Dr. Krieg is very friendly and makes you feel heard from her warm demeanor...only seen Dr. Krieg virtually, and not at our specific appointments however this was communicated fully and we understand that you may not get your specific doctor depending on the day...We are presented information and can process the information during our call and Dr. Krieg gives us space to do so....results were 4 embryos, 2 eggs...did genetic testing PGT M and A and found our results of viable egg
[At Oregon Health Sciences University] You don't get to have 1:1 conversations, however the in-between person gives you fair warnings on the process...had a great experience and communication is excellent...onfident in the process because of the follow up from Katie on items we have to do. I can always reach out for questions and I get a response from someone quickly. If Katie is not available for any reason, someone is getting the message!
How was your experience with Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
We've only seen Dr. Krieg virtually, and not at our specific appointments however this was communicated fully and we understand that you may not get your specific doctor depending on the day. During our virtual meetings we feel heard and understood. We are presented information and can process the information during our call and Dr. Krieg gives us space to do so. We did not have a high chance of lots of eggs and Dr. Krieg presented this information in a warm understanding way. We feel confident in Dr. Krieg's ability to lead us in the best direction for our family. There are a lot of options you have during the process, and I felt confident going with the statistics presented by Dr. Krieg.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
You will enjoy Dr. Krieg's warm friendly attitude, and I suggest for anyone to ask lots of questions and find out all the information possible. There are so many steps it gets overwhelming. Having someone with you who can process all the information is extremely helpful, because personally I get overwhelmed and can't remember everything said during our conversations with Dr. Krieg. My partner is amazing and remembers these details and we take lots of notes on our to-dos and follow up for Dr. Krieg. Taking responsibility for our care and knowing when to speak up has been very helpful.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
Dr. Krieg is very friendly and makes you feel heard from her warm demeanor. I feel like we get information from her in a timely manner and she is able to present this information in a warm way. Although we are virtually speaking with her, we still feel confident in our ability to get information across.
Describe the protocols Sacha Krieg used in your cycles at Oregon Health Sciences University and their degree of success.
For the egg retrieval here is what we used: Menopur subcutaneous injection with a Q-cap Follistim AQ or Gonal-F ready jet pen Ganirelix Acetate or Cetrotide HCG Trigger (Pregnyl/Novarel) I felt confident this was the correct path forward based on Dr. Krieg's knowledge and experience. The Ganirelix has a "dull" shot, I definitely suggest getting the angle down correctly to use that one. The results were 4 embryos, 2 eggs. We did genetic testing PGT M and A and found our results of viable eggs from those tests. We used a lab outside of the normal lab used by OHSU and the genetics counselor was helpful getting us set up. I feel confident in the process.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Oregon Health Sciences University. (Assigned nurse: Katie, RN)
I love our nurse, Katie. We have had a great experience and communication is excellent. I feel confident in the process because of the follow up from Katie on items we have to do. Describe your experience with Oregon Health Sciences University.
Keep up on financial information. It's tough to navigate because there is only one financial person for the fertility clinic. You don't get to have 1:1 conversations, however the in-between person gives you fair warnings on the process. We all know healthcare costs in general are tough to navigate. You don't go through the main OHSU financial line, you go through the fertility clinic.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University.
Most of the costs went through insurance, however Andrology did not. We're working through these costs now.
Describe Sacha Krieg's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Oregon Health Sciences University.
Our doctor said most people are using single embryo transfer and knowing the risks for a multiple embryo transfer I feel confident that's the way to go.

