What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic)?
Get your plan in writing. Don't let them just tell you verbally. That way you have a record of it that you can refer to, and there's no delay or confusion due to miscommunication on their part or on yours.

I think my previous comment describes it accurately. Just be careful to get your plan of care in writing and don't wait for them to contact you with what you need to do - contact THEM and make sure you don't get lost in the shuffle.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
I described it previously. The plan of care that was discussed with the physician was not followed through later on, and we lost a cycle and had to do duplicate exams/ tests. I still don't know why the cycle was delayed. It resulted in our injections and retrieval being delayed indefinitely when services were shut down (for the shelter-in-place order).

How was your experience with Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic)?
He is a great Dr. We worked with him and were able to conceive our 2 sons. For the second pregnancy, we were hesitant about knowing the gender of the embryo to be transferred but ultimately decided against it because there would've been a genetic testing fee. I had great experiences both times. For the first time, I was mostly in the Hoffman Estates office and for the 2nd time, I was most in Crystal Lake. I experienced extreme congestion my second pregnancy and that put a damper on things but otherwise a good experience.

There were videos posted online that were helpful to follow in terms of administration of medication. Some medications were generic versions of more popular drugs and that helped tremendously to reduce costs, but usually were a little more difficult to administer. Since I had embryos frozen from my first IVF, the second treatment was ensuring I increased my hormone levels to where they needed to be, then I was able to do IUI, and take progesterone to maintain the pregnancy for the first 10 weeks.

Describe your experience with InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
The clinic is good at assessing where you are at. Be open about what you are looking for and set boundaries as needed related to visits at your preferred location and budgetary constraints. I think that this entire process requires patience and it is helpful to have outside support in addition to the support you receive at the clinic.
Also, their fertility app did not work well with my android phone. I was unable to download some of the pdf files but they were willing to assist if/when I called while I was at a testing site and needed them to forward lab requests for a blood draw. Also, I sometimes would find it a little tricky to find the letter or lab request they posted to the site, but once again, they were helpful if/when I called. I could have avoided this by logging in and printing the items from my home laptop/printer but I think the whole point of the app is convenience so hopefully they can update it in the future to work better with android phones.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
I was involved in a study the first time so costs were limited. I paid mostly for anesthesia. The second time was insurance was used and I paid out of pocket for ART, assistive reproductive technology that helps improve the chances of pregnancy. I also paid for drugs some times out of pocket. I estimate about $600 the first time and $3000 out of pocket the second time.

As I was transferring over to my Ob/gyne after conceiving, there was a little difficulty getting my Invia paperwork faxed over. They provided me a printed version and I requested they also fax it directly. The receiving Ob/gyne said they did not receive the fax so we ultimately went with the printed version I received.

How was your experience with Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Karande outlined our initial treatment cycle on paper, in person in 2019. I saw him once in a while during treatment, for maybe 5 minutes towards the end of appointments. I don't remember who did the egg retrieval. His partner did the actual fresh egg transfer. At our last appointment of 2019, I felt my feedback about his billing department was brushed off. They didn't improve in the intervening time with storage billing. After being released from treatment, I saw him occasionally as we worked in the same building (I worked for a different company). He was polite, but I didn't feel like he recognized me. My virtual appointment in 2021 was very brief. He didn't ask about my fiancé or previous experience. He asked to see a photo of my child, but I was on my phone at home during the appointment, which has all my photos. He didn't remember that I showed him a photo in the elevator at work in 2020. He's old school.

