How was your experience with Michael Vance Homer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Homer is a total pro, and is also fun to work with. This could be a stressful situation, but with his sense of humor and positive attitude, my husband and I felt informed and reassured. From the start, Dr. Homer was very optimistic about our odds of getting pregnant, and his predictions for everything from follicle count, how many eggs would fertilize, how many euploid embryos we would end up with, and transfer success were spot on. It's like he had a crystal ball. I'm a pessimist, but was consistently pleasantly surprised how things were going, and now have a baby to show for it!
However, just because the end result was good in the end, that is not to say that he gives false hope. Dr. Homer was also honest about managing expectations. For example, he told us we weren't a good candidate for IUI due to my husband's sperm morphology. Then, when my hCG levels were wacky after my 2nd pregnancy test, he cautioned us that there was a good chance the embryo did not actually take. It was fine in the end, but he had mentally prepared us for either scenario, and he did it with calmness and compassion.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Vance Homer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
If you want to have a longer conversation, it's best to schedule time for that. There were times when he would call to give results and I had a bunch of questions (some related, some not, like next steps and possible scenarios) but the conversation felt rushed. This isn't entirely his fault- he's got other patients and a full schedule. But sometimes I did feel a little rushed and would recommend asking for a time to have a longer conversation, if you need it, so he can block out the time in his schedule.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Vance Homer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Homer has a great bedside manner and definitely addresses your concerns. At times it is clear that RSC is a large organization and they have many patients (and therefore can't spend all the time in the world walking through your worries), but overall I definitely felt heard and treated with respect.
Describe the protocols Michael Vance Homer used in your cycles at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
For my egg retrieval I did Gonal F, Menopur, and Cetrotide injections, then a Leuprolide trigger. This produced 33 eggs (24 mature). They used ICSI for fertilization, and 23 of the 24 fertilized! 15 made it to Day 5 Blastocyst, and after PGT-A testing, 7 of the 15 turned out to be euploid. Dr. Homer transferred one, and it was successful. I did Progesterone injections before and after the transfer, and the pregnancy resulted in the birth of my healthy baby.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Lindsay Smith)
How can I summarize how amazing Lindsay was? She feels like your guardian angel, best friend, and total pro all wrapped up in one. Lindsay's positive attitude, constant encouragement, fun laugh, and warmth made the whole process enjoyable. I would actually look forward to our calls! When I had questions, she would always return my call that day. She gave super clear instructions on my protocol and always followed up with everything in writing, too. I felt completely in capable hands.
When we were faced with some disappointment, her compassion was very genuine- it felt like talking to a friend. She took the time to listen to my feelings, while still encouraging me not to give up hope. And when things turned out well, she celebrated with us! This is someone who is not only great at her job, but clearly loves doing it as well.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
RSC exceeded my expectations. I had heard that their success rates were above average, but was stunned by just how good they were. At each step, the numbers were either exactly what they predicted or better. For example, when 70% of embryos were expected to make it to Day 5, more did, thanks to their excellent lab. And 96% eggs fertilized, which would be unheard of at another clinic. Whoever that lab tech was has magic hands!
The only annoying part was the customer service at the very beginning when we were trying to get the process started, and the wait time. However, they cautioned that the wait time is due to the clinic not wanting to be overloaded. At any given time, they only have the number of patients that they have time for, so that you never need to worry about getting the appointment date that you need or wait too long for a response. Once we had our initial call with our doctor, things were boom-boom-boom and moved like lightning. I was pregnant within 3 months!
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Vance Homer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
-For me and my husband: $1.3k initial diagnostics, $1.4k genetic testing.
-HSG was $1.8k performed elsewhere.
-$700 drugs for retrieval.
-$1.4k for my retrieval ($1.1k), PGT-A biopsy ($186), and ICSI ($127).
-$2.8k for the embryo transfer.
These numbers are based on the bills we received. However, through work we had Progyny, which covered the expenses and grouped them together as "cycles" - a quarter cycle here, a half cycle there, etc. I think in the end we used 1 full cycle for the retrieval, transfer, and frozen embryo storage.
Describe Michael Vance Homer's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Since I was 33 at the time, we had done PGT-A testing, and this was my first transfer attempt with no indications that there would be any barriers, eSET was the clear choice. Dr. Homer didn't make it much of a conversation and we didn't push it either.
Dr. Homer is very human and caring for his patients. He is very warm and considerate. He always listens to the patients and explains about the treatment...professional, helpful and caring..a good sense of humor...as a very good bedside manner and always listens to his patients...unexplained reasons for infertility, but with his help, my first IVF baby is 2-year-old now and I'm pregnant with my second IVF...had 9 eggs retrieval, 7 were mature, 5 embryos and they all past the PGA test!
[Reproductive Science Center's] strength:good doctors, good nurses and good lab. RSC has a long history and is very professional in the Bay Area. the doctors are professional and experienced. The medical team is a strong team. weakness: billing team...my nurse Mei is responsible, caring and compassionate...monitoring appointments are efficient. Dr. Homer is professional, helpful and caring. He is very human and has a good sense of humor. He has a very good bedside manner and always listens to his patients. He tries his best to make the IVF process easier for his patients. I'm very lucky to choose him as my doctor on my IVF journey. Dr. Home did the egg retrieval (1 time) , hysteroscopic surgery (twice) and natural-cycle transfer (twice) for me. All of these are successful. I was diagnosed with unexplained reasons for infertility, but with his help, my first IVF baby is 2-year-old now and I'm pregnant with my second IVF baby at the moment. I certainly recommend Dr. Homer to other patients!