Dr. Krieg has a very warm and welcoming personality...She took the time to get to know me and what I did for a living and asked me what my goals were and did her best to explore conservative options first...She made sure to address any hormonal problems, nutrient deficiencies and hormonal problems I had. We also reviewed all my medications and supplements and added anything that could help my egg quality.
[nurse of Oregon Health Sciences University] has always been very communicative over the phone and clear about her instructions...They also have a reproductive counselor that I've met with to help me during this challenging journey. She was incredibly helpful in providing support by listening and giving me strength to keep going. OHSU is very busy and I don't always get the appointments I need with my busy work schedule. I would also prefer I saw my own doctor for the treatments such as IUI.
How was your experience with Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
Dr. Krieg has a very warm and welcoming personality. She made me feel confident I had something I could work on and move forward with. She did make me feel alone sharing many women like myself are going through the same thing and she was there to help.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
Always advocate for yourself, and ask for what you want.

Describe the protocols Sacha Krieg used in your cycles at Oregon Health Sciences University and their degree of success.
She made sure to address any hormonal problems, nutrient deficiencies and hormonal problems I had. We also reviewed all my medications and supplements and added anything that could help my egg quality. We also performed additional diagnostics such as hysterosalpingogram to make sure I didn't have any uterine abnormalities, especially since I had a recent miscarriage. We started out with ovulation inducers and HCG shots with IUI to improve my chances. When my partner had to have surgery for varicocele, we discontinued IUI until he had better counts. However, she allowed us to continue to try at home with ovulation inducers to take advantage of the months while my partner was healing. She didn't want to wast my time or money with IUI when our chances were low with the varicocele. I appreciated this greatly.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Oregon Health Sciences University. (Assigned nurse: Val)
Val has always been very communicative over the phone and clear about her instructions, yet encouraging during our difficulty journey.
Describe your experience with Oregon Health Sciences University.
I feel assured that OHSU is up to date on the latest research and medical techniques for fertility. I know that I am getting the best possible care with this hospital. They also have a reproductive counselor that I've met with to help me during this challenging journey. She was incredibly helpful in providing support by listening and giving me strength to keep going. OHSU is very busy and I don't always get the appointments I need with my busy work schedule. I would also prefer I saw my own doctor for the treatments such as IUI.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University.
So far, I've done on all the labwork and diagnostic testing, medications including injections and two IUI's. I've spent about $4500.
Describe Sacha Krieg's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Oregon Health Sciences University.
I don't have any concerns at the moment. My cycles are put on hold due to the coronavirus. We are devastated as we were only weeks away from starting IVF. Dr. Krieg and her team made the difficult to decision to discontinue treatments for the better good. Although my partner and I are anxiously awaiting for opportunity to have a baby, we understand.

Dr. Krieg is an outstanding physician and person! She was always warm, enthusiastic, and detailed. She answered my questions patiently. She also either has exceptional memory or took the time to review my chart before each visit, made clear by her personalized small talk before getting into the medical details for each visit...I also appreciated that she explained her thinking and what we were about to do and why each step of the way
The [Oregon Health Sciences University] clinic is excellent at managing high patient volumes. To me, the rotating model of care (i.e., I met with whichever fertility doctor was on call) worked great. This enabled prompt care once I was in the system and faultless care 7 days per week. Members of the team were excellent communicators. I like how members of my care team used MyChart in combination with phone and in person communication (during visits) to communicate with me. The many complex parts of care were well-organized, from physician care to other clinical care, lab work, financials, pharmacy, and front desk.
How was your experience with Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
I recommend Dr. Krieg without reservation! I loved her positive attitude and enthusiasm! I also appreciated that she explained her thinking and what we were about to do and why each step of the way. (I had a great need for this and she always responded to me when I had a question or needed more info.) I liked receiving care from Dr. Krieg very much. In addition, the rotating care (i.e., I saw whichever doctor was on call) worked very well for me. I felt that Dr. Krieg knew where I was at every step of the way, and once I was in the system, I didn't have to wait to see a physician, nurse, and other care team members even if Dr. Krieg (and her team) wasn't personally available.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
Come prepared with questions. Manage expectations regarding only seeing your primary fertility doctor, as the clinic has a rotating model of care. (Dr. Krieg will still remain your fertility doctor and will make the ultimate decision, following team consultation, on all steps.)