Dr. Karande did not recognize me outside of the office. I worked in the same building as one of the offices for 2 years. He gave canned answers about policy, and I felt like he ignored feedback about how poorly his billing department works. We will be transferring our frozen embryos from this clinic due to their inflexible policy. I also felt that they nickel and dime for everything. If you want records sent out, fees increase for every 5 pages.
Describe the protocols Vishvanath C. Karande used in your cycles at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
Dr. Karande described their typical egg retrieval process for separate petri dish fertilization. He outlined the medications used and each cycle, a hysteroscopy is done (uterus is filled with liquid to check for pregnancy potential). Our cycle produced 3 embryos. 1 was fresh transferred and 2 were frozen. We have a healthy toddler now.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
The nurses are personable. I saw several multiple times, and they remembered me by name. There was one who had an issue with a blood draw that got messy and she became a bit flustered about that. My fiancé is also an RN, and he would critique their technique as not best practices (i.e. no one should be fanning air over an injection site that had been rubbed with alcohol to dry the alcohol faster).
Describe your experience with InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
I went to the Crystal Lake and Hoffman Estates locations the most. The one in Crystal Lake had fewer staff. I felt I often walked into an empty front office there. The Hoffman Estates office was busy. I always had to wait there. with other patients. The nurse educator for the medications was very thorough and kind. The clinic's weakest points are the billing department - disorganized, not following protocol. Storage billing should start with $1000, then bill $50 for 3 months, then go to $150 quarterly. I received a $1150 bill, then a $50 bill immediately. Was told it was from the upcoming month after. Next bill was a quarterly bill, re-billing for the single month I had already paid for. I felt I was constantly dealing with contacting the billing department with corrections. They didn't improve during COVID-19, billing 6 months close together, missing a mailing altogether, then I was contacted by e-mail. Very inconsistent. I knew this ahead of time from online reviews.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
Billing was vaguely detailed in the beginning. Dates, costs. I always compared them to my insurance benefits statements. I had to push back on them multiple times about billing errors. Many costs are in their fine print, but they didn't follow their fine print. I had to deal with multiple billing errors over the years. Phone calls needed to be made. Errors with double-billing months, not acknowledging online payment, receiving letters and phone calls about nonpayment after, and beware, if you want to sent records to another place, there are fees for every 5 pages. Storage billing began as vague. I felt lied to about their mistake in billing in the beginning. I think it is part of why they double-billed a month and then had to correct the invoice. Even with insurance, medication costs were very expensive. I was thankful to have reached my out of pocket maximum before the end of the year.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
The billing department lost track of payments made and invoices. I kept on top of things because they're so bad at keeping track of information. I paid online, but still received phone calls about non-payment about a week later. I had to call the billing department multiple times to clarify from 2019 to 2021. Unfortunately, this seems to be a common experience, as I saw multiple reviews with billing department complaints online prior to starting my cycle.
While completing our forms in the waiting area at our very first initial consultation, Dr. Karande personally came out, welcomed both my husband and I...and told us “Welcome to our family. Not only were we welcomed with open arms at our first visit, but Dr. Karande was present during my initial ultrasound and started explaining everything he was seeing, which gave us a huge piece of mind rather than having to question the black and white images on the screen. Afterwards, during the consultation, not only did he verbally talk about my diagnosis and treatment plan, but he also wrote everything down and drew pictures so that we could have a recollection of what we talked about at home for our reference. In the conversation he included treatment options, statistics, and benefits/risks. Throughout such a heavy conversation, he personality shined through, particularly his level of expertise and sense of humor.

Describe the specific things that went wrong at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
We had multiple issues dealing with billing which at one point threatened to delay an egg retrieval cycle. It seems like the billing department relies heavily on the patients to contact insurance which, in my experience, is usually actually the job of the billing department. there was also an occasion where the nursing staff told me I would have to delay my transfer. Upon reaching out to Dr. Karande (at the dismay of the nursing staff) he made the transfer work on the timeline we had discussed.
The first thing they [InVia Fertility Specialists] did at my appointment was an ultrasound. Before we started the tech told me that Dr. Karande would come in at some point to look at the screen himself. ... He told me that how many embryos to be transferred would be up to me because I only have one shot at IVF due to my egg count being extremely low. ... He explained to me that my left ovary was diminished almost completely and he didn't think that we would be able to get any eggs from it.
It seems that the clinic [InVia Fert Spec] is separated into different departments. You have the receptionist who can answer all the basic questions. The nurse who can answer the medical and test questions. The billing department that helps you understand the cost and if you have any questions about the bill. The doctor who can tell you anything you want to know, except the exact price of tests or medicines.

The first thing they did at my appointment was an ultrasound. Before we started the tech told me that Dr. Karande would come in at some point to look at the screen himself. When he did come in, he looked at it and started to explain to me what we were looking at. There was a screen on the wall for me to look at too. Then after he left I cleaned off and was escorted to his office to discuss everything. I gave him my full medical history, which is extremely long, and then he told me what he seen on the ultrasound. He explained to me that my left ovary was diminished almost completely and he didn't think that we would be able to get any eggs from it. As he was explaining things to me, he was drawing on a paper to show me visually and also writing down all the big words he was saying that he figured I would want to look up later. After he went over my condition, he went on to talk about what he wants to do. As he was talking about the different steps of the IVF procedure he also was drawing a graph on the same sheet of paper with the timelines. Then he asked if I had any questions, but I didn't have any because he thoroughly explained to me everything. Then he mentioned to me the different pricing for each part of the treatment. How the IVF treatment would be one price, anesthesia would be separate, medications, and the pretesting. When I started to tear up (which was a couple of times during our talk), he would stop, hand me a tissue, and console me. My husband wasn't able to be at the appointment with me, but Dr. Karande definitely helped make it easier on me.

