didn’t communicate with [Dr. Natalie Crawford] through out the process outside of procedures that didn’t give much time to talk since we were always in a time crunch...she rarely discussed any treatment or plans about what was going to happen...My treatment was basic...No discussion with me about what she was doing and why. It was just what she did.
I went through testing, egg retrieval, hysteroscopy and embryo transfer with Fora...was assigned a coordinator who was extremely rude...transfer resulted in a loss right before the second trimester...just received an email from the clinic asking me about my delivery and birth details from the transfer that I had through them
How was your experience with Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility?
I can’t say I have much experience because I didn’t communicate with her through out the process outside of procedures that didn’t give much time to talk since we were always in a time crunch and she was between patients and whatever else she had going on. With the minimal time I did get with her, she rarely discussed any treatment or plans about what was going to happen. She had her nurses talk me through everything.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility?
Don’t do it. There are better clinics with drs who will show compassion and humanity vs just checking you off a list as a financial gain.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility?
The level of communication from her was minimal and when there was communication (after having to go through hoops to set an appt with her) the quality of time and response was lacking. Her time with patients was timed down by the minute vs giving actual care to questions. She spoke for the entirety of the time and allowed for minimal questions before the time was up for our appt. It was very apparent that it was just another task she was checking off her list before she posted on social media.
Describe the protocols Natalie Crawford used in your cycles at Fora Fertility and their degree of success.
My treatment was basic. Unknown so she was just going through the basics of what she would do. No discussion with me about what she was doing and why. It was just what she did.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fora Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Liz)
Initially, I was assigned a coordinator who was extremely rude, no matter how much i tried to find a way to connect. She was doing her job as a robotically as I’ve ever seen. In this industry, there just can’t be a lack of compassion. It’s just not right.
Later I was assigned a different one due to some movement in their clinic and she was better but still wasn’t as informative as I have experienced later in my time with a different clinic
Describe your experience with Fora Fertility.
I’ve waited some time to rate this clinic to ensure I was speaking my truth with clarity. Fora was the first clinic I communicated with and it seemed black and white, simple. Dr. Crawford seemed knowledgeable (she’s all over social media with information which is great) and I didn’t think too far into it. I went through testing, egg retrieval, hysteroscopy and embryo transfer with Fora. The transfer resulted in a loss right before the second trimester. Looking back at my full experience (and especially after having some experience with a different clinic now), I’m appalled at their lack of service within the staff (you walk into the clinic and everyone is just chatting amongst themselves and when you’re seen, staff is cold and sterile). When you ask the dr questions, you’re met with very generic responses, and not a lot of transparency. After my loss, all I got was a message saying sorry and when asked if I could talk to my dr since I was shocked, I was told I had to basically pay to communicate further with her. I was appalled. After such a loss, you’d think your dr would show some compassion but it was very apparent that it was all about money.
They do not see their patients as people, more so as dollar signs.
It’s been a year now and I just received an email from the clinic asking me about my delivery and birth details from the transfer that I had through them. Again, completely shocked to see something like that show up in my email considering having a pregnancy loss is a highly sensitive topic, you would think they would be more careful and update their charts. Disappointed but not surprised considering my experience with them.

What specific things went wrong at Fora Fertility?
No other options except IVF were discussed...My medical notes contained information that stated that all of this was discussed with me when it hadn't been...I blame her [Dr. Natalie Crawford] for not doing follow-up bloodwork, or an HSG, or any tests for that matter before I paid $30,000 out of pocket for IVF... As soon as any questions that challenged her suggestions were asked, all bets were off.
The clinic [Aspire Fertility (formerly RMA of Texas)] itself is run like a well-oiled machine as far as I was concerned. Other than refusing to allow me to transfer to another doctor when I did not get along well with Dr. Crawford, I had a very pleasant experience there & I was comfortable at each appointment...The staff was very nice, accommodating, & responsive. But Dr. Crawford didn't do any tests of her own & simply suggested (highly) that I START with IVF because I want a second child down the road.
How was your experience with Natalie Crawford at Aspire Fertility - Austin (Prelude Network clinic)?
If I could give 0 stars I would, but to be fair, the staff at Aspire were always very nice & accommodating. I don't really know where to begin with why you should avoid this place like the plague (specifically Dr. Natalie Crawford). I was referred here by my OBGYN after some slightly low test results, & during the very first visit (a consultation) I was immediately told by Dr. Crawford that it would be in my best interest to move forward with IVF. Mind you, I was 27 years old, with low AMH & slightly high FSH. My husband & I had been trying to conceive for less than a year. However, due to the fear those test results caused me, knowing nothing about infertility & the other options I had, as well as trusting my doctor's opinion, I truly believed that IVF would be the only thing that would get me what I wanted. So I went ahead & paid out of pocket for 1 round of IVF. Also, no more tests were run before I paid full price for this. We went solely based on the bloodwork I had received from my OBGYN. By no fault of the doctors, none of my embryos made it to blastocysts. Of course this was devastating, & my husband was very upset after doing more research, as he felt that Dr. Crawford talked me into something & used my vulnerability & desire for a child to persuade me into this huge (& expensive) step before trying anything else. He voiced this to her during our follow-up appointment, to which Dr. Crawford responded that he was "verbally aggressive" & interrupted him with "no, it's my turn to talk, stop talking". As soon as any questions that challenged her suggestions were asked, all bets were off. She was rude to my husband as well as myself, answering my questions with 1 or 2 words when I was already in a very fragile & confused state. She told me I likely had an egg quality issue, & would probably never become pregnant on my own without more IVF.
I ended up making an appointment with another RE for a second opinion, & she used to work at Aspire. She told me that she would ask Dr. Skillern if I could transfer to her so that I could maintain some sort of normalcy & familiarity through my second round without having to see the same doctor. I was later told by this RE that I could not transfer to Dr. Skillern because "Dr. Crawford had told Dr. Skillern that my husband asked to leave the practice"; which never happened in any discussion that we had, a blatant lie. I was floored. So there went another option for me (or so it felt like).
To make things even worse, I requested my records from Aspire, & while going through them, noticed so many false statements I couldn't believe it, despite everything that had happened. Dr. Crawford reported in these notes that during our first consultation, she went over all options of fertility treatment with me, & that "it may take several IVF rounds to have a successful outcome". NONE OF THAT WAS EVER EVEN BROUGHT UP TO ME IN THE SLIGHTEST! To the contrary, I asked one of the nurses after my appointment with Dr. Crawford was over if Dr. Crawford felt that I may need more than 1 round & she responded with "no, Dr. Crawford will tell us if she believes there's a high chance of that, & she didn't say that so that means she feels that this will truly get you what you want". She also wrote that risks of my egg retrieval were reviewed with me, such as needing a blood transfusion in severe situations. Again, never even mentioned in the slightest.
Let me just clarify, I do not blame Dr. Crawford or Aspire for my failed cycle. I know that nature does it's own thing, & no doctor can be sure what the outcome will be when it comes to fertility. I blame her for being rude, for taking advantage of my vulnerability & fragile mental state at the time (that I'm still very much affected by), for straight-out lying in my medical notes (which I believe is very illegal). I blame her for not doing follow-up bloodwork, or an HSG, or any tests for that matter before I paid $30,000 out of pocket for IVF. I want to say more, but I'm out of room!
P.s. I am now 15 wks pregnant (naturally!!!) with a little girl :)

