Very cold, impatient doctor [Dr. Doody] that seems to be desensitized to her work. Her blunt cold responses, harping on my age...Did lots of testing which came in handy later ugh other specialists. Her blunt cold responses, harping on my age then ultimately convincing the other female doctor to but don’t surgery made me cry, want to give up and mist definitely feel like tons of gas traveling and paying money to her was wasted. If you are over 35 go somewhere else where they won’t make you feel like a grandma trying to conceive. Her last words to me were so cold and uncaring it felt like when you see the mean doc on tv come out and say “sorry she’s going to die soon” and walk off. Simply cold!! Thank goodness others encouraged me to seek a second opinion and I did and got the surgery done with none of the toxic ness Dr. K. Doody served!

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?

If you are older- go somewhere else If you are struggling with fibroids- go somewhere else If you are liking for gentle compassion and understanding go somewhere else! When she gave me her dooms day news of having “consulted” with the doctor I had just paid to not do my surgery and I got another opinion who couldn’t understand why she would say or do that I learned that there are compassionate Doctors out there who care and will handle with care. Keep searching there is better out there!

Every session felt rushed despite us driving two hours to see her. Her demeanor was cold and lacking compassion which I now know from others is not a uncommon thing. I had to rush and interject to get cold textbook answers to my questions sometimes leading to tears over her blunt responses

I was advised to find a specialist in open Myomectomy and she was in network so we went with it. Did lots of testing which came in handy later ugh other specialists. She says her eyesight is not good to do the surgeries and longer so the other female doctor under her was to do it. Right before having my surgery my last visit with her she coldly told me that her clinic would not be doing the surgery due to not having enough tissue to work with and an enlarged uterus and I just needed to take it out. It was Covid time so we had to wait outside so I can’t say much. Bathrooms were relatively clean and equipment felt/looked clean so it felt sanitized. Every now and then I would encounter a grumpy don’t care what you are saying front person or nurse but they were very nice and accommodating and patient for the most part

Can you imagine how hard that was finally reaching surgery time to be told no and her why in the coldest fashion. I have told everyone I can’t imagine how she would make someone feel who has never had kids! It’s a way to say everything correctly

She had a rushed bedside manner, and at times felt like she needed to quickly make a presence in my appointment and then move on. However, during the initial consultation, she spent more time listening and trying to understand our infertility journey. She also recommended testing that no other doctor or specialist I had seen before had recommended, which was nice to be able to dig deeper into testing.

They are cutting edge on research and new connections of things that might cause infertility and are willing to test for those things. However, their primary recommendation for treatment is either IUI or IVF, not looking for a holistic root cause approach if their initial testing showed unexplained infertility. Another benefit of this clinic is they are always doing some type of IVF trial or other test trials/study, so if you qualify that can help greatly reduce the cost to treatments and different blood tests.

She can be rushed at times with her appointments, especially any visit after the initial consultation. And she cussed a little bit around us, which was slightly uncomfortable because my husband and I told her we both work at a church and my husband is a pastor, so it caught us off guard a bit. But overall we appreciated how she was open to testing for new things that were cutting edge of research, and she seems very knowledgeable and I trust her to suggest the best path for us to take.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kathleen Doody at CARE Fertility Texas?

Ask as many questions as you can think of during the initial consultation, and try to not move on from her office until you get all of your questions answered, even if she wants to move onto an exam. Because once you leave her office, you don’t go back during the consult appt, she will be wrapping up the appt after an exam.

Most of them were kind and friendly, but I only interacted with 2-3 of them, and I can’t remember their names. However, one person who worked for another doctor at this clinic, but helped out with one of my procedures, was very curt and forceful, and seemed mad during my whole appt.

On one-on-one meetings with Dr. Kathy she is very compassionate and answers all your questions. She is very knowledgeable and takes her time with patients. When you are going through patients, the clinic is very busy and you are shuffled around to different rooms and different nurses quite a bit.... Laparoscopic surgery to investigate a final blockage. Clomid IUI based on irregular cycles, but unexplained fertility. We did 3 rounds of Clomid/IUI.

The cutting edge treatments and being on the forefront of clinical research would be a strength of this clinic [CARE Fertility]. The large number of patients making you sometimes feel like a number would be a negative....The nurses are all exceptionally kind people. Even though you may see a different nurse during times of a cycle based on the day you’re at the clinic, they all get to know you over time and are quite friendly. This puts you at ease. Some of the nurses seem disorganized at times, but I think that is a result of the large patient load.

When speaking with Dr. Kathy you can tell she is an incredibly intelligent and knowledgeable doctor. She is also someone that has the rare gift of being able to explain complicated medical procedures or terms in a manner that a layperson can understand. She is always up to date on the latest technologies and procedures. She always always had a hopeful message with her delivery and was accessible to me for appointments and consultations when I wanted to discuss a test result or a change in treatment.

