I felt listened to and respected throughout the process [with Lucky Sekhon]...did not treat me like a statistic, but rather as an independent human...total of 8 euploids ready for eventual transfer...Her perseverance, calm demeanor, determination, and heartfelt compassion have left an indelible mark on our lives
Was hard to see the actual doctor we had for scans and ultrasounds [at RMA of New York]...nurses are highly communicative, available, and thorough...usually called me back within 3 hours...What could have been better was the way test results for karyotype were communicated
How was your experience with Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
She was the most incredible person to be with throughout this journey.
We are absolutely thrilled with the outcome of our second cycle—6 euploids! With a total of 8 euploids ready for eventual transfer, we are over the moon with excitement and hope for what lies ahead. This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without her unwavering guidance and support.
Her perseverance, calm demeanor, determination, and heartfelt compassion have left an indelible mark on our lives. She turned what could have been a daunting process into one filled with confidence and reassurance. We feel so fortunate to have been in her care—it was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. She is truly are a rockstar, and we’ll always hold immense gratitude for the role she played in our fertility journey.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
Listen to everything she says and be patient through this process! Also, be prepared to not meet with her as often or even have her do the egg retrieval procedure. It's OK! As long as she is the one reading your charts and planning the cycle for you, everyone else is qualified and skilled.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
I felt listened to and respected throughout the process. There was always time made for me to meet with my doctor and air out any stresses, issues, or concerns I had. After my first retrieval, we weren't happy with the end result, and hence brought it up with our doctor. Dr. Lucky did not treat me like a statistic, but rather as an independent human and walked through all the reasons this could have been the case, and strategized a plan for the next cycle.

The nurses are highly communicative, available, and thorough. Anytime I would call the clinic and ask to speak with a nurse, they usually called me back within 3 hours.
Describe your experience with RMA of New York.
Was hard to see the actual doctor we had for scans and ultrasounds. It was a quick experience, however, going in and out of the clinic for scans. What could have been better was the way test results for karyotype were communicated
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at RMA of New York.
I went at a time that was convenient for me. I usually had to wait for no more than 20 minutes from the time I arrived, except for one crazy busy day. I would go in and give blood and then be called in for a scan. The scan itself lasted around 5 minutes and was always performed by someone super kind and compassionate that showed me personalized care as per the doctor's instructions.

