How was your experience with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
I have seen Dr. Craig for our initial consultation for IVF, for an HSG follow up, and I have surgery scheduled with her as the next steps in our treatment prior to starting IVF. Dr. Craig has been empathetic, extremely knowledgeable, prepared, and thorough each time I have seen her. I am impressed with her ability to treat her patients with a laser focus while explaining in detail the risks and benefits of each type of treatment. Having dealt with infertility for nearly four years, I have many questions about testing, treatment, recommendations, and outcomes, and she has been informed and helpful about each one. One of my favorite experiences with Dr. Craig was after we found out from my husband's urologist that he suspected a y-chromosome microdeletion and recommended we don't transfer any male embryos, which was a devastating thought for us. After that appointment, I saw Dr. Craig for an ultrasound and follow-up from my abnormal HSG, and she made time to discuss my fears about that during my ultrasound appointment, too. It was not only extremely reassuring to hear her expert opinion, but her optimism truly saved us from feeling lost and worrying about that possibility in the future. I love her heart for her patients and for cutting-edge research, too; as a patient, I know I'm in excellent hands when she discusses trials and medications that may help us achieve a pregnancy and may also offer us a financial or other benefit. She truly cares about her patients and is committed to each person in her clinic, and I am so grateful she is leading our care and treatment. I cannot recommend her enough.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Please call her office and make an appointment to see her–you won't regret it! She is one of the most incredible providers I have ever had the privilege to see, and I am truly excited to do IVF with her guiding my care. Dr. Craig honestly cares about her patients and wants the best for each one no matter the circumstances, and she is efficient, thorough, compassionate, and understanding. As a provider, she has married her love for medicine, research, and helping patients achieve their goals of growing their families with her optimistic, empathetic personality and incredible expertise. This makes for a warm, wonderful experience as a patient, even when you are dealing with something as complex, challenging, and heart-wrenching as infertility. If you are new to infertility and have a lot of questions about treatment options, or if you are looking for someone who will treat you as a friend and experience the highs and lows of infertility with you, Dr. Craig is the provider for you. She takes her time answering your questions, conducts a thorough workup prior to any treatment, and she adjusts her plan of treatment for you based on your desires and results. She is simply outstanding!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
From the moment I called Dr. Craig's office to set up my initial appointment, I was warmly regarded using my name, her staff were knowledgable and kind, and their follow-through with my questions and appointments is the best I have ever received. When I had my first consultation with Dr. Craig, I could have cried out of joy because she was familiar with our history, compassionately asked us about our goals and expectations, and truly listened to us the entire time we were together. Not only did we develop a plan of treatment and testing that we were excited about, but she has moved quickly and thoroughly to help us get to our goal of growing our family. When my husband was diagnosed with y-chromosome microdeletion and Dr. Craig's team found a polyp during my HSG, we were treated with empathy and encouragement when the team could tell we were discouraged by these setbacks. I cannot stress enough how kind, caring, and expertly educated Dr. Craig and her staff are, and we are looking forward to doing IVF with them knowing we are truly a team working together in every possible way.
Describe the protocols LaTasha Craig used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
I have seen Dr. Craig for our initial IVF consultation, an HSG follow-up ultrasound, labwork, and I am currently in the queue for a polypectomy surgery with her. In our IVF consultation, Dr. Craig reviewed our past treatments (IUI with Letrozole 2.5 mg for one cycle, IUI with Letrozole 5.0 mg and Ovidrel trigger shot x2 cycles, none of which resulted in pregnancies, all with a different provider) and discussed a variety of treatment options. We ultimately agreed on pursuing IVF with ICSI and a potential Menopur clinical trial, which we are in the process of pre-qualifying for. Dr. Craig ordered an AMH and TSH blood draw at our initial appointment and was pleased with my results. Her PA conducted my HSG and discovered a uterine polyp, which puts our treatment on hold until I have that surgically removed and heal. Dr. Craig did a follow-up ultrasound with me to confirm the polyp, determine the size and location, and discuss surgery with me, and this was at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic which halted all treatment. Dr. Craig has been monitoring me remotely and prescribed birth control (Pirmella which contains progesterone and estrogen) to keep the polyp from growing and prepare me for surgery in the next few weeks. Her recommendation is for us to pursue IVF with an ICSI protocol when we have completed our pre-treatment workups, which include FSH and Estradiol, a pap smear, and an ultrasound for me, and carrier screening if my husband and I wish to do so.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Wow, Dr. Craig's nursing staff is OUTSTANDING. From the first time I walked into the clinic, I was met with kindness and incredible expertise from every nurse I have seen. What blew me away was that each nurse I've seen–3 different nurses at this point in our treatment–remembered me, called me by name, and asked me how I was in our treatment process with detail (i.e., after my HSG that resulted in an abnormality, how I was feeling and not to be stressed about surgery). I have never experienced such incredible care in my entire life. Also worth noting: Dr. Craig has a team of research nurses who are knowledgeable about trials patients may qualify for, and the research nurse who is following up with us is prompt, kind, encouraging, and thorough about answering questions and pre-screening us for trials we might qualify for. Each nurse truly loves her work and cares about her patients, and each nurse goes the extra mile to make sure patients are comfortable in some otherwise humiliating or uncomfortable treatments and procedures. For example, prior to my HSG, my nurse walked me through every step of the process, made sure I knew what to expect, reassured me when I was anxious, and even waited to pull a warm sheet out of the dryer for me to cover up with while I was positioned for the procedure. Dr. Craig's team is next-level in the best possible way!
Describe your experience with OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Dr. Craig and her team have created an empathetic, efficient practice and I have benefited countless times from her thorough planning as a patient. Dr. Craig's front office staff coordinate appointments, leave messages for providers and get back to me in a prompt timeframe, and have never forgotten my treatment plan, name, whether I have paid my balances, or any detail of my experience as a patient. I'm astounded by how much they remember about me each time I come in, and they are consistently kind, which really means a lot when you get bad news or have painful procedures done. I have not experienced anything negative at all since becoming a patient of Dr. Craig's. My previous provider's clinic asked if I had ever been a patient and couldn't find my file when I asked for my records to be sent to Dr. Craig's office, which made me so sick. I did two consultations and three failed IUIs with that clinic and provider, and really thought they cared about the outcomes of my treatment and my care, but it was disheartening when they didn't even remember I was a patient. I have never, ever had an experience like that with Dr. Craig or her team. They even go as far as to double-check your insurance prior to each appointment and make the financial ramifications of infertility treatment as reasonable and easy to deal with as possible. I can't recommend them enough! If you are looking for a clinic who cares about every aspect of your care, Dr. Craig's team is the team for you!
Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
My cost of care with Dr. Craig has been extremely reasonable and I am thrilled by how much treatment will potentially cost. I have had a consultation, two ultrasounds, labwork (TSH and AMH), an HSG and follow-up consultation, and Dr. Craig's team has worked closely with my insurance to cover as much as they can. As we are working towards meeting our deductible, I have had to pay a portion of each procedure or appointment, and it has been under $500 at this stage (including labwork and follow-up for my husband). Dr. Craig said our IVF cycle costs $16,000 at her clinic, which is a dramatic improvement from the $25,000 we were quoted at another clinic. We know there will be other costs associated for our treatment including carrier testing ($380) and PGT (preimplantation genetic testing / screening) at a cost per embryo, which we will discuss when we get to that stage of our treatment. Dr. Craig knows exactly how much everything costs and weighs the benefits and risks of each treatment instead of blindly trying everything at the cost of the patient. We discussed IUIs with injectable medication and monitoring, and she said the risks were too high and the possibility for pregnancy was too low and removed that from our options rather than trying it and putting us into financial strain. I appreciate her perspective and ability to create the best, most accessible plan for her patients!
Describe LaTasha Craig's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Dr. Craig and I have discussed this in our initial consultation, and she feels strongly about transferring one embryo at a time to minimize the risks to baby and mom and also minimize the risk of multiple births. This was her expert opinion on fresh and frozen embryo transfers, and it's a big reason we feel great about pursuing treatment with her.
Dr. Craig excels at diagnosing, explaining the diagnosis and creating a treatment plan...up to date on all research and answers any and all questions. She may not be able to be there for each procedure, but there are multiple trusted physicians in the practice who step in when needed and communicate with her directly...always fully informed and involved of your specific case, regardless of scheduling conflicts.
[OU Physicians Reproductive Health] is very organized...It did take us about four months on the waiting list to get our first appointment...the front office can either answer your question or be able to leave a message for your nurse...[nurses] were fully prepared for our case. We left each appointment clearly understanding the next steps and schedule. The care they showed before and after egg retrieval surgery was outstanding.

