Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Jeelani gives her cell number that we can contact her when ever we have questions...is known for pushing for eggs during your stim cycle...is very kind and hardworking for her patients. It is unfortunate that she isn't my doctor for retrievals but I did end up having her for 2 out of 4 of them, which was a blessing.
p[Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)] Strength: doctor office/rooms are very clean and updated. Portal messaging is great because its 2 way communication. Staff is friendly at all the offices. Weakness..do not do egg retrievals or transfers on Sundays, so if your body is ready to go for a ER they will push you until Monday
How was your experience with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Love that Dr. Jeelani gives her cell number that we can contact her when ever we have questions. I have reached out to her numerous times and she always gets back to me and she did call me 2 different times to go over my first egg retrieval and then my plan after my last retrieval. I did have her for 2 of my ER which was amazing and she greeted me with a big hug and said lets get you your babies! but then after the retrievals she did not visit me in the recovery room. I thought it would be nice for her to stop in for 1 minute to just check in but nothing, just the recovery nurses. Dr Jeelani is known for pushing for eggs during your stim cycle, so it can be overwhelming when she wants you to keep going to see if you can get more eggs, but I always trusted her thoughts and why she would push it. I know she is rooting for me and is willing to work with me and get me my baby. She is very kind and hardworking for her patients. It is unfortunate that she isn't my doctor for retrievals but I did end up having her for 2 out of 4 of them, which was a blessing.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Let her work her magic! You have to trust her process, because she will push for every one of those eggs!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
I am very happy that Dr. Jeelani gives her patients her direct cell to text her. She alway responded to me and personally called me 2 times when I needed to talk to her. She gives you compassion and understands the struggles that you are going through. I know she sees a lot of women and she is getting busier, but she has always made time to chat with me. Having that contact with her, really makes it feel more human than just a number. Her NP Morgan, is nice but with her follow up consults, it is always so robotic and the same speech over and over. Always felt cold, rattled off the same information, went over my concerns but in a quick manner and ready to move on to the next call. That made me feel like a number during those F/U consults.
Describe the protocols Roohi Jeelani used in your cycles at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute) and their degree of success.
I remember her telling me during our consult that my first round with her was going to be the worse and then once she knew my results from that round she would change things up. My first round we did the normal meno, follistim, ganx, omni and sermorelin for egg quality- that indeed was my worst round, I ended up with 0 embryos. She then told me that ganx was suppressing my ovaries and we would no longer be using that and switching to micro dose lupron for the next round. We went right into the second round and we started off with a higher does of meno and follistim and added the MDL and omni and sermorelin for egg quality. She then lowered my meno and follistim dose around day 5 of stims. I ended up stimming for about 16 days and had my best round. 15 eggs retrieved and we got 1 normal embryo. Went right into the 3rd round and she stayed with the same protocol but kept me at higher dose of follistim and meno and we ended up having a lower number of eggs retrieved, only 11 this time but we did end up with 1 normal embryo. Went right into our 4th round again and nothing in protocol changed besides starting off high dose of meno and folli and then lower the doses. I stimmed for about 18 days and retrieved the most eggs- 16. We ended up with 3 blasts which was the most we ever had, but unfortunately all 3 came back abnormal. She said that was our best round yet because that was the most blasts we have ever gotten. We have been on a break from IVF treatments since Oct 1. I will being priming here soon to start more rounds at the start of January. I believe she will keep me on the same protocol but she is adding sermorelin to my priming protocol- testosterone cream, estrogen pills, progesterone pills and omni.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute). (Assigned nurse: Joey)
I loved my nurse Joey, he was awesome. He definitely listened to all my concerns and got back to me in a timely manner. He would call me after every monitoring visit and go over the results and then give me updates. He was the best, but then during my 3rd row he was no longer with Kindbody and I was given a different nurse but then I ended up having 3 different nurses for that 3rd and 4th round and that was super frustrating because the communication was nowhere near as great as Joey's. I am still not fully sure who my nurse is now, but I am hoping when I start back up in January that I have a primary nurse that is with me the whole time.
Describe your experience with Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
Strength: doctor office/rooms are very clean and updated. Portal messaging is great because its 2 way communication. Staff is friendly at all the offices. Weakness: They do not do egg retrievals or transfers on Sundays, so if your body is ready to go for a ER they will push you until Monday, they don't care. Not sure how a IVF clinic can be closed on Sundays. If in the suburbs you can go to the suburb offices for monitoring/bloodwork but any surgeries happen in their West Loop office. Insurance office can be hard to deal with at times and understanding all their costs can be mind-numbing. Pricing for add on services are pricey and not covered by insurance. I believe they are taking on too many clients all of sudden.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
Monitoring appts were done at a office in the suburbs, so scheduling appts were pretty easy to book. I did learn during the process to go ahead and schedule out most of my appts because I knew I would go M/W/F. I would have my appt and I would be done with bloodwork and US usually within 15-20 mins of my booked time. They were very fast and quick and I never waited more than 5 minutes to go back. US tech Sherry at the Aurora office is the best!
Describe the costs associated with your care under Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
My second round which was the first time I had gotten a blast, my costs for cryopreservation and biopsy was priced at $2,000 but then my round 3 and 4 were reduced to $1500. Dr. Jeelani lowered the cost after that first payment. She did recommend that I do zymot and calcium ionophore, which were add on services that costed $300 and $400 so $700 was due at the time of egg retrieval. I did this all 4 rounds. Everything else, bloodwork/US, 4 Egg retrievals and anesthesia were all covered by my insurance.
Describe Roohi Jeelani's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
I have not transferred embryos with Dr J yet. But I do believe she would only let me transfer a single embryo because of my egg and I am ok with that.
What specific things went wrong at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
During one of my rounds, my primary nurse Joey was off that day and I was in need of getting my stim meds ordered and they were not at my pharmacy. I had emailed in portal and called the office but the covering nurse never got back to me. When Joey got back the next day he quickly took care of it for me. It seems that the covering nurses can't handle the other nurses that are out of the office that day their workload. I am not sure why nurses have 1 day off during a M-F work week there.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
She [Dr. Jeelani] gave me her cell and was responsive. She spoke with hope, care, and truth. She worked with me and took my own research seriously, and never laughed at any strange research or testing I did... She explained the pros and cons of different protocols and why each might or might not work for me...If you want a doctor to listen to you and not laugh in your face when you bring up non traditional research or testing then she’s your doctor.are on a schedule but she did my transfer and she made it a beautiful experience and let me video it all. She is always speaking at events in the infertility community and she takes her patients to heart. She really cares.
I had a few primary nurses [at Vios Fertility Institute] and they were great. If I had questions they would respond quickly and I always had when I needed to know in time for any treatments. They were always sensitive and helpful. There were no nurses who were rude or mean...The good thing is they will draw blood for my immunologist and let me take the vials with me to ship which is extremely convenient because most places won’t do that for you.
How was your experience with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Dr. Jeelani is active on Instagram and shared her own story of infertility as well as educational information. She was available via cell every time I freaked out about something or had a question. She admits if she doesn’t have experience in crazy research I brought to her about hidden infection testing in Greece, and she supported me in my Mercier Therapy and Reproductive Immunology treatments. She explained the pros and cons of different protocols and why each might or might not work for me. She only did what I was comfortable with. She didn’t do my retrievals since the doctors are on a schedule but she did my transfer and she made it a beautiful experience and let me video it all. She is always speaking at events in the infertility community and she takes her patients to heart. She really cares.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
If you want a doctor to listen to you and not laugh in your face when you bring up non traditional research or testing then she’s your doctor. She’s accessible when you have questions and she truly wants what’s best for you. She won’t give up on you if you’re older. She feels there might still be hope with my own eggs and didn’t jump to donor egg unless we have it a good try with mine. She’s a very smart doctor and very kind too.

