He [Dr. Hunter] is clearly a very knowledgeable man on the subject of infertility and his passion for those struggling with it is very obvious. He is very detailed in his descriptions of everything that will going on or potentially going on. Took time to answer all of our questions no matter how bizarre they may have been...He took the time to get to know our specific situation and what are exact needs and expectations were...Don't be afraid to ask any questions or voice any concerns you may have, he will take care of whatever it is.
Everything [at Kentucky Fertility Institute] is all at one location. You dont have to go to a different location to get things done. It's a very clean and inviting facility.... [The nurses] They have all been very informative and detailed in explaining each step along the way. They all also are very quick at getting back with you if you have any questions or concerns...$12,500 for basic package of doctor care. $4250 for genetic screening and between $3000-$7000 for drugs.

Dr. Hunter was always honest with my husband and I about the process, and the emotional rollercoaster we may go through...gave us the best care. I know that he had our best interests in mind. He eased our worries and gave us clear explanations about our treatment. He was always willing to answer questions or address my concerns...the treatment or solution Dr. Hunter provides may not be an immediate fix. It may take time to see your results.

The care is very professional and they make you feel like that their only job is to get you pregnant although they have many other patients. I was really scared and upset at first but he [Dr. Robert Hunter] has eased that fear and made us hopeful... I'm starting clomid then will do an ultrasound and will take the injection drug for egg release...Great, personal care...Allow him to do his job. I'm one that likes to be in control of everything and this experience has made me realize I'm not always in control.
[Kentucky Fertility Institute] Very well designed state of the art. It is extremely clean...The lady that took blood was awesome. She did great and I had very little pain. The nurse for my ultrasound was great too. She eased the nerves during the process...Initial visit was $50. Dr Hunter is amazing. He tells me what plan he thinks is best but then always says that he is up for a discussion if I don't agree. Always asks if I have questions and address any concerns I may have. Dr Hunter went above and beyond explaining the risks for me and sent me to a high risk ob for consult...My first appoint with Dr Hunter was to get to know me, my story, my concerns, my experience. He listens and always asks if I have questions...
[Nurse] Carol [at Kentucky Fertility Institute] is amazing. She replies to my emails quickly and always gives me the correct medicine/dosage in a calendar. My pharmacy is particularly hard to deal with and carol takes care of it every time...Immediately when walking in the door, Angie greets you by name...[Cost of Treatments] $10,000...Dr Hunter went above and beyond explaining the risks for me and sent me to a high risk ob for consult...

Dr. Hunter is wonderful! He has personally called me multiple times to explain all of my test/labs results, to explain everything to me in detail. He also has wonderful bedside manner and will take his time and answer all of your questions completely. YOu can tell he genuinely cares about you!...I emailed him at night once and he called me back immediately when he wasn't even in the office. He went above and beyond to help us. He genuinely cares about you and your family! Could not recommend him more!

Dr. Hunter answers all questions my husband and I had for him...showed compassion and reassured me we’ll get me to where I want to be...addressed all my questions and issues I had in an extremely timely manner...always knew me by name and I was consistently treated with respect...waiting for the results of my IUI #5...We touched on previous cycles and they remembered all details
Strengths [of Kentucky Fertility Institute]: super friendly, goes into detail with billing, makes you feel not like a number but a human! Weakness: I really don’t have any...As a new patient just go into it with an open mind and don’t set such high expectations for yourself and use the medical staff as much as you need them...hey always call me back same day...Yylena has been through the protocol so she can relate. It’s nice when your going through this to have someone to relate to!

I had really long cycles, so I was put on Letrozole 5mg to start and then went in on day 12 for a scan with an IUI within the next 36 hours depending on how my follicles looked. After my 3rd IUI we upped my meds to see if we produce a few more follicles and we indeed did. Although, I’m not pregnant yet from my treatments I know I’ll get there! I’m currently waiting for the results of my IUI #5 and I’m hopeful!

