Dr. Resetkova has sat and listened to me cry, both in person and over the phone, and has been so compassionate. She definitely does not just see us as a number, she has called me anytime she hears about a possible study or alternative, such as a clinic in LA that will allow same sex couples to adopt embryos, that may help us successfully achieve pregnancy...she goes out of her way to find ways to make this journey very individualized, to minimize your fears and help you understand this journey.
Layunda, or "Lou" [nurse at Boston IVF] as she is called, is so sweet and compassionate, she has always been so friendly and upbeat, and has been so supportive when things don't go as we want them to...The office opens early for monitoring appointments, which is great. On the weekends all monitoring is done at the Waltham office, and all procedures are done at the Waltham office, so the doctor that does your egg retrieval or embryo transfer may not be your primary physician but, the ENTIRE team is wonderful and so caring. My most recent post-op nurse was so attentive and helped me manage the pain I was having with such compassion.
How was your experience with Nina Resetkova at Boston IVF?
I have had nothing but positive experiences with the team at BostonIVF South Shore, from the administrative staff, nurses, phlebotomist, ultrasound techs, and Dr. Resetkova. Everyone is so kind and seems to be genuinely interested in you and your path to parenthood. I can be open an honest with them about how all of this feels, and how frustrating an infertility diagnosis is. They were genuinely happy when we did achieve a pregnancy, and they cried with us when we lost that pregnancy. I feel so completely supported by the team at BostonIVF.

Describe the protocols Nina Resetkova used in your cycles at Boston IVF and their degree of success.
I did several un-medicated IUI cycles, then moved onto medicated IUI cylces, non of which resulted in pregnancy. We tried cycles with clomid, and FSH. Then we moved onto IVF, my first IVF cycle started with a short period of oral contraceptive then with used Gonal-F and Menopur to stimulated. We started with lower doses of the Gonal-F and increased as needed with monitoring. This cycle produced very few eggs and was converted to an IUI cycle which was unsuccessful. The next IVF cycle started with high doses of Gonal-F and Menopur, with this cycle we retrieved 8 eggs, more then she expected, 6 fertilized and 2 made it to good quality day 5 blastocysts. We opted not to test our embryos because we were worried with limited numbers we could risk losing them. We transferred both of these embryos and I was pregnant but, lost the baby to a trisomy at 18 weeks. My mos recent IVF cycle we followed the same medication plan, high doses of Gonal F and Menopur, we got 3 eggs, and 2 fertilized. We transferred both of these embryos on day 3. We are now in a holding period because of the COVID 19 pandemic. I am taking an oral contraceptive now in preparation for a hopeful cycle start in May. At that time we will be using Gonal F, Lupron, and Menopur (I believe).

Describe the costs associated with your care under Nina Resetkova at Boston IVF.
Some of my care was covered under insurance but, some was not. In total I believe we have spent over $10,000 on fertility treatments.
Describe Nina Resetkova's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Boston IVF.
Our physician explained to us that given my age, the likelihood of multiple pregnancy was low as we would likely lose 1/2 of the embryos transferred. If we retrieve more than 5 eggs that successfully fertilize we will wait until day 5 if possible and transfer 2, if we get less then 5 we will transfer on day 3 and will transfer up to 3 embryos based on quality.
[Dr. Resetkova] listened to every question my husband and I had, no question was stupid to ask nor did she make me feel bad for asking. She took her time explaining in great detail what her thoughts were, and made sure to use words that my husband and I could understand...After the initial consultation, we were given our next steps which included blood work for both of us, imaging for myself and a semen analysis for my husband...Dr. Resetkova gives me a 110% if not more and as her patient I feel truly grateful to have her as my doctor
They are on top of the voicemail messages [at Boston IVF], they call you back in a timely manner, and the way the phone is set up, it’s very easier for you to get the correct person you need to speak with. However I do wish that sometimes there was a direct line or extension you could use rather then going through all the prompts...Don’t be afraid to call with questions or concerns even if they may seem silly.
How was your experience with Nina Resetkova at Boston IVF?
My very first visit was a telehealth appointment, I was a bit apprehensive about it since we would be discussing in detail my husbands and I medical history and the issues that we have been having trying to conceive. She made us feel so comfortable talking with her, I’ve never had such a good experience before with a doctor (her bedside manner is outstanding). After the initial consultation, we were given our next steps which included blood work for both of us, imaging for myself and a semen analysis for my husband. She had let us know that results could take a little bit to come back, I appreciated (that way I didn’t have expectations on when I would be hearing back) she said it would take around 6 weeks which it did. Around that time is when we met with her for a second time, we discussed our results and what the next steps after that would be. She referred my husband to urologist, who in turn started my husband on a medication to help with his sperm. She sent me for a 3d ultrasound to see if I in fact had a bicornuate uterus, and to my surprise I did not. She called me in a timely manner to go over my results where she told me that would need to have a procedure done and she would be sending a referral over. So that is where I’m at right now in my treatment.
So having said alll that, Dr. Resetkova gives me a 110% if not more and as her patient I feel truly grateful to have her as my doctor.

