Dr. Boostanfar always took the time to explain the reason behind everything he was doing...counseled me through an ectopic pregnancy...encouraged/required us to do testing and make sure we were at the best place going into each step...always instilled confidence in me at each step and made sure I knew he was going to help me reach my goals. We have our daughter as a result of him and are currently trying for another.

HRC [Fertility] has a little bit of a factory feel, but they are doing this day in/day out so it should instill confidence. Billing can be a little tricky and I often had to figure out payments/credits on my own. Scheduling appointments is easy/convenient. But overall they have great success rates and know what they're doing...only issue with the nursing staff is that I have been through so many different coordinators throughout the years (around 5). I now have Shanise and she has been great.

You can trust that he knows what he's doing!! I did a ton of research on my own, but everything I saw/read always lined up with his advice.

We would have appreciated if Dr. Boostanfar was upfront and honest from our first consultation on him not taking my case. He only sees patients who are a candidates for IVF. Unfortunately, I am not a candidate for IVF. On our second consultation, he told us he was not able to help us because he only does IVF. It would have been helpful for him to disclose that on our first visit so we could have gone elsewhere and not wasted precious time and money.

[HRC Fertility is] Disorganized. We were given wrong appointment times by several nurses and staff. Making appointment for testing was difficult. Most times they did not pick up their phone. They took it upon themselves to make appointments for us and then letting us know about it later on...Don't go if you are not a candidate of IVF. Also, his [Dr. Boostanfar] personality is not warm and friendly. He is sarcastic and blunt. This type of personality doesn't work for everyone.

Per our initially consultation with Dr. Boostanfar, he determined I was not a candidate for IVF and noticed that Dr. Boostanfar stopped taking an interest in our case once that was determined. It turned out that Dr. Boostanfar only does IVF. It would have been helpful to know that from the start so we didn't need to waste time doing a follow up consultation.

Describe the protocols Robert Boostanfar used in your cycles at HRC Fertility (Jinxin Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.

He was the only doctor who did not come up with any strategies or protocol. I went to three other REs after going to see Dr. Boostanfar and they all had a protocol for me to try. Dr. Boostanfar had my husband and I do genetic testing, HSG, sperm analysis and fragmentation. He wanted to find out the cause of infertility. Which other REs did not find necessary since the cause was due to premature ovarian failure do to simple lab work/family history.

Yuli often did not respond to my emails or forward my results timely. We were given incorrect times/dates/location for fertility testing. It made it very stressful having to chase after her for clarifications on what we needed to do, and getting results back. We were also given an unnecessary follow up consultation followed by it being canceled an hour before our appointment.

Dr. Boostanfar can be a little sarcastic but is more enjoyable than disturbing. If needed he has no problem setting up an appointment for reassurance and if he’s not available he pairs you up with someone he thinks will best meet your needs. He might minimize the need for test if you’re young and healthy but also goes over the pros and cons like ruling everything out vs saving money. He meets you where you’re at and let’s you take he lead...He is open to single or multiple but he will tell you what he recommends and pros and cons such as possible complications with twins...

Ask questions and rule everything out. Sometimes saving money ends up being more expensive. Also if you don’t think he’s funny (which he is) tell him and he’s very respectful. He also knows not to be sarcastic during serious situation.

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Robert Boostanfar at HRC Fertility (Jinxin Fertility Network clinic)?

Dr. Boostanfar gave us the time of day and linked us to the care coordinator that best fit our needs. They treated us equally and evaluated both my partner and I. When my partner had bleeding episodes they were available and made time for us to come in. They helped plan our treatment when we moved away to best support us. When we had a miscarriage he was compassionate and helped us rule all possibilities out to best succeed in our second cycle. During the embryo transfer he was gentle and supportive along with his nurses. He explained what was happening with pictures of the embryos.

During our first cycle we determined I was healthy we did minimal medication and basic labs. Our retrieval was not as great as we expected. This only left us with three transferable eggs which resulted in two miscarriages. During our second cycle we did more medication, genetic testing, and more follow up on progress this resulted in 8 good genetically tested eggs and one healthy baby after a two embryo transfer.

She was compassionate and available. Would give us advice on what she would do. She held space for us when we needed it. She helped us find affordable medication and supported our schedule.

They do not call back so you have to call a lot or their main office not at the location and everyone is not on the same page.

We did a total of two cycles. Our first cycle was in the high 20s and the second cycle was in the high 30s due to change in medication, additional test to rule out anything else and remove polyps, and genetic testing.

We did an egg retrieval [with Dr. Robert Boostanfar] on my wife that went beautifully. We then did a mock embryo transfer to ensure that the transfer would go well. He had me on estrogen, an antibiotic, a steroid, progesterone and 3 lipid infusions. I had acupuncture twice on the day of the transfer. They checked my labs weekly and we did about 4 ultrasounds...Just before our 13 week perinatal appointment, we lost the baby and Dr. Boostanfar called us immediately like a family member and has emailed questions for us to ask our OBGYN because this is an extremely rare tragedy in his experience.