How was your experience with Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
I found Dr. Sekhon to be an incredibly compassionate physician who was attentive to our feelings and the sensitivity of the fertility treatment process. One thing I would like to highlight is that since going off the birth control pill, I was not only struggling with infertility, but unexplained weight gain and hormonal acne that I had never experienced before. I was essentially dismissed by my OBGYN and GP however within 10 minutes of meeting with Dr. Sekhon at our consultation, she presented me with potential reasons as to why this was happening and brought me to an exam room for an ultrasound to confirm if her hunch was correct. It was the first time I had felt heard/seen in months and I am eternally grateful for that.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
Ask your questions and voice your concerns. Nothing is too small and Dr. Sekhon is incredibly understanding, receptive, and open to walking you through the entire process in detail as long as you are communicative. Her nursing team is incredible but she will also answer your questions if you reach out directly to her.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
Once we started the IVF process, I felt like Dr. Sekhon was incredibly involved and here to field my questions/concerns. Her nurses were always in contact with me and one nurse I developed a relationship with came to my retrieval to help calm my nerves.
During the medicated cycles/IUI, I did feel a bit more like a number in the clinic as we were mostly communicating with the nursing team and would sometimes see other physicians due to scheduling.
Describe the protocols Lucky Sekhon used in your cycles at RMA of New York and their degree of success.
Prior to starting our treatment, I was sent for a HSG test to make sure there were not blockages
Cycle 1: HCG trigger shot, scheduled intercourse
Cycle 2: HCG trigger shot, scheduled intercourse
Cycle 3: HCG trigger shot, scheduled intercourse
Cycle 4: HCG trigger shot, IUI - moved to IUI after 3 failed cycles of scheduled intercourse to increase chances
Cycle 5: IVF - after a few failed medicated cycles, we felt like we wanted to move to IVF to have more control over our treatment.
- started with Gonal and then added in Menopur and Lupron. Triggered with HCG 36 hours before egg retrieval.
- embryos were created and we were notified of how many embryos were created after 24 hours and then again after 5 days. Embryos were biopsied and frozen on day 5. Biopsies were sent for PGT.
- started taking Estrace on day 2 of my next cycle even though PGT results were not back yet. 16 embryos were sent for PGT testing and Dr. Sekhon & team felt confident that we would have a healthy embryo for transfer
- notified of PGT results after ~2 weeks
- Estrogen levels were not where they needed to be to start cycle so we changed my dose and started progesterone injections the following week.
- notified FET was successful 8 days post transfer
- remained on progesterone and estrace for 6 weeks post FET and monitored weekly
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at RMA of New York.
Dr. Sekhon's nursing staff was amazing. Specifically, one nurse knew I was incredibly anxious for the egg retrieval procedure and came to my pre-op room to walk me through the process one more time and sit with me while I waited to go in. Over time, I developed relationships with the nursing team and I never felt rushed on my update calls with them, no matter how many questions I had.
My one comment would be that there were times where I would call RMA with questions and a nurse not on Dr. Sekhon's team would call me back and my conversations with them felt a bit disorganized as they were not familiar with my case.
Describe your experience with RMA of New York.
The wait times at RMA can be very long for monitoring appointments, no matter appointment times. However, the clinic is very flexible and will change your appointment location or time to what is convenient to you.
Additionally, if you need to get in contact with your team, it is best to get their direct contact information (phone/email) rather than call RMA directly.
I do want to recognize the front desk staff and technicians at RMA Soho who were always friendly and made me feel welcome.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at RMA of New York.
The wait times for monitoring appointments were long however the clinic is also very accommodating of changing your appointment time to better suit your schedule or seeing you at another location if that works better for you.
What specific things went wrong at RMA of New York?
Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
Failed to call with results
Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA of New York.
There were a few instances where I had a hard time getting in contact with the team regarding prescriptions being sent to the wrong pharmacy or not being called in. Both times I eventually did get my medication in time but it was very stressful. I also had an issue with not being called with sensitive results but receiving them via email. This was due to technical issues on their end but it was difficult as a patient.
it’s also comforting to know she [Dr. Sekhon] went through this exact process herself...She took an hour just to walk us through the biology & science behind IVF and in very clear ways for my husband and I to understand. She herself opted for embryo banking in order to preserve fertility, which is what my husband and I are looking to do, so it’s also comforting to know she went through this exact process herself...
[RMA of New York] Very organized and there are several locations for convenience. The Madison Ave location was very clean. Haven’t really come across any weaknesses as of yet but I have only been through my consultation...[nurse was] Very friendly, sweet and organized and asked what she could do to enhance our experience...

Another quick note, I had originally had an appt. set with another RMA Dr, but after reading reviews, I really wanted to work with De Sekhon, but her earliest appt wasn’t until Nov. She is very active on social media so I sent her an IG DM asking if she thought it would be too risky to wait until then since I have a looming 37th birthday in November - she responded so fast offering me a more immediate appt. since she had a cancelation from another patient who was already pregnant. Just another above and beyond action. She’s great!

$60 copay for Consultation but treatment will run me somewhere around $20k because insurance does not cover embryo banking unless you are deemed infertile, but I am doing this to prolong my fertility since I’m not yet ready to have a child but am close to 37. Sad that insurance doesn’t see a need to cover cost if you are simply not ready. The $20k doesn’t include $4k frozen embryo transfer.
I went through what was fortunately a very straightforward egg freezing cycle with Dr. Sekhon. The initial consultation appointment was very thorough, and left me with a clear idea of what to reasonably expect for someone freezing at my age (37). I saw Dr. Sekhon several times during my cycle, and each time, even during very brief monitoring appointments, she expertly balanced the straightforward sharing of information about how the cycle was progressing with empathy and care.
RMA is a well-oiled machine - they know what they're doing. Despite being a big practice, it was easy for me to reach my care team and everyone I spoke with throughout the process was calm and helpful...They [nurses] called me after every monitoring appointment, and all my calls and questions were returned and answered quickly and calmly. Their clear communication made the process run smoothly.

