Dr. Pereira, is a clear communicator and I feel does not try to push you toward a specific treatment but will honestly give you his advice if you ask for it, and share his thoughts about the pro's and cons of each treatment direction. Dr. Periera is very confident in what he does, however, for me, it was not clear if he was taking the time to look into any alternatives in my treatment, that could possibly improve my results.
Weill Cornell is a large-scale clinic. There were both pros and cons to this. The facilities were great, and I had a lot of trust in their lab. Sometimes it was difficult to feel like you were getting individual treatment or attention, but overall the clinic is very well run, and the wait times are reasonable. I felt like communication overall was clear in terms of what I needed to do. And it seems the systems that have been established help ti run like a well-oiled machine.

Dr. Periera is very confident in what he does, however, for me, it was not clear if he was taking the time to look into any alternatives in my treatment, that could possibly improve my results. In this sense, my IVF cycles felt very normal and straightforward, but as an older patient, I'm looking for some more attention towards my treatment simply because time is of the essence.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
I think you need to be clear about what you want, Dr. Pereira will work with you to make that happen, but at most all fertility clinics I think you need to advocate for what you think you need, while at the same time begin able to balance your Dr.'s input and follow their advice.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Pereira, was very attentive and I think did his best to be as give individualized attention, but the large clinic nature of Weill Cornell sometimes conflicted with this. He did most ultrasounds himself, rather than tech, and often called you with results or to answer any equations. However, it is clear he has many patients and balances his schedule and how much time he can give you accordingly. He responds quickly to email correspondence, often with short and direct info.
Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
After 2 failed IUI's we did an IVF cycle. This was an antagonist cycle (150 Gonal, 150 Menepure). 11 eggs were retrieved, 5 fertilized, and we got 1 euploid embryo. Due to my age at the time (40) Dr. Pereira indicated this was a good result. and indicated he'd do this protocol again if we were to do another round. However, after our follow-up and talking about my concerns with the fertility rate. Dr. Pereria decided to change my protocol to (300 Gonal / 150 menepure) and trigger sooner. He said the embryologist report noted the embryos looked dark and this could mean they were " overcooked" In The second cycle 9 eggs were retrieved, 7 were fertilized, and 7 blasts, but only one was normal, and was a poor grade. However, given the blast formation rate, Dr. Periera said that was a better cycle. We transferred the one Eupoild embryo from teh second cycle and it ended in a chemical pregnancy. Thankfully we still have another Eupoil embryo, which we have not yet transferred. We are thinking of doing another cycle just to increase our odds.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Weill Cornell Medical College.
The nurses always called with any information they need to relay, most times leaving a message. When calling them back you'd generally leave a message on the nursing line. So you needed to listen for the phone if you wanted to speak with someone. This took a bit of getting used to for me. I think all the nurses at Weill Cornell were great and very professional. However, there was one of Dr. Pereira's nurses who I always felt gave me attitude when I asked her questions. I generally tried to avoid her.IVF is stressful and I didn't need making it any harder.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College.
We spent about $15K per cycle. This included med and PGTA testing.
Describe Nigel Pereira's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Pereira, initially wanted to do an open cycle in case my embryos did not look great. He indicated that sometimes the embryos have more success in the body than in the lab. However, we ended up doing a freeze all due to a spike in my TSH levels at the time of the retrieval
Dr. Pereira is extremely warm and empathetic. He speaks to you like a human being, not just a patient...[he] changed the protocol and strategy as our treatments progressed. We started with 2 rounds of IUI with different medications - both resulted in negative pregnancies. From there, we decided to move on directly to IVF treatments...
The nurses at WCM are great - very friendly, warm, and efficient. They called me daily to communicate the evening's protocol and were able to knowledgeably explain if I had any questions...All of the offices are extremely clean and well kept. All of the people that work in this clinic are amazing - so nice, friendly and efficient. The York Avenue office can be quite overwhelming at first, however I found the Tribeca and downtown Brooklyn offices to be wonderful and easy to deal with.
How was your experience with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
I highly recommend Dr. Pereira for any patients seeking fertility treatments. He is extremely empathetic, knowledgeable, responsive, communicative. He speaks to you as a human being with amazing bedside manner. He was very knowledgeable, but made sure we understood everything that was happening in terms of medication protocol changing, procedures, etc. His responsiveness is incredible considering how busy he is - every e-mail sent, he responded within minutes. Lastly, he made sure to call before/after all important procedures, whether it was bad or good news. He was very realistic and honest throughout the entire process which was appreciated. We really enjoyed being patients of Dr. Pereira.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Ask as many questions as you want because he will answer!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Pereira is extremely warm and empathetic. He speaks to you like a human being, not just a patient. I found his bedside incomparable, especially since you may have to see other doctors within the group or at another office for monitoring or procedures on days he is not there.
Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
Dr. Pereira changed the protocol and strategy as our treatments progressed. We started with 2 rounds of IUI with different medications - both resulted in negative pregnancies. From there, we decided to move on directly to IVF treatments. The medication protocol was changed based on the monitoring prior to the egg retrieval which was very successful (we were able to have 17 eggs retrieved); he suggested ICSI for fertilization and this resulted in 13 day 5 embryos. We were not able to do a fresh transfer due to high hormone levels, so he suggested waiting to do a FET with a more "natural" cycle. Unfortunately he was not able to do the transfer, and it resulted in a negative pregnancy. From there, he decided to do a timed/medicated FET so that he could do the transfer himself -- this was the cycle that worked. I really believe with the knowledge that he had, he was able to execute a successful transfer.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Almost everything was covered with our insurance (United), however we had to pay minimal amounts for medication and about $3500 out of pocket.
Describe Nigel Pereira's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
We did not do multiple embryo transfer since we had really healthy day 5 embryos.
Dr. Pereira does an excellent job at being matter-of-fact and clinically minded, while also having great bedside manner. More importantly I completely trusted his judgement and advice. He took all the time needed to thoroughly explain every aspect of our fertility journey, answered all of our questions - big or small - with patience and kindness, and ensured that we had all of the information we needed throughout our process. I'm thankful I found Dr. Pereira and looking forward to working with him for baby #2.
Weill Cornell has very clear procedures in place for fertility treatment and that made me feel confident that they knew what they were doing. All of the doctors I saw were excellent. Again, there are a lot of patients that use WC, and it's easy to feel like a "number" in the waiting room, but on the other hand, I took it as a good thing that so many people go to WC and clearly see success. I felt like I was in the right place the whole time.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
While there are tons of patients at Weill Cornell, I thought Dr. Pereira and the staff did a great job at making me feel like a human, with my own wants and needs.
Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
My husband and I couldn't conceive naturally, and we always knew we'd have to do IVF from the start. We sat with Dr. Pereira and outlined a plan, and what to expect early on. That included an egg retrieval process and IVF (we skipped IUI due to our medical situation). The expectations Dr. Pereira set for me were accurate so I never felt blindsided by results. We did 1 egg retrieval, got 4 viable embryos which were all PGT tested. We advocated for PGT even though Dr. Pereira didn't think we needed to, but we're glad we did. Luckily, IVF took on the first try.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Weill Cornell Medical College.
There are so many nurses and given the volume of patients they tend to get you in and out for each visit, but any time I wanted to discuss treatment or had questions they all took the extra time to make sure they covered off on everything with me. I really enjoyed all interactions I had with the nursing staff.

