Dr. Katz has always taken adequate time to talk to my husband and I about treatments, we've had multiple one on one meetings with him, everytime I see him in the office he treats me like a friend and gives us hugs and well wishes...[he]strongly recommends ESET at this point but will discuss multiple if appropriate...Stimmed for IUI/TI with letrozole and gonal F - overproduced 8 follicles so switched to a egg retrieval + invocell cycle
[nurse of REACH]treats you like a friend, very receptive and accomodating...The strength is the people, we love the nurses, coordinators, PA and doctors...The main weakness is the billing department, bills are sporadic and last minute. It is not clear when something needs to be paid. We are paying out of pocket and have no infertility coverage so this is really difficult...I have spent almost 40k so far
How was your experience with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Katz is clear and direct. He tells it like it is but not in a way that's scary for me. I can tell he wants the best for us and wants us to be pregnant. He is willing to work with me to find the best option.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
Trust your doctor, don't expect warm and fuzzy but do expect honestly and truthfulness.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Katz has always taken adequate time to talk to my husband and I about treatments, we've had multiple one on one meetings with him, everytime I see him in the office he treats me like a friend and gives us hugs and well wishes
Describe the protocols Seth Katz used in your cycles at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
1. Stimmed for IUI/TI with letrozole and gonal F - overproduced 8 follicles so switched to a egg retrieval + invocell cycle (with Dr. Wheelan) -- Retrieved 8 eggs, 5 eggs went into the device, 3 fertilzed day 5 embroys, fresh transfer (failed) 2. Lupron protocol for FET, estrogen pills, PIO shots, day 5 blast failed 3. ReceptivaRX test positive for endometriosis 4. Stimmed for egg retrieval, GONAL F etc.. full stim cycle, only retrieved 4 eggs, 3 fertilized, 2 were normal, 1 made it to day 7 blast 5. PGS test on 1 frozen day 5 embryo and fresh day 7 embryo - both genetically abnormal 6. Looking into donor eggs at this point, will do Lupron Depot protocol for endo treatment before FET at some point 7. Since we are benched due to COVID at this point I am doing an unmonitored medicated cycle with 5 days of letrozole
Describe your experience with your nurse at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Leigh Redd, Stephane Hartell )
Leigh is wonderful, treats you like a friend, very receptive and accomodating. We just started working with Stephane (donor egg coordinator) but she has been great so far.
Describe your experience with REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
The strength is the people, we love the nurses, coordinators, PA and doctors. We have seen almost every doctor at this point for monitoring and they have all been kind and caring. The main weakness is the billing department, bills are sporadic and last minute. It is not clear when something needs to be paid. We are paying out of pocket and have no infertility coverage so this is really difficult. Need someone other than Diane to help.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
No problems, sometimes it was busy but they ran everyone though well
Describe the costs associated with your care under Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
I have spent almost 40k so far and I am not pregnant yet
Describe Seth Katz's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
Dr. strongly recommends ESET at this point but will discuss multiple if appropriate

Dr Katz wasted my time, my money, and more importantly my hope for being able to carry and get pregnant...My protocol was not tailored to my needs. I could not get a hold of him until after a failed transfer...Letrozole and then a series of shots, including Gonal F, Certrotide...he made me feel like it was my fault
I thought that [REACH] being open early for appointments was a strength but the fact that it's first come first serve is beyond frustrating. You wait on a line outside, sometimes as early as 6am to get to work in time. There should be appointments...billing is also completely disorganized. You have no idea what you are paying for and it's hard to get in touch with someone to help
How was your experience with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
I'm writing this review so that I let it be known what a horrible experience I had at Reach, under the care of Dr. Katz. At one point i was told there must be "something wrong with my uterus" direct quote. It took me finally switching clinics and doctors and even states to realize how horrible this was. Once I saw a new doctor, he immediately diagnosed my problem and we moved forward for a successful implantation. Dr Katz wasted my time, my money, and more importantly my hope for being able to carry and get pregnant. For example: Every appointment at Reach i was told i had a fibroid, it was fine because it was in a spot that would not discourage me from getting pregnant. Little did I know, the fibroid was HUGE and 100% blocking me from getting pregnant. So much time was wasted and I sincerely wanted to make sure nobody else had this experience. You are not treated like a person, you are treated like a science experiment.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
Do not see him. Do not go to REACH. For an expensive, personal and emotional process you want someone that will treat you fairly, with respect and with your goals in mind.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
My protocol was not tailored to my needs. I could not get a hold of him until after a failed transfer. It felt like he wasted my time, money, and patience.
Describe the protocols Seth Katz used in your cycles at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
We did Letrozole and then a series of shots, including Gonal F, Certrotide. The only thing that changed was the dose but with the 2 retrievals i did he did not change much. I did not yield good results with either and the he made me feel like it was my fault.
Describe your experience with REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
There are honestly no strengths. I thought that them being open early for appointments was a strength but the fact that it's first come first serve is beyond frustrating. You wait on a line outside, sometimes as early as 6am to get to work in time. There should be appointments. There are so many people that they bring through, unless you are a textbook case where you don't need a tailored protocol, this place is not for you.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
Lines around the corner starting at 6am. You should be able to make an appointment rather than lining up and waiting.