Describe the protocols Roohi Jeelani used in your cycles at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute) and their degree of success.
First retrieval we started with 300u follistim, 150u menopur with 10000HCG trigger. I was not at risk for OHSS. I got 12 eggs, 11 mature, 7 fertilized, 2 blasts. Both were PGS abnormal. Retrieval 2 we started with the same but upped follistim to 400u and added omnitrope .25u for 8 days. I was also on lovenox 40mg per my reproductive immunologist. We got 17 eggs, 12 mature, 8 fertilized, 5 blasts which we did not test. We transferred two and I got pregnant but miscarried at 8 weeks due to chromosomal abnormality. Retrieval 3 we started the same as 2, but added 225 menopure. Ended up with 12 eggs, 9 mature, 2 fertilized, 0 blasts. Retrieval 4 we started the same, upper menopure to 225 for a few days then went back down and upper follistim to 400. Got 12 eggs, 11 mature, 6 fertilized, 1 blast. We currently have 4 untested blasts frozen and 2 abnormal blasts frozen. Retrieval 5 will start with 400u follistim, 150 menopure, .25 omnitrope for the entire Stim cycle not just 8 days, and still lovenox. I responded worse as time went by but my first retrieval was age 42 and 4th was age 43. We talked about many protocols but she was always open to discussing them and how and why. My frozen transfer (FET) I mentioned earlier we used estrogen patches and pills orally and vaginally as well as PIO (progesterone in oil) injections, prometrium oral pills, and endometrin suppositories. My lining got to 11.64 for the transfer and it did get me pregnant but it ended due to 2 chromosome abnormalities (trisomy 18, monosomy 3).

Describe your experience with Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
The lab was willing to do PICSI and Zymot for helping reduce sperm DNA fragmentation. The billing is weird. Sometimes I’ll owe a bill. Then a few weeks later I don’t owe that bill anymore. It is very hard to get an itemized bill for FSA or HSA purposes. They usually have to send emails to billing them maybe I’ll get a response in a few weeks if I follow up. Billing is always different every office of Vios I go to, but once I do talk to billing by phone they explain everything. But it’s hard to get things in writing. Just keep track of your appts, procedures, and which office (there are 4 in Chicagoland area I went to) so you will know what might be missing or wrong. They take BCBS PPO and HMO. Scheduling is pretty easy usually. I can usually get in by 7 or 745 to get to work by 830 or 9 for my monitoring. My saline ultrasound was painless. The ultrasound tech in Hoffman Estates has a notebook for patients to share inspiration and hope with each other. IVF procedures and surgeries are not done in Chicago suburbs or Wicker Park, only in West Loop.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
Earliest appt was 6:45am and latest was about 8:30. I usually could get in at 7am or 7:30 to get to work by 8 or 8:30. They had a few offices in Chicagoland. I sometimes went to Glenview since it was near my work and other times I went to Hoffman Estates since it was near my house. Saline ultrasounds were usually around 11:30-1:30pm and if you were pregnant, those early ultrasounds were around 10:30am. If I realized I needed bloodwork and I didn’t have an Appt they could usually squeeze me in if I just walked in. But usually I had an appointment.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
Insurance took about $8000 per retrieval and 2500 per transfer. Ultrasounds were $445 before insurance. PICSI was $800. Zymot was $350. Freezing embryos was $700. PGT including biopsy and freezing was $6700 but next round of PGT would’ve been $2200. Any additional PGT testing was that fee plus $350 per embryo over 6.

They lost my AMH results twice. Like the my took my blood and all test results came back except AMH. Finally a third time I got the result. This was not urgent but it was annoying. The good thing is they will draw blood for my immunologist and let me take the vials with me to ship which is extremely convenient because most places won’t do that for you.

Dr Jeelani provided statistics and overall risk/benefit to treatment. I would like to use my own eggs and she was supportive of that which is extremely important for me in my journey. She followed up after procedures to deliver news herself that wasn’t always positive but it was really helpful to hear it from her directly. I appreciated the ability of Dr Jeelani to adjust protocols...Dr Jeelani follows up post retrieval.
[Kindbody - Chicago] Strengths include quick turn around time after consultation as well as availability in the mornings for monitoring appointments. I never had to wait or had late appointments. Ultrasound, blood work and front desk staff are all great. The location was convenient for me in terms of travel. I did not have issues when needing weekend monitoring either...All communication from nursing has been overall positive.

After consult, I was told my husband needed an RX referral. He did not after calling my HMO for clarification. The clinic told me otherwise. It was fixed but I had to follow up. Medications were occasionally not ordered the first time as I needed HMO approval. There For weekend calls- there was a miscommunication on one cycle with meds.

Dr. J is sweet and caring. However, it is challenging building a rapport with someone you've met in passing. I actually saw Dr. J once while having a procedure performed. Although she didn't perform the egg retrieval, she introduced herself. I've only spoken to her via zoom and on the phone. Her partners performed the majority of my procedures. She was nice, but I do miss the one on one in person contact.

I used testosterone priming and estradiol pills. The Omnitrope was used for the majority of my priming and stimulation. I utilized Follistim, Menopur, Ganirelex for stims. I used HCG for trigger. In addition, I had a bowel prep and took Indomethacin prior to Retrievals.

Unfortunately, the clinic appears to be money hungry. Prior to doing anything, they requested $3800. This I learned did not go towards my deductible or towards my out of pocket cost. In addition, I ovulated prior to an egg Retrieval and was informed it would not count. They indeed counted it as a Retrieval and billed the insurance. Instead of have 4 egg Retrievals, I only had 3. It was challenging getting an accounts receivable person to talk to, but when I did she answered my questions.

