the only time I met Dr. Ghadir was after I was already sedated and for about 15 seconds at the start of my retrieval...I did not find him credible. Worse, he occurrs as out of touch in interpersonal awareness. His talk of his peers made him occur as arrogant, petty, like a used car salesman
SCRC operated like a factory in a way that my other clinics did not...it truly felt like a money grind, and I never felt like a human...They decline transferring Mosaic embryos...Definitely some warm nurses at the blood draw. Ultrasounds went fine...It is your money, and you can choose from a wide array of professionals.
How was your experience with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Would not recommend whatsoever. From start to finish, I would say my experience: 2/10. As someone who leaves 5 stars on Yelp for 90% of businesses she frequents, please know this is not a common occurrence. Dr. Ghadir's communication, demeanor, interpersonal awareness, careless badmouthing of others in the ART community, were not to professional standard. He occurs as someone who has spent life in an echo chamber, not someone who has had to be present outside himself or with his patients. Beyond this, my ideal retrieval date (follicles were ready) fell on a holiday. By the time my retrieval was performed, it was late. While this could have occurred at any clinic (as timing is everything), I did not have an easy time reaching the doctor to adjust course of action. The reason I chose Dr. Ghadir was based on him preferring a protocol which others do less frequently. I would very much have chosen another doctor had I interviewed Dr. Ghadir first. I would have happily done another protocol, to have worked with someone more attentive, and who conducted themself with more dignity and care.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Really ask yourself if there is not someone better in SoCal. It is your money, and you can choose from a wide array of professionals.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
This was the worst retrieval experience. I was happy with all of the doctors I met whilst interviewing for my favorite, even the ones I did not select. However, for a final round, I was able to access fertility benefits. Dr. Ghadir was In Network at that time. (Note: Dr. Ghadir is at a different clinic at this time, no longer SCRC). I believe the only time I met Dr. Ghadir was after I was already sedated and for about 15 seconds at the start of my retrieval. The brief encounter I had chatting with him for protocol planning (4th round), in a very short interaction, he badmouthed a rival clinic and doctor. He also boasted about numbers in comparison. As someone who had researched those published statistics in advance, I did not find him credible. Worse, he occurrs as out of touch in interpersonal awareness. His talk of his peers made him occur as arrogant, petty, like a used car salesman. In a scientific professional dealing with our sensitive matters, quiet confidence always reassures. Dr. Ghadir comes off as someone who might never realize this truth.

Definitely some warm nurses at the blood draw. Ultrasounds went fine.
Describe your experience with Southern California Reproductive Center.
NOTE: SCRC is where I had a procedure. This review is for SCRC Beverly Hills, not for the new clinic of Dr. Ghadir. SCRC operated like a factory in a way that my other clinics did not. In a world wherein my employer was paying for 3+ IVF cycles, if I had already done 2+ in an attentive clinic and wanted to change it up just to see if their Lab would yield better results, I could see this being something to consider. That said, it truly felt like a money grind, and I never felt like a human. Also, some clinics have numbers slightly higher is a self-selecting process. They decline transferring Mosaic embryos (which have been proven to yield % healthy babies in emerging data). As of 2022, SCRC was not transfering Mosaic (low level, included). If there were another doctor I had felt were more caring at SCRC, I may have had a very different experience.

Dr Ghadir is the kindest doctor we have ever encountered in our IVF journey. After our embryos were created I was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer (not hormone driven). He was so kind and encouraging and once our first transfer began he held our hand every step of the way. It made the journey so relaxing and calm and we are forever grateful for him as our baby boy was born November of 2022.
The strength of this [Southern California Reproductive Center] team is the compassion, organization, and excellent care. The weakness is being a new patient and trying to get through to the office, but once your do, not a single regret and it out-ways the beginning hurdle...The nurses and team were kind and excellent at communicating. If we were struggling to understand something they took the time to explain it to us. Very sweet and compassionate!

Dr. Ghadir and his team are kind and caring. My husband and I were always treated kindly and with respect.

It’s all a blur with the cancer diagnosis but the Mock ERA was so important and we are so glad he recommended this as it helped with our first transfer being a success!

Describe the costs associated with your care under Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center.
Our costs were partially covered by our health plan which helped! The finance/billing department will look into this for you. Out of pocket costs were high but we managed with my husbands career as a firefighter/paramedic.
Describe Shahin Ghadir's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Southern California Reproductive Center.
Dr. Ghadir makes the recommendation of single versus multiple based off the mothers health. He is honest and that should be appreciated!

My husband and I appreciated how much Dr. Ghadir candidly expressed his perspective about the best steps to take for our fertility journey. When testing after our consultation determined that we were most likely struggling due to MFI, he directed us to move towards IVF, and with his leadership, we were able to move through the whole process to our current pregnancy (our first successful pregnancy after 4 years of ttc) within 6 months!...
SCRC is a beautiful center, right in the heart of Beverly Hills...I never waited long for bloodwork or ultrasounds (often being taken in as soon as I sat down!), and it felt like everyone knew my name personally...Even the financial records team has been exceptionally clear and professional, and I appreciated how organized every step of this process has been...