Dr. Hunter has always been very responsive to questions and concerns that I had throughout the process and was always quick to ease any anxieties that came with my infertility journey. I often emailed him questions that I just knew were ridiculous and often had concerns that were insane, but he always answered the questions, he never made me feel as if my concerns were absurd (some were!), and he encouraged to email back with any other matters that bothered me. His patience and level of understanding what I was going through, although he obviously has never been in my shoes, was pretty remarkable. An added bonus: He is pretty funny! In due time, obviously when the moment is right and if you’re lucky, he may throw some dry humor your way!
My IVF Nurse Coordinator (Carol) [at Kentucky Fertility Institute] was perhaps the most compassionate person that I have ever met. She has dedicated her career to the obstetrics and infertility fields and her experience is apparent. She has a vast knowledge of the protocols, medications, has a wealth of resources, and is a great resource...I experienced very little wait times. The waiting room is cozy, has a drink station that I often took advantage of and had plenty of reading material to pass the few minutes I had to wait for my appointment. The office is always incredibly clean and the office staff are very welcoming. I never felt alone in my journey and the staff were always encouraging.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
This journey isn’t easy but it is definitely worth it. Keeping a close relationship with Dr. Hunter and asking him questions or allowing him to address concerns instead of resorting to Google, blogs or social media, will help keep your stress level at a manageable level. Resorting to the internet and comparing yourself to others that may have a similar journey leads to doubt and uncertainty. We under enough stress, do not do that to yourself! Explore options with Dr. Hunter, ask him for additional clarity if you need it, ask for studies/charts that you can review, etc. He has dedicated his professional life to this field – utilize him and stay off of the internet! Also, keep a positive attitude! Huge spoiler alert: Your fertility plan isn’t going to go exactly as you plan. This is where keeping a positive mindset is CRUCIAL. Sure, it’s easier said than done at times but there is always a positive to negative situations. Find the positive, celebrate it and continue on your path. DO NOT DWELL ON THINGS THAT YOU CAN NOT CONTROL. It’s a waste of your valuable time and mind.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
As anxious as I felt going into Dr. Hunter’s office for the first time to discuss my infertility, I was met by a very compassionate professional who was sincerely interested gaining a full perspective of my health history. During this evaluation, he sat in a chair somewhat next to me instead of interviewing me from across his desk. It helped ease my anxiety and I felt as if he was truly interested in gaining as much knowledge as he could so that he could prepare the best course of action that fit my needs. He was very attentive and I left with a base level of understanding of the IVF process that didn’t overwhelm me.

Dr.Hunter made the effort worth it as his primary involvement in treatment is more than we had hope for. He is constantly available to us and has made many after hours phone calls and email to help answer questions...is the example that should be used for all doctors. Knowledge, outgoing, great personality and great patient experience. The care we received was second to none. We will be seeing him and his team again when we look to have another child
Our nurse Carol [at Kentucky Fertility Institute] is like that family friend that you refer to as you aunt, she is very helpful and charismatic professional. She has also been very available and very much appreciate her caring...Angie and Sasha have me the appointments and financial aspect less stressful. They aways meet us with a smile and an eager to answer questions. Regardless of our outcome we would have no issues recommending Kentucky Fertility Institute to anyone and hopefully we can be added to their success rate.

Dr. Hunter is very to the point, describes everything thoroughly, and makes sure I don’t have any questions. Dr. Hunter is not very personable, but he does a great job as a Doctor...very knowledgeable and ready to change course if something does not seem to be working. Sometimes Doctors wait and wait to see if something may change but Dr. Hunter is very proactive, which I love! I do sometimes wish he was more personable.
All the staff here at KFI is very friendly and always willing to make me feel comfortable as much as possible...Strengths- I believe they truly are doing the best course of action at all times, I have full trust with Dr Hunter + staff. Friendliness and their knowledge. Weaknesses- Dr could be more personable. He is friendly, but could have more bed side manner in my opinion...Dr. Hunter is very knowledgeable and ready to change course if something does not seem to be working. Dr. Hunter was just what my wife and I needed. We were unsure of our options and what was even possible. He had multiple meetings with us before we even became patients. He’s very detailed and has a calming presence to him...We started with the most simple and cheapest option and ultimately ended up doing ivf. Ivf ended to being what worked...
There was a big snow/ice storm one night before our 8am visit. The [Kentucky Fertility] staff reached out to let us know they’d be there and how important it was to them to be there for us...Costs were broken down by event. IUI had a single price. IVF price was determined by different factors...What I would want a new patient to know is to write down all your questions. Ask everything on your list. It’s a big decision and can be a lot of money