Her care and that of her team made a daunting process very manageable.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
I had to book several weeks out for both my initial consultation and follow up appointment, so be prepared for a possible wait. The time in the appointments moves quickly, and there's a lot of information to process - preparing questions beforehand will help you ensure you have all the info you need (and you can also email her if you need to follow up).

Dr. Sekhon gave a thorough overview of the egg freezing process, and made sure I knew how to reach her and her team with any follow up questions. She responded quickly to my questions, and her team was friendly and easy to reach, which helped make the process very smooth.

I had a very straightforward treatment plan for my egg retrieval - Gonal-F and Menopur for 8-9 days, followed by a trigger shot. Dr. Sekhon attenuated the medication after my monitoring appointments.

I was glad to be able to go into the clinic most convenient to my home during monitoring hours - I had to wait about 10 minutes once or twice, but it wasn't a big deal, and once I got in I was finished in under ten minutes.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York.
The cycle and included appointments was $9,500, the anesthesia for the retrieval was $950, the medications were approximately $5,500.
She [Dr. Sekhon] really listened to me and made me feel totally comfortable asking questions. I felt like a person vs. just another number. I appreciated how practical she is. I'm a worrier, but she put me at ease which is not an easy feat...She never made me feel rushed and I always felt that she really cared about ensuring I was comfortable...standard egg freezing cycle. I responded well the medication and completed my cycle within 10 days...
I found the whole staff [at RMA of New York] very caring and willing to answer all my questions. They were prompt in reaching out and I always felt at ease...Great location with nice facilities (love the downtown location), efficient (rarely had to wait more than 15-20 min during monitoring to have my ultrasound), friendly (even the blood-taking tech put me at ease about the needles I'd be using)...
How was your experience with Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
I met Dr. Lucky around my 31st birthday and decided at the time to hold off on egg freezing for a couple more years. Around my 33rd, I was no longer living in NYC and considered another, nationally known clinic - I had a horrible, disorganized experience and did not proceed with treatment. Several girlfriends had gone to Dr. Lucky and rated their experience 10/10 so I decided to make the journey to NY to work with her. It was absolutely worth it. She really listened to me and made me feel totally comfortable asking questions. I felt like a person vs. just another number. I appreciated how practical she is. I'm a worrier, but she put me at ease which is not an easy feat! No hesitation, she's the only fertility doctor I'd go to!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?

I had Progyny which covered the majority of costs.
We like that Dr. Sekhon took the time to get to know us, our goals, problems, frustrations, etc. She took the time to explain everything to us and made sure we were comfortable every step of the process. I think she genuinely cares about her patients. She took the time to speak with us on multiple occasions during off hours...We also appreciated how honest she was. She was always very quick to respond with any questions we had. We spoke and emailed with her after hours and on weekends. She quickly determined that the first method of treatment was not going to work for us and recommended IVF. Obviously this was a big decision but she made us feel very confident that this was the right decision and it worked out perfectly. She was consistently in touch with us, performed the egg retrieval and implanted the embryo. Overall, she was the perfect doctor for us on our journey towards having a healthy baby.
Our primary nurse [at RMA of New York] was Connie. She was excellent and also very responsive. She even came to our apartment to administer an injection because my husband was out of town. All the other nurses we dealt with were also great...Monitoring hours was our least favorite part of the experience with RMA. You could end up waiting up to 30 minutes and you are not sure what doctor you are going to see. They have so many patients that sometimes you feel like the doctor is a bit rushed. They also only have so much time to review your chart prior to coming into the room. The nursing staff and team that drew blood were incredible. Dr. Sekhon always let us know when she was going to be available for monitoring hours so we could see her. We always preferred that.

I was diagnosed with PCOS. We did 2 cycles of timed intercourse. Dr. Sekhon quickly determined that I had a hormone and that timed intercourse / IUI would not work. She recommended IVF. We did 9 days of hormone injections prior to the egg retrieval which resulted in 39 eggs. We ultimately got 15 healthy and genetically tested embryos. We successfully got pregnant on the 1st embryo transfer.

