From the minute my wife and I met Dr. Traub and his staff we were welcomed and ensured of a plan for our fertility journey. Dr. Traub was very knowledgeable, thorough, and honest. He answered all of our questions and emails promptly. Every appointment we had went smoothly. The day of my transfer Dr.Traub and his team made me feel calm and well taken care of. We had a successful IVF transfer this past month and from start to finish it was a truly amazing experience.

Compared to my first treatment with a different fertility clinic, my protocol with Dr.Traub was effortless. I was on progesterone, estrodial, prednisone, baby aspirin and a prenatal. I was given direct instructions throughout the entire process.

Dr. Traub was knowledgeable and approachable...It was easy to book appointments and Dr. Traub was available to answer questions and address my concerns via email. After my egg retrieval, he kindly spoke to me about my results and walked me through what to expect, which was extremely helpful...used Gonal-F and Menopur for my stims, with Cetrotide starting about halfway through stims. I triggered with Novarel and Lupron. Overall, a total of 19 eggs were retrieved, with 15 being mature, which created 12 embryos that were sent out for genetic testing...
It was very easy to communicate with the treatment team [at Island Reproductive Services] and I felt supported throughout my process there...I never had to wait very long. Everything seemed really well organized. If you needed both bloodwork and ultrasounds, it felt seamless and you could be out of the clinic within 15 minutes, which is great if you're rushing to go to work...I had communications with several members of the nursing staff and they were all lovely. A majority of my interactions were with Sally and she was really compassionate and encouraging...
How was your experience with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
Dr. Traub was knowledgeable and approachable. He listened to myself and my husband and was able to provide a treatment that was the right fit for us. It was easy to book appointments and Dr. Traub was available to answer questions and address my concerns via email. After my egg retrieval, he kindly spoke to me about my results and walked me through what to expect, which was extremely helpful. As it is time to transition to my OBGYN for care, Dr. Traub made sure to explain everything to me and get all the information my obgyn needs for my treatment. Although IVF can be daunting, I had a great experience with Dr. Traub.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
Don't be afraid to ask questions, as he's very patient and supportive.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
Dr. Traub was very reassuring during all of my early testing, especially when he saw I was nervous. He was very approachable and took time to understand how I came to the decision to have IVF (previous history of two ectopics).
Describe the protocols Michael Traub used in your cycles at Island Reproductive Services and their degree of success.
We used Gonal-F and Menopur for my stims, with Cetrotide starting about halfway through stims. I triggered with Novarel and Lupron. Overall, a total of 19 eggs were retrieved, with 15 being mature, which created 12 embryos that were sent out for genetic testing. This was my first and only egg retrieval. We decided on a FET, which happened the same month as the retrieval. I started taking estrace and progesterone prior to the FET. Although i don't recall the timing, I was also taking prednisone until about week 7 of my pregnancy post transfer. Baby asprin was started the day after the FET.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Island Reproductive Services.
I had communications with several members of the nursing staff and they were all lovely. A majority of my interactions were with Sally and she was really compassionate and encouraging.
Describe your experience with Island Reproductive Services.
Strengths: Ease of booking appointments, organized, good location, modern, clean Weaknesses: None stick out to me. Overall, a good experience. This was my first experience with IVF, so I wasn't sure what to look for in a clinic, but I do highly recommended this clinic. It was very easy to communicate with the treatment team and I felt supported throughout my process there.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Island Reproductive Services.
I never had to wait very long. Everything seemed really well organized. If you needed both bloodwork and ultrasounds, it felt seamless and you could be out of the clinic within 15 minutes, which is great if you're rushing to go to work.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services.
Our IVF was covered by insurance. However, if for some reason we were denied, I believe costs were estimated to be around 13k (Retrieval, transfer, bloodwork, ICSI, cryopreservation, PGD biopsy fee), but that wouldn't include medications.
Describe Michael Traub's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Island Reproductive Services.
We had never considered transferring multiples, so we did not have this conversation.