Know what questions you would like to ask before your appointment and let her speak first (especially at an IVF consult). She may address your questions before you even ask.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr. Craig and the entire nursing staff are not only brilliant, but each of them genuinely care.
Describe the protocols LaTasha Craig used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
First four cycles: Letrozole only (ovulated, no pregnancy)
Next four cycles: Letrozole + HCG trigger + IUI (follicles each cycle, no pregnancy)
Ninth cycle: Chlomid + HCG trigger + IUI (follicles, no pregnancy)
IVF: Follistem, Menopur, Ganirelix, HCG trigger (30 eggs retrieved, 14 day 3, 11 day 5, 8 PGS tested, 5 normal embryos frozen)
Transfer cycle: Waiting to begin after pandemic restrictions lifted
Describe your experience with your nurse at OU Physicians Reproductive Health. (Assigned nurse: Ashley, Amber, Brianna, Connie)
Ashley, Amber, Brianna and Connie have worked with me the most. Each appointment they were fully prepared for our case. We left each appointment clearly understanding the next steps and schedule. The care they showed before and after egg retrieval surgery was outstanding.
Describe your experience with OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
The clinic is very organized. Once you are a patient, you can proceed with treatment as your doctor plans. It did take us about four months on the waiting list to get our first appointment, so begin that process as soon as you know you will need an RE. Be prepared with questions and notes any time you call so the front office can either answer your question or be able to leave a message for your nurse.
Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Costs are still ongoing. Insurance does not cover any infertility treatments. By the end of IVF cycle, we will have spent $10,000-15,000 at OURH.
Describe LaTasha Craig's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
We will do a single embryo transfer because we pursued PGS testing. Multiple is allowed if no testing is done.
I felt like Dr. Craig really cared about giving us the best outcome with the least amount of intervention...thoroughly explained all of our options including some we had not thought to ask about...completely honest with the costs associated with each option and did not push us to make a decision right then and there...recommended strategy was to do medicated IUI cycles with Donor Sperm. She told us this would be a reasonable place to start...
I felt like the clinic [OU Physicians Reproductive Health] was responsive and not over crowded. I know they are busy because it took us months to get a consult appointment but they seem to space out appointments enough that the waiting room doesn't feel too small...[nurse] is quick to return my calls and answer any questions...also quick in sending us resources in choosing a donor sperm bank.
How was your experience with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
She was very direct about our options, chances and the financial obligations associated with each option. She was not pushy and truly wanted us to have all of the information necessary to make an informed decision.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?