Describe the protocols Sacha Krieg used in your cycles at Oregon Health Sciences University and their degree of success.
I had one egg retrieval cycle (antagonist protocol) and three frozen embryo transfers (1 OCP/estrace protocol, 1 modified natural cycle protocol, and 1 lupron estrace protocol). I was fortunate not to have major side effects or discomforts with one exception: the progesterone in oil injections that were required for 3 of these protocols irritated the injection site.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Oregon Health Sciences University. (Assigned nurse: Val then Katie)
I interacted with Val, Katie, Oanh, and Dani from the nursing team, all through phone and MyChart. Val was initially my primary care nurse and then Katie. Val was very experienced, knowledgeable, and organized, but she often shared her overwhelming workload with me and rushed me through questions. I got the sense that she was annoyed at my questions. She sometimes gave me replies that indicated obvious answers, but everything was new and often anxiety provoking for me, not obvious. I believe that Val retired. Katie was a phenomenal all around - also knowledgeable and organized, but also exceptionally kind, thorough, and patient with me. She was a wonderful part of my care team! When I eventually achieved a positive pregnancy, she was the best cheerleader and was vocally and genuinely happy with me. When I occasionally interacted with Oanh and Dani, I had a similar experience with them as with Katie.

I have zero complaints about Dr. Kieg. She was helpful and knowledgeable. We have one boy and another on the way thanks to her and her team. I didn’t always get to see her because of the timing of things but when I did it was always a pleasant experience. She is an upbeat, positive person...She always spoke to me with care and compassion and seemed to be truly interested in my struggle.
Currently the staffing is low and the billing department is suffering [at Oregon Health Science Univserity]. I’ve had some issues with bills coming in after I’ve already paid (you have to pre-pay before each procedure). I took Lupron, progesterone injections for the transfers both times. I can’t remember what was taken for my egg retrieval.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Oregon Health Sciences University.
She was very helpful and wrote me back usually right away with any concern I had. The only concern I had was when trying to decide how many eggs to fertilize, I was told the likely hood of getting more than 10 healthy eggs is slim to none so I didn’t place a number down. This resulted in 14 healthy embryos. Now I have 12 that I need to adopt out. That’s a lot of responsibility.

Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Oregon Health Sciences University.
The appointments were scheduled based on the timing of my cycle. That means if I needed to come in on a weekend I did. I live 3 hours away so sometimes I had to leave super early to get to my appointment but they would try to work with me on that as well.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University.
For egg retrieval, and then transfer we spent roughly $25,000.00. That includes some medicines.
Describe Sacha Krieg's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Oregon Health Sciences University.
Dr. Krieg will only place one embryo at a time in for the transfer. She feels that this allows your body to completely focus on this one fully. It worked for us two times!

She [Dr. Krieg] informed us of everything possible and gave us realistic expectations. She was also so compassionate and understanding of our losses. We were with her for almost 4 years and she made the whole process so much easier. I couldn’t imagine going through all we did without a doctor like her and her colleagues (OHSU) ... she suggested doing 3 IUI’s before moving forward with IVF. We had no luck with those and had to go through 3 rounds of IVF before having a live birth. We used clomid, lupron, Estradiol and progesterone throughput the process.
We went to OHSU fertility after trying to conceive for 2 years. ... Great with scheduling but not always on time. Usually a 20-30 min wait. Clinic was easy to find and very clean. Everyone that we worked with at the front office was very helpful With check in and billing. ... All the nurses were fantastic except for our primary nurse. That would be my only complaint. ...

We did a package from an outside source and that was approximately $28000. Not including medications for retrieval or each cycle. Total, we probably spent close to $40000.

We didn’t want to run the risk of multiples, so we did 1 at a time.

