From day one Dr Brady felt genuine and approachable. She clarified all aspects of the procedure despite countess inquiries and repetitive questions. It felt like she was truly trying to help any way she could (professionally speaking )... is compassionate and realistic. She didn’t sugarcoat things and was straight forward. She takes time to explain difficult concepts and transparent in her approach as well as expectations. You definitely walk away informed and with agenda for next time
The staff [at Columbia University] were amazing and quick to reply to emails. We loved our team(Varda, Sherry, Destiny, Madison), they made the whole process so much easier...The clinic is clean and calming. The appointments are on time and morning monitoring were done quickly and early which could accommodate different work schedules. Professional staff and equally professional response. Ability to do onsite specimen delivery and bloodwork . Weak financial billing process - incorrect charges had to be disputed multiple times but this Columbia billing issue as a opposed to the clinic itself

Luckily our cost were minimal since I went on my husband’s insurance as a secondary. Medications were covered by organizations (livestrong & heartbeat) due to my oncology diagnosis. Sherry helped facilitate that.

The first visit with Dr. Brady was very informative and she performed my first IUI. After that all procedures were done by technicians and IUI's done by different Dr's. I was only able to speak with my nurse moving forward and found it hard to communicate with my Dr.... I didn't like that there was no follow up from her after each on of my IUI's. No firther review as I only sat with her once, and she only did one out of three IUI's.
The front desk staff, medical assistants and ultra sound techs [at Columbia U] were super friendly and upbeat. The clinic itself ran on time. Appointments were taken as they were set. I didn't like that my Dr. didn't preform my iui's and it felt like I was just another number by iui #3. By IUI #3 a Dr was no longer doing my follow up ultrasounds and I was assigned to a tech. The great thing about the technicians was that they were more informative than the Dr's.

Egg extraction with PGS testing on the final embryos prior to freezing. We also went with a natural cycle for the transfer as she [Dr. Paula Brady] wanted to help lessen the strain on my thyroid.... She walked us through the process and made us feel comfortable asking questions...She provided my husband and I with all the details needed regarding the IVF process and also coordinated with my thyroid doctor to provide the best treatment plan.

Between my nurse Karen and the entire nursing staff, I was always emailed promptly with my results/next steps and had all my questions answered...Early morning monitoring appointments worked well in this office. Dr Brady has been patient with my questions and has made herself available to myself and my partner whenever we have questions or concerns.... She diagnosed me with PCOS and the analyzed my husband to ensure there were no male factors. There weren’t so we are proceeding with treating my PCOS. She started me on a low dose of letrezole to get me to ovulate and the first cycle went as planned but did not result in a pregnancy. We are now trying again.
The nursing staff [Columbia University] is excellent. My nurse, Karen, always calls promptly with my results and answers any questions I have.... The clinic has been great so far. I have no other fertility clinic experiences to compare t to, but it far exceeds my experiences with other doctors offices. They are friendly, responsive, and prompt.... I have my copay at each visit and the rest gets billed to insurance. So far, I have not seen a bill except from the labs.
How was your experience with Paula Brady at Columbia University?
She is very knowledgeable and compassionate. She hears my concerns and makes me feel comfortable by explaining the plan and why she has chosen that specific plan for my partner and me. Though we haven’t see. Her for many cycles, she has proven that she is invested in our future pregnancy.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Paula Brady at Columbia University?
I would advise to trust her but at the same time, not be afraid to ask questions. She can be short because she is confident and knows what she’s doing, but you may require further explanation and details. She has never made me feel that my questions are too much.

She is very smart. She has a calming manner that right away relaxes you. She can be straightforward and tell you what you need to hear. She mentioned losing weight would be helpful. Dr. Brady goes through every detail with you. When you leave a visit you feel like all your questions were answered. She didnt give us false hope but she was encouraging. She has a lot of patience.... She recommended we try letrozole over clomid because I have pcos.
[Columbia University] is clean and pretty. The front staff are kind. The medical assistants can be a bit rough and cold sometimes. The other doctors that did monitoring for me were really nice and friendly. It is close the train at Columbia Circle so really easy to get their by public transportation.... My care coordinator was super incredible. When I called and burst out crying she took the time to talk to me and calm me down. She called me two days later just to check up and see how I'm doing even though my nurse already called me.

She [Dr. Brady] was always available through email and addressed all our concerns . Best part being she was more positive than Us through the whole process which is a an essential thing to have in your provider...She was particular there was no problem with my ovulation, even though I insisted trying clomid she was very patient and did not put me down . In the end all I needed for success-full transfer was what she recommended on our fist day of consultation...
They [nurses at Columbia University] are just exceptional ! Even over the weekends they would get back to me if there was a glitch . The Nursing staff is very friendly and supportive. Loved how professional and caring the sonographers were...Pleasant environment and a very well co ordinated clinic . They value your time . Never had any delays and they always are very accommodating...