The recommended strategy was to do medicated IUI cycles with Donor Sperm. She told us this would be a reasonable place to start and didn't feel that elevated to IVF was necessary to begin treatment. She suggested that I may require a second HSG and potential surgery if we proceeded onto IVF and wanted to avoid such drastic measures until we exhausted the less invasive options.

Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
The initial consult was $32. The infectious disease test was $100 to the Oklahoma Blood Institute and I am still waiting on the clinic portion after insurance. I believe it will be around $60. We were told that 1 medicated IUI cycle would be around $120 in medication, no more than $350 for sperm prep, and the cost of our donor sperm.
Describe LaTasha Craig's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
We did not discuss the specifics of and embryo transfer since we focused on IUI procedures.
[Dr. LaTasha Craig] was warm and very direct. We started our first appointment in her office, which felt safer and less medical...rather than half naked in an exam room...We talked about my expectations, and what I have already been through. We set up a plan of action together from the get go and she let me know that if I had any hesitations to just let her know...my husbands sample was very abnormal with very little chance of conception without an IUI or IVF. At this point we chose to no longer pursue having a child because we could not afford to continue.
It does take a long time to get in for your first appointment, but once you are established they [OU Physicians Reproductive Health] are very easy to work with. It is also nice that they are pretty true to your appointment time...staff was very helpful any time I called for information, and Dr. Craig did part of our consultation in her office rather than half naked in an exam room...[nurses] were always polite, and greeted me in a friendly manner. When I had questions they seamed happy to help.

She first did an ultrasound to check and see if I had a healthy amount of eggs and follicles, which I did. I had already had a blood test that showed I was ovulating so she did not do that. She started me on clomid for my next cycle and also suggested that I get an HSG and my husband have his sample tested. She told me that if the clomid did not work in the first or second cycle that we could go ahead and start IUI, but only up to 6 cycles. The clomid did not work and my HSG was normal. However, my husbands sample was very abnormal with very little chance of conception without an IUI or IVF. At this point we chose to no longer pursue having a child because we could not afford to continue.

We have done 5 rounds of IUI. Each cycle has been similar - taking 5 mg Femara for cycle days 3-7. Ultrasound monitoring was done around cycle day 9 or 10. Triggered with Pregnyl when ultrasound showed follicles were ready and had IUI performed 36 hours later. We have not yet had a positive pregnancy test.

I would love to see more recommendations on ways that patients can personally impact their fertility in a positive way. It would be nice to be provided with more resources to enhance our success such as books to read or diet recommendations. Also, it would be nice to be able to access test results on the patient portal.

My insurance covered all diagnostic costs. If I am remembering correctly, each cycle of IUI ended up costing around $350-500 out of pocket.

