Dr. Burwinkel has been very helpful and informative during our fertility treatments. He has always answered all of the questions we’ve had with honesty and compassion. While our 3 iui procedures did not result in pregnancy, Dr. Burwinkel has been very encouraging and we are confident and hopeful that IVF will help us become parents.

Don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions. He is so knowledgeable.

We did 3 rounds of iui with letrozole and trigger shot. I did produce the desired follicles, but was not successful with conception.

For iui, we paid about $500 each cycle plus $110 for medications. My insurance covers anything diagnostic, not does not cover the actual procedures.

He recommended single transfer when we do IVF as he didn’t believe I would carry multiples as well as some other women.

Dr. Burwinkel is kind. He made sure to tell me that the miscarriage wasn’t my fault. He also did a great job explaining everything to my husband in words that he understands. He is also very honest about outcomes and immediately let us know that something was wrong when we had the ultrasound.

I would advise patients to make sure they ask questions. Dr. Burwinkel gives information as its needed. This helps to not overwhelm you which I thought was good, but also sometimes you want more information.

5 mg Femara with IUI for 3 rounds 7.5 mg Femara with IUI for 1 round Egg retrieval-150 gonal-f, cetrotide, ½ dose HCG, lupron trigger I have PCOS.

It is costly for IVF, but seemed more cost effective than other clinics I have seen. I thought the IUI cycles were very cost effective.

I have had 2 eSET, but next time will transfer 2.

Strengths- making patients feel comfortable. Talking about life, not just the procedure. Efficient but not rushed. Opportunities- no complaints. My IUI’s did not result in pregnancy but I don’t relate that to his competency.

Ask questions. He explains things very well and never seemed bothered while responding and answering my questions.

I completed 3 rounds of IUI with the assistance of Femara. Trigger shot was used in tandem with the IUI to try to increase pregnancy odds. Ultrasound was used each round to check and measure follicles to determine the date of IUI. I did not end up with a pregnancy after 3 rounds.

I paid out of pocket for all IUI. Ultrasounds were about $250 each. The trigger shots were around $100- the staff did give me info for a pharmacy in Miami which helped me save over $100 instead of ordering at a local Kroger! I believe my total spend after 3 rounds of IUI, initial visit, saline HSG, ovarian reserve testing was around $3000.

He’s a great dr and man . He never turned me away even when I was a project and always came up with the best plan . Great surgeon, trustworthy. Always felt good when I saw him. He gave me my son, and I can never thank him enough. Very smart dr, state of the art

The clinic as a whole is great . Dr Burwinkle willgive u individual care and make it work for you if he can

I have an extremely thin uterine lining which is rare , we did delestrogen shots , viagra , he even thinks out of the box and going to ty tamaxiophin (estrogen) and possibly Eva study to figure out what’s going on with my lining .

I have insurance coverage but I’d say $3k for 2 ivfs and FETs

I have a thin lining , my dr let’s me chose , having had failed transfers and a thin lining he is ok with me transferring two since I have many embryos left , if I feel comfortable doing it . Otherwise he is more single mindset

We felt like just another number. Always rushed and never changed dosage of medication to attempt to have more mature follicles. Same protocol each visit. ICSI was never fully explained to us and the question to transfer one or two embryos was presented to us ten minutes before the transfer.

Prepare to be rushed through your treatment. Evidently their numbers are getting better so what they are doing is working, but don't expect a lot of attention.

The protocol was very basic and standard. I feel the first round is a baseline for them and they use it to possibly make the next cycles more effective.

Dr. Burwinkle tells is how it is, which I like. I always felt knowledgeable of what the treatment was going to be and why he decided to take his route. He was also open to trying a different medication route the next time we decide to try.

Be open and don't be afraid to ask questions.

This past cycle was cancelled the dub before retrieval because of high hormone levels. Since I produce a lower number of eggs, Dr. Burwinkle has not wanted to put me on lupron, but instead femara, Gonral-F, menopur, cetrotide, etc.

Ultrasounds for IVF had to be on certain days, but they always tried to make it work with your schedule.

IVF cycles are one bundled price. Anything extra like ICSI, would be extra and billed at a later date.

He seems to be more into transferring 2 eggs than 1.

Dr. Burwinkel put together a treatment plan and informed us of our options. He was very informative and explained our choices. He was up front with providing statistics and risks and benefits for all of our choices.

Don’t wait. Time isn’t on your side when it comes to fertility treatments. Freeze your eggs or embryos until you are ready.

