What ever I needed he took the time out to do it...he knows exactly what he is doing...was put on menopur and centroids for a couple weeks after stopping birth control then I was also put on gonal around the second week the after taking the shots after a couple weeks I was put on an antibiotic before egg retrieval now I’m just waiting to start estrodiol then have the transfer
The whole staff [at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine] is great.... they treat their patients with respect they answer all your questions they are very quick to call back...they say their patients comes first. I have seen two other 4 other Doctors besides Dr. Winslow because me having to go in on weekends so the Doctors rotate and the all are so nice...Very clean and fast never waited on the waiting room over 15 minutes...

How was your experience with Kevin Winslow at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine?
Dr. Winslow is obviously smart and trusted in his field. But details were not as readily given and I found myself doing lots of research on my own. I'm a confident, educated person but occasionally found myself feeling apprehensive to ask questions because I felt like a bother. Dr. Winslow seemed to push for IVF immediately and reluctantly did two IUIs at our request. There was preliminary testing for my husband and I, that's it. Only after switching doctors did we get more information into me possibly having PCOS combined with male factor infertility.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kevin Winslow at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine?
The office staff are nice and Dr. Winslow is a no nonsense kind of guy. I love information and being straight to the point, but this is a very personal issue and a little more compassion would have been greatly appreciated.

Dr. Winslow was very helpful and the information he provided and his demeanor helped my husband and me to feel better throughout this process. He was also very honest and set realistic expectations with us which we appreciated very much...While Dr. Winslow is very thorough, sometimes it felt like the appointment went by fast...We are dealing with MFI. Dr. Winslow recommended we try 2-3 cycles of IUI with Femara, then move on to IVF with ICSI if these were not successful.
They [Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine] have always been very close to the actual appointment time when you are called back, not long waiting times. Parking is great with the new garage at the Baptist downtown location. All of their records flow between NE FL OBGYN if you use them, so that is nice as well. The doctors do rotate days so you might see different doctors on different days but the two I have worked with so far (Dr. Winslow and Dr. Ern) are both wonderful.

Dr. Winslow was very proactive with care regarding my egg retrieval. He was also very compassionate towards the next step but very clear with our action plan. We would 100% go see Dr. Winslow again if we are able to have another child through surrogacy....Dr. Winslow leaned towards SET and my husband and I along with our surrogate were comfortable with transferring two embryos. He agreed with our decision.
Weaknesses would be reviewing medication quantity before leaving. Strengths are quickly responding when we needed something or had questions. They [Florida Inst for Repro Med] also always took a great approach when something was not working.... Amy was amazing through every step. She gave me her cell phone number to contact her if it was after hours and was helpful in every way we needed her!

I spoke with Dr. Winslow once on the phone and saw him on the day of the transfer. He was knowledgeable and had a good recommendation for my care. I was happy with my experience there. He was very willing to work with me remotely and as a single parent...He was not incredibly warm when I met him in person, but when I went into his office to talk about my embryos his office was covered from wall to wall with pictures of babies on Christmas cards (it was early Jan. when I went) from his patients. I teared up!
They [FL Ins Repro Med] are open to serving all patients. Their perspective on embryo donation is not rooted in religious values. They were easy to work with, even from 1,500 miles away....I worked remotely with Emma for several months and saw two other nurses for my transfer - they were all great. Emma is sweet and tolerant of as many questions as you can throw her way!...it was approximately $7,000 plus travel for the donor embryo transfer

Dr Winslow isn't the warmest person. He often looked directly at my chart instead of at me. This was not off putting to me as I am an introvert by nature with a severe case of White Coat Syndrome. There was no BSing in the exam room. He got in there, he did what he needed to do and then he left but I never felt like he was rushed or annoyed with my questions. He was patient and kind and explanatory...
[FL Ins Repro Med] Strength: The doctors and nurses never made me feel like a science experiment. I was a patient with a health issue. Weakness: The procedure room was very small and my husband wasn't allowed in. It's very hard to lay there alone and I won't have loved to have him with me...The nursing staff at FIRM is excellent! They were efficient but attentive and they cared about my treatment and me. They didn't just ask how I was doing, they asked how I was feeling, how my emotions were holding up. They weren't just checking a box, they actually wanted to know.

It took me a bit to get used to his matter of fact type of,personality, but the longer i was there he [Dr. Winslow] loosened up around is and showed us compassion, but made sure to be clear in statements. He was delicate when we had our miscatriage and clear on all of our treatments. Gave us all of,our options then said why he would recommend one thing over another, but still left it up to us
Every staff member [Florida Inst for Repro Med] was personable, treated you well, spoke to you as person who matters and going through something tough.... The staff is Easy to get into contact with them and they are prompt with returning calls. They are Open weekends for transfers which is very convenient when, you don't get much leeway with cycles. The staff is always nice and welcoming. Going there for 4 years I,never had a bad experience

Describe Kevin Winslow's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine.
I have a genetic issue that makes multiples very dangerous for them and me. So 1 was recommended, but he recommends one for most bc of the risks of a,multiples pregnancy

