He [Dr. McCoy] kept me and my husband informed of the procedures and the percentages of success and what the next steps would be. Any concerns and questions that we had were addressed. We felt comfortable in knowing what to expect and the risks.... We first tried using the shots to get pregnant naturally and then used IUI for 3 months with no success. He said after 6 tries it would probably be time to try IVF.

Dr. McCoy was extremely kind, empathic and encouraging...ask as many questions as you can.[he] is more than willing to answer anything, and even stay late with you if necessary...We were advised to try Clomid for a few rounds...We began our first round of IUI by switching to Femara...I felt human because in our IVF consult I was told I don’t qualify for reimbursement because of my weight...We made the decision to take a break and I have been able to successfully loose the necessary weight.
[nurse of PREG] She answers questions, sends personal emails and is just overall fantastic...Facility is clean, professional and warm...Costs were reasonable. 80$ co pays, 500$ IUI procedures...[Dr. McCoy] has conveyed his opinion that only a single embryo is really necessary, given my age...He clearly has been in the business a long time and is very knowledgeable as well as empathic to each patients situation
How was your experience with Travis McCoy at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
Travis is kind, friendly and welcoming. He explains things very well and clearly cares about his patients. We spent limited time with him as the nurses performed all our IUI procedures, but overall we were very impressed and look forward to continuing to work with him
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Travis McCoy at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
The one piece of advice I could give is ask as many questions as you can. Dr Mcoy is more than willing to answer anything, and even stay late with you if necessary.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Travis McCoy at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group?
Dr Mcoy was very warm and welcoming. He clearly has been in the business a long time and is very knowledgeable as well as empathic to each patients situation. His end goal is always to give the couple trying to conceive a healthy baby. I felt human because in our IVF consult I was told I don’t qualify for reimbursement because of my weight. Dr Mcoy was extremely kind, empathic and encouraging. I have successfully lost the weight and we are ready to go for it!
Describe the protocols Travis McCoy used in your cycles at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group and their degree of success.
We came to Dr Mcoy after trying for 1 year unsuccessful on our own. We were advised to try Clomid for a few rounds (4) and in detail we were explained all our options and what a relatively normal infertility process looks like. Medication is a common starting point, and so we unsuccessfully gave it 4 rounds. My husband had some potential male factor issues, dealing with inconsistency in his number of sperm produced and possibly quality. We began our first round of IUI by switching to Femara. My husbands frost sperm count of the fist day of IUI was not good enough for a transfer. But, the next 3 rounds were decent numbers . 20-30k if I remember correctly. Unfortunately all were unsuccessful. We then had a consult for IVF which Mcoy agreed was a reasonable next step, though we could have tried IUI a few more times if we wanted. Unfortunately we did not qualify for the rebate program and the only thing that was hindering us that we could actually control was my weight. It was humiliating, but eye opening. We made the decision to take a break and I have been able to successfully loose the necessary weight. We are ready to hopefully have another consult and proceed with IVF.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group. (Assigned nurse: Mary Elizabeth)
Mary Elizabeth was very warm, kind and helpful. She was soft spoken, empathic and gentle. I appreciated her more than she will ever know. She answers questions, sends personal emails and is just overall fantastic.
Describe your experience with Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group.
Strengths - Doctors and nurses are fantastic. Facility is clean, professional and warm. I feel safe, valued and I trust the professionals. Weaknesses - Admin staff - not overly friendly. Somewhat scattered and seemingly a little disorganized.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Travis McCoy at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group.
Costs were reasonable. 80$ co pays, 500$ IUI procedures.
Describe Travis McCoy's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group.
Mcoy has conveyed his opinion that only a single embryo is really necessary, given my age. My husband and I ultimately agree and understand. We love the idea of twins, but understand the risks associated with multiples and we want to be as safe and healthy as possible.

He [Dr. McCoy] is very personable in the office but perhaps has too many patients to handle. When I explained to him several times that my medicine was not working his only alternative was to change the dose every time...Great surgeon. Definitely recommend him for that. But you really need to explain to him what you want and continue to call to get results...
The [PREG] staff is very friendly. The clinic is clean. The clinic in general is great. There is some confusion because there is a clinic in Asheville and ended up showing up there once when staff booked me for an appt in Greenville SC...I didn't always speak to the same nurse. Most were prompt and friendly...The only complaint I have is the time it took them to give me a response, which may have had nothing to do with them.. I could be wrong but I don't feel like my doctor was trying all the alternatives to help me in my situation.

