dr Palter...went over all my blood work and previous IVF/transfer protocols that I had from another clinic...gave his recommendations on what he would do differently...assured us that he will do everything in his power to get us pregnant...felt using 1 PGT normal embryo would be the best option. And he was right.
[At Gold Coast IVF,] Morning appointments are pretty quick...in and out within 20 minutes or so...always got my results same day in the afternoon...would always available in the portal. Patience is key...After each visit, I’d sit with Annmarie and she would go over my results and whats to come next...any questions she always took the time to answer them.
How was your experience with Steven Palter at Gold Coast IVF?
From the moment my husband and I had our first consultation with dr Palter, he went over all my blood work and previous IVF/transfer protocols that I had from another clinic. He gave his recommendations on what he would do differently and assured us that he will do everything in his power to get us pregnant
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Steven Palter at Gold Coast IVF?
Trust him. He knows what he’s doing.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Steven Palter at Gold Coast IVF?
Every morning when I would go to the clinic for bloodwork or an ultrasound, it was always a positive experience. The front desk always greated me with a smile and always knew my name. The girls who would draw my blood would always make conversation so I didn’t go into my ultrasound nervous.

Morning appointments are pretty quick. You’ll be in and out within 20 minutes or so. I always got my results same day in the afternoon, and they would always available in the portal. Patience is key. Dr Palter ran multiple blood draws and had me do an era and mock transfer prior to my actual transfer so he knew exactly what he was dealing with. Although it took some extra months, it was worth it.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Steven Palter at Gold Coast IVF.
Luckily my husband insurance was able to cover 80% of the egg retrieval and transfer. The only thing not covered was ERA testing and PGT. I believe we spent a total of $12k
Describe Steven Palter's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Gold Coast IVF.
Dr Palter felt using 1 PGT normal embryo would be the best option. And he was right.
[Dr. Steven Palter] honest about your odds and what you should expect...broke tough news to me personally in a warm and understanding way...I needed to call the after hours number, Dr. Palter himself called me back within five minutes after 9 PM on a weekend...relies on fact and test results...would check on my progress daily thru the stim phase
[Gold Coast IVF] is run in an extremely organized and professional manner and info about my visits including instructions was always available within a few hours on my portal...Annemarie is also so amazing (everyone is I could write pages) she was such a rock for me thru this process and I always looked forward to seeing her...Thoughtful, caring and supportiive
How was your experience with Steven Palter at Gold Coast IVF?
I LOVE Dr Palter and absolutely every staff member at GCIVF. Dr. Palter really treated my case like it was the only one he had. He’s super honest about your odds and what you should expect, and I really appreciated this. The news wasn’t good for me at points and he never sugarcoated anything and just told me point-blank what was going to happen. Other doctors I saw didn’t do this and kept me guessing which was infinitely more difficult in an already very emotional time. I don’t wanna be told everything may be fine in a week when it’s clear it won’t be. Dr Palter broke tough news to me personally in a warm and understanding way.
He took the time out of his day to call me to tell me my transfer was successful. And the couple times I needed to call the after hours number, Dr. Palter himself called me back within five minutes after 9 PM on a weekend! He truly cares about his patients and their success. I was never once treated like my questions were silly. (though looking back a few were lol) This practice is run in an extremely organized and professional manner and info about my visits including instructions was always available within a few hours on my portal.
One thing that was clear was that Dr Palter and his team were very thorough. Where other doctors tend to work on hunches and gut feelings, Dr Palter relies on fact and test results. What ended up being my issue was against the odds and I actually had a couple other bigwigs in this field tell me there was no way I had this condition. Thankfully I saw Dr Palter and he diagnosed my condition quickly and I feel so grateful that I went with my gut and trusted him to be the one I went on the IVF journey with. After he found my condition he continued to test for everything else under the sun to give me the best chances possible. I spent HOURS researching success rates and all other types of statistics and let me tell you this practice is solid. He is DEFINITELY the best in Long Island and from my research the state and probably beyond. He’s the one with the perspective, knowledge and know-how to find the answers other doctors simply miss!
He works quickly and I feel like this place just has the recipe. I literally cannot say a bad thing about any experience that I had here! His protocol worked great for me and I was taking a very low dose of meds for the type of results that I received. Dr Palter himself would check on my progress daily thru the stim phase. I felt great with little recovery after all of the surgical procedures he performed on me. And the results were incredible!! I was so stressed about this whole thing beyond belief and he just got me amazing results thru the whole process! After so much disappointment and a rough road anyone who arrives at the decision to do IVF faces Dr Palter and his staff were just able to make everything okay! I had a beautiful baby thru my first IVF and transfer here and I will literally always be indebted to this office and forever grateful! Annemarie is also so amazing (everyone is I could write pages) she was such a rock for me thru this process and I always looked forward to seeing her. Look no further call now for IVF or any other fertility treatment you need Dr Palter will find your answer if there is anyone that can help it is him!