She is kind and compassionate and has always been upfront with our treatment plan and what to expect. As far as I know it works by referrals only [at OU Physicians Reproductive Health], so make sure you get a referral from your OBGYN. Our wait wasn't very long, i think maybe 3 weeks...we have seen several doctor in the clinic. We did 4 IUI'S through a clinical trial she [Dr. Craig] recommended. We are in the unexplained infertility category and our treatment protocols have changed, but only slightly. I always responded well to treatment, it just didn't work. I dont think being more aggressive would have helped.

Dr. Craig is candid and kind. I have always been able to ask all my questions and they have all been answered in a simple and concise manner. Describe LaTasha Craig's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
We just did embryo adoption and we only have 1 embryo. She did tell us that due to my age and health she would only feel comfortable transferring one embryo had we had more.
Dr. Craig spent time to answer all of my questions and to describe the IVF process in detail, complete with handwritten diagrams and charts. Her personality was a great fit for us, as she was very down to earth and had a sense of humor about the whole thing (which was how my husband and I got through our infertility). She was encouraging, yet realistic when telling us our options. And when our first IVF cycle worked, I felt like she genuinely shared in our joy.
IVF cycle was around $9000 [at OU Physicians Reproductive Health]. The medications were just over $6000. There were some additional costs, like anesthesia for the egg retrieval, bloodwork, etc...I like that this clinic is a fertility only clinic, unlike other fertility clinics in town that see regular OB patients, and therefore have lots of children in the waiting room. The front desk staff was very friendly and organized. They have early morning appointments and never made me wait very long, which made it possible to visit the clinic before work.

I don’t remember the treatment, but we did an IVF cycle that seemed pretty typical. Before that, she performed a salpingectomy to remove a hydrosalpinx on one of my tubes, saying that the fluid from the blocked tube could decrease our chances of a successful pregnancy.
Describe your experience with your nurse at OU Physicians Reproductive Health. (Assigned nurse: Catherine and Amber)
Catherine and Amber were the best. So friendly and nice, while still being super professional. Also, their blood sticks did not hurt, which is important when you’re getting blood drawn all the time!

We only had two embryos to transfer, and she explained the pros and cons of transferring one or two. They weren’t cheste we only had two embryos to transfer, and she explained the pros and cons of transferring one or two. They weren’t PGS tested, And I did not feel like I could handle another transfer financially or emotionally, so we transferred them both and got a singleton pregnancy.
Dr. Craig is caring, upbeat, thorough, and truthful. She is a wonderful doctor and has a great bedside manner while at the same time being honest and upfront about the diagnosis and treatment options.... For IVF, she chose the Microdose Lupron Protocol. I primed for three weeks with Aygestin bc I can’t take regular birth control. Three days after stopping Aygestin I started Lupron... They retrieved 19 eggs. 11 were mature, they fertilized 6 with ICSI and 5 conventional.
All of the nurses at OU are fabulous. I have never once had a negative experience with any of them. They are all extremely compassionate.... My only complaint is that nothing is done electronically other than your records. I wish they would utilize their patient portal or email with results. They call patients every afternoon with results so I always feel like I’m on edge waiting for the phone call with a pen and notepad waiting to write things down.

