Dr. Patel really dug into my case and treated it with care...was very matter of fact, thorough and kind...two borderline tumors on my ovaries...was on a breast cancer protocol so I took Letrozole while also doing the growth hormones...produced 18 eggs at my retrieval a few days ago and I have 5 that are developing into embryos at Day 3
[Fertility Specialists of Texas is a] Great place, clean, efficient and organized. Great after hours care...very responsive on the messaging in the portal. Scheduling or getting to a nurse on the phone can sometimes be difficult...Marci was great and then the women at the Plano/Frisco Location were also great. Sometimes I felt like some of the nurses were like a friend
How was your experience with Satin Patel at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic)?
He was very matter of fact, thorough and kind. I felt like I could trust him with our process and he walked me through things. Overall I just felt he was extremely trustworthy and great to work with.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Satin Patel at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic)?
Go in prepared to any IVF or fertility appt with understanding the stats, the process and ask others who have gone through it what their advice is. The doctors are there to progress you forward with a treatment plan but they are not there to advocate for what you need / want. So advocate for yourself and get knowledgable so you can be in a place of great discussion with each doctor
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Satin Patel at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Patel really dug into my case and treated it with care. His team is also extremely responsive and when at the clinic I felt like the staff was much friendly, talkative, etc then other places I have been. Overall I just felt like if I had a question, concern, etc. I was met with a lot of care.
Describe the protocols Satin Patel used in your cycles at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I have two borderline tumors on my ovaries. We are not 100% sure that there are no cancer cells growing so it's important to not use growth hormones without balancing estrogen. I was on a breast cancer protocol so I took Letrozole while also doing the growth hormones. I produced 18 eggs at my retrieval a few days ago and I have 5 that are developing into embryos at Day 3, I will know a final count soon on total embryos.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Marci)
Marci was great and then the women at the Plano/Frisco Location were also great. Sometimes I felt like some of the nurses were like a friend. It helped. The process is not fun and so to have someone talk to you like you're a human helped a lot and everyday I didn't dread my appointments.
Describe your experience with Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic).
Great place, clean, efficient and organized. Great after hours care too and very responsive on the messaging in the portal.
Scheduling or getting to a nurse on the phone can sometimes be difficult they have front desk staff that answer quickly but then they can't really help so they always have someone call you back which when you work and have meetings it can make it hard to not miss that call back
Doctor Patel was very knowledgeable and always made time to answer any question or concern I had. He was also willing to take my thoughts and opinions into consideration throughout my treatment plan...was very responsive to my questions and was very helpful in making me feel comfortable and listened to during treatment...After my canceled IVF cycle, Doctor Patel adjusted the dose of medication rather than going with the standard procedure
The [Fertility Specialists of Texas] clinic is great about being responsive to questions and needs of their patients; however, they do not always proactively explain the process and procedures to new patients. I had to do a lot of my own research to understand what was going on to properly advocate for myself...The nursing staff was helpful. They answered my questions to the best of their ability and made sure to pass on any questions they were not able to answer personally. Additionally, they made time to listen to my concerns or needs.

Describe the protocols Satin Patel used in your cycles at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
After a failed embryo transfer, we completed a mock transfer cycle to make sure we found the best time to transfer for our next cycle. After my canceled IVF cycle, Doctor Patel adjusted the dose of medication rather than going with the standard procedure. We determined my body did not do well when using birth control between cycles, so Doctor Patel allowed me to use another means of controlling my cycles.

Describe Satin Patel's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic).
Dr. Patel is compassionate and patient. He takes as much time is needed to make me feel like all my questions are answered. He came fully prepared for my initial consultation having read my extensive IVF medical records from a previous clinic...If there is any question about my treatment plan he will schedule my ultrasounds to be with him specifically so he can personally do my scans. He calls me personally for big events to discuss treatment options. He also takes the time to discuss research in the field and which treatments are or are not supported by the research...
[Fertility Specialists of Texas] has multiple locations across Dallas so there is usually one that is fairly close. I go to the Frisco location. The support staff (nurses, MAs, etc) seem more disorganized than what I'm used to at my previous clinic. They do allow you to sign paperwork via zoom with the nurse as a witness which is much more convenient than my previous clinic (which had to be done in person or via a notary)...The nurse is very nice and quick to respond to portal messages...

Dr. Patel speaks to me with compassion and takes as much time as is needed to answer all my questions. He will call me personally after failed transfers to discuss what may have happened and how to change treatment strategies moving forward. He takes the time to discuss evidence based medicine but is also open to trying things "outside the box". He makes me a big part of my treatment plan.

Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic).
The nurse is very nice and quick to respond to portal messages. She is, however, somewhat disorganized compared to what I experienced at my previous clinic. I have caught missed medication prescriptions and errors in my portal instructions. When I arrive for ultrasound appointments there is always confusion by the ultrasound nurse as the why I am in there or how far along in my cycle I am. Most of the MAs are good with lab draws, but a few are not. After being bruised a few times, by attempting to draw from smaller more superficial veins, I now direct them to a deeper larger vein every time even if they do not prefer it, as it is 100% successful. Since there are number of different MAs who draw blood, I have to direct them every time as it is often a new person. This is also something different from my previous clinic who had the same phlebotomist from Quest who drew my labs in the fertility clinic every time for 2 years.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic).
My first transfer did not go smoothly. The lab did not call me (during business hours) to inform me of my transfer time the next day as I was told would happen. They also did not call me the morning of the transfer to let me know how the thaw went (which is standard for this clinic). I had a prescription that was not ordered, that I luckily discovered quickly. I had misinformation on my portal instructions that I discovered (this may have been a computer glitch though). I have also been told different information by the nurse compared to the doctor in terms of treatment plan. When I tell her what I was told by the doctor she defers to what he told me (this may be poor communication between the two).
Dr.Patel was professional, proficient, and always took the time to talk and explain things thoroughly. Great bedside manner also. Some of the nurses not so much, but overall Dr. Patel was great...He always took time out to speak to me personally if I had concerns. He adjusted for my second cycle and was completely transparent which led to success. I felt as though he respected my voice when I had concerns or needed clarification. He did what what was best for me overall and he was relentless in achieving success. He made my dreams come true I am forever thankful and would recommend him.
I had the same nurse for both cycles [at Fertility Specialists of Texas]...I’d miss her call at work and callback a minute later and she would not be available. In some cases I felt avoided. However the second cycle, she was wonderful more attentive and helpful...I loved the clinic they were always friendly, respectful, and made me feel welcomed. Everything was pretty much always together when I got there so there was never any hassle. The environment was clean and well maintained.

Make sure you can accommodate going to his south lake office for your cycle. Even though other offices may be closer for convenience. Actually going through the cycle with him hand and hand I believe made a difference in my success.

Describe Satin Patel's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic).
Honestly, when I was initially told I could only transfer one embryo I was upset. After a personal call from Dr Patel I felt somewhat better. At the time I felt the decision should be mine. My single embryo transfer was successful and it made me respect my Doctors decision.I’m now able to see that that decision was the best for my situation.
Dr Patel was extremely thorough and patient, and I truly felt like he cared. ... After our first retrieval, we retrieved a very large number of eggs, but only ended up with one embryo. He was great at explaining to me why this could have happened, and adjusted my protocal and added a different medication that would help with the egg quality.
They [Fertility Specialists of Texas] had a portal system which was very convenient and the nurses were extremely responsive and got back to me right away. Also, the woman who always did my ultrasounds was SO sweet and even came back to find me on my transfer day to give me a hug. ... They were very clear from the beginning about financial and billing breakdowns. Appointments were very easy to make. The portal system makes finding information very convenient.
How was your experience with Satin Patel at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic)?
We were referred to Dr. Patel by a friend back in February after years of trying to conceive and miscarriages. I knew we were in the right place immediately. Dr Patel was extremely thorough and patient, and I truly felt like he cared. He made great recommendations and always explained everything when I needed it. After our first retrieval, we retrieved a very large number of eggs, but only ended up with one embryo. He was great at explaining to me why this could have happened, and adjusted my protocal and added a different medication that would help with the egg quality. I appreciated the adjustment because our second cycle was very successful. We went through with a FET and got pregnant on the first transfer.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Satin Patel at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic)?
At times I feel like he was almost too optimistic and confident, which I understand most doctors are like that. But sometimes I would have appreciated the devil's advocate so that I knew what the worst case scenario was and could possibly prepare for it. He also isn't around too much which is very typical, you only see him for the big things (retrieval, transfer, and then follow up OB appointments if you get pregnant).
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Satin Patel at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Patel never made me feel rushed like he needed to be somewhere. I ask a LOT of questions and he was always very patient and thorough with me. Whenever I had serious questions, he always got on the phone with me to talk me through it.
Describe the protocols Satin Patel used in your cycles at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
Cycle 1:
375 units Follistim - 10 days
150 units Menopur -10 days
Ganirelix
Lupron and HCG trigger
This protocol yielded 40 eggs, but after screening we only ended up with 1 embryo. I was also extremely hyper stimulated and ended up in the hospital with OHSS.
Cycle 2:
Same drug protocol but then added omnitrope which was supposed to help with the egg quality which was likely our issue the first cycle. I also ONLY did a lupron trigger instead of HCG to avoid the potential OHSS, which worked. I had a much easier recovery.
FET:
Birth control for 3 weeks
Lupron shot for 3 weeks
Estrace pills x 3 a day
Estradiol patches
Progesterone in Oil injections
-got pregnant on the first cycle.