No other options except IVF were discussed with me. My medical notes contained information that stated that all of this was discussed with me when it hadn't been. I was also never "prepared" for multiple cycles of IVF.
When first researching her [Dr. Natalie Crawford], I didn't like her strong social media presence and the fact that she talked about patients (without mentioning their names) on social media...My first consultation was OK. During one point in the consultation I got upset (Infertility is emotional people, but I'm preaching to the choir, you all know this.). Dr. Crawford just kept talking and didn't stop to address my emotions. This should have been my first red flag.
During my previous visit, I mentioned to Dr. Crawford, my fertility coach, and other staff [at Aspire] how uncomfortable my husband would be giving the SA. Even leading up to our appointment, I spoke back and forth with office staff on the possibility of him doing it at home and bringing his sample in...they placed my husband in a room right by the nurses desk and the waiting room. He could hear every word the nurses said, every person who checked in at the desk, and even when they called me back to our consultation room. Why would they have not taken notes about how uncomfortable I told him he would be and placed him in the room furthest away from everyone? Instead, they placed him in the least private of all the SA rooms
How was your experience with Natalie Crawford at Aspire Fertility - Austin (Prelude Network clinic)?
Summary: Dr. Crawford has poor bedside manner when dealing with emotional patients.
My OGBYN referred me to Dr. Crawford. When first researching her, I didn't like her strong social media presence and the fact that she talked about patients (without mentioning their names) on social media. I also lived over an hour away from her office, so it would be a pain to make the trip often; however, my OGBYN loved her so I decided to give her a try.
My first consultation was OK. During one point in the consultation I got upset (Infertility is emotional people, but I'm preaching to the choir, you all know this.). Dr. Crawford just kept talking and didn't stop to address my emotions. This should have been my first red flag. However, I let it go with the thought that maybe she thought if she just kept talking I would be able to pull myself together and we could move forward.
I came back for my second appointment for my husband to do a semen analysis (SA). Once his SA was complete, Dr. Crawford would be able to go over next steps with us. During my previous visit, I mentioned to Dr. Crawford, my fertility coach, and other staff how uncomfortable my husband would be giving the SA. Even leading up to our appointment, I spoke back and forth with office staff on the possibility of him doing it at home and bringing his sample in. Ultimately, he decided to do the analysis in the office because we were concerned with the 1 hour time frame that we had to get the sample to the lab (remember, we live 1 hour away) .
The day of our appointment, they placed my husband in a room right by the nurses desk and the waiting room. He could hear every word the nurses said, every person who checked in at the desk, and even when they called me back to our consultation room. Why would they have not taken notes about how uncomfortable I told him he would be and placed him in the room furthest away from everyone? Instead, they placed him in the least private of all the SA rooms. Unfortunately, he was not able to provide a SA.
We then waited on Dr. Crawford for our consultation. We were greeted by a nurse who said Dr. Crawford would not be able to see us today because my husband had not been able to provide a SA. I immediately start crying. First, We had driven an hour, how can she not just come into the room and talk to us and explain possible options (option 1: if his SA came back good. option 2: if it came back bad). Second, I'm her patient too, not just him. Come talk to me and my husband about what's going on with me and the blood work results from the last appointment.
Because I got upset, the nurse went to get Dr. Crawford. As soon as she entered the room Dr. Crawford was on the defense. Instead of giving me a chance to talk and explain my concerns, she immediately started explain why it was unethical for her to treat us without his SA. Unfortunately, I tried to talk over her in order for me to express my concerns. Her response: "I feel like you are personally attacking me." UMMM.... WHAT?!? She then proceeded to say "It's unethical for me to f***ing take your money without his SA." So now she has refused to see us, said I was attacking her, and she cursed.
I should have trusted my gut from my first consultation when she ignored me when I got upset and kept talking. Based on her reaction to my emotions at my second appointment, she clearly needs more work in how to properly deal with patient emotions. I needed a hug, a "it's going to be OK, here are next steps," not cursing and refusal to see me.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Aspire Fertility - Austin (Prelude Network clinic).
After my first consultation, I was supposed to take an antibiotic. When I got to my pharmacy, over an hour after my appointment, they still did not have my prescription. I emailed my nurse and she immediately called it in, apologized, and asked my pharmacy to do what they could to fill it quickly because I was waiting.
She [Dr. Natalie Crawford] spent a little over an hour consulting with me and my husband where she asked to meet our dog and referenced specific details of my intake form that told me she took the time to learn our story. She explained female reproductive things to my husband and we had a good conversation...She took the time to know us and screen for anything that may have been missed. She cares and wants us to be successful...She's going to call it like it is, but that's not because she doesn't care. She just wants to make sure you know what you best chances are. She really cares a lot.
It is about average [costs] for our area [at Fora Fertility], but their statistics are higher, they are about to own a state of the art lab, and they're transparent on cost from the beginning. They understand cost and passing till you are able to move forward. I think it's worth it...their strengths would be communication, compassion, a true family feeling, transparency, education, thorough. Not there yet, but she only does single and I think this is not only safest but smartest. She's also following the scientific community's best practice in doing so.