The clinic [HRC Fertility] was organized, clean, warm and welcoming. It was easy to access. All the facilities are in one building, which makes everything very easy...Our nurse coordinator, Alina, has become our friend. She wants our family to grow as though it is her family, too. This process is not glamorous, it requires every ounce of your being and heart and this clinic has that vibe. They are there to make you comfortable and with care, get you and your family what you want.

He is up to date with his knowledge of expertise and the fact that he suggested mini ivf at my age only proves that, since it is the quality and not the quantity that matters.

Dr. Boostanfar is busy but he will take his time to make sure all is clear. However it is better to have your questions ready for him. Fertility is seen as very personal hence some topics remained unspoken, but they should be discussable and he is the right person for it.

As mentioned I underwent the mini ivf, as it has become more and more clear that full blown high dosages of fertility hormones increase the number but not necessarily the quality of the eggs. I had a gentle cycle with injectables and low dose of everything. I had barely any side effects and experienced a pregnancy from the first cycle. Unfortunately ended in miscarriage due to genetic defect. So specifics: a mini ivf including the egg retrieval (my own), since only 3 eggs available, opted for ICSI to ascertain feryilization, topped it up with endometrial scratching which in peer reviewed journals has shown to be somewhat beneficial in some.

Dr. Boostanfar tailors his treatment to his individual patients. There is no “one fits all” principle and I can only express an opinion about my case, older age, max 2 to transfer since you don’t want add risk to mother and baby in case of multiples of higher number would be added. I had only 2 embryos but even if I had 3 still 2 would be transferred.

Dr. Boostanfar is direct. I am an educated, self-advocating patient and he took that into account when explaining why he chose a particular protocol for retrieval and transfer.... My cycle before finding Dr. B was a complete failure where I made no blasts. I was a low responder. Instead of jacking up my FSH, Dr. B suggested micro dose Lupron and HGH. I had 5 embryos sent off for testing and 2 came back normal.

The clinic [HRC- Encino] is on busy Ventura Boulevard. There is parking at the building, but it is pricey. I wish there validated for the attached parking, but you have to self-pay. The clinic itself is nicely decorated....I am an out of state patient, which can make things more difficult. His staff helped every step of the way.... They do offer a military/veteran discount, which is very nice!

My cycle before finding Dr. B was a complete failure where I made no blasts. I was a low responder. Instead of jacking up my FSH, Dr. B suggested micro dose Lupron and HGH. I had 5 embryos sent off for testing and 2 came back normal. For my transfer, he tried an out of the box protocol including an HCG injection, Neupogen uterine wash, vaginal viagra, intrilipids. It worked in terms of getting me pregnant.

The clinic itself is nicely decorated. I have been to others with shabby chairs and 1990 decor, but HRC is modern and clean. Each appointment I had in the Encino office, there was minimal wait time, if any at all. All of the staff from the front desk, phlebotomists, and nurses are all friendly and kind. Billing can be a little bit confusing. My case is likely unique with extra charges and additional procedures. They do offer a military/veteran discount, which is very nice!

After 2 HSG tests my results for my right ovary was still unclear. I mentioned that my childhood gynecologist believed I had endometriosis. Dr. Boostanfar recommended that I take care of my endometriosis before starting IVF. He was insistent about laparoscopic surgery with robotics. At that time there were no qualified doctors in Los Angeles to perform that procedure and he referred me to Dr. Nazaht in San Francisco. Dr. Nazaht removed my stage 2 & 3 endo from my uterus and colon. He also repaired my uterus that was beginning to become bicornuate. Dr. Nazaht also diagnosed me with one ovary (lost right side due to torsion). Then started IVF. Did PGS testing and ERA. ERA identified that my lining was inflamed possibly due to endometriosis and therefore began depot lupron procedures.

HRC has an excellent reputation in southern California, and their popularity is evident. Despite a sometimes busy waiting room, appointments typically run on time or close to the scheduled time. Appointments are quick but comprehensive. I have seen the doctor at every visit. My only constructive comment is that the financial/insurance department can be somewhat confusing at times. There were occasional unexpected add-on charges and it was difficult to understand clearance with my insurance and the clinic.

Both of my IUIs has different treatments. The first IUI I was on femara and the second I was on femara and injections. Both had negative outcomes, but I only have one tube working (the other was taken out due to blockage). When we decided to do IVF, dr boostanfar made specific plans for my case and adjusted the medication throughout the entire IVF process. After every ultrasound he made adjustments accordingly and we got 32 eggs out of it! 22 fertilized and 16 were sent off for biopsies.