She was very empathetic when speaking to me about IUI and IVF.
Describe the protocols LaTasha Craig used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
For my five IUI’s I took 2.5 mg Femara twice a day CD 3-7, came in for an ultrasound on CD 9-10 and sometimes once more if needed. Triggered with 10,000 IU Pregnyl and did the IUI exactly 36 hours later. I always produced 1-3 mature follicles during that time. I was told to take a pregnancy test 15 days after the IUI.
For IVF, she chose the Microdose Lupron Protocol. I primed for three weeks with Aygestin bc I can’t take regular birth control. Three days after stopping Aygestin I started Lupron 10ML twice a day. On the third day we added in 375 follostim and 75 Menopur along with the Lupron 10ML twice a day. I had bloodwork done on the third day of stims and my estrogen was 277. They decreased my Follistim to 350. I had bloodwork and ultrasound on day 5, 7, 8 and 9 of stims. They decreased my Follistim each time bc my estrogen kept coming back on the high end. My follicle count on my baseline ultrasound for IVF was 9–10 and on Day 9 of stims I had 23 follicles. I was down to 200 Follistim on Day 9. I triggered at 12:30AM the morning of Day 10 with 10,000 IU a Pregnyl and had my egg retrieval at 11:30 AM on Day 11 (35 hours after trigger). They retrieved 19 eggs. 11 were mature, they fertilized 6 with ICSI and 5 conventional. 3 from the icsi group fertilized and 3 from the conventional group fertilized. On Day 3 we had 3 B+ embryos, 1 B and 2 C’s. She recommended transferring two in Day 3 or waiting until Day 5 and transferring one. We do not want twins so we decided to transfer one on day 5. It was a 4B+A embryo. On Day 6 when my clinic freezes, we had one 4BB+ embryo left to freeze. I came in for bloodwork 10 days after my transfer and 15 days after my egg retrieval and I was not pregnant. We are now gearing up to start a frozen embryo transfer with our one frozen embryo. Dr. Craig recommended not PGS testing due to my age and low AMH and no past history of miscarriages. Based on my past AFC of 5-12 she estimated we’d get approximately 7-10 eggs and we ended up getting 19 so I responded really well to the meds. My husband also has mild male factor infertility with a 1-2% morphology, 37% motility and count of 16-22 million.
Describe your experience with your nurse at OU Physicians Reproductive Health. (Assigned nurse: Amber Jackson)
All of the nurses at OU are fabulous. I have never once had a negative experience with any of them. They are all extremely compassionate. Each time they call on the phone with results they take time to ask how I’m doing and answer any questions I have without seeming rushed. They given me hugs, consoled me when I’ve cried, and remained optimistic about me getting pregnant throughout the whole process. Amber and Connie are definitely my favorite. They both go above and beyond!
Describe your experience with OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
My only complaint is that nothing is done electronically other than your records. I wish they would utilize their patient portal or email with results. They call patients every afternoon with results so I always feel like I’m on edge waiting for the phone call with a pen and notepad waiting to write things down. I’d feel a lot better if details were emailed so I could refer back to them. I’m also a numbers person so I’d have to take a picture of the ultrasound screen with my follicle count or measurements or write down my husbands semen analysis numbers. I’d rather just be able to access all of that on a patient portal or email.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Bloodwork and ultrasounds are done between the hours of 7-9 AM. I never had to wait in the waiting room longer than 10-15 mins. Nurses perform the bloodwork and the doctor performs the ultrasounds.
Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Medication from Acaria online pharmacy for IVF was $3500. IVF with ICSI was $9580. Anesthesia was $500. IVF sperm work up was $315. ART screening was $167. IVF consult was $50. IUI was $350. IUI ultrasounds and bloodwork were $88. Infectious disease testing was $160.
Describe LaTasha Craig's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
She ultimately left the decision up to us and showed us the statistics on SART.org. We have one child already that was conceived naturally 5 years ago and really didn’t want multiples so we chose to only transfer one embryo. She recommended the transfer on Day 3 if we chose to transfer two embryos and Day 5 of we chose to transfer one embryo.
Dr Craig makes sure to ask questions about me that aren’t related to just infertility. And I never feel rushed like she doesn’t have time to answer a question I might have. There have been a few times where I’ve found something on google and have asked her about it and she never got offended or acted like I was trying to second guess her....she has pointed out that by losing weight I can increase my chances, but never made me feel ashamed or guilty for being overweight.
Everyone from the receptionist to the check out person is so encouraging, even in times of distress. I do wish they [OU Phys Repro Med] had appointments for treatment available in the later part of the afternoon...Every nurse I have had experience with except for one has been the best experience I’ve ever had with a doctors office nursing staff....Everything possible that can be billed to insurance has been.... The total cost of the IUI for self pay is $350-$400.
How was your experience with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr Craig has always made me feel like I was important. She doesn’t sugar coat things, but is able to say things in a way that is to the point but not harsh. I have weight issues and she’s never once made me feel like being overweight was the root cause of my issues with infertility. But she has pointed out that by losing weight I can increase my chances, but never made me feel ashamed or guilty for being overweight. I’m not one to ask a lot of questions but I do a lot of my own research and basically everything that I’ve found has corresponded with the plans Dr Craig has used for me. And the few questions I have had have been explained as to why we haven’t gone a particular route in a respectful manner and didn’t leave me feeling like I was less of a person because I didn’t have the Dr in front of my name. If you are looking for a doctor that only talks about rainbows and butterflies and holds your hand and treats you with kid gloves, Dr Craig is not going to be the doctor for you. But if you are looking for a real human that is rooting for you to be a mom and sets realistic expectations a long the way, then Dr Craig would be a great fit for you.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Trust that she knows what she is doing, but if you have ideas or questions don’t be afraid to voice them. She will respect your opinion, and even if you want to try something that she doesn’t feel like will be the best fit for you, as long as it isn’t harmful she’s willing to let you try. She really lets the patient guide their steps within reason of course.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr Craig makes sure to ask questions about me that aren’t related to just infertility. And I never feel rushed like she doesn’t have time to answer a question I might have. There have been a few times where I’ve found something on google and have asked her about it and she never got offended or acted like I was trying to second guess her. She just explained why we hadn’t gone that direction for me, or explained why it may not have been good information. She’s never made me feel like I was stupid for bringing something up. I’ve been to doctors where if you mention something they stop short of rolling their eyes and blow you off. I’ve never felt that way with Dr Craig.
Describe the protocols LaTasha Craig used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
I came to Dr Craig after having tried 3 rounds of clomid and times intercourse and 3 or 4 rounds of Femara and timed intercourse through my OBGYN. After my first meeting we decided to try an IUI on my next cycle. We ended up doing four cycles with IUI and on the fourth cycle I was pregnant! Unfortunately when we went in for our ultrasound it was discovered that I had a septum in my uterus and the baby had attached to the septum tissue which isn’t healthy tissue and so the baby didn’t grow. I was crushed. In the week that followed I expressed my frustration of having to go back for another ultrasound to confirm what we already knew. I’ve always been a okay what do we do next kind of person, and so having to wait was really hard. Once we had confirmation that the baby was attached to the septum we induced miscarriage using cytotec. And once my hcg level was back to the negative range we scheduled surgery to remove the septum. Dr Craig performed the surgery, my septum was very minimal. I should also mention that I had done an HSG with my OBGYN and it wasn’t repeated with Dr Craig and the HSG didn’t reveal the septum. I don’t want to give the impression that Dr Craig missed diagnosing the septum, she didn’t. Once the surgery was complete we did 4 rounds of timed intercourse with no drugs while working on weight loss. Then we did five more IUI’s without success. We are currently saving for IVF as our next step so treatment is on pause currently.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Every nurse I have had experience with except for one has been the best experience I’ve ever had with a doctors office nursing staff. The nurse that I haven’t had the most positive experience with I would say it’s because our personalities clash, and not because she is not a good nurse or capable.
Describe your experience with OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Everyone from the receptionist to the check out person is so encouraging, even in times of distress. I do wish they had appointments for treatment available in the later part of the afternoon, but that just what would work best for my schedule. The clinic opens at 730 and closes at 430. Bloodwork appointments are typically from 730-830 and then IUI appointments are anywhere from 10-1130 am and then consults etc are in the afternoon. I can’t say what the schedule is like for IVF treatments as I’m not at that step.
Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Everything possible that can be billed to insurance has been. But I don’t have fertility coverage so IUI’s have been out of pocket. The total cost of the IUI for self pay is $350-$400.
Dr. Craig was wonderful and did the best she could, but on one transfer day she mistaken said that our embryos looked good when we were only transferring one embryo that day. In fact, it was our last embryo. I'm certain she was just reporting what she had heard from her nurse or the embryologist, but it looked really bad. I mean, did they even transfer OUR embryo a few minutes later?
Our prescriptions were not called in on time for a frozen transfer. When asked about it she [the nurse at OU Physicians Reproductive Health] told me that our GC was on the injectables for "far longer than she needed to be and delaying a day or 2 would not hurt". In other words, she acted like it wasn't a big deal. I was frustrated because 1) why not just apologize? and 2) why are we subjecting a 3rd party to more hormones than needed?
How was your experience with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Honestly, I really really like Dr. Craig. I cannot recommend her clinic fully because of her staff. Her IVF Coordinator/Nurse was not fully on top of things like ordering our medication on time, etc. She was not friendly (and less so when I called her out on a mistake). Dr. Craig was wonderful and did the best she could, but on one transfer day she mistaken said that our embryos looked good when we were only transferring one embryo that day. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
You are your own advocate. Double check EVERYTHING.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr. Craig was wonderful. I didn't super care for her IVF coordinator/nurse.
Describe the protocols LaTasha Craig used in your cycles at OU Physicians Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
I took menopor, lupron, an HCG trigger shot, and follistim. My GC took lupron, estrogen patches, and progesterone injections.