How was your experience with Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility?
Dr. Crawford is incredibly knowledgeable about fertility, and I do not regret going to her for my egg retrievals because she was proactive about tweaking the procedures so they would work better for me. However, it quickly became apparent that Dr. Crawford cares more about her public image than her patients, because as soon as my case wasn't producing the expected results, I was ghosted.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility?
She is a good option if you are going to be an "easy" fertility case, but once things get tough I wouldn't expect much help or empathy. I would likely recommend Dr. Crawford to LGBTQ+ patients or patients with a better chance of conceiving via IVF.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility?
Communication with the clinic was pretty poor and I was completely ghosted by Fora once I tried to inquire about transferring the low mosaic embryos I had. I had to reach out multiple times and was brushed off each time, so I ended up changing clinics. I was rarely treated like a values patient even though I had followed Dr. Crawford from her previous.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Fora Fertility.
The nursing staff was pretty terrible with the exception of Ricky, who was the only nurse I found warm and compassionate. I was often greeted coldly by the front desk staff and there was a sense of disorganization when I was in the office. Communication was rough, which I first chalked up to being a newer clinic, but it never improved and eventually, they just stopped responding to me when I wanted to move on to transferring low mosaic embryos or looking into egg donation.
Describe your experience with Fora Fertility.
Fora's weakness is that they care more about image than their patients. It feels more like a clique than a professional doctor's office, and if you are not welcomed into the clique it will make the experience miserable. Their strength is the knowledge that Dr. Crawford has about fertility, but the lack of compassion and communication by the clinic overshadows that.
Describe Natalie Crawford's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fora Fertility.
Dr. Crawford strongly preferred only transferring one embryo at a time.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fora Fertility.
I had a particularly poor experience after my miscarriage where my hormone levels spiked after steadily going down, so I was scheduled for a D&C. I took time off work, went to the hospital, was in my gown, and was ready to be taken in for the D&C when Dr. Crawford walked in and told me there had been a mistake with my results and I did not need the D&C unless I wanted it. I understand this mistake was a miscommunication from the lab but the nurses waited until the last minute to respond to the lab and we never received any apologies from Fora. After already going through a miscarriage, it was a lot of additional emotion and trauma.
Dr. Crawford is incredibly knowledgeable and knows her craft very well! She takes pride in her work and I can tell that she loves helping people build their families. Describe the protocols Natalie Crawford used in your cycles at Fora Fertility and their degree of success.
My 3 IVF cycles seemed to be “by the book” so to speak in the sense that my body responded very well to the protocol. The doctor adjusted the time of my trigger shot during the second egg retrieval due to trying to ensure my eggs were mature and ready. That adjust brought forth a healthy, viable embryo.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fora Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Melissa)
Melissa (Mel) was my primary nurse but I also had Ricki as well. Both nurses were so kind and always put me at ease. They answered all of my questions and never made me feel like any question was too silly. They both took wonderful care of me.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Fora Fertility.
My monitoring appointments were quick and easy in the sense that I was always seen on time. The Dr. Crawford was able to assess me and provided follow up. She made time to answer my questions as well. I was aware of the next steps each and every time.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility.
For the first two IVF cycles we used our insurance but paid mostly out of pocket. For the third IVF cycle, my husband’s company offered Progyny, which paid for 90% of the cycle as well as the transfer and storage. We were well aware of the cost in advance before we began any treatment as the office was upfront with costs.
Describe Natalie Crawford's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fora Fertility.
I didn’t even consider or ask for the possibility of a multiple embryo transfer due to the possibility of more than one child. Both processes were explained to me but the data and my age made eSET the best approach.
[Dr. Crawford] is very kind but our encounters are very brief. I get the feeling that she will answer any questions I have, but the answers are brief, and our encounters feel a bit rushed. Ultimately, I feel I am in good hands... I researched and learned a lot of great information before choosing her as my doctor. As a patient, I do not feel I have gotten the degree of detail and education on every step of the process I expected
Fora Fertility is marketed as a boutique fertility clinic and they are working on that goal. They are not there yet. The biggest barrier I see to this goal is staffing. It seems their current nursing staff is overworked and stretched thin. Doctor Crawford and Skillern need to do everything they can to support their nurses. The billing coordinator, the receptionist, and the other staff I have interacted with have been kind and helpful.
How was your experience with Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility?
Dr. Crawford has a very educational podcast/youtube channel. I researched and learned a lot of great information before choosing her as my doctor. As a patient, I do not feel I have gotten the degree of detail and education on every step of the process I expected. I still utilize the education she provides on her podcast, but do not expect that she will make you feel as informed if you are a patient and do not listen to her podcasts seperately.
As a patient, she is very kind but our encounters are very brief. I get the feeling that she will answer any questions I have, but the answers are brief, and our encounters feel a bit rushed.
Ultimately, I feel I am in good hands. I got a good result from my retrieval and I trust that we will achieve our goals with her as our doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility?
She is building a new practice and building her online presence. She does not give the same attention to you that she does her other endeavors. That being said, she is available and approachable and, as with most doctors, you must advocate for yourself and be sure you are asking lots of questions as the process unfolds.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility?
I feel like Dr. Crawford says things during appointments that reference information that is unique to my case and our previous encounters. This helps me feel like it is a more personal interaction. Also, my nurse is very approachable and personable and I definitey feel like she does a good job of explaining everything and also remembers our previous interactions.
Describe the protocols Natalie Crawford used in your cycles at Fora Fertility and their degree of success.
I don't remember the name of the protocol, but for our retrieval, we used Follistim and menopur for stims and ganirelix to prevent premature ovulation. We triggered with pregnyl/lupron. Rationale for this protocol was because they predicted I would be a high responder due to my AFC of 20. The retrieval was successful with 27 eggs retrieved, 22 fertilized, 11 embryos, 6 of which were PGT normal achieved.
My thyroid was tested and I was started on Synthroid during this time after retrieval to prep for transfer. Additionally, vitamin D levels were checked.
For our FET, we did a modified natural cycle with letrozole, frequent monitoring appointments, IM injections of Progesterone in oil, doxycyline, and methylprednisolone. The rationale for this protocol was my preference and the fact that I ovulated regularly/normally prior to fertility treatments. Although my lining was 7.5 mm, this ended in a chemical pregnancy.
The next step for us is an ERA cycle to ensure my endometrial receptivity is properly timed with progesterone exposure. For this cycle, we will utilize a controlled cycle; this means I will not ovulate at all. Lupron injections are used to keep my ovaries "quiet". Estrace is used to build my endometrial lining. Methylprednisolone and doxycyline/ PIO injections are used just as with an FET but instead of transferring an embryo at the end of the cycle, they will do two endometrial biopsies, 2 days apart, to determine receptivity. Because we are utilizing a controlled cycle for the ERA, we will do a controlled cycle for the next transfer to reduce as many variables as possible.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fora Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Melissa)
The nursing staff is excellent. Absolutely fantastic, organized, personable, and willing to answer questions. They are, however, understaffed and overworked. They need support and I believe they could be even better, if additional nurses were hired to support the team.
Describe your experience with Fora Fertility.

