We decided to take Dr. Huber's advice to transfer both embryos, since my body is a better incubator than in the laboratory. At this point in our journey, that made more sense to me as well...He was present for many of the ultrasounds to have immediate information for himself, and able to provide us an explanation of the results. He was VERY professional, but also was on a level for us to feel comfortable with him. He always took as much time as we needed, and never felt rushed!... thought outside the box, and had many "options" for another cycle; if one thing wasn't working, he'd go to Plan B, etc. We had not experience that in the previous two years of IVF cycles. We knew right away we needed his energy and expertise that not everyone fits inside the same box. An
I had one primary IVF RN coordinator throughout my process [at Fertility Institute of New Orleans]. She was VERY educated with the IVF process, medication, and able to explain things to us well. I don't feel like I was provided information on my lab results, like I should have been. I usually had to ask for the information, and learned that along the way...I had to remind them to test my thyroid, and ask if I still needed to stay on medication...In total of all of our medications and 6 rounds of IVF, we spend over $100,000, all out of pocket. Each cycle was a different cost, discussed with the finance department. Our first cycle was the most expensive, about $20,000. Each cycle, our meds cost between $5-8,000.00
How was your experience with Warren “Jay” Huber III at Fertility Institute of New Orleans (First Fertility Network clinic)?
We felt at ease with him immediately. We went for a consult with Dr Huber, after having minimal success with another Dr. Dr. Huber thought outside the box, and had many "options" for another cycle; if one thing wasn't working, he'd go to Plan B, etc. We had not experience that in the previous two years of IVF cycles. We knew right away we needed his energy and expertise that not everyone fits inside the same box. And it worked! We are forever grateful for his willingness to try something new with us. I really do not have anything negative to say about Dr. Huber. I continue to occasionally contact him with updates of my pregnancy even though we have graduated from our fertility clinic, and he seems genuinely happy for us.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Warren “Jay” Huber III at Fertility Institute of New Orleans (First Fertility Network clinic)?
This was the third fertility doctor we had consulted/worked with during our 2.5 years of IVF cycles. He had the most "fire" within him and really take everything in our case into consideration. I think all of the doctors are good and have passion for what they do, but he seemed to take it one step farther. He was always referencing studies and the latest research. My advice would be: If you have any doubt about him, consult with another dr and you'll see the difference, like we did. We wished we would have changed sooner.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Warren “Jay” Huber III at Fertility Institute of New Orleans (First Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr. Huber always called us by our names, wasn't looking on our chart to remember my name, was ALWAYS there for us, having empathy of what we are going through, an AMAZING passion to be successful for us, and really wanted to be involved in our case. He was present for many of the ultrasounds to have immediate information for himself, and able to provide us an explanation of the results. He was VERY professional, but also was on a level for us to feel comfortable with him. He always took as much time as we needed, and never felt rushed!
Describe the protocols Warren “Jay” Huber III used in your cycles at Fertility Institute of New Orleans (First Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I can't remember all the specifics, but I think we have 4 "plans." If one wasnt working, we would go with another one, etc, etc. He had a master plan for everything. He explained it easy for us to understand and always answered all of our questions. He always had a good rationale to his strategy. With our previous dr., we only had one plan. I felt more comfortable that if something wasnt working with the original plan, we had some backup plans.
Describe your experience with your nurse at Fertility Institute of New Orleans (First Fertility Network clinic). (Assigned nurse: Lisa)
I had one primary IVF RN coordinator throughout my process. She was VERY educated with the IVF process, medication, and able to explain things to us well. I don't feel like I was provided information on my lab results, like I should have been. I usually had to ask for the information, and learned that along the way. I also dont feel like I was always told an accurate account of how my cycle was going. Beside the IVF coordinator, I felt like the other nurses treated it just like a business. My emotions ran high being there and going through this, and I just dont think I got the compassion I needed there from them.
Describe your experience with Fertility Institute of New Orleans (First Fertility Network clinic).
I think the clinic has an overall good reputation. I REALLY liked the lab where I had my egg retrieval and transfer. They had so much compassion and were very kind!!! I received phone calls with results in a very timely manner. Some things were explained well, other things were not. You had to know the right questions to ask, but you didnt always know the questions to ask. I am glad I started taking notes of each visit, so I could reference it if needed. The bills that they sent me in the mail were AWFUL, explaining why I owed more money. I know this sounds stupid, but we paid everything out of pocket, over $100,000, and I felt like the cashier/check out person had no sensitivity of the costs, and understanding the emotions of spending so much money. I just did not have a good experience with her. I felt rushed and not explained my bills when she said I owed extra money. Overall, I was satisfied with the clinic, minus the compassion and explaining things well.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr Huber presents data and evidence-based research when developing a treatment plan. He presented multiple options, explained the pros and cons for each and allowed my husband and I to decide. He offered his advice, but I felt comfortable making decisions about my treatment approach without influence from him. He is accessible, prompt, kind and genuine...has compassion for every patient he treats.
You have two options locally to be seen: Metairie or Mandeville [Fertility Institute of New Orleans] clinic. That makes it possible to be soon ASAP. I’ve never had to miss a cycle for scheduling availability. Between the two offices, they have always been able to accommodate my appointment needs with little to no notice. Communication between the two clinics is excellent...I never had an issue with not receiving information or results ASAP

