During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Ronald Beesley at Poma Fertility?
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Dr. Beesley, and I must say that my experience with him exceeded all expectations. From the moment I walked into his clinic, I felt like I was being treated as a human being, not just another number on a chart. One of the things that stood out to me was Dr. Beeselys accessibility. He made it clear that I could reach out to him at any time if I had concerns or questions about my health. This level of responsiveness and availability is truly remarkable in the medical field, where it can often be challenging to get in touch with doctors outside of scheduled appointments. I would also like to highlight an incident that demonstrated his genuine care and willingness to go above and beyond for his patients. At the time, I was facing some unexpected challenges related to my employment at Tractor Supply. The company had announced a reduction in infertility cycles, which could have affected my ability to receive the necessary medical attention. However, Dr. Beelsey stepped in and worked with me to find a solution. Thanks to his assistance, I was able to navigate through the situation smoothly, and I didn't face any obstacles in using my medical benefits. One aspect that adds to the overall positive experience at Dr. Beelsey's clinic is the atmosphere. Despite being a smaller clinic, it emanates a warm and welcoming family vibe. The staff is friendly, approachable, and treats patients with the utmost respect and care. This sense of community makes each visit feel personal and reassuring, creating a pleasant environment for patients. In summary, I highly recommend Dr. Beelsey for his exceptional care, accessibility, and commitment to treating patients as individuals, not mere numbers. His willingness to go the extra mile, coupled with the family-like atmosphere of his clinic, truly sets him apart. If you are searching for a doctor who values your well-being and treats you with dignity, Dr. Beelsey is the perfect choice.

Dr. Beesley is an awesome, compassionate physician. I feel like he listened to my concerns and did everything possible to give me a chance of having a baby one day. He was upfront about expectations but he accommodated my schedule enormously to make IVF possible while I maintained my own clinical schedule...He has communicated well about expectations from the start but also been empathetic and supportive in a quiet and kind way. He was surprisingly accommodating
Dr. Beesley is great. I am happy with the [Poma Fertility] nursing staff as well. I think my only criticism is their online portal which has given me some difficulty, making it hard to communicate at times. They don’t answer the phone frequently so you need to go through the portal...Monitoring appointments were pretty easy. They open super early (they would let us in as soon as they arrived to work so ~6:40amish) so I could go to the appointment and get put the door and to my own clinic in time. That made it possible to do IVF — otherwise this would have been impossible.
How was your experience with Ronald Beesley at Poma Fertility?
He has communicated well about expectations from the start but also been empathetic and supportive in a quiet and kind way. He was surprisingly accommodating and made it possible to do several cycles of egg freezing as a fellow — one of my retrievals even started 30 minutes late because I was running from an emergency case in the OR. That one actually had the most eggs. He’s been strategic in advising whether to freeze eggs or embryos etc. I couldn’t imagine a better fertility doctor
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ronald Beesley at Poma Fertility?
I highly recommend him without hesitation

Describe the protocols Ronald Beesley used in your cycles at Poma Fertility and their degree of success.
I use estrace for suppression along with antagonist to prime for my cycles. I’ve required maximal doses of stimulation as a 41yo with DOR for each of my three cycles. Specifically, I used gonal/follistim 450, menopur 150, and antagonist and got good results considering my severe DOR. He was open to my third cycle being a luteal cycle, essentially a duo stim cycle so that I could squeeze in an extra retrieval. I plan two more cycles this year, one of which I’m currently on.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Poma Fertility.
Different nurses are part of the team but they all work efficiently during monitoring to make appointments quick. They help respond to emails usually within 24 hours.

Poma has fixed prices for each service so it’s easy to know prices ahead of time. Egg freezing was about 8k without meds. Embryos were about 12k to freeze at 2 cell stage. I haven’t done genetic testing

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Poma Fertility.
Not a big deal but a prescription didn’t get called in. I let them know and they sent it. It did not cause delays in my cycle. They’ve been accommodating in sending prescriptions anywhere, including pharmacies out of the country to save me money

Dr Beesley works in a team with Dr Opsahl, so if somebody decides to become a patient, they should know that. I never know who is going to perform the transfer or any other procedure, if that matters. All Poma fertility patients work with both providers...Dr Beesley is extraordinarily good at communicating with his patients. Every time I had conversation with him, he was present, calm, answered all my questions without rushing
Poma Fertility is a smaller clinic compared to the other fertility clinics in Seattle area. There are two doctors working as a team - Dr Beesley and Dr Opsahl. They work together with all patients, in other words, one cannot work exclusively with one of them. As I was going through my fertility journey with them, I have seen both equally often. They have different styles of work, but I think they are both very professional and experienced.
How was your experience with Ronald Beesley at Poma Fertility?
As I mentioned before, Dr Beesley has extraordinary communication skills. Hands down, I have never had a doctor like him! He is very kind, compassionate, and respectful and at the same time trustworthy and knowledgeable. He always took time to answer my questions thoroughly even if he was busy. Even after the unsuccessful embryo transfers during cycle reviews (that's the apt when we discuss the unsuccessful cycle and further steps), Dr Beesley somehow managed to make me feel better and optimistic. I also felt he was completely honest with me - for example, he wasn't afraid to tell me that when it comes to reproductive medicine, some questions don't have answers (yet) and further research is necessary. I have to mention that he is very gentle and skillful while performing all kinds of procedures - from simple ultrasound to biopsy and transfer. Some may say this aspect is not important as long as there are results, but as a woman I disagree. I think Dr Beesley is a rare combination of wonderful personality and professionalism.