Describe Natalie Crawford's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fora Fertility.
My doctor only gave the option for 1 PGT normal embryo to be transfered at a time.
Appointments [with Dr. Crawford] were rushed. She talked to me as if I knew all of the acronyms, the processes or remembered every single word she told me from previous visits. Dr Crawford did not like when I asked questions or challenged something she said. She used a lot of generalizations as it related to my own very personal and unique situation....
All staff and doctors [at Fora Fertility] are women which I typically like. In general there is a lack of professionalism and accountability...She [nurse] was the least detailed oriented person and had next to no compassion. It was obvious she didn't like her job and she ultimately left the clinic...Crawford will only transfer one embryo at a time due to the risks of multiples....
How was your experience with Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility?
I started seeing Dr Crawford at another clinic. Initially, I was very impressed by her. She is very active on social media and has her own podcast which can be very educational and helpful! Unfortunately, she's not as she appears on social media. I can absolutely see the appeal from followers who aren't her actual patients. But she is not the same at all once you become a patient. I followed her to her new practice because I was afraid to start over with someone new. She had a lot of growing pains opening the new office. She even charged more for the same thing I had already paid for at the old clinic and got refunded to follow her. Absolutely no loyalty. I did two ivf cycles and had 1 embryo which was not successful. Ultimately, I was a patient of hers for 1.5 years before switching to a new Dr. Upon switching, I learned I had a significant uterine disorder that was not curable. How did she miss that? Did she know and not tell me? Had I known I could no longer carry, I would have seeked out a GC. My new Dr easily found it on ultrasound only a couple of months after I stopped seeing Crawford. She cost me my one and only embryo.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility?
If your situation is anything outside of the normal happy path, seek another Dr. Don't let her social media, podcasts or YouTube videos lure you in. She doesn't put the same effort or passion into her patients.