Dr. Traub always spends as much time in the room as the patient needs. He always answers questions very thoroughly and explains the treatment in detail in a way that is easily understandable and approachable...so far I have done 3 IUIs with [him]. It was the first time a doctor didn't judge me based on my weight. I felt heard and whenever I went to doubt myself, [Dr. Traub] would quickly reassure me that he can help. The consultation was thorough and detailed...he did not want to put my body in any other harms way, and believe to transfer on embryo at a time...His strength is his timely communication. For example, when I would email him from home at any hour on any day, I would get a response almost immediately.
[the Island Reproductive Services nurse] is very friendly in person, and seems different in person vs on the phone. She is also very direct and made me feel confident in the instructions she gave me...They always answer your calls, and you always feel comfortable when interacting with everyone, from the technicians to the Phlebotomists. The phlebotomists is quick and efficient. The office building itself is kind of run down and a little sketchy, but once you walk into the office, you have a better vibe with their updated décor and furniture.
How was your experience with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
Dr. Traub was extremely compassionate to my husband and I. He would make me feel heard, and provided incredible detail of all the procedures I had. He was confident, compassionate, patient, and took his time to make sure I was comfortable. I feel like he is on this journey with us, and is just as invested as we are. His strength is his timely communication. For example, when I would email him from home at any hour on any day, I would get a response almost immediately. I have never had a doctor provide that type of resource. He was definitively the first doctor to not judge me based on my weight. Other doctors saw my limitations as a liability, yet not matter what I faced, Dr. Traub found a way to find a solution. Even though the 3 IUIs and 3 IVF cycles I have had did not produce a child, I still remain hopeful since the doctor is invested in the plan he has for me. There were not many weaknesses that I had to deal with in my experience. I appreciated his direct, yet warm delivery.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
I would tell a prospective patient to be persistent and persevere. Dr. Traub remains approachable, and if for any reason, you have concerns or are unclear of the direction your journey will take you, just ask your questions. I assure you he will answer then without judgement and a whole lot of hope.

Describe the protocols Michael Traub used in your cycles at Island Reproductive Services and their degree of success.
Genetic Testing to show any issues between my husband and I. HSG- results showed a blockage in my left tube, which led him to believe I may have endometriosis. Further surgery is needed to determine diagnosis Saline Sonogram-results were normal 3 IUIs: Letrozole for a week, then trigger shots, ovidril, along with Lovenox (since I have Factor V Leiden) 2 full IVF cycles that was from July-October. Currently preparing for another egg retrieval. I am day 2 of stim drugs at the highest dose. 3 powder vials of menapur and 525 units of Gonal F. After my retrieval, the plan is to have an hysteroscopy to determine why implantation is being compromised. If in fact it shows I have endometriosis, I would assume I would prepare for more surgeries in the future. I had a mock transfer cycle to prepare for my ERA after my first transfer failed, which showed that I need an extra day of Progesterone. Drugs included for every procedure: Metformin and Adipex (phentermine) to help me bring down my weight Gonal F and Menapur, Ganirelix, Clomid, Lovenox, azithromycin, prednisone, Ovidrel, Lupron, progesterone in oil and estradiol.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Island Reproductive Services. (Assigned nurse: Sally)
Sally is very approachable, yet I feel she is a little unorganized. I had issues with some prescriptions being sent to the incorrect pharmacy. She wouldn't remember my protocol and would have to get back to me after speaking to the doctor. I also felt like she tries to rush me off the phone. She is very friendly in person, and seems different in person vs on the phone. She is also very direct and made me feel confident in the instructions she gave me. She was extremely comforting after I woke from my retrieval and answered all the questions I had.

Super quick and efficient! I was able to be in and out, and never waiting long in the waiting room. Leslie is amazing. She is warm and welcoming, and makes you feel very comfortable while performing the ultrasound. I would get my results every time around 1pm.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services.
$500 for each IUI.I had to pay $2500 for my egg retrieval, $200 for each tested embryo. $20 co pay for every visit
Describe Michael Traub's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Island Reproductive Services.
Due to my high risk in my weight, as well as my diagnosis of Factor V Leiden, he did not want to put my body in any other harms way, and believe to transfer on embryo at a time.

From our first consultation we could tell Dr. Traub was genuine, kindhearted, and authentic...Any questions or concerns they were there to respond with care (even over the phone or through email)...we had our 3rd failed IUI. We then had the choice of taking a break, another IUI, or our first round of IVF...we decided to do our first round of IVF...[he] informed me of some success stories of only needing one great embryo, but mentally at that time I was preparing for the worst. With great patience, love and science my one embryo stuck!

How was your experience with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
My husband and I have been trying to have our first child for four years. Honestly we held off on seeking professional consultation for infertility due to my health issues and all the horror stories that we’ve heard. We were at the point that if results came back too invasive then we would take some time to heal and possibly adopt in the future. After some research, we reached out to Dr. Traub. We figured it wouldn’t hurt to go to the first visit. From our first consultation we could tell Dr. Traub was genuine, kindhearted, and authentic. We truly loved his honesty and putting things into detailed perspective. In September 2021 we had all necessary check ups, bloodwork, and tests for both my husband and I; we spoke about our potential options. Late November 2021, we had our 3rd failed IUI. We then had the choice of taking a break, another IUI, or our first round of IVF. After much thought, we decided to do our first round of IVF with complete hesitancy. Luckily, Dr. Traub and his staff/team are absolutely amazing! Any questions or concerns they were there to respond with care (even over the phone or through email). The training on how to administer shots was very helpful as well. Late January 2022 eggs and sperm were retrieved. After all testing only 1 embryo was considered viable. With this emotional rollercoaster, my husband and I agreed in taking a fertility break after this round. March 1st embryo was finally transferred. Staff and Traub informed me of some success stories of only needing one great embryo, but mentally at that time I was preparing for the worst. With great patience, love and science my one embryo stuck! I’m currently starting my 5th month of being pregnant. We are still over the moon! All are healthy and well! I know every person’s story is different, and I remember reading billions of reviews (being skeptical). My only suggestion is do everything at your own pace, if you have questions then ask, and don’t hesitate to at least make that first visit. Thank you Dr. Traub and team 💗

Overall, working with Island Reproductive Services was amazing! I would definitely recommend them to new inquiring patients. As I said prior, I was quite skeptical about the process and nervous about what sort of results I would find. With time, knowledgeable staff, organized appointments, commitment, patience, and care we were able to reach a successful round.