I just wish I could have seen more than at the conaultation. I didn’t even see him [Dr. Satin Patel] the morning of my egg retrevial. He didn’t go over the results with me at after either it was just...nothing from him.... Well he had me start stims before I had a period from stopping birth control. Then they thought stims wern’t working and increased my doses of stims, then I had a period and of course they kept me in the higher dose. I ended up with OHSS so bad.
The front office [at Fertility Specialists of TX-Grapevine] kept calling me to make payments and I’m a loan patient!!! One time they told me that I was the one mistaken that I didn’t have an US only labs and I got 30 minutes down the road and they had to call me back for the US!!! I’ve also had to pay for a saline sonogram and they misquoted the cost the first time so I hadn’t paid enough, but then when they called to tell me stated I owed 400$. I threw a fit and she comes back on the phone saying it’s actually 103.24$ that you owe and then they wouldn’t see me until it was paid in full!! Well I went to the clinic with 100$ cash and they wouldn’t see my unless I paid then$3.24 SO STUPID! Another woman in the office helped me out and paid it.

When we got there he [Dr. Satin Patel] explained everything that he would be doing, did bloodwork, ran several tests, explained each test and what the results were, said the only thing we could do was IVF but we elected to try IUI so we did, during the whole process of IUI I only saw Dr. Patel once, then be called with the negative results and that’s where it ended...He only recommended IVF which now I see why. We wanted to try IUI just to say we did try it and he wasn’t optimistic at all, which I’m glad he was honest I just wish I had someone that was always hopeful since I’m already feeling hopeless! But he was ultimately right - which is good! He was sympathetic but I could tell he didn’t want us to try IUI, he just wanted us to do IVF. So that’s the route we are having to take now.

Billing is an absolute nightmare. Any appointment at the Frisco office for consults will be a hot mess. The check-in staff at Frisco are rude. Good luck getting an actual bill for anything. What specific things went wrong at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic)?
From our first appointment with Dr. Patel, he made us feel so comfortable and at ease, despite the nervousness we felt walking into his office. We had already submitted our medical history to him prior to our appointment and it was evident he throughly reviewed it prior to meeting with us and discussed every single detail of our history with us.... during that first appointment he discovered I had a thyroid issue which not even my Primary Care provider addressed
I love the clinic [Fertility Specialists of TX]! The location, staff and cleanliness are everything to me. The staff knows you and welcomes you with a smile each visit, the waiting room is small but comfortable. One thing I would suggest is if you need confidentiality when discussing payment or appt, to request the front desk clerk speaks with you behind the closed door for more privacy.... My nurse along with the entire nurse team was awesome. Even when I had to go to their Frisco locations
How was your experience with Satin Patel at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic)?
As stated before, Dr. Patel was very thorough and easy to understand. He broke down every part of the process and if we still didn't understand or had questions, he gladly answered. We never felt rushed or like we were just "another number" to him. Even when my visit consisted of just meeting with a nurse, if he was in the office, he would make sure to pop in to speak and make sure we were ok or had any questions. This has really eased our anxiety and stress knowing we're in his care.