IVF cycle with pgs testing was roughly 28k
Describe Natalie Crawford's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fora Fertility.
Crawford will only transfer one embryo at a time due to the risks of multiples.
What specific things went wrong at Fora Fertility?
My first experience with Dr. Crawford was an HSG...walked in to the exam room, barely introduced herself and didn’t ask me any questions about why I was there or provide information about what was going to happen...did the procedure which was extremely painful and told me not to sit up and opened the door with my feet still in the stirrups, exposing me to anyone outside the door and left. I was not able to talk to Dr. Crawford or get any information at all unless I scheduled a separate appointment two weeks later to “establish care” even though I had just had an invasive procedure in her office.
The staff at Fora is very apathetic. They provide very little information and if they do help you at all, they make it seem like they are going way out of their way for you. Everything about my experience with Fora staff has been very questionable and it made my treatment much much more difficult then it should have been...would not schedule me or let me know what days were available or even talk to me at all until I paid in full online.
How was your experience with Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility?
I was given very little information from Dr. Crawford. I had to switch doctors as soon as I was able and found out from my new provider that I was not the first patient to leave Fora Fertility because of bad experiences.
Dr. Crawford prescribed me medications that my new provider indicated were not necessary and I should not be taking. I was prescribed these medications from Dr. Crawford without any information on what she was prescribing and why, or how to take them. I had an idea that was the case so I pushed back on this and Fora demanded that I take them and called me to make sure I took the meds.
My new provider has had many concerns about Dr. Crawfords approach to my treatment.
Additionally, I was not given any information on when my surgery would need to be scheduled. I was not given a timeframe or any details to prepare which I had asked for because I needed to prepare to take time off of work. They would not schedule me or let me know what days were available or even talk to me at all until I paid in full online. There was a line item for an unexplained dollar amount for services rendered that day and I was required to submit payment without a bill, an explanation, or any idea of when the producer would happen (or if it would happen at all). I was forced to pay to get anyone to talk to me and then I received a call with the time of my surgery. Still no date provided... and then I found out it was schedule one day out which put my life in a panic. My new provider let me know that this is a procedure that can most certainly be planned for and scheduled ahead of time so the entire experience was not only nerve racking but completely unnecessary.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility?
I would never recommend that a friend or prospective patient seek care with Dr. Crawford. My advice would be to search for a reputable clinic.

I should also mention that after my consultation with Dr. Crawford she provided a treatment plan and indicated that her team would contact me for next steps and testing. This never happened and I have not been able to have any of these tests done. If you want to get treated at Fora you have to fight for yourself. Hard.
She [Dr. Natalie Crawford] talked to me in the same way she would talk to her sister regarding fertility advice. She explained the scientific version of things and was also attentive to the emotional side...Ask her about her own experience and her podcast...a godsend for women like me who want to be mothers but could not follow the easiest path to get there
To me, Fora is more than a clinic, it is a movement. It is run by women who really know their craft. These women took risks to create this clinic. They went out on a limb to follow their own principles and realize their own dreams. These women are doing what they believe in every day. They do it for themselves and they do it for their patients.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility.
We were paying out of pocket and were surprised by the separate cost of transfer after we had paid for the egg retrieval etc already.
Dr. Crawford was the best doctor I have seen since being diagnosed with PCOS at age 21. At this stage in my life of trying to become a mother, finding a doctor who would be understanding, yet honest, was most important. She explained every option for conception and even drew out the process on pieces of paper so we had a visual!... When I was diagnosed with DVT in the emergency room she was my advocate. She made me feel like I had someone in my corner the whole time and I will never be able to make her know how amazing that feels.
The clinic [Austin Fertility Institute] is excellent. It’s small so you don’t feel overwhelmed and the staff make it personable. Never any long wait times and minimal paperwork. They are very accommodating to your schedule with appointments and make it easy to be seen.... The absolute best team of nurses I’ve ever met in an office. They know you by name and somehow they all keep up with your journey. They are all trained to do so many things to help out with your care.

Don’t be afraid to talk to her. Be honest. She is not a doctor who can’t handle tears and crying. She is straight forward but comforting in every step of your journey.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Natalie Crawford at Austin Fertility Institute?
Dr. Crawford is a very patient centered physician. Her calm tone of voice as well as her thorough, yet simple, explanation of every step of the process made it easy for us to understand what was going to happen. She was quick to respond to questions without making me feel like a bother.
Describe the protocols Natalie Crawford used in your cycles at Austin Fertility Institute and their degree of success.
After my consult, she recommended that we go straight to IVF. This was because of my PCOS diagnosis and also because of my husband’s sperm analysis. We did hormone injections to produce follicles followed by egg retrieval, which produced 30 eggs. We did ICSI, which resulted in 18 frozen embryos.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Austin Fertility Institute.
It was very easy to go in for monitoring. They did the appointments in the morning so it was convenient for me and my hectic work schedule. Visits were quick, usually in and out in about an hour. Never long waits or waiting room full of patients.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Natalie Crawford at Austin Fertility Institute.
Dr. Crawford is so incredibly compassionate, especially when delivering bad news. You could tell that it was difficult for her to even have to give us the bad news, but she answered every question we possibly could have had and was available via email....She welcomed our input even when it came to treatment protocols. For example, I responded very poorly to lupron and had a lot of side effects ... I felt hesitant to even discuss that I did not want to do another lupron cycle, but when I expressed my hesitation she agreed.
Loved all of the nurses at AFI. Just like Dr. Crawford, they were knowledgeable and compassionate. The only downside was the difficulty in reaching them via phone because it is such a busy practice....Would have been nice to meet with a financial coordinator to walk us through the costs of IVF and how insurance related to our out of pocket costs....Loved that the lab was in house and they would even be able to run the labs on the weekends.
How was your experience with Natalie Crawford at Austin Fertility Institute?
She was extremely knowledgeable and could provide evidence behind almost everything as it related to IVF. I could not have asked for a better doctor to guide us through our first few cycles of IVF. She welcomed our input even when it came to treatment protocols. For example, I responded very poorly to lupron and had a lot of side effects ... I felt hesitant to even discuss that I did not want to do another lupron cycle, but when I expressed my hesitation she agreed. She was always upbeat and positive, but also realistic. After our first egg retrieval ended with only 1 embryo, we changed strategies from embryo banking to just trying to have 1 baby. I'm glad we were all on the same page the whole way through.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Natalie Crawford at Austin Fertility Institute?
Ask her any questions that you may have, because her answers are based on extensive knowledge and will make you feel more at ease.