During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Warren “Jay” Huber III at Fertility Institute of New Orleans (First Fertility Network clinic)?
Dr Huber has compassion for every patient he treats. He told my husband and I on multiple occasions that his wife has been in our seat and he treats each patient as he would want his wife treated. It seems genuine. You can feel his compassion.
Describe the protocols Warren “Jay” Huber III used in your cycles at Fertility Institute of New Orleans (First Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
We chose a semi natural PGT frozen embryo transfer because he showed me his data of outcomes for 2023 for women in my age group (38): estrogen / injectable PIO protocol was in the 40-50% range (can’t remember exactly), Lupron was 44% and semi natural protocol was 67%. Our first transfer was not successful, but we are going through our define transfer now. At my age, I feel it was nothing Dr Huber could have done differently. I believe we were just on the wrong side of statistics.

First cycle: $18,500 (including PGT which was up to 6 embryos tested for $3,500). That cycle failed (all embryos were genetically abnormal). Second cycle was reduced to $13,500 (also included $3,500 for PGT). First transfer failed and only one transfer included Second transfer: $4,000

Dr Huber has not offered to transfer multiple embryos and my husband and I are not interested.

Dr. Huber and his staff make it a point to know each of their patients...I've done (4) IUIs with Dr. Huber. We tweaked the meds for each cycle to help give us the best chance with the next one. After our first failed FET, he suggested testing that would help us get it right the next time. We never felt pressured to do anything. In fact, we felt relieved he was such a supporter of our decisions....
I love everything about the clinic [Fertility Institute of New Orleans] except for the patient portal. It's not the most user-friendly platform. There is an app you can download but that seems worse than the website. It's not terrible and gets the job done. It's just not the best...all the nurses in the clinic are amazing. They share the same sentiment as Dr. Huber and make us feel like family. They want to know how our weekend was or what we have planned next. It's never just strictly business. they want to know and help us as people...

Dr. Huber genuinely cares for his patients. He wants to get to know you as a person, not just another number. He cheers in our successes and he cries in our heartaches. Dr. Huber is extremely knowledgeable and friendly...very supportive of my decisions and forthcoming with my options...administered all but one of my IUIs and each one was painless...encouraged me to go at my own pace and checked in with me frequently regarding my options...told me it was likely I could get pregnant the 2nd IUI. He was right but it miscarried at 8 weeks...exhausted from trying so many times that I had to take a break
The strength of the clinic [Fertility Institute of New Orleans] is their sperm analysis and storage...extremely disorganized and slow...have to block off multiple hours for appointments because I couldn’t plan on being seen at my appointment time...often forgot my name or messed up my info in the computer. For example they might not know why I needed blood work and didn’t communicate to other nurses on duty.

What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Warren “Jay” Huber III at Fertility Institute of New Orleans (First Fertility Network clinic)?
I’d give the same advice to any lesbian couple starting out with IUI- skip the natural cycle and take the recommended hormones. I was worried about having twins, so I tried 5 natural cycles. I was exhausted from trying so many times that I had to take a break. If I had started with hormones, my chances would have increased.

Dr. Huber told me it was likely I could get pregnant the 2nd IUI. He was right but it miscarried at 8 weeks. After those two natural cycles, we continued trying but with an injection just before the IUI to induce ovulation. I’m not sure if tracking my own ovulation at home was the issue, but we never had success.

I spent a lot of time in the waiting room. The clinic is located outside of the city, even though they consider themselves a New Orleans clinic. The biggest drawback to going to this clinic is was the amount of time i spent traveling to and from the clinic and the time in the waiting room. The strength of the clinic is their sperm analysis and storage. I trust them with donor sperm a lot more than the only other clinic in the city.