The thing that stood out to us is how large of a clinic this was. The positive part about this is that they obviously have great experience. Dr. Sekhon mentioned to us that whenever they are reviewing test results, discussing medication plans, etc. - multiple doctors are looking at it and coming to a decision as a team.
The negative part about the size of the clinic is something you feel like the specifics of your fertility issue might get a little lost in the shuffle. For example, we had certain coordinators or nurses call us that didn't really know much about our situation, which could be frustrating at times.
We'd just recommend that any new patient be an advocate for themselves. If you don't feel comfortable any point just get in touch with your specific doctor or nurse as needed.

All in we spent approximately $15,000-$17,000 including everything.
Speaking of just Dr. Sekhon and not RMA, I couldn't be happier with the care she provided, specifically during the IVF process. From even before starting IVF, she demystified the process for me and shared many stories that made me feel more comfortable with the process. She was patient with me, going through the timeline of events and what to expect in detail along the way.
I loved my doctor but RMA at times did feel like a factory and like I was a number. Some of the doctors were better than others. I wish I had been able to only see Dr. Sekhon but downtown office was not as convenient for me so I usually saw a different MD each visit at Eastside which made it feel less personal. Very clean during COVID and good screening process.

I did not see her every visit but I would travel further from UES to downtown often because I always felt better seeing her than other providers. She was warm, yet straight to the point. Great bedside manner. I trusted the care she was giving me. I also appreciate how available she was over email when I had burning questions that I didn't want to wait until the next appointment- this is huge when going through something so emotional/time consuming. While I wish I did not have to do IVF of course, I feel lucky to have found Dr. Sekhon, and I could not recommend her more.

She is an incredibly busy clinician with lots of patients. If you need her REACH OUT and she will be there for you.

Dr. Sekhon was kind, empathetic and very personal. She NEVER made me feel stupid for asking questions and always took time to explain the process in ways that made me and my husband understand. She was always available over email, including weekends and time off. We had shared decision making and made me feel very comfortable and supported. I trusted what she said because she never steered me wrong. I appreciated her candid but warm nature and her confidence provided me with comfort during this process. She also always asked me how work was and how my family was doing.

Once did not get a call with results and had to call myself. A few times never got an email for an appointment for monitoring (during covid).
Dr. Sekhon was always available for questions. She even called me back to discuss concerns while she was on vacation!... takes the time to explain her rational and the research behind her recommendations. She reviewed every single test result and scan even if she did not complete them herself...honest when we faced set backs and was willing to fight for treatments and approaches that were not “cookie cutter” but which she felt would yield the best outcomes.

Dr. Sekhon was always available for questions. She even called me back to discuss concerns while she was on vacation! Her approach was compassionate and available which was much appreciated.
Describe the protocols Lucky Sekhon used in your cycles at RMA of New York and their degree of success.
Originally diagnosed with unexplained infertility with healthy AMH so we started with IUIs as a less invasive treatment.
When we moved on to IVF, we started on low doses because we had responded well to Clomid. However, as it became obvious that I was a poor responder we adjusted medications each cycle (micro dose lupron, estrogen priming, lupron long cycle/fresh transfer) to maximize success.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of New York.
Connie is incredible. Always answered questions and made sure that I understood the results and next steps.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at RMA of New York.
It generally was very efficient. The weekends required longer waits because only the Eastside location remained open.
Your wait time really depends on the office you go to (Soho office was generally faster than Eastside)

