Dr. Scheiber is a very caring doctor that is invested in his patients. He is accepting of all situations, and is willing to work with challenging situations. He is optimistic, which is refreshing while going through this process.... He always took a lot of time with us, was very caring, and personally reported test results to us sometimes.... We started with clomid cycles and IUI's. After the first 4 didn't work, Dr. Scheiber suggested IVF, but it wasn't an option for us because of finances. We continued with IUI's while also having a HCG test somewhere in there to make sure everything was working properly. The test was normal and we saved up enough money for IVF. We did one egg retrieval with follistim. Then we had one fresh transfer of 2 embryos that didn't result in pregnancy. The very next cycle we had a frozen transfer of 2 embryos that resulted in a twin pregnancy and successful birth of 2 girls.

[Dr. Michael Scheiber is] Very realistic but also optimistic. He is very honest. Always positive and on time with appintments. Would recommend to anyone. 3 locations and they try to help make everything convenient for the patient.

He [Dr. Michael Scheiber] made us feel comfortable and made us feel like it was all possible when we were thinking it wasn't. He never gave up hope that we'd get pregnant. He was very knowledgeable and I would go back to him in a heartbeat... He started us out on a low dose and increased because he wanted to make sure we gotbwhat we wanted with the least amount of medicine. And when it didn't work, he sat us down and discussed next steps
I didn't like that you always had to leave a voicemail [at Institute for Reproductive Health] and they would call you back. Strengths were that they were very confident in their abilities. He [Dr Scheiber] was great and open to answering any questions we had. Sometimes he seemed rushed but he clearly sees a lot of patients....I used follistim, menopur, and cetrotide. He chose this based on my pcos. I overstimulated but they expected this to some extent and treated me with IV meds on retrieval day as well as oral meds at home but I cannot remember the name...They [Cincinnati Fertility] are very organized and efficient. We had issues with thawing during our first FET and I always wondered if there was a problem in the lab, but I have 2 beautiful children because of them.

I feel like he [Dr. Michael Scheiber] didn't take the time to explain stuff to us; after I have done tons of research and found that he should not have even allowed me to attempt IVF because my AMH was so low and FSH was way to high. He acted like we would be successful after round one... He didn't take time to explain anything I was in the dark the entire process; he added ICSI after we had already paid and never said it was extra so I was surprised with over $2,000 bill.
I feel like they [Institute for Reproductive Health- Cincinnati] should get to know you as a person find out your needs, explain bloodwork and the process. Let me know what my blood work means, tell me what the ultrasounds show, not just be back in 2 days and we will draw more blood and do another ultra sound... Overall, it was a very positive experience. We liked Dr. Scheiber and are happy that we went to him. He was highly recommended. He was caring and seemed like he genuinely wanted to help us start our family.... He was caring, but we sometimes felt dismissed with some of the questions we had.... He gave us the option of going with one or two. We knew we’d be happy with twins, so we went with two. Our big surprise came during our first ultrasound when we found out that one embryo split and there were three babies! We were not prepared for that.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health.
It’s expensive but that is not specific to this clinic - IVF is expensive in general.
He's [Dr. Michael Scheiber] very likable. I like the guy. He has a good manner. But we just haven't had any result.... We did IVF, we did the genetic testing, he offered some other approaches but didn't really recommend them.... He says the single embryo is better but there's a case for two after we have a few losses... I'm not sure about the back office operation either because they constantly have problems with billing and, more importantly, with remembering our timelines and treatment plans and what notes should be in the file.
They [Institute for Reproductive Health- Cincinnati] need to work on making people feel like a person not a number. I don't know what else I can say. If we got a baby out of the deal, I would feel differently, but they haven't gotten us there and they have some real problems.... I'm not sure about the back office operation either because they constantly have problems with billing and, more importantly, with remembering our timelines and treatment plans and what notes should be in the file.
How was your experience with Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health?
I don't know. He's very likable. I like the guy. He has a good manner. But we just haven't had any result. I'm not sure about the back office operation either because they constantly have problems with billing and, more importantly, with remembering our timelines and treatment plans and what notes should be in the file.