When testing after our consultation determined that we were most likely struggling due to MFI, he directed us to move towards IVF, and with his leadership, we were able to move through the whole process to our current pregnancy (our first successful pregnancy after 4 years of ttc) within 6 months! From Day 1 in our Zoom consult to the last day at my "graduation", he was direct and honest, and I am so grateful that his direction changed our life for the better; we simply cannot imagine doing any future transfers to grow our family again without him.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
I would advise a prospective patient to be sure to speak up and ask clarifying questions if needed! He is incredibly patient, and while he may speak quickly at times, he is always willing to answer any questions you may have with complete openness and honesty.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Dr. Ghadir, his clinical team, and truly everyone at SCRC made every effort to get to know myself and my husband throughout our journey with IVF. From our first consult to our recent "graduation" ceremony, Dr. Ghadir and the nursing staff (especially Nahreh and Angela), as well as those who took my measurements and blood (and shout out to Junior and Crystal), every member at SCRC took care of us both like we were family. They remembered birthdays, asked about my job as a teacher, and made us both feel welcome every time we entered the doors of the beautiful Beverly location. There was even a scare when I had to go to the Emergency Room due to complications from my Egg Retrieval, and it felt like every single member of the team reached out and offered their support through the whole process. I appreciate each member of the whole SCRC so much in making our miracle pregnancy happen!
Describe your experience with your nurse at Southern California Reproductive Center. (Assigned nurse: Nahreh and Angela)
I miss Angela and Nahreh, the nurses of my clinical team, already!!! They are truly lovely women, and speaking with them the afternoons of each of my appointments made me feel heard, understood, and most importantly, like family. They celebrated with me with the good news, and were empathetic when the results weren't yet what we were looking for. They even went above and beyond in ensuring that I was okay after a scary trip to the Emergency Room following a severe case of OHSS after my Egg Retrieval. Both women were always responsive to any late night questions I had, answering in the portal only minutes after I asked, and were exceptionally organized at every step of the process. Dr. Ghadir's clinical team (and literally every SCRC nurse I passed in the hallways) made me feel safe and supported every visit, and anyone would be lucky to have their support in their lives.
Describe your experience with Southern California Reproductive Center.
SCRC is a beautiful center, right in the heart of Beverly Hills. COVID safety protocols were clearly understood and upheld at every visit, and the space was always clean and bright. I never waited long for bloodwork or ultrasounds (often being taken in as soon as I sat down!), and it felt like everyone knew my name personally. From the front desk receptionists, to the woman taking my temperature when I walked in, to the incredible blood work team (thank you Junior!) and the check in team (thank you Crystal!), each person was welcoming and absolutely made this difficult journey infinitely easier. Even the financial records team has been exceptionally clear and professional, and I appreciated how organized every step of this process has been. This clinic has been a dream after the nightmares of our fertility journey, and I am so grateful I decided to choose SCRC as the place now responsible for my current pregnancy.

I’m grateful to have found Dr. Ghadir, even though I am still without a baby. He is honest and compassionate. We had a running joke that I was his favorite patient because I had been going to him for so long. You will not see Dr. Ghadir for routine lab work or ultrasounds. They have techs who handle that. So no, you won’t see him EVERY appointment. But he handled all of my cycles and major procedures.
The [Southern California Reproductive Center] clinic is beautiful, modern, and very clean. The staff is always friendly and very helpful. Hours are very accommodating for working patients. They are compliant with COVID mandates. Parking can be a challenge sometimes, as the structure fills up quickly...Compassionate, easy to communicate with

And when I miscarried, he wrapped his arms around me and just let me cry. I trust him completely and I feel safe, which is why I will continue my journey with him as my doctor.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Take notes and ask all the questions.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Whether it was a negative pregnancy test or miscarriage, Dr. Ghadir had empathy. He knew me, called to check up on me, was honest and up front during every cycle. He and his staff truly cared about me.
Describe the protocols Shahin Ghadir used in your cycles at Southern California Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
My AMH was low. Extremely low. So we decided to dive straight into IVF. I began stim meds to prep for an egg retrieval. I had purchased a package for 2 cycles. My body was not responding to the meds as Dr. Ghadir had hoped. He didn’t want me to hyper stimulate so I stopped. Failed cycle #1. I waited a few months and tried again, same outcome. I had no eggs. Premature Ovarian Failure. This is when we discussed using donor eggs. I chose my first donor and was genuinely excited. She ended up not responding to the stim meds, so I moved on to another donor. We got 17 eggs, and I ended up with 5 healthy embryos. We did an ERA before the first transfer of my only female embryo. We had a positive reception and moved on to the transfer. The transfer did not take. Neither did #2 or #3. We did another ERA and proceeded with transfer #4. And I got pregnant! It was the happiest 8 weeks of my life. I went in for an ultrasound during week 5 and 6 and everything seemed fine. My ultrasound in week 8 confirmed there was no heartbeat. Transfer #5 had the same outcome. Got pregnant and during the ultrasound in week 7, there was no heartbeat. I went for blood and ultrasounds every 3 days to check hormone levels and lining leading up to each embryo transfer.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Southern California Reproductive Center. (Assigned nurse: Angela )
I have to say, I think I might have loved Angela a little bit more than my doctor! She was just incredible. Compassionate, easy to communicate with, always available when Dr. Ghadir wasn’t. If I was second guessing myself, she would explain things again. Definitely a huge reason why I loved SCRC and Dr. Ghadir.

Dr. Ghadir is by far the most caring, professional, knowledgeable doctor we have meet...he recommended using donor eggs, as my issue was low egg reserve and next cycle could yield the same results. We highly appreciated the honesty and the options. Hence we tried tried fresh donor egg cycle, to which we were fortunate enough to get 8 healthy eggs for use, transferred 2, and ended up with a pregnancy with 1 baby boy...
The nursing staff [at Southern California Reproductive Center] was very friendly and caring throught my treatment. Always wished me well when we spoke...The clinic is very clean and beautifully decorated. IF there is anything that makes you uncomfortable they are sure to accommodate you as much as possible. How was your experience with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Dr. Ghadir is by far the most caring, professional, knowledgeable doctor we have meet. The clinic is extremely clean and is beautifully decorated. It does not feel like a clinic at all. They gave us the best gift during our last visit there, a framed onesie with our baby ultrasound picture. Thanks to the treatment recommended we are now 8 months pregnant. We will forever be thankful to him and his wonderful staff for all they've done for us. May he be blessed with many more years of health and success so that he can continue to help others as he has helped us.