My initial (virtual) consultation started a bit later than scheduled...although it did start a bit later, I didn't feel rushed. I felt that [Dr. Roohi Jeelani] was attentive and present...gave you the option to choose if additional supplements would benefit the process...understood that there's always a price tag...that was good because I didn't feel like I was obligated to do it, if it wasn't financially possible...also, helped with coupons and the best sources to purchase from...
I love that the clinics [Vios Fertility Institute] were in different areas of Chicago. I work remotely, so it was a relief to be able to schedule my appointments based off where I was working..[nurses] always greeted you by your name...had to wait in our vehicles for a text or a call to enter and so there was a lot more communication outside of the face to face. We always had something to talk about. They're positive people and makes you happy that you are in their care.

Dr. Jeelani comes highly recommended. I did my fair share of research prior to and I knew immediately I wanted her to help me. My initial (virtual) consultation started a bit later than scheduled, as she was consulting with another patient. and although it did start a bit later, I didn't feel rushed. I felt that she was attentive and present and listening to my journey alone. She assured me that I wasn't alone and instilled hope. She performed a hysteroscopy as well as my last transfer.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Trust the process. Know that you will be in good hands. Ask any and all the questions you have, because you will need that peace of mind. Know that she's cheering for you too!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Working Dr. Jeelani, I had/have always felt that she treated me like a human. Dr. Jeelani would personally respond to any and all my weird, repetitive, and abundant questions I had along the way. She's very personable and really understands the journey as she is going thru the process herself. She "gets" it. She has a gentle voice. She's very smart and I feel really takes into consideration YOUR situation and adjusts the accordingly. What I mean by that is, it's not a cookie cutter kinda thing. I trust her and her process.
Describe the protocols Roohi Jeelani used in your cycles at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute) and their degree of success.
Initially, I thought the process would be retrieval and go time. But Dr. Jeelani explained that we should go through the retrieval process once more in order to obtain the best quality eggs to better reach the family size, we desired. So we went through 2.5 rounds of the retrieval process. Shots, labs, patches - the whole 9 yards. Seeing the results of the first run, adjustments we made to hopefully made the next ones even better. round 2 of the retrieval process, however, didn't produce the number of follicles we hoped for, and with a lot of back and forth and for the sake of my coverage (I knew I wouldn't have enough to cover another retrieval round if i went forward), so I had decided to cancel that round and start the cycle over again. The 3rd cycle was much more promising. Dr. Jeelani always gave you the option to choose if additional supplements would benefit the process, btu she also understood that there's always a price tag - so that was good because I didn't feel like I was obligated to do it, if it wasn't financially possible. She also, helped with coupons and the best sources to purchase from.Omnitrope was a REALLY expensive one used along the way, but somehow we managed to include that in my adjusted protocol. my thyroid medication was monitored and adjusted accordingly.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
They always greeted you by your name. Due to our current climate, we had to wait in our vehicles for a text or a call to enter and so there was a lot more communication outside of the face to face. We always had something to talk about. They're positive people and makes you happy that you are in their care.
Describe your experience with Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
I love that the clinics were in different areas of Chicago. I work remotely, so it was a relief to be able to schedule my appointments based off where I was working or however it fit best into my schedule. Clinics are clean, there's always water, coffee, tea, juice and even snacks available as you wait. Bathrooms were always stocked with toilet paper, wipes and your sanitary needs.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
Monitoring appointments we very well organized. Especially with having to social distant. We would arrive at our scheduled time, wait in our car for the cue to enter, they would record your temp and vitals and take you right into labs ro your ultrasound. Almost always it was you and the staff and occasionally walk passed one other patient in transition of rooms. but everything was super fast and easy.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
At first I had continued coverage through Cobra from my last place of employment. That allowed me to start my fertility journey through IVF. My coverage was actually really great - I had no deductible and the majority of my medication was covered, except from omnitrope and any additional recommended supplements. BUT my monthly premiums were $725 - that was really hefty for me. I've recently, changed over to the marketplace plan due to exhausting my benefits with my previous insurance and it's a struggle. Paying a much lower premium of $431, I have a $6700 deductible, but from what I was informed, would be fulfilled after one round of meds as those can cost anywhere from $15 - 22K. I don't remember the exact numbers but the cost of the retrieval is the more costly part of the process. Embryo storage is about $750 annually after the first year and a Transfer cycle is about $5K, if i recall properly.
Describe Roohi Jeelani's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
Yes, it came highly recommended that we transfer one embryo at a time due to the health risks that would come with it. I'm nearing my forties and we didn't want to take the risks over the "faster chance" of growing our family instantaneously.

I had very little interaction with Dr. Jeelani. My initial consult and treatment planning appointment were done with her, but via Zoom. She was not present for any of my actual appointments, including the IUI itself. I spoke with her on the phone when I felt that my case wasn't being managed properly. At that point, I found her to be defensive and evasive. She wasn't able to provide satisfactory explanations about some of the clinic's policies and some of her clinical decisions. As a result, I didn't feel confident that I was getting good care...
At Vios in general, it always felt like they were pushing for quantity (of patients) over quality (treatment). I never felt like any of the medical staff took the time to be thorough about managing my particular case...It was very difficult to get ahold of anyone or get anyone to call you back. There was little consistency in who you were communicating with. I genuinely felt that I had to be on-guard at all times to make sure that I got safe medical care- I didn't trust the team not to make major errors when it came to medications and procedures...
How was your experience with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Because of the way Vios manages their cases, I had very little interaction with Dr. Jeelani. My initial consult and treatment planning appointment were done with her, but via Zoom. What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
If you choose to proceed with treatment with Dr. Jeelani, you should be prepared to do your own research about absolutely everything and be prepared to advocate strongly for yourself.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Although Dr. Jeelani's communication style was reasonably warm and was clearly intended to make you feel comfortable, her poor management of my actual medical situation ended up making me feel like a number. At Vios in general, it always felt like they were pushing for quantity (of patients) over quality (treatment). I never felt like any of the medical staff took the time to be thorough about managing my particular case.
Describe the protocols Roohi Jeelani used in your cycles at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute) and their degree of success.
As a prospective single mom by choice with no known fertility issues, I wanted to begin with IUI, despite Dr. Jeelani's push for IVF. I went through the complex process of having known-donor sperm frozen at Vios for use in IUI. In hindsight, I believe that they basically prepared those specimens for IVF despite my plan to do IUI, rendering them basically unsuitable for IUI. I took Clomid leading up to the IUI, and I'm not sure that the clinic followed reasonable protocols to make sure that I didn't have too many mature follicles going into the IUI. I also believe that they scheduled the IUI too soon after my trigger shot. They don't do a preliminary ultrasound to make sure that they are getting the timing right. They proceeded with the IUI despite the thawed sperm sample being very poor, and weren't forthcoming about the fact that my chances of success were very low as a result.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
At Vios, you are technically assigned a "primary nurse". But you rarely end up actually hearing from them. I was contacted by so many different staff that I never had a clue who I was talking to. The nursing team didn't communicate well internally, leading to miscommunications with me. On multiple occasions, I got conflicting information from different staff about important details, like medication dosage or timing.
Describe your experience with Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
Overall, I had a very poor experience at Vios. There is a major lack of organization, communication, empathy, and genuine effort to understand your specific case and provide optimal care that is tailored to your situation.
What specific things went wrong at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
  • Lost paperwork
  • Failed to call with results
  • Failed to send your chart to another clinic
  • Failed to inform you of changes in protocol
  • Provided conflicting information

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
There were a multitude of problems. Problems every step of the way. Managing my own care felt like a full-time job. It was very difficult to get ahold of anyone or get anyone to call you back. There was little consistency in who you were communicating with. I genuinely felt that I had to be on-guard at all times to make sure that I got safe medical care- I didn't trust the team not to make major errors when it came to medications and procedures.