The best part under Dr Traub was communication...he always responded within half hour...I was given the right diagnosis and realistic numbers with male and female infertility factors. He made it look like there are chances even after factors that contributed in no pregnancy for us in last 3 years. He made sure to still try with IUI before going to IVF and when we started IVF , the medications were tailored to my response.
The nursing staff [Island Reproductive Services] has always been helpful with my questions or care...Weakness: The financial team and coordinators...Because of them we paid out of pocket for the medications which were actually covered by our insurance. The main coordinator was out of office and nobody realized there was pre authorization from my insurance company pending for approval which costed us 3K out of pocket.
How was your experience with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
The best part under Dr Traub was communication, even though every visit with him was related to the procedures performed that day but all questions asked that time were answered and those which were unanswered were covered through contacting him on emails which he always responded within half hour.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
Ask as many questions as you like. Doctors can’t tell you everything until you ask them

Describe your experience with your nurse at Island Reproductive Services. (Assigned nurse: sally)
The nursing staff has always been helpful with my questions or care. Nidhi, Leslie at NJ office were efficient and helpful always. Ultrasounds were a breeze with Leslie. She was gentle and caring and always greeting me with smile at my appointments. They were always ready to accommodate with timings even if I got late for my appointment. Nobody rushed me through any of my ultrasounds. Sally and Melissa over phone were always there and helpful in instructions
Describe your experience with Island Reproductive Services.
Strength: Dr Traub’s knowledge and putting effort to make it happen. The nurses with their ability to communicate all the details and instructions with care. The ability to contact Dr Traub anytime of the day with any type of questions. Weakness: The financial team and coordinators. You need to make sure that the medication is covered or not through your insurance. Don’t rely on them solely to contact the insurance company. Because of them we paid out of pocket for the medications which were actually covered by our insurance. The main coordinator was out of office and nobody realized there was pre authorization from my insurance company pending for approval which costed us 3K out of pocket.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Island Reproductive Services.
It was well oiled machine. The appointments were scheduled for the morning schedule well before the office timings so it wasn’t an issue at all for me. 15-20 mins at max with minimal wait time. Leslie did my usual ultrasound monitoring at the south Plainfield office and she was gentle and efficient every-time. Very cordial and always smiling.

The Ivf cycle including transfer costed around 13K Monitoring ultrasounds were covered by insurance Ivf medications costed 3K PGT was out of office service costing $100 per embryo plus shipping. Freezing embryo for 1 year costed $1200
Describe Michael Traub's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Island Reproductive Services.
Yes my doctor had a strong approach towards eSET because of health implications to the mother and baby. He was determined towards single transfer and educated us on the positives of it
What specific things went wrong at Island Reproductive Services?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
  • Provided conflicting information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Island Reproductive Services.
As i mentioned before about the goof up with the finance department over my ivf medications pre authorization approval. They failed to put another person in charge when the coordinator handling my case was out of office which resulted in 3K out of pocket expense which is a huge deal.

I did a second retrieval this year [with Dr. Jain] in which Clomid was added in since my FSH was borderline high. Otherwise I took Menopur and Gonal-F for stimulation and then Cetrotide to prevent premature ovulation when the time came...I was on Medrol and Doxycycline and had been on Lupron for a few weeks prior. I have a history of failed transfers so that’s why we tried the Medrol. I have endometriosis so the Lupron helps with Estrogen suppression.
The only negative thing I would say [about Island Reproductive Services] is that morning monitoring hasn’t been as efficient as it used to be. It’s a longer process and can be stressful if you’re trying to get to work. Otherwise the clinic is great- short wait times for appointments and staff is super friendly...They [nurses] are compassionate and kind. They help in whatever way they can and never seem annoyed or bothered by questions.
How was your experience with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
Dr. Traub is very knowledgeable and always takes the time to answer my questions. He is also available by email in case something comes up that I need to ask quickly. He always included me in the decision making and would clearly explain the various options. Couldn’t ask for a better doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
I would say to trust that is making the right decisions for you, and ask questions if you don’t fully understand- he is more than willing to answer questions.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
He doesn’t use a “one treatment fits all” approach. He individualizes care based on the patient and it’s clear he is prepared before his consults with his thoughts and ideas for next steps. He also includes patients in the decision making.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services.
Thankfully I had insurance coverage this time so I paid about 3k for genetic testing, storage costs and coinsurance fees.
Describe Michael Traub's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Island Reproductive Services.
He is definitely an advocate for single embryo transfers if they are genetically tested.