When I met with Dr Katz I was about a week out from my second ectopic surgery that left me with no tubes. I was in a lot of Emotional pain. Dr Katz gave me answers and clarity when no one else could. I appreciate him for that. But there was no compassion for my situation. It was clear that this was business...Have a thick skin. He’s a funny guy and doesn’t sugar coat...He said that I would only be able to transfer one.
They [REACH clinic] succeed at what they do...It felt like they didn’t care about me. They had to make sure I had a higher success rate before accepting me and right after they did it went right into the financials...met with the nurse Susan to go over my protocol and Diane to go over financials I melted down. They were both very very sweet...purchase an insurance package that was 25000 that gives you 12000 back if you are unsuccessful.
How was your experience with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
He knows what he’s doing and I trust his knowledge. But I can’t get on board with over monetizing something as painful as infertility. When I met with Dr Katz I was about a week out from my second ectopic surgery that left me with no tubes. I was in a lot of Emotional pain. Dr Katz gave me answers and clarity when no one else could. I appreciate him for that. But there was no compassion for my situation. It was clear that this was business. If I had 25,000 I probably would have stayed. But That’s why I’m going with CNY. They genuinely care about helping people and affordable.

Have a thick skin. He’s a funny guy and doesn’t sugar coat.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
It felt like they didn’t care about me. They had to make sure I had a higher success rate before accepting me and right after they did it went right into the financials. They are supposed to be doing my monitoring when I receive treatment at CNY and they have been completely unresponsive. The nurse (Susan) and financial lady (Diane) where very kind to me.
Describe the protocols Seth Katz used in your cycles at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I was on a very standard IVF cycle protocol. No extra medications that I can recall. But I never got any meds from them. I got a protocol and the financial info the same day and that was the last of it
Describe your experience with your nurse at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Susan)
When I first went to reach I had no idea about IVF and was completely unprepared. So when I met with the nurse Susan to go over my protocol and Diane to go over financials I melted down. They were both very very sweet. Diane even started crying too. That meant a lot. That was really my only experience with the staff.
Describe your experience with REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
They succeed at what they do. As long as you have that kind of money it’s a good choice. I would have started my life as a new parent in debt and I don’t want that. I’m only 27. Maybe if I was older and established it would have worked out.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
The IVF cycle was 12000 not including meds. My total was around 25000. We were going to purchase an insurance package that was 25000 that gives you 12000 back if you are unsuccessful.
Describe Seth Katz's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).

Dr. Katz treated me very well...very warm and understanding. He was very compassionate to the issues we had been having and our fears. We brought a long list of questions to our consult and he answered everyone without ever making us feel rushed. He also was very LGTBQ friendly...We went to Dr. Katz for our second IVF cycle after being diagnosed with poor egg quality and not liking our previous doctor.
The are terrible and communication and their financial department [at REACH] has no idea what they are doing. You have to look in to your own insurance coverage and investigate yourself or you will lose money. You must be a constant advocate for yourself...The team forgot that I was even supposed to start Ivf. So I ended up rushing to get meds last minute. They all were going on vacation during this time so while I struggled to get meds last minute and get meds approved I talked to a different nurse everyday and they never knew what was going on. That is one example. I would say they are starting to improve their communication. Now they always answer the phone but I have to be a real advocate for myself and really know h the plan to make sure mistakes don’t happen.

Dr. Katz treated me very well but sometimes the communication thru his practice was lacking which made me feel like a number
Describe the protocols Seth Katz used in your cycles at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
We went to Dr. Katz for our second IVF cycle after being diagnosed with poor egg quality and not liking our previous doctor. He was wonderful and decided to do a very aggressive med protocol to try and get us as many eggs and possible. We didn’t do birth control like our previous cycle instead we did Lupron. We did gonal f, Omnitrope, low dose HCG, cetrotide and HCG trigger. We ended up with 15 eggs, 11mature, 9 fertilized, they all grew slow after that so we ended up with one day six and one day seven. We sent for pgs because we had no pgs normal our first retrieval. This time the day seven ended up being pgs normal. We transfer it in October! Dr. Katz felt the Omnitrope would be the big help with pgs results being improved so I am hoping that is what made the difference.

Dr. Katz was clear he would only transfer one embryo at a time.

