When I transferred care to Dr Weckstein he was thoughtful and listened. He tailored a plan to me based off my body, past experiences, and concerns. He would come in on ultrasounds anytime he had the chance and took his time making decisions about the next days and steps before retrieval...He did not pressure me into PGT testing. He was confident in his lab ability to grade the embryos...Every time he called he used my name. I felt heard and seen by him with ever interaction. Never once did I feel rushed.
I think the clinic [at Reproductive Science Center] is seamless. I never have long waits. Everyone is friendly and seems happy to be there. I have seen NPs, RNs, and all ancillary staff they are all friendly, skilled, and compassionate...I bought a package for 30,000 which gave us 3 retrievals and unlimited transfers until a live birth or our money back. We did one retrieval and have a live birth...[nursing staff] is quick and timely with ordering labs, medications, and communicating to providers for you.

I can’t imagine my life without moving to Dr Weckstein. He took a horribly depressing time In my life and made me far more comfortable. He gave me hope. He was compassionate and clear with his expectations. He was calm and brought a lot of wisdom and certainly for my husband and I.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Louis Weckstein at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
When I transferred care to Dr Weckstein he was thoughtful and listened. He tailored a plan to me based off my body, past experiences, and concerns. He would come in on ultrasounds anytime he had the chance and took his time making decisions about the next days and steps before retrieval. I was driving 2.5 hours to the clinic and he would say “hey I know it’s along way but I want to see you back tomorrow to make sure the size is right to get the most viable eggs” (right before retrieval). I never felt pressured. Every time he called he used my name. I felt heard and seen by him with ever interaction. Never once did I feel rushed.

I had done IUI and IVF at another clinic I did not have any success. I did not have any embryos with my first IVF. I was maxed out on hormones and had low ovarian reserve. When I changed to Weckstein he put on Clomid and small amounts of hormones resulting in the same amount of eggs but better size and I think quality. He did not pressure me into PGT testing. He was confident in his lab ability to grade the embryos. We did one retrieval and got 2 day 5AA embryos.

She communicates timely and shows compassion with all correspondence. She I feel like has been an advocate and cheerleader over the years. I always am excited to see a message in my inbox from here. She is quick and timely with ordering labs, medications, and communicating to providers for you.

we actually never even met him [Dr. Weckstein] until my first transfer. He did not set expectations or even communicate the specifics of what our embryo quality and development was. He didn’t change anything from our first failed transfer to the second...He claimed we did the “most aggressive” protocol. Gonal F, Menopur Both transfers were medicated, estrogen 3x/day, progesterone shots and suppositories and day 6 transfers...He’s not really involved and you need to have a very hands on case manager to feel even remotely heard...
Every time you walk in for an appointment [at Reproductive Science Center] the front desk doesn’t look up and rudely asks “DOB”, hold a thermometer to your forehead and tell you to sit. You get passes from room to room, nurse to Dr and no one makes eye contact or small talk to shows an ounce of compassion for the journey you are on...EndomeTrio and Receptiva DX order by Dr and performed by Nurse who mid procedure admitted she “wasn’t prepared for the second catheter biopsy” She ended up having to scrape my uterus 3 extra times because she couldn’t gather enough tissue because the first swipe took too much...

Initially we liked him because he seemed to have good bedside manner. But we actually never even met him until my first transfer. He did not set expectations or even communicate the specifics of what our embryo quality and development was. He didn’t change anything from our first failed transfer to the second. He suggested we do the Endometrio after the second but in his notes backpedaled and said he suggested it earlier, which is false. He had a nurse do this procedure when all other clinics the Dr does this. He was completely unapologetic after the procedure was done incorrectly and essentially brushed us off saying that “ he’s sorry he can’t give us the care we are expecting”

He’s nice but doesn’t do well with confrontation or having to back up his failed work. He’s not really involved and you need to have a very hands on case manager to feel even remotely heard

She was on PTO when assigned to us and had no coverage. Zero communication for over 3 weeks. Didn’t assign us the necessary modules and classes to learn the injections until the night of our first shots. Was so stressed from her lack of communication we requested to switch case managers midway through our stimulation.

Zero strengths. Front desk rude and never prepared with the appropriate paperwork or fees. So many nurses all with attitude and no empathy or social skills. Passed from Dr to Dr and nurse practitioner performing procedures that should be done by Dr.