[Dr. Michael Traub] always answered all my questions (big and small) at our appointments and even by email! We feel very comfortable with him...had two laparoscopy / robotic procedures done by him for endometriosis, fibroids and tubal blockage...sent me for a ton of tests before any treatment and really does purposeful work in my opinion. We’ve done IUI’s and IVF. We have our beautiful 2 year old baby girl through IVF.
[Dr. Michael Traub] and his staff [at Island Reproductive Services] truly care for their patients. He answers emails in a very timely manner, no matter how silly you may think your question might be. I needed my prescription one evening and the pharmacy gave me an issue and my doctor himself, called cvs pharmacy and fixed it for me. He is human and treats you like one too...Bloodwork and ultrasounds for monitoring are done at two sites on Staten Island from 6:45AM to 8:30AM. If it’s only bloodwork, you can walk in. If it’s bloodwork and ultrasound, it’s an appointment during that time.
How was your experience with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
He is extremely knowledgeable and always answered all my questions (big and small) at our appointments and even by email! We feel very comfortable with him and never had a bad experience. We really think he knows best for us and our situation. I had two laparoscopy / robotic procedures done by him for endometriosis, fibroids and tubal blockage. He’s sent me for a ton of tests before any treatment and really does purposeful work in my opinion. We’ve done IUI’s and IVF. We have our beautiful 2 year old baby girl through IVF. I am forever grateful to him. We always recommend Dr. Traub to our family and friends. I always go to my appointments prepared with questions and never get to them since he always answers them first! He reads my mind and is an incredible doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
He will always be professional but you may not like what you hear. He is direct sometimes blunt and will always go over options with you but sometimes the news isn't what you want to hear but it’s what you need to hear.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
He and his staff truly care for their patients. He answers emails in a very timely manner, no matter how silly you may think your question might be. Describe the protocols Michael Traub used in your cycles at Island Reproductive Services and their degree of success.
For our miracle daughter, our IVF cycle started with 6 estradiol pills / 2 inserts / 2 progesterone tablets / 1 baby aspirin / 1 lovenox shot daily. As time went on, we adjusted progesterone and estradiol as needed. I had appointments often to monitor how my body was reacting to the medication and at around 6 weeks pregnant, an ultrasound to confirm the heartbeat.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Island Reproductive Services. (Assigned nurse: Nurse Sally was really our primary nurse. )
Nurse Sally and Dr. Traub are an incredible team! She is a human, compassionate, caring and absolutely in the right profession. She walks you through how to administer shots or dosage on meds and has you repeat it and really wants to make sure you’re supported throughout the process.
Describe your experience with Island Reproductive Services.
There are two doctors here. Everyone I know who went to Dr. Traub felt similar to how I feel about his care. Those who went to the other doctor either liked him and had decent results or did not like him at all and had a bad experience due to his poor bedside manner. If there’s a wait for you to see Dr. Traub, I would recommend waiting to begin treatment with him. I’ve spoke with and met the other doctor before and he doesn’t have a good bedside manner. He does gets back to you quick if you need anything on the weekend since Dr. Traub is not in the office on the weekend (although accessible by email) but other than that, I am so happy we ended up with Dr. Traub right from the start!
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Island Reproductive Services.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services.
Full price for a frozen embryo transfer is $4,000.00. We had insurance partially cover other costs with our treatment.
Describe Michael Traub's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Island Reproductive Services.
He seems to only do eSET. This is probably my own experience as I began this journey at 29 and I’m now 32. He wouldn’t transfer more than one embryo for me due to the risks of multiples. The goal was to have a live birth and a safe pregnancy.