Our total cost to ourselves was under $3k because our insurance paid for most of it.
Describe Lucky Sekhon's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of New York.
[Dr. Lucky Sekhon] really seems to tailor her conversations and treatments to the specific patient...answers all your questions and makes you feel comfortable...decided we would incorporate clomid into my protocol with injectables since I have an excellent response with that...did a closely monitored TI with a trigger shot and I fell pregnant...do not think it would've happened without her guidance, reassurance and just generally easing my anxiety
I see Dr Sekhon at the Downtown location [RMA of New York]. Its small and never overcrowded. I get in and out of the office quickly. Monitoring hours could be a little earlier...the midtown east location can be a bit of a cattle call...The receptionist at the downtown location could brush up on her people skills a little...[nurses] are very informed and answers questions with ease.
How was your experience with Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
Dr Sekhon is such a breath of fresh air compare to my last RE. She is kind, respectful, detailed in her responses and generally seems to care. She never makes you feel like you are a number. She really knows what she is talking about and is on top of all the latest studies and treatment options. She never just does something because that is just what is typically done. She really seems to tailor her conversations and treatments to the specific patient and really goes out of her way to make sure that she answers all your questions and makes you feel comfortable. She has also been through IVF herself so she actually knows what her patients are going through physically and mentally. I cannot recommend her more.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
Be completely open and honest with her. Tell her all the supplements you are taking, she will tell you which ones you actually need, unlike many who say you don't need to take anything. Ask her lots of questions in general. She will answer them all even if they seem ridiculous.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
Dr Sekhon really takes the time to talk to you and work with you on your treatments. She always responds to emails or calls in a super timely manner. She never makes you feel silly for asking questions and always respects when you advocate for yourself. She just really gets it and understands its not just the infertility that needs to be treated, its also the anxiety that goes along with it. She works really hard to set your mind at ease. She doesn't sugarcoat, but she is also not cold and matter of fact like many RE's are.
Describe the protocols Lucky Sekhon used in your cycles at RMA of New York and their degree of success.
We did 3 clomid and one gonal-f, then one clomid & gonal-f iui cycles with her that were all unsuccessful. We decided to go back to TI, while waiting to begin a very tailored IVF protocol. Dr Sekhon decided we would incorporate clomid into my protocol with injectables since I have an excellent response with that. I had 5 follicles with just gonal-f and clomid. We did a closely monitored TI with a trigger shot and I fell pregnant March 2020. My baby is due in November 2020. Thankfully this all happened since Covid would have absolutely set us back. Even though this pregnancy did happen "naturally", I do not think it would've happened without her guidance, reassurance and just generally easing my anxiety. Infertility takes away so much more than just your ability to have a baby. There needs to be more RE's like Dr Sekhon out there. She is your biggest advocate, and at the end of the day, that is what you need most on this journey. Not someone trying to hit numbers, but someone who really truly wants you to get pregnant no matter what.
Describe your experience with your nurse at RMA of New York. (Assigned nurse: Connie Schmidt )
The nurses on Dr Sekhon's staff are great. They always call you right back. They are very informed and answers questions with ease.
Describe your experience with RMA of New York.
I see Dr Sekhon at the Downtown location. Its small and never overcrowded. I get in and out of the office quickly. Monitoring hours could be a little earlier. 7:30 is a little late. But the midtown east location can be a bit of a cattle call, but I think that is true for just about every practice at the larger locations. The receptionist at the downtown location could brush up on her people skills a little.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York.
IVF is around 15k minus cost of meds and IUI runs around $350 w/o insurance.
Describe Lucky Sekhon's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of New York.
She said because we already had one child she recommends one embryo transfer since we do not want to have more than 2 kids.
Dr. Sekhon is incredibly kind and caring. She's able to deliver hard news thoughtfully and explain why and how certain things are happening in a clear way. Dr. Sekhon treated my husband and me as if we were her friends or family -- when we got bad news, she called us right away and when we got good news, she was cheering in our corner...We started off doing two IUIs, which were both negative, and then moved on to IVF. Dr. Sekhon closely monitored my protocol as PCOS can put me at high risk for OHSS, but everything was smooth. She was caring and thoughtful during our appointments and in every email exchange and phone call we had. After one failed transfer, we ended up doing a second retrieval and a second transfer, and I'm now 10 weeks pregnant. While it was a long eight months and one of the most challenging points in my life, I would do it all over again in a minute and much of that is attributed to Dr. Sekhon.
I adore Connie [nurse at RMA of NY] -- she was there for us every step of the way. I looked forward to her calls every day after monitoring and she answered all of my crazy questions and emails kindly and thoughtfully...It can be a bit of a wait for monitoring depending on what time you arrive, but once you are seen, it's very quick...Everyone from the front desk team to the nurses to all of the doctors are professional, kind and caring. The clinic has a great reputation and I know a number of friends who have experienced success there as well. The only drawback is that depending on the time that you arrive for monitoring hours, it can be a bit of a wait.
How was your experience with Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
My husband I are so grateful for Dr. Sekhon. After being diagnosed with PCOS, we knew we needed help getting pregnant and Dr. Sekhon came highly recommended. In our first meeting, she took the time to clearly outline the entire process and all of our options while answering every single hypothetical question we had. We started off doing two IUIs, which were both negative, and then moved on to IVF. Dr. Sekhon closely monitored my protocol as PCOS can put me at high risk for OHSS, but everything was smooth. She was caring and thoughtful during our appointments and in every email exchange and phone call we had. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
Ask a lot of questions! In my experience, you receive more information if you ask for it. Most doctors don't offer every point of detail but Dr. Sekhon will certainly take the time to explain the way things work if you show that you're interested and want to understand.