EndomeTrio and Receptiva DX order by Dr and performed by Nurse who mid procedure admitted she “wasn’t prepared for the second catheter biopsy” She ended up having to scrape my uterus 3 extra times because she couldn’t gather enough tissue because the first swipe took too much. She then left the room to find a Dr to ask if she got enough sample, leaving me on the table in excruciating pain for 10 minutes. Clinic didn’t have the appropriate paperwork ready that was needed for the biopsies to go out. My most recent ultrasound showed polyps and tissue caused from the Nurse’s aggressive scraping

How was your experience with Louis Weckstein at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
My husband and I were about to begin our treatment with another doctor at a different clinic, literally a day after we had our consultation call with Dr. Weckstein. After the call, we knew we had to switch over. The depth he covers and leaving nothing unexplained during the call made us so assured that we decided that two months delay starting with a new doctor is worth it. I had a successful retrieval of 12 eggs. Throughout the process, Dr. Weckstein would call himself every day to update. He is an extremely busy man with so many patients under his care and never does he rush you through any calls or conversations. He is optimistic but also firmly realistic in a sense that he gives you the very accurate picture of our odds and prognosis. We ended up with 3 euploid embryos and it was exactly the % Dr. Weckstein predicted in the beginning. After a successful implantation and early pregnancy, I had an unexplained miscarriage at week 7. It was devastating to go through. Dr. Weckstein was compassionate and supportive while making sure I get the medical support I need. We decided to go ahead with the next round of egg retrieval with Dr. Weckstein even though we have two embryos left, considering my age and all.

He is booked out so far in advance so get on his calendar as early as possible. We had to wait about 5 months for our first consultation.

Antagonist protocol. Gonal F, Menopur, Cetrotide & Lupron Trigger. 12 eggs retrieved. 6 fertilized. 3 euploids. The next upcoming cycle, Dr. Weckstein is increasing my dosage vs. the first round since my body was taking injections well without any side effects.

The clinic has multiple locations in the Bay Area. I was able to do most of my monitoring at the Los Gatos office close to where I live. Not having to drive to San Ramon office so often especially helped during the retrieval process. The clinic overall is very professional. Their payment system online is a little rudimentary but that’s pretty much anything critical I have to say.

The first round of IVF cycle w/ frozen transfer was covered by insurance and we only paid for the cycle management fee which was less than $500 total. I opted to pay oop for injections to save benefits for treatment and that was around $2200 for retrieval and $350 for frozen transfer. For the upcoming (just) retrieval cycle, I am quoted around $8600. My injections are expected to be around $3100 this time around.

Dr Weckstein and Nurse Paula ensured I and my husband's questions & concerns were always heard. They kept track of all my medication details, recommended a course suitable for my endometriosis and always followed up. After having 2 embryo freezing cycles at Stanford REI where we felt more like cattle and less like humans, it was a very welcome change!

Paula Miller was our assigned primary nurse. Her attention to detail, following up on questions, coordination and organized skills saved us from so much hassle! She was as critical to our IVF embryo freezing journey as much as Dr Weckstein himself. She would keep a very close eye on our injections, excellent notes, esp as the retrieval day got closer. I have since then recommended her for the primary nurse / case person any day and RSC to so many of our friends!

This time around, after some discussion with Dr. Weckstein, he decided to not overstimulate me with meds and informed me that we would retrieve less eggs as a result and he was right.
Clinic [RSC] is run very efficiently! Every single person you encounter is kind. The only thing I had an issue with was with some of the vaginal ultrasound techs. Overall, the ones I have seen are kind but not all are gentle. One in particular was rough...I think they all need to be told to go in gently as some of us are a lot more sensitive than others. I felt like one of them had the entire probe in me!!

He is honest and delivers news delicately. He explains everything in such a manner that you always comprehend and never leave the appointment confused. Our chances of retrieving a lot of eggs were not great and he let us know that. However, he kept saying all we need is 1 good one. After genetic testing he said that half would probably come back not normal due to my age....he was right. The whole time he kept us informed of what to expect but kept being optimistic for us. We got 1 genetically normal embryo back and he called me with the good news. All I remember his saying is that he was so happy for me. I cried and cried on the phone and I can tell he was genuinely happy for me too. He is a kind man. I know he deals with a lot of patients, but he definitely has fantastic bed side manners overall.

My last cycle 2018..egg retrieval didn't go as planned (after). We retrieved lots of eggs but I was overstimulated and ended up in the ER 3 hours after I left. This time around, after some discussion with Dr. Weckstein, he decided to not overstimulate me with meds and informed me that we would retrieve less eggs as a result and he was right.