Dr. Brady is phenomenal. She takes her time explaining the various treatment options and always encouraged me to ask all my questions. She has also been through the IVF process herself which in my opinion adds more weight to her professional advice...I will be starting the IVF process with her soon and she has been wonderful about answering my questions and making sure I know what to expect before we start. During a break from treatment, I experienced a spontaneous pregnancy which ended in a miscarriage and she was very supportive while I grieved.
staff [at Columbia University] is lovely. The entire office staff excellent at their job. During the morning monitoring hours you can see countless people come in and things always run very smoothly...In the roughly 8 months I have been coming to this office I have encountered numerous doctors and nurses and they have all been incredible professional. The nurses seem to love what they do and the physicians all seem to genuinely care.

I was and am overall happy with my experience with Dr. Brady. She was always willing to listen to my thoughts and adjust the protocol. She would answer every question I have. She is also compassionate and treats you like a human being...Started with a traditional antagonist protocol; trying a long protocol in the second round...Dr. Brady answered every single question I had without neglecting any.
The [Columbia University] strength is that it's a reputable institution. The weakness is that the care team keeps changing and often disorganized. It is also annoying that there isn't a direct number to reach out to the care team...My nurse was generally OK with communication but was often out and I was assigned to a different nurse and the communication wasn't always smooth. I had an incident where a substitute nurse mixed up the medications/protocols which was pretty upsetting. The care coordinator (Diamond) barely did anything and wasn't super communicative.

With Dr. Brady, I felt heard. She showed a lot of care and attention, and shared my sadness with a negative outcome. Dr. Brady was there for me every single step of the way...wanted to get to the bottom of all the failures...had me do a biopsy and a Receptiva test, which showed a silent endometriosis...in communication with me throughout the entire process...made me feel at ease
[At Columbia University] It was very easy to schedule appointments and be seen within a few minutes of your arrival. Everyone was very warm and caring. If I had a blood test and an ultrasound, I would be in and out of the clinic within 15 minutes...Angela was my nurse and she was excellent
How was your experience with Paula Brady at Columbia University?
I have done a failed IUI, two egg retrievals, and three failed IVF transfers with two previous clinics. When the last failure occurred, the doctor did not even bother calling or emailing us. There was zero care and they were not interested in finding out the cause. As soon as we had out first consultation with Dr. Brady, she wanted to get to the bottom of all the failures. She had a game plan and this plan worked! She had me do a biopsy and a Receptiva test, which showed a silent endometriosis. Such simple tests that could have been performed by the other clinics. But they were not interested in finding out the cause. Dr. Brady, on the other hand, is the opposite, she wants you to be successful the first time. She was in communication with me throughout the entire process. I felt like there was no question I could have asked her that she would not have answered. She made me feel at ease and held my hand throughout the entire journey. During such a frustrating process, you need a doctor that really cares about your individual well-being.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Paula Brady at Columbia University?
This was my third clinic and for the first time ever, I felt like Dr. Brady and her team actually cared and were not simply there to collect money. Every one of my questions was always answered (most of the time, within the same day). I had no worries about anything. With the previous two clinics, all I did was worry and had no communication with the doctors. Dr. Brady was there for me every single step of the way.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Columbia University. (Assigned nurse: Angela Pugliese)
Angela was my nurse and she was excellent. I always received very detailed instructions during the egg retrieval and transfer protocols. I never worried about whether I was doing something wrong and never really needed any clarification. I was an out-of-town patient and did my monitoring at an outside clinic prior and post embryo transfer. Angela was always on top of getting the results from the outside monitoring clinic. If she did not have them by certain time of the day, she would call the clinic and call me. She was very diligent and did not want anything to go wrong.

How was your experience with Paula Brady at Columbia University?
Dr. Brady was fantastic. Throughout my egg freezing process, she communicated clearly and compassionately, which was both helpful and comforting to me given that the process mostly involves at home, self-administered injections. Along the way, I received multiple personalized emails and phone calls from her, and when I did see her in person, I never felt like she was in a rush, despite working in such a busy practice. She always took the time to explain things thoroughly and answer all of my questions. I, too, work in a busy healthcare setting, so I appreciate that this is not always easy to do!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Paula Brady at Columbia University?
Trust her!