For both of the IUIs, I was on Letrozole and then Ovidrel as the trigger shot.
For IVF, I was on a combination of Gonal, Menopur, and Cetrotide and then the Lupron Trigger Shot. The dosages of the medications differed between the two IVF protocols.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at RMA of New York.
I know many people say that it's a cattle call, but I never felt that way. It is certainly a busy clinic, but I think that's attributed to their success and how many people want to be under RMA's care. It can be a bit of a wait for monitoring depending on what time you arrive, but once you are seen, it's very quick.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York.
Thankfully, my insurance covered every procedure and the medication.
Describe Lucky Sekhon's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of New York.
Dr. Sekhon told us that for my age (under 35) and good health, it wasn't necessary to do multiple embryo transfers.
When we spoke to Dr. Sekhon, she was warm and informative and great. But we rarely spoke to her unless we emailed to reach out proactively.... Dr. Sekhon is very informative and when we speak with her, she is thorough in her responses (vs on email sometimes we have to ask multiple questions to gain full clarity).... Visit the downtown office in Soho if you want to see her. You need to actively email her and set up a call to really gain clarity.
RMA is a factory and we are all just a number. There is no link between IVF coordinators and finance which resulted in miscommunication between them to me, and I had to pay for my first cycle out of pocket as we were still waiting for insurance approval. There have been other instances where a nurse called and told me to "take the trigger tonight, and see you on Sunday for the IUI" without mention of timing for either!
How was your experience with Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
We really like Dr. Sekhon when we speak with her, but it's rare. Our issue is mainly with RMA and how its run and the human error that occurs with the nurses on an almost regular basis. Dr. Sekhon is very informative and when we speak with her, she is thorough in her responses (vs on email sometimes we have to ask multiple questions to gain full clarity).

Describe your experience with the nursing staff at RMA of New York.
Our lead IVF coordinator was amazing. But the nurses that called with information each time after a morning monitoring were sometimes not clear with instructions / next steps.

Describe Lucky Sekhon's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of New York.
RMA does not practice multiple embryo transfer (or at least it was not an option given to me, although in conversations after my failed transfer, Dr Sekhon said she would petition to their board to consider a multiple embryo transfer with my history)

Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA of New York.
They have called without giving me full information. I also learned that the nurse told me one thing about my embroys and later on the doctor said that was not the right information.
At the end of the day, my IVF procedure worked and I am pregnant. I transitioned to Dr. Sekhon from a doctor who left the clinic and the transition was messy and often fraught with bad communication and lack of compassion...she’s not going to offer up the info if you don’t. Push back if something doesn’t feel right or clear to you. She is better over the phone than via email... treated me on a very ‘need to know’ basis. I felt often I didn’t have all the information and that she didn’t take into account the emotional toll of fertility treatments and the overwhelming waterfall of decision making that comes with if.
RMA doesn’t really allow the conversation of having more than one egg transferred OR discounting subsequent transfer cycles for patients under 35...At times in the process you can definitely feel that RMA is more concerned with their own stats than your individual patient case. They are rigid in their standards (which are top notch) but sometimes to a fault..The phlebotomist is really great at RMA! Also shoutout to Nurse Melissa who is lovely and often went above and beyond. I felt she explained things to me in a way doctor Sekhon was not capable of and always showed compassion. The coordinator, Jennifer, is sweet and was helpful but definitely inexperienced.