She wasn't on top of ordering medication for our transfer.
Describe your experience with OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
I loved everything except the nurse who failed to order medication for our cycle. Following that, she seemingly avoided us. I really liked Dr. Hansen's coordinator--she seemed more warm and willing to work with us.
Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
I cannot remember beyond the fact that our IVF cycle was $13,000+. I know we paid other large fees, but that was the main one.
Describe LaTasha Craig's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
My doctor recommended we transfer 2 the first time. They froze our additional embryos into separate straws for future eSET transfers because the embryos were AA.
What specific things went wrong at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy

She [Dr Craig] was kind, caring and explained things well. It can be a bit of an overwhelming process and would be very helpful if she could hand me a print out of what she covers. They did give me a few papers that needed to be updated....I used clomid, a trigger shot and iui three times. I used femara ( I think is what it's called) instead of clomid because we were afraid that clomid was thinning my lining. I was told that my clomid dosage was considered normal until I started in on a study then my clomid dosage doubled and that was awful!
Some of their [OU Phys Repro Med] strengths are that they are top of the line, always trying new things, always having several clinical trials, very professional, helpful and kind. Weaknesses are just feeling like another patient but I don't know how you can help that with such a busy place. I would really appreciate a printed paper or email that covered each visit....She [RN] was wonderful! She helped us to feel completely comfortable and even excited about the process.

