Maureen "Moe" Schulte

Dr. Schulte is one of the kindest and most compassionate people I've ever met. She has a passion for fertility, and it shows. I feel like I can be completely open and honest with her, and she never ever makes me feel like my thoughts are too crazy. She is thorough and knows how to explain things that make sense to everyday people. I have never felt pressured to do things or complete cycles when I didn't feel like things were perfect. She has absolutely supported our journey and is willing to try anything to make sure her patients get the outcome they desire.

Be open and honest with her! Let her know your worries, frustrations, concerns, etc. She is very willing to listen to any concerns you have and make sure you both agree on a good treatment plan.

I conceived naturally, but ended up being a miscarriage. While I was not technically "under her care" since the pregnancy was natural, she still allowed us to come in for bloodwork, and even 2 ultrasounds to make sure things were progressing okay. When the miscarriage happened, we immediately got into contact with her to start a plan for IVF. Being that it was our 2nd miscarriage, she immediately wanted to run an RPL panel, as well as other testing before deciding on a treatment plan. Additionally, she strongly recommended PGT testing due to our prior losses (and knowing one for sure was genetic-related). Our first transfer we did a medicated cycle, along with Lovenox and baby asprin. Unfortunately that cycle was unsuccessful, so the 2nd cycle she recommended a natural transfer. I am now 4w3d pregnant from that transfer! I just felt very heard and that she was willing to try something else when things didn't work out the first time.

Sometimes monitoring appointments can be hard just because they do get busy, and you never know what kind of short-notice you're going to have to be monitored. It never seemed to matter though; the front office always got me in when I needed to be seen, regardless how booked they were. Once in the office, I've waited anywhere from 5-20 minutes to be seen (depends on how busy it is that day), but it's understandable as some things just take more time than others. I do like that if I'm needing bloodwork done along with an ultrasound, they will have me come do the bloodwork then go back to the waiting room. I like that they're efficient with things like that!

Thankfully I had Progyny insurance, but the quote we received for an IVF retrieval was $18,500. 1 frozen transfer ran $4,500. An ERA was $1,500. Each IUI we did through them was $1,850.

Due to my age, a single embryo transfer was recommended. STL Fertility seems to utilize single transfers far more frequently unless there is good reason.

Dr Schulte has been through fertility issues herself and that makes it more relatable and personable when a physician can share their experiences with you and truly understand what you are going through, instead of just saying they do. I feel she does care and wants the best outcome for me. The only weakness I have is at times, I do feel a little "rushed" in the room. I feel like I need to have all my questions readily available during the visit or she might be on to the next patient but I know they are busy and I try to have my questions written down and ready before my appts. Otherwise, I feel she is trying to help me build my family and truly cares that we make every effort to help that happen

They are a busy clinic and will answer any questions you have, but I recommend trying to brainstorm, research or write down any questions you might have prior to your appt to ensure you get to ask them and they get answered.

We attempted IUI 4 times, planned intercourse once before moving on to IVF. We have had 1 retrieval and 2 unsuccessful transfers with healthy embryos. We tried a fully medicated cycle and then a modified natural cycle with immunotherapy protocols without success. Unsure what we will try next.

Currently around $24,000 and counting as we still don't have our rainbow baby.

Extremely compassionate. Treated me like a intelligent person and made me a part of the treatment decision making process. Did not leave my husband out of the loop. Talked through options multiple times until I felt comfortable.

Down-reg with Lupron and bcp. Retrieval started with normal doses of Follilism and Menopur, decreased at checks due to follicle growth and bloodwork. Stimmed low and slow to increase chances of getting a good cohort of eggs maturing together, since we could only afford one retrieval.

About $10k for ER and 1 FET. $5k for meds for ER. $4k for 2 additional FETs, $2k for ERA testing cycle. $3k for surgery (at outside hospital, at Moe's recommendation for fertility purposes)

Strong preference for eSET. Explained why, including sharing relevant peer reviewed research. Compelling evidence, and I too now strongly prefer eSET.

From the moment I met her she was warm and friendly. She treated me like a new friend and she was very open and honest about my course of treatment. She was candid, yet comforting in advising me on my road to conceiving with and without the use of an egg donor. She spent as much time with me as I needed when any set backs occurred.

Be ready to hear the good and the bad news because she’ll be open and honest about your possibilities. In theory we may want a doctor to tell us we’ll all get a baby, but we need the ones who are honest about how likely that really is.

We did an ultrasound to see my egg quantity (3). I then started birth control. At my next cycle I started IVF drugs (Lupron, Gonal, & Menopur). I went in for a blood test and ultrasound the first week. It didn’t look great and we decided that if we were lucky enough we’d do a fresh vs frozen transfer since they wouldn’t have a lot to test. I continued the drugs for another week. Went back in for blood work and ultrasound. I only had one egg, so we canceled retrieval and I did the trigger shot and timed intercourse. No success. Covid-19 cancelled current treatments, but when we have the money our next step will be using an egg donor.

$3400 was my portion after insurance, $580 for anesthesia (didn’t use and still waiting for refund), plus additional copays for specialist office visits.

The entire staff at SIRM was a complete Godsend for my husband and I in 2019. I was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer at the age of 31. She was very thorough and would explain the entire process in a compassionate way. I always knew what to expect when I was in the office. She also knew what was happening in my life out of the office.

She is the most caring doctor and makes you feel ok while going through a hard process.

We started with letrozole and times cycles since I was able to get eggs with it and my husband had great sperm. After some failed attempts we tried one iui to see if that would help. After that we went to Ivf by choice since we wanted a baby sooner than later and was trying before seeing her for about a year. She was fine doing that with the other attempts failing.

Maureen was a very knowledgeable,sweet patient and understandable doctor who showed compassion and informed me of all the good and bad. Any questions I had she answered them truthfully but delicately. I could tell that she wasn’t there just for a pay check she didn’t rush me at all and made me feel very comfortable. She takes good care of her patients and respects there feelings and privacy.

If I can remember correctly for an IUI it was going to be 2500

In all honesty Dr Schulte is an amazing doctor. She was the first fertility specialist I been a patient of. So when meeting her I didn’t know what to expect. I was nervous,scared,angry, and sad that I even had to meet her. That’s because I didn’t understand why I was going through what I was to be young. She made me feel like everything was going to be ok and that she will be there for me. My overall experience was great being in a first timer to infertility.

I would tell them to make sure you express your feeling and you get all your questions answered

I haven’t had any treatments done only testing. When I came to her I had just found out my tubes were blocked due to me requesting an HSG test from my OB. I showed Dr Schulte my result from the test and she suggested I take another HSG. That’s because there were only 2 images and their wording wasn’t exactly saying their were blocked. So she wanted to make sure they were and if their were blocked she wanted to do a recanalization to see if we could get them open. We did the test over they were initially blocked at the uterus . They were able to get them open at uterus but couldn’t successfully get them open completely. After the test was over we talk and she told me that IVF would be the route I needed to take to have a child of my own.

Office visit I just paid my copay fee and the procedure insurance paid for their percentage and I paid the rest

I have never done any treatments

We are still in the process of IVF, actually just starting. I was seeing another Dr. For 2 years and they kept the same course of treatment without trying something new due to my testing coming back normal. Dr. Mo was extremely thorough and found our struggles to be male factor. She was very clear on the plan and has been quick to respond to questions, show care, and makes us feel seen. She makes us feel like she wants this just as bad as we do and that we finally have a doctor on our team. We are excited to start this journey with her.