Dr.Pereira is the best doctor I have ever encountered. He shows compassion, patience and understanding at every visit. He is able to tweak or change plans according to your needs. I love that he is conservative with his treatment recommendations and always wanted me to start with the easiest and most manageable solution. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
To trust the process and be patient. Dr.Pereira will find a solution that works for you, it might just take some time. For my first pregnancy, I got pregnant on my first Letrozole cycle. With this second pregnancy, I had a chemical on my first cycle and finally has a successful pregnancy on cycle 5. It can sometimes take time but mindset is everything. Trust the process and trust your doctor.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
This was my second time seeing Dr.Pereira to get pregnant after a successful pregnancy in 2020. Both times I never felt stressed because I had full trust that he wanted the best for me. He gave me his email address and any time I had a question or worry he replied immediately. He always made me feel at ease and reassured me that we were going to get through the process together.
Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
After a successful pregnancy in 2020 with Letrozole and timed intercourse, I knew i had to do the same for my second pregnancy. And we did. First cycle I got pregnant but it turned to be a chemical pregnancy. The next few cycles we tried the same thing but kept getting negative results. Until cycle 5, Dr.Pereira suggested that be the last cycle with timed intercourse before trying IUI, to which I agreed, and I ended up getting pregnant then. We could have tried IUI earlier but we didn’t see the need to. Even with 3 consecutive negative cycles, we knew what worked for me. Like Dr.Pereira said,
it wasn’t a matter of “will I get pregnant” it was a matter of “when.” I just had to be patient, have a clear mindset, and trust the process.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr. Pereira is extremely knowledgeable and responsive...I would ask questions and he would say he didn’t understand what I was saying, making me feel stupid even though I am not a medical professional...he seemed like he wanted to be somewhere else and was looking at his watch a lot. He didn’t fully go into the IVF process, and made us take a class instead of giving us a very easy outline
[Weill Cornell Medical College] is extremely clean and responsive. Their gynecology department is amazing. If you are looking for a team that makes you feel that they will do anything in their power to help you, this might not be it. The nurses especially the ones who draw your blood are empathetic and that really helps!
How was your experience with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Pereira is extremely knowledgeable and responsive. I am an extremely anxious person and when I was looking for an REI I looked through all of the Fertility IQ notes and ratings. He had a fantastic rating and great reviews about how he treats you like one of his family members. However, I would ask questions and he would say he didn’t understand what I was saying, making me feel stupid even though I am not a medical professional. The fertility process is overwhelming and scary and every time we spoke with him he seemed like he wanted to be somewhere else and was looking at his watch a lot. He didn’t fully go into the IVF process, and made us take a class instead of giving us a very easy outline. If you’re someone who wants answers and asks a lot of questions he is not the doctor for you. If you are someone who wants someone to tell you what to do and not be as 1:1 then he’s a great fit. I’m sure he’s a fantastic doctor but if you are extremely anxiety prone, and need hand holding ( I mean who doesn’t this whole process is scary) then I advise a different doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
If you’re an anxious person- he is not the guy for you.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Pereira is great at responding. He is quick to email you back, but he kept looking at his watch during our in person meetings and zoom meetings.