Fertility treatments are very expensive. Insurance doesn’t cover any cost except a diagnostic visit. Due to my age, nothing was guaranteed. I’ve spent well over 30K on fertility treatments and each additional transfer is a separate fee.

I really appreciate all Dr. B has done for me even though we have not had success. He's never given up hope and always come with suggestions and ideas as to what to do next. I can tell he really care about my case and is working hard to come up with a solution.

Ask a lot of questions. He gives a lot of help and advice but you have to ask.

Because I have been trying to conceive for 5 years, I have always been able to transfer 1-2 a cycle. There was never any push back until I asked to transfer 2 donor eggs the first cycle. After a miscarriage with DEs, I will be allowed to transfer 2 the next cycle.

Very straight forward. Positive but realistic. Did what was best for us. Treated us like his own. Was always quick to call back if we had questions or concerns. He’s a big part of the reason we’re expecting our first child.

If you have questions, make sure to ask. Don’t be afraid of a “dumb” question. He’s there to help and will gladly do so.

We tried IUI first. Having male factor infertility issues it was possible. He did however recommend after 3 failed attempts to do IvF. He didn’t want us to waste any more time or money.

Expensive. I don’t blame IRH alone. It’s an issue with all infertility clinics.

Dr. Burwinkel was always open and honest about our course of action. If our numbers didn’t look great, he let us know and would lay out the next steps. When we moved from IUI to IVF he said we could try a few more IUI cycles if we’d like. I asked him if we could move forward with IVF, and he respected our wishes. I responded too well to medication during IVF, and he was honest about all my dosages. He managed each cycle wonderfully and always made us feel confident.

Go for it, even if it’s not the closest option. We drove an hour and a half for every appointment, and we would do it again to be treated at IRH- with any of the doctors!

Dr. B strongly suggest a single embryo transfer, because our embryos were so strong and I didn’t have any issues myself.

I was able to ask any question and it was answered honestly. When going through infertility, there are so many emotions going through your body and Dr Burwinkel listened carefully and never made me feel crazy. We approached every decision and plan as a team.

To be honest and upfront to your expectations. With any dr, be in control of the situation.

We only transferred one embryo at my successful transfer which resulted in a pregnancy. Dr burwinkel was very strong on only transfers g one due to how strong the embryos were growing and splitting. We agreed with the decision

He was the 1st of 3 fertility Drs to truly listen to my symptoms/ past experiences/ concerns that my uterus or immune system was fighting off my embryos as though they were a bad. His resulting protocol allowed me to get far enough along to hear a heartbeat for the first time in almost 17 years of trying! That pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, but the very next transfer, our second attempt with his new protocol resulted in the live births of my twins.

Tell him everything, no matter how crazy or embarrassing.

In addition to estrogen and progesterone, he had me take a few other things prior to my embryo transfer through hearing heartbeats that stopped my body from attacking or rejecting the embryos.

Excellent doctor, very caring and professional. Sat and talked us through every step and told us what to expect every single time we went to visit. He told us exactly when to come back and exactly what to do in between each visit.

Follow his directions and don’t give up hope.

We did 3 rounds of clomid and 2 rounds of IUI before becoming pregnant with twins.

Dr. B was super compassionate and proactive. He was supportive when I needed a break after my second miscarriage. Ordered a round of tests immediately. After my third, ordered the HSG. I couldn't have had a more proactive doctor.

I was disappointed that 3 ivf cycles didn't work but he was very compassionate. He encouraged donor embryos but I wasn't receptive to that. He is top notch. He focused on my emotional recovery after miscarriages as well as physical recovery

We enjoyed working with Dr. Burwinkel and felt he was very honest and helpful.

Dr. Burwinkel was not as outgoing/personable as some of the other doctors in the practice but I appreciated that. He was there to work with us - establish a plan for us and guide us through it - which he did very well.

Consultation he used words and communication that if I hadn’t already been trying for over a year wouldn’t of understood. I felt kind of talked down to. Felt like my opinions were not validated. Where the number comes more into play. I didn’t like beside manner. Very to the point and kind of quick. I know he cared about his patients. Going back to treatment now. I will Not pick him again.

To ask questions. Speak up for yourself and advocate for yourself. You don’t like their advise seek a second opinion.

