Dr Eisman instantly understood who we were as a couple. She could tell that I liked to have a lot of information about the tests being done, why they were being done and the expected levels we wanted to see in the results...She was so understanding and warm with her approach to a difficult topic for so many people and she made us feel heard and supported. I knew a rough estimation of what things would cost as the case manager and finance manager worked with my insurance to understand coverage for each medication and procedure ahead of time.
How was your experience with Laura Eisman at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr Eisman instantly understood who we were as a couple. She could tell that I liked to have a lot of information about the tests being done, why they were being done and the expected levels we wanted to see in the results. I like to analyze information and she could tell that that was the personality I have. She was able to share detailed analysis of our fertility chances and explain it in a way that I could follow. When we located a uterine fibroid during a mock transfer, she clearly explained why she recommended doing a fibroid removal surgery before doing an embryo transfer in order to reduce the chance of miscarriage. She was also clear in detailing what PGT testing was for and weighed up the pros/cons of doing the testing prior to implantation. I'm so glad we did the testing to make sure we had the best possible chance for a positive outcome.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Laura Eisman at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Ask detailed questions about your fertility. She has so much knowledge and it really helped me feel supported during the treatment we received. You won't always be dealing directly with her when going through treatment, but the case manager was constantly checking in with Dr Eisman if we had specific questions and they were always responded to in a reasonable timeframe.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Laura Eisman at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?

Describe the protocols Laura Eisman used in your cycles at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
As I had a tubal blockage, Dr Eisman advised it would be best to jump straight to IVF as an IUI would likely be unsuccessful if I ovulated on the blocked ovary. Unfortunately, my insurance company insisted on 3 failed IUIs before they would approve IVF treatment. Dr EDisman went above and beyond in trying to get that decision reversed. The insurance company stuck to their decision so we had to do 3 medicated IUIs with Clomiphene first, and a trigger shot. We were unsuccessful. So then my insurance approved us for IVF. We did 1 egg retrieval round using a combination of Menopur, Gonal-F and Ganirelix. We had to increase our dosage of Gonal-F part way through the stims, and we did a standard cycle of egg retrieval. We opted to do PGT-A testing due to advanced maternal age, and Dr Eisman explained that this would mean a frozen embryo transfer after results came back. It was the best protocol to do this rather than a fresh transfer as we found a uterine fibroid during the mock transfer. So it was best to get that removed before doing any transfer. We did 2 medicated FETs using estrace, azithromycin, prometrium pessaries and progesterone in oil. The purpose was to ensure that we would have a successful transfer. Unfortunately, our first cycle ended in a chemical pregnancy. Dr Eisman talked us through what we wanted to do next. She was confident in going straight for another FET with slight adjustments on dosage, and that if the 2nd transfer failed, we would look into testing options to see if there was an issue. We had enough embryos frozen to be able to go straight into another FET, which was successful. We maintained the PIO injections and prometrium pessaries through to 10 weeks gestation. Dr Eisman kept in contact and checking the progress during this time until we were ready to graduate and transfer care to my OB.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
The nursing team at RSC Bay Area did a phenomenal job in helping us to complete our family. There was so much support from every nurse that we dealt with. Every single one of them had a warm and friendly approach, while also showing support during difficulties and setbacks. You go into the clinic sometimes daily for appointments and I never had a bad experience with any of the nurses. My husband came to every single appointment that he could and the nurses also made sure to explain things to him so that he would also understand the process.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
The case managers are your "boots on the ground" people. They help the coordination and are 100% knowledgeable about your plan of care and are super helpful. They are always contactable for any burning questions and will follow up with the clinical team for any detailed queries. The egg retrieval surgery was the most effectively run operation I have experienced in any medical setting. As the timing is very specific, down to the minute based on when you did your trigger shot, there is no room for delays. It was smoothly run and extremely easy for being an invasive surgery. I felt well cared for and knew I was in very capable hands. I would say the only "weakness" is that you don't often spend time with your own Dr - but it actually works for the process. All the other doctors are knowledgeable on your treatment plan and are able to build that rapport with you very quickly. I understand the need for you to work with every doctor as it purely relies on who is doing operational clinic services that day and your cycle. I was thrilled that Dr Eisman's clinic days coincided with the 2 embryo transfers that we did. But I would have been just as comfortable with any of the other doctors had it been their clinic days.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Laura Eisman at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
The anticipated costs were detailed up front. I knew a rough estimation of what things would cost as the case manager and finance manager worked with my insurance to understand coverage for each medication and procedure ahead of time. I had to seek pre-approval from my insurance for all the medication requirements and procedures, and I was fully aware of hat would be covered and what would be completely out of pocket. The finance manager was extremely knowledgeable on my billing and fees, and was able to help me navigate this easily.
Describe Laura Eisman's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Dr Eisman had a strong view to do single transfers - standard for the clinic. As we only wanted 1 child and have a history of identical twins in the family, and because of advanced maternal age, we also wanted to only do a single transfer to reduce the risk of a multiple pregnancy. Dr Eisman clearly explained the scenarios in which multiple embryo transfers would be done, but we were way off getting to that method. Our approach was very much aligned with Dr Eisman's
I did an initial consultation with Dr Eisman. I asked some questions, and I felt she didn't treat me seriously, and seemed to find some of my questions funny. I didn't feel being respected. The experience was not very good, and I decided to end the process. It took me some courage to setup the appointment, so this was discouraging...
My doctor recommended this clinic [Reproductive Science Center], so I decided to give it a try. However, the clinic seems very disorganized. Cons: - The customer service is terrible. I tried to see a different doctor at their clinic after it didn't work out with Dr Eisman. There were quite some confusions on whether or not I could schedule with a new doctor...Pros: - The process of setting up the first consultation went fine (they have a very detailed online form for new patients).
How was your experience with Laura Eisman at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
During the initial consultation, she didn't seem to treat me seriously. I asked some questions, and she seems to think some of them were funny.
For example, she asked me about my family medical history, and I told her some medical history of my sister. It seemed that she felt what I said was funny. I asked some other questions, and felt she wasn't treating me seriously.
I didn't feel fully supported and was quite disappointed with the consultation. As a result, I had to cancel the rest of the treatment. This was quite disappointing.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Laura Eisman at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Would not recommend Dr Eisman.