Dr. P is extremely compassionate, he always gives you all the important information and ensures that you understand what's coming. He explained everything in detail...he always set realistic expectations for each cycle rather than getting our hopes up each time...was extremely compassionate even when we were impatient/frustrated. I always felt like I could ask him anything and everything, if ever there was a doubt in my mind I would just shoot him a quick email and he always responds within a couple of hours or sometimes even calls to explain if required.
The clinic is extremely well run...Early morning monitoring is a huge advantage for working moms...The billing department is a bit of a nightmare if they get a claim wrong but the clinic helps you navigate through that if required...The nursing staff was extremely compassionate, they create a warm environment in the clinic. They called me only a few times with test results or instructions and did a good job at communicating all the important information as well as answering questions.
How was your experience with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. P is extremely compassionate, he always gives you all the important information and ensures that you understand what's coming. He explained everything in detail during our first appointment and took about a month to perform all preliminary tests. He did everything himself and explained what we were hoping to find in each test. I had unexplained infertility as all our tests came back fine. Moving to trying to conceive - he always set realistic expectations for each cycle rather than getting our hopes up each time. I went through a total of 4 cycles with him - the first two were just natural cycle monitoring without any medications (we wanted to try this and he was fully supportive), the third cycle we tried only with Clomid and finally the fourth one was IUI which was successful. My IUI was scheduled for a day when he was at another clinic so it was performed by a NP. I could still communicate with him via email for any questions or concerns.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Talk to him about your doubts & concerns, more often than not he will put your mind at ease. Tell him about your history and treatments in detail so he can plan for you accordingly.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Pereira treats you like family from day one. Its amazing how much he remembers about you each time you visit, almost made me feel like his favorite patient. I am sure all his patients feel that way. He always strikes a conversation about topics relevant to you even during quick monitoring sessions which makes it feel like you're seeing a friend. He understands that this is a tough journey and was extremely compassionate even when we were impatient/frustrated. I always felt like I could ask him anything and everything, if ever there was a doubt in my mind I would just shoot him a quick email and he always responds within a couple of hours or sometimes even calls to explain if required.
Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
We started with 2 cycles of natural cycle monitoring as we had no trouble getting pregnant the first two times that resulted in miscarriage. When that didn't work and we were getting impatient, he put me on Clomid (5 days) to increase the number of follicles. This didn't either. Finally we moved to IUI with Clomid for 6 days and one Ovidrel injection.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Weill Cornell Medical College.
The nursing staff was extremely compassionate, they create a warm environment in the clinic. They called me only a few times with test results or instructions and did a good job at communicating all the important information as well as answering questions. One time they gave me slightly incorrect instructions on medication - I felt something was off and was able to quickly cross check with my doctor. It was a little bit hard to contact the nurses if I missed their call, they would leave a voicemail with instructions but I had to reach out to the doctor for any questions as the nurses line was not very responsive.
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
The clinic is extremely well run, I never had to wait more than 5 minutes. The clinic on the upper west side is less intimate and can make you feel like its a factory but that's absolutely not the case in the Tribeca location. Early morning monitoring is a huge advantage for working moms. I usually coordinated my appointments with Dr. Pereira's assistant Yazmin, she is very responsive and helpful even with matters related to billing . The billing department is a bit of a nightmare if they get a claim wrong but the clinic helps you navigate through that if required.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Everything was covered through insurance for me. I only had to pay $20 co-pays for certain types of visits, not all.
Describe Nigel Pereira's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
From the first consultation, I could tell that Dr. Pereira's bedside manner would be unmatched. He told me that he would treat me like family, and that has remained true throughout my entire treatment. Even when delivering hard news, he spoke with empathy and also managed to give me hope and reassurance. Dr. Pereira always answers emails promptly and calls when an email won't suffice
The [Weill Cornell Medical College] Tribeca office was definitely my preference since it was less crowded and things moved quickly. I never waited more than 5 minutes in the waiting room. Sometimes I had to go to the Upper East Side office on the weekends and the waiting time was longer, but all of the nurses were friendly there as well. The clinic has a lot of patients, but it is so organized and the staff is on top of everything, I never feel like I am missing something.
How was your experience with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
I never felt rushed into any treatment with Dr. Pereira. I was concerned that he would want me to do IVF right away after failed timed intercourse treatments, and he did not. He fully explained all of the potential benefits and risks with each option and took my lead. I appreciated that after each failed cycle, he would make time to call or meet with me over Zoom to discuss next steps. Additionally, I saw Dr. Pereira for almost every visit which was reassuring. He spoke to me throughout the appointment and clearly explained everything he saw.
Dr. Pereira did not do my egg retrieval as Cornell has the doctors scheduled for different days. The Nurse Practitioners do the IUI's as well, and I felt fully confident in them.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Ask ANY question you have. He will always answer clearly and make extra time for you if you do not understand something. Make an appointment with him, you will not regret it. I truly believe that Dr. Pereira's bedside manner will always be unmatched. Trust him, he knows what he is doing. Even with failed cycles, I never lost my faith in him.

He remembers little details and clearly listens to your concerns. He also answers any question you have with clarity.
Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
For my timed intercourse, I used Letrozole and one cycle with Clomid. I had great results with Letrozole but after my chemical pregnancy I wanted to try something different and switched to Clomid. Dr. Pereira was on board with the change. For my IVF cycle, I did an FSH + Antagonist protocol. We used Gonal F, Menopur and Cetrotide. We were going to do a natural transfer on an untested embryo after my egg retrieval, but I was overstimulated so we planned on a natural transfer cycle. That one was also cancelled due to my lining not getting thick enough. We moved onto a medicated transfer cycle with a PGT tested embryo using Estrogen patches and that transfer was ultimately successful. I am currently 4.5 weeks pregnant.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Weill Cornell Medical College. (Assigned nurse: Crystal and Sonia)
All of the nurses on Dr. Pereira's team were great. They always called in my medications right away and returned phone calls within the hour. When they gave instructions on medications, they were very clear and patient. The nurses doing the blood work at the Tribeca office were always friendly.