Dr.Hunter is extremely qualified. I work in a hospital where he does some diagnostic surgical procedures and all his patients do very well. I have had good experiences at my visits so far. He doesn’t have an out-going personality per-say but that’s a small thing to sacrifice when you have a qualified doctor.... We have completed one round of IUI where I took 100mg of Clomid for 5 days. I had two monitoring ultrasounds
It’s a busy practice with just one doctor at this time. Getting an initial appointment took a little while. Very welcoming staff and atmosphere. They have an online patient portal that is nice to use.... Baseline Ultrasound- $265 Monitoring Ultrasounds- $175 each IUI procedure- $500... Dr.Hunter is extremely qualified.... We have completed one round of IUI where I took 100mg of Clomid for 5 days. I had two monitoring ultrasounds because my follicles weren’t growing as quickly as he thought. I have myself a trigger injection, ovedrel, on a Friday night . We did IUI on Sunday morning. Two weeks later I took a pregnancy test. Unfortunately, it was negative. We are waiting to see if our second IUI was successful. This time I took 150mg of Clomid for 5 days and only needed one monitoring ultrasound.

From our consult to our final appointment, [Dr. Hunter] was an impeccable communicator whether it be by email or phone. As should be expected with IVF and this journey in general, there were a couple of hiccups along the way that meant we needed to adjust our treatment. Dr. Hunter took those changes in stride and made the decision that would mean the best outcome for us...If you don’t pick up on his personality and humor right away, you will!
Kentucky Fertility Institute’s strengths include their timely and effective communication to their patients and between each other within the office, thorough protocols with necessary adjustments for best outcomes, amazing staff all around, and super clean facilities...IVF package was around $13,500, and medications were around $4,000...[the nurses] kept me updated while we were waiting on our transfer results and did so with the same care and concern
How was your experience with Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
My husband and I made the decision to go with Dr. Hunter immediately after our first consult. His approach was scientific, thorough, but hopeful. I’m not usually one who likes to hear the science behind everything, but when he spoke about our situation and potential treatment, we both felt like “this guy knows what he is doing!” I still remember my husband and I looking at each other during our first visit and thinking “he’s the one.” From our consult to our final appointment, he was an impeccable communicator whether it be by email or phone. As should be expected with IVF and this journey in general, there were a couple of hiccups along the way that meant we needed to adjust our treatment. Dr. Hunter took those changes in stride and made the decision that would mean the best outcome for us. We have appreciated his transparency, skill and ability, and humor from the beginning!
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
He is a quirky guy. If you don’t pick up on his personality and humor right away, you will!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
Dr. Hunter began every appointment by asking how I was doing and what questions I had. From the moment my husband and I met with him, we knew he would be the one to do our treatment. His communication with us was impeccable, whether by phone or email. He replies to emails within the hour if he can, but always within the day, and has even called to reply to an email.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Kentucky Fertility Institute. (Assigned nurse: Carol)
Carol and Candy were the nurses we dealt with at KFI. We started our treatment in the middle of COVID, so unfortunately there were some restrictions. The clinic had been doing their medication teaching primarily by video, but after I emailed Carol and asked if that was the only teaching, and I’m guessing she sensed my unease, she quickly adjusted her schedule to allow me to come in for some in person medication teaching. I was greeted by her at my scheduled time and taken back to go over meds. She was gentle and kind and made me feel as though I could do this. Something that once seemed so terrifying now was possible because this caring nurse had taught me how to do it and gave me the courage I needed to try it myself. This was my first meeting and memory of Carol. From the injections to the embryo transfer, she was always available by email or phone if I needed anything or had a question. But my next big memory of her was on retrieval day when I was nervous about the anesthesia and she held my hand. I can remember falling asleep with my hand in hers, and waking up to her telling me that my husband was on his way up. Her gentle but assertive nature made me feel so well taken care of! Candy was the nurse we saw at many of our appointments. She always greeted me with a smile and showed general care and concern. She also kept me updated while we were waiting on our transfer results and did so with the same care and concern.