What I love about Dr. Krieg is that she is optimistic and compassionate (while still being realistic about outcomes). I’m 39 with an FSH of 15 and an AMH of 0.29 and I loved that she viewed these numbers as a challenge to overcome instead of a death sentence. In fact her words were, “Don’t worry, I’ve had patients have full term healthy pregnancies with these numbers”. I loved hearing that.
OHSU offers discounted financing options for fertility treatments through Attain and ARC. I’m 39 and was able to buy a package of three retrievals with unlimited transfers through attain for around $30K (with an option to get some $$ back if this protocol didn’t result in a pregnancy. The package didn’t include medications or genetic testing (maybe $15K more for 3 rounds of retrievals).
How was your experience with Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
I was referred to Dr. Krieg by another practioner. What I love about Dr. Krieg is that she is optimistic and compassionate (while still being realistic about outcomes). Do your research on Fertility IQ first, so you can come prepared with questions to ask.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
My husband and I had two pregnancy losses, two surgeries for endometriosis and a failed IUI by the time we started IVF with Dr. Krieg. She has been nothing short of amazing and we appreciate how much compassion she has for our situation. The staff at OHSU, including Dr. Krieg, has been warm and all have been completely available to me through their patient portal or via phone call. I’ve always received a timely call back from the office. We never feel like a number.
Describe the protocols Sacha Krieg used in your cycles at Oregon Health Sciences University and their degree of success.
I’m midway through the first round of egg retrieval via IVF. Here is the protocol protocol I am on: Climara transdermal Patch (due to my high FSH) Ganirelix x 3 days Menopur 2 powder vials - AM Daily Follistim 300 Units - PM Daily Saizen - PM every other day Ganirelix again until follicles are 12-14mm Retrieval will likely occur sometime between 10-16 days of stimulation medications.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Oregon Health Sciences University. (Assigned nurse: Val)
So far, the handful of nurses I have interacted with have been nothing short of impressive. All have been kind, good listeners, concerned for our well being and of course, hopeful for a good outcome.
Describe your experience with Oregon Health Sciences University.
For starters, the office has a very soothing vibe to it. The amount of natural light helps (I’ve been to other offices where it seems you’re stuck in a fluorescent cave). The front desk is friendly, no one has been rude or short with us. I was referred here by a very close friend (who is picky!!) and would definitely refer others here.

Dr. Kreig did not recommend multiple embryo transfer. We will be genetic testing all embryos (due to previous pregnancy losses) and she suggested multiple rounds would get us the most eggs to work with. With my FSH/AMH numbers, history of ovarian damage (due to recurring endometrioma on my ovaries) Dr. Krieg estimated we might get 1, maybe 2 embryos per retrieval that could be genetic tested. So we weren’t really good candidates for multiple embryo transfer anyway.