Describe Michael Vance Homer's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
From the beginning till the end, he [Dr. Michael Homer] never sent me message or called me to tell me anything about treatment, medications and risks. 2. The day after my surgery, he told me I only got two mature eggs, which is completely difference from which he said (he always said 10). He complained my ovary function is not good, never gave me a reasonable explanation. He told me go to another clinic find another doctor. He said to call me back, but he never called me back...before starting treatment, he didn't tell me any information related to the protocol, including the options, medications and risks. The case manager just started. Just pills and shots, no communication. I ended up being told an outcome that was complete different from what the doctor had described to me, and with no explanation.
Before my surgery [at Reproductive Science Center], nursing staff was good. But I was very disappointed at the end. After surgery, no one contacted me for days, no one asked how my body was recovering, no one told me should I take a follow-up exam. Although I told the case manager I felt pain, and my period something wrong, no one answered me...I don't think this is a tightly managed clinic that can improve quality care. They refused to give me details of my bill. When things go wrong, clinic dose not do much about it. They don't seem to care about patient satisfaction.
How was your experience with Michael Vance Homer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
He is an inexperienced and irresponsible doctor, both in selecting treatment and communicating.
For treatment, I got second and third opinion from other experienced doctors, they all have different opinions compared with his. I was misdiagnosed as DOR.
For communication, before starting treatment, he didn't tell me any information related to the protocol, including the options, medications and risks. The case manager just started. Just pills and shots, no communication. I ended up being told an outcome that was complete different from what the doctor had described to me, and with no explanation.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Vance Homer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
I recommend that patients check reviews on line before choosing a doctor, and try to choose a doctor who has many years of experience in this field. See two more doctors and ask everything about protocol, medications and success rate.

