She [Dr. Merry Lynn Mann] has a great personality, didn't really click with mine or my husband's but we can't complain too much about someone being bubbly. We're just a little more low key and serious especially at these appointments. We didn't feel like the communication was great between what we wanted and what we were doing. The plan wasn't always clear, and explanations and details weren't given when things changed.
We've seen so many different [Alabama Fertility Specialists] nurses at every visit. We've been very displeased with the way we've been treated. I think they should go through special training about what's appropriate to say and/or ask. Our time and money doesn't seem to be of any importance. There have been a couple that were nice, but we only saw them once or twice...We've ordered unnecessary expensive medicines, made unnecessary appointments, wasted time at appointments waiting to hear results that were later messaged to us anyway after the doctor reviewed them.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Merry Lynn Mann at Alabama Fertility Specialists (formerly ART Fertility Program of Alabama)?
At the end of each appointment go back over what you've been told as you understand it to make sure everyone is on the same page. She would almost say too much to answer a question, and what I really wanted/needed to know was lost in the long answer.
Describe the protocols Merry Lynn Mann used in your cycles at Alabama Fertility Specialists (formerly ART Fertility Program of Alabama) and their degree of success.
I've had 5 OI cycles. The first with Clomid and a trigger shot, by the second we had switched to Letrozole with no trigger shot because we wanted to do them unmonitored. We've done a total of 8 IUIs. The first using a trigger shot only due to lab results for both of us. For the second I was able to add Clomid. The third included Letrozole, Follistim, trigger shot and progesterone. The fourth we did Follistim only with a trigger shot and progesterone. The fifth through eighth was the same regime as the third. The only difference is what day I started Letrozole and Follistim and of course the day of trigger and IUI. I had a good response with all cycles, at least one follicle, usually two, and sometimes three. No correlation between more meds and more follicles. I don't know the rationale, wish I did understand that part.

Describe your experience with Alabama Fertility Specialists (formerly ART Fertility Program of Alabama).
The location was the best thing about this clinic and why we chose it. My OBGYN referred us, but we decided to go with it because they have a location that was a little closer to home for all of the monitoring appointments. Be prepared to wait.
Describe Merry Lynn Mann's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Alabama Fertility Specialists (formerly ART Fertility Program of Alabama).
She never entertained the idea of doing more than one, was always against it, didn't really discuss it at all with us, didn't ask what we wanted. Turned out we only had two so of course we only tried one at a time.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Alabama Fertility Specialists (formerly ART Fertility Program of Alabama).
We've ordered unnecessary expensive medicines, made unnecessary appointments, wasted time at appointments waiting to hear results that were later messaged to us anyway after the doctor reviewed them. We weren't informed of different pharmacy options that could be less expensive or be offering discounts. I've had to message back and forth about prescriptions being called in to our local pharmacy on time and to the right one.

I have never felt so cared for by a physician before...we felt so much more at peace because of how in depth [Dr. Merry Lynn Mann] was at explaining our diagnosis and prognosis with treatment...We had 2 hours of just talking with her...She did not rush us at all and never mentioned money. She was not pushy...answered all of our questions.
The clinic’s [Alabama Fertility Specialists (formerly ART Fertility Program of Alabama)] communication is unmatched. I’ve never had an office that was so great at responding so timely. Their attitudes are always positive. They never make you feel dumb or like you are a burden...[Nurses are] Professional. Kind. Compassionate. Upbeat...Around $14,000 for egg retrieval, transfer, and genetic testing.

Describe the protocols Merry Lynn Mann used in your cycles at Alabama Fertility Specialists (formerly ART Fertility Program of Alabama) and their degree of success.
We have not been through the entire process of IVF yet, but we have started the process. I have been diagnosed with Stage 4 Endometriosis. My chances with IUI are very low but my chances with IVF are much more promising. We have egg retrieval in one month.

Describe Merry Lynn Mann's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Alabama Fertility Specialists (formerly ART Fertility Program of Alabama).
Dr. Mann is very clear in her approach with eSET. She is not opposed to 2 embryos but told us we would have to have a very in depth conversation discussing all the very serious side effects with it.