The financial nurse told me to pay out of pocket for my meds to avoid using up my 10,000 max lifetime insurance coverage. Turns out she was wrong and it didn’t go towards it at all. We lost thousands. The nursing team forgot about me multiple times so I had delay in starting cycles or torture to get the right meds.

Dr. Katz is very knowledgeable. He is honest from the beginning and tells you like it is. He is not there for the run around. He recommended IVF from the beginning but agreed to try IUI and see if we got lucky because it is what we chose to do first as IVF is expensive. He does what he can to help financially with his admin team. Dr. Katz is very straight to the point and I really like that about him. He is a very friendly man and knows exactly what he is doing.
The only thing I would change is the office staff. The first time we walked into REACH we were there for our very first consultation. As nervous as we were we were hoping to see smiles and welcoming staff when we first walked in. That isn’t what we got. The front desk wasn’t very friendly nor approachable. If you ask me that is the first thing that makes a clinic great is the customer service. The front desk was very snippy and wasn’t helpful with questions or information

Listen to everything he says for he is extremely knowledgeable and he has seen it all.

Dr. Katz’s team is absolutely wonderful. They are very caring and they are always at your service. They will all try to help as much as possible including phone call follow ups, hugs, and calls to show they care. The team is exceptional and they always want what is best for you. They answer all your questions and treat you like you are important.
Describe the protocols Seth Katz used in your cycles at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I started with comid for 5 days and a trigger shot to do an IUI. I did this for 2 rounds. I have mild PCOS and my husband has a low sperm count. He recommended IVF and not to waste more money on another IUI as we have no coverage for it and had to pay out of pocket.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
The nursing staff is what makes his team absolutely amazing. They are who you see more than anyone and luckily I got the best. Every single nurse on Dr. Katz’s team is phenomenal. They are caring, detailed, and helpful with this hard process we go through. They will do anything it takes to make you feel comfortable and part of a family.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Katz was very helpful during consultation appointments. Answered all questions thoroughly and put us at ease. However, during the monitoring appointments, I often left the office unsure of the treatment plan. ... It felt like I was ushered in and out so that more patients could be seen. At times it felt like the doctors and nurses [REACH] did not want to answer my questions. ...

How was your experience with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Katz was very helpful during consultation appointments. Answered all questions thoroughly and put us at ease. However, during the monitoring appointments, I often left the office unsure of the treatment plan.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
Stay on top of your healthcare and your treatment plan.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
It felt like I was ushered in and out so that more patients could be seen. At times it felt like the doctors and nurses did not want to answer my questions.
Describe the protocols Seth Katz used in your cycles at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
Each cycle I did letrozole 5mg PO CD3-7 with an ovidrel trigger. I have done 3 cycles with this protocol and 3 IUIs. My 1st and 2nd cycle was completed by a RN. The 2nd cycle I experienced a horrible vasovagal reaction, passed out, lips turned blue according to the RN. The RN actually left me in the room alone with my wife at one point. And no physician of provider ever came to assess me prior to leaving the office. After this we decided to take several months off from the process. Once we finally started back, only the physician was allowed to complete my IUI due to my complaint about my treatment with the reaction.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
Communication is a definite weakness. The nurses were late releasing my lab results and treatment plan into my portal and were often rude when returning phone calls. My reaction to my second IUI also made me question the quality of nursing care. I am a nurse and I know how I expect to be treated after a vasovagal reaction and unfortunately I do not feel I received adequate care.
Describe your experience with REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
The financial department is unorganized, rude, and not helpful. They often bill you incorrectly. The lab department is wonderful and caring but somewhat unorganized. The front office staff is kind and always smiling.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
I do not remember the specifics.
Describe Seth Katz's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
I have not had IVF but I have completed an IVF consultation. My clinic will only transfer 1 embryo at a time. I personally prefer 2 embryos be transferred.
What specific things went wrong at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?

Describe the specific things that went wrong at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
Once I had my vasovagal reaction during my 2nd IUI with a RN, my primary RE (Dr. Katz) and his team were not notified of the reaction and no note was placed in my chart. It wasn't until I spoke with a different nurse and asked her what would be changed to prevent it from happening and I realized she did not know about the reaction. Neither did Dr. Katz. At that point I lost faith in my care for a little while.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
He [Dr. Seth Katz] is supportive and understanding, and I would recommend him to anyone. I appreciate his attention to current research, and the encouragement he provided to me in becoming a single parent...he is not judgemental, only encouraging...As a doctor myself I know how difficult it can be to communicate efficiently and listen to the patient. Dr. Katz, listens, is up to date on current research and has a wealth of experience in the field of fertility. He is compassionate, and encouraging. My trust in him is complete and I recommend his care to anyone.
The wait time to become a patient [at REACH] is not very long, however be aware of the doctor you are seeing and their “mindset” and experience. A weakness is that I cannot call 24/7 and start an IUI at a moments notice...this is a ridiculous weakness, as they always respond to my portal messages. The clinic is always open, no matter what. Snow storms, hurricanes, as long as you can make it there safely they will be there for you.
How was your experience with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Katz is one of the leading fertility doctors in Charlotte. He is supportive and understanding, and I would recommend him to anyone. I appreciate his attention to current research, and the encouragement he provided to me in becoming a single parent. I am also a doctor, practicing in a different field, and Dr. Katz has a way with patients that cannot be taught...it comes with exprerience as well as a born-with-it talent. He listens to his patients! When you truly listen to someone as a doctor, the problem, diagnosis and treatment becomes obvious.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
Do not be afraid of a consult. Information is key, and why not be more informed? This doctor has done his homework, so just show up, tell him your concerns and issues, and trust him.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?