Just from reviewing testing I had done at a prior clinic, he [Dr. Palter] was able to pinpoint exactly the issues I had and what needed to be done. He can be very blunt but I truly appreciated it - I was never looking for a doctor to coddle me along the way, all I wanted was for him to get me pregnant. He was always honest about expectations to have throughout the process and made sure every test and preparation was done possible to ensure the best outcome...
Every single person that worked in the office [Gold Coast IVF] knew exactly who I was. Retrieval protocol consisted of Birth control pills prior to starting STIMS - followed by Menopur and Gonal-F. Added Ganirelix once needed.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Gold Coast IVF. (Assigned nurse: AnnMarie)
I truthfully don’t know what I would have done without AnnMarie throughout my whole process. As with most clinics, majority of the time your key point of contact is one of the nurses. I met with AnnMarie after every single appointment and she always went over next steps with me thoroughly, made sure all my questions were answered and was always available for phone calls. I still had interactions with other nurses as well, less frequently, and I can truly say everyone on their staff was amazing.
Describe your experience with Gold Coast IVF.
I don’t think the clinic has any weaknesses. I always appreciated how timely appointments were and how quickly I would be in and out of the office especially with working while going through IVF. I understand that sometimes information given to you can be confusing, but everyone at the clinic was always happy to assist and help with any questions I had. At my first clinic, morning monitoring was a first come first serve basis and it was awful. I loved that GCIVF only took appointments for everything.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Steven Palter at Gold Coast IVF.
Costs will vary greatly depending on medication needs, length of time on medication, number of embryos being tested etc.
Spent roughly $50k for two retrievals with PGT-A testing and one transfer
Describe Steven Palter's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Gold Coast IVF.
Single embryo transfer as embryos were PGT-A tested
Dr. Palter is blunt, to the point and throws around statistics...I constantly asked what the next steps were and timing so I could plan and was never given clear information...I only met with him 2x in person and very quickly at that in the 6+ months of testing and retrieval process so it didn't feel like he gave me enough time to even remember who I am let alone make any custom recommendations or meaningful discussions on options/trade-offs
Strengths [of Gold Coast IVF]: the office staff is efficient, and you rarely wait for your early morning appointments. The portal is easy to navigate...Negatives: Everyone is extremely curt and blunt...Be prepared for vagaries around the process and to be submitted to the whims of the lab closing unexpectedly for cleaning. It's also very hard to actually SEE dr. palter. I only met with him 2x in person and very quickly at that in the 6+ months of testing and retrieval process so it didn't feel like he gave me enough time to even remember who I am let alone make any custom recommendations or meaningful discussions on options/trade-offs.
How was your experience with Steven Palter at Gold Coast IVF?
Dr. Palter is blunt, to the point and throws around statistics. I like that type of attitude in general, but not all people do. However, I found the lack of clarity on the process to be aggravating. I constantly asked what the next steps were and timing so I could plan and was never given clear information. Because of this I had to rush to an emergency pharmacy to get more meds 2x when I had run out instead of someone giving me a heads up on what was coming so I could prepare. To top it all off NO ONE informed me that the lab closed for the ENTIRE MONTH OF AUGUST so I had to delay my transfer another month. If I had been given up front information I might have elected to start the retrieval a month earlier or do a warm transfer. Because I was kept in the dark on the process, I was unable to make informed decisions.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Steven Palter at Gold Coast IVF?
ask for a month by month timeline of events and when the lab closes.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Steven Palter at Gold Coast IVF?
Discussions with Dr. Palter were often rushed. There seemed to be a standard recipe book to follow without much customization per patient
Describe the protocols Steven Palter used in your cycles at Gold Coast IVF and their degree of success.
we skipped right to IVF b/c of my age and 1 blocked tube. Nothing else was tried.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Gold Coast IVF. (Assigned nurse: Barbara, Jessica and AnneMarie)
The nursing staff is similarly blunt. They are efficient and to the point except when you ask about the process then it becomes vague and very much like a treasure hunt with clues being dropped sporadically to find the next step.
Describe your experience with Gold Coast IVF.
Strengths: the office staff is efficient, and you rarely wait for your early morning appointments. The portal is easy to navigate. Nurses call you back quickly when you call in with questions. What specific things went wrong at Gold Coast IVF?
Failed to inform you of changes in protocol
Lost results
Failed to convey critical information
Canceled a cycle due to clinic error
Describe the specific things that went wrong at Gold Coast IVF.
1. No one informed me of the lab closing for the entire month of August, delaying implantation for a month. I only found out when I called to report my period on day 1. I had previously decided to delay retrieval a month as I was moving house, at no point was it mentioned that delaying for 1 month in May meant I would actually be delaying 2 months as I could not do implantation until Sept.
2. Because of their inability to give me updates on the process I ran out of stimulating drugs 2x; once I had to pay out of pocket to get drugs and once I had to drive across half of LI to get another pen. This could have been avoided if they were clear upfront on the process.
3. Minor issue: They continuously could not find my last papsmear. I had to call my OB 2x to get it sent over again.
He [Dr. Steven Palter] was very kind and compassionate to both my husband and I. He got to know us very well as we have done 4 IUIS and 2 rounds of IVF. Even though each cycle failed, he was willing to come up with a new plan and way of thinking for the next round. I feel like he always continued to encourage us to keep going no matter what...He was very thorough when explaining the treatment process as well as next steps. He always answered my questions with patience and kindness. I always felt comfortable working with him and know that he has the knowledge and experience needed to have a positive experience no matter what the outcome may be.
I love the nursing staff here [Gold Coast IVF]! They are a phenomenal group of compassionate women...Strengths is being open at 6:30am for early morning appointments. I also love the patient portal and how easy it is to review my treatment directions or test results. Weaknesses is not having after work hours for sonograms (but they may have to get those done in the morning for treatment plans).