Describe the protocols Shahin Ghadir used in your cycles at Southern California Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
We tried first cycle on myself. Unfortunately it had to get cancelled due to my eggs not reacting to the meds as expected. My 3ggs where not multiplying enough nor were they growing to the required size for retrieval. The doctor was very straight forward and explained we could keep trying as much as we wanted, but he recommended using donor eggs, as my issue was low egg reserve and next cycle could yield the same results. We highly appreciated the honesty and the options. Hence we tried tried fresh donor egg cycle, to which we were fortunate enough to get 8 healthy eggs for use, transferred 2, and ended up with a pregnancy with 1 baby boy. Dr Ghadir was nice. I appreciated his time to give evening phone calls to go over my test results. I did feel like he pushed for IVF and I was just not ready yet. We had been trying for 1 year and I wanted to start off with maybe IUI. I didn't have many interactions with him as I only went to SCRC for consult and testing...He seems to be too positive....he said we had a 20% chance of success with IUI and 80% chance of success with IVF
The billing department [at SCRC] is a mess...They billed my insurance wrong initially, which took forever to correct...Nurses were okay. They didn't really answer any questions...When I switched to my new RE, it took SCRC 3 weeks to send all my test results over. I called, left multiple voicemails at the medical recorder's office and sent emails with no calls or emails back...The office is very busy. Ask alot of questions and do research yourself. He seems to be too positive....he said we had a 20% chance of success with IUI and 80% chance of success with IVF. Other doctors I consulted with after gave a lower percentage of success. Also, I looked up SCRC's SART report and their IVF success rates are not nearly as high as 80%!
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
I never actually met Dr Ghadir in real life. We had one zoom consult and two phone calls. This review is more for the wait, the rest of the staff I encountered and most importantly, their billing department. The office is very busy. The first time I went in for blood work and an ultrasound, I was very confused. My appointment was for 9:30, and I didn't leave until 11:30am because there was no ultrasound room available. Alot of other people were also waiting. No one explained financials to me or whether or not my insurance covered anything. Good thing I actually called my ins company and verified everything myself. I have infertility coverage for all testing, IUI, and IVF and SCRC is in-network.
Describe the protocols Shahin Ghadir used in your cycles at Southern California Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
we didn't talk specifics because I only went through with consult and testing.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Southern California Reproductive Center.
Nurses were okay. They didn't really answer any questions. I was worried because they had found a cyst on one of my ovaries and when they told me the results, they couldn't answer my questions and just kept saying that the Dr will call me in a few days.
Describe your experience with Southern California Reproductive Center.
The billing department is a mess. If you have insurance, I would stay away. They billed 3 claims to the wrong insurance company (seriously, what's the point of verifying insurance if you can't even verify where to send claims to?) and I ended up with a huge out of pocket cost. Then, they were suppose to retract all 3 claims and rebill them correctly. They retracted only 1 claim and rebilled 3. It took about 20 phone calls between SCRC's billing department, my insurance company and 1.5 months for everything to finally reprocess correctly and resolve. Every insurance rep I spoke with couldn't believe how SCRC had messed up the billing, then not retracting claims, etc. After everything was fixed, instead of owing over $1000, my insurance paid for everything 100% and I had no liability. SCRC also charged us a copay of $25 each for ultrasound+bloodwork, and SA. After my insurance company paid for everything, a insurance representative told me that they are suppose to refund me the $50 since our insurance paid for everything. I am still waiting for the refund... My insurance representative told me that the genetic testing my husband and I had done needed prior authorization. The insurance verifier and the person in billing had no idea (what do they even do all day?!) but took my word for it and said that they would send authorization and retro-date it for the genetic testing we had done. It took 3 weeks for them to send authorization. And guess what? They sent authorization for the WRONG kind of testing. They sent it for PGS testing of embryos! I was livid when I found out---we hadn't even started IVF yet so of course we have no embryos. No one even looked at my files. My new RE sends authorizations in a timely manner (1-2 days, not 3 weeks) and bills my insurance correctly.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center.
It's expensive. They billed my insurance wrong initially, which took forever to correct. But once corrected, my insurance paid for all consults, and testing. I have a $25 copay for all office visits. SCRC charged me $25 for every visit even though it was just labwork. I called my insurance and was told that this is fradulent! Since they are in network with my insurance, and my insurance pays 100% for all labwork, I am not suppose to pay the $25 each visit. I have emailed SCRC about this and am waiting for a refund/answers back.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at Southern California Reproductive Center.
When I switched to my new RE, it took SCRC 3 weeks to send all my test results over. I called, left multiple voicemails at the medical recorder's office and sent emails with no calls or emails back. I also requested SCRC to send test results to me so I can have them as a personal copy and am still waiting on that....5 weeks later. When they finally sent all my results over, Dr Ghadir called me and said "when you go to your new clinic, do your research but please ask them what their IVF success rates are because that clinic doesn't have very high success rates" ........anyways, I did do my own research and compared SART reports and they actually have higher IVF success rates at my new clinic than SCRC's success rates.