Dr. S [Dr. Michael Scheiber] was compassionate and truly cared about us wanting to start a family... Very knowledgeable and medication and course of treatment Wish he was a little more knowledgeable and gave a better picture of success with male factor. He had obvious knowledge, but never got into the statistics about success rates with severe MFI
[IRH's] Strengths are organization, knowledge, and compassion. I did not like that I had to leave a message everytime I needed to call. I wish there was a live person that I could’ve talked with. I also wish the partnership with the pharmacy they use for IVF meds gave a larger patient discount... Sarah that did our medication training was great!... I only had one embryo to transfer the second time. Because it failed two were transferred the second time and that resulted into a single pregnancy...Dr. Scheiber and the staff at IRH were very thorough and helpful when I had any questions. How was your experience with Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health?
Dr. Scheiber and all of his partners were wonderful. All were very professional and thorough and answered all of my questions gladly. I would highly recommend all of the doctors at IRH. I have been trying to conceive for over 8 years with no luck until I became a patient at IRH. I drove over 200 miles one way to my appointments to see these physicians.

Describe the protocols Michael Scheiber used in your cycles at Institute for Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
The first cycle was standard IVF stimulating with Follistim and menopur and ganirelex for suppression along with Ovidrel trigger shot. Production of 9 eggs, 4 fertilized, and 1 grade A day 3 embryo. Fresh transfer and negative pregnancy test.
Second cycle used ICSI. Stimulated with follistim and menopur and used Lupron for suppression as well as Ovidrel trigger shot. 9 eggs were collected, 7 mature, 3 fertilized, all day 3 grade B embryos. 2 embryos were transferred fresh and 1 embryo grew into a blastocyst and has been frozen for later use.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Institute for Reproductive Health.
The nursing staff was very helpful and thorough. They answered all of my questions and always called me back the same day when I called with questions or concerns. They never hung up until after they asked if I had anymore questions and they ensured I knew what I was supposed to be doing and what was going on. They made the process much easier and less stressful.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health.
My first treatment was covered under a parental hope family grant. I only had to pay for my medication which was around $3000. The second ICSI round of treatment cost me $9800. IRH helped me with some of the medication cost and I was able to get my medications for around $1800 for the second round of treatment.
Describe Michael Scheiber's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Institute for Reproductive Health.

We did IUI 4 times and then moved on to IVF [with Dr. Scheiber]. We can't afford IVF again so he moved my medication for this new round of IUI to clomid instead of femara...I was hoping to have multiple embryos transferred but the doctors felt there was one that stood out from the others and they said it was best to give the one good one a chance. I sometimes wish I had really asked more for multiple even though none of them ended up making it to blast stage in the dish.
The nursing staff [at Institute for Reproductive Health - Cincinnati] gets you in for your appointments on time. They are very friendly and sensitive to situations you may be going through. I've always found them very professional...Regular office visits were $35, total cost for IUI treatment including myself and my husband ran about $400, and the entire IVF cycle with medications was about $15,000...One thing I wasn't expecting is seeing all of the doctors at random. I thought I would be with the same doctor throughout all of my treatments, obviously with having someone fill in from time to time if they weren't available, but mostly having the same one. I've seen all four doctors and they are all great but I just wish that would have been explained upfront to help set expectations.
How was your experience with Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health?
Dr. Scheiber took a good amount of time to have a consultation with my husband and I. After several failed IUIs and one blighted ovum he took us to the next level of treatment which was IVF. I'm glad he had us move on to something else realizing that the first method wasn't working out as hoped.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health?
Fully use your time while you are there for a visit. Ask your questions during procedures or check ups.

Our insurance doesn't cover any fertility treatments. Regular office visits were $35, total cost for IUI treatment including myself and my husband ran about $400, and the entire IVF cycle with medications was about $15,000.