My IVF cycle was 90% covered by my insurance. I had to pay for PGT testing which was about $4,000 and some medications, around $2,000.
Describe Nigel Pereira's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
[Dr. Pereira's] Strengths: He responds to emails very quickly. I would say that’s his best way of communication. He has great bed side manners. Weaknesses: He treated me like a number...He never explained us what would be our treatment plan/protocol...after another failed IVF cycle with him we realized he just repeated the same treatment plan that we did at the other clinic...After our failed cycle, we had the consultation with him, he suggested sone tests randomly. He said I should do tests for carrier testing, because he forgot that we had already done before starting the treatment with him
The processes are old school...During monitoring visits [at Weill Cornell] they will keep reminding you to make the prepayment, and not in a polite tone. Some of the nurses were also rude at the upper east side clinic. Staff at Tribeca office was very nice though...We paid $16,000 for IVF one cycle, plus $3,500 for medicines...I used to go to Tribeca, and it was super convenient. There used to be less people as compared to upper east side office. I used to be done mostly in 30 mins
How was your experience with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
I had very high hopes from him after reading so many good reviews on fertilityiq,( which I am really not sure how it’s possible) but I am disappointed in myself that I would have done more research and should have gone elsewhere.
Strengths: He responds to emails very quickly. I would say that’s his best way of communication. He has great bed side manners.
Weaknesses: He treated me like a number. He said during our first consultation that he treats his patients like family members but that’s definitely not true. I say, please don’t say such things if you don’t do it. He tried to cover up the mistakes nursing team did a couple of times. He was rude in his responses on several occasions. He never explained us what would be our treatment plan/protocol that we expected after 2 failed ivfs at other clinic. And after another failed IVF cycle with him we realized he just repeated the same treatment plan that we did at the other clinic. How we could have expected a different result when did not change anything, and that’s why we wanted to understand what different he was going to do but we did not get an answer. After our failed cycle, we had the consultation with him, he suggested sone tests randomly. He said I should do tests for carrier testing, because he forgot that we had already done before starting the treatment with him. That was pure ignorance, and carelessness.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Please go somewhere else. He is not worth your time and money.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
When I came to him, I already had 2 failed ivf. Cycles at other clinic, so I wanted him to use my medical history from the other clinic, and accordingly plan my treatment, however he never discussed my treatment plan, and he even snapped when I requested for it a couple of times. During one of the monitoring visits, I asked him that I have a question, then he got upset that he can’t answer questions during monitoring. It was obvious from that response that he just wanted to be done with my monitoring as there were 100 other numbers( patients) waiting for him.
Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
There were no strategies. He just repeated the same treatment plan we did at another clinic, and hoped that it would work. Obviously it did not.
I did estrogen priming right after my ovulation. 150 ml menopur and 300 Iui gonal f for 14 days, triggered with hcg and lupron. Did fresh day 5 transfer of 2 embryos. It failed.
We also did 4 IUIs with him. 2 with clomid and 2 with Letrozole. None worked.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Weill Cornell Medical College.
They are usually polite. They miss communicated a couple of times. Missed important information about medications. But overall they were ok.
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
It does not feel like an Ivy League sort of an experience. I had high hopes form Cornell but they disappointed me. The processes are old school.
Most of the staff at upper east side office was rude. During monitoring visits they will keep reminding you to make the prepayment, and not in a polite tone. Some of the nurses were also rude at the upper east side clinic. Staff at Tribeca office was very nice though.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Weill Cornell Medical College.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College.
IUI was covered by our insurance but IVF was self paid. We paid $16,000 for IVF one cycle, plus $3,500 for medicines
Describe Nigel Pereira's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
If the entire treatment itself is faulty then approach on single or double embryo transfer doesn’t matter. He suggested we transfer one but we still transferred two and none implanted.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Weill Cornell Medical College.
During one of the Iui cycles, the nurse forgot to let me know that I needed to start taking estrogen.
During my IVF treatment scheduling, even after discussing with the Dr. About the planned schedule, the nurses pushed my cycle by a month because they said they were already booked.
Dr.Pereira said with my age and being I'm not doing PGT we would be doing a day 3 fresh transfer of up to 6 eggs...I never felt rushed or just another number. He always responds to emails, even on the weekend. He listens and shows he cares about your concerns. I am paying out of pocket and money adds up fast. Dr.Pereira worked with me. He also gave me discounts which helped a lot

Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
I am 44yrs old and this is my first cycle trying IVF. Dr.Pereira explained my options. I told him I wanted to used my own eggs. He didn't try to talk me out of it or turn me away. He told me we had to start with bloodwork and an ultra sound to check my follicles and any abnormalities. I also had an SIS and sounding test which helps with placement of the embryo. I am currently on birth control for 10 days. If everything checks out I will be starting injections.

Dr.Pereira said with my age and being I'm not doing PGT we would be doing a day 3 fresh transfer of up to 6 eggs. I am comfortable with this.
Dr. Pereira excels as a communicator...promptly responded to all my emails...dedicated time to grasp our needs, elucidated the available options, and crafted a plan accordingly...adjusted the plan accordingly...was always there to answer my questions, no matter how basic they were.
[Weill Cornell Medical College] is very clean, spacious...everyone on the team is very prompt. UES location is busy and there you will feel like a number...at Tribeca you will see a very friendly environment. Sometimes the nurses forgot to tell me about some important instructions that required an extra trip to the UES location

Dr. Pereira excels as a communicator. He promptly responded to all my emails, and when phone discussions were necessary, he made the effort to call us. He dedicated time to grasp our needs, elucidated the available options, and crafted a plan accordingly. When modifications were contemplated, he willingly provided recommendations and adjusted the plan accordingly. It seemed as if he was a blessing in guiding us through the process
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Don't be shy from asking your questions. I am an introvert and for me it was extremely hard to open up about my concerns. The doctor shared the information with me and I tried my best to understand and process them. If there were doubts, I would email him.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Pereira accommodated us from day 1. I still remember that we were unable to reach on time for our first appointment due to a family emergency. Dr. Pereira had a hard stop but he still made time for us.
He was always there to answer my questions, no matter how basic they were.
Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
After my first appointment, the doctor asked us to get all the initial tests done which included blood work, urine test, genetic testing etc. for both me and my partner. I was also asked to start a pre-natal vitamin.
In order to get ready for the IVF cycle we were asked to do the following:
1. Genetic Testing
2. IVF Class (Online)
3. Monitor my levels for one ovulation cycle.
IVF cycle : I was given the following medications during my IVF cycle
Gonal-F, Menopaur, Cetrotide, Leuprolide and Pregnyl).
The day 1 always starts at the UES location. Most of my monitoring was done at the Tribeca location except for weekends when I had to go to UES location. The Tribeca location staff is very nice and they never make you feel like a number.
The retrievals happened at the UES location and was done by different doctors.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Overall, the nurse team was very good except for a couple of them who were not very willing to help.
The Tribeca staff was very good and they knew me by my name.
During my first IVF cycle, there was a lot of anxiety because of the unknown. Every evening the head nurse would call with the instructions for the evening shots. I really don't understand why those instructions cannot be entered in the system and have to be communicated over the phone. I had to make sure that I took notes from that call and didn't miss anything. This process should be changed to make it easier on the patient.
During my 2nd IVF cycle, I let the phone call go to voicemail so that the nurse would leave the instructions over the voicemail. If I had any questions, I would either call back or just email the nurse line.
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
The clinic is very clean, spacious and everyone on the team is very prompt.
UES location is busy and there you will feel like a number but as soon as you are at Tribeca you will see a very friendly environment.
Sometimes the nurses forgot to tell me about some important instructions that required an extra trip to the UES location for the covid test or filling and sending them signed forms. I hope they can provide this facility at the Tribeca location too.

I don't remember the exact cost but it was somewhere around 40,000 for the 2 IVF Cycles.
Describe Nigel Pereira's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
The doctor was very clear about doing a single embryo transfer and the risks involved with transferring multiple embryos and I am very thankful to him for his guidance.
Dr Pereira was kind, clear, respectful, and warm. He took the time to explain the science even though we are laypeople. He answered any questions we had in person, over email, and on the phone. He was genuinely excited at good results, and empathetic and action-oriented in the face of any less-than-thrilling news, always explaining what we could adjust to improve... I felt heard and cared for, and like we were on a team focused on the same goal. His competence, confidence, and compassion always came through...

Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
We started out with lower doses and occasionally increased doses and adjusted medications, always discussing the pros and cons. One time we arguably triggered a day too late even though we got lots of eggs and embryos (but all aneuploid), so the following cycle we triggered a day earlier with great success.

You can tell that everyone puts the patients first and makes you feel very supported. The nurses were very organized, and always followed up anytime I had questions or was waiting for instructions. They were very patient as well, with the many questions and anxieties I had.
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
The clinic is very well run considering what a large operation it is, and how many patients they see. I had the best experiences at Dr. Pereira’s main office in Tribeca, as the team is smaller and the space is very new and comfortable. I also never waited more than 5-10 min to be seen. The clinic’s main office on the UES also ran smoothly, but there are a lot more patients being seen there and it’s just a bit less intimate than Tribeca.
Dr. Pereira consistently took the time to explain the next treatment steps and his reasoning, based on my specific diagnosis and how my body responded to medications...His schedule was extremely flexible -whether it was for early morning office appointments, zoom meetings, or phone calls, he was always available...He is compassionate, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable
[the Weill Cornell MC nurse] called with my results, and next steps no matter what time of day it was - I always knew I could expect their phone call...I saw Dr. Pereira at his Tribeca office for majority of my appointments. I found this office to be more intimate and welcoming. The clinic is very professional and organized, while still being warm. My time at Cornell was during Covid, therefore not many patients were there at once. Because of this, and my frequent appointments, it felt as if I was always seeing familiar faces. This helped a lot during this time!

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
If you are considering seeing a fertility specialist, make your appointment with Dr. Pereira! The first step, and sometimes the hardest, is finally scheduling the appointment, but from the moment you walk into his office, you will know you are in the right place. Dr. Pereira's entire team is warm and welcoming, and it truly is an incredible office.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Pereira not only treated me like a human, but he treated me like family. From the moment I walked into his office for my first consultation, Dr. Pereira made me comfortable and confident that I was in the right place. The attentiveness and individualized care that he and his team provided was remarkable. Dr. Pereira diagnosed me with PCOS, and he always took the time to thoroughly explain the steps of, and reasoning for, his treatment plan. Regardless of the time of day, Dr. Pereira and his team always called with results and next steps for treatment.
Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
Dr. Pereira diagnosed me with PCOS and anovulation, which was causing absent menstrual cycles. Dr. Pereira initially prescribed Clomid for ovulation, however, I did not respond well to this medication. Consistent with my PCOS diagnosis, Dr. Pereira felt Letrozole would elicit a better response from my body. I took Letrozole to successfully induce follicle growth, the Ovidrel injection to induce ovulation, and then timed intercourse. When we did not have success with this protocol, Dr. Pereira prescribed a combination of Letrozole and Gonal-f injections. I started the cycles with a round of Letrozole, followed by a course of the injections. Dr. Pereira precisely monitored by body's response to the dosages of Gonal-f to make sure I was safe and not hyperstimulated. After two failed rounds, and discussions of potentially going through with IVF, Dr. Pereira suggested one more round of this combination of medications, a trigger shot, and timed intercourse. It was this last round that we successfully conceived!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Weill Cornell Medical College. (Assigned nurse: Crystal Wright)
Crystal Wright was my NP, and she was amazing. Crystal called with my results, and next steps no matter what time of day it was - I always knew I could expect their phone call. Crystal addressed all of my questions and concerns, and if she was unsure of something, she checked with Dr. Pereira and always called me back. The entire nursing staff at Dr. Pereira's was amazing, and everyone was warm and welcoming.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College.
My insurance covered my treatment with Dr. Pereira. I only had to pay co-pays.
Dr. Pereira assessed each of my visits and understood how to tailor his approach dependent on where I was in the process and how I was doing emotionally. The days I wanted more detail and explanation, he would dive in and give me all of the science behind the procedures...I also greatly appreciated that he was always present and available; he led all of the ultrasounds during visits and answered every email to all of my questions that couldn't wait until the next visit.
[Weill Cornell MC is] Incredibly efficient, with great hours. On bloodwork and monitoring days it felt like I could be in and out in 10 minutes and on with my day. As a working mom-to-be, knowing that I could go in before the day got crazy and I wouldn't miss any of my early am meetings was a lifesaver! On weekends and holidays I had to go to the UES WC location, which was always a little more busy but the Tribeca office operated like clockwork!

Some days I just needed a champion to tell me it would be alright, and he was that too. I also greatly appreciated that he was always present and available; he led all of the ultrasounds during visits and answered every email to all of my questions that couldn't wait until the next visit.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Don't wait to see him, listen to his advice and have patience. My OB warned me that reproductive endocrinologists would push me to get pregnant as fast as possible, even if that meant jumping straight into more invasive procedures. I spent too many fruitless Clomid medicated cycles with my OB because I was afraid a doctor would push me straight to IVF. After talking to Dr Pereira, he assessed my medical history and we came up with a plan to start with trigger shots and IUI cycles. I was fortunate enough to get pregnant with my first IUI cycle, and wished I had seen him sooner in my pregnancy journey.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr Pereira was the most detailed and attentive doctor throughout this process! He took the time to make sure I understood the science and the why behind certain treatment plans, and was incredibly communicative throughout the process, whether in office or outside of visit hours.
Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
I started seeing Dr. Pereira virtually, as I was out of state at the time. He switched my medication from Clomid (OB prescribed) to Letrozole, LH monitoring and timed intercourse. Upon my arrival back to NYC we began a full treatment plan including Letrozole, a trigger shot and IUI procedure, which was ultimately successful.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Weill Cornell Medical College.
The nursing staff at WC Tribeca were a dream! The entire monitoring process (bloodwork + ultrasound) was incredibly quick and efficient - perfect for a working mom-to-be! The team was incredible comforting and supportive, remembering personal details from one visit to the next. At my final 12-week appointment where I was transferring care back to my OB the team lined up to wish me luck as I left the offices. For such an emotional process, you could not ask for better nurses.