I went in to freeze my eggs for future use. I had an AMH level of 1.05 which is very low...[Dr. Shahin Ghadir] suggested I do it now and that I not overthink. He said many people with low fertility numbers think about it so long that they sometimes miss their opportunity. At 1st I thought this might be a bit pushy, but it wasn't he was right! I started the process the following week...truly connected with me on a human level.
I was a patient during the pandemic and they [Southern California Reproductive Center] did everything to accommodate their patients, they were incredibly efficient and went above and beyond. I was always in and out in a very timely manner...[nurse] called me to check in on how the hormones were effecting me and would pop in on different blood draws to make me feel comfortable. She also met with me on 2 other occasions when I had questions and was feeling emotional. She made me feel like I was her only patient.
How was your experience with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
He answered every question I had in detail and made me feel special. I did not feel like just another person walking through his door. I also had a different experience as I was a patient during the Covid Pandemic. His office made me a priority as I had a very low AMH test score. My consultation was over the phone, but at my 1st appointment for blood draws and an ultrasound before starting the egg freezing process he came and met with me to give me more detailed information and congratulate me on taking a leap for my future.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
I would say to trust him and the process. Don't be afraid to ask lots of questions and get your money's worth with every question and piece of advice.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Dr. Gahadir made me feel very comfortable and answered every question I had. He told me about his wifes struggle with infertility and truly connected with me on a human level.
Describe the protocols Shahin Ghadir used in your cycles at Southern California Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
I went in to freeze my eggs for future use. I had an AMH level of 1.05 which is very low at my phone consult he suggested I do it now and that I not overthink. He said many people with low fertility numbers think about it so long that they sometimes miss their opportunity. At 1st I thought this might be a bit pushy, but it wasn't he was right! I started the process the following week. I tlaked to a number of woman who debated freezing their eggs and unfortunately missed their window. I have done 1 round of egg freezing. At the start of the process he hoped I would get 10-15 eggs, but unfortunately my body only dropped 5 eggs. He adjusted my expectations as we moved through the process. During my surgery he was able to collect all 5 eggs I produced and 4 of the eggswere large enough to be frozen.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Southern California Reproductive Center. (Assigned nurse: GABY!!!!! )
I mainly worked with Gaby in Dr. Gahadir's office and she went above and beyond. She came down to meet me durig\ng my first blood draw and ultrasound. She called me to check in on how the hormones were effecting me and would pop in on different blood draws to make me feel comfortable. She also met with me on 2 other occasions when I had questions and was feeling emotional. She made me feel like I was her only patient. I was so fortunate to have her as my nurse and I look forward to working with her in the future and knowing shes on my side. She truly loves her job and it shows. I also loved so many people in the lab they made me feel so comfortable. I had blood work 3 days a week and never once had bruising. The staff is so gentle! I also loved Maria who worked in the lab area she knew my name after my 1st appointment and was so encouraging. Maria glows when she talks about helping woman acheive their fertility goals. Being in this office actually made me want to work there.
Describe your experience with Southern California Reproductive Center.
Honestly, I have no complaints about the clinic. I really didn't see any weaknesses. I was a patient during the pandemic and they did everything to accommodate their patients, they were incredibly efficient and went above and beyond. I was always in and out in a very timely manner (like 10-15min), though I have been told that normally you would wait much longer and that times were shorter because of all the restrictions due to Covid-19. My advise would be to use them!!! They are pricy, but I can't put a price on my dreams.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center.
I spent $8,000 on the egg retrieval process which included all appointments in the cycle for my fertility treatment, my surgery and 2 post operation appointments. I paid $3,800 for my medications. My insurance didn't cover anything so this was all out of pocket.

I was prescribed medications for an egg freezing cycle, and Dr Ghadir was attentive and detail orientated when it came to adjusting my doses depending on how I was feeling and my blood/ultrasound results...He took the time to explain the process to me step by step and listened carefully to my concerns while being honest. From the start of the process he was thoughtful, caring, and positive. His compassion and attentiveness during the entire process made an emotional experience easy to navigate...is a brilliant doctor, yet at times felt more like a friend which was exactly what I needed during this process. He was easy to speak to and I never hesitated to ask him to explain things to me over and over again if I needed. Upon each visit, he let me know what to expect going forward, specifically how I would be feeling mentally and physically.
Gaby, Dr Ghadir's nurse [at Southern California Reproductive Center], made sure to check in with me to see how I was doing during the process. She was extremely helpful and accommodating when it came to scheduling my next appointment, refilling my medications, or answering any questions I had. She was knowledgeable while also compassionate and I appreciated her support during this journey...I appreciated their flexibility during scheduling, especially the fact that they are open super early. I was able to do my labs and ultrasound before work. Wait times were average for doctor's visits and the waiting rooms was clean, comfortable, and spacious.

Dr. Ghadir has been very careful about adjusting my shots and medication as the cycle has progressed...I cannot recommend him more highly. Dr. Ghadir set clear expectations, answered all my questions, and helped me achieve a fantastic result from a medical standpoint. My experience with him was nothing but pleasant. He also recommended a few additional holistic techniques and supplements which I believe helped me achieve optimal results.
If you're paying 100% in cash, SCRC might be right for you. Otherwise, save yourself the headache of having to project manage your claims alongside an already emotionally and physically taxing process. ... There were several times that my insurance coordinator did not answer my calls or emails, resulting in me needing to inform my doctor to nudge the department to give me an answer. The department also refused to respond to messages from my insurance company or HR even though both were proactive in reaching out to fix issues. I was also cheated out of ~$1200 because the billing department coded my surgery incorrectly. When I tried to fix this, I was consistently transferred between departments, none of which accepted responsibility or seemed to be knowledgeable enought to remedy the issue. I eventually decided to cut my losses as I was spending far too much time on this to be worth the money.

Describe your experience with your nurse at Southern California Reproductive Center. (Assigned nurse: Gaby)
My nurse explained concepts and producures well enough if the patient came from a place of limited to no understanding. When I asked more detailed questions though, I did not always receive a sufficient answer. Additionally, I would sometimes receive information throughout the process that I felt I should have received on day 1 or a few weeks earlier.
Describe your experience with Southern California Reproductive Center.
DO NOT go to this clinic if your egg freezing is partially or fully subsidized by your employer. They are close to incompetent when it comes to matters of insurance approvals and correct billing. My surgery was delayed 2 weeks due to them not obtaining the proper approvals, even though I let them know on day 1 what was required. I can’t forget the moment he [Dr. Ghadir] called me to let me know that my only one embryo came back from genetic testing healthy and successfully. He was so excited and emotional that I felt I am part of his family and I am very important to him. These are human beings qualities! He is amazingly caring, responsible, friendly, generous, and considerate , respectful. During the hard weeks of waiting to get the tests result of my IVF, he called me even during weekend hours and this is really appreciated. Dr. Ghadir has made me feel I am in safe hands... He helps me feel empowered to battle with my infertility issues. I have got unexpected good result with him while other doctors had made me hopeless. He is truly professional, smart, always kind, and compassionate doctor. He is best fit and I feel so lucky to have found him. He really took me from vulnerable place and made the experience very positive. His integrity and caring for me and others is above and beyond.
I am diagnosed with very low ovarian reserve. I used same protocol [at Southern California Reproductive Center] for two egg retrievals. She does whatever it takes to help their patients with whatever their health care needs require. She is so affectionate and so devoted. She has excellent communication skills. She makes the process as easy as possible you somehow become part of family. Gabby is a nurse in the office. She is sweet, understanding and caring person. How was your experience with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Dr. Ghadir was very kind and easy to talk to when we were meeting - although he often seemed rushed and sometimes pushy. At first he seemed cautious and then once we had success with freezing healthy embryos he became very positive. His positive attitude is what made us feel confident to move forward but then we did not have success we felt tricked.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
I would advise people to be weary of his positive attitude, to take it with a grain of salt.