When I walked in for my consultation appointment the receptionist asked me for my name. After I told her, she responded with "I'm so glad to have a face to go with the voice, I'm the one who you talked to when we set up your appointment." Everyone at the office only called me by my first name or Mrs., and everyone there is super friendly and caring. When some of the staff found out that I would be a cash patient due to my insurance not covering the treatments, they started calling the specialty pharmacies to see who had the lower prices for the medications that I would need. They also told me all of the different options on getting donated medications, how to get the tests done for cheaper, and all the information I would need for grants. They made me feel like they wanted to help me as much as possible.

After my meeting with the doctor, he told me that he was going to walk me to the nurses so they could go over pricing of tests and medications. He introduced me to a nurse and we sat down and talked about my situation. She seemed extremely sympathetic to my situation. She told me that she'll call up the specialty pharmacies to see if she can get medication donated or lower prices for me. She then gave me the list of the tests that I would need to have done prior to starting treatment. She highlighted the ones that were required. She advised me to call around and see what prices they would quote me to do these tests just in case I could find a cheaper lab.

The billing department that helps you understand the cost and if you have any questions about the bill. The doctor who can tell you anything you want to know, except the exact price of tests or medicines. This can be both a strength and weakness. I say this because it's a strength since everyone is a master at their position, but it's a weakness when someone has left early and no one else is there to answer your question. Otherwise the clinic is relaxing, clean, and made me feel comfortable.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
Since I only have enough eggs to do one round of IVF my costs can be different from someone else's cost. For the IVF treatment it is $10,000. For the anesthesia to retrieve the eggs it is $650. Medications can cost up to $6,000. Pretesting can cost up to $2,000. ICSI is $2,100. AZH is $1,050.

My husband and I give Dr. Karande 5 stars! After trying to conceive for over two years we were referred to Dr. Karande by my OB/Gyn. He explained every possible cause for our lack of success and guided us through every test and procedure in order to get some answers. After it was determined that our best chance at conception was IVF, Dr. Karande explained in great detail our estimated costs, timeline, and answered all of the questions we had.
When we decided to go through with IVF, I received regular communication from the staff [at InVia Fertility Specialists] with clear instructions on what my next steps were until my next appointment. Any questions that I had I could either call or message them in their patient portal and I would get prompt responses. After completing all of the necessary steps, I am now 11 weeks pregnant! I look forward to working with Dr. Karande and his exceptional staff in the future for baby number two!

Dr. Karande was profesional from the first time I met with him and he gave me hopes of geting pregnant. He knew exactly why I couldn’t get pregnant from my first visit...Dr. Karande gave me some pills, (forgot the name) to ovulate. After that I had to go get ultrasounds to see if my follicles were growing and when there was a mature follicle, I had to do a trigger shot. 36 hours after trigger shot I went in for IUI. 10 days after I had to go get an hcg test to see if I was pregnant. The test came out positive and then I had to do vaginal progesterone pills.
The nurses [at Invia Fertility Specialists] are very nice and helpful. They always made me feel comfortable and their hours for my ultrasounds and blood work worked with my working hours. They were able to take care of me before 7 a.m...She [nurse] is awesome, always had a smile. She was very helpful. I really thank her for her help...They have an online portal that will communicate you everything. Blood work results are in the same day. Dr. Karande was very professional. I didn’t see any weaknesses from the clinic.

Everyone is very professional and they make you feel welcome. Dr. Karande was profesional from the first time I met with him and he gave me hopes of geting pregnant. He knew exactly why I couldn’t get pregnant from my first visit. The nurses were very nice and professional. I highly recommend Dr. Karande for those who want to have a baby.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic)?
Don’t lose your hopes and trust Dr. Karande. He sure knows what he is doing and will help you have a baby.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic)?
The nurses are very nice and helpful. They always made me feel comfortable and their hours for my ultrasounds and blood work worked with my working hours. They were able to take care of me before 7 a.m. I really loved their services and highly recommend Dr. Karande for anyone wanting to have a baby. I really thought it would be hard for me to get pregnant and I got pregnant on my first cycle.
Describe the protocols Vishvanath C. Karande used in your cycles at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
Dr.
Describe your experience with your nurse at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Forgot her name )
The nurse was always there before 7a.m to do my ultrasounds and blood work. She is awesome, always had a smile. She was very helpful. I really thank her for her help.
Describe your experience with InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
Everything is good about the clinic. Starting from the staff to their doctors. They have an online portal that will communicate you everything. Blood work results are in the same day. Dr. Karande was very professional. I didn’t see any weaknesses from the clinic.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
Insurance covered most and paid out of pocket around $850
Describe Vishvanath C. Karande's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
Although Dr. Karande was straightforward, he understood that our goal was to get pregnant and have a baby as soon as possible and scheduled treatment on my body’s schedule and not on his clinics schedule....Dr. Karande was very knowledgeable, confident, and straight forward throughout the process which is exactly what I wanted and needed going through this emotional journey. He was very thorough in re- evaluating me prior to starting treatment despite receiving my previous records. His technique(HSG & transfer) was much better
I have nothing but positive things to say about this clinic. They complete all procedures at the office, have a portal where most communication occurs and they respond very quickly to any questions you have. This includes nurses, doctors, and the embryologists....Nursing staff always responded quickly to the portal. When I had a bleeding scare early on during pregnancy and messaged the portal, they quickly called to determine the cause and eliminate my concerns and fears.
How was your experience with Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic)?
I recently gave birth to my daughter after failing to get pregnant naturally and going through 3 failed transfers with a precious specialist. Making the switch to Invia was invaluable. Dr. Karande was very knowledgeable, confident, and straight forward throughout the process which is exactly what I wanted and needed going through this emotional journey. He was very thorough in re- evaluating me prior to starting treatment despite receiving my previous records. His technique(HSG & transfer) was much better than my previous provider and everything felt very different. Dr Klipstien completed my retrieval. It was great that they completed everything in their office and that my cycle was scheduled around my body’s cycle not their schedule which is why procedures can be completed by either doctor. I have and will recommend Dr. Karande to friends struggling with infertility.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic)?
He is very straight forward but had amazing results.