I can’t recommend Dr. Pereira enough. After seeing other fertility doctors and doing consults with another in NYC he was the most knowledgeable, kind, compassionate doctor I saw. Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
Dr. Pereira managed my medications accordingly as I had a tendency to be overstimulated throughout the IVF process. He then also did a natural frozen embryo cycle given my cycle and knew that would lead to most success. Which in the end it did. One retrieval, one transfer of one embryo and one live baby born in under a year of being his patient.

I had health insurance coverage for everything but genetic testing which cost me $5500.
Dr. Perreira was kind, patient, attentive, and understanding. He listened to our fertility journey and explained his proposed plans. He himself was unbelievably accessible to us, as was his staff. It really felt like he understood where we had come from, where we wanted to go, and how we wanted to get there and that he was there to make it happen. He told us on the very first day that he was going to help us make a family and he certainly did...

How was your experience with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
My wife and I came to Dr. Pereira as a last resort after 8 failed attempts at IUI through one of the large for-profit clinics in NJ. At that original clinic, we had to wade through 4 different automatic messages before even being able to leave a message for our doctor, and although our doctor was friendly and willing to talk to us if we reached out, she did not seem to take an active interest in us or our fertility process. In fact, when we finally decided to leave the practice, neither she nor anyone from her staff called to see why we were no longer scheduling cycles. Our experience with Dr. Pereira and his staff were the complete opposite. Our first conversation with him lasted at least an hour, and he was deeply attuned the whole time to not only our medical history and past fertility treatments, but also where we were emotionally and what values were important to us as we went through the IVF process. By listening to us, Dr. Pereira made us feel comfortable in not only our medical care, but also our medical decisions, which is no small feat in a process that requires the patient to make so many.
We are very happy to report that after one IVF cycle (one retrieval and one transfer) we have a very happy, healthy baby boy!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Be honest with him and explain everything that you are thinking and/or feeling. If you have seen other doctors, explain what that process was like. He is an excellent listener and it will make you feel heard. Be open about what your preferences are. He is a phenomenal doctor and a wonderful human being.

They are phenomenal! They really work with you on your insurance to make sure that blood samples, etc. are getting processed by them or NYP based on your coverage. They are responsive and efficient. At our previous clinic we had CONSTANT billing issues and could never speak to a human being that could actually help. The whole clinic felt like an obstacle course designed to prevent you from getting care. Weill Cornell (CRM) was the polar opposite. It felt like they were always on our side.
Describe Nigel Pereira's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
We did a single embryo transfer and chose not to do genetic testing.
Dr Pereira was extremely forthcoming with information at every step of the egg freezing process...upfront that my choice to do this was not urgent based on my test results but that he was happy to move forward if that is what I chose...At one point I made a mistake with the meds and he was able to urgently course correct (at 2am) to ensure a successful retrieval.
The various locations makes this clinic [Weill Cornell Medical College] super convenient. The Tribeca and Brooklyn locations are usually quiet, very limited wait times and has super friendly staff. The UES location is the only one open on the weekends and is much busier. Staff at all locations are great, but the care at Tribeca and Brooklyn feels more personal.
How was your experience with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr Pereira was extremely forthcoming with information at every step of the egg freezing process. From the very beginning he was also upfront that my choice to do this was not urgent based on my test results but that he was happy to move forward if that is what I chose. Throughout the few weeks, our appointments were quick and to the point and he was happy to answer any questions I had. At one point I made a mistake with the meds and he was able to urgently course correct (at 2am) to ensure a successful retrieval.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Ask the questions you have while you are meeting with him, he will have the answers and is happy to share. Additionally, don't hesitate to ask about additional nursing support throughout the process.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
one on one care at the Tribeca location made me feel like a human and not just a number.
Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
My egg freezing cycle took a little longer than usual because I had a lot of follicles and he didn't want to overstimulate them. Ultimately this worked out as only one was not at the level needed to freeze once retrieved.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Weill Cornell Medical College. (Assigned nurse: Crystal Wright)
Nursing staff was always happy to answer any questions. They have a solid plan and always got me the information I needed when I needed it. At the beginning I reached out more often to ensure I got the information I needed but after a couple of days it was clear that they would also provide me what I needed.

How was your experience with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
I had undergone multiple egg retrievals at a different clinic, where I failed to produce PGT-Normal embryos. Nigel Pereira and Cornell were willing to try Day 3 transfers, as they felt the embryos of older women sometimes survived better in utero versus in the lab. This ultimately worked.

Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
1) Cycle 1 - Priming with estradiol patch. Followed by Clomid (oral), Follistim and Menopur. Then Ganirelix and Lupron + Pregnyl trigger.
2) Cycle 2 - As above, except higher doses.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Cornell is large and slightly bureaucratic, but organized. All the staff I interacted with were helpful and kind. One needs to allow for the fact that intensely personalized care is hard at such large institutions.
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
Cornell is large and bureaucratic, but organized and professional. The Tribeca office, where I saw Dr. Pereira, is more intimate than the large UES office. Their flexibility in being willing to try Day 3 transfers was particularly noteworthy; by contrast, the doctors I consulted at RMA, CCRM and NYU insisted on PGT for a woman of my age. Both approaches are understandable - however, it was at Cornell that I finally got pregnant.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College.
$19K out of pocket, including PGT. However, ~ $4K for PGT was refunded as I did not use this. Medication costs were additional.
Describe Nigel Pereira's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Cornell was willing to transfer up to four Day 3 embryos for patients my age, more than other clinics. On the potential transfer day, Dr. Pereira would call to provide details of the embryo status and then decide whether to do a Day 3 or Day 5 transfer. Also whether to perform PGT on any leftover embryos. This flexibility was extremely helpful.
Dr. Pereira has been a trusted partner in our journey to conceive a child (and I'm happy to share that my husband and I are currently expecting our first child)...very kind and empathetic doctor - he discusses your options with you as if you are part of his family and explains complex concepts in easy to understand bite size chunks. We could tell that he really wants the well-being of his patients, and works hard to find a tailored individualized fertility plan to fit your needs.
The [Weill Cornell Medical Colllege] Clinic was excellent - it is well-run, it has modern equipment and facilities and I would recommend it to anyone. The monitoring was excellent, including during the COVID protocols, and all appointments were timely and well-run. My experience with Dr. Pereira and the clinic was great, and I would recommend it to prospective patients.