Describe the protocols Seth Katz used in your cycles at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I have low AMH and am 34 years old. I have undergone an egg freezing procedure at another clinic where we retrieved 5 eggs. I was ok with my care, but knew I did not want to go through this again. Dr. Katz has known me for a few years (i had an hsg after an ectopic pregnancy 2 years ago) at his clinic. He can recommended to me because he is encouraging to single mothers and families with various dynamics...in other words he is not judgemental, only encouraging. I found this to be true in his manner as well as the staff at Reach.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
They cannot call you 24/7! They are amazing. I cannot complain. I emailed them constantly and they always answered, and were extremely kind.
Describe your experience with REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
It is expensive, however, you get what you pay for. The clinic is comfortable...the staff is kind and the doctors are wonderful. You will come home with a baby. Tell the staff a bit about your situation when you schedule a first visit. There are certain doctors that work better for certain situations. I am a single female, seeking to become a mother, and i would highly recommend Dr. Katz. The wait time to become a patient is not very long, however be aware of the doctor you are seeing and their “mindset” and experience. A weakness is that I cannot call 24/7 and start an IUI at a moments notice...this is a ridiculous weakness, as they always respond to my portal messages. The clinic is always open, no matter what. Describe the costs associated with your care under Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
The cost of an IUi is about 960. The cost of egg freezing through Reach is about 6,000 not counting medication.
What specific things went wrong at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
  • Failed to send your chart to another clinic
Describe the specific things that went wrong at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
The only thing that was a little difficult was getting some information sent over to another clinic, but this was very minor.

Seth Katz was kind and hopefull about my fertility. The major issues I had was that I was scheduled for an IUI and was told to schedule a hsg. I tried to schedule it and it never happened. I showed up for the IUI and asked again if I should go thru with it since a hsg was never done. I was told I should since i was already there. My results were negative and I scheduled a HSG thru my doctor and found out both my tubes were blocked
I felt somewhat like a number . The reason is you literally have to give your patient number when you call or leave a message . I will go on good faith and say maybe this is a extra measure to assure they know who is calling.... Over all the staff [REACH] is made up of friendly people and If I remember right they have good success rates. I personally had issues with scheduling and a confusing diagnosis that were never explained. If you are considering going here

My results were negative and I scheduled a HSG thru my doctor and found out both my tubes were blocked . So I spent $900 for a IUI that wouldn't have worked . Before that I was told on the day I had an ultrasound done that my egg follicles looked "beautiful" . Then when I went for a follow up on the same Ultrasound and to discuss what actions to take he said they look polycistic as in having pcos. I was diagnosed with PCOS. This was very confusing.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?

Describe the protocols Seth Katz used in your cycles at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I was told to use low amounts of clomid because of my age . Taking the clomid didn't help because, as I found out later both my fallopian tubes are blocked.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
The nursing staff were nice enough . I'm not sure who was responsible for scheduling but an important test didn't get done before a procedure and I wasted some money . I was given and IUI by a nurse and when she put the catheter in and pushed the syringe she said "I think it's in there" (cervix?)
Describe your experience with REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
Over all the staff is made up of friendly people and If I remember right they have good success rates. I personally had issues with scheduling and a confusing diagnosis that were never explained. If you are considering going here . Make sure to do your own research and maybe get a second opinion. Dr . Katz contradicted himself on my diagnosis and said I did not have PCOS and the next visit said I did and no test were done in between so this was very confusing.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
They are average for the area . $900 for IUI $100 for office visits (from what I remember)
Describe Seth Katz's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
I never made it to actually do ivf but I was told I could do one or two embryos per transfer.
What specific things went wrong at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?