It was a cattle call and often created conflicts with work because they were completely inflexible. The front desk admin sent out bloodwork for the day multiple times before monitoring hours were over, leading to issues with same day results.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York.
I had insurance coverage that was capped at $10k for lifetime maximum so paid a few thousand out of pocket at least . I was ultimately able to get my medications covered but only because someone from Glow suggested I fight for it.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at RMA of New York.
The clinic and transition between doctors felt at times messy. In particular, the receptionist/admin had a terrible attitude and was hard to navigate.
[Dr. Sekhon] Seemed to understand my fear of time not being on my side for having children. Asked me how many kids I would like to have at initial consultation to know how to proceed treatment wise. Responded in a timely manner to all my emails. She called me personally to give me my positive pregnancy result which was unexpected and very appreciated...[her] approach was single embryo transfer...While she has many patients, I felt like my infertility struggle mattered
Strengths [of RMA New York] Early morning scan appointments making before work appointments possible. Multiple bloodwork fast and efficient. Helpful, easy to reach staff. Phone calls explaining results along with emails explaining medication instructions...responded to all my questions in a very timely manner. Weaknesses: mixup's can happen with co-pays. Ask for invoices to keep track.

Dr Sekhon was extremely warm, and in tune with my expectations and concerns. She always answered all of my questions in person as well as through emails. ... Dr Sekhon was extremely professional and explained the IUI process thoroughly during our ZOOM video visit. After getting the baseline Ultrasound she was able to explain further on how to proceed with our treatments( Clomid, Ovidrel ) She was always very kind and patient as I had a million questions, and which were always answered by Dr Sekhon. My husband and I completely trusted my care with Dr Sekhon as she was very thorough and explained in detail of our chances being pregnant. Describe Lucky Sekhon's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of New York.
Dr. Sekhon has deep expertise on egg freezing, and I felt as though I trusted her every step of the way. Even though RMA does have many doctors, Dr. Sekhon reviewed my charts everyday and was always available (and quit to reply) via email. I also deeply appreciated her artistry when it came to how much medicine to give, how to maximize the egg development without causing risk, etc.
RMA is the single most efficient doctors office experience I've ever had. They also have a large team, all of whom were incredibly knowledgable. Some may find the practice too large, but I personally found this to be a perk -- I was able to move monitoring appointments to the office most convenient for me, and I always got a quick reply to my questions. On top of that, RMA is affiliated with Mt. Sinai and has had a stellar reputation in reproductive health

Describe Lucky Sekhon's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at RMA of New York.
Dr. Sekhon preferred eSET
What specific things went wrong at RMA of New York?
For my last transfer which resulted in a successful pregnancy, Dr. Sekhon suggested we use a more toned down/natural protocol with less medication as it wasn't something we tried before. It ended up working for me...[she] is compassionate and has great bedside banners. I can tell that she truly cares about her patients. She is very evidence based and makes sure she listens to your concerns before prescribing a certain protocol.
In my case, RMA did not allow multiple embryo transfers...The downtown location is smaller than the one in midtown which I liked. I didn't have to wait too long for my appointments as it wasn't too crowded. It seems to be very well run. My only suggestion is to have the reception area a little more private so anything that is discussed with a patient remains a little more private and not easily overheard by those waiting in the waiting area.

I had single embryo transfers for all my transfers. In my case, RMA did not allow multiple embryo transfers. Though I understand why they didn't approve multiple embryo transfers for me, I would've still like that decision to be up to me.
I felt heard and seen. Dr. Sekhon is smart and always available to answer questions...takes her time reviewing everyone’s specific case...smart, detail oriented and caring...diagnosed me with PCOS, started me on metformin and noticed my thyroid levels were slightly elevated...adjusted medications during my cycle

I had a really amazing experience with RMA, where I went through the egg retrieval process with Dr. Sekhon. Her team was outstanding throughout the process--very communicative, supportive, and responsive. I was able to start the process when it worked best with my schedule, and was done after 12 days. I went to the Madison Ave location for my original consultation and procedure, and the Soho location for bloodwork during the process. I am extremely fortunate that my experience was so smooth, and I have recommended Dr. Sekhon and RMA to many friends as a result.