She [Dr. Krieg] ran basic fertility levels and HSG as well as genetic testing on me and a semen analysis which showed no male infertility. My only treatment with her was one cycle with a dosage of 50mg Clomid on days 3-7 of my cycle, which yielded no response, so they had me immediately do another few days of 100mg Clomid which again yielded zero response. The only other option they offered me was to do high dose injections and IUI. Which was too expensive for us to even try since I have a low chance of it working due to low AMH and a blocked tube.
Appropriate tests were not ordered prior to starting treatments [at Oregon Health Sciences University]. -Information was hard to get and confusing. -Felt more like a number than a person. -Left confused, and heartbroken...They said that my injections should only have cost around $1,000 but that was no where near what it actually was going to be (closer to $6,000+). Everything else was luckily covered for the most part, however my insurance will not cover infertility treatments.
How was your experience with Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
Sacha was sweet and listened to me at our consultation appointment, and had a very personable personality. Appointments were brief, but appeared caring, and non judgmental, and tried to relate to me as best she could.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
Be your own advocate, and don't be afraid to push for more answers.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
Sacha Krieg was a great doctor and enjoyed the very little face time I got with her, however it was difficult to get in touch with her and her staff as they are very busy and I am a needy client due to my health issues. While under her care I was diagnosed with extremely low AMH levels, elevated FSH, and a blocked tube at age 26; all of this stems from my cancer treatments as a child. I found it upsetting that they didn't rerun my labs prior to treatment(there was a year or more in between testing and treatment). I also found it upsetting that I was only given 2 rounds(in 1 cycle) of Clomid before they said it wouldn't work and pushed me on to high dose injections, which was going to cost thousands of dollars, they didn't seem to have any different plans available to me especially due to they contending that I am not an IVF candidate. It was then we decided to "give up" on our journey. After doing much research and speaking with people like me I have found some hope, even after my spontaneous natural pregnancy ended in a second trimester loss due to what they believe was Cervical Incompetence in December 2019. My husband however had a much better experience and has no complaints but he also does not have any male fertility issues.
Describe the protocols Sacha Krieg used in your cycles at Oregon Health Sciences University and their degree of success.
She ran basic fertility levels and HSG as well as genetic testing on me and a semen analysis which showed no male infertility.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Oregon Health Sciences University.
It was difficult to get through to the nursing staff and they didn't seem very knowledgeable to me. My husband had no complaints except that they didn't do semen analysis on weekends or late in the day.
Describe your experience with Oregon Health Sciences University.
I know many other people who have had great success with them, and better experiences than I experienced. My husband liked the clinic a lot, the only down side was the time slots available for sperm analysis. OHSU is an incredible hospital system, but it is a busy one. Make sure to do your own research and ask as many questions as you need to. Be your own advocate!

After my second IUI, I called the clinic saying I was very hesitant to do another and wanted to talk about alternatives such as IVF. I was told I was not allowed to schedule an appointment with Dr. Krieg until my 3rd IUI failed as per the treatment plan.... Dr. Krieg was easy to talk to and seemed helpful. I feel like she tried to give realistic (poor) odds of success with IUI. She pushed me away from doing IVF earlier on, which was unfortunate because then when I finally was able to get a meeting to talk to her about it, I was about to turn 38 and so no longer qualified for their refund programs.
The facility at south waterfront is fine. The OHSU billing department can be annoying to deal with.... I did not always get called about results, but I have access to their EMR so was able to look them up myself.... I was upset when I called asking for an appointment with my doctor and was told that was not allowed.... You will be asked to have a medical student in with you for visits. There are several doctors, you are assigned to one who manages your care, but you will see whoever is "on call" that week.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
You will frequently see other MDs for monitoring appointments. There is often a long wait for regular appointments. At least for IUI, the availability of monitoring appointments was limited. If you have questions, you will be speaking to her staff, not to her.

Describe the protocols Sacha Krieg used in your cycles at Oregon Health Sciences University and their degree of success.
I met with Dr. Krieg for secondary infertility. She recommended 2-3 cycles of IUI with clomid. She recommended not going straight to IVF with my history. I responded well to clomid and had a miscarriage with the 3rd IUI cycle.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Oregon Health Sciences University.
I was upset when I called asking for an appointment with my doctor and was told that was not allowed. My doctor later said that was not the case, so I should have pushed harder. I think I was supposed to have a specific nurse, but I ended up speaking to someone different who was unfamiliar with my case almost every time. I know I was only an IUI patient, but every phone call was, "our priority is for our ivf patients" before they would work on handling my issues.

IUI was not covered by insurance. Cost for 1 round including monitoring ultrasound, sperm wash, ovidrel trigger, clomid, and procedure was about $1000. Each visit was paid in advance.

Describe the protocols Sacha Krieg used in your cycles at Kansas University Center for Advanced Reproductive Medicine and their degree of success.
We started with IUI using Clomid and donor sperm after testing was done to ensure that I did not have any physical indicators of fertility problems, since my husband is transgender. When that did not work, we tried various combinations and amounts of Letrazole and eventually tried injectibles, which resulted in our pregnancy. She was very helpful too once we found out we were expecting multiples, and talked openly and honestly about the risks.