Only did initial consultation with the doctor.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
My doctor recommended this clinic, so I decided to give it a try.
However, the clinic seems very disorganized.
Cons:
- The customer service is terrible. I tried to see a different doctor at their clinic after it didn't work out with Dr Eisman. There were quite some confusions on whether or not I could schedule with a new doctor. After I scheduled with a different doctor with their representative, they called me after two days told me they need approval from management in order to switch doctor, and cancelled my appointment. I called several times afterwards to follow up on whether the approval go through, and each time they told me they don't know when the management will respond. I tried to speak to the supervisor to see if I could get an answer, but they never called back.
The entire experience was very frustrating.
- The billing process is very confusing. I gave them my progyny number before the appointment. But their billing department seems to not know what the scheduling department is doing, and they didn't get my insurance information. They billed me for the office visit despite the insurance. I had to call several times to give them my insurance information, and still don't know if the issue has been resolved.
Again, the experience was very frustrating.
Pros:
- The process of setting up the first consultation went fine (they have a very detailed online form for new patients).
Be aware that:
- They have a policy that once you choose/been given a doctor, you are not allowed to switch to another doctor. If you want to schedule an appointment, it's better to have a doctor in mind, instead of letting them assign you one. Because even if it didn't go well, they don't allow you to change to another doctor.
Dr. Eisman was patient and warm with us. She explained the process in a way that made sense to us and answered all of our questions. She didn't rush us and understood how stressful it was for us. She empathized and talked to us like people...I liked that she was a woman instead of the many male doctors I had already met with. She made me feel comfortable and I felt like she understood what I was going through differently than how a male doctor would.
RSC is large but has several clinics in various cities, making it really convenient. It felt like a big and small company at the same time. There were different departments rather than just a few support staff and nurses, but at the same time, because you had an assigned doctor and doctor's team, there was that personalized care you would get from a smaller clinic.