[Dr. Jeelani] has been through this as a patient and often talks about how that has informed her practice. You will notice the difference...She gave me her personal cell number so I could call or text with questions or concerns. While I didn’t actually see her often, I always knew she was available...does not have you on a standard protocol and is willing to think outside of the box
Overall, I was really pleased with Vios. I had my first consult in the week when everything started to close because of COVID-19. I had some trouble with communication and lost paperwork, but that could have been because they were transitioning their way of working. This clinic can be somewhat inconsistent in answering the phone, I find that messaging in the portal is a more effective way of communicating.
How was your experience with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Dr Jeelani is extremely passionate and committed to her work. She very thoroughly explained everything I could expect at our consuls and patiently answered all of my questions. She has been through this as a patient and often talks about how that has informed her practice. You will notice the difference. I never felt dismissed, talked down to, or ignored in Dr Jeelani’s care. She gave me her personal cell number so I could call or text with questions or concerns. While I didn’t actually see her often, I always knew she was available. She even reached out to me a few times just to see how I was handling bad news or a recent procedure she wasn’t able to perform.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Trust her and trust the process. If you have questions about a decision she had made, don’t be afraid to ask. She does not have you on a standard protocol and is willing to think outside of the box—so if something seems different than you expected it’s probably because she put a lot of thought into it!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
I received all of my care with Vios during COVID, starting with my consult in March 20, 2020. In spite of the chaos of the clinic adapting, I came to know the staff who did my monitoring and my assigned nurse well. When I had setbacks, Dr Jeelani would call and/or text me, even after her work day was done, to make sure I understood what had happened and what my next steps were. Once, I had an FET monitoring appointment that wasn’t going well and the person who did my ultrasound sent a text to Dr Jeelani while I was still on the table to make sure she looked at my scans quickly! And she did! Any clinic is busy, but I felt like they treated me as an individual and I felt like everyone was rooting for me.
Describe the protocols Roohi Jeelani used in your cycles at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute) and their degree of success.
For retrieval, we used the antagonist protocol. I used follistim, menopur, and a dual trigger of HCH and lupron. I have PCOS so she kept doses very low as long as possible to reduce the risk of OHSS. Dr Jeelani also planned for a freeze all cycle to reduce OHSS risk. I have anovulatory PCOS so I started stims on CD30. The low doses and late start meant I stimmed a bit longer than we than expected. I had 30 eggs retrieved, 15 fertilize with ICSI, and 9 freezable blasts (5 day 5, 4 day 6). I did end up developing mild OHSS that was treated with watchful waiting, sodium, and electrolytes. For FET, I started with standard lupron and estradiol pills and patches. I had a bad response to lupron and Dr Jeelani took me off of it. Unfortunately, over three FET attempts we determined that my body did not respond well to synthetic estrogen as I would develop fluid and poor lining. Each of these FETs were cancelled. For my successful FET we used a very low dose stims protocol with 5 days of letrozole, 5 days of follistim, and an HCG trigger. I did not develop OHSS on this protocol. In my cancelled cycles, Dr Jeelani also determined that I have a persistently thin lining. With the mini-stim protocol my lining was trilaminar and 6mm. She explained that I had a slightly lower chance of success but that she felt it was okay to proceed because I had so many embryos. Ultimately, she made clear that it was my choice. I used three forms of progesterone because I’d had a previous miscarriage. I became pregnant on that cycle!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute). (Assigned nurse: Alexis)
Alexis was wonderful!!! She was always quick to call with results and next steps, she listened to all of my questions, and promptly responded when I had questions. When I reached out with concerns she always took them seriously.

My testing and treatment were largely covered by my insurance. For IVF and FET, including medications and accupuncture, my husband and I estimate we sent less than $7000 out of pocket.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
I had lost paperwork when I first started as a patient and a lost appointment for my husband’s semen analysis. This occurred in the week when the clinic moved from business as regular to partial remote work as a result of COVID19, so it’s possible that caused the issue. I did not have any issues after that.

How was your experience with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
When I met Dr Jeelani I was feeling very defeated. I had an ectopic, a blighted ovum, 2 early miscarriages and 1 13 week miscarriage which required a D&C. From the day I met her to this day I have felt nothing but thankful to have met this woman. She is knowledgeable, and kind. She explains things thoroughly even when I know she probably doesn’t have the time to. She is truly an incredible Dr who goes above and beyond every single time.

I understand that’s difficult to deal with, but I also knew that when I was with Dr Jeelani she took extra time to answer unexpected questions. Once you’re in the room you don’t feel rushed even though there are 10 people waiting. Don’t let waiting be a deal breaker for you- she is worth the wait.

Dr. Jeelani seems to really genuinely care about her patients and their experience. We haven't completed treatment yet but I've just felt like she's on our team the whole way through. She is patient and kind and has been through the IVF process herself. ... Dr. Jeelani has spent a ton of time with my husband and I to help ensure that all of our questions were answered and that we are comfortable with our plan.
We had a bad experience where I had a surgery scheduled for a fibroid removal and the office lost track of the scheduling of it somehow, so I was ready to go for a surgery and wasn't able to have it. That was really upsetting. ... The clinic [VIOS] has pretty convenient hours (appts start as early as 6:30 am) which I like because I can go in before work. The front desk staff sometimes isn't as friendly as I would like, but on the whole they are fine.

She even offered to come into the office and draw her blood for me herself after hours because of my travel schedule to make sure I was ready for the next cycle. I think the mistake with my surgery was probably just a fluke mistake and is not an overall area of concern for the clinic. I would recommend Vios highly to another patient.