Dr. Hunter recommended we transfer 1 embryo...When I had surgery (outside of IVF treatment) Dr. Hunter was incredibly kind and patient. He met with my family afterwards to share results. During IVF treatment he always made sure I was armed with all of the information I needed...He was incredibly easy to talk to. He asked a lot of questions about us to get to know us better and had clearly reviewed all of my medical records (which were incredibly lengthy) and had follow up questions and comments about my previous fertility treatment. We left feeling like we had
She [nurse at Kentucky Fertility Institute] was quick to respond, easy to get in touch with, and always made sure I had the medications needed. She was compassionate and kind...KFI is clean, modern, and organized. The staff are kind, easy to get in touch with, always able to answer questions, and enjoyable to work with. The clinic location is easily accessible off of the highway. I did have to call a few times to make my initial appointment, but once I had my first appointment everything was simple to schedule after that.
How was your experience with Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
My husband and I first met with Dr. Hunter for a consult after two failed rounds of IVF and a failed FET with a previous doctor. He was incredibly easy to talk to. He asked a lot of questions about us to get to know us better and had clearly reviewed all of my medical records (which were incredibly lengthy) and had follow up questions and comments about my previous fertility treatment. We left feeling like we had a plan and a doctor who was confident in his ability to help us reach out goals. I left that first appointment with renewed hope. During treatment Dr. Hunter was always calm and patient. He always answered questions, made sure I was fully aware of next steps, and always took time to make sure I was comfortable. I prefer providers who give me information straight and that's exactly what Dr. Hunter did throughout my care.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
Go to every appointment prepared. Dr. Hunter is incredibly smart. Get the most out of every appointment with him by being prepared prior to your appointment with any questions or concerns. Although he will always answer emails, etc. I found speaking to him in person was best for me so follow-up questions were easily answered.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
Dr. Hunter and his team were incredibly enjoyable to work with. At our first consultation he was curious about our lives - our interests, jobs, etc. During each appointment he always asked what was new and tried to make very clinical appointments more personal. He and his team always treated me with respect and care, answered every question I had without judgement, and responded to my questions and concerns outside of office visits incredibly quickly. When I had surgery (outside of IVF treatment) Dr. Hunter was incredibly kind and patient. He met with my family afterwards to share results. During IVF treatment he always made sure I was armed with all of the information I needed.

Gonal F (225) - Days 1-8 Gonal F (150) - Day 9 Menopur (75) - Days 1-9 Cetrotide - Days 5-8 Lupron - Trigger In my first and second retrievals with a different doctor I hyper-stimulated using Ovidrel and Pregnyl triggers and had difficulty recovering. Dr. Hunter used Lupron and I felt great after the retrieval and was able to return to work the next day.

Carol Powers was the IVF nurse assigned to my care. She was quick to respond, easy to get in touch with, and always made sure I had the medications needed. She was compassionate and kind.

Dr Hunter is the master of his craft, well versed in fertility and there's good reason why he's sought out in the state of KY. He's not there to be best friends, but if you're there long enough he may just become one :) He is there to ensure that your medical needs are addressed and the outcome you desire is met... If he sits in silence for a second it's because he's processing it all and he will be straight forward in telling you he's not sure if he doesn't know. That is something I admire in a physician.
[Kentucky Fertility Institute] Strengths- Love that I got to see Dr Hunter every time I went in, consistency, privacy, quick responses via email/phone call, explanation of knowledge, team overall- everyone works together, has good energy and collaborates to make your dream come true. Weaknesses- I haven't had a negative experience in almost 3 years of being seen there...I cannot say enough things about everyone there at KFI.