I was on the estrace priming protocol. I never used birth control which I was very pleased with. The protocol was a bit long but it all paid off. We genetically tested the embryos and were able to pick the embryo we wanted transferred which we decided to transfer the embryo that had the best ratings.

I had BCBS HMO and it wascovered almost 100% by insuarance. Genetic testing was not covered and cost us approximately $6,000. I was very lucky.
Describe Vishvanath C. Karande's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
I am glad we listened to his advice to only transfer one embryo.
feel that Dr. Karande is a very thorough and straight-forward doctor....I knew what was expected of me during my journey which included weight-loss. I followed his protocol and feel that is the reason why I experienced success with my retrieval and even with my transfers...For my egg retrieval, I believe my treatment strategy was an IVF antagonist protocol.... I don't know what the other patients plans were, but I feel like mines was tailored to my diagnosis.
The clinic [InVia] is very strong. The staff work together well, they are there for the patients and they are very well informed about what they do...I love the nursing staff. They were like a personal cheer squad. ... I also feel like I was greeted by name whenever I interacted with staff, even upon checking in at the front desk. The clinic truly felt like a 2nd home...The whole staff is very motivational and it is appreciated...I love this clinic and their attentiveness to their patients and have no suggestions on how they could improve such great care!
How was your experience with Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic)?
I feel that Dr. Karande is a very thorough and straight-forward doctor. In his field, it is important to be honest with patients about their diagnosis and treatment plan. I also feel it is important to give patients realistic goals to achieve during the IVF/FET process. I knew what was expected of me during my journey which included weight-loss. I followed his protocol and feel that is the reason why I experienced success with my retrieval and even with my transfers. Although two resulted in a chemical pregnancy/miscarriage, Dr. Karande never made it seem like hope was lost.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic)?
I would tell a future patient to go into the clinic after exhausting yourself with knowledge about infertility and possibly her or her partner's specific diagnosis of infertility. It is helpful to know what questions to ask at the initial consult with the doctor and makes a more informed patient. Also, be honest about your medical history. At this stage, there is no hiding from your past. It gets very real and very honest.

Describe the protocols Vishvanath C. Karande used in your cycles at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
For my egg retrieval, I believe my treatment strategy was an IVF antagonist protocol. I did 10 days of estrogen priming (CD21-CD4), 12 days of injectable stims for ovarian stimulation (CD5-CD16) menopur 225u/follistim 225u (SD1-4), menopur 300u/follistim 300u (SD5-12), ganirelix 0.25mg (SD7-11) to suppress ovulation, Pregnyl HcG trigger shot 10,000u. We retrieved 18 eggs, 10 initially fertilized, 4 (4aa) blastocyst made it to day 5. We prepped for a fresh single embryo transfer. I did 5 days of antibiotics post retrieval, 5 days of Medrol in preparation for transfer, and started crinone vaginal progesterone support to prepare my lining for embryo transfer/implantation.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
I love the nursing staff. They were like a personal cheer squad. I appreciate their attentiveness and basically just being the good spirits I needed when I experienced my losses. The whole staff is very motivational and it is appreciated.
Describe your experience with InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
The clinic is very strong. The staff work together well, they are there for the patients and they are very well informed about what they do. It is definitely different from getting care at my Primary Care doctor's office of OBGYN's office. I love this clinic and their attentiveness to their patients and have no suggestions on how they could improve such great care!
Describe the costs associated with your care under Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
My IVF and FET procedures including medications were covered by insurance. I only had to pay a $35 copay when interacting with the doctor and my storage fees and initial cost for my frozen embryos.
Describe Vishvanath C. Karande's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
I fully understand the recommendation to transfer a single embryo and that is the protocol I followed.
I felt like dr karande new what I wanted before I even voiced my opinion and was very open to listening to what I wanted and adjusting our medical plan accordingly. He was very upfront with information and potential risk (which one did occur) and it kept me prepared.... We did IUI after having problems with clomid and my general OBs lack of info. After 3 failed attempts he offered to try more or put IVF on the table. I knew going into the meeting I wanted to move forward with IVF. He was very informative and gave me lots of articles to rea. He warned me that with my AMH levels being so high that he wanted to do a freeze all because I would most likely going to get ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome ( and I did). He gave me statistics and percentages for 1and 2 embryos transfers and gave me reading on complications from multiple births but we still wanted to transfer 2
I loved them [InVia Fertility Specialists-Hoffman Estates]. The entire staff is friendly and don’t make you feel uncomfortable. They are more then willing to answer any questions you have. Only mild complaint is There were some days I couldn’t get as early as an appointment as I needed but 90% of the time it was the earliest slot... He presented us with stats and left it up to us to deside. We chose to transfer 2