Judy Gay was amazing! She was cheerful, supportive, empathic, and really got to know us. She showed that she cared and it made the whole process much easier! I honestly can't say enough positive things about her!

It was expensive, as it was all out of pocket with no insurance coverage. They were able to work with us, and helped provide samples of medications when they could, especially after a cycle had to be cancelled halfway through when I got the flu and had already used a large amount of costly medication.

She [Dr. Krieg] was very nice although I wish she'd gone over more of the risks on the hormone treatments and the likelihood (or not) of success... Most of the time they treated me as a human, but the entire process lends more to feeling like a number.

Dr Krieg is extemely warm and has a great bed side manner. We've only met with her for consult and initial testing but have been stalled due to Covid...was very understanding of our specific desires for treatment in a certain way and was compassionate...We discussed using Zymot for sperm DNA damage, and doing a protocol to help with early recruitment of follicles, since I seem to do this. She had options for helping to work with these particular scenarios.
We've mainly had contact via phone calls and communication post our initial appt. and some testing. They [Oregon Health Science University nurses ]have been quick to respond to questions via phone or the online portal...My main critique would be the appt. for the finances. They described the shared risk programs that they offer as "groupons" for fertility treatment. This is NOT what they are. They are shared risk and pose the RISK of you losing a large amount of money
How was your experience with Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
Our experience with infertility care has been long but has never resulted in getting to IVF. I've been particular about wanting certain things in our treatment (zymot for male infertility/DNA damage) and was not able to get the other Dr. that we were working at the time to agree to this (different clinic and city). Luckily, OHSU is already offering this. Dr. Krieg was very understanding of our specific desires for treatment in a certain way and was compassionate. While we have not yet moved forward due to Covid, I felt good about her as a Dr, and her proposed plan.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
Ask a lot of questions and be as knowledgeable as possible with your own particular case.

We've mainly had contact via phone calls and communication post our initial appt. and some testing. They have been quick to respond to questions via phone or the online portal. I did feel that they weren't completely in tune with our particular case when they initially set up some follow up appts, which had to be cancelled due to my cycle not lining up, which I had warned them about. Since then, we have not been able to go back due to Covid.
Describe your experience with Oregon Health Sciences University.
My main critique would be the appt. for the finances. They described the shared risk programs that they offer as "groupons" for fertility treatment. This is NOT what they are. They are shared risk and pose the RISK of you losing a large amount of money. I highly suggest the stop using that term and be more direct about what programs like ARC and ATTAIN are. They were very kind and nice, but this in particular really bothered me as a patient.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University.
Cost of IVF is aprx 13k and transfers another 2K, including ICSI. They offer shared risk programs through Attain and Arc Fertility

Dr Kreig was very personal and thorough. She spent a lot of time with us at each visit and I never felt rushed. However, it was rather difficult to speak directly with Dr. Kreig as most communication is managed by her nurses [OHSU]. ... Initially, the focus was to find a cause for my RPL. After numerous diagnostic tests were done, the only probably cause was chromosomal abnormalities. As a result, IVF with genetic testing was chosen.
Wait time is usually reasonable [at OHSU]. Time with the doctors is great. Clinic management is efficient. However, scheduling appointments to see your doctors can take several weeks. The nursing staff is prompt at returning calls. The financial advisors are very helpful. ... Develop a good relationship with the nurses as you will primarily be working with them throughout the process.