My main nurse has been Valari for both cycles. She is excellent! Quick to respond to emails and voicemails. She goes above and beyond! Maybe that is her job for all patients but she makes you feel like you are her only patient. I love her. After we lost our first pregnancy at 5 months, she called me and left me the sweetest message. Even with the second cycle, she spoke nothing but kind and uplifting words to me. She is a wonderful soul!

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
That was my one issue with monitoring appointments. I felt as though they were only done during a certain time frame. I had a 3 hour drive to get to the clinic and sometimes those appointments were at horrible times. I would have to leave my house at 4am (to avoid traffic in the city) and get to my appointment on time. It seemed like mid morning appointments were never an option for me. Good thing is that sometimes I would get there so early that they would take me in. Other times, I would have to wait in lobby for my scheduled time. Their website also claims they have an office in Modesto but in fact they do not. That would have been so helpful for me because with each monitoring appointment I wouldn't of had to miss a full day of work. They informed me that that clinic in Modesto cannot get blood tests back in a timely manner or something along those lines. They need to come up with something so that it works for patients that travel from far away such as myself.

Dr Weckstein genuinely cares for his patients. He was realistic with our odds of success, but encouraging during our finally attempt to use our own eggs. His kind and caring nature, coupled with his expertise was a win all the way around for us. ... Based on my previous IVF cycles (1st resulted in 4 embryos all PGS abnormal, 2nd 3 PGS normal, one FET resulting in early miscarriage and 2 FET failures) and recurrent early miscarriage (7), we opted to try an aggressive protocol for egg quality. 300 Gonal F, 150 menopur, Ganirelix, estrogen priming pre-cycle (pills), HGH and testosterone priming patch (5 days starting CD 3)
Overall I’m very pleased with the clinic [Reproductive Science Center]. ... We opted for a 2 retrieval package for $33K (medications not included). We chose Dr Weckstein after reviewing others experiences through Fertility IQ and we were not disappointed! He’s a fantastic doctor. He has a tremendous amount of experience and is kind and compassionate as well. I was shocked when I sat down for our initial consult and he had already reviewed my entire (and long) medical/fertility history. He had specific/clarifying questions for me and answered all questions and concerns I had. We reviewed all possible options and he let us decide what our next steps were. We were never pressured into decisions or into proceeding with the clinic (which we ultimately did based on our experiences). He was the one to call with updates on our embryo development, etc which was appreciated as we didn’t get that with our other clinic. He was so supportive when having to give disappointing news and I truly value his compassion.

Based on my previous IVF cycles (1st resulted in 4 embryos all PGS abnormal, 2nd 3 PGS normal, one FET resulting in early miscarriage and 2 FET failures) and recurrent early miscarriage (7), we opted to try an aggressive protocol for egg quality. 300 Gonal F, 150 menopur, Ganirelix, estrogen priming pre-cycle (pills), HGH and testosterone priming patch (5 days starting CD 3)

All the nurses and staff were kind and sweet. I enjoyed casual conversation with them and they all performed their jobs very well.

I really like the clinic, I have to travel a very long distance for treatment (we live 4 hours away). Parking is easy at the San Ramon location. We were able to do some of our lab work at the Orinda location which was nice since it was close to my brother’s house where we were staying. Overall I’m very pleased with the clinic.

Dr. Weckstein is a very compassionate doctor. He is very empathetic in every interaction and even his tone of voice is soothing. He would call me when we had to discuss larger parts of treatment. This is a good sized practice and you aren't guaranteed to be with your doctor at the time of surgery. I got lucky and my retrieval was on a day Dr. Weckstein was there. However, I have full faith in this entire practice and would have felt confident with any doctor there.

At the time of my retrieval I was 31 years old with a low ovarian reserve and poor egg quality. We did a very high dosage of injections to try and get every follicle I had to stimulate. I had 7 eggs develop and all 7 were successfully retrieved-normal-and froze!

For my initial appointments and my surgery I was in the San Ramon office. I lived in San Mateo however and they did have a satellite office there. I was able to do all of my monitoring appointments in the San Mateo office during stimulation which made it very easy on me. I chose to see Dr. Weckstein so that is why I had to do my initial appointments in San Ramon. All of the surgeries are done in the San Ramon office as that is where their only surgery center is. The whole experience was very easy for me. I was able to snag an appointment that someone had cancelled on so it took me only about 2-3 weeks to get in for my first appointment. Everyone that I worked with at RSC was a gem. I couldn't recommend this place anymore. They are the best!