He's not there to be best friends, but if you're there long enough he may just become one :) He is there to ensure that your medical needs are addressed and the outcome you desire is met. It's hard when you're hormonal, scared and unsure to trust anyone with your future, but I would trust Dr Hunter 100/100 with mine. He's the cream of the crop when it comes to expertise in conception.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
He's not Patch Adams, but he is a Fertility Genius. It's not that he lacks compassion but he's not there to make friends. Honestly I'm not sure he has time for friends with how much time he spends in that clinic! Don't be intimidated by the lingo, the procedures, or the science of it all. If you're unsure about something ask him. If he sits in silence for a second it's because he's processing it all and he will be straight forward in telling you he's not sure if he doesn't know. That is something I admire in a physician.

I cannot say enough things about everyone there at KFI. Carol- love her to pieces. She is so warm, kind and compassionate. Kathy- one of a kind. She has got to be the most empathetic phlebotomist you'll ever encounter Paige-she loves her role in embryology and it shows. A smart cookie who truly lives and breathes her job. Nicole- a friendly welcoming face when you're coming in on a rough day Candy- your personal cheerleader during all of your appointments Dr Christensen- an embryo guru who will blow your mind with his extensive knowledge

We graciously received a military discount which was so appreciated!
Describe Robert Hunter II's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Kentucky Fertility Institute.
His logic was your outcome was the same in that you put in one embryo you get one baby, (unless it splits), you put in two embryos you get two babies. More embryos didn't yield a higher chance of them "sticking"

He [Dr. Hunter] is easy to get in touch with regarding prescription refills, next steps etc. you don’t have to go into the office everytime you want to talk to him about small things like side effects, etc....He is easy to talk to and always available through email if you have any questions or concerns. He basically has told me that the ball is in my court and we can move on to the next step to be more aggressive whenever I want to.
[Kentucky Fertility Institute is] Very clean and organized. One of the most popular clinics in town, so trying to get an initial appointment is hard. I made one in July and got an appt for October, so don’t plan on getting in right away. Once you have your initial appt, everything happens quickly.... My initial appt after insurance was about $100. My initial blood work up, which included 16 vials was only about $230 after insurance. Couldn’t tell you about the pricing on the other procedures yet.

Go into your appointment with all your cycle info, symptoms you have monthly, etc. good to be prepared and to tell him everything so you don’t forget.

My husband and I have been trying for over a year now. We have lost two, about 10 months in between. We had a workup done on both and nothing is wrong of course. I was told I’m just an unlucky healthy 28 year old. We are still having trouble getting pregnant again. We had an shg done and everything looked fine. I was put on progesterone and baby aspirin for a few months and now we are trying Femara, this month is our second on Femara. Our next step will be injections and tracking ovulation through ultrasound. Will probably do that within the next few months if we don’t get BFP.

We loved our time with Dr. Hunter! He was incredibly knowledgeable and approached our situation with patience and care...administered a few tests on me to make sure that my body was able to sustain a pregnancy. We then did a trigger shot (Ovidrel) to help with ovulation. We were so pleased that this worked and we now have a healthy and happy baby boy to celebrate!
KFI is a fantastic place and I highly recommend it to anyone who is struggling with fertility...The cost of everything was much more reasonable that I had first expected. I was overwhelmed at what I thought we would pay but it wasn't outrageous...The nursing staff was so supportive! They were so excited for my husband and I and showed lots of love and support after finding out we were pregnant

Dr. Hunter was very straightforward and gave us plenty of time for questions. He laid out the various options and explained his recommendations. I felt we were given the proper information and then it was our decision to decide the best course of action. We waited approximately 10 weeks for the initial consultation....We did a medicated IUI cycle with clomid, a trigger shot and progesterone suppositories....There was no follow up after my IUI.
Pricing information is vague and even receipts don't detail what the charges are for. Wait times [Kentucky Fertility Institute] before appointments can be long. Overall the staff is very friendly and appointments go quickly once you have been called back. I often had a hard time getting a hold of someone on the phone. No one from the office ever called to follow up after my IUI.... I saw one nurse at every appointment, and she was the best.