Be organized and ask questions. The clinic is very busy and you have to be your own advocate. Also be patient and remain hopeful.

My criticism is she has so many patients and when we would see her it was apparent that she had only reviewed our file five minutes before we arrived....We have done three IUI treatments including taking Clomid. We did testing for the first 3 months. All the blood work, HSG, Hysteroscopy, semen analysis, the works. It was discovered I had a cyst on an ovary and it had to be removed. We had it removed and she said we could try naturally for a few months, as it was large and could have been disrupting something in my uterus. She said to call when we were ready for IUI. When we began doing IUI, we did 3 cycles back to back, the exact same way each time. 5 days of clomid. Call when you get a positive ovulation test and go in the same day for insemination. None of them worked. After the 3rd one, she said the chances of it working were slim to none at this point and said we needed IVF. We signed up for a trial and got the call a few months later for screening. I missed qualifying by .01%, which the nurse felt the need to tell me. My husband had a DNA analysis of his sperm, which was normal. So basically I’ve been told now I need to just call them when I’m ready for IVF, which we can’t afford and have no insurance coverage for.

She [Dr. Kathleen Doody] wanted me to use Clomid and IUI. Her rationale is that I am not ovulating and that clomid makes you ovulate but makes it hard for sperm to make it to the egg. She said that she takes care of that by doing an IUI at the same time. She wanted to me to take clomid with a trigger shot and then use IUI in my first cycle. She also said that I needed to remain on birth control when I wasn’t in a treatment cycle...

I spent about $1,000 just on testing [at CARE Fertility]...They don’t communicate results in the most compassionate way. They just tell you matter of fact, and don’t really explain what results mean if you don’t ask the right questions. When I got my HSG and scoping done, they never actually told me what they found or saw, they just said that it was time to go to IUI...They [the nurses] were very informative and treated me like a person the whole time. She was very detailed about the information of my PCOS diagnosis and how she wanted to treat me. My main complaint is that she is unwilling to take small steps in order to help me get pregnant, she wanted to jump straight to expensive treatments because it’s how they operate there. From what I understood, her way is more successful more often, but financial is extremely expensive.

when beginning the IVF process, my husband and I were under the understanding we were doing Effortless IVF because it’s all we had talked about with her [Dr. Kathleen Doody]. Side note: she’s a huge proponent of Effortless. It wasn’t until we saw the financial consultant at the end of our appointment that we learned we were not good candidates for it. It was frustrating that she did not inform us of this when we were in consult with her. My husband does not think she has a warm bedside manner, and this bothers him. I prefer my doctors to be direct, so I appreciate her candidness. She is very straightforward when she is communicating. She seems to really know what she’s doing, which is why I stayed with her.

It seems they [nurses at CARE Fertility] aren’t very good at updating charts so everyone knows what is happening...Communication is lacking sometimes...day of egg retrieval, I was told to start Estrace day 1 of my cycle. At my first appointment to begin FET cycle, the nurse did not know I had started taking it and was confused that I had. She then did not inform the doctor that I was taking it. The doctor thought my estradiol levels were too high and wanted to cancel my cycle. After I informed her I was taking the Estrace, we proceeded with cycle.

Before seeing Dr. Doody, I had 7 unsuccessful IUIs at another clinic. She decided we needed to live straight to IVF, which I appreciated because I was over IUIs. I have an endometrioma on each ovary, but there has been no intervention for these. The plan was for a fresh transfer. I started with 20 units of Lupron for 8 days. Then 10 units of Lupron, 2 vials of Menopur, and 75 units of Gonal-f for 9 days. I started my period in the middle of this so we decided to do a FET but planned to proceed with retrieval. Retrieval resulted in 3 eggs, one fertilized, and one frozen.

The nurses have been great. They take their time and listen to my concerns. They were especially great on the day of egg retrieval. My only complaint is lack of communication. For example, post-op nurse told me to start Estrace on first day of my cycle. I went in for first appointment to prepare for FET and that nurse didn’t know I was on the medication and was confused about why I had already started. Doctor called later that day to cancel my FET cycle because my estradiol levels were too high. She didn’t know I had already started the medication either. The clinic is clean and in a convenient location. They have an in house lab, so there’s no need for them to send your bloodwork somewhere for results. Egg retrieval is also done in the same office. The front staff is courteous. There isn’t a ton of privacy. The consult “rooms” are cubicles, so you can see and hear financial discussions and other conversations (exam rooms are very private). For pre-op, you’re separated by the other person by a thin curtain so you hear each other’s medical history.

My insurance covered all of the testing we needed prior to IVF. IVF cycle was around $9,000, excluding medications. Effortless IVF is much more cost effective, but I did not meet criteria for that.

