Dr. Abdallah did not seem passionate about his job. He was eager to give his spiel on infertility but not as eager to hear questions, though the questions I asked were answered...When taken into Dr. Abdallah’s office, I could plainly see his stack of papers (seemingly medical charts) on his desk. He proceeded to write/draw on a blank sheet of paper to try to initially describe to us what infertility and outcome probabilities are. My paper looked exactly like the others in his stack. While I understand, this may be his method of explaining things in a categorical and organized manner, it really made me feel like “just one in the stack.”
The [Aspire Houston Fertility Institute] front desk staff was absolutely unwelcoming at this Clinic and didn’t even smile the entire time we were there. She left her desk unattended multiple times while we waited 30-40 min in the lobby. I did not feel adequately prepared for the visit from the scheduling staff, as I was asked if I had filled out NP forms that were never sent/made available to me prior to the visit. The office was quiet and dull, though clean in appearance. There is a coffee bar in the lobby. I felt I had to ask a lot of questions to know what to expect next, and ultimately still didn’t know what exactly to expect next.
How was your experience with Mazen Abdallah at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic)?
Dr. Abdallah did not seem passionate about his job. He was eager to give his spiel on infertility but not as eager to hear questions, though the questions I asked were answered. Respectfully, his accent was difficult at times for me to understand; specifically, in speaking on the phone he said 14% which I heard as 40%. In this realm of calculating probabilities, that was a huge misstep. I called to speak with him directly and he called back at 5:01pm the same day. I missed the call but could not call back because it was after hours. I did not hear back for over a week and 2 additional phone calls to him later.

Describe the protocols Mazen Abdallah used in your cycles at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I did not pursue treatment with Dr. Abdallah after the initial consult and lab draw. I had a gut feeling and ultimately did not feel well cared for in this office.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
The nursing staff seemed quiet and not particularly patient-driven. Specifically, at 3:45pm the two nursing staff told me I wouldn’t be able to have lab drawn that day because the cutoff was too close. Upon further questioning and advocating for myself, they asked the lab tech “if we could still draw lab” that day. The cutoff was 4pm.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
Upon my first visit, a large volume of blood was taken for testing, both prenatal screening and genetic screening. I only got results for the prenatal screening after calling the office 3x. I never got the genetic screening results. Upon questioning, one nurse told me it wasn’t drawn and a second nurse told me that any genetic screening drawn in the month of March would need to be redrawn due to a Lab issue.
He [Dr. Mazen Abdallah] was always willing to meet with us last minute, and if he was at another location and you just don’t want to wait, he is willing to do phone consults as well...Dr Abdallah was so thorough and treated us like he knew us personally. He was very invested in giving us a successful cycle...He took the time to make sure we were comfortable, and understood every step of the process
[Houston Fertility Institute] is a well oiled machine. Their staff communicates, and never leaves the office without responding to emails or phone calls the same day. The support staff is also stellar. I had several appointments at cypress and piney point and never had a bad experience. Also, the nurses in the surgery center were amazing! From the operating room to recovery, they were all positive, upbeat and compassionate.

Dr Abdallah always took time to meet with us, explain every step of the process and was an amazing doctor for us. We were with another clinic that didn’t even take the time to properly diagnose us. Dr Abdallah was so thorough and treated us like he knew us personally. He was very invested in giving us a successful cycle.
Describe the protocols Mazen Abdallah used in your cycles at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I have endometriosis and a diminished ovarian reserve. We did 3 rounds of IUI (insurance didn’t pay for IVF so we wanted to try IUI first), the. Moved to IVF. Even with very few follicles, he was able to retrieve 4, and created 2 embryos. We did a fresh transfer on day 3, which resulted in a successful pregnancy.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
I had two main nurses that I worked with at Cypress and 2 others when I visited Piney Point. All nurses were incredibly professional and willing to answer questions and were compassionate. They got to know me personally and made sure I had all of my questions answered in a timely manner.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Mazen Abdallah at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
Costs varied and I was lucky that most of my procedures were covered by insurance.
[Dr. Mazen Abdallah] has been very thorough will helping us figure out different issues that we have with infertility...ended any questions or concerns we had about prior diagnoses and answered them with positivity of what the diagnoses was...wanted us to redo hysteroscopy to find out for sure and turns out I do have unicornate uterus...got us comfortable with the fact of possibly needing donor eggs...has been very kind and patient with my husband and I. He’s always been very considerate of our situation.
She [nurse at Houston Fertility Institute] was very kind. I know that I most definitely contacted her atleast twice a day, she always answered my questions and was very nice and compassionate during my cycle...HFI was pretty considerate and consistent...we have currently spent $18,000 for donor eggs cycle and waiting to transfer my 1 day 7 embryo...The ONLY issue I have with HFI is they don’t really help you financially.

I’ve had a lot of different answers and diagnoses during this entire process and none of them made sense or added up... Dr. Abdallah ended any questions or concerns we had about prior diagnoses and answered them with positivity of what the diagnoses was... for once, everything made sense to us.

Describe the protocols Mazen Abdallah used in your cycles at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I was diagnosed with unicornate uterus 4 years ago with then another doctor to tell me my uterus was normal and MRI that stated was normal as well... dr Abdallah wanted us to redo hysteroscopy to find out for sure and turns out I do have unicornate uterus. I’ve had 2 prior IVF cycles with low AMH and poor egg quality, both retrievals only resulted with 1 5 day blast, we transferred both two separate times and both resulted with negatives. Dr. Abdallah got us comfortable with the fact of possibly needing donor eggs... we purchased 8 frozen eggs... we didn’t have anything to transfer on day 5, we were sent home on our transfer day, sadly... nothing day ... day 7 we got 1 blast and had to freeze due to covid19.... but being that it was a day 7, the odds are probably not in our favor.