around $450 per iui cycle times 4 so a couple thousand dollars.
three cycles were completely free because of an experimental trial with male vitamins
Dr Craig is a caring, compassionate provider. Infertility is hard but I trusted her completely and feel that my trust was rewarded. I cried tears of sadness and joy in her office. When I finally did get pregnant, I knew it was because of her help.... Dr Craig seemed to truly care about me and our situation. She remembered mine and my husband’s name and details about us. She knew us and didn’t have to spend the whole appointment looking at my chart.
[OU Physicians Reproductive Health's] Strengths: Efficient, organized, good communicators, prompt with sharing test results. Weaknesses: long wait time to be seen as a new patient. Call 6-8 weeks before you want to have your first appointment. After you’re an established patient, appointment making is easy.... 1. Clomid with times intercourse (2x) 2. Clomid with injection induced ovulation (1x) 3. Clomid with IUI (3x) 4. Femara with IUI (1x) 5. Injectables with IUI (1x) 6. IVF-twins born! Negative pregnancy test every time until IVF. Dr Craig would try every protocol for 3 months. I didn’t always do that because I was anxious to get pregnant t faster and each additional protocol had a higher success rate.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Monitoring appointments were done first thing in the morning. Dr Craig usually did ultrasounds. If she wasn’t available, another doctor did it. If no physicians were available, I saw a pa or nurse. That only happened once during the course of my treatment.
Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
My insurance covered most of it. I paid $50 copay every visit.
Describe LaTasha Craig's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
She told us the risks and benefits but left it up to us. She did say that most people choose multiple embryo transfer but the official recommendation was a single transfer. after we made the decision to transfer 2, our decision was never questioned.
There is not a better doctor out there than Dr LaTasha Craig. From the first time she said hello I knew I was cared about. She truly cares about her patients. She is genuine and honest and takes time to explain everything. She is a shoulder to cry on when results aren't as I would have wished and she celebrated with us when we found out we were expecting! We have now adopted her as family because of the way she made us feel.
[OU Physicians Reproductive Health is a] Large office, very clean and well taken care of. The men's clinic is across the hall so men don't have to feel like they are in the wrong office. The staff is very caring. I can't find anything negative to say about this clinic... The entire team, especially Connie Wharton and Cynthia Prieto, were so caring and warm and wonderful! They made me feel welcome and were genuinely happy to see us at every visit. Very organized and understanding of my dislike of having my blood taken. They were careful and accommidating.

I don't remember the exact protocol but we discovered that I had very few eggs left especially of good quality. She set my expectations that we may not make it to egg retrieval but she would give it everything she had. We made it to egg retrieval and I am now the mom of twin boys!

My medication was more expensive than the egg retrieval and embryo transfer
Describe LaTasha Craig's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
I only had two embryos and I begged for both to be implanted together. Due to my age and financial situation as well as everything we had been thru, Dr Craig agreed to the multiple embryo transfer
My treatment [with Dr. LaTasha Craig] started with Clomid and cycle monitoring. The doses of clomid were increased, as no results were recorded. Once I was on the maximum dose of Clomid with no ovulation, I was put on Femara, as off-label use. Femara caused me to ovulate. On my first cycle, I had a chemical pregnancy. I did 5 more cycles on Femara with no pregnancy. We consulted with Dr. Craig and decided to stick with Femara, and do IUI. We coupled the IUI with the HCG trigger shot. After 3 cycles, we consulted with Dr. Craig and opted to try 3 more IUI cycles. After those IUI cycles, we consulted with Dr. Craig and decided to move forward with IVF. Dr. Craig encouraged us to look at our options, and take our time. Based on my age (30) she said there was no rush on moving forward so aggressively, if we had reservations. We opted to move forward and proceed with IVF. In my first IVF cycle, we transferred two viable embryos and had a live birth of fraternal twins boys in July 2011.
The clinic [OU Physicians Reproductive Health] is open 365 days a year, so no matter whether you need to be checked on Thanksgiving, like me or on the Fourth of July, the staff will be there to treat and support you. Expect to be greeted with smiles and for everyone to know your name. Expect to have everything communicated to you fully and clearly. Expect the nurses to genuinely care about you while you are a patient and well after your treatment is successfully completed.
How was your experience with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
From our first meeting with Dr. Craig, we were fully supported. She never let us get discouraged. If a treatment didn't work, she always had the next step ready to go. Her disposition is professional, but friendly. She always greeted us with smiles. I recommend Dr. Craig to anyone looking for fertility treatment.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
The one piece of advice I would give to a prospective patient of Dr. Craig, would be to keep an open mind. She will speak honestly and frankly. She will give you options and she will give you her opinion when asked. Keep an open mind and be ready to ask a lot of questions. She will sit with you as long as it takes to answer them all.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr. Craig immediately put us at ease and assured us she would take good care of us. She has a positive attitude and kept our spirits high. She always came in with smiles and laughs, through every test and treatment. We felt (and still feel) welcomed every time we see her. She always calls us by name. Her staff and nurses make the experience that much better. Dr. Craig, and ALL of the staff cried with us when we were released, pregnant with twins, to go back to my regular Ob/Gyn. Their office hosts a "birthday party" every couple of years, so they can reunite and celebrate all of the families they helped create. It's so much fun and makes us all feel like one big family!