Dr. Ghadir suggested I see a rheumatologist as that is what he thought was the cause of my miscarriages. If were to try again, even without Dr. Ghadir I would continue to see my rheumatolgist -- he put me on several meds including a blood thinner shot.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at Southern California Reproductive Center.
There were two nurses that I worked with via email, but I don't feel like I really ever saw them. The person I connected most with was the ultra sound technician -- she was great!

He [Dr. Shahin Ghadir] truly understands how delicate this process is, therefore I felt like he took care of me as if we were family. He is warm and very intelligent. He knows everyone, so he would always have a good referral for a doctor or anything that we would ask him. He would calm me down because I would get very nervous before every treatment. And he would even throw the occasional joke to make me relax when I needed it. I truly appreciate having him as a doctor. For me, he's the best doctor I've ever met.
There's plenty of staff there [at Southern California Reproductive Center] to see everyone at a fast pace. The nurses are very friendly, so are the ultrasound technicians and the phlebotomists. Their billing department runs very efficiently. Their scrub nurses are amazing and so are the embryologists team. They have a lab in house so you would get blood test very fast...take care not only of the medical part, but the emotional part of the process, which to me was very important. I never felt alone during the treatments and they would always answer any questions with infinite patience. I'm very grateful to have found them.

I always felt compassion and cared for at the clinic. Dr. Ghadir and his team take care not only of the medical part, but the emotional part of the process, which to me was very important. I never felt alone during the treatments and they would always answer any questions with infinite patience. I'm very grateful to have found them.
Describe the protocols Shahin Ghadir used in your cycles at Southern California Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
I don't remember. I'm 8 and a half month pregnant. My memory is not too good at the moment. But I'm pregnant thanks to him and his team.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Southern California Reproductive Center. (Assigned nurse: Ari Mehdizadeh)
Ari took care of me like a godmother. She made sure to confirm all my ultrasounds and procedures appointments, have my prescriptions filled and refilled, even found a nurse that could inject me at my house when I needed it. Angela Ho, received me every appointment and made the calls for the prescriptions, confirmed the ultrasounds appointments, gave me injection instructions and always made sure to remind me to drink lots of liquids. Honestly, they are the best!
Describe your experience with Southern California Reproductive Center.
The clinic is extremely clean and organized, which for me is very important. Their appointments run very fast so you are not waiting there for a long time. There's plenty of staff there to see everyone at a fast pace. The nurses are very friendly, so are the ultrasound technicians and the phlebotomists. Their billing department runs very efficiently. Their scrub nurses are amazing and so are the embryologists team. They have a lab in house so you would get blood test very fast. That is a plus!

[Dr. Ghadir] basically explained the best 2 eggs transferred would have best chance to survive. We transferred two, incase one did not take...liked the treatment overall. But I primarily dealt with the nurse. And when told I was not pregnant, he did it on the speaker phone. That part was very impersonal to me...strong faith in his ability to assist. needs to work on how he delivers the news
I had more communication with [SCRC nurse] than anyone. She was able to calm me down when I was overwhelmed by the process and quick to answer questions or forward my inquiry to the doctor...They are willing to work with your insurance to cut some cost (blood work, STD test, etc). I did appreciate that. And they kept good records as we paid as we went. Each bill was paid and they gave us all copies
How was your experience with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
strong faith in his ability to assist. needs to work on how he delivers the news. pick the phone up, not speaker, as it is such a horrible thing to hear. We want to know the person cares or at least fakes it
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Ask how often he expects to actually engage the client. The office has really grown. Recently remodeled. Wonder if that is now part of the cost.

im sorry, I dont remember. I just remember giving myself shots and getting eggs that were viable. I did not have any bad reactions to anything. My follicles were low I remember he told me to up the dosage of something.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Southern California Reproductive Center. (Assigned nurse: Maria Bueno)
Maria Bueno was the nurse. I had more communication with her than anyone. She was able to calm me down when I was overwhelmed by the process and quick to answer questions or forward my inquiry to the doctor. Very caring person. I will not forget her.

Nice office. They went through a renovation that made the place even more beautiful. They are willing to work with your insurance to cut some cost (blood work, STD test, etc). I did appreciate that. And they kept good records as we paid as we went. Each bill was paid and they gave us all copies. I dont consider it a weakness, just that I noticed after the renovation, the desk staff seemed more busy and not as chatty. I think more business took away some of the one on one feeling to me.

I felt I was very educated [by Dr. Ghadir] on why single embryo transfer was a good decision for me given the high likelihood I would become pregnant and specific medical situation...was invested in my personal situation and was aware and engaged in not just my medical history but the factors in my life that contributed to my fertility decisions...was someone I could implicitly trust and count on. In a sea of emotional decisions that had to be made he was a steadfast guide who knew just how to balance a compassionate bedside manner with objective medical expertise.
I found SCRC to be exceptionally professional and I found it to be a very curated and high end experience---which was a refreshing change from my past medical experiences. I also found the patient liaison to be exceptionally helpful and the concierge service they made available made my experience very smooth as all my questions were always answered and I felt very secure in the level of medical skill I was getting at the practice.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
I would advise any future patient of Dr. Ghadir's to be completely open and honest about their fertility goals and the mitigating factors that impact their decisions including finances so that he can make sure his treatments take your full life picture into account.