I’m still in my first cycle. He started me off with Estrace for two weeks and testosterone added on the second week. My cycle meds are Gonal F 300, Menopur 150 (first week) and added in Cetrotide and HGH on the second week. Triggering today for retrieval on Friday. Expecting 1-3 eggs total (6 follicles and I have diminished ovarian reserve).

Kayla was very compassionate but didn’t seem knowledgeable. Her phone calls left a lot to be desired. Her emails were too long and it seemed like she may not be used to caring for someone that is brand new to IVF. Example of a phone call- I asked her what Estrace was and why I would be taking it. Her response was that it produces estrogen, like my body does at some point.

Though I have to say that his father passed away & he had to leave town during my treatment & he made sure that he called me to tell me that another doctor will he managing me during this time. I wouldn’t expected anybody going through this to feel they have to call their patients during such a terrible time but he did. Even during such a difficult personal time, he was thinking about his patients. I’ll never forget that.

I can’t remember all the drugs I got or protocols. But w/my daughter she was a first time , 5day blast fresh transfer. I think I was on Lupron . To conceive my son, I went through 2 egg retrieval’s & the last one I remember he said they were throwing the kitchen sink at me because the first egg retrieval I didn’t have success, I was older as well & low ovarian reserve. I remember having to take testosterone which I thought was strange. But it worked. I had 2 blastocysts & one was my son.

A month later I was given letrozole, I responded great so i injected ovadril but there was a timing issue. I took letrozole again & did not respond. The 3rd time I took letrozole I didn't respond but was given 8 more to take at once and did respond great injected ovadril but did not fall pregnant. I just finished a round of provera due to no cycle for 90 days. I am scheduled for an HSG in a few days.

I found Dr. Weckstein to be extremely patient, knowledgeable, and candid. I explained that I thought I had an issue with my progesterone, he then explained that we would do POI shots and would monitor how my progesterone was doing. Every other doctor either scoffed at the idea that progesterone was an issue or said they would give me supplements. Dr. Weckstein referred to different research that pointed to carrying a baby to full term. I've been searching for a doctor to be on the forefront of this.
I did a Donor cycle, so I was put on minimum drugs [at Reproductive Science Center]...The nurses are amazing. Always happy, seem to love their jobs, and seem to really want their patients to succeed...The clinic is great! They have multiple locations throughout the bay area and make it convenient to do your cycle wherever it is closest to you. I found Dr. Weckstein to be extremely patient, knowledgeable, and candid. I explained that I thought I had an issue with my progesterone, he then explained that we would do POI shots and would monitor how my progesterone was doing. Every other doctor either scoffed at the idea that progesterone was an issue or said they would give me supplements. Dr. Weckstein referred to different research that pointed to carrying a baby to full term. I've been searching for a doctor to be on the forefront of this. I'm pregnant now, although very early, I've never been pregnant through infertility treatments and I've never had my progesterone tested. Well, it's a 56 and we are very happy about it. Also, I told him I react poorly to Lupron which he said no problem, we can do a cycle with the minimum and see how it works, and it worked great! positive test 3 days early. Every time I've mentioned something about my process he would find another solution, which every other clinic told me it was "their" protocol that I was paying for and that they wouldn't modify it.

I did a Donor cycle, so I was put on minimum drugs. Estradiol patches, 2 every 3 days, and progesterone suppositories, and progesterone oil shots once a night.

Dr. Weckstein highly advised us to only do a single embryo transfer. We went through 5 failed cycles, so I had no hesitation to do a multiple transfers, which he reluctantly agreed to. We ended up with only two blasts and we put two blasts in. I'm luckily pregnant, my betas aren't crazy so we think it's just a singleton.

Only downfall was because we are "young" we did not do testing in the beginning and had 2 failed transfers because of it. Wish we had pushed for more testing earlier.... They [SRC- San Ramon] did change their computer system last year and that was quite the hassle for patients and there new online system is confusing. Otherwise the equipment, people and lab is amazing. 1st was Egg Retrieval and Fresh Embryo Transfer-I don't remember much about this one. SubQ shots and vaginal suppositories. This ended up in Ectopic Pregnancy-not anyones fault. 2nd was FET-vaginal estrogen and then ended up on IM estrogen because my lining was not thickening. Then when uterine lining was 8mm started in vaginal progesterone and IM progesterone (had low progesterone before). This turned out to be a BFN. 3rd FET-Same as before but started IM estrogen way earlier and lining was perfect at first ultrasound.