Dr. Sekhon had the best bedside manner of any doctor I have worked with. She is sympathetic and listened to all concerns...she was caring and compassionate throughout the way. She also answered my emails when needed which put us at ease...Don’t be afraid to ask questions. She never acts like a question is stupid...
The nursing staff [at RMA of New York] gave all of the medication instructions and helped answer any questions...there are multiple locations so you aren’t dealing with an office being closed when your treatment needs it. Despite it being a big operation, I didn’t feel like it was impersonal. They are pretty responsive and everyone for the most part was friendly. I did have one scheduling mixup for my IUI...
How was your experience with Lucky Sekhon at RMA of New York?
We saw Dr. Sekhon after 8 months of trying after a miscarriage. We tried one IUI (after doing two rounds with another clinic) and then went to IVF. Our retrieval resulted in 18 eggs with 4 genetically normal embryos. Our first transfer was successful and I am currently pregnant. Not only did Dr. Sekhon make us successful, she was caring and compassionate throughout the way. She also answered my emails when needed which put us at ease. Would recommend her to anyone looking for treatment!

Describe your experience with RMA of New York.
I like how there are multiple locations so you aren’t dealing with an office being closed when your treatment needs it. Despite it being a big operation, I didn’t feel like it was impersonal. They are pretty responsive and everyone for the most part was friendly. I did have one scheduling mixup for my IUI.

My treatments were mostly covered under my works fertility benefits
Dr.Sekhon was great from our first consultation. She clearly outlined all options and helped us decide the best path to take based on my fertility issues and our goals as a couple...You will sometimes see other doctors during monitoring hours but they are all great...she answered all of our questions and explained things in a way that made sense to a couple going through infertility treatments for the first time.
Strengths - well run clinic - even during the peak of covid they quickly adjusted their processes so treatment could resume in safe manner. Weakness - there are a lot of patients but this never was an issue from my perspective. Monitoring hours [at RMA of NY] were efficient and everything that I was promised the clinic delivered on..

[Dr. Sekhon is] Very knowledgeable and took the time to further investigate my particular situation and getting the appropriate clearance to have the retrieval so there were no complications. I felt like i could trust her and she genuinely cared...She was very thorough and took the time to check in with me via email before and after the retrieval
[the RMA of NY nurse] was really great but after she left i didn’t have one direct contact so it did get a little confusing in terms of who i needed to reach out to for questions...Loved the downtown location. They were always polite and well organized. They always ran on time and i never felt like a number. The Uptown location wasn’t as personal. It was always very crowded and i had to wait a while every time i went

Dr Sekhon was consistently helpful about explaining my treatment options and status, and even made me aware of some that I didn’t know were available and saved us months of precious time. She was always informative of options, pros and cons, and unknowns, sharing all the latest statistics but noting as appropriate how I was individually likely to be similar or different than the averages.
I generally found RMA both downtown and eastside very prompt for appointment times. Eastside is much bigger than downtown, so it does feel like a bit of a fertility factory as a result if no impact on the service level and in general probably helped lead to the efficiency...I loved all the nurses I worked with. They were consistently responsive, thorough, and supportive. Available via phone or email which was nice.

She [Dr. Sekhon] always greeted my partner and I, asked us how we were, made a point to say she was happy to see us. I felt like she was rooting for us. ... The treatment was not successful but I do feel like she gave me all the facts. She’s a realist, never emotional. I felt I could trust her and will be continuing on the next phase of my treatment with her.
Clinic [RMA of New York] was fine. The way they handle billing was slightly pushy. Generally good customer service. some of the staff who take blood are amateurs and every time I’d leave with bruises all over my arm. ... I had to call and tell them to send my prescription to the pharmacy. ... By my 3rd iui I felt the team was disorganized. I had to remind them once to put in my prescription. No sensitivity on the phone.