I never actually met Dr. Homer until he performed my ultrasound to see the baby, but still, he was the man with the plan behind the scenes and I owe everything to him. He is a warm person and I highly recommend him...Despite my chances of success being rather low with IUI, he made it possible...Though he can speak quickly, he takes the time to ensure all of your questions and concerns are addressed.
RSC has great staff and is overall great. My only issues were with billing...I can not say enough about [nurse] Lindsay! She was everything you’d ever want. She is so beyond helpful, understanding, organized, patient, communicative and warm. She is a gem to work with and my absolute favorite part of working with this clinic!
How was your experience with Michael Vance Homer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
After reading good reviews about Dr Homer on this website, I decided to give fertility treatments a shot. I previously tried to conceive unsuccessfully for about 5 years. During my initial consultation with Dr. Homer, all of my questions and concerns were addressed. He gave me an understanding if my options and the potential success rate per procedure, as best as he could at that point. After careful consideration, my husband and I decided to start with IUI treatments. Over the course of my first treatment, I was given Clomid. My ultrasound showed that I developed an ideal amount of follicles to proceed with the iui, but the Clomid did cause my lining to thin so I was prescribed a medicine to help thicken my lining before my iui. That iui was unsuccessful. We opted to try again and the second time, Dr. Homer changed my medicine to Letrozole/Femara. That ultrasound showed that I developed an ideal amount of follicles and the new medicine did not cause my lining to thin so I did not need to take anything to thicken it before my IUI. I had my second IUI in mid-January 2022 and later discovered that I was pregnant! My first ultrasound confirmed that it was a singleton pregnancy. I graduated from the fertility clinic at around 6 weeks, right after the initial ultrasound and have since been seeing my OB. As of late April, I am currently 16 weeks pregnant and all has been going very well! I am 40 years old and have never previously had a positive pregnancy test besides the one I had after my 2nd iui. Despite my chances of success being rather low with IUI, he made it possible! I’m not sure if the change of the medication helped or what, but I owe it all to Dr. Homer and the rest of the staff! Of note, Dr. Homer was my primary fertility specialist, but both of my iui treatments were with different doctors, both were wonderful. I never actually met Dr. Homer until he performed my ultrasound to see the baby, but still, he was the man with the plan behind the scenes and I owe everything to him. He is a warm person and I highly recommend him!

RSC has great staff and is overall great. My only issues were with billing. I recommend writing down quoted costs along with the date the cost was quoted and the person you spoke with since that can help clear up matters.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Michael Vance Homer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
I spent approximately $1300 per IUI cycle with meds.
He [Dr. Homer] was very transparent about the process and expectations and always answered all my questions - which I always had a lot of! After my first transfer, which resulted in a chemical pregnancy, I appreciate that he wanted to leave no stone unturned before trying another transfer (we tried different forms of estrogen for priming to see how my lining responded, an ERA/Receptiva test, hysteroscopy, and repeated pregnancy loss lab-work since I have a history of chemical pregnancies). He was always optimistic that we would find the solution and gave me hope throughout the entire process....
Kacey [nurse at Reproductive Science Center] - she was friendly, compassionate, organized, direct, and always hopeful...the initial breakdown of costs was confusing because I did not understand what as covered by insurance and what was not. I wish the financial advisor would help make these distinctions clear. Also, the software they use for billing is very outdated- there is no way to see if there is an outstanding balance on your account or to see what bills you have paid in the past....
How was your experience with Michael Vance Homer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Homer is the best. I was fortunate enough to be referred to him specifically through a RE I consulted with on Maven. Initially the RE recommended I find a young female doctor, however when she learned I live in the Bay Area, she told me to forget everything she just said and go see Dr. Homer at RSC. I am so thankful I took her advice! He was very transparent about the process and expectations and always answered all my questions - which I always had a lot of! Dr. Homer was absolutely amazing! I appreciate how Dr. Homer really got to know my husband and I. He understood not only my concerns but what was important to me throughout the entire process. He had an excellent communication style - he does not sugar coat the process and results, yet he still came off as kind and warm.
Describe the protocols Michael Vance Homer used in your cycles at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
We did 2 egg retrievals with the same medications, but different doses. My 2nd cycle yielded a higher number of mature eggs which I contribute to the dosage change. The medications we used were Gonal F, Menopur, and Cetrotide. We used a Lupron trigger for the first retrieval since it as a freeze-all and an HCG trigger for the second retrieval since it was a fresh transfer.
We did 2 FET cycles with different forms of estrogen. My first FET resulted in a CP most likely because my lining only reached 7.4mm using oral and vaginal estrogen. For the next FET cycle, we tried estrogen patches and then injectable estrogen but unfortunately neither produced a thicker lining.
Dr. Homer recommended a hysteroscopy to investigate why my lining was not thickening. He was able to remove adhesions and compacted tissue and my next transfer was successful.

Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
Overall the medical treatment at RSC was an A+. However, as many other reviewers have noted, the finance and billing department brings down their overall rating. We were fortunate to have infertility insurance coverage, and once we met our out-of-pocket maximum the billing seemed to flow seamlessly. However, the initial breakdown of costs was confusing because I did not understand what as covered by insurance and what was not. I wish the financial advisor would help make these distinctions clear. Also, the software they use for billing is very outdated- there is no way to see if there is an outstanding balance on your account or to see what bills you have paid in the past.
Homer constantly referred me to the unfriendly case manager. Our transfer resulted in miscarriage and Homer has not contacted us to say anything...No personalized treatment plan...He did not perform my mock transfer or transfer. He only performed surgery to remove polyps. I don’t believe he read my previous medical records and just prescribed a standard protocol. He also over prescribed antibiotics which I questioned. No discussion was had just told me through case manager to not take. Very impersonal...
Twice the ultrasound technician [at Reproductive Science Center] did not know how to use the wand and put it in the wrong area which was embarrassing and uncomfortable...appointments are on time and i never had to wait. Billing was an uphill battle so be prepared to work hard at being a mediator between your insurance and rsc...They are understaffed and have too many clients...they schedule your blood draws at 7:30am, transfer and surgery are in San Ramon not Los Gatos...

Question everything he prescribes. Double check and make sure he reviews your previous medical records. Push him to explain everything to you. Make him tell you the odds of success. He made us think this was going to be a guaranteed success. Or simply ask for another doctor with more experience.

No phone calls with case manager, only email communication. Homer constantly referred me to the unfriendly case manager. Our transfer resulted in miscarriage and Homer has not contacted us to say anything. He got our money and we got a miscarriage. He has not contacted us at it’s been over a week. We feel like a number and not treated humanely. No personalized treatment plan. We got a blanket treatment plan without my previous medical records being considered.

Pio once a day, vaginal inserts x2day, estrodol 4X a day. No explanation or rationale explained just do it attitude from case manager. Prescribed 5 days of antibiotics before and after transfer just in case infection. I argued rationale and they just said nevermind. I had successfully transfer bit six week scan showed no development. I had to induce a miscarriage

3rd party new hire case manager. Never spoke to her on the phone. Made inappropriate jokes (insensitive)when trying to start my cycle. She made mistakes with my prescription which sent me to my friends asking if anyone had Lupron to spare. She did the bare minimum and showed no care for me as a human being. Never contacted me when i had a panic attack and never contacted me to see how i was doing at any point in the process.
Describe your experience with Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
The only strength is that appointments are on time and i never had to wait. Billing was an uphill battle so be prepared to work hard at being a mediator between your insurance and rsc. The toilet doesn’t always flush in LG and the chairs in waiting area are uncomfortable, they schedule your blood draws at 7:30am, transfer and surgery are in San Ramon not Los Gatos. This is a mentally difficult process and rsc did not help alleviate this but added to our stress. They are understaffed and have too many clients. We did not get the quality service we were expecting.

Case manager called in my prescription a week too late and i had to borrow meds from a friend. She blamed me for the error because I rescheduled my surgery. Dr. Homer told me to stop BC when I should not have stopped. He caught his error and apologized. Toilet dident flush which was embarrassing. Twice the ultrasound technician did not know how to use the wand and put it in the wrong area which was embarrassing and uncomfortable. Day of transfer the doctor did not look at my mock transfer notes and used the wrong size speculum. During a lining check they had me lay on a torn up damaged table which was cutting into my skin during the exam. Fighting billing telling us our insurance does not cover certain things when it did.
He [Dr. Homer] recommended eSET (with normal PGS tested embryos)...really got to know us, what we care about, what we fear, what is important to us. He adapted his advice and communication style to match our particular case, personalities and needs which was very special and appreciated. It's clear that he truly cares...All through the process he was patient, responded to our 1000 questions (we learned a lot about the topic) and was open to adjusting treatment according to outcomes and our preferences. I really couldn't have asked for anything better from him and feel so lucky we choose him. I'd give him 10/10 regardless, but the outcomes were also amazing - we have the coolest awesome daughter from our first round with doctor Homer, are now expecting our second child (the second normal embryo from our first cycle), and have 5 more normal frozen embryos from cycles 2&3.
One downside [at Reproductive Science Center] is that the procedures themselves are done in the San Ramon office which was far away for us...Everyone was always very friendly from the receptionist to the ultrasound technicians. Other doctors I've seen also seemed great. The online portal is convenient and the communication is speedy and efficient. I didn't get to experience the billing department as I had great insurance that covers everything. If that wasn't the case I'd check that to make sure they are okay (don't know).