Dr. Scheiber made us feel like humans by using our names, asking how we were, shaking our hands, and being consistent through our our treatment. The only way we felt like a number is based on the short amount of time of each appointment...I wish we had discussed having a diagnostic procedure done such as an HSG before moving forward with donor sperm due to the cost of donor sperm. We did an HSG after 4 unsuccessful medicated IUI’s. It made me feel like we wasted vials and had to switch donors to move forward.
I am 28 in good health with no known fertility issues, after 3 medicated IUIs femara and ovidrel, an HSG was recommended to explore reason for not being successful, the diagnostic procedure found no concerns with my Fallopian tubes or uterus, we then tried a fourth unsuccessful attempt medicated IUI with femara and ovidrel. We were then recommended for IVF [at Institute for Reproductive Health]...didn’t notify me of having a nurse practitioner instead of doctor Scheiber for one of my ultrasounds which I was surprised and caught off guard. You also cannot reach someone directly you are required to leave a message and then wait for a call back.
How was your experience with Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health?
It’s hard to trust someone in this very sensitive process. However, Dr. Scheiber was kind, consistent and confident in his manner when meeting with us. He also was always warm and understanding when we displayed strong emotions just providing us with all the information his recommendation but allowed for us to feel like we were making the decisions. Having him as our doctor makes me feel more calm in a setting that I naturally feel very anxious.

We were then recommended for IVF, we were offered to do double IUI with injectibles but our doctor expressed concern about high risk for multiples and IVF being safer for my body. Based on cost comparison, percentage of success; we decided to do IVF. We have male factor because of donor sperm female couple but other than that I at this point have unexplained infertility.

They should have a mental health person/social worker, feels kind of like a fertility factory in ways. Definitely need to have someone be able to answer the phone it creates more stress constantly playing phone tag and waiting for call backs.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health.
125 for a consult, 300 per unltrasound, 250 per IUI, 92 per ovidrel shot, 275 per Sperm wash, we did four cycles that way. It may cost us 2200 for the HSG we are waiting on the bill currently we have also spent 7,000 in donor sperm so far.
Describe Michael Scheiber's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Institute for Reproductive Health.
I don’t have any experience with this. We talked about transferring the most of 2 embryos if we make it to that stage with IVF.