Describe your experience with Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
HFI was pretty considerate and consistent. I wish it could be more 1 on 1 but unfortunately infertility is huge, bigger than myself and it would be selfish to think for it to be any other way. The ONLY issue I have with HFI is they don’t really help you financially. I was pretty much told that if my 1 day 7 donor egg embryo doesn’t work, I’ll be paying ANOTHER $16,000 for another round of eggs.. which is exactly what I paid for the 1st round. I feel as if that is not very fair, especially being that I was sent home on transfer day with nothing to transfer only to get a day 7 embryo which the chances are very low for this embryo to implant.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Mazen Abdallah at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
I’ve had 2 own eggs cycles with another doctor other than Abdallah... we spent $20,000+ for those cycles.
With Dr. Abdallah we have currently spent $18,000 for donor eggs cycle and waiting to transfer my 1 day 7 embryo.

Dr abdallah has always put my well being first and i respect his thought process and decision making
I have been a gestational carrier in the past and used Dr. Abdallah for my transfer then, and when my husband and I went to see him for IVF for ourselves Dr. Abdallah took the time to explain every detail to my husband. He answered all of our questions honestly and with respect. He even emailed me to see what my husband thought and if we had any questions that had popped up after we left his offices.
They [Houston Fertility Institute] are very easy to work with and accommodating. Appointments are easy to get with any doctor and location. The staff is very friendly as well.... They [the nursing staff] were always just a phone call or email away and replied quickly when I had questions. Ordered meds and had refills available so that I would not run out.... Dr. Abdallah was very thorough in explaining the ins and outs of IVF to both my husband and myself. He truly cares about his patients and their success in getting and maintaining a pregnancy. Describe Mazen Abdallah's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
He prefers eSET over multiple embryos as he feels that the risks of multiples outweighs the chance of having to do more than one transfer. He truly cares about the patient and how their bodies will react to a multiples pregnancy.
He [Dr. Mazen Abdullah] said due to my quality we'd transfer 2...I was never contacted unless I asked a question. I only saw him twice, consult and after failed retrieval...He was a poor communicator and spoke very fast. He mumbled...I felt that he pushed for donor eggs because that was easier for him to get a success. He was very mellow which is nice but I didn't feel important. There was no enthusiasm in his work...IUI was gonal alone with a trigger. We had several follicles but it didn't work. I was not explained the reason for the protocol until I asked a nurse.
IUI [at Houston Fertility Institute] was gonal alone with a trigger. We had several follicles but it didn't work. I was not explained the reason for the protocol until I asked a nurse...She [nurse] is very kind and responds fairly quickly...The IUI was around $2k...Strengths- multiple office locations, no matter where your doctor is stationed you can go to any location, generally well organized. Weakness- not very personal care, staff seems to turn over, patient load is too high...I was never contacted unless I asked a question. Dr. Abdallah ran tests and SA and informed us right away of our results and what our chances would be with each cycle whether it was natural and medicated or IUI. He is very friendly and knowledgeable.... We were given all options when we first started treatments. We began with medicated natural for two cycles then on to IUI. After no success and more blood work we were told that our only option was IVF due to low AMH.
I really didn't find any weaknesses [at Houston Fertility Institute- Memorial Hermann] per say. Everyone was always very helpful. Only negative was that we didn't conceive during our cycles which doesn't reflect on the clinic staff. Anytime I needed help or had a question about my menstrual cycle or symptoms leading to miscarriage they were always willing to answer.... All of the nurses that I worked with or spoke with on the phone were knowledgeable and friendly. If they have the answer right then they would call me back within the same day.

I have being using Dr Mazen Abdallah as my fertility doctor for 2years now. He recommended IUI. Have heard 2 chemical pregnancy, 1 miscarriage and 1 no pregnancy. Still trying to conceive. Overall Nice doctor but his team treat you as numbers...Injectable IUI cost $2800 and medication cost about $1000-$1,200...Very difficult to reach...Try other doctors too then make a choice
The strength of this clinic [Houston Fertility Institute] is that they have good doctors, nice and neat environment. Their weakness included always changing staff, expensive and make you feel like you number. They also show little or no compassion...Injectable IUI cost $2800 and medication cost about $1000-$1,200...Very difficult to reach medical team when I have questions. They hardly pick call nor return calls

We came to Dr. Abdallah asking him to try IUI again. He explained the low odds of success but came up with a plan to be more aggressive than our previous IUIs and helped us to complete a cycle of IUI at our request before moving on to IVF. He was patient and thorough in all of our conversations. I appreciated that he sat down with us and reviewed our whole case after the IUI and discussed how we could personalize the next treatment for us....
I love Rene [nurse at Aspire Houston Fertility Institute]. She was so kind when she called to give the results of my IUI, and has been by my side the whole way answering questions and explaining everything in detail. She appears to be very knowledgeable of fertility treatments...We will be back once ready to expand our family again - we completely trust and love Aspire and Dr. Abdallah...

Describe your experience with Aspire Fertility - Houston Fertility Institute (Prelude Network clinic).
My husband and I were so happy with Aspire HFI. We were originally referred to another fertility clinic but were unhappy with our experience there. Aspire was everything we had wanted and lacked in the first place. We will be back once ready to expand our family again - we completely trust and love Aspire and Dr. Abdallah!