Describe the specific things that went wrong at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
I was never scheduled for a HSG before doing an IUI. So it was upsetting to find out it was a wasted procedure that never would have worked. I later found out both of my fallopian tubes had been blocked

Dr. Katz is very personable. He is understanding of the emotional, physical and financial toll fertility treatment can take on a person and couple. He is very knowledgeable about different medical conditions and honest about potential outcomes. He is no nonsense, which I appreciate.
Stephanie (IVF coordinator) and Melissa (IUI, etc.) are extremely caring, professional and wonderful nurses. They understand both the medical and emotional aspects of fertility treatment and are an amazing asset to REACH...[For monitoring appointments] you wait in line, get paperwork, go for either blood work first or ultrasound first. It's a quick appointment and if you need to get into your workplace, this is great. This is not the time to ask questions of your nursing team.

If you have a question, ask. Don't be embarrassed or ashamed that you need something clarified or explained differently.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
In the beginning, I felt like I was just a number going through the steps. However, the longer I was in treatment and got to know both Dr. Katz and the amazing nursing team, I began to feel more like a human.
Describe the protocols Seth Katz used in your cycles at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
First, we tried three cycles of injections and timed intercourse. Next, we tried two cycles of injections and IUI. My gut said it was time to move on and Dr. Katz agreed. Then, we did an IVF cycle with retrieval and intent to freeze. Unfortunately, none of my embryos make it far enough for freezing. Finally, Dr. Katz presented my case to his fellow doctors and decided to alter my medications and do another cycle without egg donation. Even though other doctors in the practice felt my first IVF cycle was a clear indication that my eggs were of poor quality and unable to be successful in the future, he wasn't convinced. We proceeded with a new, aggressive protocol. The result was four embryos that made it to freezing. All four were thawed and transferred (also a risky decision) and today I have one amazing and healthy daughter. Today, we are trying for another child. We began with two IUIs. One resulted in a negative and one in a six-week miscarriage (likely due to poor egg quality). We are currently in the process of beginning another round of IVF.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
Fertility treatment is VERY expensive. IUI was approximately $2000 including medication (purchased elsewhere). IVF was approximately $12000 for all procedures, tests, appointments and medication (purchased from a separate place).

Dr. Katz is a very good listener and compassionate about the situation you are in. I felt that when we had scheduled office appointments to meet face to face with him in his office he was very attentive and would answer all of our questions....Leading up to egg retrieval there is no guarantee what doctor you will see....It became harder to know the treatment plan we I was coming in for monitoring because I was not seeing him each time. He can be blunt but in a way that can be appreciated.
One of the clinics strengths is the nursing staff. They [REACH- Charlotte] are very personable and great. It is also very convenient to have the lab right there in the building. This practice seems to be too busy for the staff they have. I felt that their finance team was pretty terrible to work with.... I did have a couple of monitoring and blood draw appointments where the date communicated to me were incorrect...Dr. Katz's nurse team was great.

One of the clinics strengths is the nursing staff. They are very personable and great. It is also very convenient to have the lab right there in the building. This practice seems to be too busy for the staff they have. I felt that their finance team was pretty terrible to work with. Our insurance does not cover anything, so we had to have more interaction with their finance and billing team. We had to pay for our treatment all upfront. They were very easy to reach and would follow up quickly prior to paying but became harder to reach once we paid. Our IVF treatment made it to egg retrieval but not to embryo transfer. After speaking with their team I believe that some of it was related to their onsite IVF lab.

Dr. Katz was always kind and straightforward during appointments. He told lots of stories of previous patients to give examples....Very rare to actually see Dr. Katz for an appointment. Saw multiple doctors during my time at REACH for monitoring. During my time at REACH (for all testing and 3 IUI's) I only saw Dr. Katz 3 times. Since the doctor's varied so much for monitoring the experience at each visit was different and no one actually knew me.
REACH is a very popular clinic in Charlotte and was used by several of my coworkers. Since it is such a large and bust clinic I really felt like just a number and that no one knew who I was. There are many doctors on staff and they operate with more of a team approach, which contributes to feeling like no one knows who you are. Each doctor varied widely in how much information they would give you in an appointment for monitoring.

During my time under Dr. Katz's care I completed three medicated cycles. Since I ovulate on my own and our diagnosis is Male Factor Infertility it was recommended we skip timed intercourse and go right to IUI. A low dose of Letrozole was used for each cycle. Dr. Katz picked this over Clomid based on side effects. My spouse was put on Clomid and a fertility blend vitamin to attempt to treat his Male Factor Infertility. I responded well to Letrozole each time (2-3 follicles) and and IUI was completed. Post wash numbers for the IUI's were never at the 10 million they were wanting. All cycles resulted in BFN.