[Dr. Krieg] continues to charge forward and treat the original diagnosis, with the original treatment plan for the time she may have specified in an appointment several months prior, even when new information has materialized that seems like it should result in a change of course. Like in my case, I all of the sudden stopped getting a period after ovulation and stopped showing LH surges on OPK's when every single prior cycle those two things hadn't occurred. In this case, I could hardly get her on the phone to have a conversation with me about it. I find when talking to Dr. Krieg, it's clear she's either forgotten or hasn't looked across my personal medical history when providing me answers, so it seems like each conversation is disconnected from the last.
[Oregon Health Sciences University's] process is incredibly bureaucratic with how they evaluate your medical case as a team, but only allow you to discuss any findings they may have with a nurse who can't answer any questions - on top of that, it's very difficult to get ahold of a doctor (any doctor!) when, in fact, you do have questions. Given the emotional sensitivity of patients undergoing fertility treatments, I would not recommend OHSU, but rather seek a clinic that put patients at the center and prioritizes communication.

Dr. Krieg seems quite knowledgable of textbook diagnoses and interpretation of test results, but tends to overlook details I share that sit outside the norm. Levelset on communication expectations before pursuing treatment to make sure you're both aligned - as the lack of communication could cause stress which quite possibly counterbalances the benefits of pursuing fertility treatments.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Sacha Krieg at Oregon Health Sciences University?
This is a criticism of OHSU Fertility, not of Dr. Krieg, as when I finally got through the bureaucracy to reach Dr. Krieg, she was helpful! OHSU is not patient-centric, they prioritize getting people through vs. talking to their patients. Their process is incredibly bureaucratic with how they evaluate your medical case as a team, but only allow you to discuss any findings they may have with a nurse who can't answer any questions - on top of that, it's very difficult to get ahold of a doctor (any doctor!) when, in fact, you do have questions. provera to stimulate period, letrizole to stimulate ovulation, ovidrel shot to stimulate ovulation, and IUI. 3rd time with this strategy back in 2017 I got pregnant. 3rd time with this strategy in 2019, I didn't get a period at the end of a cycle but had negative pregnancy tests. After trying hard to break through the staff filter to get me 5 minutes on the phone with Dr. Krieg to understand if she might have a hypothesis why, she said likely a luteal cyst, but that it was weird. Next cycle, I had to induce with provera, kept on the same letrizole course, my ultrasound was scheduled too late so we missed ovulation completely. All my OPK's were negative. No explanation. I was prescribed more letrizole to take mid-cycle as they weren't sure at my ultrasound if I had ovulated or if my cycle was just really really long. I started the letrizole, then several days later was told after a blood test that actually I had ovulated. Finally I was able to get a call with Dr. Krieg a few days after that, she said stop taking the letrizole (I had one day supply left). I asked if taking letrizole in the luteal phase was detrimental to my chances of getting pregnant that cycle from intercourse (since we missed IUI) and she said she didn't know, that they have never had anyone take letrizole in the luteal phase before. She recommended same treatment next month.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Oregon Health Sciences University. (Assigned nurse: Valerie)
Valerie always told me the doctor was too busy to talk to me, yet couldn't answer my questions when I had them. After my last conversation with Dr. Krieg on the phone, she told me she had responded to Valerie on a question I had directly, but Valerie never contacted me with Dr. Krieg's response. She also scheduled my ultrasound too late and we missed ovulation completely - I depend on their knowledge of my medical history and their expertise to manage my appointments and my communications with the doctors as needed and I found consistently that I could not depend on Valerie. Alternatively, the medical assistant Lotte, was incredible.

I can't remember the difference in cost between seeing Dr. Krieg 1:1 vs. IUI, vs. ultrasound, but I never left without spending at least $400 and over the course of the several months I've gone to OHSU fertility, I estimate being in over $10k.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Oregon Health Sciences University.
Dr. Krieg told me over the phone not to increase my letrizole dosage. Then a nurse called me to schedule an ultrasound saying my chart reflected a higher dosage than what I was taking. At this time, I asked to speak to a doctor to understand if I should increase, even through Dr. Krieg told me not to because Dr. Krieg was on vacation. No one called me back. I found out later from Dr. Krieg that she had given direction for me to increase back to the nurse directly, yet no one called me or mychart-messaged me that she had responded.