At my first appointment to begin FET cycle, the nurse did not know I had started taking it and was confused that I had. She then did not inform the doctor that I was taking it. The doctor thought my estradiol levels were too high and wanted to cancel my cycle. After I informed her I was taking the Estrace, we proceeded with cycle.

I wasted my time with two other fertility doctors before Dr. Kathy. I saw them because of commercials on the radio I heard, or because a peer informed they had success with them. I never really felt comfortable with either of them, but I stayed because I was hopeful and because i was so new to the journey, i was uneducated. My one piece of advice is see Dr. Kathy first! You will feel comfortable and be in good hands.

Dr. Doody always treated me like a person. She is intelligent, articulate, and has a good bed side manner. We lost our daughter full-term due to a cord accident 3 days before her birth (btw, you need stillborn as an option on your outcome list, I was forced to pick "live-birth singleton.") after 4 ivf rounds (2 with Dr. Doody) and 3 fet's. She called me and supported me and went above and beyond to connect me with a support system. She is ethical and wonderful. She cares about the "whole person" not just your medical information.

I went through so many cycles i dont remember the specifics. I have been trying to have a baby for 5 years. I took Menopur, Progesterone in Oil, trigger shots of Ovidrel, Prednisone, i think Fermera. And many more. Dr, Kathy's clinic gives you a very clear calendar indicating each thing you are supposed to take and when and it is fairly easy to follow. If you get tripped up on the calendar, I always call and nurse helps me to answer my question.

Nikki was very compassionate. She was there with me through so many of my failed cycles and then both of my successful cycles. After my daughter was stillborn, I came to do my final FET and Nikki hugged me and comforted me as I cried about burying my baby. The staff genuinely care and are like family. They are always behind you rooting for your success.

Truthfully, Dr Doody is not necessarily the warm and fuzzy type initially, so if that is the experience you require during your fertility journey she may not be the best fit. She communicates in a very medical or scientific way, but she is sharp as a tack. I appreciate her candidness and while she does show compassion for the process - it's just not over the top. My wife and I have full faith in her abilities.

Strengths: Easy to schedule appts, billing group easy enough for the most part, clean premises, easy parking, great staff [CARE Fertility], close to Dallas. Weaknesses: One individual in billing is not as sharp as the rest of the group... ... eSet is typical protocol for the practice, however given my age they transferred 2 embryos on each attempt. I took menopur injections for about 10 days along with ganirelix acetate the last few days leading up to our egg retrieval. They retrieved 22 mature eggs. We did effortless ivf. So all eggs and sperm sample was place inside an Invocell device and placed back in me for 5 days. They retrieved the device and froze 12 5 day embryos. We will do our transfer in less than a week

[Dr. Doody] Did not show up for egg retrieval or embryo transfer while having assured us she would be there. Only seeing her a couple of times. Not explaining the process well at all. Discouraged genetic testing.... Only spent time with us during initial consultation.... Other doctor performed retrieval and transfer without notifying us... [Protocols] IVF/ICSI antagonist. Not low ovarian reserve. Yielded very low number of viable eggs.

[CARE Fertility is] a well known clinic in the area but it feel way below expectations given the very negative experience with the doctor and staff. It's run as simply a business with limited one on one interaction.... Thawed wrong embryo during transfer. Other doctor performed retrieval and transfer without notifying us.... She [Dr. Doody] is very popular but i feel like it’s all about money. After my cycles failed she couldn’t give me a good reason why. I constantly researched myself and found out more from the internet than her office. I feel like i wasted money and time at this clinic!...I did effortless ivf where i was menopur for i think almost 10 days maybe less. I was told i would most likely have to be on meds a little longer to produce more eggs...

[CARE Fertility is a] big clean office and they are the only clinic in Dallas offering a cheaper procedure effortless ivf invocell...I spent 4900 for invocell not including meds that was 2000...I just wasn’t educated like i was suppose to...[nurses were] Not very helpful didn’t provide a lot info....I constantly researched myself and found out more from the internet than her office. I feel like i wasted money and time at this clinic!

Didn’t really get a lot of info from dr i was lost through the whole process. Never knew anything until after 2 failed ivf

I spent 4900 for invocell not including meds that was 2000 Then i got offered a free trial

[Dr. Doody] is very strict to only transfer one embryo, for the safety of Mom, and baby/babies...Her bedside manner was amazing, she explained everything thoroughly, and never let us leave with any questions!..We truly enjoyed the whole process while under her care...They made us feel like family, explained every step of the way in terms we could easily follow and understand

We didn’t experience anything negative. Everyone was always on time, professional, yet family like! They didn’t treat us like “patients “. That’s what we loved the most...they take care credit, and offer payment plans as well...They made us feel like family, explained every step of the way in terms we could easily follow and understand.