Dr. Winslow has treated me for endometriosis and septate uterus. I have had 2 surgeries under his care. 1 egg retrieval with 3 rounds of IVF. 2 chemical pregnancies were produced and 1 failed transfer. Newest protocol is donor eggs from my partner. 1st IVF transfer completed and pending results.... Dr. Winslow is extremely experienced and well known in the infertility community. We will confident and comfortable under his care. He does not show compassion well. Dr. Winslow is also extremely busy so at times we have felt rushed.
Office [FL Institute for Reproductive Med-Jacksonville] is very well organized and nursing team is great! I’ve seen the other doctors on the weekend and all doctors are extremely friendly. When you call the office, you either speak to someone directly or one of the nurses call back within a few hours.... We pay 100% out of pocket. IVF treatment was less than 13k... Absolutely love the FIRM & Dr. Winslow. He was always encouraging when we didn't get the best news. Anytime I didn't respond as well as he like he would adjust my treatment perfectly. I never had a bad experience at the Jacksonville location. Also loved they had several locations- I live in GA and would have to travel out of state to see him. The office always made it as convenient as it could be for us. (They even came in on Christmas Day for our IUI)

He [Dr. Kevin Winslow] is smart, efficient and an excellent proceduralist. I’ve had transfers by 3 different doctors and he was by far the easiest and best experience I had. I highly recommend him. As a fellow physician he has always worked with me to help prevent interference with my clinic. I can’t thank him enough...I have no Fallopian tubes and only one ovary so I am not an ideal candidate for retrieval. However Dr Winslow always made a tailored treatment plan for me. He took over my care after my previous physician within the practice left the state and I couldn’t be happier
[Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine is] Very personalized. Doesn’t batch and is super individualized. Have early mornings available. You always have access to a nurse or doctor and it’s very good continuity of care. No weaknesses this place is wonderful...[Dr. Winslow] is smart, efficient and an excellent proceduralist. Be prepared for his cut and dried manner, if you prefer that type of personality (as I do) then he [Dr. Kevin Winslow] is the perfect doctor for you!...only transfer one embryo if PGS tested, otherwise will transfer two of you choose...He is very knowledgeable and gets right to the point. He has a dry sense of humor and candid nature that worked really well for my husband and I. I trust his judgement and expertise. I like how he tells me the truth and is upfront about it, even if it’s not the best news that I want to hear; he has never given us false hope but has provided us with options that were right for us.
Everyone [at FIRM] is helpful and friendly; they work with you on scheduling. Facilities are nice and provide multiple locations. I am pleased overall with the clinic and all employees and staff in my visits. I really like the FIRM and believe they are one of the best available in my area...They only transfer one embryo if PGS tested, otherwise will transfer two of you choose...He [Dr. Winslow] was very clear and upfront with us.

He [Dr. Kevin Winslow] called personally with my husband’s semen analysis results, which I really appreciated! He was always courteous to us and understanding. When we found out I had a blocked tube, he was optimistic and reminded me that we only needed one to get pregnant!... He was very kind to my husband and me. He treated us with respect at each visit and seemed genuinely happy when we conceived!
I got pregnant after my tube test. When I called and told the receptionist [at FIRM-Jacksonville] I had a positive pregnancy test, she seemed genuinely shocked / excited for us! :) We also love that you can see Dr. Winslow at different locations, as well.... He has my husband do a semen analysis first, and told him to start taking CoQ10 once he got the results back. He also had me get my tubes checked, where we learned one may be blocked. I had to stop taking Clomid the month of the tube test.

dr winslow got straight to the point which i appreciated...strengths - he is very knowledgable. i asked a lot of questions and he was able to effectively communicate answers in a way i could understand (im not a dr). he is respectful of your time, i never waited long to see him. he is very personable, he has responded to every christmas card ive sent via a letter...he isnt warm & fuzzy in person and is tactfully blunt; however, he knows what he's doing.
they [nurses at FIRM] are AMAZING. they become your friend. so compassionate and caring. they are organized and return phone calls timely. if you have any concerns, they will get you in to see doctor...ivf was $8500 before meds...no weaknesses, this office is organized and on the ball...the nurses were more compassionate than other clinics.

Dr. WINSLOW is a very terse communicator. He has a lot of knowledge and his years of practice seem to be a draw to him, but he always seems in a rush. I chose to see him because within FIRM he was at least always on time and I had to go to my appointments while working... He is quick, but only go to him if you are experienced and know what you need to know. He doesn't spend a lot of time explaining anything.
[FL Institute for Reprodcutive Medicine is] Clean office, great space to wait, and the staff often use all the space to protect your privacy and feelings when things get heavy. A weakness is how they stack the schedule, there is sometimes up to a 2 hour wait.... There have been a couple times where things got disorganized and I didn't get calls I was expecting or the wrong kind of appointment was made.