BCBS has informed us IVF treatment is an eligible benefit under your plan, they state services should be covered at 80% leaving you with a 20% co-insurance and they show your deductible has not been satisfied for 2019, you have $194.98 remaining. Per BCBS, your plan confirm you have 4 Visits, Per-Calendar year. Vios is reimbursed approximately $8000 per IVF procedure, we expect your treatment to be covered at 80%, you will owe your 20% co-insurance. We estimate you will owe your remaining Out Of Pocket Max which is $1,119, apart from your unmet deductible balance of $194.98. I feel that will exhaust once medication is ordered and that is why I will not ask for a deposit. Once BCBS has processed your claims, you should receive an EOB (explanation of benefits), outlining what they covered and if you will be responsible for any additional amount above the deposit due to VIOS, an invoice will be sent to you for payment. Please be aware that embryo cryopreservation is a non-covered service by BCBS, the $1300 fee will be patient responsibility once services are completed. If you’re considering PGS (officially called PGT), an elective service not covered by BCBS, you will owe VIOS $4400 for the PGT related service. The fee covers the Biopsy of embryos, Lab management, shipping of cells and embryo cryopreservation. The Genetic lab will charge you separately for the actual PGT exam, they charge approximately $200 per embryo. If you complete PGT services with multiple IVF cycles, expect to owe VIOS $4400 per IVF round, the Genetic lab will continue to charge you a per embryo fee. Embryo Options handles all the annual storage billing for VIOS, they will send you a notification once you are reaching the year and will confirm the $600 storage charge is to be applied to the card on file. You can reach them at www.Embryooptions.com If PGT isn’t completed but embryo freezing takes place, the $1300 cryopreservation fee will still apply. We require a credit card authorization form on file and will charge the $1300 freezing fee once embryos are frozen, the form can filled out at time of service. The freezing fee will apply regardless of the number of embryos frozen or the length embryos remain frozen in storage. VIOS doesn’t charge an up front for annual storage, the fee will apply one year after initial freezing if embryos are still in storage at the time. Embryo annual storage is $600. The following services are elective and are at additional cost; sperm freezing = $500, annual storage is $500. Zymot (Sperm Processing) $400.

There are many decisions I've had to make in this process (i.e. moving from IUI to IVF, PGS or no PGS, D&C vs Misoprostel, Single vs. Double Embryo Transfer, etc). For each decision, Dr. Jeelani patiently explained all the details and was willing to follow my lead when I had intuition to lean one way vs the other (i.e. number of embryos to transfer, Lupron or none for FET). I always felt like Dr. Jeelani was willing to pursue the treatment course that medically made sense AND was the right course for me specifically.
[The nurses at Vios Fertility Institute] Very compassionate, very accessible, very willing to communicate... Never felt like a 'cattle call'...lol, but I was in and out pretty quickly. The technicians always asked if I'd like to consult with a nurse before I left. I didn't often take them up, but appreciated the offer...The clinic overall is great. I LOVE their Mocktail Drug Mixing nights! Billing....was sort of a pain sometimes, but not because of the staff entirely. Part of it is just the way the cookie crumbles when trying to get insurance to pay for a chronic illness.
How was your experience with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Strengths: --Clear Communicator: As I've outlined before, I thought that Dr. Jeelani did an excellent job of helping me to understand the results of my baseline fertility tests, the processes of both the IUI, and IVF processes, and the decisions to be made around my miscarriage. Just in terms of being able to communicate complicated medical information to a layperson, I think Dr. Jeelani is exceptionally skilled. --Excellent Bedside Manner: Warm, compassionate, and appropriately optimistic and humorous. In every interaction I've had with her. --Very Transparent About Treatment Decisions and Willing to Pivot: Weaknesses: There are many decisions I've had to make in this process (i.e. moving from IUI to IVF, PGS or no PGS, D&C vs Misoprostel, Single vs. Weaknesses: --NONE: To the extent that one could be said to enjoy a process as expensive and emotionally arduous as fertility treatment, I have enjoyed being Dr. Jeelani's patient.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Don't be afraid to ask questions or indicate your preferences. Dr. Jeelani will listen and give you candid, clear information.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Dr. Jeelani was always well-updated on my case notes and there was a lot of continuity to our conversations even when they were 3 or weeks between the conversations. I didn't find myself having to repeat any details about my feelings or goals about the treatments. Dr. Jeelani also has a communication style that expertly blends combines personal warmth with professional clarity and directness. This means that I always know exactly what the relevant factors are in the decision at hand AND I always feel that Dr. Jeelani actually cares about the outcome. I especially appreciated this after I had my first miscarriage.
Describe the protocols Roohi Jeelani used in your cycles at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute) and their degree of success.
We used Antagonist Protocol for the stimulation phase of my Freeze-all IVF cycle. We didn't discuss the why of antagonist vs agonist protocol, but here was my profile at the time: 38 y.o, unexplained infertility, history of fibroids (removed via myomectomy prior to beginning treatment**), AMH and FSH indicate relatively high ovarian reserve for age group. Dr. Jeelani explained that she wanted to do a freeze-all cycle with me because that would give her time to prep my uterine lining better for implantation without any complications from the ovarian stimulation. In her words, it was easier to work with one organ at a time. We froze five (5) day-5 AB blastocysts from that retrieval. We did the FET and acheived clinical pregnancy, but I miscarried at 8 weeks. That frozen cycle was also an elective-Single Embryo transfer. I hadn't PGS tested my embryos because of the cost---$5K and had strongly expressed to Dr. Jeelani that I did NOT want a multiple pregnancy so we were cautious. Medication List: For stimulation: We started with Menopur (150 IU), Gonal-F (300 IU), along with an antibiotic and a steroid for immuno suppression. I declined to take the steroid. We did Cetritide for the antagonist and HCG for the trigger shot. Don't remember the dosage. For FET: birth control and Lupron for suppression estrogen inserts and patches to fluff the lining progesterone shots, inserts, and oral pills to make the lining sticky **Dr. Jeelani also snipped some remaining scar tissue for me via hysteroscopy before I began treatment
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
Very compassionate, very accessible, very willing to communicate. There sometimes wasn't a lot of continuity in terms of some of the details (i.e. pharmacy location or my insurance doesn't cover THAT birth control), but I never had an issue that wasn't fixed promptly and with aplomb.
Describe your experience with Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
The clinic overall is great. I LOVE their Mocktail Drug Mixing nights! Billing....was sort of a pain sometimes, but not because of the staff entirely. Part of it is just the way the cookie crumbles when trying to get insurance to pay for a chronic illness.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
I only scheduled my appointments for first thing in the morning and never had a problem. Never felt like a 'cattle call'...lol, but I was in and out pretty quickly. The technicians always asked if I'd like to consult with a nurse before I left. I didn't often take them up, but appreciated the offer.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
My insurance covered a lot of my treatment including testing and labs and various monitoring fees, but here are a few highlights: IVF Meds: around $1200 for one cycle (insurance covered part) ICSI: $500 (insurance didn't cover because I used donor sperm) Assisted Hatching: $500/per hatch, if you are doing frozen be aware that they assist-hatch once before freezing and once after, so you pay $500 at freeze and $500 for each transfer if your insurance doesn't cover Anesthesia for Retrieval: don't remember cost but it was negligible FET Meds: about $400/cycle (insurance covered part)
Describe Roohi Jeelani's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
Dr. Jeelani wanted to start with a single because of how I had responded to the stimulation and because of the lack of genetic testing. I agreed because I did not want a multiple pregnancy. Dr. Jeelani has advised me that the risk of multiple pregnancies greatly decreases with age, but it just isn't a chance that I'm willing to take. I'd rather spend the extra money to do single-embryo transfers.