We came to see doctor Homer after 1.5 years of trying to conceive. It was mainly with our first case manager that didn't proactively inform us of the next steps so we were sometimes surprised. When we asked doctor Homer about it he responded right away and provided all the information. We then requested another case manager (Lindsey) and never had any issues with her!
Dr Homer is naturally warm and friendly. He always remembers details about my history and care, and also makes sure to explain everything clearly so I am confortable with the course of action taken...He never pushed me to go beyond my comfort level, and unlike some doctors he is not too aggressive in his treatment method. I came in ready for IVF, but he convinced me to try IUI 1 more time, with a different medication than I was using with my previous doctor. We were successful at the first try.
About $600 per IUI cycle [at Reproductive Science Center]...Nice warm environment, quality staff, good support online and offline, well connected technology-wise. I also like that they are connected with natural practitioners such as acupuncturists. Nice warm environment, quality staff, good support online and offline, well connected technology-wise. He switched me from Clomid to Femara. I have PCOS and had previously had 4 IUIs with another doctor (not from RSC) that failed. He had me and my husband do the genetic testing to make sure there were no other underlying issues, then did a sperm count for my husband. After the IUI, I was using progesterone supplements until I got my positive result.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Lindsay Smith)
Lindsay my case manager is fenomenal. She is very responsive, knowledgeable and friendly. The rest of the staff at the los Gatos office is very professional and friendly as well. I had a negative experience at the San Ramon office because the nurse gave me the wrong timing to administer my trigger shot. This possible caused that cycle to fail. I can never know for sure.

Nice warm environment, quality staff, good support online and offline, well connected technology-wise. I also like that they are connected with natural practitioners such as acupuncturists.

Immediately he [Dr. Homer] said our chances of conceiving naturally were 1%. This was a very quick diagnosis. He thought if we wanted to do IUIs to try three on clomid. We pushed back and asked for 3 natural with HCG and he was willing only to do 3. After that he wanted to start us on clomid. During the time there were no other blood tests performed, which I hoped to get some more answers. We took 5 months off to give ourselves a break and just started up again and requested the HSG test.
$500-800 for initial visit and sonogram [at Reproductive Science Center], $1000 per IUI, $300 HSG, acupuncture done outside of clinic.... They care about getting pregnant results fast. They don’t always take the time to trust the patient knowing their body and come up with some wholistic approaches...They [nurses] were friendly. I always had someone else helping me and often would meet the doctor performing my IUI that same day. They were all kind but I never had Dr. Homer doing the procedures.
How was your experience with Michael Vance Homer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
He was helpful at taking time with us and understanding where we were at. I appreciated his expertise and his reputation.
I wished he would have worked with me a little better on non-medicated treatments and look more into blood work. I’ve had many friends have way more blood work done than me, a day 3 cycle test which I have not had done, nor hormone testing on certain days of my cycle or during IUIs.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Michael Vance Homer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
If you are ready to jump all in and haven’t done too much research on your own or know much about your body and just are ready to get pregnant no matter what, he is a great doctor. I want to get pregnant while doing it in the most natural and healthy way for how my body is currently responding.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Michael Vance Homer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
He was kind and took time with me. Though he wanted me to do full medication, after some advocating for myself he allowed me to try only HCG injections without clomid. They weren’t positive or encouraging about me doing it this way which made me feel a little unsupported, but at least were will to try 3.

