She was extremely patient and reassured me when I had numerous questions. I never felt rushed and she gave me her full attention during each visit. She made me feel safe and comfortable during the uncertain times .

What I really appreciated about Dr. Segal is that it felt like talking to a friend. Our conversations never felt stuffy, disconnected, or judgmental - she was super supportive, compassionate, and kindly direct. I was able to gather the information I needed, but also gained even more confidence with our plan to freeze embryos for fertility preservation than before we met with Dr. Segal. She took the time to get to know me as a person, and I really appreciated that. I also found the support staff to be very helpful along the way. I want to make particular note that when I felt some extreme pain during the process, the nurses and staff took me seriously and aired on the side of caution - I never felt dismissed, brushed off, or like a nuisance. This made a great impact on my experience as a whole, and helped me gain trust throughout the process.

I was treated so compassionately by Dr Segal and most of her team. They were understanding, non-judgemental and yet very pragmatic.

Her support staff was extremely rude and callous, even making me cry during a procedure confirmation of the legal documents. She mostly provided me personal attention, but let my case slip through the cracks causing professional team miscommunications and poor teamwork with the anesthesiologist which caused my cycle to be canceled after months of working with her and over a week of wasted injections and appointments.

In person and on the phone, Dr. Segal (and every other person at UCSF CRH that I've been in contact with) is kind, informative and very helpful. While our diagnosis is unexplained infertility, Dr. Segal seemed to create a plan that made sense and explained anything I had questions about. The process at UCSF, however, is very flawed. It's not clear where you are in the process, who you are supposed to be in touch with, it takes on average 3 calls to get a phone call/email back. Expect for this to take longer than you think it will. I had my first appointment early April and was planning to do my first egg retrieval starting end of May and one day before cycle day 1, they called to tell me that they had to push to the next cycle. Needless to say I was quite unhappy about this as we were trying to get all this done as my insurance plan year is coming to a close. Apparently UCSF is working to fix some serious issues, but be warned - you must be an advocate for yourself and push them along. Maybe other teams are more organized but it really sounds like it's a UCSF thing not a team/Dr. specific issue.

Dr . Segal is extremely personable and down to earth . I felt an immediate connection with her as a human being .

I had an initial consultation with Dr. Segal. She is a very nice person and answered my long list of questions one by one. I don’t think she is that experienced compared with other doctors in UCSF. But she will try to find the answer or consult Dr Cedars if necessary.

Dr. Thalia explained every step and future plans with me and my partner very clearly. She is very approachable and was very positive. I remember she told me very pregnancy is a miracle and I would believe that always. She had the right plan for me. I had a small surgery and she is such an expert that I recovered very fast and it was pretty smooth.

Dr. Segal was amazing throughout the entire process. She listened, explained everything (even multiple times when needed), and had a very thoughtful and clear communication style. She also called me personally later in the day when we found out our first positive pregnancy had a no heartbeat. Two years on, I still remember that phone call. And while the scheduling wizards were on our side, she was the doctor who performed the D&C procedure, and I would not have wanted anyone else to do it. She and the rest of the UCSF nursing team made what was one of the hardest days of my life bearable.

There were two distinct phases of our treatment with UCSF. For the first half, we ended up just seeing whoever was available, which was quite frustrating since my partner had some anatomical irregularities that served as fresh challenges over and over. After we had to abort (and re-freeze) an embryo transfer because the (non-Dr. Segal) doctor couldn't get the catheter in, Dr. Segal started coordinating our visits with her working days, and the quality and personal care level went up by quite a bit. At the same time, we also started getting a much better nurse (Laurel Poole) and coordinating team. As mentioned in other reviews, the "default" nursing team is hard to work with -- poor communicators.

Dr. Segal and her team personally reached out to me on every occasion necessary. I had 2 procedures and they called me each day and the day after to check on me and how I was doing. I was able to speak with someone on her direct team each time I asked.

UCSF definitely sees a lot of patients but I always felt like I had the full attention of my doctor. I appreciate her taking the time to get to know my perspective and explain concepts to me. She even called me directly multiple times to clarify asks.

Dr. Segal was very respectful and genuine. It always felt like I talking to a friend. We mostly had video calls and Dr. Segal would listen to my concerns and answer my questions. I never felt rushed.

It felt like she understood our concerns, explained the treatment and process, and gave us detailed answers for our questions. She never dismissed our concerns, and promptly as well. We felt heard.

The first time we met Dr Segal, we know that we are in good hands. She was very patient with us and explained to my husband and I our options and a good plan to on how to move forward with our situation. She was understanding and very helpful as well, we were at ease and confident she will take good care of us.

Dr. Segal treated me as she would treat herself. She listened to me, my problems, and what i was hoping to get from the IVF process. She is extremely compassionate and has empathy. I trusted her whole heartedly. For me, I understood with IVF there was 50/50 chance of conceiving and Dr Segal was transparent about that. However, she has such a positive energy, i felt i was going to conceive on each of my cycles with her, which I did.

I genuinely felt like Dr. Segal cared about me as a person and was rooting for my success.

Dr. Segal was very communicative and warm. She has also kept in touch over the years, which I really appreciate. It's hard not to feel like a number sometimes in a big system like UCSF, but those times were few and far between.

Dr. Segal is very compassionate. Always follows up and provides answers to all question.