I thought Dr Jeelani was a great doctor who was well versed in the medical literature and wanted us to know our odds of success with each treatment. I felt like she would work with me to help me understand my care and adjustment my treatment when I was concerned about the planned course. She always seemed rushed in our visits and I often felt like I gained more from talking to the nurses than to her, but I think that's just the reality of a lot of fertility clinics and I never felt like I got competing information from the nurses/doctor, just spent a lot of time being told the same thing by different people. ...

In general, I thought Dr Jeelani was a great doctor who was well versed in the medical literature and wanted us to know our odds of success with each treatment.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - St. Louis?
Have your questions prepared and don't be afraid to ask if you are looking for something different than the standard course of care.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - St. Louis?
I always felt like my medical care would be tailored to my needs -- it wasn't uncommon for me to ask questions and have them make adjustments based on my goals and medical history. Most of the nurses and techs are really sweet and personable.
Describe the protocols Roohi Jeelani used in your cycles at Kindbody - St. Louis and their degree of success.
For IUIs, we used letrozole, 5 mg. For egg retrieval, we did a low dose antagonist protocol without bcp prior. My dose changed midway, but we started at 75 FSH/ 75 Menopur. The goal was to get us enough eggs to be likely to get to transfer, but without putting me at risk for OHSS, as that was my primary concern. Initially, she had wanted to start me higher and do a freeze all cycle, but since I was hoping for a fresh transfer (which was ultimately cancelled), we reduced the dose. I ultimately produced 11 eggs (8 mature) which resulted in 4 frozen embryos, which should be enough for our family building goals.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Kindbody - St. Louis.
I loved most of the nursing staff. There was one nurse who I greatly disliked, and a few towards the end who were very young and inexperienced, but by and large the nurses were kind, knowledgeable and attentive. You regularly see nurses at every visit and they'll give you a provisional game plan until your next appointment. I appreciated having that regular opportunity to ask questions and prepare for what was next. When there were changes based on results/doctor's review, they always called to give you an update. They also were very compassionate.
Describe your experience with Kindbody - St. Louis.
Strength: the medical team and the personalized level of care. Weakness: billing. As much as I love my care at Vios, I am concerning moving to a different clinic for additional transfers as I am routinely billed the wrong amount, rebilled for items already paid for, and will have billing codes for procedures I did not undergo. I've always been able to get it sorted out, but not without hours of phone calls and emails spanning several weeks. Their policy is that payment is due before an appointment, so I've been repeatedly asked to make a payment that I know I don't owe. This results in a detailed discussion about my bills in front of a crowded waiting room. I know from my experience there, I'm not the only one who has had this problem, as I've heard several other women refusing to pay a balance because they know they don't owe it. Additionally, there can be long wait times for appointments. They have set appointment times, but do not follow them and overbook people. It is not uncommon during a week that they are IVF cycling to wait more than hour past your appointment slot. They also have a policy to only allow OB ultrasounds from 10-noon, making it so partners are unable to be there for these appointments, which are some of the most important for couples to both be at. There is no flexibility in this, even when they are not busy.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - St. Louis.
My insurance largely covered my care. From looking at bills, they do charge more than the other clinics I had previously received care from. I know they charge $6,000 for PGS testing, which is why we ultimately didn't pursue it.
Describe Roohi Jeelani's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Kindbody - St. Louis.
In early consultations, the doctor said that I could transfer 2 if I made a strong push but that they would greatly prefer a single embryo transfer with my medical history. I ultimately agreed with them, and as we moved towards transfer, there was no discussion of transferring more than 1. I was happy with that decision, but if someone was set on multiple transfers, they may have a harder time making that happen.
What specific things went wrong at Kindbody - St. Louis?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
  • Lost paperwork
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Kindbody - St. Louis.
They've lost paperwork I've given them a few times. This was particularly problematic with my carrier screening, as they insisted I do it again at a great cost despite me giving them a copy of my results 3 times. I've had prescriptions not sent in when they said they would and in one case, the wrong one ultimately sent. I've also gotten consents for a procedure minutes before a time-sensitive procedure was set to start. That issue was addressed and I believe they resolved the glitch that caused that to happen. My biggest issue has been with billing who is often unresponsive and cannot tell you how your payments have been applied. Prior to our IVF cycle, it took 2 weeks of asking, daily phone calls and finally a threat to leave the clinic before someone would tell me the cost of my procedure. Since then, I've had many issues with being billed incorrect procedure codes, asked to repay for balances already paid, and a failure to credit my insurance's payments to my account.

She's candid, but kind. She [Dr. Roohi Jeelani] is always willing to go the extra mile to make me feel comfortable. This is especially important because I have anxiety and the procedures I've had are very hard to go through.... Gonal-f and menopur. We added HGH to get better quality eggs on the second retrieval. We tried an estrogen priming protocol for an FET that got canceled. We adjusted doses and tried again, but that was canceled. We then tried FSH instead and were able to proceed with a transfer, though unsuccessfully.
The facilities [VIOS Fertility-Chicago] are great. Only downside is the lab is in downtown Chicago, which means you have to deal with traffic and parking for retrievals and transfers. However it's not that bad to find parking... Everyone has been great so far. They are all very nice and compassionate. They are also willing to go the extra mile when issues come up, especially with medicine and pharmacy stuff

The first meeting we had she had reviewed everything from our previous clinic. Not only is she incredibly informative, she lets us make our own decisions on what direction we want to try. She likes to give us the information we need, but leaves it open to our wants and desires. In addition, she has incredible empathy for our journey thus far and has always approached us with compassion.