Dr. Karande had told me my chances of success were high because I was so young yet he never gave me an actual reason why I was infertile. He didn't do anything before jumping right Into IVF... During each ultrasound he would say I had a little Endo but no big deal in fact he said "the best way to cure Endo is to get pregnant"....I have stage 4 Endo that was attached to both ovaries...Get a second opinion before you go just to be sure he isn't missing anything.
The clinic [InVia] itself was nice and a fun environment. The staff were always kind and compassionate...I loved the nursing staff. They were all kind and knew my name as soon as i walked in the door. They were quick to answer questions and send an email back...My insurance covered almost all of it but it was pricey!...For My IVF cycles I used small doses of lupron, follistem, monupur, gonral x(I think that's the name) and I can't remember the HCG trigger I used.
How was your experience with Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Karande had told me my chances of success were high because I was so young yet he never gave me an actual reason why I was infertile. He didn't do anything before jumping right Into IVF which I now realize was because my insurance would pay Boohoo bucks for it! During each ultrasound he would say I had a little Endo but no big deal in fact he said "the best way to cure Endo is to get pregnant".
After I aged off my parent's insurance I had to stop IVF. 4 transfers still no live baby :(...Fast forward a year later and I had exteme pain. I went to a regular gyno who did a lap and I have stage 4 Endo that was attached to both ovaries. That dr and the next Endo dr I went to said I never would should have done IVF without cleaning the Endo out first. It was so bad I apparently had little chance for success. So Dr. Karande wasted my little time that I had on my dad's great insurance and let me do all those cycles only to have my heart broken.
Oh and when I wasn't getting pregnant he said to me "well I know its not my clinic because everyone else has been getting pregnant this year"...ummm??

When I finally got my BFP I was over the moon. I made it to beta #2 with strong numbers then lost the pregnancy. My RE said to me as I cried and asked why "these things just happen". It felt cold and as someone who was grieving their baby, as well as paying a lot of money for him I wanted a reason.
Describe the protocols Vishvanath C. Karande used in your cycles at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
For My IVF cycles I used small doses of lupron, follistem, monupur, gonral x(I think that's the name) and I can't remember the HCG trigger I used. The Follistem was the easiest to administer.
I took Crinone progesterone suppositories each cycle. After a retrieval I had doxycycln to help stop any infections.

He said single was better because of my little size but after the first one didn't work he allowed me to try 2.
Dr. Karanda seemed so knowledgeable, yet was also open to hearing my thoughts on my treatment plan...was great to work with...was extremely nice and had a good bedside manner...letrozole for two IUI cycles, and then the medication stopped working. We pivoted to using Clomid in conjunction with metformin and the third IUI resulted in pregnancy.

I went here after losing a pregnancy with FCI, and Dr. Karande and his staff were beyond amazing!!! Unlike with FCI, I didn't feel like cattle. The staff was always so nice, and I felt like I was kept in the loop throughout the process. My son is now 8 months old and I wouldn't go anywhere else for our next baby. Fertility treatments are never fun, but Invia at least makes the process feel manageable. Can't recommend enough!!!!