He [Dr. Michael Traub] believes one embryo at a time is best so minimize any unnecessary complication...he will call you back himself immediately. I have even had to bother him for medication renewals and such on a holiday and he still gets back to you (just maybe after his run)...was wonderful to work with. Kind, caring, explained everything in as much detail as I requested...most importantly treated my husband and I like a person ALWAYS and not a number. He is intelligent and an expert in his field and will go out of his way for you to have a baby. I thank God for him and his knowledge every day.
Leslie in the NJ office [of Island Reproductive Services] was a "Do it all". From front desk to sonograms to phone calls she was doing it all. It was actually really nice because over the course of my care we got to know each other and it made it less stressful...PGD and embryo cryopreservation cost about 2000-3000 depending on how many embryos you had...The New Jersey office can use some updating but to me it's more the doctor and staff that matter than the decor. Both offices were spotless. All staff members are friendly, efficient, and caring. You can tell they enjoy their work and treat patients from their heart.
How was your experience with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
Dr Traub was wonderful to work with. Kind, caring, explained everything in as much detail as I requested. Returned phone calls, even on holidays and most importantly treated my husband and I like a person ALWAYS and not a number. He is intelligent and an expert in his field and will go out of his way for you to have a baby. I thank God for him and his knowledge every day.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
Make sure that you ask questions because this is a scary stage to enter into. Fertility treatment is not easy but with Dr Traubs help, guidance and expertise you will get your goal.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
What can I say about Dr Traub and his amazing staff? If you are having difficulty getting or staying pregnant don’t hesitate and go see him. He is brilliant, sweet, caring and will use all of his skills and knowledge to get you to have a baby. This is my second time with Dr. Traub. We had a frozen embryo from previous successful IVF with PGD and it worked. By the grace of God and Dr Traub my husband and I are expecting our second child, a baby boy in August. This time due to insurance I had to use the NJ office. Leslie and all of the girls there are wonderful. The IVF nurses answer any questions you have. Sally is always a sweetheart and Melissa adds in a scientific approach. Any questions that the IVF nurses cannot answer go directly to Dr Traub and he will call you back himself immediately. I have even had to bother him for medication renewals and such on a holiday and he still gets back to you (just maybe after his run). I add Dr Traub and his staff to my daily prayers and am so thankful to him that he helped make me a mom now twice over.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Island Reproductive Services. (Assigned nurse: sally, Leslie, Melissa)
Leslie was always so sweet. (I had to use the NJ office due to insurance). Sally and Melissa always answered all my questions. Sally added a mom feeling to everything which helped calm me down some days and Melissa added in her science-geared side. Both were wonderful to work with.

He believes one embryo at a time is best so minimize any unnecessary complications which I agree with although I secretly was hoping for twins the second time around ;0)

I was very attracted to transferring multiple embryos. Dr. Traub explained the risks of transferring multiple embryos. My husband and I didn't questions him or the scientific research that he stood by for his reasoning...always took the time to answer my many questions and made me feel at easy about the ever changing symptoms that I was experiencing...spent 45 minutes with my husband and I explaining next steps as well as potential risks. I really appreciated that time that he spent with us in going through everything in detail. We were just there for a consult without any guarantee of staying on as his patients. This time that he spent with us helped make a difficult decision very easy. Every interaction with him was very positive.
Lesile [nurse at Island Reproductive Services] was wonderful and took the time to help me with treatment related questions as well as insurance related. She is very friendly and took the time to keep the office very clean especially during covid...It is a small office so if you are looking for the big factory like feel, you are not going to get that here. They are in a large building with other providers and plenty of parking... I felt the smaller practice was a better match for me because of the more focused attention my treatment was getting.
How was your experience with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
I was impressed from the first time I came into the practice. I was very hesitant and confused because I had already gone through 2 IVF procedures with my previous doctor and they were unsuccessful. Dr. Traub spent 45 minutes with my husband and I explaining next steps as well as potential risks. I really appreciated that time that he spent with us in going through everything in detail. We were just there for a consult without any guarantee of staying on as his patients. This time that he spent with us helped make a difficult decision very easy. Every interaction with him was very positive.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
I would advise them to trust him. I know this process is very emotional and physically challenging. I was very skeptical because of what I had already been through, but trusting him makes the process go a lot smoother. He will answer all your questions, so don't hold back. Let him know your concerns and trust him to take care of them and put you at ease.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
I was previously getting my fertility treatment at a large facility in New Jersey where I felt like I was not given the special attention that I required for a successful result. Dr. Traub, always took the time to answer my many questions and made me feel at easy about the ever changing symptoms that I was experiencing. I felt the smaller practice was a better match for me because of the more focused attention my treatment was getting.
Describe the protocols Michael Traub used in your cycles at Island Reproductive Services and their degree of success.
Before I had come to see Dr. Traub I have done 1 egg retrieval and 2 FET. Dr. Traub asked my husband and I to decide if we wanted to do a second egg retrieval due to the average quality of embryos. We decided to do a second egg retrieval followed by a third FET. The drugs I used were slightly different from my previous experience. I asked why I was taking certain drugs and Dr. Traub always took the time to explain why I was taking them.

Lesile was wonderful and took the time to help me with treatment related questions as well as insurance related. She is very friendly and took the time to keep the office very clean especially during covid.
Describe your experience with Island Reproductive Services.
The clinic is very clean and presentable. Distance was an issue for me. I drove about 1 hour each way to get to the clinic. That just shows that they were worth the drive. It is a small office so if you are looking for the big factory like feel, you are not going to get that here. They are in a large building with other providers and plenty of parking.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Island Reproductive Services.
Quick and easy.

Describe Michael Traub's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Island Reproductive Services.
The idea of having twins or multiple children at once is attractive to many families. After going through so much treatment already I was very attracted to transferring multiple embryos. Dr. Traub explained the risks of transferring multiple embryos. My husband and I didn't questions him or the scientific research that he stood by for his reasoning.