Again, above and beyond. The classes with catherine were informative, the delivery of the meds from the pharmacy she recommended were amazing. They delivered our meds to our hotel while in dianeyland. They waited in a refrigerator until we arrived. Sara (with this current IVF cycle) has also been amazing. She was a listening ear when I miscarried. She was compassionate, sympathetic and encouraging when I needed it the most. She knows our family when we go in for labs and goes out of her way to see us before we leave. Catherine was the same way also. All around beautiful people in the right profession.

On our third and final IVF cycle, he gave us the option of transferring 4 embryos, as he stated they were perfect. He didn’t push, but left it up to us. We chose to transfer all four. One took, and we have a beautiful girl! In the two previous cycles, we unsuccessfully transferred 3 embryos.

Can't remember the first protocol but I had 10 eggs and none fertilized. The second go around I did a micro dose Lupron protocol. I had 7 eggs and 6 fertilized. 4 made it to day 5 and were graded exceptionally high.

I purchased a 2 fresh unlimited frozen package. Used the first fresh with no success in October 2015. Used the second fresh which resulted in pregnancy in January 2016. The package includes all the blood work and monitoring apts, egg retreival and transfer and freeze costs for 6 months. It was around $23,000. I also paid for ICSI $1750 My meds total for both rounds equaled $5500. Roughly $30,000 total.

We skipped IUI’s. Because we had done 5 with another dr. He thought why waste more time and money let’s Go to ivf but offered to try an iui cycle if I chose. We took injectable meds, watched closely, let the eggs mature and fetched them. We did a fresh day 5 transfer of two embryos and became pregnant with with 1. He had reccomended only one but still felt comfortable with a transfer of 2

Our experience with Dr. Weckstein was great. We found him to be extremely knowledgeable, thorough in his review of our case, and also compassionate. We started our IVF journey with Dr. Weckstein after several unsuccessful Clomid/Menopur and IUI cycles at Kaiser, and we have no regrets. Prior to IVF, we lost our first baby (conceived naturally) due to a rare fetal condition and were unable to conceive naturally again. In reviewing my medical history, he went out of his way to write a letter to our insurance company to justify coverage of the PGS screening for our embryos so we could avoid experiencing another loss. Because of this, we learned one of our Day-5 blasts was abnormal and would have ended in a miscarriage had we transferred it. At Dr. Weckstein's recommendation, we transferred a single embryo and we now have a healthy, beautiful 20 month old daughter. We are getting ready to transfer one of our 2 remaining frozen embryos with Dr. Weckstein this month and are hopeful it will be a successful pregnancy.

I would say that you should trust him because he is experienced and knows what he's doing.

For my initial IVF cycle egg retrieval, I started on birth control pills on CD3 and stayed on them until CD14. On CD15 I had a baseline sonogram. I started stimulation 4 days later and was instructed to start daily baby Aspirin 81mg, FSH (Gonal f) 300 IU, and Menopur 150 IU for 10 days, adding Antagon (Ganirelix) (250mg) to the stimulation meds for the last 6 of those 10 days to prevent early ovulation. The next day I was instructed to discontinue FSH, Menopur, and Antagon, but continued baby aspirin. That evening I was instructed to give myself a trigger shot (Lupron 2mg) subcutaneiously. The following day I started my Azithromycin pack and had my retrieval 2 days later. I ended up with 11 mature eggs - more than anticipated. Fertilization report: 12 Mature eggs => 11 fertilized with ICSI • 6/19 Embryo progress update: 7 to 9 'Day 3' embryos • 6/22 Embryo progress update: 4 'Day 5' embryos - sent in for PGS - results due next Wednesday 6/29 PGS Results: 3 good embryos - 2 girls/1 boy 1 embryo with Trisomy 9

My first case manager wasn't the best communicator, but she no longer works at the clinic and the case manager who took over my case, Sara R., is great. The nursing staff in general was and continues to be very friendly and helpful.

I found Dr. Weckstein and the RSC staff overall to be great. The only weakness with my first IVF cycle was that it was difficult to get through to my original case manager/the staff via phone, but I'm currently going through the process again for baby #2 and have found that this issue seems to have been resolved.

I had partial insurance coverage for the egg retrieval and first FET, so my out of pocket cost was about $12k for those 2 cycles. This included all the "extras" such as my share for the medication co-pays and opting for ICSI. I'm currently doing my 3rd FET (2nd FET ended in miscarriage) and the cost for the FET with no insurance coverage was approximately $5000 (medications included).

Dr. Weckstein encouraged eSET for us because he said I had good quality embryos and I was 36 at the time. He didn't want to create any unnecessary risks by transferring more embryos. Our highest priority was to have a healthy baby and give him/her the best chance possible for a full term delivery.