The nursing staff was very friendly. I saw one nurse at every appointment, and she was the best. I saw a different nurse or NP for my scans. I remember leaving the scan right before my trigger and IUI feeling overwhelmed as I was asked if I was OK with multiples (which had never been brought up before) and given advice on the best prenatal vitamins, but had been told by the doctor our odds of conceiving with IUI were less than 10%.

He [Dr. Robert Hunter] went above and beyond as a doctor and we trust him wholeheartedly. We would highly recommend him to anyone seeking fertility treatments... He is extremely knowledgeable, open-minded and is one of those rare doctors that takes time with each patient. I always felt reassured when I left the office because he took the time to answer my questions thoroughly...We were successful on our very first IVF cycle... treated me like a human, not just a patient.
We loved the staff at KFI and will always remember how much they helped us... they go above and beyond! They always answered our questions, calmed our nerves and even knew us by name when we walked in the door. When we had a complication early in our pregnancy, Carol came in early on a Sunday morning with the on-call doctor to do an ultrasound and reassure us that they baby was fine...Some of our appointments were more nerve wracking than others and they were quick to offer comforting words, hugs and hands to hold when I needed them. They were prompt in responding to questions via phone/email and very thorough with explanations of treatment plans, directions for medications, etc.
How was your experience with Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
Dr Hunter treated me like a human, not just a patient. He was understanding of our concerns and addressed all of them with patience and honesty. When I had a small reaction to the anesthesia (not the clinic’s nor Dr Hunter’s fault at all) he saw me right away and even called me at home that night to check on me. He went above and beyond as a doctor and we trust him wholeheartedly. We would highly recommend him to anyone seeking fertility treatments.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
Do your research and speak up at appointments. He is extremely knowledgeable, open-minded and is one of those rare doctors that takes time with each patient. I always felt reassured when I left the office because he took the time to answer my questions thoroughly.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
Dr Hunter was patient, kind and thorough at every appointment from the very beginning. We never felt rushed through any appointments and he always answered our questions honestly and concisely.
Describe the protocols Robert Hunter II used in your cycles at Kentucky Fertility Institute and their degree of success.
I was diagnosed with endometriosis and PCOS, but neither were so severe that they should have prevented a natural pregnancy so we were put in the “unexplained” category. Previous doctors put us through unsuccessful and possibly unnecessary treatments. Dr Hunter was honest from the very beginning and explained that IVF would be our best option, being one of the most direct approaches when battling unexplained infertility. We were successful on our very first IVF cycle.