I would tell a prospective patient that Dr. Traub is very knowledgeable and will be very honest about your situation and your options...Ask questions, he will always take the time to answer them whether it be during an appointment or through email...has proven to be knowledgeable, attentive, dedicated to his work and passionate about what he does. The nursing staff at Island Reproductive Services were very nice and quick to respond...IUI was $500 per cycle...The clinic has great hours and a great staff. The staff shows compassion, understanding the challenges you're going through. The clinic also makes taking blood work during IUI and IVF treatments less of a disruption to daily life since there are two locations, one on each side of Staten Island, with great hours.
How was your experience with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
Dr. Traub helped my husband and I through the scariest and darkest time of our lives. Faced with infertility, we did not know what to expect. Dr. Traub was our guiding light. Dr. Traub was always honest and set realistic expectations. He got to the root of our problem and gave us a plan for achieving our goal with what to expect (and not to expect - including a quick result) at each turn. Dr. Traub diligently diagnosed the cause of our infertility and explained our situation to us, the treatments, the potential outcomes and the likelihood of success. He taught us about IUI and IVF and explained the pluses and minuses of each, but he never pushed us one way or the other. He advised, gave his opinions and always let us take the time to decide. Dr. Traub was always available to address our concerns, even communicating with us via email (he responds very quickly). We will always be grateful for Dr. Traub, as after undergoing treatments with him, we welcomed our first child one week ago today.

Dr. Traub always took the time to answer all my husband's and mine questions. He understood our concerns and always addressed them. Dr. Traub was always patient with us, even when our questions became repetitive and prolonged. We still marvel at how we could email Dr. Traub at any time and he would respond so quickly.
Describe the protocols Michael Traub used in your cycles at Island Reproductive Services and their degree of success.
Treatment strategies included IUI with Letrozole and Prometrium after the insemination because my progesterone levels were low.

The clinic has great hours and a great staff. The staff shows compassion, understanding the challenges you're going through. IUI was $500 per cycle.

Dr. Traub first performed a laparoscopy to treat my tubal blockage. 1 tube was removed and the other was cleared. We decided to skip straight to IVF to avoid risk of ectopic pregnancy that can result from IUI. For IVF I was on menopur and gonal-f. During the cycle 17 eggs were retrieved and resulted in 6 genetically normal embryos. After the transfer I was on prednisone, progesterone, estradiol and aspirin. At all times, Dr. Traub and his staff kept in constant communication and explained everything thoroughly.
All of the care I received [at Island Reproductive Services] was 100% personal. I was completely informed every step of the process and access to both my doctor and his nurses or office staff was stress-free...I cannot say enough great things about Sally [nurse]. From our very first encounter when she walked me through all the steps for IVF to my very last visit she has been amazing...For IVF and associated genetic testing I was self-pay. The cost was around $13K after military discount
How was your experience with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
My experience with Dr. Traub was amazing. When I first saw him, I did not know what to expect as it was my first time seeing an RE but had been struggling to conceive for over 2 years. From the first visit, he told me what he thought was the challenge and even though I had my doubts, after a series of thorough testing it turns out he was spot on. After each test, I was informed right away of the results and he took the time to explain to me what it all meant. One of the attributes I appreciated most was how realistic and honest he was with me. This allowed me and my husband to make informed and smart decisions. To be honest, my first instinct after being diagnosed with blocked tubes was to see another doctor for a second opinion to make sure this was the right diagnosis. Around that same time, Dr. Traub called me personally to talk through my diagnosis and his recommended next steps. He took the time to list to all my fears and answer all my follow up questions. After hanging up with him, I had no doubts, he was the doctor for me! Dr. Traub projects confidence in a way that is comforting and I felt like I was in great hands every step of the way.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
Trust him! Listen to him and if you have any questions, reach out to him.

As a self-pay patient she helped call around to get me the best prices and set aside any reserve medications.

From the get go he [Dr. Michael Traub] was able to figure out why we are having trouble conceiving. The way he speaks is so confident, he knows what he is talking about and he knows something needs to change with protocol. He won’t sit there and keep trying the same thing when he knows it is not going to work. He responds to you through email at any time...nights...weekends....it’s amazing.
Strengths: they call when they say they are going to. They elaborate on EVERYTHING. They are on time with appointments. They are accommodating to your needs. Weaknesses: okay honestly I have never been in a situation where I was like “I wish they did...” I have experience in the medical field and they really make your experience as smooth sailing as possible. Smiles all around...even the sad crappy appointments they somehow make it alright.