He [Dr. Kevin Winslow] was condescending, arrogant and rude. He lied to me about test result- and told me he couldn’t help me. He is the founder of this clinic, and while I’m grateful for FIRM, I would never step another foot inside that office if he was the only Dr available to be seen...
The clinic [FIRM] is warm and comfortable. The downtown location has big comfy couches. The south side location is smaller as most satellite clinics are. The offices generally run on time, but sometimes I’ve experienced much longer wait times that normal- but I think that is to be expected during the unpredictable fertility treatment process...[the nurses are] Always kind, warm, encouraging & empathetic.

Dr Winslow is very straight to the point and does not set unrealistic expectations. He has always been up front with us and listened to us and answered all our questions. [Dr. Winslow] was great at getting in and out and not making you wait around but I wish there would have been more explanations to certain procedures or follicle scans...Letrozole three tablets and I grew at least three eggs each cycle but I just don’t find they fully matured before we triggered ovulation. We had to use hcg to trigger my ovulation...He was quick to recommend ivf but after our history it made sense
My [FIRM] nurse is amazing always eases the anxiety is like my best friend and support going in there...They’re quick to jump to ivf but that’s because they’ve had so many amazing outcomes with it. They treat you like family and really do care about you. They’re always reassuring and cautious on sensitive subjects but blunt when need be. They helped me through my miscarriage and d and c and i was relieved to have them there.
How was your experience with Kevin Winslow at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine?
He was quick to recommend ivf but after our history it made sense. However it is a struggle being in the military with no other source of money and tricare doesn’t cover anything for ivf. I wish and pray we could because we’ve been told by several doctors were amazing candidates for it and doctor Winslow helped ease our minds about it. He did let us continue a couple more cycles of letrozole before moving on but we’re in a waiting period now.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kevin Winslow at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine?
Advocate for what you want he listens

We’ve paid up to a thousand dollars just to do an iui because insurance wouldn’t cover it. Our ivf will only cost 8000 but we just don’t have that extra money

Sometimes when I would ask questions he seemed in a hurry or just like it may have been a stupid question. ... Dr. Winslow does not like fresh so we did not get that option. None of my four embryos made it to frozen transfer so now we just wonder what if had we been given the chance at fresh. ... I did 300 Gonal-F mixed with 2 vials of Menopur and I did those 11 days in my hip at night I did my centride 8 days in my stomach (in the mornings) On the 12th day is when I did my trigger (HCG)
I do have to say that there never was a long wait [at Florida Institute for Repro Med] and I never was actually there long (which I guess could be good or bad). If I ever had to call my nurse and it went to voice mail she was very prompt at getting back to me. ... We just had to call and get the results from my husbands sample. And they never told me what my FSH was nor did they ever explain what my bloodwork was for each time I went.
How was your experience with Kevin Winslow at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine?
The doctor who did my egg retrieval told my husband that I would be a great candidate for fresh transfer but Dr. Winslow does not like fresh so we did not get that option. None of my four embryos made it to frozen transfer so now we just wonder what if had we been given the chance at fresh.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Kevin Winslow at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and find out more information. Do outside research!!!!

It was around $15,000 for the IVF and then around $5,000 for medication with an outside pharmacy.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Winslow was kind, courteous, and patient with all of questions. He was very thorough in explaining each step of the process and what to expect. He handles a large portion of the visits and calls personally to ensure there are no gaps in communication...Transfer [protocol]: estrace 3 pills twice daily, endometrin 2 inserts twice daily, and PIO 1cc every other morning.
The [FIRM] clinic is open 7-4. So great if you want to speak with someone early, but you need to keep that in mind if you need assistance later. The nurse you have to leave a message for, but they will always cal back the same day...[the nurses] are all competent and compassionate. They return calls the same day. Answering any and all questions.

Dr. Winslow was exceptional in everything, and very clear on all of his instructions, procedures, and possible outcomes while still conserving his medical ethics and never giving me a false hope, nor shattering my hopes of achieving what I had gone to him for. I have no other words than gratitude and complete satisfaction with his service and my experience as his patient. I would absolutely go see him again without any hesitation, as I greatly appreciate his unconditional help and his ability to help me in my journey.
I love the [Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine] clinic, I have no complaints about it overall. I personally really liked that it is in a hospital. The clinic is well organized and quite big, which I really liked as it reminded me of past doctor's of mine which I have had wonderful experiences with. The office staff was highly organized and efficient, all results, lab results and follow up calls are very prompt, and informative. Overall, an easy and positive experience.

Describe the protocols Kevin Winslow used in your cycles at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
During my specific journey, Dr. Winslow prescribed me with Letrozole 2.5 mg, and after finishing my medication I was given a trigger shot, Novarel. My spouse and I tried insemination once as well as did timed intercourse twice before becoming pregnant. I have a low egg count and my eggs do not mature on their own, making it difficult for them to be fertilized by the sperm. After performing this procedure 3 times, we were lucky to achieve our dream and we are currently expecting a healthy baby.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Florida Institute for Reproductive Medicine.
The nursing staff was amazing, they were knowledgeable as well as their treatment was exceptional. They too showed great compassion, and were always very willing to assist me in any of my questions, and overall experience while in the office and on all of my phone calls.