The plan was to do 2-3 IVF cycles in order to do embryo banking. We would do ICSI and PGT testing as well.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
The nurse who did the antra-follicle count was very nice and knowledgeable. She treated me like a human and took the time to talk to me before the exam instead of jumping right in.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Laura Eisman at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
There are multiple options at RSC. You can pay per cycle, or pay for 2 or 3, where the 3-cycle package was the most cost effective per cycle. The 2-cycle program was about $42,000 plus $10,000 in medication, and the 3-cycle package was about $52,000 plus $15,000 in medication. Both options included unlimited FET's.
Dr. Eismen was not blunt, but was also very business like...I think she is smart and can do her job well. She seemed a little green and I feel like I could sense her lack of confidence when I asked certain questions...She was nice enough and not intensely blunt, although I would have appreciated more of a warm demeanor and bedside manner....
The care coordinator [at Reproductive Science Center] would not answer all my questions at once or would give short answers. I have compassion for how busy they are and I also would have to spend more time trying to contact again to get the information I needed. When I let her know this she said that the process can be overwhelming for some people so she tries not to overwhelm people with information. I understand the concept, but if I am asking for the information, I think that is different....
How was your experience with Laura Eisman at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
For me personally, I was excited that Dr.Eisman had specific experience with my type of fertility questions/issues. Although when we met she was very much all business and straight faces except for her slight shift when I spoke of a family medical issue. I think she is smart and can do her job well. She seemed a little green and I feel like I could sense her lack of confidence when I asked certain questions. Also, she chided be for not fully emptying my bladder before an ultrasound ( a complication of an issue she already knew about). When I came back from the bathroom she seemed to try to be nicer but also did not apologize. She was nice enough and not intensely blunt, although I would have appreciated more of a warm demeanor and bedside manner.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Laura Eisman at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
If you like or don't mind a more business oriented provider than she may be for you, but for such a sensitive topic as infertility, I've gone on to look for doctors who can have some level of emotional experience with their patients even if it is not their first language.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Laura Eisman at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I felt in the middle, but a little more like a number. Dr. Eismen was not blunt, but was also very business like. She sorted slightly when I told her of family medical issues.

Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Since the reviews of the office staff ere so poor I was hesitant to contact RSC in the first place, but my experience with the office and billing were fine. RSC has a very extensive video education series with multiple modules you must watch and take quizzes on before considering IVF. I think that they are very thorough AND I also think that the videos were almost scaring in their statistics for what can go wrong with IVF health wise. The numbers of possible side effects of IVF aren't huge in comparison with the number of people who go through it but they were still much higher than I would have thought. Maybe they could add a consultation with a IVF Education person at the end of the videos to help people process the intensity. There is a quiz at the end of each module, which I appreciated, because it makes sure people are paying attention to what is going to happen to their bodies.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Laura Eisman at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
IUI would be $3063 per cycle plus ad ons of different pre and post services if needed
Dr. Eisman was always kind and personable, and always took her time with answering our questions and concerns as we never felt rushed in any of our appointments. She also was great at following up with us to check in after appointments and even offered a congratulations after we gave birth...worked with us in developing a care plan that was realistic and met our fertility goals.
The clinic [Reproductive Science Center] was timely for the most part; however, there were a few times where we waited in the waiting room for quite some time. Office staff was always friendly and efficient in checking you. All staff members are respectful of your privacy and care requests as well...We did primarily unmedicated IUI treatments...vaginal estrodiol for 2 of the cycles and the trigger shots before each cycle.