Things aren’t going our way with treatment and he’s determined to get something to work for us. We’re on the Ivf route now and it’s scary and exciting but there’s a calm feeling knowing that I’m going to be under his care.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
Prepare for bluntness. I actually love that more than sugarcoating it. Just lay it all out there, give it to me straight doc.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
He addressed all my concerns, answered all my crazy questions. He is so honest and so blunt which is appreciated more than he knows.
Describe the protocols Michael Traub used in your cycles at Island Reproductive Services and their degree of success.
For both iuis I went for baseline bloodwork and ultrasound, then I took letrozole CD 4-8 (the first time) and CD 3-7 (the second time). I went back for a follicle check twice since My follicles we’re slacking. I did the trigger shot 36 hours before iui both times. The iui procedure took 2 minutes and then he talked to us for a few minutes more. Unfortunately they both ended in negative results which now brings us to Ivf. We have not started because we have no coverage and the expenses are a little steep.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Island Reproductive Services.
They are just the loveliest bunch! They speak to you and treat you like they care, they sympathize, they explain everything in detail. I can’t tell you how many times my questions were answered before I even asked.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Island Reproductive Services.
When faxing over my insurance cards numerous times they were not receiving it even though I kept getting “ok” from the confirmation page. It wasn’t that big of a deal but I waited two days for them to call back and they didn’t because they never had the cards to figure out coverage. I ended up emailing it which I should of done in the first place. It all worked out in the end anyway.

Describe the protocols Michael Traub used in your cycles at Island Reproductive Services and their degree of success.
Dr. Traub first had us take tests to see exactly what the problem was. We started off with a natural cycle and then continued with letrozole and estrogen. Next, we moved onto using a shot to help me ovulate. After this we went through 5 iui cycles. The last cycle worked!

Anytime I was unsure of payments or if a medication would be covered the staff helped me to figure out a way to get the costs down. Dr. Traub always started with a benchmark blood test. After establishing information, medicine would be prescribed followed by more blood tests to ensure that the levels were correct. As we got closer to retrieving the eggs, sonograms were given every few days. The idea was to stimulate my ovaries, but not over stimulate gathering many eggs, but not all viable for fertilization...thorough and explained every step of the process.
I did not experience a weakness with the clinic [Island Reproductive Services]... it’s a one stop shop. Everything you need for fertility treatments is present. Having to go to the same place for various procedures helps keep the patient calm, always knowing what to expect. The staff makes a point to learn names and call you by your name before filling out paper work. The entire staff showed deep compassion and decorum to my husband as he went for sperm samples. My husband is very humble and he felt comfortable with all the staff.
How was your experience with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
During my initial consultation, Dr. Traub explained the method he uses in diagnosing potential infertility. This included a battery of blood tests, x-rays, and sonograms. After each of these steps, Dr. Traub informed my husband and I of our next steps. Dr. Traub gave us all the necessary information to make our decision in starting our family.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
The advice does not relate to Dr. Traub as a physician, but rather the process. Dr. Traub is thorough and a prospective patient needs to be patient with the process.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
Dr. Traub and his team were thorough and explained every step of the process.

I only had one viable embryo after genetic testing. Previous to this, Dr. Traub explained that given my age, weight, and pre existing condition of high blood pressure, more than one embryo transfer would be unsafe to my overall health.

Dr. Traub was straight forward with what we were dealing with and answered my many many questions. He presented our options and shared his opinions on what we could do. He was able to adjust meds so that we retrieved a reasonable amount
They [Island Reproductive Services] are a small clinic with offices in both Staten Island, and New Jersey which worked wonderfully for me as at the time I was driving from NJ to SI everyday for work. They have an in house lab which allows them to analyze their own lab results and their embryo lab is excellent. However, because they are a small facility if the rare emergency arises for an individual staff member or equipment (computer issue, phlebotomist sick ...), it can be hassle to adjust to say get labwork elsewhere.
How was your experience with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
Dr. Traub was an excellent doctor for general fertility needs including IUI and IVF dealing with PCOS and male factor. He was able to adjust meds so that we retrieved a reasonable amount; 16 eggs all of which were mature and fertilized, 9 made it to blast, and 5 were genetically normal. Unfortunately, as we were dealing with autoimmune issues resulting in recurrent miscarriages we needed more than his expertise was able to provide.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
Don't be afraid to ask questions, he will answer them. There were several times when we first started this process where I unnecessarily worried about stuff that I later asked and felt better once I had answers.

They were very warm and compassionate as well as helpful in accommodating my timing for phone calls (i.e. right after work) with instructions. They understood that I needed a time when I could have them repeat, ask questions, and write down information as especially in the beginning I was nervous.

Clinic opened for monitoring at 7 I arrived 6:45 and usually was the first one or two people there, so not often a line. They have ultrsound techs so don't explain everything or tell you what they are seeing but you can ask.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services.
The insurance I had at the time (United Healthcare) covered some of this and thankfully we had a family friend help us out for copays and meds not covered.