Our IUI's were $2,000 out of pocket since insurance didn't cover them
I had to wait 6 months after a partial molar pregnancy before going through IVF [with Dr. Vishvanath Karande], I suggested doing the retrievals during that time. Dr. Karande was on board...Dr. Karande was open about the process, explained every step and was supportive during my miscarriage. He was at multiple ultra sounds, checked in when he saw me, even if I was just doing blood work, and performed every procedure himself. I felt comfortable with him and his staff and completed supported the year I was in his care.
The receptionists [at InVia Fertility Specialists] were personable, the nurses were all outgoing and remembered you, and everyone explained everything I needed to know. Back in 2019 we went to InVia Fertility for our first baby after trying to get pregnant naturally for 2.5 years and no success. We went through 3 rounds of IUI with no success (statistically chances are slim anyway - about 12% for success) and then we did our first IVF cycle and it was successful. I got pregnant, pregnancy went well with no complications and in August of 2020 I gave birth to a wonderful healthy baby girl.
2023 Update - We went back to InVia Fertility for our second baby. Again the first IVF cycle was successful and I'm 12 weeks pregnant now. I feel so blessed and grateful, I tell everyone that for me, it's God and then comes Dr. Karande. Pregnancy is progressing well and we are so excited to find out the sex of the baby soon. I would highly recommend this clinic for any fertility needs, the whole stuff is extremely nice and makes you feel welcome. Describe the costs associated with your care under Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
I think that total cost for one successful pregnancy was about 30k but we paid only until we reached out Out of Pocket maximum and rest was paid by BCBS insurance.
The doctor [Dr. Karande] was very helpful thru the entire process. ... He was answering all my questions, even some obvious or stupid :). ... I don’t remember the exact doses, but for my egg retrieval I’ve been taking Follistim and Menopur for about 8-9 days, I was having a lot of eggs, so in order to prevent OHSS, the doctor put me on Cabergoline(not sure if I spell it right) ... Even though I had 2 failed IuIs and 1 failed frozen transfer, she [sic] kinda assured me that I will get pregnant sooner or later.
The thing that I most like is that they [InVia Fertility Specialists] open at 6:30 am for monitoring, so it was very easy to get appts before 7 am and then be on time for work. A very big plus is that they are open for monitoring 365 days a year, which not many clinics do. So you can have a egg retrieval on Thanksgiving or Christmas if it has to. ... All the nurse staff was great. No complaints at all. They always answered all my questions, even twice after hours.
How was your experience with Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic)?
The doctor was very helpful thru the entire process. Even though I had 2 failed IuIs and 1 failed frozen transfer, she kinda assured me that I will get pregnant sooner or later. He was answering all my questions, even some obvious or stupid :). I am now 9 weeks pregnant from my second transfer, so hopefully I will have a healthy pregnancy and be back to this doctor for a second baby

I don’t remember the exact doses, but for my egg retrieval I’ve been taking Follistim and Menopur for about 8-9 days, I was having a lot of eggs, so in order to prevent OHSS, the doctor put me on Cabergoline(not sure if I spell it right)

As I stated before, they have a very convenient monitoring schedule starting at 6:30 am each morning 7 days a week. I’ve been to tens appt for monitoring, and they are usually very quick, about 10 minutes for ultrasound and blood work.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
Everything was covered by my insurance except the PGS testing that was $3500 for 8 embryos and the freezing storage (if I am not mistaking, my husband paid) it was like $1000 a year plus $50 monthly
Dr [Vishvanath] Karande was straight to the point and very informative. The date my transfer was set was not on a day he was going to be in the location I was having the transfer but he made it to my appointment and did my transfer and I appreciate that so much...1mg estrogen pills twice a day. 1 progesterone in oil injection a day. Suppositories 3 times a day...all amazing. Never felt like a number...
[The nurses at InVia Fertility Specialists were] Great and quick. I was always in and out for bloodwork. They were always happy and fun to be around...It’s a great clinic with great people who have done this more than thousands of times...Weakness: none...I live a couple hours from the clinic. They were always reasonable with the time they needed me there and the staff and doctors were all amazing. Never felt like a number