Dr. Pereira has been a trusted partner in our journey to conceive a child (and I'm happy to share that my husband and I are currently expecting our first child). We had several challenges along the way, including an ectopic pregnancy and two unsuccessful embryo transfers, but Dr. Pereira was always empathetic, helped explain the probabilities and risks, and continued to adjust the program and timelines to make sure I would be healthy, safe, and have the best chance to conceive. He was always extremely patient, thorough, and very responsive to all my messages and questions (responded right away, which is incredible and above and beyond). He is a great communicator and I fully trust him with the management of my fertility. He is a very hard worker, who is working tirelessly for the well-being of his patients.

Dr Pereira really cared about our own personal situation. I felt that the treatment that was offered to us was tailored to our needs, wishes and possibilities...was very prepared and remembered absolutely everything that was done and discussed beforehand...He always asked what was important to us, before giving his own opinion. He is also extremely knowledgable and professional. Although he was very patient, he was also very efficient and fast, wasting neither his time nor ours. All of this made us trust in him throughout our treatment.
The first ICSI was not covered and costed 3000$...Monitoring appointements were always very quick. During the week in Tribeca it was done by Dr. Pereira...The [Weill Cornell] location was perfect for us. Because of the safety measures taken during Covid to limit the number of people in the office, I often felt like I was the only patiente of the day, which was nice. The office is very clean and modern.

Dr Pereira really cared about our own personal situation. I felt that the treatment that was offered to us was tailored to our needs, wishes and possibilities. At each appointment Dr. Pereira was very prepared and remembered absolutely everything that was done and discussed beforehand. Dr. Pereira's team in Tribeca was extremely kind. Also, in order to limit contact during Covid, appointments were made in such a way that the office looked empty and sometimes I felt like I was the only patient of the day.
Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
After a complete diagnostique workup, we found out that I had endometriosis (ovarian cyst) and that that was probably the cause for poor egg quality and low fertilization rate. This finally gave us an explanation for the repeated chemical pregnancies we had experienced in the past. After suggesting that we could either continue trying on our own after a laparoscopy, or proceed to IVF, we decided to follow Dr. Pereira's advice and went to do IVF. For our first cycle, we did ICSI and froze the embryos because I needed time to repeat some tests about a potential blood clotting issue. We transferred 1 embryo and ended up having another chemical pregnancy. For our second cycle, we did ICSI with fresh transfer on day 3. This resulted in our current pregnancy.

Dr. Pereira's staff in Tribeca is amazing. Everyone is very kind, professional and efficient.

Monitoring appointements were always very quick. During the week in Tribeca it was done by Dr. Pereira. During weekends and holidays I had to go to the upper east side location, were ultrasounds were performed by different doctors.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Costs were high, but luckily they were almost entirely covered by my insurance. Co-pays on medications and hospital admissions were reasonable. The first ICSI was not covered and costed 3000$, which was expensive for us. The second ICSI was covered because it became medically necessary given our low fertilisation rate during first cycle.
What specific things went wrong at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Failed to call with results
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Weill Cornell Medical College.
After our first egg retrieval, the clinic forgot to call us with the fertilisation results.
Dr. Pereira recommended that I do 3 rounds of timed intercourse with Letrozole before moving onto IVF again after 3 rounds of failed IVF at RMA. I asked him if IUI would increase my chance within those 3 rounds. He advised that since my husband has no issues that I do not need IUI. I took it with a grain of salt but he was right! Because I got pregnant in the second medicated cycle. He knows what he is talking about. His plan for me was in my best interest. Plus I saved money without having to do unnecessary procedures. The results said everything. As a side note, I did receive acupuncture and moxibustion therapy during the 2 cycles as well. I also ate healthy and exercised a lot.
The nurses were kind and professional at [Weill Cornell Medical College]. They were sincere...The clinic is big, bright and super clean. The patient bathrooms are big as well. The exam rooms hold 2 ultrasound monitors so that was nice. I could see my ovaries on one monitor clearly. The location is a bit far from where I live but it was worth the commute.
How was your experience with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
My experience with Dr. Pereira has been amazing. He is very responsive in emails. Sometimes he even called me after his work hours to update me on my test results and when to have timed intercourse. During my 2nd medicated cycle, I had emailed him to report that I had received a positive at home pregnancy test late. He called me back almost right away (prior to his surgery) advising my of next steps. I felt there was definitely ongoing communication during the whole process and it made me feel like I am in good hands. I felt like I was working with a doctor that really cared. Whereas, when I was working with RMA, I barely hear from the doctors until the last step (unsuccessful result).
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
I highly recommend Dr. Periera. If you are trying to get pregnant, or are considering changing clinics, you should go to Dr. Pereira (Weill Cornell).
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Periera took the time to explain to me PCOS and how it affects my chance in conceiving. My husband and I held several zoom video appointments with Dr. Pereira. Each time, he was very caring and thorough. He shared his knowledge with us like a professor. He even drew pictures to explain medical concepts. He also set realistic expectations based on our medical history and records. Every time I visit him during my appointment, he remembers my name and even my husband's name. I felt well cared for. Most importantly, he does not jump into IVF right away with me, knowing I had 3 failed IVF cycles previously with RMA. He actually recommended 3 rounds of timed intercourse with Letrozole, given that there are no other issues with my fertility health except for PCOS. My husband's sperm analysis is normal. He also responds to emails within 24 hours if not within an hour - great doctor!