I was told that there were no appointments left that morning and wouldn’t arrive in time so needed to administer the shot on my own without them doing a sonogram. So i was told to go ahead and give myself the HCG shot for the procedure the next day. 30 min after I did the shot and they left a message saying they were canceling my appointment because they didn’t realize my blood work hadn’t come through and hadn’t been sent to them. So I took the shot ready for my appointment the next day and it got cancelled on me through a voicemail message. It was overwhelming and shocking as my first experience.
Dr. Homer was just great. He gave me time, patience and respect. He always listened. I never once felt like I didn't know what was happening, or why. He never rushed me, and answered all of my thousands of questions...He was frank, honest, kind, warm, and always gave me time...never disregarded any of my feelings, concerns or instincts. I am actually a little sad to have to graduate from the fertility center back to my OB just because I would have loved to see him and the wonderful staff at the RSC throughout my pregnancy.
This clinic [Reproductive Science Center] is amazing. Every single staff member I encountered was amazing. The location itself was convenient, with ample parking. The facility was clean, comfortable, and all the equipment was in great condition. I honestly don't have a single bad thing to say...Lindsay [nurse] was just amazing! She was so responsive. Always there to answer my questions via the patient portal. And on days that she was on leave, someone else always got back to me in her stead, always within the same day. I loved knowing that I could reach out to her and she would be patient and willing to answer any and all questions, as silly as they may have seemed to her.

Describe the protocols Michael Vance Homer used in your cycles at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility, and also really long, irregular cycles. After having tried to conceive naturally for a year and a half, Dr. Homer recommended we move forward with a medicated (Letrozole) IUI treatment.
In the days leading up to this cycle, we did blood-work and discovered elevated TSH levels, for which he prescribed me some medication. It must have been this medication that did the trick, for I ended up naturally conceiving in that final natural cycle leading up to my scheduled IUI cycle. It was a wonderful surprise!

As I never ended up needing fertility treatment, I was just charged for the initial diagnosis appointment, and a followup ultrasound appointment after I became pregnant.
Due to my diagnosis with PCOS Dr Homer prescribed Femera, not Clomid that my previous Dr had me on. It worked our first two cycles on it and I'm so grateful that he customized our treatment for my condition... I got pregnant the first cycle. It was a tough experience as we learned that I miscarried at our first appointment, but Dr Homer was right there for us, helping me through the medication to have the miscarriage at home, no DNC required thankfully. He even called me the next day, On a Saturday, to check in on me, it meant the world to me.
I didn't have a ton of exposure to the nursing team [at Reproductive Science Center]...I did see a nurse for one of my follicle scans and she was outstanding ...We had a pretty substantial cost for the ultrasounds each month... there were some weaknesses we discovered once we left and went to our OB at Los Olivos with getting our paperwork sent over. We confirmed to have it sent over at our last RSC appointment and i called the day before my OB appt to make sure paperwork was sent. Then at my first OB appointment they were still missing all my blood work.
How was your experience with Michael Vance Homer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr Homer was incredible throughout our entire experience, start to finish. In the first meeting we immediately bonded with him, he experience medically and personally helped us instill trust in him pretty much right away. We enjoyed meeting with him and he took so much time with us to explain the whole process and what he could do for us. I had previously visited another Dr who prescribed Clomid and incorrectly told me I did not have PCOS, she was prepared to up my prescription of Clomid to 100mg after 3 failed cycles. At that point I chose to move to see Dr. Homer and I look back all the time and am grateful we made that decision. At my first ultrasound with Dr. Homer he immediately confirmed I was a classic case of PCOS. From there he made the decision to not go forward with Clomid but to switch to Femera. He was a partner throughout the entire process and never shyed away from the tough stuff.
After that, I had many weeks with blood appointments to check my Hcg, which took it's sweet time in going down. I think I tested 3-4 weeks in a row before we gave it a rest for a couple weeks and tested again. It took about 2 months to get it completely gone so we could start trying again. Dr Homer put me on my second cycle with Femera and sure enough we got pregnant on the first try again, I simply couldn't believe it. the first few months were pretty grueling, always expecting something to go wrong. I was terrified for my first ultrasound. Dr Homer was perfectly matching my optimism but also completely respecting and mirroring my cautious excitement. Once he got in there and saw the heartbeat he took a minute to confirm before he gave me the good news. My husband and I were ecstatic and so was he. We had the best appointment and were so endlessly grateful for his partnership and guidance. After that we had a 2 week trip to Ireland and I couldnt wait to come home to get another hopefully good screen. We could have switched to an OB at that time, but we werent ready to leave Dr Homer. We came back from the trip and got to see the baby grown quite a bit, arms and legs and most importantly a strong heartbeat. Dr Homer gave us hugs of congratulations and his staff gave us so many well wishes on our way out the door. Dr Homer even helped me find a new OB which was a big deal for us and we've now met her and absolutely love her! I of course would prefer to stay with Dr Homer if it were a possibility, but because it's not we're thrilled to have her. I can't say enough good things about Dr Homer, without him I dont think this experience ever could have worked as quickly and certainly wouldn't have been so pleasant.