How was your experience with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Dr. Ghadir is a very friendly and encouraging fertility specialist that is realistic at the same time. He doesn't waste my time with treatments that may or may not work and suggests to go the route with the best possible outcome. I have not noticed any weaknesses up to this point.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Call the clinic before you schedule an appointment, ask for Ari and ask all questions you have. She may or may not have the answers, but the more answers you get before your consultation, the more time you have to understand the details the Dr. will be providing you with. Due to the location, leave a bit earlier than usual, the roads can be very congested and you may not find parking right away. You don't want to be late, but if you are, call into the office and let them know. They are very understanding. IVF is expensive, so make sure you ask about alternative possibilities that the Dr. can help you with.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
I feel like a human, because Dr. Ghadir and his team are the first ones to actually listen to me and my concerns. They ask me if i have questions and if i do, they take the time to answer them. I have never received any fertility medication in eight years. I gave up when doctors simply just told me i couldn't get pregnant and Dr. Ghadir told me there is no way that anyone could predict that type of outcome without doing several tests. We have just started with Dr. Ghadir, so we haven't done any meds or anything yet, but when i met them in person, i actually, for the first time in 8 years, felt hopeful that we could have a child in the future and if it's in my cards, i will be a loyal patient to him and his team until the end.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Southern California Reproductive Center. (Assigned nurse: Ari and Maria)
The care coordinator takes all the time she has to make you feel comfortable. The only thing i was not happy about was the fact that i tried to get a hold of her one time and didn't get a call back until almost a week later, but when she explained that she fell behind with calling patients back, because she was unable to answer the phone as she was helping patients in person, i definitely understood. She is super nice and caring and you don't feel like just another person that cannot afford IVF. She really cares about you, your journey and your feelings. If you ever have trouble reaching her, write her an e-mail instead, she will be more available through that outlet. If you have issues at all with the communication, i found that approaching it was the best thing i could have done. Getting those awkward assumptions right out of the way. Maria, the nurse is also very nice, but i have not had as much contact with her just yet. She always responds to e-mails promptly and if she is near the phone she answers it quickly. I am actually excited to go the route with them, because i feel well taken care of.
Describe your experience with Southern California Reproductive Center.
I haven't been there often yet, but i like how friendly it is and you feel very comfortable there, even in the waiting area and you don't wait a long time until you see your Dr. Its also very clean and you don't feel like you have to worry about catching anything in their bathrooms, either
Describe the costs associated with your care under Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center.
Because we need authorizations before any and all services, we weren't able to do many tests, but we were able to do genetic testing and they made sure that our insurance was going to cover it before they did anything. They explained to us what cost was going to be expected and then sent a bill in the mail that we paid off very easily right away. It was $30 for drawing blood.

[Dr. Shahin Ghadir is] Personable, warm and compassionate...he is results driven and wants you to get pregnant as much as you do. His communication was direct but warm and he did a good job of keeping you motivated whilst being thorough with tests and exams. The challenging part is that Drs don't always understand how much the costs can escalate...[protocol] FET - Higher success rate...Uterine Biopsy - to ensure embryo transfer date was correct after 2 failed transfers
[Monitoring at Southern California Reproductive Center is] Really easy, i would go in early before 8am and be taken within 20 mins...Strengths - All front line staff including phlemotomists ( i hate blood draw and they were amazing here. Even let me lie down a few times to have it drawn. Ultrasound techs - were amazing at communicating and your biggest cheerleaders...Front desk staff always knew you too and were very mindful of your present situation. Only fault was back office billing staff were pretty poor at communication and impossible to contact

As mentioned before there was one nurse who worked part time who made multiple errors such as alerting the Dr that I was ovulating meaning I missed iui window. I was also given the wrong calculation for FET. There were no disasters just re-inforces you have to be aware and double check details you are given and take responsibility for your own care

When I would call Dr. Ghadir with a question or concern, he would seem a bit annoyed. I never really go a sense that he had a plan. I have learned so much since I had IVF at SCRC, and I do think Dr. Ghadir could have been a lot more thorough and followed up much better when the IVF did not work. ... All the monitoring is done by an ultrasound technician. ... his schedule is so limited in Ventura and he is almost never in Santa Barbara, that I would only be able to have brief conversations with him over the phone in which he seemed occupied, and even annoyed that I had questions.
The Santa Barbara [Southern California Reproductive Center] clinic's significant weakness is that they were perpetually short-staffed. The staff seemed to take no delight or pride in staying organized. ... I kept receiving bills for services that had already been paid for as part of the IVF procedures. ... They also need to have embryologists whose sole job is to be an embryologist-and not an office manager.
How was your experience with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
I would imagine that Dr. Ghadir is probably a rock star at the Beverly Hills location. However if you are a patient of his in Ventura County, be aware that (during the time that I was a patient there) he is only in the office in Ventura one day every other week. All of the ultrasounds are done by an ultrasound technician, and often, the patient needs to drive all the way to Santa Barbara for a simple ultrasound.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
I would say do not go if you are considering the Ventura County location. Be aware that SCRC is an extremely busy clinic, and you have to really advocate for yourself in order to get your questions answered.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
During the first meeting with Dr. Ghadir at the Ventura office, he was attentive and seemed thorough. However, as my fertility treatments progressed, I was only to see Dr. Ghadir a few more times in person. All the monitoring is done by an ultrasound technician. All of the procedures were done in the Beverly Hills location from a different doctor. When the procedures did not work, his schedule is so limited in Ventura and he is almost never in Santa Barbara, that I would only be able to have brief conversations with him over the phone in which he seemed occupied, and even annoyed that I had questions.
Describe your experience with Southern California Reproductive Center.
The Santa Barbara clinic's significant weakness is that they were perpetually short-staffed. The staff seemed to take no delight or pride in staying organized. I would often have to make several calls to get a question answered. I kept receiving bills for services that had already been paid for as part of the IVF procedures. When I questioned these bills I was told curtly there was no record that I had paid. I happened to make copies of the check and the receipt that they had given me, so of course they were forced to dig a little deeper and find that they had just left a check in a pile somewhere. Even after that was resolved I still received invoices that stated I would be sent to collections if I did not pay. IVF is challenging enough, but having to sort this out in addition and also sort it out with the EMBRYOLOGIST who is also the office manager is especially challenging. The ONE embryologist (at the time of my IVF procedure) was also the office manager and in charge of all the billing receipts. Now that I know how important the lab is, all I can say is this lack of organization does not inspire confidence in the lab. It was challenging for me to ask the person who would be handling my embryos to also go over my file and make corrections on the billing. I know the Beverly Hills lab has a great reputation, but I really think that they are just trying to grow the enterprise in Ventura and Santa Barbara, and they really needed to have physicians that were there at Ventura and Santa Barbara full time. They also need to have embryologists whose sole job is to be an embryologist-and not an office manager.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center.
The costs of IVF were about $5000 than a neighboring clinic.