Dr. Huber's bedside manner is really what sold me. I was filled with anticipation and nervousness on my way to my initial consultation and all those fears were put to ease once my husband and I met him. He spent an hour with us going through what he anticipated our process would entail based on my past medical history, why he thought certain routes would work best for me based on his experience along with current studies and research that supported his reasoning.
The [Fertility Institute of NO] appointments were easy to schedule, I never waited long to be seen. Everything was handled very professionally with kindness...The nursing staff was great and kind throughout the whole process and I felt like I had my own personal cheering squad supporting me in becoming pregnant...She [finance dept] was very kind and as far as costs, everything went through my insurance and anything out of pocket I paid for

Once I started became a regular patient, I would see him pretty frequently either for ultrasounds, procedures or to go over my latest test results, etc. Each time all my questions were answered and any test results were explained thoroughly and I never felt rushed. Even when I would call the office to answer a question either he or a nurse would call me back quickly but no later than the end of day. In addition, once I became pregnant and was cleared to leave and continue my prenatal care with my obgyn a big part of me wish I could have stayed his patient throughout my pregancy because that's how much I appreciated his patience and understanding throughout the entire fertility process.
What's one piece of advice would you give a prospective patient of Warren “Jay” Huber III at Fertility Institute of New Orleans (First Fertility Network clinic)?
I understand the fear of going to see a fertility specialist because it's not an easy decision, but all I can say is don't wait any longer because I can assure you Dr. Huber will put all your fears at ease and really take the time to get to know you. What else can I say? I am one of his success stories and will forever be grateful that he gave me the chance to have my baby girl. I started seeing him at the beginning of June and became pregnant by July.
During treatment, were you treated like a number or a human with Warren “Jay” Huber III at Fertility Institute of New Orleans (First Fertility Network clinic)?
To say I loved Dr. Huber would be an understatement, I had seen multiple OBGYNs and none took the time to really evaluate my case or get to know me and my husband as much as Dr. Huber did. Specifically, I have always struggled with anxiety and especially during such a stressful time as dealing with infertility, my anxiety was higher than normal. During this time every question or concern I presented to Dr.Huber was answered with kindness and my feelings were never downplayed.
Describe the protocols Warren “Jay” Huber III used in your cycles at Fertility Institute of New Orleans (First Fertility Network clinic) and their degree of success.
I began my treatment in June which began with a string of routine tests to see the age of my eggs, how many I was producing each cycle, also I completed a test to see that all my reproductive system was working properly i.e. uterus, fallopian tubes, hormone levels, etc. In addition, my husband's sperm was tested contemporaneously. All of these tests were used to see what exactly my body was doing each cycle and what was preventing me from conceiving. It was confirmed my PCOS was the culprit causing my body to produce 3x as many eggs compared to the average and none were maturing naturally. In addition, my body was not ovulating properly. As such, my first month, I tried an injection to trigger my body to ovulate with no results. On my second month, I took letrozole (sister of clomid) with an injection to trigger ovulation along with timed intercourse which worked!

Describe your experience with Fertility Institute of New Orleans (First Fertility Network clinic).
Honestly, I have no complaints. The appointments were easy to schedule, I never waited long to be seen. Everything was handled very professionally with kindness and in the end, I left with what I wanted a pregnancy so I will always be grateful.
Describe the costs associated with your care under Warren “Jay” Huber III at Fertility Institute of New Orleans (First Fertility Network clinic).
Ms. Judy, who handled all the financials was the best. She was very kind and as far as costs, everything went through my insurance and anything out of pocket I paid for. Costs varied depending on the procedure but for me typically each visit came along with a co-pay.

Success w/ Doc Too early to know
Dr. Huber's bedside manner was extraordinary. He took the time to read my case filed from beginning to end before he met with me. With his deliverance and knowledge, he made feel like I was his only patient...patient, showed compassion, as well as made sure to assure me that they were nothing I did wrong to put me in this position. He stated clear facts and ways to improve my situation, which most doctors did not clearly state. He made me feel comfortable.
[Fertility Institute of New Orleans] was clean and the environment was subtle. The layout was ok and the equipment was top of the line. In the waiting room, I think more pamphlets should be available to read. Parking is not all that great but the clinic is in a small... nurses were very professional and treated me like a human person. They showed compassion, patience, and were extremely nice...