I met with one other Dr while Dr Homer was out, she did my follicle scan and she was absolutely delightful and encouraging as well. The support staff was also pretty outstanding, always trying to be supportive and prompt, it was much appreciated.

We had a pretty substantial cost for the ultrasounds each month. Also the only thing I was really caught off guard by was when I needed to come in for weekly blood draws for my Hcg levels, I was anxious to hear results so it was recommended that I do the draws at RSC so i could get same day results. Unfortunately after a few draws I found out that my coverage didnt extend to those blood draws and i needed to go to a LabCorp, so I got charged way more than expected for those visits and that was really disappointing.

We met Dr. Homer after trying for more than 2 years without success. Before we met, I was skeptical. I worried that he was too young and inexperienced. But he quickly proved me wrong. He answered all our questions and concerns, explained to us all our options (IUI and IVF) with risk and success rate, and suggested us to go with IUI first....he found out that I had polyps in the uterus, which caused me to bleed in between periods and reduced my success rate. After a successful surgery performed by Dr. Homer and 2 failing IUI, we decided to move on to IVF.
Overall a good experience. RSC has good facilities, and the San Jose office is at a convenient location. Nurses were great. Judi was on top off things. The only thing that I would like to see improvement is the financial department. We keep getting bills that was not correct....Dr. Homer is professional yet have a sense of humor. He is knowledgable yet very friendly. And he is also considerate and have a good bedside manner.... I was very happy to graduate from RSC, yet was sad to leave

We did 3 egg retrievals with different meds. The first 2 cycles were cancelled and the last didn’t result in any embryos on day 5. Meds used were gonal f, cetrotide, menopur, lupron, ovidrel, etc.
Half the IUI cycles used clomid and the other half used letrazole. I also used progesterone suppositories.

Would definitely recommend to others. I saw him for my initial fertility workup and for my saline sonogram. My IUI was performed at another clinic by another nurse, same with cycle monitoring ultrasounds

Describe Michael Vance Homer's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Reproductive Science Center (US Fertility Network clinic).
He [Dr. Homer ] constantly talked about statistics, i never felt like an individual, just someone he knew would be a failure or a bad outcome for him. I never even met him or know what he looks like...He was kind and compassionate but clearly didn’t want to treat me because he felt I wouldn’t be successful and look good for his “numbers” Didn’t listen to me, which resulted in me wasting money...
Staff [at Reproductive Science Center] was ok. Front desk staff very unfriendly Providers were different for every IUI or appointment I never got to know anyone or met anyone specifically handling my care Not overly impressed, clinic wasn’t welcoming feel...Lindsay [nurse] was readily available and responded quickly to questions...I asked for a baseline US as I sometimes ovulate early but I was dismissed by the team. Spent money on meds and the cycle was canceled, all Could’ve been avoided if they listened to me and did a baseline US...

