and I would say she doesn't invest herself emotionally BUT I would much rather have a dr tell me "this is how we're going to make a baby" instead of "I'm so sorry ya'll are going through this. Let's all cry for a few minutes."
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
The first consultation is the scariest! She isn't scary but sitting there talking about why you can't get pregnant is scary. It's ok to cry! I did. Dr. Doody will listen to you and then come up with a plan of action!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?
Each nurse was great and Dr. Doody always took the time with me to go over what was happening next. She let me record every ultrasound I had so my husband could see the baby too. She was very frank like "ok your husband doesn't produce sperm so here is how we're going to make a baby with a donor." I am very emotional and it was nice to have a dr just be matter of fact about things.

I loved every about Dr. Doody. My favorite was her use of studies to educate and make valid points about our treatment and diagnosis. Everytime I saw her we left with a good understanding of what was to happen next ... She spoke to us with compassion and was direct and informative ... Dr. Doody only transfers one embryo. We did want to do two, but the risks were explained ... Be prepared with your questions before going to an appointment.
Scheduling was easy and efficient, the clinic [CARE Fertility] is flexible. Every person I encountered was friendly. I had no issues with the clinic. For almost all of the appoints I was taken back and seen on time or within a few minutes of my appt time ... Every single person was pleasant and informative. I had a lot of questions that the nurses always referred me to the Dr for answers that they didn’t know, which I respected.

We are currently in the IVf process with Dr. Doody. We have seen her, her husband and Dr. Nackey (I think that’s the spelling) in our visits. I have no complaints so far about the care we have received with them. All of their staff is great and are always willing to help you with any thing you need.... I took menopur injections for about 10 days along with ganirelix acetate the last few days leading up to our egg retrieval. They retrieved 22 mature eggs. We did effortless ivf. So all eggs and sperm sample was place inside an Invocell device and placed back in me for 5 days.
The clinic [CARE Fertility] is great. I love that they don’t allow children there in the waiting room. Not low ovarian reserve. Yielded very low number of viable eggs.