I would say Dr. Jeelani can be a sweet and soft spoken person. I was pleased with the fact that I did have a personal number on hand in case of an emergency. However, if you are looking for a very personable Dr. and someone who is genuinly compassionate about your process you wont get that. It's more of a business relationship and when you understand that up front you won't feel as dissapointed along the way.
It was impersonal each time we were there [at Vios Fertility Institute]...Each time we entered the clinic we did not feel very welcomed or compassion from the ladies behind the desk...We do understand that the Doctors are stretched thin due to having several patients to care for at once and we can't expect to interact with them 100% of the time. However, we felt the team of Nurses and desk staff did not always offer that genuine concern, consideration, and compassion during the process as we expected they should.
How was your experience with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
Dr. Jeelani is one of the newer doctor's at the clinic. Initially, during the initial consultation with her we felt it was rushed. Before meeting with the Doctor you and your spouse are required to fill out a long questionnaire containing important information needed for your meeting. I also provided the clinic with my Donors DNA expanded screening results to discuss with the Dr. during our consultation. The day of the consultation Dr. Jeelani did not seem prepared for our meeting. She did not have the electronic forms that were filled out prior to us meeting nor did she have the Donor results to discuss. She said it was not an issue and basically spent most of the time asking me and my wife all of the questions that we filled out via their portal. Dr. Jeelani was straight forward in our meeting. We felt she gave an explanation of things if questions were asked, however, if they were not, anything extra and important wasn't offered. It could be that most of our time was spent with her documenting all of our answers for their questionnaire that we had previously filled out. Being a New patient and not having much background or experience with Fertility Clinics we did not know the types of questions to ask and felt the conversation could have been guided a bit more by the Dr. When the process of my IUI began I was informed by Dr. Jeelani that I had PCOS. I was not aware of what PCOS actually was at the time and how it could affect my pregnancy. Dr. Jeelani never explained what it was in detail, nor did she make it seem it would be a problem throughout my process. Therefore, I trusted in that and did not see it as a major factor. It was recommended that I start my 1st process by taking Clomid, Ovidrel trigger shot right before insemination, and Endometrin after Insemination. I did have to go to my general doctor to get my bloodwork done and tested for sexual diseases and CMV. I was also advised of getting the same expanded DNA testing as my donor at the time. My spouse and I asked about tracking my ovulation and were told we could on our own, however, it wasn't necessary due to the way the timing worked with the fertility drugs. After my clomid I was told I'd be monitored and would be informed when it was a good time to take my trigger shot (Ovidrel). I decided to track my ovulation on my own before coming in for my schedueled monitoring due to hearing other women having had success doing so. The day of my schedueled monitoring Dr. Jeelani saw that a couple follicles were larger and possibly ready for ovulation. We also expressed to her that my Ovulation tracking mentioned I was peaking. Due to this she advised to take my trigger shot sooner than schedueled. We then schedueled my insemination for the day after I took my trigger shot. Thankfully I tracked my ovulation. The day of insemination we were not happy that Dr. Jeelani was not present and were not told about this until the day of. Luckily, we had a great Nurse. After the insemination and the long 2 week wait we did not hear from Dr. Jeelani in that time frame. I came in for bloodwork and did receive a call from Dr. Jeelani personally that same night letting me know that I was pregnant. After finding out I was pregnant Dr. Jeelani did provide her phone number and said I could reach out when needed. At one point I did begin to bleed and expressed this to be a concern. Dr. Jeelani mentioned as long as it wasn't excessive that it should not be a concern due to it stopping. In the end unfortunately we had a miscarriage due to the baby not having a heartbeat. During this process we did not meet with Dr. Jeelani until the nurses felt it wouldn't be a viable pregnancy. They told us to wait another week and the last week I met with another Dr. After this I did not hear from Dr. Jeelani again and only dealt with Dr. Beltsos. In my opinion as her patient I felt she could have been more involved and personable.

However, if you are looking for a very personable Dr. and someone who is genuinly compassionate about your process you wont get that. It's more of a business relationship and when you understand that up front you won't feel as dissapointed along the way. The end goal can still be obtained if you remain proactive with your process.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
I can honestly say I have felt both at times. We've had positive and not so positive experiences with the staff and Dr. Jeelani that have resulted in us feeling this way. Initially, my wife and I had very high expectations and were super excited about going through our first IUI process ever with Vios Fertility. We feel that with such a sensitive and what should be an exciting (not stresssful) process that feeling human all of the time was unfortunately not what we felt. We do understand that the Doctors are stretched thin due to having several patients to care for at once and we can't expect to interact with them 100% of the time. However, we felt the team of Nurses and desk staff did not always offer that genuine concern, consideration, and compassion during the process as we expected they should. There were those few that were always a pleasure to see and communicate with when we dealt with them either via the portal or in person. They always smiled and greeted us by name or even if we didn't have an appointment with them that day they made it a point to stop and ask how everything was going in our process. That stood out to us and made us feel they genuinely cared about us and our process. Then there were others who were very serious and looked as if they weren't happy with being at work. One example is a particular nurse who performed my ultrasounds pretty regularly barely communicated with us during the ultrasounds. She would take photos and measurements without explaining anything to us. We would only receive a short explanation when we asked questions; very impersonable. In the initial phases, Vios could have explained the process to us more in detail and layed everything on the table to us in our initial New Patient Consultation with the Dr. It keeps the patient from guessing or searching for information on their own after the fact. As a new patient and being new to this entire process, we would have liked to know we would be working with a team of nurses and not just one particular Nurse/Dr., sticking to either giving us a call with results or posting them in the portal within the timeframe given and informed, and letting it be known that the doctor would not be the one we would see for most ultrasounds, etc. In our case, Dr. Jeelani was not there or did not perform our insemination process when we were told she would. We found out the day of insemination that a Nurse would be the one doing it (She turned out to be amazing). Before the insemination, I had surgery to have a polyp removed from my uterus. I was under the impression Dr. Jeelani would be present for this as well and found out day of surgery that she would not. The miscommunication and not having all of the proper information up front (before/after insemination fact or guideline sheets etc), not receiving timely updates after many bloodwork appts., receiving conflicting information via the portal on medications being prescribed/ordered, and having to ensure all prescriptions were being ordered and processed in a timely manner made this process very stressful. As anyone going through or having gone through this process knows it is very time sensitive. This is why I feel this is something that the Dr./Staff could've been on top of more. We feel if we weren't as Proactive in our own process with ensuring all the pieces fell into place, we probably would not have been as successful with our first IUI attempt. In regards to Dr. Jeelani alone, when we did speak with her she did have a very sweet demeanor about her. As a person, she showed compassion and seemed to want to be helpful. She even gave me her cell number and expressed if there were any concerns I could reach out to her. I did a few times which she responded to promptly. I could tell when meeting with her in person she seemed very busy, rushed, and on the go. At times this caused confusion in her responses. There were a couple of times she confused my case with others. For example the first day I met her she was convinced she had already met me and spoken to me on the phone, however, I explained that was not me and it was our first time meeting. Overall, the intent of wanting to be helpful was present. I just think maybe being busy with other cases she may have forgotten to communicate certain things to me or have information relayed via the staff and/or portal in a timely manner.
Describe the protocols Roohi Jeelani used in your cycles at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute) and their degree of success.
I mentioned previously that I was diagnosed with PCOS throughout my process. I was personally advised of using fertility drugs throughout my IUI process. I did not decline and trusted my Dr. in this. I felt that anything that could help my chances of getting pregnant the first time I would take. My spouse and I were not covered by our insurance in addition to having to get donor sperm for this process. This played a major factor in our decision to use fertility drugs instead of attempting naturally due to us having to pay out of pocket. I was initially given Clomid which had its side affects and during the time I was pregnant, I had huge cysts on each ovary. It is believed the Clomid may have caused this. After the Clomid I took my Ovidrel shot when peaking to help release my egg (possibly eggs) within 24 hours. 24 hours later I had my insemination schedueled. After insemination I was told to immediately start taking Endometrin (Progesterone) twice a day to help ensure the embryo attached itself to my uterine wall. After finding out I was pregnant, I was informed my HTC was not increasing as quickly as it should. A week later my Thyroid was tested and found to be higher than normal. Due to this I was prescribed Thyroid medication for an overactive thyroid. I believe a week after I was told my Vitamin D levels were low and I should begin taking a 2000mg supplement of Vitamin D. After the 6th week, my Progesterone levels began to drop and my dosage for Endometrin went from 2 to 4 times a day. Then unfortunately I did not have a viable pregnancy. Throughout the pregnancy process I only met with Dr. Jeelani one time and saw more of Dr. Beltsos until the end.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
The nursing staff at Vios was not very informative. I did receive a lot of conflicting information throughout my process at the clinic via the portal and in person. I would be promised to be called with results from my bloodwork that was done in house and would not receive them until I followed up. When I did receive my results usually the next day it would be posted to the portal. I would receive a brief description of my results but nothing further. There were times where I would not receive an explanation on my levels and would only see my HTC and other numbers posted. Some of the nurses went out of thier way to congratulate us when finding out I was pregnant, while others were very impersonable about the process. Same as when finding out I would not have a viable pregnancy. Emily was one of the nurses that we appreciated the most due to being consistent and caring during our process. She made us feel as if it wasn't only about business and we were more than just a number. We could tell she genuinely loved her job and cared for patients. Overall, you are not consistently seeing one Nurse. I found myself having to explain things to different Nurses due to them not being familiar with me as a patient and my process. This aspect of the clinic felt impersonable.
Describe your experience with Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
The clinic is like any other Doctor's office clinic. Initially I thought there would be a difference between a Fertility Clinic and a regular Doctors office clinic, however, there is no major difference. Each time we entered the clinic we did not feel very welcomed or compassion from the ladies behind the desk. It was impersonal each time we were there. One of the members even made an inappropriate comment to my spouse which we reported to the main Dr. of the clinic.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
My overall IUI process was $1200 out of pocket due to my insurance not covering it. The $1200 did not include any fertility drugs. Luckily, our insurance helped cover a majkr portion of the medication.
Describe Roohi Jeelani's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
This does not apply to my case and was not discussed with Dr. Jeelani.
What specific things went wrong at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute)?
  • Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
  • Lost paperwork
  • Failed to call with results
  • Failed to send your chart to another clinic
  • Provided conflicting information
  • Failed to convey critical information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
There have been quite a few mishaps by the clinic. When having to send prescriptions or send my medical files to my primary doctors office it did not happen right away. I had to make phone calls myself to ensure paperwork was being sent or received and ensure medications were prescribed as needed.