Describe the protocols Natalie Crawford used in your cycles at Austin Fertility Institute and their degree of success.
First was antagonist protocol with gonalF, menopur, ganirelex and ovidrel trigger. Made it to egg retrieval with 6 eggs retrieved, only 1 embryo (PGS abnormal). Due to concern that maybe the follicles were growing quickly and weren't used to the stimulation, OCP and lupron was added the 2nd cycle (started at 10 units, then tapered to 5). Also added HGH for possibly an increase in number of follicles. Had horrible side effects to lupron ... would feel feverish, chills, aches. There was only 1 dominant follicle so we did IUI that failed. 3rd cycle was the normal antagonist protocol with HGH. Follicles did not respond to medication at all and that cycle was cancelled.

Would have been nice to meet with a financial coordinator to walk us through the costs of IVF and how insurance related to our out of pocket costs. The lady who handles their insurance told us at our last visit that we needed to pay several thousand dollars out of pocket because our insurance benefits had run out, but we told her that we had an HRA and we also had a credit... and then she confirmed that (but only after we mentioned it).
Loved that the lab was in house and they would even be able to run the labs on the weekends.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Natalie Crawford at Austin Fertility Institute.
From what I can recall, each ultrasound monitoring appointment was around 180 (based on the contracted rate with my insurance), which was approx $1000 in the first cycle. The surgical center costs were the bulk of what we had to pay out of pocket. It was approximately $4000 for the egg retrieval/lab and $4000 for PGS testing.

Lupron was automatically ordered even though it was not what was going to be used for the next cycle.
She [Dr. Crawford] is incredibly knowledgable, up to date in the latest research/technology/procedures, personable, and upbeat without giving a false sense of hope...Dr. Crawford remembered exactly who we were each time we saw her...I ended up being one of the "lucky" folks to suffer from severe OHSS (even though my #s did not indicate I would be at risk), and she did not rest until I was feeling better, including communicating with me at 6am.

Calls were always returned within 24 hours, paperwork requested for financial assistance filled out in a timely manner, questions pleasantly answered.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Natalie Crawford at Austin Fertility Institute?
Trust her. I didn't want to have the saline sonogram that she recommended because I had recently had an HSG performed elsewhere. While she was willing to work with me for 1 cycle without doing the sonogram as I was concerned about costs, I ultimately decided to trust her. Very glad I did as we found 2 uterine polyps that the HSG had not detected.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Natalie Crawford at Austin Fertility Institute?
Dr. Crawford remembered exactly who we were each time we saw her - including what my career is and the fact that it might mean needing to schedule appointments at very specific times. She greeted us with a smile every time we saw her except for the times when we it was more appropriate to greet us with compassion during a difficult time in our treatment. I ended up being one of the "lucky" folks to suffer from severe OHSS (even though my #s did not indicate I would be at risk), and she did not rest until I was feeling better, including communicating with me at 6am.
We always came in with a list of questions which were pleasantly answered, and yet Dr. Crawford managed to schedule her appointments with enough time inbetween to be respectful of our other time commitments - I rarely waited more than 15 minutes to be seen. They built their practice to recognize people have lives outside of this endeavor, making it possible to have blood drawn at their office rather than running around town.
In addition to Dr. Crawford's incredible bedside manner, her support team was equally up to the task, answering questions with a pleasant demeanor, recognizing my severe needle anxiety and walking me through administrating it without judgment.
Describe the protocols Natalie Crawford used in your cycles at Austin Fertility Institute and their degree of success.
I forget the name of the protocol, but it included starting with birth control, then using Gonal F and menopur, later adding ganirelix, and using ovidrel as a trigger. This had to do with the fact that I ovulated regularly and she thought this would produce the highest quantity of eggs within a safe range. We ended up with 18 eggs harvested, 18 embryos being fertilized with ICSI, with 9 of them making it to day 5/6. We did a freeze all because even though my estrogen was below 3000, I still developed severe OHSS. We then elected to do a SET starting with Estrogen pill and patch and progesterone pill and crinone, switching to PIO after my progesterone levels were borderline (she likes them higher for IVF patients than what one might see if one conceived the old fashioned way to lower the risk of miscarriage.