He [Dr Seth Katz at REACH in Charlotte] never gave us false hope but always made sure we knew he would do everything he could to help us conceive. He cried both happy and sad tears with us and never made us feel pressured to do anything we weren't ready for. I never once questioned if my care was in the right hands.
They [REACH in Charlotte] are a wonderful clinic with a very competent staff. I saw several of the other doctors during cycle monitoring checks and they all seemed very professional and knowledgeable. Some seemed to be warmer than others, which is good since different patients want different types of doctors....initial diagnostic testing and procedures - $800 roughly surgery - $2,500 roughly IVF medications - $5000 roughly IVF procedure - $14,000
How was your experience with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Katz was compassionate and upfront about what we would be dealing with in order to conceive. He never "talked down" to us, like some doctors can do. He always made sure we understood what was going on, why he recommended certain treatments and what the next steps would be. He never gave us false hope but always made sure we knew he would do everything he could to help us conceive. He cried both happy and sad tears with us and never made us feel pressured to do anything we weren't ready for. I never once questioned if my care was in the right hands.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
Go in willing to listen to what he recommends. He is a very competent doctor who knows what the best treatment plan is for different fertility issues.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Katz is very sympathetic to his patients emotional situation but is also very candid and honest about your medical situation. He always explained in great detail our test and procedure results so we understood everything that was going on.
Describe the protocols Seth Katz used in your cycles at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
Our first step was trying to figure out why we weren't getting pregnant on our own. A blood test and hcg were done. During the hcg he discovered I had blocked/infected fallopian tubes as well as a low ovarian reserve. The next step was surgery to attempt to clear the blockage and infection from the tubes. He was upfront about the likelihood of removing one (and possibly both) of the tubes due to scar tissue and damage from the infected fluid. The end result was one tube was removed and the other, now cleared of infection, was in poor condition from scar tissue. He advised us our next step should be IVF since that was the only treatment option that completely bypassed the fallopian tube. Once we were ready (about a year later) we began IVF injections and monitoring. Our first cycle was canceled due to poor response to medications. Some adjustments were made to dosages and we began a second cycle. This cycle resulted in 6 eggs being retrieved, 5 were fertilized, two were transferred at 5 days and the remaining three were monitored for possible freezing. Of those three only one was viable to freeze, which we did. The two which were transferred resulted in a healthy twin pregnancy and live twin birth.
Describe your experience with your nurse at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Stephanie)
They returned calls very quickly and all questions were answered as soon as possible. They did everything they could to help, inform and support us. Stephanie was incredibly compassionate, she called, just to check on us, several times during our cycle. She was encouraging and sympathetic.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Katz was personable and positive. He was ready to answer all questions and layout our plan and made changes as we went. I was a little disappointed in the lack of follow up. After discovering I had a fibroid and removing it, I was unsure of next steps but had planned to start medication and never heard back from Dr. Katz.... After confirming my PCOS diagnosis, Dr. Katz started me on Metformin, got me prenatal vitamin samples, set up testing for my husband and saw something on an ultrasound so he set me up for an HSG. The HSG confirmed a fibroid in my uterus. He performed surgery to remove it and spoke of starting letrozole on my next cycle. He said that letrazole had better results for people than clomid.
They [REACH- Charlotte] provide coffee in the waiting area. They also offer free wifi. The main parking lot is very small but they do have an overflow lot that is slightly larger. The waiting area is nice but on the small side. It is a multi level office and can be a little confusing but there is signage to direct you. Also, staff is good about telling you at the time of setting an appointment what to do when you arrive.

Dr. Katz was very personable and understanding. He was very caring towards me as a person. He came up with a personalized treatment plan specifically just for me and was very involved in the process.... We used gonal f, lo dose hcg and omnitrope for my protocol. We also used testosterone prior to stimming. With the added use of the omnitrope for my diminished ovarian reserve we had much better results with icsi and I became pregnant with a Singleton.
This clinic [REACH] has wonderful providers and nursing staff. Even the lab tech and front desk staff are great. They are great at communication and also compassion. I highly recommend this practice. We will be returning when we are ready for baby number 2... [Cost Of Treatment] All in we spent about 35k. We used the attain program and all payment was due up front. The attain program was great... They promptly returned my emails and calls and answered all questions o had.

Dr. Katz was very thorough in his explanations, and what the next steps would be if I made choices to proceed with treatment. He was a good listener to my concerns and answer any questions that I had, or questions my husband had. I never felt rushed at any of the office visits...Dr. Katz suggested laparoscopy in order to make a diagnosis for the infertility. Results were blocked fallopian tubes.
Strength [at REACH- Charlotte] is they are very knowledgeable and compassionate. Weakness is that you have to leave a message every time you call, and then you will receive a call back. You cannot call and reach someone. The nurse even told me this at my very first visit...Nursing staff was friendly. I was only with them briefly before seeing Dr. Katz. Cost was expensive. The bill I received did not reflect final insurance payment, so I had to call and discuss to get it refiled again.
Describe Seth Katz's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
He gave his opinion that multiples were high risk, and the babies could be very sick. And that his clinic is actually "docked" (or would be in the future) for multiple transfers, since the medical cost after birth far exceeds single transfers.