Lost paperwork
Describe the specific things that went wrong at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
I had donated embryos and they couldn’t find the paperwork stating nothing was wrong with them and all the proper testing had been done. They almost weren’t accepted but since I have a child from the specific embryos already - they took the frozen ones, then found the paperwork. It was all going to work out, it was just a scary few minutes.
Dr. Karande is extremely knowledgeable and very patient to re-explain and provide more details when asked. Dr. Karande is a very personable doctor...was very thorough in our initial consult..you are not speaking with your doctor throughout the majority of your treatment...There was often no explanation or recap of my labs and ultrasound after my appointments...I am pregnant, and we are so thankful for his approach
[At InVia Fertility Specialists] I didn't feel any personal touch whatsoever and it felt like I was just a number for their yearly report. It was frustrating to never speak to the same person...nurses would just send me a message in my portal with any changes to my protocol...has yet to forward my documentation over to my OBGYN
How was your experience with Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic)?
My experience with Dr. Karande has been fine. We hadn't interacted with him enough to really describe our experience differently. I am pregnant, and we are so thankful for his approach. The only thing I am unhappy about is my experience with the rest of the staff, and the speed at which requests are handled. For example, I was released three days ago and the documentation still hasn't been faxed to my OBGYN. I am completely unable to receive care until that happens.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic)?
Be prepared to rarely speak to your doctor. Most of the communications happen with nurses who seem bothered (to put it lightly) to answer your questions.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Karande is a very personable doctor. He was very thorough in our initial consult and we felt positive about pursuing care with him. However, you are not speaking with your doctor throughout the majority of your treatment as most communication happens between patients and nurses.
Describe the protocols Vishvanath C. Karande used in your cycles at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
We went through one IVF cycle with Invia and to be honest, I learned most about my treatment plan from Google, which was difficult because every single clinic does things differently. There was often no explanation or recap of my labs and ultrasound after my appointments. The nurses would just send me a message in my portal with any changes to my protocol. We were also driving 6 hours roundtrip to and from appointments, so it was very frustrating to do that much traveling several times a week, to receive no context or information on where my body was at, or what my labs meant.
How competent was Vishvanath C. Karande at LGBTQ+ care?
Dr. Karande certainly was! However, his nursing staff referred to my wife as my mother twice, which I thought was unacceptable. It's odd to make assumptions like that, especially in this field, and even more odd to not ask clarifying questions when greeting your patients. A simple, 'Who do you have with you today?' would have provided the nurse with enough information to not insult my wife and I.
Describe your experience with the nursing staff at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
The nurses handle most of the communication and it's not often you will speak to the same nurse twice in the same day. Messages are passed around and it resulted in a lot of communication issues for us. If you ask a multi-faceted question, they will probably not address every part of it. It screamed they were either slammed, not paying attention, or both. Asking questions felt like it was an inconvenience for them, and overall I do not feel the nursing staff is very empathetic. They are there to do a job and it shows.
Describe your experience with InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
We started this process before our previous clinic was bought by Invia Fertility. The nursing staff in Rockford is amazing, and I can't say enough positive things about them. Unfortunately, they were not open for monitoring yet for the majority of my treatment cycle, so I did not have the experience that I pictured. It was kind of a nightmare. I knew that we would have to travel due to being located in Central Illinois, and we were willing to do whatever it took to conceive a child. From the start, I just wanted to have a successful cycle and never see them again. I didn't feel any personal touch whatsoever and it felt like I was just a number for their yearly report. It was frustrating to never speak to the same person. It was like I had to restate my concerns several times before getting an answer because of how their workflows are built. The front desk staff seemed incapable of reading the notes in our chart indicating how far away we were and that we needed the latest possible apt. We were scheduled countless times for appointments at 6am and I'd have to reschedule immediately because there was no way I was leaving at 3:30 am. The nurses don't take accountability for making errors. For example, we had a HUGE shipping issue with our donor sperm two days before our egg retrieval that resulted in us having to pay close to $500 to get in there in time. We were explicitly told to not ship our sperm until we were told to, so we didn't. Two days before my retrieval, I was kind of lost in all the hormones I was taking, feeling unwell from them, and exhausted from driving 18 hours that week to appointments and realized, shoot, we never shipped our sperm because they never told us to. It arrived in time, but had it not been, we would have had to pay a couple of grand to freeze my eggs as well which was not the initial plan.
Later on, I spoke to a clinic manager who was super dismissive and treated me like I was a difficult patient (did not take ownership of several communication issues, and blatantly denied her nurse telling us that they would tell us when to have sperm shipped, and claimed that I must be confused with our previous doctor). I cited the nurse's name because it was NOT a nurse from our previous practice. It was a nurse at Invia. She didn't have a whole lot to say after that and overall the conversation was not productive and I didn't feel heard. I had little to no trust in them after that, and still don't.
The only time a nurse checked in on me was after my egg retrieval. NOT ONCE did they ask how I was feeling or doing, how I was adjusting to injections, or anything like that. I felt like I had gone through this almost entirely on my own (with the exception of my partner).
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
Monitoring appointments were scheduled first thing in the morning and it threw a wrench in my whole day given travel time.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
Luckily, insurance covered a lot of our costs but our OOP was around roughly 5k.
How competent was InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic) at LGBTQ+ care?
Knowledgeable of needs, yes. Respectful, not quite. They mislabeled my wife as my wife as my mother twice and included instructions for my husband on my protocol before my egg retrieval.
Describe your experience using 3rd party reproduction (donor eggs, donor sperm, or gestational carrier) at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
There was no coordination between Invia and our cryobank.
What specific things went wrong at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic)?
Lost paperwork
Failed to send your chart to another clinic