Luckily during our first consultation, I was able to get an ultrasound and bloodwork due to me being on a certain day of my cycle. Of course there's bloodwork all the time but during that first appointment he discovered I had a thyroid issue which not even my Primary Care provider addressed (that I had just seen). He put me on Levothyroxine 0.075mg and my energy has greatly improved. I was then scheduled for an HSG to determine whether my fallopian tubes were open and we discovered one was slightly blocked and then a Saline Infusion Sonohysterography to examine my uterine cavity. He saw a small fibroid outside of my uterus that he assured he'd continue to monitor and also a small polyp that he said they would remove after my egg retrieval if it did not disappear on it's on. He also placed me on birth control pills to start on cycle day 3 of my menses. After I completed my first round of BCP, I started the following meds:

All of my follicles seemed to be on track each visit and at egg retrieval they retrieved more than the nurse and I both expected. Of course I'd read the symptoms others experienced on similar or same meds but I would describe my STIMS cycle pretty easy. No pain, very little bloating, no other side effects. We retrieved 13 eggs, 8 matured, 5 fertilized and 4 made it to Day 6 freeze.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Alyssa Fox)
My nurse along with the entire nurse team was awesome. Even when I had to go to their Frisco locations on the weekend and for egg retrieval, the nurses there were so friendly and awesome. Sometimes it was hard to reach Alyssa and I did have one email she didn't respond to regarding medications I was out of but a nurse at the Frisco location was able to assist when I met with her on a Saturday. Alyssa made sure my calendars were sent on time and with instructions and after each appt, she called later that afternoon to provide results and answer any questions or concerns.
Describe your experience with Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic).
I love the clinic! The location, staff and cleanliness are everything to me. The staff knows you and welcomes you with a smile each visit, the waiting room is small but comfortable. One thing I would suggest is if you need confidentiality when discussing payment or appt, to request the front desk clerk speaks with you behind the closed door for more privacy.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic).
Pretty simple and the waiting room wasn't filled with patients waiting to be seen. I never sat in the waiting room longer than 5min before getting called to do labs and escorted to the examining room for my ultrasound.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Satin Patel at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic).

Describe Satin Patel's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic).
During our appt for the HSG and SIS, the doctor did say he preferred to transfer one blastocyst but would discuss further once we were ready to transfer and also after examining me prior to transfer to make sure there are no other fibroids, polyps, etc. that might cause problems. I do love he is open to transferring two but also wants to make sure it is safe for both patient and baby.
Dr. Satin Patel is very professional and well mannered. He makes you feel comfortable during exams. He meets with each of his patients to discuss test results and fertility options. He comes off as very genuine and caring as he explains your situation. He's very well informed and willing to help you through your decision process and treatments.... The extra estrogen to thicken my lining the lovenox because of repeated miscarriages
They recently moved from their Grapevine location to a new building in Southlake. It is easy to find after your first visit. It is well kept and has several consult rooms to provide you with privacy. They keep water, tea, and coffee in the waiting area.... $14,000 for retrieval and one fet, every fet after that was a bit under $4,000 Additional genetic screening and services were available and totaled about $24,000... The nurses at the Southlake location are very professional and compassionate.

Failed to call in prescriptions to pharmacy
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic).
It only happened one time on a busy day that they forgot to call in my prescription. I called the clinic and they took care of it immediately.
Dr Patel listened to our history and experience and added input when necessary. He didn't give a canned speech he has given a hundred times before. He made the chances clear but was still hopeful that we would find the right procedures to get us the desired outcome.... Dr Patel was warm and supportive without offering false hope. He made it clear that multiple transfers would have to be done for a single live birth.
The staff [Fertility Specialists of Texas] that answered the phone was always friendly and felt vested in your journey.... Monitoring was a well oiled machine. It was in the mornings between 7 and 9. You got a specific time within that window but as long as you came into that window they would still get you in whether it was early or later than your scheduled time. The sonogram tech was sweet and cheery which is needed at 7am. I actually preferred the sonogram tech to any of the doctors in the practice doing the monitoring.
How was your experience with Satin Patel at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr Patel was warm and supportive without offering false hope. He made it clear that multiple transfers would have to be done for a single live birth. I also felt he was highly knowledgeable and explained why he did or did not recommend a procedure. He also recommended best case scenario instead of heartbreaking trial and error with lessor procedures. I had the utmost confidence that we would get our baby with him. My only negative was once we got a successful transfer it became less clear the procedure was from there.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Satin Patel at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic)?
An office is only as successful as tje nurses and he has some great nurses. Make friends with the nurses, they are the ones that will be taking your blood to get those vital stats, doing your ultrasound, and holding your hand the day of transfer. Don't be afraid to ask questions or next steps.