My protocol never really changed even though I was seeing horrible results. ... I like him [Dr. Hunter] as a person and I feel he is knowledgeable but he was not the right fit for me. ... It was like I was given a cookie cutter approach that is used for everyone and there was a lot of reluctance to do something different for me. ... I think he had the best intentions for me but he was very reluctant to try anything different and when I suggested various things that I thought could possibly help me he would always say research shows that wont help, I dont think it would benefit you and so on.
The billing department [KFI] is a nightmare. HORRIBLE. I have been overbilled numerous times. The communication from billing is a joke. I was grossly underquoted a number of times then told I had to pay like 3k more than my quote before theyd allow me to continue with treatment. ... The nurse staff is fantastic though and they are so compassionate. I absolutely loved them and miss them. ...
How was your experience with Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
I like him as a person and I feel he is knowledgeable but he was not the right fit for me. I trusted that he would be able to help me so I stayed through 3 cycles. I should have left earlier. I think he had the best intentions for me but he was very reluctant to try anything different and when I suggested various things that I thought could possibly help me he would always say research shows that wont help, I dont think it would benefit you and so on. It was like I was given a cookie cutter approach that is used for everyone and there was a lot of reluctance to do something different for me.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
Ask a lot of questions.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
Dr Hunter is very respectful. He is a bit dry at times and doesnt show compassion like some of the other doctors I have seen. He is more clinical but he is very kind.
Describe the protocols Robert Hunter II used in your cycles at Kentucky Fertility Institute and their degree of success.
All three of my cycle protocols were EXACTLY the same pretty much. 150iu gonal, 150iu menopur every single cycle. The last cycle we did add HGH and ICSI and it actually was my worst cycle of all. I asked for a lower dose as I am a high responder which was met with some unwillingness to try that kind of protocol. I have retrieved about 75 eggs in my 3 cycles and have basically nothing to show for it. I was told that my eggs are of poor quality and I was given an option to try an egg donor next. I have since moved on to another RE who has told me I was overstimulated every cycle which could have made my egg quality greatly suffer and he wants my medicine cut in half. He said less eggs and higher quality is what we want. He basically disagreed with everything that Dr Hunter did for me which was very upsetting but I feel I am in the right place now.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Kentucky Fertility Institute. (Assigned nurse: Carol)
The nursing staff at KFI are wonderful though. Candy and Carol are godsends. I absolutely loved them and I miss them. I have moved on to another clinic now since KFI couldnt help me but I wish I couldve taken the nurses with me.
Describe your experience with Kentucky Fertility Institute.
The billing department is a nightmare. HORRIBLE. I have been overbilled numerous times. The communication from billing is a joke. I was grossly underquoted a number of times then told I had to pay like 3k more than my quote before theyd allow me to continue with treatment. I have had to pull ledgers and go through it with a fine tooth comb numerous times. The nurse staff is fantastic though and they are so compassionate. I absolutely loved them and miss them. There are a good number of patients who see success at KFI but I was not one of them. My protocol never really changed even though I was seeing horrible results. I have since left for another RE.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute.
This clinic is not cheap. 4500 for FET, like 13-14k for retrieval cycle not including your meds. I have since moved on to IRH where IVF cycle with fresh transfer is 8200
Describe Robert Hunter II's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Kentucky Fertility Institute.
I transferred one embryo with both of my FETs but after one failed FET I was given the option to transfer 2 on my second FET. I still chose to transfer one because I had a limited number of embryos.
What specific things went wrong at Kentucky Fertility Institute?
  • Failed to call with results
  • Provided conflicting information
  • Failed to convey critical information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Kentucky Fertility Institute.
I did not receive my fertilization report or my day 5 call on my last ivf cycle there. I waited all day for the calls and was in fear and crying thinking that all had arrested or something. I had to email the doctor late that evening to try to get an update because I was freaking out. The billing department is horrifying and there was a lot of errors and lack of communication on that end. There was unwillingness to make changes in my protocol and now that I am with a new RE I have found my protocols were not ideal at all for me. I feel like I was set up to fail with the protocol there.

Dr. Hunter is very knowledgeable and very accessible to reach for questions. He understood that I was also educated in medicine and talked to me at my level. I wanted to be conservative with treatment starting out and he was on board with the pace that I wanted to pursue treatment.... He was very accessible by phone or email to answer any questions. He asked about my work each visit, so I knew he remembered who I was. We also traveled very far and they always took that into consideration when making appointments.
The clinic [Kentucky Fertility Institute] is beautiful and newly completed. Dr Hunter and Justice have an excellent staff of nurses, financial coordinators, lab techs, etc. Angie is great about remembering you for every visit. Each room is private and clean, and not stuffy or scary.... Carol is amazing. She is so organized and as an organized person who likes every detail laid out, it was done. My medication/injection calendars were tweaked monthly, weekly, daily, and she was always on top of letting me know what I needed to be doing and coordinating my schedule on my upcoming visits.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Robert Hunter II at Kentucky Fertility Institute.
Routine labs and exams were billed to my insurance, and I paid my copays. The cost for the IVF cycle was not billed to insurance, because I did not have those benefits, and it was a package deal around 14K. The medications necessary were filled by a pharmacy in a Texas, around 7k.
Describe Robert Hunter II's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Kentucky Fertility Institute.
He did not have a strong preference of number of embryos we transferred. My husband and I knew possibility of multiples and discussed the pros and cons of transferring one or two, which two is all we had. We collected 25 eggs, 10 embryos, only 2 at day 5 blastocyst stage. FET, with one in and one frozen.