I switched to this clinic because my insurance covered IUI. IVF wasn’t a financial option. Also prior clinic had 3 doctor changes on me in a year. I wanted the same doctor. I went to this place explaining I wasn’t ready for IVF and wanted to try longer with IUI cycles. After several attempts on pill form and it not working IUI’s. My 10 round for IUI I did daily shots, and a trigger shot. That round I had three eggs drop. That’s when I conceived my twin boys. This was also our last cycle before we were going to take a break. I had five rounds at another clinic of IUI and other treatments. I was emotionally exhausted at this point of two years trying. They were thinking on my 10th round to have me start considering IVF. We also were paying for my husbands part of IUI Because he was. It covered.

We made monthly payments to them. My husband was not covered at all for his part in the IUI and the testing of his speech. Now of my costly perscriptions were covered

Seems very curious and wants to run alot of tests that other doctors didn’t which is great if that’s the cure however expensive for us. He seems knowledgeable and curious and he definitely has a plan but is a little rigid when questioned about it.

Just ask a lot of questions and see what is necessary treatment vs just a recommendation

Dr. Burwinkel knows his stuff. I’m grateful he’s at IRH and to live so close by to such a successful clinic. I have not been surprised that nurses at my own OB’s office have shared that they’ve gone to IRH for their infertility treatment too. It’s known as the best place in this region.

Go into it appreciating an honest opinion. If he doesn’t think something will work (ie IUI) then appreciate that he doesn’t want to waste your time or money. We were grateful he had us go straight to IVF. It was incredibly costly, but absolutely worth it.

Dr. Burwinkle cares about his patients as well as his staff. He takes the time to explain and makes sure you understand. When we graduated to my OBGYN we were a little sad because he made us feel like family.

We wanted to use the last two embryos we had but Dr. Burwinkle advised us against it and I am happy he did. My risks would have been higher and being almost 6 months it is hard to get around now with one let a lone two.

I feel like Dr.Burwinkel really did a good job of understanding our questions and answering them honestly and to full extent. I was not nervous to ask questions and he never once got frustrated with the number of questions that we had.

Dr. Burwinkel was incredibly good at explaining things. He even wrote things out so that I could reference his notes on medicine to stop, other medicines to try instead, and which sperm banks should be best.

Absolutely go for it. The first consultation will definitely put your mind at ease.

Hes very nice, good bedside manners answers every question you have and tells you what to expect including percentages if necessary. Jokes around to make things feel less intense i actually miss seeing him and wish he was a practising OB for full pregnancy

Femara, gonal F, ovidrel and iui. I had atleast 2 follicles each time sometimes 3.

Dr. Burwinkle was down to earth and to the point. He communicated well about our treatment plan and was very kind after our failed cycle. He might have even used a light-hearted curse word once which made my husband feel at ease (haha). Although our results were not what we had hoped for, doctors are humans, and we know it’s a risky business anyway. I truly feel like Dr. Burwinkle had our best at heart to achieve a healthy pregnancy.

Dr. Burwinkle does have a good bedside manor but a slightly dry sense of humor so don’t expect him to paint a pretty picture- he is going to be honest (in a kind way) with you.

I have never been diagnosed with PCOS but my AMH level at the time of treatment was high. Because of that, we used a fairly low dose of injectable medications (Gonal F @ 125, a couple of doses of Cetrotide and Ovidrel). I produced approximately 8 follicles with 7 mature eggs of 4 fertilized. Unfortunately only one of them were able to be transferred and none left to freeze. Dr. Burwinkle stated after that he would increase the dose of medications in future cycles.

One full cycle including ICSI, medications, the whole nine yards, cost approximately $15,000.00.

Our clinic prefers to transfer single embryos which I was fine with at the time. Knowing what I know now, I wish we would have transferred more but hindsight is 50/50. No one to blame for that. I understand and respect the reasoning behind only transferring one embryo at a time based on a fairly healthy and hopeful scenario.

Dr. Burwinkel is great! He is very kind but also does not sugar-coat things which I like. I feel like he gives us his honest opinion of our treatment options. He speaks to us like actual humans, not just a number or patient. My husband has no medical background or experience and Dr. Burwinkel speaks to us in terms that he understands. He treats us in a way that makes us feel like he truly cares about us and is doing everything he can to help us start a family. I highly recommend Dr Burwinkel!

We started with using Letrozole, Ovidrel, and timed intercourse. I had taken Letrozole with my regular OB doctor and knew it worked but Dr. Burwinkel increased the dose and also continued Metformin I had previously been prescribed for PCOS. After 3 rounds of timed intercourse we moved on to IUI.

I was surprised by the cost in a good way! Much more affordable than most clinics I have heard of which is important because my health insurance does not cover fertility treatment.