My first IVF transfer was not successful. He made me go back and redo blood work to double check my levels for my second cycle. He suggested I use COq10 and DHEA in order to produce higher quality eggs. He also suggested that I go on Metanix which is prescription folic acid. He also put me on a blood thinner, love of, just as a precaution because my family has a history of blood clots (although I did not test positive for blood clots).

I love the nursing staff here! They are a phenomenal group of compassionate women. Describe the specific things that went wrong at Gold Coast IVF.
Just once there was an issue with some blood work. The lab couldn’t use the blood work that I had given earlier that morning, so I had to go back the next day and redo the blood test.
Dr. Palter was a great doc to start. He was compassionate and treated us as humans and patients, initially. He was statistical, which I liked because that is how my brain thinks. He was honest, and we truly believe if he was skeptical about something he would tell us. However as time went on and more and more people started coming to him, he started to appear more and more stressed and overextended. He hired another doc, who we LOVED (Dr.Maslow), but then she left shortly after.
The nursing staff was great [at Gold Coast IVF]. Th ey were compassionate and although overextended they did their best to keep things organized. During our initial time, the nurses were more friendly and seemed to love their job but as time went on it seemed as though they were burning out. Phone calls were being forgotten and their general demeanor seemed to be changing. However, if I were to recommend this office on nursing staff alone, I would.

However as time went on and more and more people started coming to him, he started to appear more and more stressed and overextended. He hired another doc, who we LOVED (Dr.Maslow), but then she left shortly after. When we decided to go with an egg donor, we were required to see HIS psychologist, who when researched turned out to be his sister (but she removed her maiden name at some point so people did not know there was a connection). It was such a conflict of interest, and in addition we had to pay out of pocket for her service.
Obviously, we received the ultimate gift with our daughter resulting from treatment, however I would not recommend this office any longer as it has become what others are - a factory.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Steven Palter at Gold Coast IVF?
He will probably get you pregnant, however, the path to get there will most likely be like all of the other clinics - a factory.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Steven Palter at Gold Coast IVF?
When we first started with Dr.Palter, he and his staff were amazing. Ypu didnt even have to sign in, you were immediately recognized and greeted happily. It felt different than the previous doctor. Phone calls were returned when we were told they'd be and questions were answered regardless of time. However, when we reached our 2nd cycle, we felt less and less valued, and that the office was getting "too big for their own good." Things were slipping through the cracks, phone calls were not being returned. Things felt less compassionate.
Describe the protocols Steven Palter used in your cycles at Gold Coast IVF and their degree of success.

Describe your experience with Gold Coast IVF.
Strengths: compassionate nurses, Dr.Palter is constantly learning and basing treatments on new research, involved in research, at first I did not believe our treatment was cookie cutter like other clinics
Weaknesses : clinic becoming too big, less personal treatment by doctors and staff, less organized, things slipping through the cracks
Describe the costs associated with your care under Steven Palter at Gold Coast IVF.
First 3 cycles of IVF covered 75% after 6 iUI treatments failed.
Paid out of pocket for egg donor cycle 24,000

He [Dr. Steven Palter] is extremely honest with your situation and working through any bumps along the way. I always felt like he could be reached when I had concerns and wanted to discuss the treatment and next steps. We used a long Lupron protocol to help with egg quality issues and added PGS to ensure embryos were normal.

He [Dr. Steven Palter] is a very knowledgeable dr. He always explains things in terms we can understand. You always see him for the important stuff. He always returns calls in a timely manner. While Dr Palter was my miracle worker, it is the nurses and staff that make the entire experience less painful. They are a team of dedicated and compassionate professionals whom always provided encouragement and laughs just when you need it.
He [Dr. Steven Palter] looked through everything a million times. He’s exceptionally thorough, detailed and no nonsense. I knew that I never had to question my care and protocols because he’s so ingrained in my case and success. His honesty is a breath of fresh air because you’re getting the truth. He will do whatever it takes to fight for you to be successful. I knew that from my first few visits. He didn’t give up on me. He’s an incredible doctor.
Strengths [at Gold Coast IVF]: it’s not a Factory. Very well run and organized. Excellent communication. They know your name. Weaknesses: they set the bar high for every other doctor I’d go to. I wish all clinics were like them...The nurses knew me and knew my case. Waiting room was calming and comfortable. I never felt rushed or unimportant which I was used to from other practices. It felt like I was in a family practice. They hold the bar very high.