Be prepared for him [Dr Ghadir] to want to do the maximum number of medicated IUI cycles...During Clomid/IUI cycles I would only see Dr. Ghadir for the IUI, assuming he was in the office that day. I twice had other doctors do the IUI. Once I moved to IVF I saw him a lot more. He did the retrieval surgery and 2 of the 3 transfers. Since becoming pregnant I have seen him every week. I would usually only hear from him on the phone for the results of betas.
The nice thing about SCRC [Southern California Reproductive Center] is there are 5 doctors in the office, so there is always at least one there for IUIs and transfers. The front desk staff is amazing and always kind. If you go between about 9-11:30 it is going to be busy, and you can expect to wait anywhere from 15-45 minutes before being called back....Maria and Ludi are the two main nurses I worked with. Both we wonderful. They were very helpful any time I had questions. They were also good about emailing back the same day if I emailed them before 4pm.

I was always greeted by name, even when I hadn't started signing in. The nurses I worked with were always very kind and helpful, even when I asked potentially silly questions.
Describe the protocols Shahin Ghadir used in your cycles at Southern California Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
For the first medicated cycle I was put on 100 mg of Clomid. When that only produced one mature follicle I was placed on 150 mg of Clomid for the other 5 cycles I did. I usually grew 2-3 mature follicles before triggering. Once I moved to IVF I was put on Gonal-F, Menopur and Cetrotide. I started at a higher dose, and after my first monitoring appointment had the meds reduced to avoid OHSS.

Ultrasounds are $220, Blood work varies depending on what you have tested. IUI was around $250 each time. A full IVF cycle was around $10,600, which included every appointment and blood draw once you started stim meds through the first beta. FETs are about $2600, which included every appointment and blood draw once you started meds through the first beta.

He [Dr Shahin Ghadir] listened and asked questions. Not long after we our consultation, he ordered lab work. Each time results came back, he personally called either myself or my husband to reveal the results. Oftentimes these phone calls were in the early evening hours. I appreciated his direct contact with us. My condition required me to have a hysteroscopy to remove uterine polyps. Dr. Ghadir came to see me both before and after performing the surgery. During my actual IVF cycle, I dealt mostly with the office staff. He did perform the retrieval and transfer. During these times his was quick and efficient. I was seen for appointments within 15 minutes of my assigned time and the medical staff was always efficient. The clerical staff was not as warm and inviting as I would have liked. I was often left to figure out things like where to go for blood draws or the location of the nearest restroom on my own. Billing was a bit chaotic, so be sure to check your invoices and statements. On-site parking was pricey and limited, but there is a drug store around the corner with a public parking lot which is much larger and economical.
How was your experience with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
During our initial consultation, Dr. Ghadir was running late but very apologetic. He listened and asked questions. Dr. Ghadir called me to reveal my positive pregnancy test results. During the post-treatments (he asked that I have weekly ultrasounds in his office for the first 10 weeks) he was present for each and discussed what he was on the ultrasounds.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Keep a notebook to jot down questions and information you receive in the office and over the phone. This is a very fast-paced office! While his office truly is organized and on top of things, the process can seem very chaotic. Also, look into financing before beginning the process. The company they refer you to for financing has astronomical interest rates. Which just adds one more stress to an already chaotic process.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
I felt most like a human when dealing with Dr. Ghadir in person. Over the phone he seemed rushed and spoke very fast. Oftentimes when dealing with the office staff and nurses, I felt like a number. My encounters with them, both in-person and via phone, were all monotone and repetitious.
Describe the protocols Shahin Ghadir used in your cycles at Southern California Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
I took twice daily injections of Lupron, Menopur, and Follistem for a little under three weeks. After each ultrasound and blood draw a nurse would contact me to discuss modifications to dosages. If I recall correctly the only real changes were in the Menopur. The ultrasounds started at about 3-4 days apart and gradually became closer. The last week I was at the office on a daily basis. The day before retrieval I gave myself an injection (can't remember name) and it had to be given at an exact time of day. The nurse was very clear about the time frame I had for administration of this medication.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Southern California Reproductive Center.
I dealt with my assigned nurse (and a few others when she was off) mostly over the phone after ultrasounds and blood draws. During the calls she gave me new dosage information. She never offered any insight into what was seen on the ultrasounds or asked how I was dealing with the effects of hormones. On occasion I had questions and would leave messages for the nursing staff. (It seemed the nurses were never available to answer the phones.) My phones calls were always returned.
Describe your experience with Southern California Reproductive Center.
Southern California Reproductive Center is a busy, busy place. (I would assume this has to do with the knowledge-base and experience of the doctors.) It seemed that everyone was effectively performing their job, but they forgot that I was new to the process. So sometimes I felt a little lost and would have appreciated if someone had taken the time to explain things more slowly and clearly.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center.
One cycle of IVF was approximately $15,000 paid to Southern California Reproductive Center. The drugs were about $3500 paid to an outside pharmacy. All ultrasounds and blood work done from the first injection to the pregnancy test were included in the cycle. All other (pre- and post- IVF cycle) procedures were not included They offered a package for women under a certain age (can't remember exact age) for few thousand dollars more (can't remember the exact price) that ensured you another cycle should the first not result in pregnancy. Now the catch is that if you had a miscarriage after the first round of IVF, the second cycle was null and void.