Provided conflicting information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Institute for Reproductive Health.
Well the surgery coordinator pre authorized our HSG with the hospital quoting that it would be covered at 80 percent but when we called insurance we were told it wasn’t covered at all. We found this our day of the HSG and in decided to move forward but had the information been correct could have saved money because we are self pay doing the procedure in the clinic instead of the hospital.
Dr. Scheiber is currently treating us with femara, ovidrel and IUI. His rationale for starting there was that since my husbands sperm analysis came back not as good as it could’ve been, combined with my problems he believed IUI would work for us...Speaking to him almost felt like talking to an old friend. He made starting this whole process under his monitoring very easy for us and for that I am very appreciative.
The clinic [Institute for Reproductive Health] is clean. They explain everything that is expected of the patient. Everyone is welcoming and nice. The only negative that I have to say about the clinic is that when you do call it is hard to speak to a live person right away. Typically you have to leave a message and they will call you back if it is left before 4pm. That is the only negative that I have encountered.
How was your experience with Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health?
My experience as a patient of Dr. Scheiber has been nothing short of amazing. From the very beginning he made me and my husband feel very comfortable. Talking to him about our problems felt like talking to an old friend. He took his time with us to understand our problems and what led us to requiring further fertility treatment. Before the end of our first appointment he wanted to complete a full assessment of me, lab work and an ultrasound. He was straight forward about my diagnosis and very upfront about costs and expectations. I would recommend this doctor to anyone experiencing infertility issues.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health?
Go into the appointment with an open mind and open ears. Prepare to be upfront and honest with the doctor because he will be the same with you. Come prepared with any questions that you may have. Try not to be nervous because you will instantly made to feel comfortable, wondering why you were so worried to begin with.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health?
I never felt like a number to this doctor. After getting referred to a reproductive endocrinologist I felt like our infertility journey got real. I couldn’t believe that we were heading down the road of needing extra assistance to get to our ultimate goal of having a baby. To say that I was nervous before our first appointment is an understatement. In the days leading up to the appointment it was all that I could think about. On the day of our first consultation upon first meeting Dr. Scheiber my nerves instantly melted away. He was very personable and took his time with me and my husband. He listened to our concerns and wanted the full back story on what lead up to seeking treatment from him. He devised a plan for us and was very up front and honest about the entire process. Speaking to him almost felt like talking to an old friend. He made starting this whole process under his monitoring very easy for us and for that I am very appreciative.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health.
Dr. Scheiber from the beginning was very transparent and honest about the expected costs associated with he treatment that we were receiving. I never felt deceived or lied to. Which I definitely appreciate.
I do remember that at my last scan, he [Dr. Scheiber] could see I had a LOT of eggs and was worried I’d have issues after retrieval. So instead of taking all of my ovidrel the night before retrieval, he had me take a small amount of that mixed with another drug that was shown to help reduce inflammation after retrieval. Whatever he did worked, because I had no issues after retrieval and we were able to do a fresh transfer...explained to us that based on our embryos grade, plus my age and health of my uterus that we had a VERY good chance of getting pregnant. He said if I transfer two that because of my size, I’d most likely have trouble carrying twins, so for the health of me and the baby he recommended just one. We are so thankful we listened to his advice.
They [Institute For Reproductive Health] know what they are doing and are almost like a well oiled machine. They all work very well together and are very professional. Their compassion goes a long way...The nursing staff are just as passionate about their jobs as the doctors. They love to celebrate your success with you. Nurse Melinda was the one with me during egg retrieval and transfer day. She called me the day of my beta with the results and told me she wrote down when my beta day was because she wanted to be the one to call me with good news. It touched my heart that she felt that invested and excited for me!
How was your experience with Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health?
Dr. Scheiber clearly cares about his patients. He always came in, addressed you by name, shook your hand and sat down to really take the time to explain things and listen to ALL questions. He was happy when things were going well and clearly loves what he does.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health?
Dr. Scheiber was so great with us. He was the second doctor we were seeing, after two failed rounds of IUI. Our doctor was leaving the practice and we didn’t like the other doctors in the practice. We went to IRH because we heard good things about them and knew their results were good. He took the time to do a consult, examine me again for his own evaluation and then told us our best shot was to go straight to IVF. He said usually they wouldn’t allow us to do the money back program because of how bad my endometriosis was, but he fought for us with the rest of his team and talked to the board to get us approved for it. Luckily it worked after just one cycle, but it gave us piece of mind to know we had a certain number of tries to have a successful live birth. We had our son in March 2017 and ended up getting pregnant on our own, not even trying, in May 2018. We went back to him for the first few weeks and he was happy to take us under his care even though he didn’t actually help with this pregnancy. That definitely made me feel like more than just a number.
Describe the protocols Michael Scheiber used in your cycles at Institute for Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
I have stage 4 endometriosis in both ovaries, he knew this could cause issues with my egg quality when retrieved so he was very careful during retrieval to try and avoid the large cysts. He did have to go through one of them to get some of my eggs and explained that this could mean they were basically contaminated and wouldn’t fertilize. Well it ended up working out and all 24 eggs retrieved were healthy. During my cycle I don’t remember all the medicine I took, but I do remember that at my last scan, he could see I had a LOT of eggs and was worried I’d have issues after retrieval. So instead of taking all of my ovidrel the night before retrieval, he had me take a small amount of that mixed with another drug that was shown to help reduce inflammation after retrieval. Whatever he did worked, because I had no issues after retrieval and we were able to do a fresh transfer.