Describe Natalie Crawford's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Austin Fertility Institute.
She didn't seem to have a strong preference; she explained the statistical likelihood of different outcomes. We felt fairly strongly about only transferring 1 embryo given my age, size, and the statistics she presented to us.
[Natalie Crawford] Strengths: Wonderful at explaining options visually and listening. Warm, compassionate, and affirming. Weaknesses: Did not anticipate devastation and confusion I would feel emailing very negative test results before explaining them to me. Muddled order of treatments for multiple diagnoses....Did not prepare me well for what to expect during treatment with very low ovarian reserve. Did not monitor progress early enough, lead to cancelled cycle.
[UNC] Strengths: clean, INCREDIBLE nursing staff, great email communication, good and responsive support with insurance Weaknesses: not always flexible to accommodate difficult patient protocols, appointments not always on time...The nursing staff at UNC are amazing. Compassionate, responsive, proactive in problem solving....To maximize chances of success for women with severe DOR, there should probably some flexibility around start dates.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at UNC Fertility.
First, one cycle ended with an exceptionally painful ovarian cyst rupture after egg retrieval, and doctors claimed it was a coincidence -- when I was doubled over in pain they said it was more likely to be appendicitis than a result of their procedure. As far as I could tell, they do not keep data on complications from egg retrievals, so they should probably listen to their patients. Second, I had two diagnoses: severe DOR and septate uterus. Doctor suggested I immediately embark on as many cycles of IVF as possible to freeze embryos for future children before correcting septate uterus to make implantation more likely. I went through four cycles of treatment (one cancelled) with zero freezable embryos, and three fresh embryo transfers before a different doctor in the clinic (not mine) finally suggested we correct abnormality before spending money on another cycle (as I had been suggesting!). On IVF cycle after hysteroscopy implantation was successful. Third, standard use of estridiol pills to sync me up with the rest of the patients for clinical management was completely counterproductive -- my follicles simply did not respond and would not grow together under this treatment. The only cycle that I successfully retrieved a decent number of eggs, my natural cycle just happened to sync up with the start date. To maximize chances of success for women with severe DOR, there should probably some flexibility around start dates.
She [Dr. Natalie Crawford] was very warm, explained answers to our basic science questions well, and helped us understand the plan with the highest chance of success. After a very quick miscarriage, she was incredibly gentle and gave us time and encouragement for when we were ready... She was very warm, very honest and straightforward about our options, and when we had a negative interaction right before a critical step, she came in and reassured us we were on the right path
Strength [of UNC] was the quality of most of the staff. It is a teaching location, but I was a nerd who liked hearing what in-training fellows needed to know, and hear the thoughts of doctors out loud. The wait list is intimidating, especially if there's anything on the male side thay needs to be done.... They followed industry guidelines and only transferred one embryo the first time in a fresh cycle. Ethics guidelines gave us the option to put in 2 eggs the next time in a frozen transfer, and though one person we spoke to (for the first time), discouraged the two egg transfer, I was young, healthy, tall, and my husband had already raised twins, so what was one more set? We put in two eggs, they both grew, and it was a great experience.

The dosage stayed relatively low and there was still very high growth. A cyst on one side of my ovaries actually came in handy because it reduced the overall number of eggs growing. The amount of drugs I was prescribed matched very well with what I ordered in advance so there was little to no wasted drugs.

We put in two eggs, they both grew, and it was a great experience.
Dr. Crawford makes sure you understand what is going on at all times and why your treatment plan/recommendations make sense for you as an individual. She never makes you feel rushed or like you can't ask more questions...She also does her own monitoring appointments and makes sure you are progressing as expected and is quick to course correct.
Everyone at Fora Fertility is amazing. I cannot speak highly enough of them. I am a very anxious human and they have always treated me with patience, compassion, and respect...The biggest strengths are that is a boutique clinic so you really only have a small handful of people involved in your care. You are not just a number. They have also made sure to stay open through bad weather and have done a great job with the COVID protocols to ensure the safety of everyone and that cycles do not get cancelled.

Describe the protocols Natalie Crawford used in your cycles at Fora Fertility and their degree of success.
I am currently just starting my first IVF round with her so while I do have a tentative plan in front of me, I know that can change. With IUI we had one cycle where I wasn't producing follicles and she changed medication doses mid cycle to help me produce those follicles. She also does her own monitoring appointments and makes sure you are progressing as expected and is quick to course correct.

Dr Crawford is warm and caring. Me being a healthcare professional, she still explained every part of the procedure and answers all questions. She’s always positive and aggressive with treatment. She willing to work around schedules and offers great advice for timing issues...We had to freeze a sperm sample due to partner being out of the state during the IUI time. Blood work 2 weeks after the IUI for confirmation of the pregnancy. I had attempted clomid with my ob/gyn without succes so we bypassed that. We are on the second cycle and attempting same course of action.
Nurse [at Austin Fertility Institute] was compassionate and informative...$1250 for one IUI cycle. $500 for femara, follistim and ovidrel medications. $200 for consultation...Strengths: knowledgeable, informative-all the staff and both doctors are great. Weakness: waiting time up to 2 hours. Waiting times can be long due to the number of appts scheduled. Weekend wait time is on the longer end...We had to freeze a sperm sample due to partner being out of the state during the IUI time. Blood work 2 weeks after the IUI for confirmation of the pregnancy. Do some research into the actual procedures. You won’t know what questions to ask unless you know a little bit about infertility.

Ultrasound on cycle day 3. Femara oral on day 3-5. Follistim injections on day 4 and 5 then another ultrasound. Continued follistim day 6 & 7. Repeat ultrasound and IUI on day 14 of cycle. [ Dr. Crawford is] Very willing to work, trying to do the best outcomes. Sometimes had conflict about how far to push treatment and how quickly to scale up. I always felt like she was trying to do the very best. She tried to work around my schedule...Very willing to talk and explain things and answer questions...I used femara so far, to stimulate ovulation on the side that still had a fallopian tube, followed by intercourse. Have discussed other protocols but so far haven't tried that yet.
staff [at Austin Fertility] is kind of hard to get a hold of. Appointments are scheduled optimistically and frequently run late. Nursing line always goes to voicemail. They do call back and answer questions, but can never get a hold of them...cycles $500 per femara/intercourse. IUI $1500, IVF 10,000..Clinic is very helpful. It's kind of hard to trust the scheduling. Frequently runs late, but I think that's at least partially because they try to educate and fully answer questions. Care is always done well.