Dr. Katz was the only doctor at the practice willing to take on my case as a single mother using known donor sperm. While initially hesitant, once I cleared all of the required psych evaluations he was 100% committed to my treatment. I mostly saw other doctors for mid-cycle checks and such, but Dr. Katz was always there for my procedures or any big tests.
While I feel like my actual care was handled well, the billing department [at REACH in Charlotte] was always a mess. I had partial insurance coverage and for some reason they could never get things billed correctly...Dr. Katz was always very willing to explain things to me, listen to my ideas and questions and had no problem letting me make decisions and recommendations regarding my own treatment. Melissa, his nurse was always warm and personable and very willing to communicate with me. The only times I felt more like a number was when I saw a different doctor for cycle check appointments.

[Dr. Seth Katz] put me on OI for a few months and when that was unsuccessful, he identified my endometriosis which had gone unnoticed for a long time. He did my surgery. He was correct that I had endo and he was able to come up with a treatment plan. We looked into ivf and then the pandemic happened...He was straight to the point and didn’t give me the run around which I appreciated.
The clinic [REACH] was quick and efficient but busy often. It felt impersonal but I know they are the best around so I trusted them. He [Dr. Katz] was very personable. Understood the frustrations of fertility. It’s been 4 years of trying and no success. 4 failed IUIs and 2 miscarriages before IUIs. Then he knew how it would be with endometriosis and told us IVF would be the safest and best way for us to be able to have a baby.... He explained everything in terms that my husband and I could easily Understand and was very caring as to how long of a process this has been with two miscarriages along the way
Nursing staff [REACH - Charlotte] was very on top of everything and knew Dr Katz wishes for my treatment... Very organized. Helpful staff and super clean. I would recommend them to anyone looking for fertility care. They offer insurance type programs as well as financing options. Staff was welcoming to my husband and I.... It’s going to be around $15K for one cycle and goes up from there.

Dr. Katz always made me feel like someone special. He would answer all of my questions honestly and would give me the answers that I needed to hear, not what I want to hear. He never let me leave feeling like I was just a number. I always left ready to come back for the next step. ... They [REACH] definitely stay on top of everything once your cycles start. The start process may seem slow but everything goes quickly once your cycles go. ... Selena and Kelly always made sure I had the answers that I needed when I would contact them on the portal. They never left me hanging. ... Dr. Katz always took his time to explain everything.... Dr. Katz has always answered my questions and put me at ease. He is good at what he does even if it's not always what you want to hear. I felt more comfortable knowing I was in capable hands whether it was just monitoring or my surgery.... Go in with an open mind and trust him. He will not stear you in the wrong direction.... I was scheduled for an appointnentnonce via phone that my husband and I both took off work for only to find out, it wasn't documented. We showed up for said appointment and the Dr. wasn't there because he didn't know about it.
Dr. Katz and his team are phenomenal. The billing department [REACH] however could use some major help. Just keep a close eye on what you are being charged for vs. What they bill your insurance for.... Always always use email to communicate. Dr. Katz and his team are phenomenal. The billing department however could use some major help. Just keep a close eye on what you are being charged for vs. What they bill your insurance for. You don't want to end up over paying and we all know this process can get costly.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
Cycle monitoring $700. Laparoscopy $1200. Copay $55.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
Always always use email to communicate. I was scheduled for an appointnentnonce via phone that my husband and I both took off work for only to find out, it wasn't documented. We showed up for said appointment and the Dr. wasn't there because he didn't know about it.

I found out I had endometriosis during my first pelvic ultrasound when dr Katz said "utt o". Ask lots of questions!
Made me wait to find out negative pregnancy tests. But Melissa was the nurse who told me I was pregnant and she didn't make me wait for those results.

[Dr. Seth Katz] He was very nice and professional but it seemed like he held back on additional information that he could have provided. After he told me everything he would have handled differently and expressed very vocally that he would be doing my next transfer...The medication and protocols used for me I would say the “standard” course of action for someone that doesn’t suffer from infertility, my husband does
[REACH clinic] Strength- the head nurse seemed to be very involved. However the quotes provided were more than double for my medicine which is absurd because I was told I was prescribed less than a standard patient...For checkups, egg retrevial, a transfer, and freezing two embryos we ended up paying a little over 20k...