It seemed towards the last few cycles I felt more like a number. The clinic [HRC - Encino] was very clean. I didn't like them moving where I received my acupuncture treatment into an open space. I loved that they offered acupuncture treatment there. The equipment seemed very up to date...All of the nurses were pretty good and caring. After my first cycle it seemed like the nurses kept rotating so I always saw a different nurse. That was annoying.

He was good about listening to my concerns and not pushing me out the door at least for the 1st few cycles. Towards the last the few cycles it seemed our consultations after were brief to me. I would see him for exams and pre and post retrievals and transfers. I don't know if my repeated disappointment was projected on to him and then he felt it harder to deal my transfer failure. I'm not sure.

we did only 3 day transfers. The last cycle we tried for a 5 day blastocyst. the embryo died between day 3 and 5. i don't remember specific medications but I remember that he said they were aggressive however in my Facebook support groups other women had more aggressive protocols so I do question that. Also, after my last cycle I suggested we test for the progesterone level only to find out that my progesterone level was short for a transfer. I wish we had done this before.

Dr. Boostanfar was that guy and thank god we found him. He is decisive and has great bedside manner. He explains things well, but doesn't speak to you like an idiot. His technique and skill is impeccable. Every step of the way was focused on me and my responses. I have been through treatments in other clinics where the only way to describe the cycle is "like a bunch of cows being herded through." This was absolutely not the case with Dr Boostanfar.

I did a round of IVF/ICSI with 5 day transfer of 3 embryos. I was on the Ganirelix protocol, which scared me because I had ovulated prior to retrieval during a cycle with a different RE. He was very sensitive to my concerns and explained why he thought this was still an appropriate choice and monitored me closely. I did successfully make it to retrieval under his care with 18 eggs retrieved.

She was present during my retrieval as it was a difficult procedure and it was so nice having her familiar face. I cannot thank her enough, mostly for putting up with me.

The office itself is quite attractive and modern. It is a large office and very clean. Upon making my appointment, the staff was very efficient, and my questions were answered quickly by the staff. However, I did not feel like the staff was warm and caring. ... the staff was efficient, not particularly kind or compassionate, But very businesslike. They did however respond to my phone calls quickly.

HRC is in a great location in Encino. It's easy to find parking across the street on Firmament. It's also great because the surgery center is attached! The waiting room is clean and comfortable. It always feels very peaceful. Things usually run on time too!... Tarika [the nurse] was great. She was available via the phone or email and always got back to me promptly. She knew how anxious I was (am) about the process and she always tried to set my mind at ease.

IUI#1= 50mg follistism CD5-12, trigger shot CD 13 + IUI CD14+Cd15 resulted in 3 follicles 17mm & (2)15mm resulted in negative pregnancy test. IUI#2 = 50mg follisitm CD 5-10, menopur but I don't remember the dosage. Trigger was much later this cycle, only produced one large folic @ 22mm, trigger shot CD18, IUI Cd19+Cd20. Resulted in negative pregnancy test.

Everything was completed in house [at HRC - Encino] and when I did need to do monitoring close to my home it was easily taken care of at HRC Rancho Cucamonga. My protocol was adjusted with each cycle (2 total) and I knew that he was in fact creating a plan that was designed for me. He is not a one size fits all RE.

My experience was positive. Traveled from across the US to see Dr. Boostanfarand was pleased with the decision. We were treated with respect at every turn. I experienced OHSS after returning home and he was helpful to my local doctors who were inexperienced in treating.... He was willing to consider our input on number transferred and offered insight on options without making us feel pressured.

We had no complaints on the clinic itself [HRC-Westlake Village]. We visited from out of state and felt comfortable in the area and the help provided with coordinating a distance visit was appreciated. I was traveling there with a 4 year old without my spouse for part of the stay and they were very helpful in accommodating my needs with him... I experienced OHSS after returning home and he was helpful to my local doctors who were inexperienced in treating.

Ask questions if you don’t understand—he was helpful and patient with us. I don’t feel like we were “needy” patients but if we had been I don’t think it would have been an issue.

Dr Boostenfar was very knowledgable and was the only doctor to recommend a DNA sperm fragmentation test prior to undergoing IVF. I loved that he cared so much about the success of the treatment rather than rushing into IVF right away. He is also a very busy doctor, so his visits felt rushed, not enough time to ask questions. ... He straight forward which I liked.

The clinic is small and it has more of a home feel, which we loved. The nurses were really sweet and knowledgeable and always responded to any questions and took the time to explain everything to us. However, I did notice this clinic was a little pricier than others. ... The nurses were GREAT! Very sweet and open to questions. Very organized as well.

Try to have enough $ saved up for a double procedure. I would have liked to have pre-paid for 2 rounds beforehand but didn't and couldn't afford a 2nd.