They are a very successful clinic. They know what they are doing and are almost like a well oiled machine. They all work very well together and are very professional. Their compassion goes a long way and the fact that they host a “baby reunion” every other year shows just how much they love the OUTCOME of their jobs. Not the money they are making.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health.
We paid around $20,000 for the IVF money back guarantee program.
Describe Michael Scheiber's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Institute for Reproductive Health.
Dr. Scheiber was great with us for our transfer. My husband and I went into it thinking we wanted to transfer two. He said if I transfer two that because of my size, I’d most likely have trouble carrying twins, so for the health of me and the baby he recommended just one. My Dr [Dr. Michael Schneiber] went over every option possible and discussed all of our concerns at length. He recommended 2 embryos be transferred each time due to my high rate of misscarriage but was never pushy and the decision was ultimately my spouse and mine...could not have been more personable abd caring or invested in my care than he was...He celebrated every gain with us and grieved the hard losses. He was truly a god send to us during an extraordinarily difficult time.
This clinic [Institute for Reproductive Health] is great at what they do. They are so innovative and tailor your cycles to you, its not a one size treatment fits all. There are now 4 doctors at this clinic and all are fantastic. On occasion my physician would be out of the office or my transfer would fall on a wknd and I would be placed with a different physician and I could tell they had read up on my chart and were knowledgeable on my case prior to meeting me. It is truly a fantastic office!
How was your experience with Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health?
Dr. Scheiber is everything an infertility doctor should be. He was always honest and upfront with us and when cycles weren't progressing as planned he made fast adjustments to medications to "save" the cycles. He believed in us and our goal to have children when we had given up. He kept the faith abd helped restore ours when we temprarily lost ours. We felt he was truly invested in our mission to have children. He celebrated every gain with us and grieved the hard losses. He was truly a god send to us during an extraordinarily difficult time.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Scheiber at Institute for Reproductive Health?
Dr. Scheiber could not have been more personable abd caring or invested in my care than he was. I'm 100% positive I would not have continued through so many cycles and have my beautiful children it weren't for him. When my husband and I grieved, we felt he grieved with us.
Describe the protocols Michael Scheiber used in your cycles at Institute for Reproductive Health and their degree of success.
My 1st 3 cycles were strictly Clomid, with a trigger shot and timed intercourse. We then moved to femara with a trigger shot and IUI for 3 cycles. I used estrace vaginally during 1 of the cycles due to prolonged spotting and blood in my uterus close to the day of trigger shot. The last cycle resulted in a chemical pregnancy. I then moved on to IVF. I did follistim i believe, i believe 16-18 eggs were retrieved and we ended with 4 embryos with ICSI. My 2nd IVF fresh IVF cycle I did follistim but Menopur was added as well as I was prescribed a baby aspirin in thoughts i was forming a small clot that stopped blood flow to the embryos as a cause for my miscarriages although I tested negative for a clorting disorder. That cycle resulted in approx 12 eggs and we ended up with 4 embryos with ICSI. We implanted 2 of those embryos and I continued with a baby aspirin up until delivery of 2 healthy babies. During ebery transfer I was also prescribed endometrin tablets.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Institute for Reproductive Health.
Everyone was so kind and caring. I was extremely nervous our first IVF cycle with the injectable medication and they were always so happy to answer any questions or concerns I had. They made everything super easy to understand she kept my schedule of medications on an easy to read calendar/flow sheet.

He made the whole IUI/IVF process much easier than we had anticipated...My husband has poor sperm morphology so Dr S had us do 2 IUI cycles with femara and ovidrel. Both attempts ended in negative tests. We recently started IVF...egg retrieval got 23 eggs, 14 fertilized, 1 fresh 5 day transfer, 4 frozen embryos. Waiting for our BFP
Timely appointments, quality staff, givers of hope and granters of wishes. The IRH clinic is nothing but wonderful. Nurse lines to call and nurses to email, doctors to answer Any and all questions. Experience and understanding all around...All of the nurses were wonderful from the beginning. Patient, kind, attentive, my list could go on and on. The nurses were informative and on top of things!...IUI costs were around 1100 including meds and IVF (fresh round) 12,000 including meds.

He [Dr. Michael Scheiber] called personally when we had our two failed cycles and with our miscarriage he offered to do the dnc the next day for us since we traveled 5 hours to see him. He called to check on me every step of the way and his nurses offered help and meds when I couldnt get them from a pharmacy in time... He takes the time to know his patients and strives to give you what you came for and explain procedures and your options. He gives you choices and suggests what he thinks you should do but you dont have to follow his recommendations. He will test for everything from the start and do deeper testing if a pregnanvy does not take or stay.

With Dr S[cheiber], we did 3 IUI's. We used chlomid and Ovidrel. Each cycle produced a few eggs but unfortunately none of the treatments resulted in a pregnancy... took his time to answer any and all questions my husband and I had. He was very thourough and empathetic towards our want to grow our family... During an IUI, Dr S was explaining everything he was doing and would talk about lighter things to try to ease the pain and make me think of things other than the vulnerable spot my husband and I were in. We were so appreciative of his humor and efforts and although we never got pregnant with treatments, we will be forever grateful for the way Dr S treated us.
Wow! This clinic [Institute for Reproductive Health] is top notch in the Cincinnati area. It's so clean and up to date! Everything is wonderful at this clinic! I've been to others and nothing compares to IRH! We were so uneducated in infertility, but the staff at IRH really took their time to make sure we were always well informed...They treated you like family instead of a number. They were always willing to help and always made us feel comfortable.