Dr Beesley is extraordinarily good at communicating with his patients. Every time I had conversation with him, he was present, calm, answered all my questions without rushing (although sometimes he was busy, he never seemed rushed). Always very respectful, kind and professional.
Describe the protocols Ronald Beesley used in your cycles at Poma Fertility and their degree of success.
This was my Frozen Embryo Transfer Protocol - Lupron until the start of Progesterone; after Suppression check start of Estrogen injections, gradually increasing from 0,05ml to 0.25ml; Progesterone in oil 1 ml for 6 days until the day of the transfer; continuing the progesterone every day after the transfer and estrogen every third day. I didn't question or discussed the protocol with my provider, I believe that was a standard protocol for FET and I trusted Dr Beesley would make the right decision.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Poma Fertility. (Assigned nurse: Linda Alexander)
Linda is professional, experienced and intuitive. She is easy to work with. Sometimes when she is off, somebody else is covering her patients and there might be some miscommunication. I always double check everything that I receive from the nursing staff, including instructions, schedules and protocols, so I can communicate any questions that may arise and clarify anything that's not clear to me. I think as a patient I am responsible to be proactive - check, read, and understand the instructions, so there won't be any mistakes. I feel that sometimes Linda is overwhelmed with too many patients and that is the reason for some delayed replies, but these instances are just exceptions. She is very organized, explains well and in detail when asked and is an excellent nurse.

The front desk are always friendly and welcoming and they managed to go through the pandemic madness with smiles and finesse. They don't offer/work with a therapist that can help patients going through infertility treatments, as some other clinics do. That proved to be a problem for me as I needed some support and I couldn't find a single therapist with the right kind of experience that would accept new patients. It would have been nice if they have had a therapist on site or they collaborated with somebody.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Ronald Beesley at Poma Fertility.
I lost the track of the costs, I have been a patient for too long. Except for the initial screening, nothing else was covered by my insurance. Their prices are competitive, similar to SRM and less expensive than some other clinics in the area.
Describe Ronald Beesley's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Poma Fertility.
Dr Beesley strongly recommends eSET. I think that they allow 2 embryo transfers at the clinic under some circumstances and if that's the patient's desire, but I didn't discuss that with Dr Beesley as it wasn't my desire.

Dr. Beasley kept thinking about ways my partner and I could make IVF work for our situation. He called us after work while driving home to discuss options. It feels very clear that he sees us as individuals and sees our different aspects of the fertility process. He is also super queer friendly and doesn't seem put off by how different our process is than his other patients.
Very positive and supportive place [Poma Fertility]. ... They always remember us and everyone there has a great sense of humor about the work. The communication system is sometimes a little clunky, with multiple different people sometimes responding to emails, but that's my only complaint. ... She [nurse] loves working with LGBTQ couples and is able to talk you through the process without batting a eye. She has a ton of experience and is excited about reciprocal IVF.
How was your experience with Ronald Beesley at Poma Fertility?
Dr. Beasley feels like a wonderful, wacky fertility genius. He explained so many options for us. For some people, this may be too much information--he's so knowledgable, you can see the wheels spinning when he's explaining things. For us, this showed he was really holding us in his thoughts through the process.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Ronald Beesley at Poma Fertility?
Dr. Beasley will be straightforward and honest about the options, but he will also let you explore them on all on your own. He is probably best for a patient who knows something about the IVF process before walking in the door.

We haven't been billed yet. They work hard to make sure insurance is looking at all the claims before billing.
Describe Ronald Beesley's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Poma Fertility.
He is strongly on the side of single transfer, unless there are a few quality embryos to work with.

Dr. Beesley talks to you with respect and care, a bright spot in what can sometimes feel like a devaluing process...I have always found [him] to be who I am hoping to see when I have to go to the clinic because his ability to be positive and kind (without being condescending) makes each appointment a bit easier...POMA tends to be conservative in their medical practice, so don’t be afraid to ask about other options.
I feel Poma is conservative in their medical approach (which can be good!). However, I had to propose some newer treatments (peer reviewed treatments, far from experimental) and felt they should have been brought up to me as an option more proactively...feels like the nurses and back office are understaffed. Most nurses and the phlebotomy team are kind and knowledgeable, I just think they likely need more help to respond in a timely manner...clinic isn’t trying to “upsell” you on non value-add procedures or suggesting untested/unscientific methods. I have felt the team is very trustworthy and helpful.

[Dr. Ronald Beesley] was honest from the start about egg reserve/ age. But compassionate and willing to try and help me achieve my goal...hanged my protocol to adapt to my needs..ovulating early he changed my protocol and medication after the first fail. Second fail attempt I had a dominent follicule and we decided to do a duostim which resulted in more eggs.
POMA worked well with me as an outside clinic and made it feasible for me to take as little time off as possible and make my appointments either locally (outside OBGYN) or at the clinic...Tiana and the other nurses were very responsive and compassionate to my experience.
How was your experience with Ronald Beesley at Poma Fertility?
He was honest and changed my protocol to adapt to my needs. Hopefully the next round is the successful one. I had a few zoom appointments to discuss options with Dr Beesley and he met with me in person to help me understand my odds and options.

Describe the protocols Ronald Beesley used in your cycles at Poma Fertility and their degree of success.
Due to ovulating early he changed my protocol and medication after the first fail. Second fail attempt I had a dominent follicule and we decided to do a duostim which resulted in more eggs.

Tiana and the other nurses were very responsive and compassionate to my experience.
Describe your experience with Poma Fertility.
I wish the clinic was closer to my home, but that’s an issue with no local fertility clinics. POMA worked well with me as an outside clinic and made it feasible for me to take as little time off as possible and make my appointments either locally (outside OBGYN) or at the clinic
Describe the costs associated with your care under Ronald Beesley at Poma Fertility.
In comparison to other Seattle based clinics POMA was the best price but overall the process is very expensive for self pay and Alaska offers no benefits
Describe Ronald Beesley's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Poma Fertility.