had trouble getting ovudril prescription to the correct pharmacy, it took several phone calls. Eventually got it sorted out.
I would listen to her [Dr. Natalie Crawford's] podcast As A Woman she discusses great topics and when you go in you know some of the lingo and what to expect...She went over every detail with me and made me feel more like a cousin than a patients. She asked me if I had any questions or concerns after every statement she would make...She has excellent bedside manner, for instance I had my hsg done and found out my left tube had hydrosalpinx. Dr. Crawford explained what that meant and gave me percentages on me getting pregnant naturally, went over the risk of not removing that tube and gave excellent analogies to help my husband and I understand. She is just amazing all around
I had to do genetic carrier screening [at Aspire Fertility] which was 8 tubes of blood, I waited for my results then I asked about them at my next follow up 2 weeks later and they couldn’t find them so i will have to redo the screening...Strengths would be it’s very open and huge, they have an acupuncture room and several consult, and sonogram rooms. Everyone makes you feel comfortable and you are checked in immediately and can have coffee while waiting

Dr. Crawford’s bedside manner is great and she’s an upbeat person but we were not given extensive details or followed up with after failed iui’s.... She is a warm and inviting person. She gives the impression that she’s explaining everything but then you leave with a lot of questions. I do not like that there was no follow up after failed iui’s. She also always seemed to be in a hurry and appointments felt rushed.... Expect a long wait before appointment
You check in at a closed sliding window. It’s strange because you sign in on a pad but it takes them [Austin Fertility Center] a long time to look at it. The wait in the waiting room can be very long and the room is very small and cramped. Once you get called back, the nurses are nice and you are seen fairly promptly. Once seen, it feels rushed. Doctors are friendly but not a lot of attention to detail.... Nursing staff seemed very disorganized and routinely forgot to send me home with things. They also charged us incorrectly once.

My treatments (excluding labs) were out of pocket for three of my four cycles. For my fourth, I'd changed insurance and the IUI was covered at 75%.
Dr. Crawford is the exact right combination of sweet and compassionate and direct and knowledgeable. We have been with her for a long time after a bad first experience with another doctor. She is very accepting of us as a same Sex couple and me as a person. She advocates for her patients and I trust her...We did both clomid pills and injectable and femara. It takes a lot of medicine to make my body ovulate so tried both pills and injectables.
The clinic [Aspire Fertility/RMA of Texas] is really well run, I genuinely have no complaints. Everyone is so nice and efficient. Make sure you speak up if you have concerns so the staff can make you feel better. And if it’s getting late in the day and you are waiting for a phone call about a pregnancy test just call them. Dr. Crawford is knowledgeable, data-driven, and had decent success rates for people in our age group/situation. She made an impression of the person who would get the job done, and she did!...We were advised to do the single transfer...The journey was not smooth sailing. First, we had to cancel one cycle because we didn't get enough eggs to mature and had to double down on meds (Gonal and Menopur). The second medication cycle got us to retrieval, but way fewer blasts than we were hoping for. However, finally, we got the embryo we needed...
If you are looking for extra compassion and a therapist in your fertility doctor, Fora is probably not for you. Personally, I was not looking for these things here. I just needed a positive pregnancy test. So if you are like me, data-driven, result-oriented, and committed to getting pregnant, this is the best team in town...the Fora team for - Being highly organized. This includes appointments, patients portal, communication, and clarity on pricing. - Focusing on getting the job done. Each bump on the road was tackled as best as possible...

Thanks to her great work I am now a mom of a beautiful and healthy little boy!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility?
IVF is a challenging and emotionally draining experience. If you are looking for extra compassion and a therapist in your fertility doctor, Fora is probably not for you. Personally, I was not looking for these things here. I just needed a positive pregnancy test.
So if you are like me, data-driven, result-oriented, and committed to getting pregnant, this is the best team in town. I hope you look no further, and good luck on your journey. Speaking from the other side, it was all worth it!
Describe the protocols Natalie Crawford used in your cycles at Fora Fertility and their degree of success.
My fertility journey started in 2020, unexplained with a minor male factor. I went through 3 rounds of IUIs at Aspire with no success.
Shortly we learned IVF is our next step. We had no insurance coverage for fertility and were fully self-paid.
I interviewed every single clinic in town to pick my provider.
My top priority was getting the result (pregnancy and healthy baby).
The price mattered but was not our number one factor in this decision.
We picked Fora, and it was the best decision ever made.
The journey was not smooth sailing. First, we had to cancel one cycle because we didn't get enough eggs to mature and had to double down on meds (Gonal and Menopur).
The second medication cycle got us to retrieval, but way fewer blasts than we were hoping for. However, finally, we got the embryo we needed.
The very first transfer was successful, and nine months later, I had my baby boy, cute, happy and healthy.
Describe your experience with Fora Fertility.
I am eternally grateful to the Fora team for
- Being highly organized.
This includes appointments, patients portal, communication, and clarity on pricing.
- Focusing on getting the job done.
Each bump on the road was tackled as best as possible. And there will be bumps on this road.
- Providing context and options for each decision we were making.
I felt informed and in the loop at all times.
The somewhat weakness is this team will not play the role of your therapist. If you are looking for a lot of compassion and emotional support, Fora might not be for you.
They also won't let you buy outrageously expensive IVF medications abroad (think Canada or UK) where they cost a fraction of the US price, which was disappointing. But overall, I understand why they have this policy.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Natalie Crawford at Fora Fertility.
$15000 for retrieval
$5000 (+-) for meds per cycle (in my case I spent $9000 due to one canceled cycle.
$3500 for FET
$800 FET meds
Around $100 on co-pays for ultrasounds.