After he told me everything he would have handled differently and expressed very vocally that he would be doing my next transfer. The person that did my transfer asked a lot of questions during it and it all seemed off.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
Come with a lot of questions and do a lot of research on your own.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
I felt like I was treated as a human because he answered any questions I had and spoke to me like a normal person. However, I felt like I had to pry at times to get answers which was aggravating because I didn’t always know the questions to ask. This was our first time undergoing IVF.
Describe the protocols Seth Katz used in your cycles at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
The medication and protocols used for me I would say the “standard” course of action for someone that doesn’t suffer from infertility, my husband does. He mentioned knowing I could handle more after the first round, we would “up the meds” if I wanted to do a second retrieval so we could get more eggs. He said he didn’t know how my body would react but now that he does we would take that course of action next time. We never had to stop treatment during my time.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
I do not feel like they were organized. I feel like they took on to many cases at once almost. My husband had frozen sperm banked elsewhere and they forgot to tell me I needed to have it transferred on my own after I filled out all the necessary paperwork due to a screening not being complete at the time he banked. The only reason it was addressed was because I followed up with them to make sure they had it. I feel like that’s a huge “uh oh”, I was doing my egg retrieval in just a few days. If I remember correctly, it was three days prior.
Describe your experience with REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
Strength- the head nurse seemed to be very involved. However the quotes provided were more than double for my medicine which is absurd because I was told I was prescribed less than a standard patient. One prescription was 10k, they quoted me around 3-5k total. As many patients as they see I don’t know how you could be so far off. I understand a quote is very much just that, a quote. But, this was very far off from the reality of what we ended up paying.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
It was a pretty long line that would start at a minimum of 30 minutes prior to the clinic even opening.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
For checkups, egg retrevial, a transfer, and freezing two embryos we ended up paying a little over 20k.
Describe Seth Katz's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
Dr. Katz only wanted to do one because “they don’t really like doing more than one” and I had a high chance of getting pregnant so it wasn’t really an option. I have two frozen, one with a higher grade and one with a lower. That being the case he said he would transfer two next time if I wanted. I felt like I should have had more of an option with the first transfer.
What specific things went wrong at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
  • Lost paperwork
  • Provided conflicting information
  • Failed to convey critical information
Describe the specific things that went wrong at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
My husbands Sperm was never transferred after they told me they were taking care of it. We had to sign the form for it to be released more than once because they lost it. All of this was right before my retrieval and was very stressful. I didn’t feel like I really mattered to the clinic. Just another number.

I never actually saw dr Katz again until my post op from egg retrieval to explain why it was a failure and didn’t produce a single embryo...We did 9 days of stimulations. I used a very moderate dose of medication not very strong because of endometrosis. At egg retrieval 12 eggs most of them damaged/cracked. It useable. Only 3 were mature. None of the eggs fertilized and I was left a voicemail at 630am the next morning stating that and could never get anyone to call me back.
[cost of REACH] $13k for ivf $5k for meditation $500 for mine and my husband’s genetic testing other fees. This is rough estimate...I used a very moderate dose of medication not very strong because of endometrosis. At egg retrieval 12 eggs most of them damaged/cracked. It useable. Only 3 were mature. How was your experience with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
He seems like a nice guy. I finally make a payment as we decide to move forward and that is when I was treated like a number not a patient who just spent entire savings to not receive proper care. I never actually saw dr Katz again until my post op from egg retrieval to explain why it was a failure and didn’t produce a single embryo.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
Ask him in the consultation if he ever plans on returning an email or call to any of his patients?
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Seth Katz at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic)?
He would never call me back. No one at the office answers the phone. You have to send messages and pray they respond before the cut off time for the day. Also seen a different dr each time.

Describe your experience with REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
When I arrived early am for egg retrieval staff on 1st floor check in were talking drinking coffee. I was the only patient in the room. I walked up to the window. So nervous I was shaking. Waiting for my husband to come be with me after giving sperm sample. They looked at me. No smile good morning or anything just turned back around and continued talking. They were about 4 ft from the glass window I was standing at. After making me feel so embarrassed just standing there for a good minute I realize there is a sign that says have a seat. I go sit down and what do you know. She grins at her coworkers, slides her rolling chair over to the window and opens the glass and says “name”? How unprofessional and childish. I was so hurt my this behavior. After retrieval dr Johnson left so fast they weren’t even able to get a dr to sign off for pain medicine. That should have been filled out already but it was included with several meds listed on one piece of paper and the pharmacy said they can’t do that ! We need a separate prescription for this ?! What are they thinking? So there’s that.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at REACH (Care Fertility Network clinic).
Very busy and when dr Johnson was doing my ultrasound I was trying to tell her about extreme pain I was having couldn’t sleep and could hardly breathe and she literally said “everything looks fine” and then started talking to the nurse who appeared to be new talking about the previous patient they seen. Nothing personal just making sure they had notes straight since nurse was slow. Next monitoring session PA is doing my ultrasound and takes time to pay attention and notices I’m so out of breath I can hardly speak, she checks my lungs and seemed very concerned for me then my egg retrieval was scheduled shortly after.