Strongly recommended eSET as we had tested embryos

He [Dr. Traub] is an ok doctor, but doesnt have the best bed side manner....I dont think he is able to see holistically at all fertility related needs. He is just looking at things from a medical stand point...When the results were not as expected, he said its just bad luck....in terms of demeanor hes a nice guy, but again doesnt see fertility issues as anything more than from a medical perspective...he compared my eggs to that of a honda and said i would never be a benz.
They [Island Repro Services] are efficient in their workflow. Received co-insurance bills which was somewhat annoying. It seems like there were always charges for something even though my insurance covers monitoring...Sally was great and showed empathy to me as a patient. However, she would not answer questions and I would need to email Dr. Traub anyway. The other nursing staff were ok, including the sonogram techs and the phlebotomist. They were all nice, but were not very knowledgeable about answers to questions.
How was your experience with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
When the results were not as expected, he said its just bad luck. When after four transfers with five embryos there was no pregnancy, he compared my eggs to that of a honda and said i would never be a benz. I wish he was more upfront about things instead of waiting until there are no other options except starting over. in terms of demeanor hes a nice guy, but again doesnt see fertility issues as anything more than from a medical perspective. Vitamins, acuptuncture, etc. are all bs to him. only after 3 failed transfers did he even agree to a endo scratch even though he called it fraud previously.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
if you are paying out of pocket, he will never say no. that means that where another doctor might say take a break to heal after surgery, he would never do that.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
He is an ok doctor, but doesnt have the best bed side manner. The office runs efficiently, but sometimes it seems like they are just out to make money. My one gripe is that I was and still am very emotionally invested and he never once told me to take a break or anything. Right after surgery we did another retrieval. I dont think he is able to see holistically at all fertility related needs. He is just looking at things from a medical stand point.

dr traub only subscribes to antagonist protocols. i did high stims with clomid and he never tried anything different.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services.

He’s [Dr. Traub is] a very thorough doctor and has been with me since I was just having surgery for endometriosis. He is kind, and although miscarriages have occurred he is determined to make it work. He allows me to have say in my protocols and what I want to do or not do...His blunt and straightforward approach is what you want in a doctor...you want a doctor who will work with your body...
Nice clinic [Island Reproductive Services] and clean, very quick and thorough. All the staff is very nice. You see the same people constantly and they learn you by name and are happy to see you...Sally [nurse] was very attentive and knew I had anxiety so she called as early as she knew next steps. She remembered little details that made me feel like a person and was genuinely concerned for my well-being after my miscarriages...
How was your experience with Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?
He’s a very thorough doctor and has been with me since I was just having surgery for endometriosis. He is kind, and although miscarriages have occurred he is determined to make it work. He allows me to have say in my protocols and what I want to do or not do. He is also realistic.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Traub at Island Reproductive Services?

Dr. Traub very concisely explains each step during the process. He found fibroids no other doctor bothered looking for. He would take the time to go through procedures and ease my fears. Other doctors would see my history of cancer and turn me away in fear of messing up their stats and numbers. Dr. Traub put me first, and made sure to always be candid and honest about what to expect...
The entire team at the facility [Island Reproductive Services] is compassionate and caring. They treat you like a real person versus a statistic like other doctors/clinics I have been to in the past. The office is immaculate and very organized...Sally [nurse] was incredible. She would call me back with results in a timely fashion. She was very encouraging and insisted I ask any questions I had...

Other doctors would see my history of cancer and turn me away in fear of messing up their stats and numbers. Dr. Traub put me first, and made sure to always be candid and honest about what to expect. Dr. Traub explained everything clearly and honestly from the moment my husband and I first began seeking treatment. He answered calls and emails even during non office hours and was incredibly patient and knowledgeable...He gives you lots of information so bring a notepad to take notes and remember questions...took the time to talk to my husband and I several times through the course of our treatment even when it was just to answer questions.
she [nurse at Island Reproductive Services] was so sweet and answered so many questions (many multiple times since I would forget sometimes) and made me feel so comfortable. Sally goes above and beyond to make sure you understand everything about your treatment, even guiding us to financial resources even though it’s not necessarily in her job description...Costs were fair and well explained by the financial team

Describe your experience with your nurse at Island Reproductive Services. (Assigned nurse: Sally)
Prior to Dr. Traub, my husband and I went to a different reproductive medical facility. They had a very “good reputation” and beautiful office but the nurse was very cold and always made us feel like we had to rush to ask questions bc she was so busy. Sally was NOTHING like that-she was so sweet and answered so many questions (many multiple times since I would forget sometimes) and made me feel so comfortable. Sally goes above and beyond to make sure you understand everything about your treatment, even guiding us to financial resources even though it’s not necessarily in her job description. Sally is amazing!

I never felt pressure to jump into IVF, although he [Dr. Michael Traub] recommended that be the best course of action for me- I went with IUI first and he never made me feel like that was wrong- just honest that it doesn’t have the best odds...he is always just an email away and answers promptly...He’s very blunt and doesn’t sugar coat your situation - which I appreciate...Answers emails quickly, I wouldn’t say that it felt very personalized, but the doctor himself always answered any question I had in a timely matter and felt approachable
Nursing staff [at Island Reproductive Services] is great, very caring. Even the billing staff is kind and caring and informative. MD [Dr. Michael Traub] responses to emails in a timely matter making him feel very accessible to you. He will explain anything you ask. Have only done three failed IUIs so far so unable to speak of IVF course just yet...[nurses] Always very compassionate and caring when on the phone giving you negative results and in person. They are great.