Describe Nigel Pereira's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Ask all your questions! He [Dr. Nigel Pereira] will take the time to thoroughly answer...He warned that bc of my PCOS hyper-stimulation was likely (preventing live embryo transfer) and that did happen. I was disappointed but he explained the repercussions of proceeding while experiencing hyperstimulation and I felt assured he was giving good advice. Instead we did a day-5 frozen embryo transfer which resulted in a positive pregnancy test. I’m now 25 weeks and have felt totally fine throughout this pregnancy. I attribute it in part to Dr. P’s smooth launch!
They [staff at Weill Cornell Medical College] were clean, organized, fast, efficient, and kind! I *occasionally* had to play a little phone tag with the nurses when I had questions about meds. Otherwise, I only have positive things to say! The tribeca office is conveniently located next to a target and across from the Whole Foods... fertility and errands! Many of the “final” steps (retrieval, transfer, etc) happened at their UES location which was less convenient.
How was your experience with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
I would highly recommend Dr. Pereira! If I have to go through this process again, I will do all I can to work with him. I recommend him to all my friends experiencing infertility. He encouraged us to do one round of clomid (unsuccessful) and did not insist on my trying IUI, which I was not interested in, given research and my personal case. He talked us through all the information of all options and gave us time to think things through.

Dr. P spent time with me, answered all my emails and phone calls personally, spent time with me during appointments to chat and brainstorm my scenario (moving across the country days after embryo transfer), , and explained the snags along the way before, during, and after things came up. I did all of this during Covid and he took time to video chat with my husband as well.

We tried one round of clomid. It did not work. He suggested a round of IUI but because we were moving and I have heard so few success stories for women with PCOS conceiving via IUI we decided to skip it and he was okay with that. Throughout the IVF process he and his office were great communicators about what meds to take following blood labs. He warned that bc of my PCOS hyper-stimulation was likely (preventing live embryo transfer) and that did happen. Describe Nigel Pereira's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Weill Cornell Medical College.
Dr. P said he only transfers one at a time. He assured us it was the safest option.
Dr. Pereira educated me on all of the tradeoffs and risk, he recommended a single embryo transfer and I listened to his recommendation, no questions asked. He felt this is safer and a better option for my body...I saw him at just about every single one of my monitoring appointments, he made sure to ask me questions about my life remembering details we had talked about the time before. He treated me extra delicately knowing about my fear of needles. The nurses are PHENOMENAL, I truly felt like they cared for me and knew my specific needs every time I walked into the Tribeca office.
I rarely waited for an appointment [at Weill Cornell Medical College]...It was super easy to get in touch with the doctor, a little harder to get in touch with the front desk directly, but I would go through my doctor's assistant. The IVF suite where retrieval and transfer was also very nice, clean and had sweet employees and nurses. The staff is all so educated and prepared, you are in great hands here...The nurses are PHENOMENAL, I truly felt like they cared for me and knew my specific needs every time I walked into the Tribeca office.
How was your experience with Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
Dr. Pereira must see 100s of patients, but he made me feel like he was specifically there for me. He answers emails within minutes and often would call me when I would send a panic email to reassure me that things were okay and we would troubleshoot where needed. He explained things to me when I had questions, I never felt emabrassed to ask anything and even during invasive treatment moments, I never felt self concious, he always made sure I was comfortable and aware of everything that I should expect to happen. His communication is stellar and his bed side manner, unmatched.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nigel Pereira at Weill Cornell Medical College?
I would tell a prospective patient to ask every question, come prepared with questions since the appointments are often quick and routine. I would also encourage any patient to send an email when feeling unsure - there is no better feeling than your doctor reassuring you that things are okay when you feel that something may be wrong. Ask the question, write the email. He will be there for you!

Describe the protocols Nigel Pereira used in your cycles at Weill Cornell Medical College and their degree of success.
I began treatment with Dr. Pereira in October 2019 with Clomid and Timed Intercourse. Since we were diagnosed with unexplained infertility, there was really nothing wrong with us on paper, we started "slow" to see how I reacted to the Clomid. This cycle failed. But, we knew I was ovulating so perhaps it was timing - in November 2019, we tried Clomid again with a trigger shot and Timed Intercourse, this cycle also failed but again, I had ovulated. In December, we tried an IUI which unfortunately failed as well. Now we know I ovulate and my partner's sperm is perfectly normal, however, my Prolactin level came back slightly elevated. Dr. Pereira assured me it was nothing to worry about but I did have an MRI on my brain to ensure there was no pituatary tumor. MRI was clear! I took January and February off as I had a cyst from the Clomid. In March, we tried Letrozole and my body responded better to this medication, I ovulated, we triggered and tried IUI. This cycle failed as well. COVID hit and treatment was cancelled. The second treatment was able to resume, Dr. Pereira was in contact with me to discuss next steps. We tried one more Letrozole cycle in May before moving on to IVF. I came to this conclusion in partnership with Dr. Pereira. I was frustrated and ready to move on to a more advanced option. Dr. Pereira and team gave me all the information I needed to begin (it's a lot) and even helped with insurance as that is almost the hardest part of this whole thing! We began IVF in June and responded very well to the protocol. Dr. Pereira was very supportive and involved every step of the way. I am terrified of needles to the nurses supported me with bloodwork and made me feel comfortable. We had our egg retrieval and decided on a "freeze all" cycle and a day 5 FET. We retrieved 20 eggs, 19 mature and 12 made it to day 5! Outstanding results, we could not have been happier. We did do ICSI and did not do genetic testing on the embryos. For our transfer cycle, I was able to do a natural cycle with no medication, just monitoring for ovulation so a lot of bloodwork but was so grateful to be able to do this naturally and unmedicated. Dr.Pereira had faith in me! We had our transfer and found out we were pregnant in August. I am currently 3 months pregnant with a healthy baby girl.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Weill Cornell Medical College. (Assigned nurse: Inez and Crystal )
The nurses at Cornell are amazing! Inez was my go-to at monitoring appointments and for bloodwork, she is an angel. She would let me lay down and treated me with kid gloves as this was my biggest fear. If Inez was not around, the other nurses were also just as sweet - they would even give me an apple juice and snack afterwards. Crystal would call me with results and next steps after monitoring and she was very clear and thorough, which I always appreciated.
Describe your experience with Weill Cornell Medical College.
Weill Cornell is huge but I never felt like a number. I personally received majority of my treatment at the Tribeca office which is beautiful and clean. I rarely waited for an appointment. It was during COVID times so things were different but so clean, so safe and organized. It was super easy to get in touch with the doctor, a little harder to get in touch with the front desk directly, but I would go through my doctor's assistant. I had great insurance. Copay for appointments were $40 each time. IUI was about $300-$500 each time. My MRI was $1600. IVF was about $30k all in.