Describe the specific things that went wrong at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
The clinic released me this past week and has yet to forward my documentation over to my OBGYN. At this rate, my clinic will book up and I won't be able to be seen until my 12-week mark, and NIPT testing will be delayed. I've asked five times and I have gotten the run around. A release letter when releasing a patient seems like a very routine thing, and I am not sure why they are dragging their feet so badly on this.
Every time I spoke to Dr. Karande he was very well informed of what my unique situation was and the treatment options available to me...From the initial consultations for both of my pregnancies to my graduation appointments I was completely impressed with Dr. Karande's knowledge of the field and his passion for helping his patients become parents. He explained what the process would be based on my preferences for treatment. He was very honest with us that throughout the process there are no guarantees and it is impossible to know all of the answers but with treatment plan he designed would give us an excellent chance of success.
The [InVia Fertility Specialists] office staff was always friendly and organized. I was often amazed that so early in the morning with such a crowded office they were so welcoming and able to balance the demand of many patients. When I had some issues with my insurance company they were very helpful and understanding...I communicated with and saw many nurses throughout my treatment. They were all extremely compassionate while also knowledgeable of every step of my treatment.

Every time I spoke to Dr. Karande he was very well informed of what my unique situation was and the treatment options available to me. Even though most of my communication was with the nurses in his office, when I did speak to him directly it was clear that he was very thoughtful and informed when making individualized decisions about my treatment. He has a great bedside manner and during transfers and retrievals he had a sense of humor which helped with my anxiety while also reassuring me and my partner that he was extremely prepared and capable.

My 3 transfers were fully medicated with PIO, suppositories, and Estrace. Two led to successful pregnancies and one did not. Although the hormones were hard on me, it was explained to me that they are essential in supporting a FET pregnancy, particularly in the early stages. I have an absolutely delightful one year old and I am 11 weeks pregnant.

Describe the costs associated with your care under Vishvanath C. Karande at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
Almost everything was covered by my insurance. For my first pregnancy, I had an HMO, I paid about $500 for everything out of pocket including all co pays for office visits and medications. I also paid around $5,000 to have my embryos tested which was optional. For my second pregnancy, I was able to use embryos that I had frozen. This time with a PPO, I paid around $500 total out of pocket. I did have a hospital visit that resulted from a rare complication from my treatment that cost around $1,000 out of pocket. I also was paying $600 a year for embryo storage. This year, that increased to around $750.
Describe Vishvanath C. Karande's approach to eSET (elective single embryo transfer) vs. multiple embryo transfer at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
Dr. Karande was very clear from the beginning that he was not willing to transfer multiple embryos and that was only an option for extremely specific situations. He assured me that the success rates were so high with a tested frozen embryo transfer that there was no reason to risk the dangers that accompany a twin pregnancy.
He's [Dr. Karande is] informative and very patient in answering our many (silly) questions. We went through three cycles of IVF, with the third one being a success. After each cycle, whether successful or unsuccessful, Dr. Karande provided feedback that continue to give us hope...

I read many reviews that dr karande was blunt and had a bad bedside manner. I did not experience that. Just because he’s telling you what you don’t want to hear doesn’t make him a bad doctor. the clinic has a very large base and it’s a fine tuned machine when it comes to getting patients in and out. when my doctor saw me in person in passing, he immediately knew who I was which was important to me since many appointments were done via zoom.
Describe the protocols Vishvanath C. Karande used in your cycles at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
My insurance required 3 iui before we moved to Ivf. He was very open and honest that the likelihood of success with one blocked tube was small. We still gave it our best shot but they failed. Our first and only egg retrieval went as well as it could for us. Dr karande didnt over stimulate me and I had a great recovery. We ended up with 3 normal embryos which was perfect. I did not want an over abundance of embryos as I didn’t feel right if I had to dispose of many of them. I think everything was done perfectly. Our transfer was performed about 6 weeks later and it was successful. I cannot thank dr karande enough for helping me build my family

Describe your experience with InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
Strengths- the portal system makes communicating with your doctor or nurses so easy. I will miss that as there were many times I messaged nursing with questions and they reply within 30 mins many times. I can’t say enough good things about the nurses I’ve dealt with. Early appointment times were a perk too along with having a clinic 5 mins from my home for quick bloodwork and ultrasound appointments.
Weaknesses- Hoffman estates office is busy. Several of my appointments at that office were delayed substantially. I was told I couldn’t bring my 3 year old toddler to my appointments so I have to pay a babysitter. When appointments run off schedule, it would create issues with my limited childcare. One of my appointments was 50 minutes behind. Just be prepared with Hoffman that your appointments might not be on time sometimes also with no apology. I wouldn’t have minded so much if they were at least apologetic.
Describe your experience with your monitoring appointments at InVia Fertility Specialists (First Fertility Network clinic).
At the crystal lake office, several times I’d walk in the door and Nancy would be calling me back already before I could sit down. She’s a one woman show at the crystal lake office and she’s a rockstar

I had amazing insurance coverage. Each iui, egg retrieval, and fet was a $20 copay. Anytime I had an appointment with the dr I also paid $20. I am incredibly lucky