Most of my monitoring was considered "diagnostic" by insurance and was covered, except for my co-pay of around $40 per visit. My medications were generally not covered, but Clomid was inexpensive $10/month and the Femara was about the same $10/month. IUI was paid out of pocket and was $300 per attempt. HCG was approximately $50 per IUI attempt. For the IVF, we estimated about $15,000 between paying the clinic and for the drugs. Our clinic offered us a multi-cycle refund program, which we participated in, for peace of mind. So, we paid slightly more for the first cycle, but the peace of mind we received from knowing we could try again, if needed was invaluable.
Describe LaTasha Craig's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Dr. Craig was very straightforward with us regarding the embryo transfer. She said she wasn't going to create any reality TV stars. We had the option of transferring one or two embryos- no more. She said her estimation was a 70% success rate for me with one embryo, with an additional 70% chance of BOTH embryos taking, if one was successful. She discussed the risks of multiple pregnancy, and preterm birth with us and left the decision completely up to us after that point. It's a very personal decision. For us, our age, the cost and my relative good health, we felt two embryos was the best choice for us and she supported our choice.
Dr. Craig was always kind and had an upbeat attitude. She took time to answer my questions about always listened to my concerns. She made sure that I understood upcoming appointments and timelines. She oversaw the resident doctor and was available to answer questions if needed...She answered all of my questions and made sure I felt comfortable with the process...We completed a frozen embryo transfer cycle
Appointment availability and scheduling [at OU Physicians Reproductive Health] was fairly easy and flexible. The wait was often more than half an hour. Logistics between the facility that had our frozen embryos and the clinic took longer than we expected...Now that they are using offsite storage regularly, this might not be an issue...I saw a different nurse almost every visit and every single one was helpful and answered any questions or concerns that I had.

Describe the costs associated with your care under LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
The total cost for a frozen embryo transfer with assisted hatching was $3510. Follow up ultrasounds were partially covered by insurance and I had a $36 co-pay for each.
Describe LaTasha Craig's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at OU Physicians Reproductive Health.
Based on the quality of embryo and previous success the doctor recommended only transfer of a single embryo.
Dr.Craig takes her time and fully explains how the procedures that you need done and even will dummy it down for you if it is needed. The [OU Physicians Reproductive Health] clinic staff is amazing to work with. They know you are going through a hard situation in your life and are there with you every step of the way. I was always amazed at how fast they would respond back to me when I would call or email a message...My insurance does not cover any expenses. Everything was due at the time of appointment. For IVF we went through a payment program and they walked us through that process
How was your experience with LaTasha Craig at OU Physicians Reproductive Health?
Dr.Craig takes her time and fully explains how the procedures that you need done and even will dummy it down for you if it is needed. When I broke down crying she immediately stopped explaining what she was doing and started to comfort me. Although I am in the beginning stage and waiting for my first IVF cycle, I have seen more of the nurses than Dr. Craig. She was there explaining everything to my husband and I but during our actual IUI that nurse did those.

I really appreciate the way Dr. Craig communicates. You can see the passion she has for her profession and she’s optimist yet realistic and she doesn’t leave room for uncertainty. You can tell that she takes the time to review each patient’s file and she never makes us feel like she’s in a hurry.... Since we’re primarily dealing with MFI, she’s been so great about working with my husband’s urologist and she’s kept everyone on the same page.
I really love working within the OU network because it has such a strong team of resources. The clinic is conveniently located, it’s very clean and everyone shows professionalism at all times.... They all seem to work very cohesively.... I believe the Office visIt is $225. We are paying for everything out of pocket.... Dr. Craig makes us feel like we’re her only patients every time we are at her office.

She [Dr. Craig] sat with me in her office and took notes. She was the only doctor I’ve seen that tested me as a potential fragile x carrier which ended up being the resulting factor to why I have POF.... She was personable and made me feel heard and didn’t rush me. She was knowledgeable and made me feel at ease in her care. I felt like she knew what she was talking about. She set me up with genetic counseling which was helpful in understanding my diagnosis.