Before getting a referral to see him, I had been dismissed by multiple OBs over the length of time I had unsuccessfully been trying to conceive as well as suffering with prolonged heavy periods. My consultation with Dr. Ghadir was like a breath of fresh air and on my 2nd visit, he found the cause of my heavy periods which was a large polyp in my uterine cavity as well as discovering both my tubes were blocked at the ends by my ovaries.
The front office staff is courteous and always remembered my name. My calls were always returned the same day, and if an emergency came up in the middle of the night, someone was always available or my doctor could be paged. The ultrasound and lab techs were very friendly which is nice when you're in almost daily. The office itself is very inviting and cozy. One downfall would be lack of available street parking on week days and the expense using the clinic's parking garage. But on the plus side, it's a one stop shop for all your needs from doctor consultations to surgery center, and there's even a specialty pharmacy across the street if you need to quickly refill a medication.
How was your experience with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Dr. Ghadir has a warm demeanor and his confidence put me at ease. He is compassionate but very matter of the fact when it comes to discussing diagnosis and treatment options. He is highly knowledgeable and skilled in reproductive endocrinology and I did eventually get pregnant under his care. However, he was unable to complete an out of pocket hysterscopic surgery at his clinic to remove my polyp which set me back a month to begin IVF while I waited to have the surgery repeated at a hospital operating room under my health insurance plan with a regular OB who was able to complete the surgery with no issues.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Don't let your impatience to get pregnant let you make hasty decisions. I threw money away on a surgery my insurance covered because SCRC could get me at an earlier date only for the surgery to not go as planned.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Shahin Ghadir at Southern California Reproductive Center?
Dr. Ghadir treated me with compassion, listened to me, and took my concerns seriously. Describe the protocols Shahin Ghadir used in your cycles at Southern California Reproductive Center and their degree of success.
IVF #1 Long Lupron protocol with Gonal-F and Menopur. I had an easy textbook cycle. 21 eggs retrieved and great fertilization rate, but by day 5 transfer day only 3 embryos had survived due to unanticipated low egg quality. Two were transferred but the cycle failed. IVF #2 Long Lupron protocol with Gonal-F and Menopur with the addition of Human Growth Hormone to give the embryos a boost. Another easy textbook cycle with 20 eggs retrieved and great fertilization rate. This time 6 embryos made it to day 5. Two were transfer using assisted hatching, and I got pregnant with a singleton.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Southern California Reproductive Center. (Assigned nurse: Maria)
Maria is an angel. She is extremely compassionate and patient as I called with tons of questions on a weekly and sometimes daily basis.

[Dr. Ghadir] He is always willing to get on the phone and talk to me and my husband. Has been knowledgeable and caring throughout the entire process. We may not have gotten to the IVF stage and we hope not to, but I fully trust Dr. Ghadir and have faith that working with him will give up the best possible outcome.
Wait time [at SCRC] can be long and getting in touch with the billing department is a nightmare. The clinic is beautiful and makes you feel comfortable and not sterile or too hospital like... The nursing staff of Dr. Ghadir’s team has been amazing from the start. They answer your calls or messages through the portal promptly and direct you to the doctor when needed. In clinic they are always welcoming and kind.

Take care of yourself. Infertility can be a scary and sad diagnosis and it is easy to be too hard on yourself.

Most of my diagnostics were covered. I paid out of pocket for one thing that I should have run through my insurance and it has been very difficult getting and itemized bill to submit to my insurance for reimbursement

Dr Ghadir has a nice manner to him and seems really to care about his patients (without being too stiff or formal). He is very professional as well. He was thorough in his explanation of the process and attentive to all of our questions...Working with Dr Ghadir is great. The only downsides are the administrative features of SCRC -- phone calls not getting returned, billing not being transparent.
SCRC feels a bit like a factory. Often times I would call and get transferred around not being able to speak to a live human. The "third party coordinators" were a mixed bag -- some were very friendly and helpful, others came across as less enthusiastic and didn't follow up appropriately. I also felt the billing system lacked transparency -- expect to get credit card charges but with no accompanying statements. Felt a bit like a money making machine.

Describe your experience with your nurse at Southern California Reproductive Center. (Assigned nurse: Third Party Coordinator)
They have a third-party coordinator system. You email a mailbox or leave a message and usually within 24 hours someone will get back to you. Often the person who gets back to you is different from the one you spoke to before. I wish there would have been some consistency here.

I was doing a transfer at 41 and decided to do single embryo after advising a high risk gynecologist. Dr Ghadir was completely supportive of my decision...took the time to explain the full process and was very responsive anytime I had a question...I kept a running list of questions so that when I would see him, I had everything I in one place and didn't forget anything. There can be alot of questions when you are going through egg retrieval / IVF for the first time.
They [Southern California Reproductive Center] have a separate area for only bloodwork and ultrasounds, which was amazing! Since you have to do those appointments all the time, it was great to go to a designated area that is efficiently run to get you in and out. The entire staff was friendly and helpful. The area was always clean and I never felt at risk during COVID.