The team at Columbia Fertility made my egg freezing process pretty seamless. It was easy for me to get the medications I needed and schedule appointments when I needed to. My nurse communicated with me daily and was easy to get ahold of when I had additional questions and concerns. As a whole, the practice was fantastic. Again, I, too, am a clinician in a very busy healthcare setting, so I genuinely appreciate that a seamless patient experience is difficult to achieve! Having said that, Columbia Fertility gave me that.
Describe your experience with Columbia University.
Everything about Columbia Fertility was top notch. As I stated before, Dr. Brady and the rest of her team provided a pretty seamless patient experience for me. It was easy to get the medications I needed and schedule appointments when I needed to, and my egg retrieval procedure was also pretty painless. I myself am a PA at a busy hospital here in New York City, so I appreciate how difficult it can be to create such a positive patient experience for so many patients, especially when there are multiple moving parts i.e. daily injections, ultrasounds, instructions, etc. Dr. Brady and her team have all of this ironed out-- they were incredibly efficient as well as genuinely compassionate.

Columbia Fertility Clinic functions very efficiently. One of my concern before starting my cycle is how will I go for bloodworks monitoring with my work schedule. The clinic opens at 7am this allows me to come in then head to work. Most important they are very on time. Another plus is you are able to schedule your appoinment via their portal...Nurse Angela is wonderful. She's very good with replying to your email and addressing your concerns.

We started with IUI's, we completely two but they failed. Then the pandemic hit and I left New York to be in London with my family. She counselled me and gave me a second opinion on my IVF procedures in the UK, constantly sharing my tests results with her. When i returned to the US she requested we do another couple of tests. Another HSG to check for blocked tube with fluid and a receptiva biopsy to check for inflammation caused by endometriosis. She then treated me with Lupron after the tests suggested i had endometriosis which resulted in a successful pregnancy.

Most of my tests were covered on insurance apart from the receptiva which cost about $800. I had to pay for the embryo transfer as my insurance didn't cover it and it was about $2600

Dr. Brady is the most responsive doctor I've ever worked with. She answers direct emails quickly giving you the peace of mind you need right away. How was your experience with Paula Brady at Columbia University?
I have been a patient of Dr. Brady at Columbia Fertility for about a year and a half during which time I had gone through 4 rounds of IVF (2 of which under Dr. Brady's care). She is very kind and patient but most importantly, she is responsive. She provides you with her direct email right away and responds to every email very quickly. Due to male factor infertility and low ovarian reserve, our first round of IVF only resulted in one embryo to blastocyst with multiple chromosomal abnormalities. Dr. Brady then referred my husband to a urologist who recommended surgically removing sperm to be frozen. Our second round of IVF with Dr. Brady resulted in 3 embryos to blastocyst, one of which was genetically normal and frozen. During IVF, Dr. Brady is not always the one to do your morning monitoring appointments but usually made it a point to see me at least once prior to egg retrieval (but would still answer questions along the way if I had any). The frustrating thing about Columbia is that you don't always get your doctor doing the retrieval because they're on a rotation, so I never did experience a retrieval with Dr. Brady. After our second round of IVF, we had hoped to bank an additional embryo. At that time, Dr. Brady left for maternity leave which ultimately led me to try out two different doctors (one at another clinic). We did not get any more embryos to blastocyst between those 2 additional rounds. Ultimately, upon Dr. Brady's return from leave, we went back to see her to prepare for a frozen embryo transfer with the one and only viable embryo we had. She noticed right away that I had a polyp on my uterus and was able to quickly schedule me for a hysteroscapy which she made sure was on her personal schedule. We then went through the steps ahead of our FET which we were also luckily able to schedule on a day that she would be there. She was so kind and patient during the FET process and maintained a positive attitude that put me at ease. I received a positive pregnancy test and am now 9 weeks along. She made sure to see me personally during every single ultrasound appointment and scheduled me in for extra visits after noticing a hematoma on the placenta that caused some bleeding. Overall, aside from some frustrations with the Columbia Fertility clinic as a whole, I couldn't recommend Dr. Brady more.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Paula Brady at Columbia University?
While Dr. Brady is extremely responsive and thorough, know that Columbia Fertility works on a rotation so you won't always see her for IVF monitoring, egg retrievals or embryo transfers.

Describe Paula Brady's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Columbia University.
We didn't do multiple embryo transfer because Dr. Brady recommended not to. I understood her concerns but to be honest I would really like to do multiple embryo transfer for my next pregnancy given what we had experienced this time. (nothing negative at all, just want to increase our chances)

I never actually met Dr. Brady but know that she was reviewing my results and honestly, it was less important to me the particular person I was talking to, and more that someone I trusted was monitoring my treatment plan...If you care a lot about working primarily/only with this doctor, this may not be the right choice for you. She was more behind the scenes in my scenario...
It's [Columbia University] a very efficient clinic so they move quickly but did always follow up with me and were available for questions. Responses via email were quick and thorough...Usually in and out in 30-45 minutes total for the monitoring appointments which I thought was pretty fair. Centrally located by Columbus Circle Scheduling was easy and I appreciate that you can just email your care team directly and not go through some junky portal...

All my injections were done together at night which I preferred. Previous clinic they were spread out morning and night and I found that much more taxing on my schedule, emotionally, and even physically.