Dr. Homer provided exceptional, evidence-based, compassionate care every step of the way through our infertility journey. He applied his expertise in PCOS to make the best recommendations for treatment, while including our personal family planning goals too. He explained all of the risks and benefits of IVF and communicated with us each step of the process to verify we understood. Dr. Homer always had a warm and compassionate bedside manner that I appreciated so much, especially when we received the news of a biochemical pregnancy with our second embryo transfer. During this time, he explained exactly what was happening and validated my feelings which was comforting. When we wanted to move forward with a third embryo transfer with my next cycle, Dr. Homer explained the risks and benefits and supported the decision based on his expert analysis of my clinical status. We are now 11 weeks pregnant with our second baby. We are so grateful to Dr. Homer for his expertise, and honest, caring support throughout our time at RSC.

He listened intently when we described our infertility history and our hopes for multiple children someday. He then applied that information to make treatment recommendations that fit our personal goals. We had no idea what would be the best path for our family, but Dr. Homer clearly outlined all of our options and communicated with us every step of the process.

[Dr. Michael Vance Homer] was very good kind and was able to explain the reason why I was not able to conceive. I could feel that he really wanted us to enjoy parenthood and he used best of his knowledge to take good and appropriate decision. He always ensured that I get the best possible option and not waste my time and money into something which is not necessary for us...I was not very sure earlier if I really want to get treatment from Dr Homer as he was new and he had not that much experience but I got some trust after my first meeting when he could correctly explained the reason of my infertility. He has very good knowledge. He can take good decisions and will suggest the best option for his patient
The nursing staff [at Reproductive Science Center] were very good and communicative and always showed warmth and passion...They have multiple clinics, which is very good as you can go the the one which is very close to you. Sometimes you may have to go to some clinic which are far like San Ramon one for egg retrieval. But overall clinic quality was very good...My Dr approached eSET and I think it was best decision for us...

From our very first appointment with Dr. Homer, my husband and I felt we were in good hands...has a very effective communication style...is clear in terms of what to expect...has a very soothing demeanor...has been very methodical in answering our questions...I am now pregnant and really happy.
I had a good experience with RSC [Reproductive Science Center], in general. Especially my care team which included Dr. Michael Homer and nursing care practitioner Rachel Constada...the insurance and finance department seemed to be a bit disorganized and less responsive at times...If you have any questions or concerns, be proactive.

He [Dr. Michael Vance Homer] is caring and understanding...attempted to explain to me nicely that maybe we should consider doing a whole new Ivf procedure instead of using the embryo we had because of the slightly less chances of this one making it but we insisted on taking our chances and boy was that a mistake. I wish I could go back in time and actually remember that I know nothing about reproduction and dr homer knows best.

After everything going so perfect with our first child through Rsc we came back to have our second child (last embryo). Dr homer attempted to explain to me nicely that maybe we should consider doing a whole new Ivf procedure instead of using the embryo we had because of the slightly less chances of this one making it but we insisted on taking our chances and boy was that a mistake. I wish I could go back in time and actually remember that I know nothing about reproduction and dr homer knows best. To any patients out there in a similar situation please listen and take dr Homer's suggestion. Nothing hurts more than a miscarriage after all the injections and medication and preparing for the baby.

I have nothing but good comments for [Dr. Michael Vance Homer]. He's very caring, thoughtful, and thorough. He walked us through steps by steps. He made sure we understand our risks and choices, how long the procedure might be. He cheered for us and sad for us when there was a hiccups...He's passionate about this profession. He cares about his patient and was very thoughtful...Be positive, if there's a will, there's a way.
I like the old office [at Reproductive Science Center] more than the new office. The new office is bigger, so it's spread out. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask. I was a newbie about the injection and the type of medication, so I often had to go back to re-read the email instruction that sent out by their office. I'm so glad they did or I would have called them 5x per day for the first week...Everyone there was very professional and sweet toward us.