Describe the protocols Satin Patel used in your cycles at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
We did retrieval, ICSI, and PGS. I don't recall the exact protocols but we were given them in writing with a calendar. The only negative side effect came after my lining wasn't developing before transfer so they upped my dose of estrogen. I was on estrogen patches, orally, and vaginally. I did experience emotional disturbances from the extra estrogen up until transfer. Dr Patel also prescribed lidocain patches for the progesterone shots and it made all the difference.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Kelly)
Kelly was amazing. Willing to answer our questions anytime day or night. No matter how silly or embarrassing. I'm sad to hear she has moved on from the practice. There was one of the younger nurses that was terrible at taking blood that often resulted in bleeding afterwards. I even saw several patients in the elevator with blood dripping down their arm. The sonogram tech was also amazing. She had a great bedside manner, which was helpful since they do all their sonograms at 7am.
Describe your experience with Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic).
The staff that answered the phone was always friendly and felt vested in your journey. They have recently lost their nurse coordinator and practice administrator so things are a little more disorganized. Be proactive in asking for next steps or appts. The work they do is great but they are in transition right now.

I don't recall individual costs but according to our insurance, we spent a total of 17,000 for a retrieval, ICSI, PGS, and 2 transfers. Medication was additional $2,000 out of pocket.
Describe Satin Patel's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic).
Dr Patel does believe that single embryo transfer is just as effective and multiple embryo transfer. I agreed that I would rather have more chances to transfer than a chance at multiples. My insurance would also only pay for single embryo transfer but we could pay out of pocket for multiple embryo transfer.
What specific things went wrong at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic)?

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic).
Since they change in nurse coordinator and clinic administrator, they did fail to give me next steps on doing another retrieval which resulted in being delayed a few cycles. Not great since I'm already over 35.
Dr Patel has been very thorough with my care, and remembers details so I know he pays attention and cares. He is very fact based with his information, and the way he presents it, however he explains it in caring manner and takes emotion into consideration...always friendly and kind when entering the room, and makes me feel heard. I've had a few difficult things happen on this journey, and Dr Patel has explained everything well, and provided space for my questions and concerns.
The staff at FST has been great for me. The quickest way to get a response is through their messaging portal, and they respond usually same day...We had some issues with the finance team, and had to conduct a full audit of our file. That is definitely a weakness. Strengths would include ease of appointments, clinic's cleanliness and safety. The receptionist at the Southlake office is very kind and remembers everyone!

My first egg retrieval yielded 0 embryos, and it was devastating. For my second retrieval, we added Lupron for a few weeks ahead of starting, as well as HGH to improve quality. The second retrieval did yield us one genetically normal embryo.

When we finally met back up with him [Dr. Patel] years later he has been so helpful and eager with helping us to hopefully achieve our family. He has talent the time to call me to go over test results and to explain what we did not understand. I would definitely recommend him to any friend of mine that is possibly going to need assistance with staying their family.

I felt like he [Dr. Satin Patel] was very confident in his work but it scared me thinking was that just because he wanted to sell ivf...I asked if he could just recommend a specialist to do an essure reversal but he was pushing so hard for ivf and I went to an essure specialist and they told me either way was risky....
the nurse [at Fertility Specialists of Texas] was a rude and said I know your impatient but we will get to you ASAP and I didn’t even get to explain before she hung up and so I called back a week later and she apologized cause she send my stuff and personal information to the wrong place....

Describe your experience with Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic).
I got everything done then left and a few months went by and my husband joined the military so we called to have them redo the cost and they seemed upset about that and told me it would be done soon so I called the next day and the nurse was a rude and said I know your impatient but we will get to you ASAP and I didn’t even get to explain before she hung up and so I called back a week later and she apologized cause she send my stuff and personal information to the wrong place she said. They emailed me the next day and the price was the same and said they could only give one discount for the essure and nothing for military discount. Honestly I was okay with that but all that waiting and rudeness was uncalled for
What specific things went wrong at Fertility Specialists of Texas (First Fertility Network clinic)?
[Dr. Satin Patel] isn't the warmest doctor I've ever been to, but I do believe he's good. He explained all options and his recommendations. There were times when I would ask what all I can be doing on my end and he would say nothing and I felt that was frustrating because I do believe there are things patients can do (lifestyle changes)...He highly recommended single embryo transfer which we did...[protocols] IVF, ICSI, PGS...
The cost for an IVF cycle (not including meds) is around 15,000 [at Fertility Specialists of Texas]...I wish it was a little more affordable or that payments plans were an option...There were times when it felt like a cattle call going in for monitoring. There would be 10 girls in the waiting room, get em in, look at the follicles, do bloodwork, go on your way...Overall they [nurses] are very friendly. I think they want the best possible outcome for you!...