Dr. Resetkova was extremely caring throughout the process of the first time I walked into her offie to personally calling me to tell me about my positive pregnancy test. She explained everything to me, as it applied to me. She customized my treatment for what my body was doing at that moment....I was diagnosed with PCOS. I was prescribed 5mg of Femara at the beginning of my cycle. I went in for regular blood work and ultrasound monitoring. I was told when to administer the Ovidrel shot in order to induce ovulation
The entire staff at Boston IVF is very helpful and dedicated to their patients. I never had to worry about getting my results; they called the second they were in and communicated next steps. They were easily available by phone or email....Little wait time in scheduling appointments with the doctor. Really warm staff that gets to know you well as your treatment progresses. I did not have any negative experiences. I was seen at the Quincy office throughout the entire process and I was always in and out on time.
How was your experience with Nina Resetkova at Boston IVF?
I absolutely love working with Dr. Resetkova. I had the opportunity to be seen at MGH or BWH where my consults with MFMs were as I would be a high risk pregnancy after my second trimester loss. I chose to return to Dr. Resetkova because I fully trusted her after the first round of successful treatment. She explained everything to me, I never had questions about what would happen next. After my loss she developed a plan to get us towards our next round of treatment, when we were comfortable, as well as to help me get the information I needed to understand what happened in my pregnancy as well as what questions to ask of a MFM who will be managing my pregnancy in the future.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Nina Resetkova at Boston IVF?
Ask questions about the various forms of treatment. A lot of clinics it seems will want to rush you to IUI or IVF. We chose to use ovulation induction without IUI after I asked further questions and she was completely on board and it worked for us our first try.

She explained everything to me, as it applied to me. She customized my treatment for what my body was doing at that moment. When I experienced a second trimester loss (unrelated to infertility or her treatment) she sat down with me to go over everything that happened; gave me helpful information as well as questions to ask MFM during consults; and created a new treatment plan with me so I would have steps to take, as she knows and understands that I'm a person that really needs a plan and having steps to look forward to.

I was diagnosed with PCOS. I was prescribed 5mg of Femara at the beginning of my cycle. I went in for regular blood work and ultrasound monitoring. I was told when to administer the Ovidrel shot in order to induce ovulation and on what days to have relations. We then went back for two HCG blood draws and two ultrasounds before I went to my regular OB for care.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Nina Resetkova at Boston IVF.
I had a $40 copay for my visits with Dr. Resetkova; I paid nothing out of pocket for monitoring ultrasounds/blood work. I had a prescription co pay for Ovidrel that was $130. I did not pay for Femara.
[Dr. Nina Resetkova] was very nice - and she was thorough with work ups before a transfer - making sure that everything looked good. But - didn’t seem like there is much explanation or changes on how make the next transfer more successful...I agreed with her choice one embryo as a twin pregnancy could be dangerous for me...I was on estrogen. 2 orally. I needed more - so we did add the patch and another one twice a day. We were able to find a good amount that got my lining to look very nice for a transfer
They may care [at Boston IVF] - but - sometimes there is nothing they can do to move things quicker. They try to give individual care - but I had a very tough time of all of this- someone that is not a long hauler like me may be happier with their care...I felt I had to wait a long time for calls sometimes- IVF is very stressful and waiting all day for a call can seem like an eternity... it seems if you emailed the nurses, your concerns were not actually remembered at the next appointment

She [Dr. Resetkova] was very interested in making sure she followed up on my questions, she spoke to me in passing and took the time to ask questions to follow up as she made sure I understood the process...She asked alot of questions, required medical tests and followed up with phone calls. She took the time to listen and offer options. We are not well off so she worked with our insurance to do what was covered.
Need more clinics [Boston IVF] in the upstate region. Weakness was distance drive 2 hours to get there. New patient needs to know to order kicker shots on their own for the 2nd round so that it arrives on time, give yourself two days and call to find out that order was placed...20$ copays. 200 IUI costs, 200 lab test....[Nursing Staff] Upbeat...You are in good hands. Ask as many questions as you need to.

We stuck to Clomid as it had less chance of multiple babies. IUI was performed twice and now looking into invitro as we knew the odds of husbands sperm not being effective were very very low. If we cannot get assistance with the cost then we will go with donor sperm. We had spent 10k on adoption that failed when court turned over children to the father. Husband is jail guard and Im an author and pet groomer. We make enough to pay the mortgage and bills but not alot more than that. Cost is what is keeping us from invitro but that would be the more ideal route. Huband wants to be the father.

First cycle [with Dr. Nina Resetkova] I was on 300 Gonal and 150 menopure. Second cycle we added in estradiol and for better results...She called me personally at 7:30 on a Friday night to resolve an issue...She was good, gave all the risks and options. When she called with test results she gave the next step. She personally called me...Only con would be she didn’t mention she was going on maternity leave or who was covering for her.
Insurance covered most of it and the financial coordinator [at Boston IVF- South Shore] was on top of it...Large clinic with several locations. They offer aggressive treatment plans. Nursing is triage if you call the main line and things slip through the cracks, ie. they forgot to order my meds because I called on a weekend. Poor communication within departments. It’s a business, the run as such... [Nurses had] Zero compassion...Organized and good follow up