Almost $1000 per IUI treatment plus about $50 per trigger shot
Doctor Laura Eisman is an incredible doctor to have on your side...have a high BMI...provide me a balanced and kind education on risk factors involved with higher BMI pregnancies but I never felt shamed or condescended to...incredibly inclusive of my wife in the entire process
RSC’s strength is in its younger doctors who have their eye on modern evidenced based practice...offered compassionate and personalized care...offers super early appointment...only weakness...some of their educational materials (but still less than others I’ve seen) are overly tailored toward same sex couples.
How was your experience with Laura Eisman at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Doctor Laura Eisman is an incredible doctor to have on your side during what can be a tempestuous time in the lives of you, your partner, and your family. RSC as a practice was recommended very highly by another LGBT family my wife and I are close to and we picked Dr. Eisman because reviews from her previous patients lead me to believe that she is dedicated to understanding the goals and circumstances of each patient as an individual and working together to form a highly personalized treatment plan.
This was, if anything, an understatement. I have a high BMI and had run into BMI cut offs at other fertility clinics despite the fact that all of my lab work is normal and I have no chronic diseases that would place me at elevated risk during pregnancy. My only infertility factor was my wife’s lack of a Y chromosome. Dr Eisman was able to provide me a balanced and kind education on risk factors involved with higher BMI pregnancies but I never felt shamed or condescended to. She and the RSC team were also incredibly inclusive of my wife in the entire process and their educational materials are not nearly as heteronormative as many other clinics.
Dr. Eisman agreed with my wife and I that an unmedicated natural IUI cycle would be best for us. Where some fertility doctors are only interested in “padding their stats” regardless of the health or fertility status of their patient, she listened to our goals and looked at my health holistically and without being biased by my weight. We became pregnant our first cycle and now we’re “graduating” to our usual OB/GYN but in a few years when we’re ready for a second kiddo, there will be only one choice of fertility doctor and it will be Dr Eisman.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Laura Eisman at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Don’t be afraid to voice your preferences or ask your questions. She wants to hear them and she’s confident and skilled enough to give you the information you need in a way you can understand!

We opted for an unmedicated cycle because I’ve always had very regular periods and there has never been any indication of FFI. I notified my nurse case manager when my cycle began and I went in twice for follicle monitoring so that Dr Eisman could best identify when to recommend the hCG trigger shot. The trigger shot was the only medical intervention recommended or used beyond the standard recommendations of beginning prenatal vitamins prior to conception.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Kayla)
Our nurse was Kayla Mercer and she was absolutely an incredible lifeline between my wife and I and Dr Eisman. It felt comforting to know that while Dr Eisman has many patients across a couple clinics, that Kayla manages fewer patients and therefore has short response times and personalized feedback.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
RSC’s strength is in its younger doctors who have their eye on modern evidenced based practice. Dr Eisman and Kayla Mercer offered compassionate and personalized care. RSC also offers super early appointment times which is great for patients who work full time! Their only weakness of note is that some of their educational materials (but still less than others I’ve seen) are overly tailored toward same sex couples.
Dr. Eisman helped our dreams come true. Through IVF we had a healthy, perfect baby boy. She was supportive when we did medicated timed Intercourse cycles, IUI, and ultimately - IVF. She had the same goal as us: create a healthy baby. She didn’t push any type of treatment on us and listened every step of the way. She is very good at what she does and is extremely knowledgeable so we trust her. We do plan on having our second child with her help, I would recommend Dr. Eisman to all of my friends and family members. We’re so grateful to have worked with her and to have had the means to do fertility treatments.
RSC is a very organized clinic and I would recommend them. They have multiple locations so they should have a branch that’s close to patients. We had the pleasure of going to RSC and I appreciate how easy they were. Billing, care coordinators, the main office were all so easy to get a hold of...The care coordinators couldn’t have been better, they are so quick to respond, so compassionate, and really felt like true friends I really enjoyed working with them they helped really challenging time become more bearable.

We used Letrozole for timed Intercourse cycles for PCOS and IUI. I had a standard IVF Embryo Transfer using progesterone and estrogen prior to transfer and both until I was 10 weeks pregnant. We used ICSI to fertilize eggs after retrieval.