Dr. McCoy was very honest and constantly made himself available to our questions...He emailed us directly and got back to us right away...We had an donor embryo transfer and he made sure to prescribe us the most straightforward and cheapest fertility drugs unlike past clinics...He suggested a single embryo transfer but we ended up doing a multiple one because of past setbacks...
[PREG staff] got back to us quickly and we never had to wait around for results or call backs...Under $5000 for a full FET cycle including all meds and appointments...Dr. McCoy was very honest and constantly made himself available to our questions. He always had a very personal touch and went out of his way to help us and explain everything.

Dr McCoy is very caring. He is very knowledgeable. He makes sure he is giving you the best possible care. I do wish I could see him each time I visit the clinic or that he is a little easier to get in touch with but I understand there are other patients. He is a great doctor.... We have been through rounds of clomid and rounds of another drug but i’m Not sure the name. We have done trigger ovulation shots because I don’t ovulate on my own. We have done ivf and three transfers as well.
This [Piedmont Reproductive Endo Group- Greenville] is a wonderful clinic. Everyone is very sweet and understanding. I feel like I cry every time I go in there because of my own issues. The entire staff is with you through every step. It’s truly a great team.... The nursing staff is great. Some of them have even gone through infertility themselves so they are super understanding.

Dr McCoy did a fantastic job of presenting me with the facts and giving me all my options.

Dr Mccoy was very informative. He answered all of my questions along with any my husband had. He was very empathic with me and my situation . I went for my first round of ivf with Dr Mccoy which was scary but he made it as painless as possible... Dr Mccoy would talk to me like I was his only patient. Even when he would run late for another appt he still took his time with me.
The weakness of the practice [Piedmont Reproductive Endo Group- Spartanburg] is the amount of money they charge to do a cycle of ivf. And do not give a refund but up to 1000 dollars. Always ask questions at your first consult visit. I really enjoyed my nurse Lynne. She was incredible... Over 20 000 dollars for 1 cycle of ivf... Dr Mccoy was very informative. [Dr. Travis McCoy is] Realistic and willing to answer all questions. Transparent which I appreciated, did not aim to sugar coat anything, but delivered evidence based answers and explanations. He performed a laparoscopy for endometriosis and I recovered wonderfully.... Individual treatment plan, realistic expectations set, good listener and evidence based. Nurses have always been warm, welcoming, and caring.
[Piedmont Reproductive Endo Group- Asheville is] Easy to get a hold of, sometimes complicated because seem to be based out of SC and it may be confusing if you’re an Asheville, NC patient. Never had to wait long for any of my appointment, convenient location.... [The nursing staff were] Very compassionate, responsive, toolkits the time to answer all my questions.

Very kind and aware. One of his residents recommended him [Dr. Travis McCoy] to me. Maybe underexplained some thing and over explained others. Would have liked more stats after my results came back. I feel as though we are on the right course with dr McCoy... High dose letrazol with ovarian ultrasound and trigger shot. Two cycles like that and no pregnancy but forming good follicles. Semen analysis and results were very good
With how much it costs [at Piedmont Reproductive Endo Group- Columbia] you would expect the red carpet. I wish on day one I received a lot more info on statistics for my age group and symptoms . I do love how efficient the staff are. They have seen it all and that is very useful... 150 a visit and IvF which we will start next month us 12,500

I believe Dr. McCoy was new when I came to the clinic. I was one of his first few patients. He made me feel comfortable and he shared stories with me to help me and my husband feel more relaxed. It also made us trust him.... Everything was fone. I went through all the standard testing and was ready to start treatment to undergo IVF.... The services were great. The staff [PREG] was friendly and very detailed. I didn't feel embarrassed or uncomfortable. Also the office setting was very relaxing.
The staff [Piedmont Reproductive Endocrinology Group] was very polite and compassionate as I completed my tests.... The costs needed to be discussed on the first visit. My costs were given to me on the third visit right before I was supposed to start treatment. I couldn't afford to move forward and it was devastating.... The services were great.