She [Dr. Roohi Jeelani] is knowledgeable and helped guide me through this process from the beginning. She was available when I needed to speak with her...When my follicles weren't growing fast enough she increased my Follistim dosage... I had her personal phone number, which I did use for questions. She answered timely and willing to answer any question I had. Her bed side manners were great and I felt comfortable in her presence.
They [Vios Fertility Institute] have a portal that allows you to communicate with the office for questions and in return they can communicate with you for dosage information and action plans. The day of retrieval was easy and the operating staff i.e. anesthesiologist etc were the most welcoming group I have ever encountered...I couldn't stop smiling as I was laying down in the operating chair.

Describe your experience with Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
The clinic's strength is that you feel welcomed, heard and part of the team. The financial staff were very proactive in assisting with insurance information and letting you know ahead of time what to expect with possible costs. They also followed up unprompted. They have a portal that allows you to communicate with the office for questions and in return they can communicate with you for dosage information and action plans. The day of retrieval was easy and the operating staff i.e. anesthesiologist etc were the most welcoming group I have ever encountered. They asked me how my new kitty was and I was shocked they kept track or communicated with each other on purpose to bring it up so I would feel comfortable. I couldn't stop smiling as I was laying down in the operating chair.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Roohi Jeelani at Kindbody - Chicago (formerly Vios Fertility Institute).
My insurance covers IVF and therefore covered the egg retrieval. The cost to freeze the eggs was $1,200. I had a copay for each visit.

Dr.Jeelani is very personal and cares about you being successful. [she] had a good heart and makes sure your comfortable...Answers all of your question and encourages you to call if you have questions that you think about once you leave...We started with high dosages of follistum and menopur which I believed yielded is the good results she was able to obtain. Eggs grew at a slow and steady rate.
[Vios Fertility Institute] nurse showed a lot of empathy especially after my misscarrige...[clinic weakness] They won’t bill the insurance for things you are made to pay for up front. You have to ensure you things are being billed correctly so that your insurance company can pay them properly...I spoke with her[Dr. Jeelani] and things were taking care of right after so if there issues with billing make sure she is aware she will get it taken care of.

I had access to the doctor [Dr. Jeelani] on her cell at all hours of the night! She is truly amazing, and being a patient of IVF herself she can relate to the anxiety of it all... I believe she was a gift, to have had such a passionate physician during the most important thing in your life. I am very pleased with this process and will recommend her to anyone going through any infertility issues...She believes in transferring 2.
[The nurses at Vios Fertility Institute are] all great. Very compassionate and reliable...They get you in and out for appts quickly! The nurses are all highly skilled in blood draw which is huge as you will get it done at least 20 times! The front desk staff aren’t the friendliest at times but getting better with more visits...Omnitrope the whole cycle 25ml for egg quality which I believe was key! It was an out of pocket cost but worth it. Follistim 300, then day 6 added in 225 Ganerelix then a 15k trigger of Novarel.

Dr. Jeelani is a brilliant RE who makes herself available to her patient. She does a great job at reviewing your results with you, make sure you understand them, recap the previous one, provides her opinion and looks for feedback...[she] is a busy Doctor, make sure you have your questions ready...[she] empathized and even shared her own journey with IVF
The [Vios Fertility Institute] clinic is very well organized especially in COVID times. I always feel very safe going in with the new protocol. The wait is also very small since everyone is scheduled. It is hard to plan since one day you can get an appt at 9 and the next at noon. The results are not shared with you until later on in the afternoon when your nurse calls you with next steps. Communication is not consistent - some doctors provide their direct contact information, others require you go through their assistant.

Very caring and compassionate doctor. I love how she [Dr. Jeelani] is very open with patients and has an Instagram account with helpful info. Each consult was very helpful in our decisions as to what to do moving forward...Ask a lot of questions and don't be afraid to advocate for yourself and what you need with any doctor
Great medical team. Would like better communication with the nursing and billing staff but it seems to be a common theme with a lot of clinics.
